• A book is a set of written, printed, illustrated material hingd

• A text book is course manual or instruction in any branch
of study
• Can be produced by the institution on demand
• Well laid down syllabus
6. Monograph
• Monograph is a specialist work of writing on a single
subject or aspect of the subject
• Usually by single author
• Derived from Greek word Mono (single)
Grapho(writing) meaning “ writing on single subject”
7. Reference book
• A reference book is a book or serial publication to which one
can refer for confirmed facts.
• They are used for referring to a particular information rather
than reading from beginning to end.
• It is informative
• Writing style by authors avoids use of first person
• Emphasizes facts
• Compilation of many references
• Edited by one or more editors rather than the author.
