Movie Case Study
Movie Case Study This case study is comprised of a sample of one hundred movies with the
following four variables: opening gross sales, total gross sales, number of theaters, and weeks in
top 60. The four variables are used to analyze the motion picture industry, and show the descriptive
statistic of the variables and to analyze the results. The results will show the high performance
outliers of the motion picture industry and why. The correlation between total gross sales and each
variable will be shown and will be accompanied by X, Y scatter graphs. At completion of this case
study the reader will understand the following descriptive statistics mean, standard deviation, sample
deviation, and range for all four variables, and the...show more content...
This number will be based on not only the popularity of the movie but also the expected traffic of
the movie. * The mean of the number of theatres is 1277.94, this is the average number of
theatres the movies are shown in. * The standard deviation of the number of theatres is 1378.689
this shows the deviation from the mean which is because of some movies that are shown in a
large amount of theatres and some movies are only shown in a few movie theatres. * The sample
variance for the number of theatres is 1900785, this can be also attributed to the popularity of
movies some being very popular and shown in a large amount of theatres and some less popular
and only being shown in a few movie theatres. * The range of the number of theatres is 3905,
once again the lowest value is very low and hardly effects the highest value. So this shows the
difference between the movies that are shown in the most theatres and the movies that are shown
in the least theatres. The fourth variable is number of weeks in top 60; this variable shows the
level of popularity of the movie and how long it remained in the top 60 most popular movies. This
variable has the least correlation with total gross sales. * The mean of number of weeks in top 60
is 8.68, which means the average amount of time a movie spends in the top 60 which would round
up to nine weeks, if a movie spent less than

Cbt Case Studies
The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and preliminary effects of a theory driven
CBSB intervention for adolescents (Melnyk, 2009). Group formats of cognitive behavioral therapy
have shown promising results. The method presented by CBT is much more effective than
presenting CBT individually in that it incorporates similarities seen in the classroom setting which
adolescents are familiar and comfortable with (Whissman, 2008). Results from a meta–analysis
conducted by Huey and Polo (2008) found that within evidence–based treatments, CBT showed more
success for ethnic minority group children. The sample for this study consisted of 16 adolescents,
ages 14–17 years, from two high schools in the same district. The children were...show more

Unfortunately, this minority group faces a number of disadvantages including an increased risk of
depression. This onset of depression can establish vulnerability for academic difficulties on top of
lack of positive self–image and self–esteem. The results that were gathered confirmation that
academic performance is significantly correlated with depressive symptoms and that cognitive
behavioral therapy of a school setting style is useful in decreasing the symptoms of depression and
anxiety. According to Bronfenbrenner's theory of ecological systems the influences in the school and
home should make an effect on the child, Study 3 supports this view since its results showed that
when CBT was delivered in a school setting the students felt comfortable and showed positive results.
The results from these studies present many implications, one being that for Hispanic adolescents the
use of a school setting delivery method of CBT is useful and should be incorporated into schools that
are in need of this intervention. Another implication would be that these resources be applied to
schools and communities of low income and populated by low minority groups since treatment is far
out of reach for them. Another suggestion pronounces that the differences in boys and girls
experiencing depressive symptoms should be considered to maximize patient

Case Management Essay
The focus of this paper is case management. Case management has evolved into a diverse
profession which includes many disciplines and is exercised in many settings. Case management
involves the process of coordinating multiple services on behalf of clients and has been practiced
now for several decades. Many disciplines have engaged in case management and identify
themselves as case managers. Case managers work with many populations and settings and play an
important role in today's society. The following analysis explores how case management developed,
how it is defined, its components, and how it relates to other nursing care delivery models. All these
aspects are reviewed with the purpose to show the importance of case management...show more

Today almost every major health care organization has a case management program managing and
directing the use of health care services for their clients. Also, case management by payer
organization is recognized as external case management (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). Hospitals
recognized the need for the case management model in the mid–1980s to manage the lengths of stay
of hospitalized patients and the treatment plans (Jacob & Cherry, 2007).
In 1983, the Medicare prospective payment program was implemented which allowed hospitals to
be reimbursed a set payment based on the patient's diagnosis, or Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG),
regardless of what treatment was provided or how long the patient was hospitalized (Jacob &
Cherry, 2007). To keep the costs below the diagnosis related payment, hospitals had to manage
efficiently the treatment provided to a client and reduce the client's length of stay (Jacob & Cherry,
2007). Case management, or internal case management "within the walls" of the health care facilities
was created to streamline costs while maintaining quality care (Jacob & Cherry, 2007).
Hospitals felt the pinch of payment shortfalls in the early to mid–1990s resulting from the
prospective payment program (Daniels & Frater, 2011). Due to the nature of this dramatic change in
organizational culture engaged hospital employees and

Approach to Case Study
A case study is a description of an actual administrative situation involving a decision to be made
or a problem to be solved. It can be a real situation that actually happened just as described, or
portions have been disguised for reasons of privacy. Most case studies are written in such a way
that the reader takes the place of the manager whose responsibility is to make decisions to help
solve the problem. In almost all case studies, a decision must be made, although that decision might
be to leave the situation as it is and do nothing.
Answering ACase Study
It helps to have a system when sitting down to answer a case study as the amount of information and
issues to be resolved can initially seem quite overwhelming. The...show more content...
Some issues may appear to be urgent, but upon closer examination are relatively unimportant, while
others may be far more important (relative to solving our problem) than urgent. You want to deal
with important issues in order of urgency. Important issues are those that have a significant effect on:
1.profitability,
2.strategic direction of the company,
3.source of competitive advantage,
4.morale of the company 's employees, and/or
5.customer satisfaction.
The problem statement may be framed as a question, e.g.: What should Joe do? or How can Mr.
Smith improve market share?
Analyzing Case Data
In analyzing the case data, you are trying to answer the following:
1.Why or how did these issues arise? You are trying to determine cause and effect for the problems
identified. It may be helpful to think of the organization in question as consisting of the following
components:
1.resources, such as materials, equipment, or supplies, and
2.people who transform these resources using
3.processes, which creates something of greater value.
2.Who is affected most by this issues? You are trying to identify who are the relevant stakeholders
to the situation, and who will be affected by the decisions to be made.
3.What are the constraints and opportunities implicit to this situation? It is very rare that resources
are not a constraint, and allocations must be made on the assumption that not enough will be
available to please

Case Formulation
Case formulation is a theoretically based explanation of information obtained from assessment,
which offers a hypothesis about the cause and nature of presenting problems. (Westmeyer 2003,
Kuyken et al. 2005, 2012, Persons 2005). Case formulation helps to identify and summarise the
individuals core problems. It helps the to explain why the individual has developed the difficulties
they have and shows how the indivduals difficulties relate to one another based on psychological
knowledge. With understanding their feelings and beliefs and intervention can be planned if
needed. This plan would be drawn up with the individual and would be revisited every few days.
Changes in the mental health sector have led to practitioners and services reviewing how they fully

The individual is then shown how to change their negative emotions so they can then improve on
themselves. CBT also deals with the issues that the person is feeling at that time rather than
focusing on things that have happened in the past. It also looks for practical ways to improve the
state of mind on a dialy basis. CBT is broken down into five main domains; situations, thoughts,
emotions, physical feelings and actions. CBT has been shown to be effective way of treating a
number of different mental health conditions. Other than depression and anxiety disorder is can also
treat people with OCD, panic disorder, PTSD, phobias and eating disorders. The usual CBT session
last anywhere between five and twenty sessions, each lasting thirty to sixty minutes. During the
session in the individual will work with the therapist to break down the problems into separate
sections such as thoughts, physical feelings and actions. Th eventual aim of the therapy is to teach
individuals to apply skills learnt during treatment to daily

Ethics Case Study Essay
Ethics Case Study
Nurses are faced with ethical issues and dilemmas on a regular basis. Nurses must understand his
or her values and morals to be able to deal adequately with the ethical issues he or she is faced
with. Some ethical issues nurses are exposed to may be more difficult than others and the ethical
decision making process is learned over time.
The purpose of this paper is to identify the ethical issues in the case study provided in the week one
assignment. A discussion of how to use ethical principles to address the issues presented in the case
study will be covered within the paper. A description of conflicts of this nursing student's personal
values and the ethical principles applied in this case study. The paper will...show more content...
Compassion and respect is another ethical principle that a nurse must show for others that he or she
comes into contact with, including the mother if suspected of child abuse.
The personal values of this nursing student would first suspect child abuse especially if the child has
bilateral fractures of the femur. Abuse toward others is not tolerated in this author's personal life.
Respect for others is another value of this nursing student. Though showing this respect toward
others is difficult at times when faced with patients and families who continually show a lack respect
for themselves and others. Respect for this eighth month old child is easily done, but to put aside
personal basis and continue this respect toward the mother if abuse is the cause of the injuries may
be difficult. Responsibility for ones own actions and owning up to those actions is a value of this
nursing student. This author attempts to treat others fairly, equally, and the same way that she (this
author) would like to be treated. These personal values are difficult to practice at times when others
that this nursing student comes into contact do not have similar ethical values.
If this scenario happened in an outpatient clinic or urgent care center and there were physicians
who were more dedicated to patient safety a report to child protective services may have been made
regarding the child's injuries. This child deserves to have her rights observed and

Management is interested to know which of these strategies is considered the most effective by
Computers R Us customers. A member of your team has already collected data that can be used
for this analysis. To collect this data, a simple random sample of 500 customers was selected. Of
the 500 customers to whom surveys were sent, 420 responded. The survey used to collect this
data is provided below and the survey responses have been collated in the CompleteCare.xls Excel
file. You are required to write a report after performing an analysis on the data collected from the
customers of Computers R Us. A member of your team has suggested that, when you perform this
analysis, you should undertake a series of hypothesis tests to examine the following: 1. Does the
current level of customer satisfaction differ from management's goal of 7 out of 10? 2. Is there
any difference between the satisfaction of male and female customers with the level of
communication with staff and management at Computers R Us? 3. Are there any differences in
the overall customer satisfaction across the following age groups: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5? 4. Is there any
difference in customer satisfaction between responses to the initiatives of 'decreasing response

Case Study: Anxiety Essay
Instructions: Read the following case study about a woman, Allison, who is suffering from anxiety.
After you have read the case study, diagnose Allison and present some methods of treatment by
answering the questions. Presenting Complaint Allison, a 33–year–old white woman, knew that it
was finally time for her to seek psychological services. She had always been an anxious person
and, for years, had managed to keep it under control. But, this time she felt as though she was
fighting a losing battle and worried that it was going to result in her being fired from her job.
Allison worked as a flight attendant for a major airline and loved interacting with the passengers.
She was particularly proud of her extensive knowledge of aircraft...show more content...
Furthermore, Allison worries about the danger of being out at night in a strange town. She
explains, "It's just not safe for a single woman to be out at night. Some cities have a high rate of
crime and are extremely dangerous." Allison finds that she worries about all of these things
simultaneously, which leaves her exhausted and overwhelmed. However, when she tries to sleep,
she cannot shut her mind off. She lays awake for hours thinking about all of the things that could
happen. Therefore, Allison is often sleep deprived which leaves her stressed, tense, and irritable.
Allison has experienced a few panic attacks in her life, but has not had a panic attack in more than
two years. But she still carries Xanax with her everywhere she goes, just in case she needs it.
Ever since she was 7 years old, she has worried about random issues. Allison remembers walking
through her house at 7 years old, checking on all of the appliances to make sure that they were all
unplugged before everyone fell asleep in fear that a fire would break out and burn the house
down. Allison was also worried as a 3rd grader about her mother dying any day from cancer, since
her mother was a smoker. When Allison was 16, she had great difficulty with learning how to drive
in fear that she would be involved in a car accident. Indeed, Allison was involved in 2 car accidents,
none of which were her fault.

That's when she faced a difficult ethical decision: She could order the shirts from a low–cost
company in China or she could order them from a fair–trade company in San Francisco, which
provided safe conditions and higher wages for the workers who made the clothing. The fair trade
shirts were $28.65,making the grand total for her project $8,595. In contrast, the Chinese T–shirts
were $5.50 each, and the company's Web site promised fast and free delivery for a grand total of
$1,100.
LeBlanc remembered from her Venture Capital Finance class that startup companies need to focus
on making the most money during the first two years. She also knew that the T–shirts from China
would be cheaper so that she could create a more elaborate design with more graphics and color.
She realized her school was a "testing campus" for Fashionforward! and that if her marketing
module worked, her internship work would spread to other college campuses. She thought of
how easy it would be for a factory in China to produce large quantities of shirts to give away for free
as a promotion that she could promote on the Facebook page she had worked so hard on. She also
wondered if the higher cost of the T–shirts would affect the grade the CEO gave her for the
internship.
On the other hand, her International Management class had exposed her to the harsh reality of
working conditions in China: low wages, rigorous work schedule, poor safety regulations, and

  • 1. Movie Case Study Movie Case Study This case study is comprised of a sample of one hundred movies with the following four variables: opening gross sales, total gross sales, number of theaters, and weeks in top 60. The four variables are used to analyze the motion picture industry, and show the descriptive statistic of the variables and to analyze the results. The results will show the high performance outliers of the motion picture industry and why. The correlation between total gross sales and each variable will be shown and will be accompanied by X, Y scatter graphs. At completion of this case study the reader will understand the following descriptive statistics mean, standard deviation, sample deviation, and range for all four variables, and the...show more content... This number will be based on not only the popularity of the movie but also the expected traffic of the movie. * The mean of the number of theatres is 1277.94, this is the average number of theatres the movies are shown in. * The standard deviation of the number of theatres is 1378.689 this shows the deviation from the mean which is because of some movies that are shown in a large amount of theatres and some movies are only shown in a few movie theatres. * The sample variance for the number of theatres is 1900785, this can be also attributed to the popularity of movies some being very popular and shown in a large amount of theatres and some less popular and only being shown in a few movie theatres. * The range of the number of theatres is 3905, once again the lowest value is very low and hardly effects the highest value. So this shows the difference between the movies that are shown in the most theatres and the movies that are shown in the least theatres. The fourth variable is number of weeks in top 60; this variable shows the level of popularity of the movie and how long it remained in the top 60 most popular movies. This variable has the least correlation with total gross sales. * The mean of number of weeks in top 60 is 8.68, which means the average amount of time a movie spends in the top 60 which would round up to nine weeks, if a movie spent less than Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Cbt Case Studies The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and preliminary effects of a theory driven CBSB intervention for adolescents (Melnyk, 2009). Group formats of cognitive behavioral therapy have shown promising results. The method presented by CBT is much more effective than presenting CBT individually in that it incorporates similarities seen in the classroom setting which adolescents are familiar and comfortable with (Whissman, 2008). Results from a meta–analysis conducted by Huey and Polo (2008) found that within evidence–based treatments, CBT showed more success for ethnic minority group children. The sample for this study consisted of 16 adolescents, ages 14–17 years, from two high schools in the same district. The children were...show more content... Unfortunately, this minority group faces a number of disadvantages including an increased risk of depression. This onset of depression can establish vulnerability for academic difficulties on top of lack of positive self–image and self–esteem. The results that were gathered confirmation that academic performance is significantly correlated with depressive symptoms and that cognitive behavioral therapy of a school setting style is useful in decreasing the symptoms of depression and anxiety. According to Bronfenbrenner's theory of ecological systems the influences in the school and home should make an effect on the child, Study 3 supports this view since its results showed that when CBT was delivered in a school setting the students felt comfortable and showed positive results. The results from these studies present many implications, one being that for Hispanic adolescents the use of a school setting delivery method of CBT is useful and should be incorporated into schools that are in need of this intervention. Another implication would be that these resources be applied to schools and communities of low income and populated by low minority groups since treatment is far out of reach for them. Another suggestion pronounces that the differences in boys and girls experiencing depressive symptoms should be considered to maximize patient Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Case Management Essay The focus of this paper is case management. Case management has evolved into a diverse profession which includes many disciplines and is exercised in many settings. Case management involves the process of coordinating multiple services on behalf of clients and has been practiced now for several decades. Many disciplines have engaged in case management and identify themselves as case managers. Case managers work with many populations and settings and play an important role in today's society. The following analysis explores how case management developed, how it is defined, its components, and how it relates to other nursing care delivery models. All these aspects are reviewed with the purpose to show the importance of case management...show more content... Today almost every major health care organization has a case management program managing and directing the use of health care services for their clients. Also, case management by payer organization is recognized as external case management (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). Hospitals recognized the need for the case management model in the mid–1980s to manage the lengths of stay of hospitalized patients and the treatment plans (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). In 1983, the Medicare prospective payment program was implemented which allowed hospitals to be reimbursed a set payment based on the patient's diagnosis, or Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), regardless of what treatment was provided or how long the patient was hospitalized (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). To keep the costs below the diagnosis related payment, hospitals had to manage efficiently the treatment provided to a client and reduce the client's length of stay (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). Case management, or internal case management "within the walls" of the health care facilities was created to streamline costs while maintaining quality care (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). Hospitals felt the pinch of payment shortfalls in the early to mid–1990s resulting from the prospective payment program (Daniels & Frater, 2011). Due to the nature of this dramatic change in organizational culture engaged hospital employees and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Approach to Case Study A case study is a description of an actual administrative situation involving a decision to be made or a problem to be solved. It can be a real situation that actually happened just as described, or portions have been disguised for reasons of privacy. Most case studies are written in such a way that the reader takes the place of the manager whose responsibility is to make decisions to help solve the problem. In almost all case studies, a decision must be made, although that decision might be to leave the situation as it is and do nothing. Answering ACase Study It helps to have a system when sitting down to answer a case study as the amount of information and issues to be resolved can initially seem quite overwhelming. The...show more content... Some issues may appear to be urgent, but upon closer examination are relatively unimportant, while others may be far more important (relative to solving our problem) than urgent. You want to deal with important issues in order of urgency. Important issues are those that have a significant effect on: 1.profitability, 2.strategic direction of the company, 3.source of competitive advantage, 4.morale of the company 's employees, and/or 5.customer satisfaction. The problem statement may be framed as a question, e.g.: What should Joe do? or How can Mr. Smith improve market share? Analyzing Case Data In analyzing the case data, you are trying to answer the following: 1.Why or how did these issues arise? You are trying to determine cause and effect for the problems identified. It may be helpful to think of the organization in question as consisting of the following components: 1.resources, such as materials, equipment, or supplies, and 2.people who transform these resources using 3.processes, which creates something of greater value. 2.Who is affected most by this issues? You are trying to identify who are the relevant stakeholders to the situation, and who will be affected by the decisions to be made. 3.What are the constraints and opportunities implicit to this situation? It is very rare that resources are not a constraint, and allocations must be made on the assumption that not enough will be available to please Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Case Formulation Case formulation is a theoretically based explanation of information obtained from assessment, which offers a hypothesis about the cause and nature of presenting problems. (Westmeyer 2003, Kuyken et al. 2005, 2012, Persons 2005). Case formulation helps to identify and summarise the individuals core problems. It helps the to explain why the individual has developed the difficulties they have and shows how the indivduals difficulties relate to one another based on psychological knowledge. With understanding their feelings and beliefs and intervention can be planned if needed. This plan would be drawn up with the individual and would be revisited every few days. Compassion and respect is another ethical principle that a nurse must show for others that he or she comes into contact with, including the mother if suspected of child abuse. The personal values of this nursing student would first suspect child abuse especially if the child has bilateral fractures of the femur. Abuse toward others is not tolerated in this author's personal life. Respect for others is another value of this nursing student. Though showing this respect toward others is difficult at times when faced with patients and families who continually show a lack respect for themselves and others. Respect for this eighth month old child is easily done, but to put aside personal basis and continue this respect toward the mother if abuse is the cause of the injuries may be difficult. Responsibility for ones own actions and owning up to those actions is a value of this nursing student. This author attempts to treat others fairly, equally, and the same way that she (this author) would like to be treated. These personal values are difficult to practice at times when others that this nursing student comes into contact do not have similar ethical values. If this scenario happened in an outpatient clinic or urgent care center and there were physicians who were more dedicated to patient safety a report to child protective services may have been made regarding the child's injuries. That's when she faced a difficult ethical decision: She could order the shirts from a low–cost company in China or she could order them from a fair–trade company in San Francisco, which provided safe conditions and higher wages for the workers who made the clothing. The fair trade shirts were $28.65,making the grand total for her project $8,595. In contrast, the Chinese T–shirts were $5.50 each, and the company's Web site promised fast and free delivery for a grand total of $1,100. LeBlanc remembered from her Venture Capital Finance class that startup companies need to focus on making the most money during the first two years. She also knew that the T–shirts from China would be cheaper so that she could create a more elaborate design with more graphics and color. She realized her school was a "testing campus" for Fashionforward! and that if her marketing module worked, her internship work would spread to other college campuses. She thought of how easy it would be for a factory in China to produce large quantities of shirts to give away for free as a promotion that she could promote on the Facebook page she had worked so hard on. She also wondered if the higher cost of the T–shirts would affect the grade the CEO gave her for the internship. On the other hand, her International Management class had exposed her to the harsh reality of working conditions in China: low wages, rigorous work schedule, poor safety regulations, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
