Street Corner Society Synopsis Essay
1. I would say that the characterization of lower class neighborhoods as being disorganized is false.
While from an outsider s view, things may appear hectic and chaotic, there is a finely designed
structure among the groups involved in the areas. Individuals find themselves grouping together with
others who have similar aspirations and desires; in Street Corner Society, this is seen as the ‘corner
boys and ‘college boys . Corner boys grew up, not in schools, but with each other on the area street
corners. Doc was the general leader of the corner boys. College boys grew up and moved on into the
college life. The Norton Street Settlement House would see the college boys as having aspirations that
needed cultivating; while the corner boys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would bowl well for a while, but then would be attacked by his fellow followers, causing his
scores to fall. His social status effected his scores so much so that when his friendship with Doc wasn
t as strong, Long John s scores fell drastically. The followers weren t able to win because they wouldn
t let one of their own excel. The exception to this might have come when Whyte himself won once.
This was explained, some what, because he had a close relationship with Doc and he was allowed to
win. 3. The differences between the corner boys and college boys is best seen in the life of their
respective leaders. The former had a boy named Doc; a kid who grew up on Norton Street who had a
shriveled arm, but didn t let himself or anyone else use it as an excuse. His rise to power was by the
way of the fist. After an unwanted fight, he began to just beat up almost anyone who disrespected him,
or at least, didn t do as he wished. He eventually grew a group of friends/members that came to be
known as the Nortons. This group generally took labor jobs and didn t have much of a secondary
education. The college boys had Chick. Chick was eight when he moved from Italy to Cornerville. He
grew up struggling in the United States because of his speech and because of his minority status as an
Italian in school and at college. He was able to afford college because his mother had saved up enough
money for him to do so, and he had worked many different

Analysis Of The West In My Antonia
The Frontier
(An analysis of the west) My Antonia is a novel about the frontier. It is set in the early 1900 s and is
about what happened during this time. Nebraska is the state My Antonia is set in, but most of the
novel goes for a lot of the states in the west. According to Kathleen Norris, Cather had the great good
fortune to have lived among the first generation of white settlers in 1880s Nebraska, and she gives
witness to their time and place in such a way that American literature will never forget them (Norris).
This quote helps the reader see that the author, Willa Cather, had a reliable point of view when she
was writing this story because it was a lot of the stuff that she went through and saw. As a result of this
many believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The environment is very important to do with the way people lived. The environment includes the
weather they had their and the condition of the soil. They considered the area a vast treeless wasteland
(Settlers). This quote shows that it didn t have many trees which made the weather worse because
there were no trees to stop the blizzards and storms. The book has a great example of this, All day the
storm went on. The snow did not fall this time, it simply spilled out of heaven, like thousands of
featherbeds being emptied. This shows that it doesn t just fall it pours out, almost like a rain storm.
Many saved up their food for the winter, so they didn t have to go outside as much. They still had to
take care of their fields and such, but they mostly stayed inside. In anyone s life their environment is
vital to how they turn out in life and how they act around others. Although it can t decide for he or she,
it can lead to a certain way of living. The environment in the west leads most of the people that live
there to be hard workers and they are also not as affectionate

The Creature From Jekyll Island Essay
The title of this book by G. Edward Griffin may make you think about a frightfulness story along the
lines of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. However terrible it is, The Creature from Jekyll Island is not fiction.
The Creature from Jekyll Island is a second take a gander at the Federal Reserve and how it works
with our legislature, and additionally how it works outside our administration and in co operation with
significant world keeping money associations. Essentially it accounts the development of the Federal
Reserve on Jekyll Island, Georgia in 1910 by individuals from a saving money cartel keeping in mind
the end goal to shield them from rivalry. In spite of the fact that 15 years of age, despite everything it
reverberates today. Establishing individuals were Nelson W. Aldrich, Abraham Piatt Andrew, Frank A.
Vanderlip, and Henry P. Davison, Sr. Charles D. Norton, Benjamin Strong, Paul M. Warburg. At the
time, 1/6th of the aggregate world s richest were spoken to by these members and their associations.
The first draft bill exhibited in 1910 to the Senate to make national bank was introduced by Senator
Aldrich, and got to be regularly known as the Aldrich Bill. The association would have the privilege to
change over government obligation into cash, adapting the obligation, then loan it back to the
administration gathering enthusiasm for the procedure, and be the holder of such supports until

How Languages Are Learnt
Lecture 1
How languages are learned?
1. Popular views about language learning. 2. How children learn their first language: a) the behaviorist
position; b) the annalist position; c) the critical period hypothesis; d) the interactionist position.
Every few years new foreign language teaching methods arrive on the scene. New textbooks appear
far more frequently. New methods and textbooks may reflect current developments in
linguistic/applied linguistic theory or recent pedagogical trends. Sometimes they are said to be based
on recent developments in language learning theory and research. For example, one approach to
teaching may emphasize the value of having students to imitate and practice a set of correct sentences
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to this view, the quality and quantity of the language which the child hears should have an
affect on the child s success in language learning. The behaviorists consider imitation and practice as
primary processes in language development. To clarify what is meant by these two terms, consider the
following determinations and examples. Imitation: Word for word reception of all or part of someone
else s utterance. For example: Mother: Would you like some bread and peanut butter? Child: Some
bread and peanut butter.
Practice: Repetitive manipulation of form. Child: I can handle it, Hannah can handle it, we can handle
it.
Children imitate, but it must be stressed that very few children imitate much, the rate of imitation of
some children may be less than ten per cent. Unlike a parrot that imitates the familiar and continues to
repeat the same things again and again, children s imitation is selective and based on what they are
currently learning. But imitation and practice do not account for how children learn all aspects of their
native language. The behaviourist explanations for language acquisition offer a reasonable way of
understanding how children learn some of the regular and routine aspects of language. However, their
acquisition of the more complex grammatical structures of the language requires a different sort of
explanation and we shall consider some of the

Social Problems Of The Troubles In Ireland
Social Problems of the Troubles in Ireland For about 150 years Ireland and neighboring countries have
struggled with social controversy and segregation that has consumed society and its views, which have
been labeled as the Troubles . Ireland has struggled to become peaceful and accept the ties it has to the
United Kingdom. In every country there is hate, wars, and events that cause the population to raise up
arms and try to get their points across, but in Ireland it has lasted a very long time due to Nationalists
versus the government, Catholics versus Protestants, Loyalists versus Unionists, and many other
radicals that believed in something greater than what Ireland was during certain time periods. Britain

The IRA is the Irish Republican Army made up of Irish volunteers since 1919. Many of the volunteers
have been involved in street riots, hate crimes, and violence. They are known for burning homes and
shooting civilians. (Coogan, 1993, 4) Throughout 1920 s to the 1990 s Ireland had some serious
problems. New groups kept springing up, creating violence, riots, and rebellions. Around 1918 the
War of Independence had begun and lasted until July 1921. (Douglas, 1999, 104) On Sunday,
November 22 the event that is very well known as Bloody Sunday occurred. Assassinations and brutal
killings took place; the IRA killed fourteen British officers in Dublin and killed 12 people during a
football match. (Douglas, 1999, 105) Ireland s militia grew tired of the IRA unlawful acts. In the early
1930 s the economic war began due to land payments owed to Britain. (Douglas, 1999, 118) During
this time riots broke out killing 12 people, injuring 600, and driving 2000 people from their homes
because of disputes between the North and the South.(Douglas, 1999, 129) Nationalism has been one
of the leading ideals throughout Ireland s history. In the words of Richard English, It [nationalism] has
caused and fuelled wars; stabilized and destabilized states; defined political and cultural life across the
globe . (2006, 3) Irish nationalism was based upon ancient and primitive foundations. (2006, 20)

Marketing and Tweeter
Case Analysis Tweeter etc. Company Overview Tweeter etc. was founded in 1972 by Sandy
Bloomberg in Boston to sell high end stereo components. The current portfolio of the company
consists of brand stereos, television, car radios and car phones. Tweeter has recently witnessed a
healthy growth in its financial performance. Sale has almost doubled in the last three years reaching
$82.3 million in FY 1996. Its sales per store has increased by 50% and number of stores increased to
21 from 14 during the same period. The Making and Current Scenario During its formative years,
Tweeter gained the reputation of being the retailer of high quality, high end audio components and
video equipment. They had a knowledge able sales force providing ... Show more content on

The starting price for its products as communicated to the consumers by ads was well above the other
retailers. Thus, consumers being price sensitive thought of Tweeter as the store selling high priced
goods. Even though the middle and high end stuff are sold at around the same prices as in all stores.
The lack of awareness along with the price advertising has made the Tweeter appear more costly and
specialized for high end customers and thus driving consumers away. As can be justified Tweeter s
70% sales was due to Quality/Service customers which look for high levels of product quality and
customer service due to its image. As can be seen from the survey, the awareness level of people about
APP was very low. Only 32% of the respondents could define it. Only 22.1% of the respondents knew
that Tweeter offered the APP service. Concern 4: Is Tweeter targeting the right customer sector and
should it continue with APP? The price bitter and the quality/service customers together account for
90% of Tweeter customers. It lacks behind in Entry level and convenience customers. This can be
attributed to the various misconceptions about the store in the market such as Tweeter stocks high end
goods only. This has led to Tweeter running in losses during early 1990 s. Though, it has shown some
improvement after that due to the inclusion of APP. Concern 5: Is Tweeter actually price competitive

Montessori Education Essay
Research paper on Montessori Education
{Kierre Davis}
(American Public Universty}
Abstract
This research paper intends to explain and describe factors and features of Montessori education and
Montessori school. It illustrates the practical implementation of Montessori education. It is an old
method of education operating since 100 years. It started from the indigent nursery school in Rome
and afterwards, it continued to expand at a larger scale. Approximations specify that over 5000
schools in the U.S.; 300 communal schools and few high schools apply the Montessori curriculum.
Montessori program is featured by multi age classrooms, and a special curriculum of instruments
(Lillard Else Quest, 2006). One of the famous works known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rather than simply watching and listening, as the majority of traditional students do, Montessori
students are encouraged to participate in hands on activities that foster learning through doing. This
may involve field trips, group work, or individualized activities that allow the students to work
independently on their own research. As the students progress through the Montessori system, they are
likely granted an even greater amount of classroom freedom. Traditional schooling, often dominated
by textbooks, lectures and continuous classroom discipline, differs from Montessori education in those
very areas (Martin, 2009). In contemporary age of education, with the initiation of the No Child Left
Behind act and its significance on educational values, financial support for gifted children frequently
scampers parched. Thus it is significant for parents to search different educational alternatives for
talented children, who have a tendency to be independent and incredible learners, who frequently do
effort in classrooms where recurrence and orthodoxy are strained and individual expression is ignored.
Montessori schools were established on the cause that children have the instinctive ability to learn
themselves, and the schools must facilitate children to lead their individual education. Because of
these causes, Montessori schools might be the best choice for talented children (Martin, 2009).
Generally speaking, Montessori students do not

In the Devil s Snare Book Report
Elliot, J.H., Imperial Spain: 1469 1716. London: Penguin Books, 1963. 423pgs. In Imperial Spain,
J.H. Elliot examines the history of early modern Spain from the reign of the Catholic Monarchs,
Isabella and Ferdinand, to the reformation of the Spanish government by the first member of the
Bourbon dynasty. According to the author, at the start of the 15th century, Spain was internally weak,
hopelessly divided and isolated from the continent by the Pyrenees. Yet, by 1492, Spanish society
experienced a tremendous transformation which allowed Isabella and Ferdinand to unify the country,
secure the largest transoceanic empire the world has ever known, and for a ... Show more content on

Aragon, the author states, was mostly left out of the affairs of empire and it turned its attention to its
Mediterranean possessions.
While it is true that Ferdinand interfered little with Isabella s handling of Castilian affairs, Elliot
asserts in Chapter Four ( The Imperial Destiny ) that certain key issues were handled jointly by the
monarchs. This was evident in the concessions that they were able to extract from the Vatican.
Patronato Real, or the right of presentation to all ecclesiastical benefices in the Kingdom of Granada
was granted to the sovereigns of Spain by Pope Innocent VIII while the Reconquista was still ongoing.
Eventually, the author goes on to say, this right would be extended to all Spanish domains. This gave
the rulers of Spain almost complete control of the Catholic Church in their territories and in time, the
clergy would become the most efficient of bureaucrats and administrators of the Spanish empire.
Chapter Five is entitled The Government and the Economy of the Reign of Charles V and in it Elliot
argues that after Ferdinand s death in 1516, his successor Charles I of Spain, V of the Holy Roman
Empire, inherited a thriving, pacified, quasi united kingdom that had access to the incredible wealth of
the Americas. The problem, the author suggests, was that Charles and his successors did not fully
understand the complexity of the Spanish system they inherited.

Sports Controversy
I think participating in sports deffently has a positive effect on children and teens. One of the very
many reasons, is that kids will learn a lot from being on a competitive team. They will learn about
rules, sportsmenship, obidence, and teamwork. Most kids love sports, and when they are younger they
will do anything to join with there friends. They get to seek out what sport they love most, and
participate in it until there senior year in high school or college. Seeing the downside to sports I guess
you can say is easy. Like not having enough time for homework, school, friends and family. Parents
can argue on that fact for hours, but I guess it all really depends on the child. If a kids friends are

work of a church school which: provide a safe and secure environment in which all pupils feel they
are valued for the unique contribution each one of them can make; encourage and promote
participation in the life of the school in ways that contribute to the well being of everyone; ensure that
pupils can express their beliefs, experiences, insights and feelings without a fear of ridicule, knowing

The focus should be to advertize BAM as a Product that fits small firm needs instead of marketing it
just as a low cost solution . This strategy would reflect better on the Loctite brand and would not
jeopardize existing equipment (sold to large firms) sales. 2) Combine BAM advertisements with the
Super Bonder adhesive advertisement. This would help to promote joint sales as well as help reduce
advertisement costs. The selling point for small firms is low cost equipment that optimizes use of high
quality adhesive and reduces total cost. By eliminating clogging, providing faster application and
reducing assembly errors (Exhibit 8), BAM will be positioned as the product that reduces mess and
helps small firms save on labor and adhesive costs (more under pricing strategy). 3) Include brochures
on Bond A Matic with 1 lb packages of Super Bonder adhesives with 10 packs of 1 oz Super Bonder
bottles. Include product information highlighting benefits such as anti clogging, no mess/waste (and
others in Exhibit 8), a response/ordering card with discount coupons. Sales personnel could follow up
any leads that come from brochure response. 4) Include one year limited warranty (include warranty
registration card) instead of 30 day free trial to reduce return expected costs. This plan would also go
well with the Loctite brand image. 5) Offer bulk purchase discounts and build proper incentives to

Reasons Of King Henry V Of France
In William Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V of England sets out to retake his rightful position of
king of France. Everyone agrees that Henry has a claim to the French throne, some say he should have
invaded France and others say he should not. Henry should not have invaded France for three reasons:
He does not have a legitimate claim, it could endanger Britain, and its selfish. Firstly, Henry should
not have invaded France is that he does not have a legitimate claim to the throne. Henry claims that he
is the rightful king of France because of a complicated family tree. He claims that because his great
grandfather, Edward III s, mother was Isabella the daughter of French king Philip IV, that he is the

Henry s invasion carries one major risk, limited men. He only has so many men he can use for his
army. By using a large force he may not be able to defend his gains or even England itself, should
France launch a counter attack campaign. This risk would mean that not only would he lose all his
gains but he would lose his entire kingdom! This is not worth the huge risk to attack France. In Act 1
Sc. 2 lines 142 145, Henry worries about another threat to England during the invasion, the Scotts, We
must not only arm t invade the French, But lay down our proportions to defend Against the Scot, who
will make road upon us With all advantages Henry has a legitimate fear that the rebellious Scots will
take advantage of him and his army s absence to make themselves independent, and taking the
northern half of Britain with them. This fear is genuine but is put to rest again by the Archbishop of
Canterbury, who assures Henry that the Scots will have neither the will nor the manpower to mount a
serious revolt. Henry also is concerned that if he loses a fight with France over something he
seemingly has the right to, the British people might lose faith in him and begin looking to another
leader. This concern is grounded in Henry s fear of losing and that if he does his position as King will

July Crisis Dbq
The First World War began in Europe, but by the end of it, the United States had joined. Once
involved, President Woodrow Wilson had a huge effect on drawing new country lines. His decision
was influenced by how the war began, as a cry to have states independent from an empire, based on
ethnicities to avoid alliances similar to what started this war. This global and total war was the first of
its kind, which began in Europe from the assassination of Austria Hungary s heir to the throne,
Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by Gavrillo Princip in Sarajevo. This local conflict quickly
grew out of control due to alliances across European countries and aggressive rulers and developed
into what is now known as the July Crisis . In the four years that this war was ongoing, the United
States only participated in the last two and made a major and lasting impact on Europe. The United

Analysis Of The Novel A Short Story
Short stories often present the single experience of a character or set of characters where its climax is
marked by a moment of crisis, either in a literal or more emotional and spiritual sense. Unlike the
novel, a short story does not provide the full details of the circumstances or backstory of the situation
at hand, nor does it allow the reader to develop an in depth relationship with these characters. Despite
its condensed form, the short story can possess layers of subtexts and a sort of narrative ambiguity
where pressure is placed on the reader to make something of these literary texts. To make sense of
these subtexts, the reader should pay particular attention to the narrative voice being utilized because
the narrator has the ability to influence how a reader may respond to a literary text by setting up a
perspective from which the reader sees it. To get a thorough analysis of a short story, the reader must
analyze its narrator because the text s character is developed from the degree to which and the manner
in which that identity is indicated in the text, and the choices that are implied (Bal 19). Evidence
suggests that the experience a reader may get from a short story is mostly dependent upon how that
story is presented. Mieke Bal refers to this as focalization, where the relation between who perceives
and what is perceived colors the story with subjectivity (8). For instance, the psychology behind the
supposed lovers behavior in D.H. Lawrence s

Design A Task For A Grade Classroom
For our GeoGebra lesson, Ashley and I decided to design a task for a 1st grade classroom. This 1st
grade lesson required students to partition circles, and possibly rectangles, into halves and fourths
using the idea of fair sharing with the tools provided by GeoGebra. We went with this idea assuming
that students have had previous experiences with GeoGebra and with fair sharing, perhaps with friends
or siblings for example. We divided up the work evenly and worked on our sections on our own,
asking for help if needed. This assignment provided me the opportunities to practice implementing the
mathematical teaching methods I have been learning about in my classes, work with a fellow
classmate that has had more experience in the classroom, and work on what it may look like to
develop a mathematical task that is centered on a piece of technology like GeoGebra. A practice all
teachers should rehearse, prepare for, and become masters at is quality questioning. When writing our
lesson plan, we were prompted to think of questions that would allow for extension, check for
understanding, provide differentiation, lead students in developing an understanding of the key ideas
included in the lesson, guide students through the lesson by scaffolding their learning, and help to
clear up misconceptions that existed. As one can see, planning for the types of questions to ask and
anticipating the types of responses that would come in turn, encompassed a large portion of our

Pygmalion Essay
The distinctive voices, characteristic in any text/s, can be deconstructed to develop an understanding
which may validate, challenge or disprove society s values and/or beliefs within a given context.
Language, in all its forms, is a human thing, and allows the traces or imprints of human use, not
inherently but in its use. A text may promote obvious distinction between the authorial voice and
character s viewpoint. This can be seen in the play of Pygmalion in by George Bernard shaw and the
film Pleasantville directed by Gary Ross. Both of these texts show distinctive voices through dialogue

Another distinctive voice in Pymalion is that Henry Higgins . is an important character in the play as
he is Eliza s tutor. He Is an expert in phonetics and is very proud of his skill and his ability to
transform Eliza into a lady. However he fails to follow the rules of social conduct when they are out in
public. This is evident in Act III when he was rude to the hostess saying: fearful bore for you this sort
of thing. Forgive my part in it . However he is most rough with Eliza. His voice is characterised by the
severe tone, high volume and use of profanity or insults. He also uses a harsh tone, particularly when
talking to Eliza e.g You won my bet! You! Presumptuous insect!/ I won it. In this quote he uses
exclamations, repetition and italics to show his emotion. This quote uses exclamations and repetition of
you to emphasise his emotion. He also uses the metaphor of Eliza as an insect to communicate his
anger but also create the sense that she is small and meaningless. This quote shows his inability to
acknowledge that eliza worked hard for the bet. Damn Mrs.pearce ; and damn the coffee; and damn
you: and wildly damn my own folly in having lavished my hard earned knowledge and the treasure of
my regard and intimacy on a heartless guttersnipe . At this point Mr.Higgins has truly lost his temper.
This is shown in the repetition of the curse damn . He has been hurt by what Eliza has said because he
believes that she is ungrateful. Eliza has won

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to measure the effect one minute of physical activity would have
on a subject s blood pressure. In this experiment, physical activity is defined as stair climbing at a
moderate pace. For comparison purposes, standing blood pressure was measured before and after
physical activity. One subject was used and three trials were completed and the initial blood pressures
were as followed; 94/62 mmHg, 106/74 mmHg, and 102/66 mmHg. Blood pressures after physical
activity were 110/68, 112/76, and 106/70 mmHg. Blood pressure increased after physical activity.

Next the subject was informed to sit for five minutes to allow his body to come to a resting point. The
subject was sitting upright with their upper arm positioned so it was level with their heart and feet flat
on the floor. Using two fingers the subjects brachial artery was located and the sphygmomanometer
was positioned so the cuffs artery marker pointed to the brachial artery. Next the sphygmomanometer
was wrapped tightly around the arm. On the same arm that the sphygmomanometer placed, the arm
was palpated at the crease of the arm to locate the strongest pulse and the bell of the stethoscope was
placed over the brachial artery at this location. Using the cuff bulb, the cuff was inflated until no
sounds were heard through the stethoscope. Once this point was reached the cuff was slowly deflated
and listening for the systolic and diastolic readings began. The systolic reading is the first rhythmic
sound heard and the diastolic is the last rhythmic sound heard. The blood pressure reading was
recorded on paper. The subject was then instructed to climb the stairs at a constant rate. The subject
was timed for one minute. Next, the subject s blood pressure was taken again and recorded. This was
repeated two additional times with an hour in between trials to allow for

The Transcontinental Railroad And The Gilded Age
By the middle of the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution was changing the face and culture of the
United States. Demand for raw materials and new inventions was increasing. From 1800 1850,
territories claimed by the United States had grown to stretch from the East Coast to the West Coast.
The spirit of Manifest Destiny , the California Gold Rush, and the promise of rich new land, ripe with
raw materials and opportunity drew settlers ever westward. Following the invention of the steam
engine, trains were becoming very important to the expansion of civilization and its infrastructure.
Trains and the railroads they ran on soon became the lifeblood of industrialized economic
development across the country. Public and private partnerships were formed with railroad companies
to provide them with vast amounts of investment funding. Within a few decades, the railroad
companies and their transcontinental railroads ushered in the Gilded Age and changed American
society forever. The significance of the transcontinental railroads and the impact they made is quite
profound. The first transcontinental line s construction was chartered by the government in the Pacific
Railroad Act. Construction of the line, which ran between Omaha Nebraska to Sacramento California,
began in 1863 and it was completed in 1869. By 1900, other transcontinental lines, like the Southern
Pacific Railroad and the Great Northern Railway, were in place and connected by numerous feeder
lines, junctions, and

What is the relationship between belief, knowledge, mythology, and religion? Where do mythology
and religion intersect? Where do they diverge? Think about the function of myth and religion in
helping human beings cope with change, suffering, loss, and death.
The relationship between belief, knowledge, mythology, and religion is one that interweaved, where
religion, mythology and belief share the most in common, knowledge is just as important. Mythology
and religion intersect in their origins; because of the belief in mythology religion grew. I don t believe
you can really have one without the other. Most religions today at least the big 3 rely on a foundation
or a belief in a Supreme Being or deity that takes on mythical status and is the bias of those religions.
Without the belief in the myth the religions would fall apart. And that leads us to the where they
diverge, in to today society more and more people have begun to question religion atheism is one of
the fast growing problem facing modern day religions. Where religion once relied and mythology for
its origins in today day and age religion itself is being categorized as mythology itself

Evaluating Pricing And Ensure Adherence Of A Company
As defined by Investopedia, LLC (2016) an initial public offering is the first sale of stock of a
company to the public. When a company makes the decision to move forward with an initial public
offering there are many roles that are involved and rules and regulations that must be reviewed to
ensure risks are evaluated and limited. A decision to go public can have immense benefits in raising
cash and providing liquidity. Having the proper roles evaluate pricing and ensure adherence to rules

The Investment Banker is a critical role in the Initial Public Offering as they manage the process
therefore choosing the Investment Banker can be the determination of performance levels.
The Role of an Originating House and a Syndicate An initial public offering of stock is an expensive
and complicated procedure. Firms considering this option turn to syndicates of investment bankers to
handle the initial sale of the firm s stock. In the case of a large initial public offering, an originating
investment house may decide to form a syndicate of investors to lessen the financial risk to
themselves. This syndicate, or group, of investors will share the reward and risks of the sale of stock
from the issuing firm. The originating house selects other investing banks or individual investors to
make up the syndicate. This syndicate will underwrite the sale of the stocks, guaranteeing the issuing
firm the sale of a mutually agreed upon number of stocks at an agreed upon price per share. The
syndicate now assumes the financial risk of selling the stocks to the public. The issuing firm has a
guarantee of raising the funds they need. The syndicate also assumes the responsibility for completing
and filing all necessary documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission as well as providing
any information required by an individual state or international governmental agency.

Last Man Standing Norman Collins
Who Norman Collins He was a soldier from Great Britain in World War I. He was born in a small
place called Hartlepool on the west coast of England. He was only eighteen years old when he
willingly left home to join the Battalion Seaforth Highlanders. At the age of nineteen on 18th October
1916 he left to France to go in to the battle. He had different jobs there, from the one that he was
supposed to get to the opponents trenches and drop and throw mill bombs, to the leader of a group of
people that buried dead bodies and sent letters to inform their families about their loss.
What The goal of this book is to present what the soldiers which survived went through in World War
I and make us understand and feel how they felt. This book has nine different chapters. The
composition of this book has three resources. One are the letters that Norman Collins sent to his
family, the second is him after so many years describing the parts he remembers and the third one are
the Editors notes which help us keep up with all the events that were happening and easier connect the
letters.
When World War I. The books starts by describing an attack that happened in Norman Collins

During Moore s adventure, the United Dawli 10 States Coast Guard stops and questions Moore and
his crewmembers about their destination. Moore cleverly answers, We re not going to Cuba! We re
going to America! It s American soil (SiCKo). This voyage is humorous because Moore plays upon
the irony that in order for American citizens to receive free quality health care, they must be taken the
prison, which houses some of America s most dangerous criminals. Another example in the film is
when Moore discovers in a British hospital corridor a CASHIER window, which he pretends to
suppose is the hidden flaw in British free health services (Callenbach 18). However, he soon learns
that the Cashier is actually a place where the hospital pays its patients for any costs they may have
incurred throughout their stay, such as transportation costs to and from the hospital. Moore compares
the fact that people can actually get paid to go to the hospital in England, to America where patients
need to pay for their health care, and illustrates this point using humor and sarcasm. As Chapman
illustrates, Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort of cinema, which means that
there are inevitably pressures and sometimes conflicting claims (Chapman 8). In other words,

Secondary And Tertiary Levels Of Care
Secondary and tertiary levels of care both provide more specialised, regionalised care for patients in
the health system, the lines between which are often blurred, but still present key distinctions.
Secondary care is specialised clinical care for problems more complex than those requiring primary
care. Secondary care has a finer scope of specialisation than primary care, with this narrowing of
specialisation continuing up the health care levels (Health Evidence Network, 2004). Secondary care
therefore includes physicians who operate in the scope of a specialty, such as general surgeons,
internists and neurologists (Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2009). Secondary care is most commonly
provided in the context of a hospital setting, or a community office of the specialist. Whilst tertiary
care provides care for more complex illnesses as well, it instead focuses on subspecialties. Tertiary
care providers work at the apex of their specialties, servicing a far greater proportion of the population
compared to the other health care levels, as their services are so highly focused (Bodenheimer
Grumbach, 2009). As tertiary care is the uppermost level of care in a typical system, it is generally
provided at a select number of hospitals or specialist tertiary centers. Examples of tertiary care
providers include cardiac surgeons; specialist burns units, and immunologists, who may concentrate
on rare illnesses (Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2009). Questions three and four: Describe how patients

Rural, Northern and Remote social work
Glen Schmidt (2000) demonstrated characteristics of Northern social work (p.4). Schmidt (2000)
distinguished the Indigenous definition of the north as home, a welcoming place to live. In contrast to
the western perspective, which is based on European settlement and includes the north being a, harsh
wild that can be used for a resource based economy (p.4). I believe that defining northern is dependent
on who is defining it. I believe that defining north is relative. Considering that I live in Edmonton,
people who living in southern Alberta consider Edmonton north. Also there are people who live very
north such as the hamlet of Grise Fiord. Should Grise Fiord be considered north? I reiterate that I
believe is it dependent upon personal opinion and lived experience. The influence of resource base
economy is significant because it determines, many peoples source of income as well the community s
development. Schmidt mentioned the relationship of hinterland metropolis as company from urban
centres benefitting from the profit of the resources and not the communities (p.5). Schmidt (2000) also
highlighted that the North has been defined as marginalized part of Canada as the majority of Canada
s population is 200km or less from the U.S border (p.3).
Another characteristic that defines northern social work is the scarcity of service provisions including,
social services, food services, transportation, health services and other basic needs services. Schmidt

The Physics of Running
Running uses many different laws of physics. Some specific laws or principles are Law of Pendulum;
Newton s First, Second, and Third Laws; velocity; acceleration; and friction. In our project, we will
focus specifically on Newton s three laws, the Law of Pendulum, and velocity. Running is defined by
the Merriam Webster Dictionary as to go faster than a walk; specifically : to go steadily by springing
steps so that both feet leave the ground for an instant in each step. This project will explain how the
aforementioned laws pertain to the physics of running. Those involved in running sports, for example

Velocity is the rate of change of an object s position and is a function of time. You can find the speed
that someone goes by knowing how far they went and how long it took them to get there. The
equation used to find velocity is v=d/t; v is velocity, d is distance traveled, and t is time. Someone who
runs the 3200m in 12 minutes runs at an average speed of 266.67 m/min. For a runner who wants to
improve their time in a race, they need to cover more distance per minute. To achieve running an 11
minute 30 second 3200m a person would run at an average pace of 278.26m/min. This is found by
using the same equation v=d/t. This is used to find average velocity for the race. Many runners do not
keep the same speed in a race, especially in a 3200m race. At the end of a race a runner will speed up

New Believer Research Paper
In today s society, there is an impending question amongst many Christians. Should Christians read
the bible every day? I believe it is necessary to read the bible most of the time. Although, when it
comes down to the how often you read, this is based on a person s overall walk with God. Whether the
person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bible is based
upon this.
As a new believer, I believe it is a must that a person reads the bible as close to every day as possible.
I remember when my parents first came to Christ, they would read the bible. Not just because they
wanted to, but they were hungry for the word and wanted to dive head first into it. This is not bad at
all don t get me wrong. With them being new believers, they are going to try to soak up the Word like
someone sipping out of a straw. They want to read this life changing book that Christians talk about so
much. Compare it to this, a little boy walks into a candy store and buys some candy. The Mom says
that he can eat it right away, so the kid rips the wrapper off as quickly as he can and shoves the candy
in his mouth. That is kind of how a new believer is with the bible. They shove their whole face into
the bible to taste its sweet joy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person is truly strong in christ then they could get by with reading the Bible two or three times a
week. So what is a strong believer? To me, a strong believer is someone who has the Word in their life
and uses the Word to help with everyday things. The Word of God is so strong in them that they can
quote whatever scripture they need to help them or help others in a time of need. These people would
be like the candy store worker. Their job in the store is to help that kid that is super shy or to help the
eager kid. Those strong believers won t only be helping more people achieve a better life with Christ
but always practicing what the Word

devastated from the destruction. Tropical Cyclones are storms that spin in a clockwise direction and
have low pressure midpoints. In order for a Tropical Cyclone to form there are two main variables, the
earth s revolution and heat. As the ocean reaches at least 27°C, the water then begins to evaporate
creating a storm cloud. The greatest factor being the rotation of the earth, forces the storm to begin
spinning and to move in a forward direction. The centre of the storm is called The Eye ; this is where
it is completely still. There is system in place to categorized using the Australian tropical cyclone
intensity scale.

Tropical Cyclones have many secondary effects other than just winds. A major secondary effect that
impacts towns and cities is Storm Surge. A Storm Surge is defined as a rising of the sea, which is a
result of wind and atmospheric pressure changes associated with a storm . This becomes dangerous
when certain factors come into play, such as; king tides and when such events approach coastal and
unprotected areas. http://www.google.com.au/?gfe_rd=ctrl ei=fJQlU8vqFsqN8QfrqIHACQ

Where Are You Going Out Of The House And Live Like Adults,...
Teenagers want to get out of the house and live like adults, but without the responsibility. Where are
you going. Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a fifteen
year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home and another
out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to her. She ends up
meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going to turn out so well.
Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to get attention. Things in
Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not care about anything. One of the
reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family. She is an outcast of the family, her
mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her father works all the time so he does not
matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get along is because the mother loves the sister June
more. June is more of the innocent child where she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as
Connie, so she has no other choice then to do whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the
pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the
promiscuous type that hangs out with the bad crowd and is always into trouble. An example from the
text to show how Connie and her mother interact is Why don t you keep your room

The Church Of San Vitale
The Church of San Vitale Shows Justinian and his attendants. . The Art Work is a part of collection
work which is called Justinian Mosaic and it begun by bishop Ecclesius in affiliation with the Roman
Catholic. Its size is really difficult for us to tell because it shows the dome shape design from inside
the church... Basilica of San Vitale is the main location in this art work. The artwork done on the walls
is permanent. It Tells the Story of Ancient Rome and also tells the Aesthetic values of the Church.
The artist of the material was Ecclesius in conjunction with the aid of the Roman Catholic patrons.
The coordination of the work involved many participants under the leadership of Ecclesius. Proposals

Other members of the Clergy flank the Emperor from either side and prominent personalities such as
the Bishop Maximianus of Ravenna are also in the portrait. Critical examination of the Justinian and
his attendants Mosaic shows that the Emperor is in a central position and the power of the church
surrounds his throne to indicate the way his activities are guided by the power of the church.
Additionally, Angelic surrounding shows the military administration. In other words, the portrait
showed that just like other Emperors of Rome, Justinian had the three forces of religious, military, and
administration around him (Mango 13).
The clergy in the portrait carry a gospel book, from which the Christians of the church obtain their
teachings. The Emperor carries the bowl that is essential in passing the Eucharist to the worshipers
and helps one to understand the important role that the emperor played. The bowl is symbolic in
nature because it identifies the emperor to be doing the act of homage of a true leader. The symbolism
of Christ in the purple orb shows that there is a universal dominion of the power of Christ to the
kingdom. St. Vitale gestures a clear mind of the rule of the emperor as a representative of God s will
on earth. The Emperor s army of Christ is shown in the form of Chi Rho that is present on the shied
the military men are holding (Mango 15).
Another aspect that emerges from the artwork is the

Informative Essay On Epilepsys
Epilepsy is characterized as a brain disorder in which you have a tendency to trigger seizures. It
occurs when there is a abnormal or excessive amount of electrical activity in the brain, and is usually
diagnosed after a person has two or more seizures that are not caused by medical conditions. Epilepsy
is very common in society today. 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime and 65 million
people already have epilepsy worldwide. After any type of epileptic seizure episodes of sensory
disturbances, loss of consciousness, convulsions, and many other symptoms can spark.
Epilepsy s first occurrence is in the earliest writings of ancient civilisations and cultures. According to
Adrian Tureniec, The oldest known document on epilepsy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is very common in the United States affecting around 150,000 people per year. People who suffer
from Epilepsy can still live a normal, successful life. In most cases Epilepsy/seizures can be controlled
by medication with slim to no side effects by eating healthy, and taking good care of yourself. In order
to get the best treatment and diagnosis seek help from a local doctor, because Epilepsy is more than
just seizures. Having Epilepsy and not treating it properly can be more harmful than the disorder itself.
If you have Epilepsy you should talk to your friends and family members.Epilepsy can only be treated
if there is a team effort and a person is ready to accept the fact that they have it.

Potential Spatial Structures Of Peregrine Falcon Populations
In addition to the conservation benefits of recognizing that metapopulations have spatial structure, a
number of important conservation risks arise when conservationists do not account for the various
potential spatial structures of metapopulations. One of the risks of assuming homogenous spatial
structure is that the models will produce falsely high numbers, as the actual population violates the
assumptions of the model. Wootton and Bell (1992) highlight the importance of addressing spatial
structures in their model of Peregrine Falcon populations, as the census data alone would predict a
falsely healthy population. Additionally, management plans in populations might be terminated
prematurely if conservationists do not understand and account for the dynamics of source and sink
metapopulations, which may have fluctuating levels of colonization and extinction rates that are
normal for the dynamics of the population (Wootton and Bell 1992). Kauffman et al. (2004) echo this
finding, as they emphasize the importance of understanding habitat specific demographic data instead
of an overall population count alone, which might carry the assumption of homogenous spatial
structure and lead to a misdiagnosis of a population. Another conservation risk of not accounting for
spatial structure is that conservationists are likely to miss the connections between spatial structure
and genetic structure, both of which play a major role in conservation. Fronhofer et al. (2012) ran

  • 4. Street Corner Society Synopsis Essay 1. I would say that the characterization of lower class neighborhoods as being disorganized is false. While from an outsider s view, things may appear hectic and chaotic, there is a finely designed structure among the groups involved in the areas. Individuals find themselves grouping together with others who have similar aspirations and desires; in Street Corner Society, this is seen as the ‘corner boys and ‘college boys . Corner boys grew up, not in schools, but with each other on the area street corners. Doc was the general leader of the corner boys. College boys grew up and moved on into the college life. His social status effected his scores so much so that when his friendship with Doc wasn t as strong, Long John s scores fell drastically. The followers weren t able to win because they wouldn t let one of their own excel. The exception to this might have come when Whyte himself won once. This was explained, some what, because he had a close relationship with Doc and he was allowed to win. 3. The differences between the corner boys and college boys is best seen in the life of their respective leaders. The former had a boy named Doc; a kid who grew up on Norton Street who had a shriveled arm, but didn t let himself or anyone else use it as an excuse. His rise to power was by the way of the fist. After an unwanted fight, he began to just beat up almost anyone who disrespected him, or at least, didn t do as he wished. He eventually grew a group of friends/members that came to be known as the Nortons. This group generally took labor jobs and didn t have much of a secondary education. The college boys had Chick. Chick was eight when he moved from Italy to Cornerville. He grew up struggling in the United States because of his speech and because of his minority status as an Italian in school and at college. Nebraska is the state My Antonia is set in, but most of the novel goes for a lot of the states in the west. According to Kathleen Norris, Cather had the great good fortune to have lived among the first generation of white settlers in 1880s Nebraska, and she gives witness to their time and place in such a way that American literature will never forget them (Norris). The environment includes the weather they had their and the condition of the soil. They considered the area a vast treeless wasteland (Settlers). The book has a great example of this, All day the storm went on. The snow did not fall this time, it simply spilled out of heaven, like thousands of featherbeds being emptied. This shows that it doesn t just fall it pours out, almost like a rain storm. Many saved up their food for the winter, so they didn t have to go outside as much. They still had to take care of their fields and such, but they mostly stayed inside. In anyone s life their environment is vital to how they turn out in life and how they act around others. How children learn their first language: a) the behaviorist position; b) the annalist position; c) the critical period hypothesis; d) the interactionist position. Every few years new foreign language teaching methods arrive on the scene. New textbooks appear far more frequently. New methods and textbooks may reflect current developments in linguistic/applied linguistic theory or recent pedagogical trends. Sometimes they are said to be based on recent developments in language learning theory and research. For example, one approach to teaching may emphasize the value of having students to imitate and practice a set of correct sentences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to this view, the quality and quantity of the language which the child hears should have an affect on the child s success in language learning. The behaviorists consider imitation and practice as primary processes in language development. To clarify what is meant by these two terms, consider the following determinations and examples. Imitation: Word for word reception of all or part of someone else s utterance. For example: Mother: Would you like some bread and peanut butter? Child: Some bread and peanut butter. Practice: Repetitive manipulation of form. Child: I can handle it, Hannah can handle it, we can handle it. Children imitate, but it must be stressed that very few children imitate much, the rate of imitation of some children may be less than ten per cent. Unlike a parrot that imitates the familiar and continues to repeat the same things again and again, children s imitation is selective and based on what they are currently learning. But imitation and practice do not account for how children learn all aspects of their native language. The behaviourist explanations for language acquisition offer a reasonable way of understanding how children learn some of the regular and routine aspects of language. However, their acquisition of the more complex grammatical structures of the language requires a different sort of explanation and we shall consider some of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Problems Of The Troubles In Ireland Social Problems of the Troubles in Ireland For about 150 years Ireland and neighboring countries have struggled with social controversy and segregation that has consumed society and its views, which have been labeled as the Troubles . Ireland has struggled to become peaceful and accept the ties it has to the United Kingdom. In every country there is hate, wars, and events that cause the population to raise up arms and try to get their points across, but in Ireland it has lasted a very long time due to Nationalists versus the government, Catholics versus Protestants, Loyalists versus Unionists, and many other radicals that believed in something greater than what Ireland was during certain time periods. The price bitter and the quality/service customers together account for 90% of Tweeter customers. It lacks behind in Entry level and convenience customers. This can be attributed to the various misconceptions about the store in the market such as Tweeter stocks high end goods only. This has led to Tweeter running in losses during early 1990 s. It illustrates the practical implementation of Montessori education. It is an old method of education operating since 100 years. It started from the indigent nursery school in Rome and afterwards, it continued to expand at a larger scale. Approximations specify that over 5000 schools in the U.S.; 300 communal schools and few high schools apply the Montessori curriculum. This may involve field trips, group work, or individualized activities that allow the students to work independently on their own research. As the students progress through the Montessori system, they are likely granted an even greater amount of classroom freedom. Traditional schooling, often dominated by textbooks, lectures and continuous classroom discipline, differs from Montessori education in those very areas (Martin, 2009). In contemporary age of education, with the initiation of the No Child Left Behind act and its significance on educational values, financial support for gifted children frequently scampers parched. Thus it is significant for parents to search different educational alternatives for talented children, who have a tendency to be independent and incredible learners, who frequently do effort in classrooms where recurrence and orthodoxy are strained and individual expression is ignored. Montessori schools were established on the cause that children have the instinctive ability to learn themselves, and the schools must facilitate children to lead their individual education. Because of these causes, Montessori schools might be the best choice for talented children (Martin, 2009). Generally speaking, Montessori students do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elliot examines the history of early modern Spain from the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella and Ferdinand, to the reformation of the Spanish government by the first member of the Bourbon dynasty. According to the author, at the start of the 15th century, Spain was internally weak, hopelessly divided and isolated from the continent by the Pyrenees. Yet, by 1492, Spanish society experienced a tremendous transformation which allowed Isabella and Ferdinand to unify the country, secure the largest transoceanic empire the world has ever known, and for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aragon, the author states, was mostly left out of the affairs of empire and it turned its attention to its Mediterranean possessions. While it is true that Ferdinand interfered little with Isabella s handling of Castilian affairs, Elliot asserts in Chapter Four ( The Imperial Destiny ) that certain key issues were handled jointly by the monarchs. This was evident in the concessions that they were able to extract from the Vatican. Patronato Real, or the right of presentation to all ecclesiastical benefices in the Kingdom of Granada was granted to the sovereigns of Spain by Pope Innocent VIII while the Reconquista was still ongoing. Eventually, the author goes on to say, this right would be extended to all Spanish domains. This gave the rulers of Spain almost complete control of the Catholic Church in their territories and in time, the clergy would become the most efficient of bureaucrats and administrators of the Spanish empire. Chapter Five is entitled The Government and the Economy of the Reign of Charles V and in it Elliot argues that after Ferdinand s death in 1516, his successor Charles I of Spain, V of the Holy Roman Empire, inherited a thriving, pacified, quasi united kingdom that had access to the incredible wealth of the Americas. The problem, the author suggests, was that Charles and his successors did not fully understand the complexity of the Spanish system they inherited. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would help to promote joint sales as well as help reduce advertisement costs. The selling point for small firms is low cost equipment that optimizes use of high quality adhesive and reduces total cost. This global and total war was the first of its kind, which began in Europe from the assassination of Austria Hungary s heir to the throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by Gavrillo Princip in Sarajevo. • 21. Analysis Of The Novel A Short Story Short stories often present the single experience of a character or set of characters where its climax is marked by a moment of crisis, either in a literal or more emotional and spiritual sense. Unlike the novel, a short story does not provide the full details of the circumstances or backstory of the situation at hand, nor does it allow the reader to develop an in depth relationship with these characters. Despite its condensed form, the short story can possess layers of subtexts and a sort of narrative ambiguity where pressure is placed on the reader to make something of these literary texts. To make sense of these subtexts, the reader should pay particular attention to the narrative voice being utilized because the narrator has the ability to influence how a reader may respond to a literary text by setting up a perspective from which the reader sees it. To get a thorough analysis of a short story, the reader must analyze its narrator because the text s character is developed from the degree to which and the manner in which that identity is indicated in the text, and the choices that are implied (Bal 19). Evidence suggests that the experience a reader may get from a short story is mostly dependent upon how that story is presented. Mieke Bal refers to this as focalization, where the relation between who perceives and what is perceived colors the story with subjectivity (8). For instance, the psychology behind the supposed lovers behavior in D.H. Lawrence s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Design A Task For A Grade Classroom For our GeoGebra lesson, Ashley and I decided to design a task for a 1st grade classroom. This 1st grade lesson required students to partition circles, and possibly rectangles, into halves and fourths using the idea of fair sharing with the tools provided by GeoGebra. We went with this idea assuming that students have had previous experiences with GeoGebra and with fair sharing, perhaps with friends or siblings for example. We divided up the work evenly and worked on our sections on our own, asking for help if needed. This assignment provided me the opportunities to practice implementing the mathematical teaching methods I have been learning about in my classes, work with a fellow classmate that has had more experience in the classroom, and work on what it may look like to develop a mathematical task that is centered on a piece of technology like GeoGebra. A practice all teachers should rehearse, prepare for, and become masters at is quality questioning. When writing our lesson plan, we were prompted to think of questions that would allow for extension, check for understanding, provide differentiation, lead students in developing an understanding of the key ideas included in the lesson, guide students through the lesson by scaffolding their learning, and help to clear up misconceptions that existed. As one can see, planning for the types of questions to ask and anticipating the types of responses that would come in turn, encompassed a large portion of our prepping our ... Pygmalion Essay The distinctive voices, characteristic in any text/s, can be deconstructed to develop an understanding which may validate, challenge or disprove society s values and/or beliefs within a given context. Language, in all its forms, is a human thing, and allows the traces or imprints of human use, not inherently but in its use. A text may promote obvious distinction between the authorial voice and character s viewpoint. This can be seen in the play of Pygmalion in by George Bernard shaw and the film Pleasantville directed by Gary Ross. Demand for raw materials and new inventions was increasing. From 1800 1850, territories claimed by the United States had grown to stretch from the East Coast to the West Coast. The spirit of Manifest Destiny , the California Gold Rush, and the promise of rich new land, ripe with raw materials and opportunity drew settlers ever westward. Public and private partnerships were formed with railroad companies to provide them with vast amounts of investment funding. Within a few decades, the railroad companies and their transcontinental railroads ushered in the Gilded Age and changed American society forever. The significance of the transcontinental railroads and the impact they made is quite profound. The first transcontinental line s construction was chartered by the government in the Pacific Railroad Act. Construction of the line, which ran between Omaha Nebraska to Sacramento California, began in 1863 and it was completed in 1869. During Moore s adventure, the United Dawli 10 States Coast Guard stops and questions Moore and his crewmembers about their destination. Moore cleverly answers, We re not going to Cuba! We re going to America! It s American soil (SiCKo). This voyage is humorous because Moore plays upon the irony that in order for American citizens to receive free quality health care, they must be taken the prison, which houses some of America s most dangerous criminals. Another example in the film is when Moore discovers in a British hospital corridor a CASHIER window, which he pretends to suppose is the hidden flaw in British free health services (Callenbach 18). However, he soon learns that the Cashier is actually a place where the hospital pays its patients for any costs they may have incurred throughout their stay, such as transportation costs to and from the hospital. Moore compares the fact that people can actually get paid to go to the hospital in England, to America where patients need to pay for their health care, and illustrates this point using humor and sarcasm. As Chapman illustrates, Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort of cinema, which means that there are inevitably pressures and sometimes conflicting claims (Chapman 8). • 33. Secondary And Tertiary Levels Of Care Secondary and tertiary levels of care both provide more specialised, regionalised care for patients in the health system, the lines between which are often blurred, but still present key distinctions. Secondary care is specialised clinical care for problems more complex than those requiring primary care. Secondary care has a finer scope of specialisation than primary care, with this narrowing of specialisation continuing up the health care levels (Health Evidence Network, 2004). Secondary care therefore includes physicians who operate in the scope of a specialty, such as general surgeons, internists and neurologists (Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2009). Secondary care is most commonly provided in the context of a hospital setting, or a community office of the specialist. Whilst tertiary care provides care for more complex illnesses as well, it instead focuses on subspecialties. Tertiary care providers work at the apex of their specialties, servicing a far greater proportion of the population compared to the other health care levels, as their services are so highly focused (Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2009). As tertiary care is the uppermost level of care in a typical system, it is generally provided at a select number of hospitals or specialist tertiary centers. Examples of tertiary care providers include cardiac surgeons; specialist burns units, and immunologists, who may concentrate on rare illnesses (Bodenheimer Grumbach, 2009). Should Grise Fiord be considered north? I reiterate that I believe is it dependent upon personal opinion and lived experience. Whether the person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bible is based upon this. Tropical Cyclones are storms that spin in a clockwise direction and have low pressure midpoints. In order for a Tropical Cyclone to form there are two main variables, the earth s revolution and heat. As the ocean reaches at least 27°C, the water then begins to evaporate creating a storm cloud. The greatest factor being the rotation of the earth, forces the storm to begin spinning and to move in a forward direction. The centre of the storm is called The Eye ; this is where it is completely still. There is system in place to categorized using the Australian tropical cyclone intensity scale. SOURCE: http://www.jcu.edu.au/emergency/naturaldisaster/JCUPRD_056756.html Tropical Cyclones have many secondary effects other than just winds. A major secondary effect that impacts towns and cities is Storm Surge. A Storm Surge is defined as a rising of the sea, which is a result of wind and atmospheric pressure changes associated with a storm . This becomes dangerous when certain factors come into play, such as; king tides and when such events approach coastal and unprotected areas. http://www.google.com.au/?gfe_rd=ctrl ei=fJQlU8vqFsqN8QfrqIHACQ gws_rd=cr#q=what+is+a+storm+surge In this modern era, there are lots of products and technology that s is used to identify and predict Tropical Cyclone s. • 41. Where Are You Going Out Of The House And Live Like Adults,... Teenagers want to get out of the house and live like adults, but without the responsibility. Where are you going. Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a fifteen year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home and another out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to her. She ends up meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going to turn out so well. Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to get attention. Things in Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not care about anything. One of the reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family. She is an outcast of the family, her mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her father works all the time so he does not matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get along is because the mother loves the sister June more. June is more of the innocent child where she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as Connie, so she has no other choice then to do whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the promiscuous type that hangs out with the bad crowd and is always into trouble. An example from the text to show how Connie and her mother interact is Why don t you keep your room ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other members of the Clergy flank the Emperor from either side and prominent personalities such as the Bishop Maximianus of Ravenna are also in the portrait. Critical examination of the Justinian and his attendants Mosaic shows that the Emperor is in a central position and the power of the church surrounds his throne to indicate the way his activities are guided by the power of the church. Additionally, Angelic surrounding shows the military administration. In other words, the portrait showed that just like other Emperors of Rome, Justinian had the three forces of religious, military, and administration around him (Mango 13). The clergy in the portrait carry a gospel book, from which the Christians of the church obtain their teachings. The Emperor carries the bowl that is essential in passing the Eucharist to the worshipers and helps one to understand the important role that the emperor played. The bowl is symbolic in nature because it identifies the emperor to be doing the act of homage of a true leader. The symbolism of Christ in the purple orb shows that there is a universal dominion of the power of Christ to the kingdom. St. Vitale gestures a clear mind of the rule of the emperor as a representative of God s will on earth. The Emperor s army of Christ is shown in the form of Chi Rho that is present on the shied the military men are holding (Mango 15). Another aspect that emerges from the artwork is the ... • 44. Potential Spatial Structures Of Peregrine Falcon Populations In addition to the conservation benefits of recognizing that metapopulations have spatial structure, a number of important conservation risks arise when conservationists do not account for the various potential spatial structures of metapopulations. One of the risks of assuming homogenous spatial structure is that the models will produce falsely high numbers, as the actual population violates the assumptions of the model. Wootton and Bell (1992) highlight the importance of addressing spatial structures in their model of Peregrine Falcon populations, as the census data alone would predict a falsely healthy population. Additionally, management plans in populations might be terminated prematurely if conservationists do not understand and account for the dynamics of source and sink metapopulations, which may have fluctuating levels of colonization and extinction rates that are normal for the dynamics of the population (Wootton and Bell 1992). Kauffman et al. (2004) echo this finding, as they emphasize the importance of understanding habitat specific demographic data instead of an overall population count alone, which might carry the assumption of homogenous spatial structure and lead to a misdiagnosis of a population. Another conservation risk of not accounting for spatial structure is that conservationists are likely to miss the connections between spatial structure and genetic structure, both of which play a major role in conservation. Fronhofer et al. (2012) ran several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
