Introduction
• Vasti is a technical term used for residualVasti is a technical term used for residual
medicine in a specific place

• In fact Vasti is “Nivase” means to stay, residue
or keeping the medicine at a site

• The Vasti are basically Internal and ExternalThe Vasti are basically Internal and External
• The Internal are classified as Kashaya

• The external Vasti are site based such as –

• This ages are for development of tissues and not
suitable but if the situation demands in such a

age groups (50 years onwards) as common

• It is observed many times the area selected by
the therapist is not appropriate p pp p
• Many times even the body shape of patient is
also not comfortable to make good position
• Select the full length muscle or tendon or
ligament or organ for the local Vasti
• If it is related to the spinal bones at least two
joints above and below

• Usually the time taken for local Vasti is 20 toUsually the time taken for local Vasti is 20 to
30 minutes

takes 3.5 minutes. We have to calculate
accordingly.
• How long is a common question –
– Make it for 7 days and offer at least 7‐14 days gap
as we do in case of snehapana

Purvakarma
• If necessary removal of hair (especially in Shirovasti)y ( p y )
• Clean the surface with water
• Wipe the moisture with cloth
• Construct the brim properly with at least 2 inches in
height
