Does Salt make Ice melt Faster?
Project Plan
Salt is known to be used on icy roads in certain areas of the country in the winter season to help clear
roadways to make them safer for travel. Salt causes a reaction that lowers the freezing point of water.
In this experiment we will test this method of applying salt to ice to see if for certain this is true, and
how much faster the salt melts if so. In this experiment, the Independent Variable will be adding Salt
to the ice and the Dependent variable will be the time it takes the ice to melt.
The Plan is to use two ice cubes in separate containers, and add ice to only one of these. Each will be
timed and observed for the duration it takes both to melt, and data will be ... Show more content on

* Place one ice cube into each container. * One Ice cube will have nothing added to it. * To other Ice
Cube add ½ tsp of salt (sprinkled over top). * Start your timer(s). * Record how long it takes for each
Ice Cube to melt completely, taking progress notes as you go. For instance, the percentage of the ice
cube that has melted at 5 minutes, 20 minutes, etc.
Reasoning
I chose this method to keep the two Ice cubes separated during the experiment, and to see the two
individual results of adding salt, or adding nothing to the ice. Keeping the Ice cubes separate allows no
error in collecting data on each individual subject. Adding salt to one will not interfere with data
collected on the ice cube melting with no additives. Some studies were very similar, but most used
many different substances to test how quickly Ice would melt. These included for instance Sugar, and
Sand.
Sequence of Events:
The experiment will start with two ice cubes. One will have nothing added to it, the other will have ½
tsp of salt sprinkled over it. Each will be separate on two different plates/containers. Time will be kept
with a stopwatch, and notes will be taken throughout the experiment on the percentage of ice that has
melted at certain points in time.
Tools
A timer will be used to record the amount of time it takes each ice cube to melt. As well as a medicine
cup to measure the ½ tsp of salt that will be added. The Stopwatch used

The Tao, Te Tao
Through religion adherents are enabled to fulfill our need to search for and find meaning within our
own lives. Many religions help to provide its followers with this fulfillment through the principal
beliefs, which are held as sacred. Followers of Daoism follow traditions based on philosophy and
connectedness to nature and the world around us. Through this Daoists are enabled to forge a strong
bond with the world around them, using it to empower them, this then allows for the followers to feel
fulfillment in their lives as they strive to attain inner peace and immortality.
Daoism revolves around our interaction with Tao and the flow of Chi. The Tao (otherwise known as
the way) can be described as the order of the universe affecting everything throughout life. Humans
cannot understand the Tao and its working throughout the universe. The Tao manifests itself within
our world in many different forms, it is found within nature, the world and the universe. The Tao Te
Ching written by Laozi describes the Tao as The Tao that can be spoken of is not the constant Tao; The
name that can be named Is not the constant Name. (Tao Te Ching Chapter 1) Another description of
the Tao comes from the sage Chuang Tzu who defines the Tao as The way is to man as rivers and
lakes are to fish, the natural condition of life. (www.bbc.co.uk.) From this we can see how the Tao is a
concept that cannot be understood, it is a part of the supernatural world transcending anything that we

Long-Term Effects Of Divorce On Children
After reading the reading the article on Long term effects of divorce on children, I believe community
divorce is most difficult on both of marital partners. The divorcing individuals usually have friend that
they made while they were together. After separation, it becomes difficult for them to still see their
friends but separately. Even, for friends situation becomes awkward to be friends with both of
divorcing individuals. In order for the divorcing individuals to move on with their life, they either
have start over to make their own new individual friend circle or they have to pick and choose from
their old friends.

Before The Tylenol Crisis
Introduction
In January 1886 a renowned family business, Johnson Johnson was founded in New Brunswick, New
Jersey, by Robert Wood Johnson along with his brothers James Wood Johnson and Edward Mead
Johnson. These three recognized physicians were inspired at the time by Joseph Lister, who was a
pioneer of antiseptic surgery, seized the opportunity and started the company. This Company was
established at a time when sterile surgical practices were deficient in the medical field. The success of
their medical products, including sterile sutures and dressing materials, allowed the young company to
grow rapidly. Thus, Johnson and Johnson today emerged from a small company that made surgical
dressings into a multinational pharmaceutical giant.

However, immediately after the cyanide poisonings, its market share was drastically reduced to
approximately 7 percent. Investigations at the time revealed that once the product reached the shelves,
some of them were removed from the shelves, tampered and contaminated with deadly cyanide
ingredients and then resealed, repackaged and replaced on the shelves by unscrupulous persons for
motives unknown in pharmacies and grocery stores, causing the deaths. This crisis resulted in a recall
of the Tylenol products on the market and Johnson Johnson s executives had to weigh several pressing
issues for example, the loss in its market share that made it difficult for the company to take a decision
in the cyanide crises. This recall could further seriously put a dent in the intangibles; that may lead to
the loss of public confidence and damage to the brand. The competition in the analgesic market was
fierce and as such competitors would try to make Tylenol s loss their

Hunger of Memory
Hunger of Memory: The Education of Richard Rodríguez
Hunger of Memory is an autobiography of the writer Richard Rodríguez and his transition from youth
to manhood told through a series of recollected stories. The premise of his writing was centered
mainly on his struggle to maintain both his Mexican heritage and closeness to his Spanish speaking
family, while at the same time being assimilated into American culture and obtaining an advanced
education. Within the book Richard Rodríguez illustrates his contempt for affirmative action and
bilingual education, two practices that had directly burdened his life while growing up. One of his
main conflicts was grounded in his own family unintentionally being pulled away from him by ...

One significant point in his life was when he worked in construction for a summer. This was the first
time he allowed his skin to become dark. He was astonished to learn that many of his colleagues had
college diplomas. They did not fit into his preconception that all workers were poor because in fact,
many of them were middle to upper class. Following that summer, he declared the curse of physical
shame was broken by the sun; I was no longer ashamed of my body. In 1967 African American civil
rights leaders brought attention to the mediocre education that black students in high school were
receiving and how it was not properly preparing them for college. This also sparked Hispanic
American activists to complain that there were not enough Hispanics attending college, concluding
that this too was because of racism. Soon after many African American and Hispanic American sit ins,
protests and marches for change in the school systems, Rodríguez was offered numerous financial and
academic opportunities to help carry him through his college career.
After graduating from college, Rodríguez went on to find himself a teaching job, though many schools
ended up proactively seeking him out for employment without his prior inquiry. An overwhelming
wave of career opportunities came flooding towards him, hailing from

The At The North Texas Teen Book
Hi everyone! This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending The North Texas Teen Book Festical
in Irving, TX. It was so much fun, and honestly it was one of the best weekends of my life. This post
is just an overview of some pictures and the things I did. Let s begin! (All the bloggers/booktubers I
mention will be linked at the end!)
Friday
Friday was educator s day, but they had an author luncheon that was open to the public. The authors at
the luncheon were Sarah Dessen, Ruta Sepetys, and E. Lockhart. I met up with my friend, Avery, to go
to the event. As we were sitting in the lobby, we saw Marie Lu walk in and I started freaking out. I
wanted to go and ask for a picture, but I was too shy to go up to her. We went inside and sat at a table
close to the front (closest to the reserve author table).
As we were sitting there, I look in the corner and Ruta Sepetys (AKA ONE OF MY FAVORITE
AUTHORS) is standing in the corner. Avery and I went over to talk to Ruta, and she was absolutely
adorable. If you ever have the chance to meet Ruta, please seize your opportunity because she s
absolutely brilliant. Avery and I got a picture with her.

We finally got the courage to take a picture with Marie Lu, so here s my picture with Marie:

I was able to get my entire Legend trilogy signed by her the next day. I didn t get a chance to talk to
her during the signing because there wasn t enough time.

Mortgage Crisis Essay
Did you know that you can take up to 30 years to pay off a mortgage in Canada?
It can be quite the experience being approved for a mortgage, especially if it is your first. However,
once your mortgage payments kick in, the reality of their financial implications dawns.
Mortgage payments can exert a heavy burden on your expenses. Besides paying a mortgage, you have
other equally important things to do with your money. Life goes on even after the mortgage. However,
the thought of paying for a house month after month, year after year, for thirty years, is close to living
a never ending nightmare.
But there s good news for you. You can actually complete paying off your 30 year mortgage
(assuming a $222,000 home at 4% interest) within 11 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Any extra, however small, payment you add to your monthly payments goes towards reducing your
principal amount. At the end of the day, you will end paying your mortgage in a shorter time period
and save in interest.
2. Cut Down on Your Non Essential Daily Expenditure
Having lunch is a necessity that you can t do without. But who said you must buy lunch every day?
What about bringing your own lunch from home? Let s assume that you normally spend $100 a month
on lunch. If you put this towards your mortgage payment, you will end up saving yourself more than
$25,000 in interest! Add to this whatever you spend on Starbucks every month and you will see your
interest crumbling faster than cookies. There are so many non essential expenditure that you can
scrape or skim off to put your mortgage payments on the fast track.
3. Consider Refinancing Your Mortgage
No one wants to be tied down to a mortgage for 30 years! If the above stringent measures are not your
cup of coffee, you might want to consider refinancing your mortgage for a shorter term, say 15 years
instead of 30. Refinancing your home allows you to get financing to pay off the initial loan and
instead sign up for another one with a lower interest, which is payable within a shorter

The Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) established by WIPO is an online domain name
dispute resolution system for domain name disputes and is commonly referred to as the ICANN

formed in 1999 with the one of its objectives is to deal with the problem of cybersquatting in a
comprehensive manner outside the judicial system. Therefore, WIPO s Uniform Dispute Resolution

general requirements must be met. First, the challenged domain name must have been registered by

The God s Wife Of Amun
Beginning this middle kingdom of Egypt, the most significant position a women can hold, was God s

Kingdom, the God s Wife of Amun was solely just one among many. The God s Wife was an
honorable name given to a woman (usually the upper class women of Egypt) who would aid the high
priest in ceremonies and tend to the god s statue. Soon at the beginning of the Third Intermediate
Period, the God s Wife of Amun was in the same in authority with the king and successfully reigned
Upper Egypt. During the New Kingdom period, the most well known of the God s Wives was no other

The Issue Of Health Insurance
Currently, the issue of health insurance has been a bone of contention for the public regarding whether
the United States government should provide this health plan or not. People often possess different
perspectives and refer to pros and cons on both sides of the spectrum. While some believes a universal
healthcare system will set a foundation for a lower quality of service, increasing governmental finance
deficit, and higher taxes, others do not hold the same thought. A universal healthcare system brings
enormous advantages rather than disadvantages, such as all inclusive population coverage, convenient
accessibility, low time cost, and affordable medical cost, all of which not only provide minimum
insurance to the disadvantaged but also improve the efficiency of medical resources distribution.
When it comes to the healthcare system, the root of it can be tracked back to the nineteenth century. At
that time, compared to a private company, most of the service providers were hospitals, which provide
a people free charge service and inexpensive medicine because they were not profit oriented
institutions. To some degree, the expenditure of a household on healthcare at that time is lower than
the one of a modern household. Hospitals played an important role in offering the disadvantaged
healthcare resources and fundamental treatment. As the number of patients increased, they still needed
working capital to support their expenditure. Most sources of money were from

Macbeth Rait Castle Essay
J. M. Barrie expressed that A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a
whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises.
Ghosts were created when the first man woke in the night . The unknown is a terrifying notion, as
many people are afraid of what they cannot explain. There are many haunted locations in Scotland
where the Shakespearean play Macbeth takes place, and many of which are considered the most
haunted places on earth. Several of these places are castles that were once lived in, and had terrible
events unfold within their walls. Such as murderous deeds and betrayal, much like the play when

Hunting In Alaska
Many people hunt because, like people in Alaska need to hunt for food and hunting keeps animal
populations steady and not out of control. I hunt and from my experiences I have killed a snow

outdoor activity that you can t do all year. People I know have been devastated because hunters have
been unsafe and killed their dog because they were too excited. Hunting helps control animal
population with safari hunts, conservation hunting, and is the best way to protect Africa s lion s.

Still, here are two reasons why safari hunts benefit hunters who pay for it. The first reason is, Many
countries could not bear those added administrative costs. They would have to forgo hunting and the
benefits derived from regulated tourist safari hunting. Many lion populations would perish with the
loss of hunting habitat, decline in enforcement and the rise in the lion livestock conflict. says John J.
Jackson, III . John is telling us that many of the countries need those added costs to hunters coming
overseas to hunt animals. The second reason is that when lion habitats are in hunting areas, Most lion
habitat is in hunting areas that, in aggregate, are larger than national parks. There is no other place for
them! A major source of revenue for the operating budgets of wildlife and enforcement authorities is
from licensed, regulated tourist safari hunting. A threatened listing would raise the cost of safaris,
cause the loss of habitat and prey, and upset local residents by taking away their benefits. Says John J.

The most recent drug survey, conducted in March 2015, finds that a slim majority (53%) of Americans
say Marijuana should be made legal, compared with 44% who want it to be illegal , and the opinions
have changed drastically since 1969, when only 12% favored legalizing marijuana use. Marijuana is a
plant that people use for various things, including medicinal use, recreational use, and personal use.
Although most people believe marijuana is a dangerous drug and inflicts damage to society, legalizing
it actually has many benefits, from marijuana having positive health effects, to not being as dangerous
to other legal drugs like Alcohol and Tabaco, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only but also isn t as dangerous as most drugs that are legal in America for example legal drugs

keeping marijuana illegal by billions of dollars and use that tax money on other important things and
have police officers focus on the serious offenders rather than some young adult with possession of a
harmless drug (marijuana). Lastly, skeptics about the legalization of marijuana having no benefits at

Angelina Grimke Rhetoric
Angelina Grimke s Appeal to Christian Women of the South was created to request the assistance of
Christian women in the South to free their slaves and fight for the abolitionist cause against slavery.
This specific passage captures her main rhetorical appeal to her audience in the form of ethos. She
uses her status as an aristocratic southern Christian just like her audience to enhance her ethos. She
describes the bond she shares with the audience by referring to them as respected friends. She calls
upon them to share the burden of attempting to eliminate slavery because she trusts them and feels an
interest in them.
She creates a persona of an earnest and humble individual to appeal to her audience. By sharing
likenesses with her intended readers and communicating a true generous Christian tone, she enhances
her persuasiveness. Throughout the entire passage, she establishes a friendly voice by using terms that
communicate a gentle, friendly feeling. For example, she states that she wrote to the specific audience
of Christian women because she felt a deep and tender interest in your present and eternal welfare.
The terms deep, tender, and welfare emulate the feeling of a caring mother. Through her tone, ethos,
and language, she attempted to build trust with the audience from paragraph 1. She took on this
position when attempting to lead her fellow Christians.

Essay Assignment 1
Anti Black Stereotypes in Modern Media Stereotypes are defined as an oversimplified image or idea
about a specific type of person. It is believed that stereotypes about African Americans began in the
United States around the 18th century. Anti Black stereotypes arguably the most developed racist
stereotypes in racial framing and have been used as foundations for the capture, enslavement, and
later, the subjugation of African American people. Stating that stereotypes are just a joke is an
understatement of the consequential after math racial images and stereotypes have on the African
American population. Even stereotypes that are considered positive are often concealed with negative
implications and reasons as to why they exist. Most people may think they only hold stereotypes in the
back of their head, but studies show that people are more likely to fall back on them in making
judgments when they feel challenged, face uncertainty, or experience sensory overload. Using
information from class, comparisons from the films we have watched and Ed Guerrero s Framing
Blackness, this paper will analyze the stereotypes in the television show Empire. Empire is an
American soap opera drama created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. The summary of the show is
that hip hop mogul turned CEO Dwight Walker, better known to the public as Lucious Lyon, has been

The Top Three Forms Of Print Media
Magazines are one of the top three forms of print media in the industry with approximately 250 of
them geared towards children and teens. The topics in these current magazines range from sexualized
girls magazines, kids/fun magazines, to educational magazines for girls. With this information, the
founders of Kiki Magazine saw an opportunity to captivate another style within the audience group of
nine to fourteen year old pre teen girls. They wanted to create a magazine that looked like the classy
newsstand magazines older girls were attracted to yet, also feature design based content. The
magazines main goal is to promote self confidence as well as the compatibility between intelligence
and creativity among young girls. In pursuance of successfully assessing their magazine s market
potential, Kiki must effectively gain market research by collecting secondary data and primary data
such as focus groups and open ended questionnaires. They must also develop and maintain a vital long
term plan addressing their continuous need to strengthen their customer base due to the aging of that
pre teen market segment.
In order to properly capture the target market, we must have substantial and dependable market

Violence Next Door Analysis
The social stratification of people can be affected by many things. In most cases people are affected by
economic factors. In class we watched documentaries that shows different economic struggles and
other structural inequalities. The documentaries were Violence Next Door: Growing up in the Favelas
and The Other Side of Immigration. They both showed different economic factors from different
places. One of the documentaries we watched in class called Violence Next Door: Growing up in the

This documentary interviewed families from Mexico that have members who crossed the border to
The United States to find better labor opportunities. The border has been set to protect illegal
immigrants from crossing the border. Despite the protection of the borders, several Mexicans are able
to cross by being smuggled in or finding their own way in. They prefer to go to The U.S because they
get paid more per hour than they would earn in Mexico. They return after a couple of months and
sometimes years, but they cross the border because there are factors in Mexico that drive them away.
The economic factors that affects these families are NAFTA, government corruption, and lack of
technology and resources. The North American Free Trade Agreement is a treaty between Mexico, the
United States, and Canada. The trade agreement made costs of production higher for people in
Mexico. Importation of goods such as meats, fruits, and veggies started to come in from the United
States and caused loss of businesses in Mexico. The government in Mexico does not provide funding
for businesses to grow. Local officials don t share money provided by the government fairly. Subsidy
for businesses are difficult to find because their government don t notify people when funding is
available. The mayor is corrupted in a way that he bribes others for votes and picks certain people to
help. The government is also the reason why there is a lack of technology and resources for businesses
to grow. The business owners could not afford the technology for fast production like the United
States can provide. These economic factors affects the families that are left behind in Mexico while a
member crosses the border. Families are torn apart for months and sometimes years just so they can
make a better living from the money earned in the U.S. The children of families that cross the border

Curling Vs. Chess
Most people don t think about the games curling or chess much. Of those that do, most would consider
these two activities to have few to no similarities, except that neither of their championships are going
to be shown on ESPN. Curling is a game played on ice that consists of multiple rounds, called ends, of
each team taking turns sliding stones to have the most closest to the center of a target, known as the
house. Chess is a board game played by two players taking turns moving their playing pieces, each
with different abilities, across a board with the goal of capturing the opponent s king. Though these
may seem like two mutually exclusive activities, they do share one important element: they both rely
heavily on strategy. The games curling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In curling, the act of using a shot for the purpose of removing an opponent s stone from play is known
as a takeout shot. One primarily uses takeouts for the purpose of removing an opponent s stone in
scoring position from play. This can prevent the opponent from scoring during that end. Chess also has
an emphasis on removing opponents important pieces from play. Players often take any opportunity to
remove an opponent s queen or rook from play, even if removing it results in the player losing one of
their pieces. This happens because when one removes these pieces, it makes it more difficult for the
opponent to reach their final goal of capturing their king. However, in each of these games, one may
also remove an opponent s pieces used for guarding others. In curling, one may take out the opponent
s guards to make it easier for them to place their own stones in a scoring position. In chess, a player
may remove the opponent s pawns for the for the purpose of making it easier to place the opponent s
king in checkmate. In both these games taking out the opponent s pieces clearly have important
strategic benefits that help oneself as well as making it more difficult for their opponent. Taking out an
opponent s pieces shows another tool used in each of these strategies, but these tools are only useful

Mental Disorders And The United States
Mental disorders affect many people throughout the United States. Although it is not a direct link to
criminal behavior, it is a major risk factor and oftentimes criminal offenders are found to have them.
Mental disorders cause their victims delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and aggression. The
definition of mental disorder is a vast number of mental conditions, ranging from the mild to the
serious that impede one s ability to function. Sometimes with the more serious disorders may absolve
an individual of criminal responsibility (Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). There are several different kinds of
mental disorders including but not limited to schizophrenia, psychopathy, depressive disorders, and
antisocial personality disorder (Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). In this paper, each different kind of mental
disorder will be discussed along with the discussing the fallacy of the public believing that many
people get off with the not guilty by reason of insanity plea. It is hypothesized that individuals who

The Discovery of X-Rays Essay
The Discovery of X Rays
X rays were discovered by accident in 1895 by the German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen.
Roentgen was already an accomplished scientist with forty eight published papers. He had a reputation
among the scientific community as a dedicated scientist with precise experimental methods. Roentgen
had been conducting experiments at the University of Wurzburg on the effect of cathode rays on the
luminescence of certain chemicals. Roentgen had placed a cathode ray tube, which is a partially
evacuated glass tube with metal electrodes at each end, in a black cardboard box in his darkened
laboratory. He sent electricity through the cathodre ray tube and noticed something strange his

During an experiment he placed his hand between the source of the X ray, the cathode ray tube and a
screen and saw the faint outline of the bones of his hand. It was the first X ray picture. The more dense
bone absorbed more X rays then the less dense flesh producing an image of his hand. He soon learned
that photographic plates were sensitive to X ray as they are to light and was thus able to make the first
X ray photography. These first Roentgen exposures were of various metal objects that were locked in
a wooden case and of his wife s hand.
On December 2, 1895, Roentgen sent his paper titled, Concerning a New Kind of Ray: Preliminary
Report to the Physical Medical Association who published it in their 1895 volume of the minutes of
the association. His report was soon published in several magazines around the world and in daily
newspapers causing a tremendous stir. On January 23, 1896, about a year before the Invisible Man
was published, Roentgen delivered his first public lecture on X rays at the meeting of the Physical
Medical Association. During the lecture, he asked a well known anatomist to have his hand
photographed using X rays. The photo came out good and was passed around. The hall erupted in
applause and cheers for Roentgen for everyone saw the practical uses of this new ray. Less than

Analysis Of The Book The First Thing
The first thing I noticed that was unique about the way the book was written was that the entire novel
takes place in just a single day. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such
as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc.
However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very
clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically,
but mentally because of self repression), and lastly, the devastating effects of war (as shown by
Septimus s mental condition).
From early on in the book, the reader can tell that social class is a very big part of British society.

Yet, while Clarissa follows the heavy class based system of British society, she also finds herself
limited by it. Forcing her to alter her identity to play the expected part in society and maintain her
social status/class. She admires Sally, and how she would voice her opinions and do things her own
way no matter what anyone else thought of her, in a way she envies her for having the freedom she
never had. There is a big gap between what Clarissa thinks and what she does/how she allows people
to perceive her. Even mentally stifling her own ideas that do not fit into the role she is attempting to
play. This leads directly into her feelings of loneliness because while she interacts with a lot of people
and is married, there is a distance between her true self and everyone else. Throughout the book, the
reader is given insight to how each character perceives another vs. what they actually say out loud, if
they say anything at all. This gives the reader the ability to see this distance between everyone, even
Clarissa s own husband is unable to tell her that he loves her, yet he really does love her on the inside.
There are several other forms of repression, such as

The Determination Of Iron And Vitamin Tablets Essay
In Experiment 5, Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron in Vitamin Tablets we will discover the
importance of spectrophotometry which is a way to measure how much light is absorbed by a
chemical substance that will measure the potency of light as beams in order to detect the light in a
sample solution. Spectrophotometric is a quick, reliable method that measures light in a quantitated
way, ensuring that electromagnetic radiation may be absorbed by matter. In order to understand how
radiation is absorbed you ll need to know that it depends heavily on the concentration of the
wavelength and the absorbing chemical within a sample. In this experiment, we will be exploring the
iron tablet that will be dissolved in acid so that it can cause reduction transformation into Fe2+ using
hydroquinone, and turned up using o phenathroline to create a colored complex. We will then use
those reagents to begin our procedure to sum up with our finish results. The finish results of each
sample solution (ranging in different mL ranges) will be measured by light absorbency using 508nm
wavelength. Understanding Beer s Law, we know that A=ɛbc with A equaling the absorbency, ɛ is the
molar absorptivity (M 1cm 1), b being the pathlength measured using cm, and c is the molar
concentration of a solution. Beer s law specifically explores the quantitative analysis of a
concentration of the radiation absorbed vs. the concentration of the absorbing chemical. The light
absorbency of the beam

Theory And Developments Of The Direct Injection,...
Abstract This paper reviews the concepts and developments of the direct injection, stratified charge
combustion engine; focusing on 4 stroke petrol commercial automotive applications. Introduction The
main objective of the direct injection (DI) stratified charge engine is to combine the benefits of the
petrol spark ignition (SI) engine, controlled and complete combustion of charge at full load; and diesel
compression ignition (CI) engines, lean burning and higher compression ratios and efficiencies[1].
Direct injection Spark Ignition (Petrol Engine) Direct injection spark ignition (DISI) engines are
relatively new to the large scale commercial market, and are slowly becoming more widespread. The
demands for higher performance whilst realizing lower fuel consumption and maintaining cleaner
emissions, have the potential to be met by the direct injection spark ignition engine[2]. The
thermodynamic potential of DISI engines DISI engines have the potential to have greater fuel
economy that diesel engines at partial loadings though use of stratified charge and late fuel injection;
and have better performance than the naturally aspirated spark ignition engines at high loads by
operating under stoichiometric or slightly rich conditions utilizing early fuel injection [3]. There are
two basic strategies for preparing the air fuel mixture used in direct injection technology. Figure 1
illustrates the preparation of air fuel mixtures used to optimize both partial and higher loads. At

  • 2. Int1 Task 3 Essay INT Task 3 Does Salt make Ice melt Faster? Project Plan Salt is known to be used on icy roads in certain areas of the country in the winter season to help clear roadways to make them safer for travel. Salt causes a reaction that lowers the freezing point of water. In this experiment we will test this method of applying salt to ice to see if for certain this is true, and how much faster the salt melts if so. In this experiment, the Independent Variable will be adding Salt to the ice and the Dependent variable will be the time it takes the ice to melt. The Plan is to use two ice cubes in separate containers, and add ice to only one of these. Each will be timed and observed for the duration it takes both to melt, and data will be ... For instance, the percentage of the ice cube that has melted at 5 minutes, 20 minutes, etc. Reasoning I chose this method to keep the two Ice cubes separated during the experiment, and to see the two individual results of adding salt, or adding nothing to the ice. Keeping the Ice cubes separate allows no error in collecting data on each individual subject. Adding salt to one will not interfere with data collected on the ice cube melting with no additives. Some studies were very similar, but most used many different substances to test how quickly Ice would melt. These included for instance Sugar, and Sand. Sequence of Events: The experiment will start with two ice cubes. One will have nothing added to it, the other will have ½ tsp of salt sprinkled over it. Each will be separate on two different plates/containers. Time will be kept with a stopwatch, and notes will be taken throughout the experiment on the percentage of ice that has melted at certain points in time. Tools A timer will be used to record the amount of time it takes each ice cube to melt. As well as a medicine cup to measure the ½ tsp of salt that will be added. The Stopwatch used ... Following that summer, he declared the curse of physical shame was broken by the sun; I was no longer ashamed of my body. In 1967 African American civil rights leaders brought attention to the mediocre education that black students in high school were receiving and how it was not properly preparing them for college. This also sparked Hispanic American activists to complain that there were not enough Hispanics attending college, concluding that this too was because of racism. Soon after many African American and Hispanic American sit ins, protests and marches for change in the school systems, Rodríguez was offered numerous financial and academic opportunities to help carry him through his college career. John is telling us that many of the countries need those added costs to hunters coming overseas to hunt animals. The second reason is that when lion habitats are in hunting areas, Most lion habitat is in hunting areas that, in aggregate, are larger than national parks. There is no other place for them! A major source of revenue for the operating budgets of wildlife and enforcement authorities is from licensed, regulated tourist safari hunting. Angelina Grimke Rhetoric Angelina Grimke s Appeal to Christian Women of the South was created to request the assistance of Christian women in the South to free their slaves and fight for the abolitionist cause against slavery. This specific passage captures her main rhetorical appeal to her audience in the form of ethos. She uses her status as an aristocratic southern Christian just like her audience to enhance her ethos. She describes the bond she shares with the audience by referring to them as respected friends. She calls upon them to share the burden of attempting to eliminate slavery because she trusts them and feels an interest in them. She creates a persona of an earnest and humble individual to appeal to her audience. By sharing likenesses with her intended readers and communicating a true generous Christian tone, she enhances her persuasiveness. Throughout the entire passage, she establishes a friendly voice by using terms that communicate a gentle, friendly feeling. For example, she states that she wrote to the specific audience of Christian women because she felt a deep and tender interest in your present and eternal welfare. The terms deep, tender, and welfare emulate the feeling of a caring mother. Through her tone, ethos, and language, she attempted to build trust with the audience from paragraph 1. It is believed that stereotypes about African Americans began in the United States around the 18th century. • 44. The Determination Of Iron And Vitamin Tablets Essay In Experiment 5, Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron in Vitamin Tablets we will discover the importance of spectrophotometry which is a way to measure how much light is absorbed by a chemical substance that will measure the potency of light as beams in order to detect the light in a sample solution. Spectrophotometric is a quick, reliable method that measures light in a quantitated way, ensuring that electromagnetic radiation may be absorbed by matter. In order to understand how radiation is absorbed you ll need to know that it depends heavily on the concentration of the wavelength and the absorbing chemical within a sample. In this experiment, we will be exploring the iron tablet that will be dissolved in acid so that it can cause reduction transformation into Fe2+ using hydroquinone, and turned up using o phenathroline to create a colored complex. We will then use those reagents to begin our procedure to sum up with our finish results. The finish results of each sample solution (ranging in different mL ranges) will be measured by light absorbency using 508nm wavelength. Understanding Beer s Law, we know that A=ɛbc with A equaling the absorbency, ɛ is the molar absorptivity (M 1cm 1), b being the pathlength measured using cm, and c is the molar concentration of a solution. Beer s law specifically explores the quantitative analysis of a concentration of the radiation absorbed vs. the concentration of the absorbing chemical. The light absorbency of the beam ... • 46. Theory And Developments Of The Direct Injection,... Abstract This paper reviews the concepts and developments of the direct injection, stratified charge combustion engine; focusing on 4 stroke petrol commercial automotive applications. Introduction The main objective of the direct injection (DI) stratified charge engine is to combine the benefits of the petrol spark ignition (SI) engine, controlled and complete combustion of charge at full load; and diesel compression ignition (CI) engines, lean burning and higher compression ratios and efficiencies[1]. Direct injection Spark Ignition (Petrol Engine) Direct injection spark ignition (DISI) engines are relatively new to the large scale commercial market, and are slowly becoming more widespread. The demands for higher performance whilst realizing lower fuel consumption and maintaining cleaner emissions, have the potential to be met by the direct injection spark ignition engine[2]. The thermodynamic potential of DISI engines DISI engines have the potential to have greater fuel economy that diesel engines at partial loadings though use of stratified charge and late fuel injection; and have better performance than the naturally aspirated spark ignition engines at high loads by operating under stoichiometric or slightly rich conditions utilizing early fuel injection [3]. There are two basic strategies for preparing the air fuel mixture used in direct injection technology. Figure 1 illustrates the preparation of air fuel mixtures used to optimize both partial and higher loads. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
