Covid‐19
• We are under stress of Covid‐19 formerly called
as 2019‐nCoV since 31 December 2019 mimics
pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan City,
China.
• Current evidence suggests that the virus spreads
mainly between people who are in close contact
with each other, typically within 1 meter (short‐
range).
• A person can be infected by virus when aerosols
or droplets containing the virus are inhaled or
come directly into contact with the eyes, nose, or
mouth.

Symptoms
• The virus constantly getting mutated and changing its face
and symptoms
• Most common symptoms are –
– fever ‐ dry cough ‐ tiredness
• Less common symptoms:
– Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing ‐ Chills
– aches and pains – headache ‐ Muscle aches ‐ Chest pain
– sore throat ‐ loss of taste or smell–
– conjunctivitis ‐ Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
– diarrhea – Nausea ‐ Vomiting
– rash on skin
– discoloration of fingers or toes
• Post Covid effect is taking more lives rather than infection
state, mostly due to micro‐clotting of blood

What can Ayurveda do?
• The Viral or Bacterial infections were mentioned
in Ayurveda but not given any importance to
them as ultimately the effect is over Systems in
terms of Dosha
• Any ailment express Fever as repairing
mechanism of body along with tiredness is
observed in Swasanaka Jwara
• Swarabheda or sore throat spells the localization
of disease
• Ayurveda suggested much better time tested
protocols for such situations since Thousands of
Years

Post Covid PK Protocol
• As the patient is Negative and non spreader of
Corona – Ayurveda can provide its effective
Putative Panchakarma and Immunoboosting
protocols
– Initiate Ghruta Pana for 7 days (Standard dose of
15‐25 ml) in Smaller dose along with Agni
Vardhaka Kwatha acc. targeted organ pathology
– Once the patient restores the strength and skin
reflects with unction Swedana is given exclusively
for 3 days along with selective oils corresponding
to the target pathology

• After Snehapana and Abhyanga Swedana
– On 10th day Vamana is undertaken with
Madanaphala pippali + Saindhava + Madhu +
Pippali followed by Yashtimadhu Phanta (not
kwatha) and Lavanodaka
– 11‐13th day Sansarjana Krama is given in 6
annakala – peya – manda – vilepi – Akruta yusha –
Kruta yusha – Odana (Shastika Shali)
– After 7 days of Vamana Virechana with Gandharva
Haritaki is given followed by Draksha Kashaya

What happens with Panchakarma
• Ghrita pana makes the dosha vilayana
• Swedana brings them to Koshta
• Vamana removes the lung and salivary glands,
stomach accumulated heavy metallic
accumulation and molecular debris
• Sansarjana karma makes restoration of strength
• Virechana takes out the residual debris and
evacuates the Bile
• Later Rasayana program is followed

Katutrayadi Kwatha 30ml is the best in the
morning @ 6 AM as a single dose
• Shiva Gutika 1 BD
• Vasanta Kusumakar Ras 1 OD
• Avoid prolonged use of Guduchi or Chyavana
Prasha as it can become immune resistant
• Kushmanda Rasayana Avaleha 10gm at Bed time
with Aswagandha Ghrita 10gm followed by Milk
is a good choice to restore strength

• But the traditional knowledge based on
thousands of years experience and recording the
effectiveness and efficacy can not be ruled out
• Many examples of personally managed exclusive
Covid cases with Ayurveda did not appeared in
the publication limelight because of restrictions

Ayurveda is Ultimate
• I am not speaking this as I am an Ayurvedic
Practitioner
• Present tendency of Trial and Error method
incomplete research inclusions in treating the
pandemic is thought as ultimate leaving the
long standing traditional medicines alone
• One thing is sure – when the experience of
tradition and experimental science joins the
hands – the result will be marvelous.
