A Brief Biography Of Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony lived in a time where there were very few rights for women and African Americans.
A strong woman, Anthony was a famous suffragist, often credited with gaining the right to vote for
women, an abolitionist as well as a writer. Her life was devoted to finding equality for all Americans
and she had a significant impact upon the history of America.
Susan Brownell Anthony was born to a Quaker family on the day of February 15, 1820. Even in her
early childhood she spent much of her time with community service. She had a large family, being the
second oldest of eight children, with her mother and father. Her father was a cotton mill owner. At the
age of six, Susan s father moved the family to Battenville, New York and she began attending a
Quaker school. Unfortunately, it was around this time that the business of her father failed and
Anthony had to move back home to help make money for her family as a teacher. The Anthony s ...

She went on to contribute another book called The Life and WOrk of Susan B. Anthony: A Story of
the Evolution of the Status of Women.
Susan B. Anthony continued to pursue rights for women up until her late years. The zenith of her
journey was in 1905 when she received the chance to talk to Theodore Roosevelt during his
presidency to persuade him to give women the right to vote. Unfortunately, her death shortly followed,
in 1906 on March 13 at the age of 86. It was a cruel end for her. She had given up the greater majority
of her life pursuing liberty and the right to vote for women yet she was not able to see it in her
lifetime.
It took fourteen long years after her death that the 19th amendment was passed which gave women the
right to vote in the year 1920. 73 years after her death she was given the ultimate honor for her
devotion and her commitment to her cause. Her picture was placed on the dollar

Positive And Negative Effects Of Single Parent Families
The number children being raised in single parent households is continuously growing. There are
positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who only
live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent homes can
impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parent as being very independent, and often
they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the child has the biggest effect on the child. How
the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life (Kunz, 2015, April 15). One
big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent. This can cause a child to perform
poorly in school. Generally, single parent households are run by the mother and the father is absent.
Often times when the parent is only receiving one income, they work more often. This can cause the
child to receive less attention and have less help with their homework. The effect that the other parent,
not living in the house, has on the child is huge. It is proven that children tend to do better in school
and in life in general when both parents are involved in their life. Only having one income in the
household makes it at risk for poverty. When children live in poverty it can have many emotional
effects on them. Some children feel abandonment, loneliness, sadness, and troubles with socializing or
connecting with others. Children also feel the emotions of low

The Education System Of The American School System
Against School
In a progressively more globalized world that necessitates more effective educational practices, the
U.S., once the biggest global force in education, has seen its dominance slowly slip out, and its
educational status fall even lower than that of several third world countries. The decline experienced
in American school system academic achievement is not as a result of lack of funding, but as a
consequence of the overall educational system watering down. According to Gatto, educating children
through the existing public school system of America is crippling rather than helping them. From his
essay, Against School, it is established that the goal of the whole public school system is to limit
people s intelligence in an attempt to create a society that is manageable. Gatto continues to state that
action is needed to change this situation. He supports his assertions using current and historical
information about the American school system and his personal experience. After reading his article,
one realizes that most of Gatto s arguments are true. It is true that the American education system is
making the students comfort to the government and society norms, which is why they are easily bored.
This essay s goal will, therefore, be to support John Gatto s beliefs.
To begin with, Gatto utilizes historical information to question the need for getting an education using
the American public school system. Past occurrences show that people do not need an education

Environmental Health Problems Likely To Be Exacerbated By...
2. Identify a broad range of current environmental health problems likely to be exacerbated by climate
change. How might existing public health practices be altered to anticipate these effects of climate
change? What other key sectors (beyond health) should be engaged?
Current environmental health problems that will likely exacerbate due to climate change include
changes in air and water quality, and increase in parasite growth and chemical pollutants.
General climate change: cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, hypertensive heart disease,
and cancer will raise mortality rates.
Heat stress: most effected are the elderly population
Air pollution: Photochemical oxidants have adverse effects on human health. Inflammatory eye
disease, acute upper respiratory disease, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive ventilator disease,
pulmonary emphysema, and bronchial asthma all fall under this category.

4. What are the potential co benefits and the potential unintended consequences of mitigating
greenhouse gas emissions?
Co benefits of planting trees to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions include reducing urban heat island
effect, reducing local energy demand, improving air quality, and providing an attractive area for
physical and social activities. Reducing fossil fuel use in power plants, reduces air pollution.
Sustainable community design which includes active transport and transit use, reduces vehicular
traffic, and increases physical activity, lessens air pollution, and reduces risk of vehicular injuries and
death.
Potential unintended consequences include diversion of foods (corn and sugar cane) from human
consumption, by creating scarcity and increasing food prices. Humanitarian food aid could dwindle.

Ford Pinto Pros And Cons

positions that are high up in the corporation that keep it running. A CEO for example is someone who

Pinto that was made back in 1970. The problem with the making of this car was it was cheap,
affordable and got people where they needed to be. But what people were finding out was that if you

Use of Mrs. Tobins’s DNA in the Murder of Amanda Christopher
Use of Mrs. Tobins s DNA in the Murder of Amanda Christopher
Introduction:
DNA comparisons are crucial when investigating crimes. Amanda Christopher s home had a
significant amount of forensic evidence behind that has yet to be determined. The Supreme Court has
analyzed the issue as to whether or not use storing and using DNA was considered constitutional.
Although, Pennsylvania is silent on the issue, several states have seen the need for the use and storage
of DNA that is obtained of arrestees charged of serious crimes, such as felonies and sexual offenses.
Analyzing both the federal and other states provides some guidance as to whether or not the use of
previously obtained DNA is constitutional.
Questions Presented:
1. What is the standard for using previously obtained DNA from an unrelated arrest for a current
investigation?
Answer: Depends on the state. Few states allow the storage and use of an arrestee s DNA in certain
criminal proceedings. Most states, including Pennsylvania, limit the storage and use of DNA to those
who were convicted.
2. Can the police use DNA collected at the time of the arrest of Mrs. Tobin from the jewelry store
incident for comparison of the DNA found at Amanda Christopher s home? Answer: Maybe.

The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees all persons the right to be free

Summary Of A Mockingbird By Kathryn Erskine
Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine is a thought provoking fiction novel about a young girl with autism
who is trying to find her place in this world while also dealing with the after effects of the death of her
older brother. Mockingbird is a revealing story that allows one to look inside the mind of a child with
autism. Caitlin, the main character, has Asperger s Syndrome, a term that was still widely in use at the
time of the book s publication. Caitlin is high functioning and extremely smart, but lacks appropriate
social skills and has difficulty reading others emotions. As a younger child, she would flap her hands,

pressure of wrapping her arms tight around herself in upsetting situations. Caitlin also tends to suck on
her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers to as a Tantrum
Rage Meltdown or TRM (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). During these self harming events, she is completely
consumed and is unable to hear what anyone is saying. At one point, Caitlin becomes upset with Mrs.

she starts to run her fingers across the wood, as her finger starts to bleed she continues to rub harder
and harder in an effort to erase the blood (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). These events require intervention as
she is typically unable to stop the behavior on her own. Caitlin is fully verbal and has no physical
impediments or aids for communication. Her primary barriers to communication are her social
awkwardness, bluntness, difficulty making eye contact, and misunderstanding of non literal language.

The Importance Of Easter In Spain
People around the world have many cultures and holidays. Everyone celebrates their holidays with
traditions that appeal to them. With cultural difference added, diversity is created and is part of the
festivities throughout the world. Spain, for example, is just like any other country with its own
holidays, traditions, and activities. This Spanish speaking country has those that contrast to the ones
here in the United States.
To begin with, Spain has a holiday called Semana Santa, or Holy Week, that lasts for a week. The
week before Easter, the regions of the Spanish speaking country celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
with their own styles and customs. However, according to Miruna Corneanu, the author of the article
Easter in Spain , Semana Santa celebrations are nowhere else as elaborate and spectacular as they are
in Andalusia.... In this southern region of the country, the Catholic holiday is honored by with
religious fervor, extravagant processions, color, and art. Motley parades and complex religious
displays of biblical scenes take over the streets in Seville and Malaga. In the town of Calanda, people
celebrate Good Friday by playing drums for twenty four hours. On the contrary, Easter is a holiday
those in the United States celebrate. While it may not last for an entire week but only a day, Easter is
not held on an official date, but instead on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon has happened or
after the March equinox. This holiday is honored by Christians,

The Consequences Of The Goose Girl, A Fairy Tale
Goose Girl is a fairy tale collected by the Grimm brothers who s story line is about a young Princess
arranged for a marriage with a far away prince, and is deceived from her title on her way to her
bridegroom. Deceived and over powered by her waiting woman, the Princess shows development, but
our dreamer for this analysis is the waiting woman. Fairy tales are all about embracing birth rights,
and this is exactly what the waiting woman is deviant about: she broke from the system and tries to
work her way up a class that she is not born into. The waiting woman struggles with her individuation,
the process of accepting the daily events. Through this analysis, the consequences of not accepting the
life you are born to live will serve as an example of a deeper evil. First, to begin this analysis, the
archetypes are to be assigned. We will start with the shadow, represented by the Princess. Accordingly,
this is a same sex character that at first embodies the elements a waiting woman should have: quiet,
submissive, and compliant because she had to give away and let it be as [the waiting woman] said
(583). The Princess carries the qualities that are considered to be expected of a waiting woman. The
opposite sex character that represents the animus in the waiting woman s story is the horse, Falada.
The horse noticed and remembered the acts the waiting woman commits, so she later on tries to get rid
of the horse, who later develops the story in an indirect way (583). The waiting woman s self is
represented by the casket dragged by horses idea she pitched in for the King. Her refusal to become
who she was intended to be led her to declaring her own fate. Moreover, to explain these labels, the
important events relevant to the development of the waiting woman should be recognized and
explained. The waiting woman is first set on her journey to fulfill her duties beside the Princess after
mounting their respective horses. On both occasions that the Princes has been thirsty, the waiting
woman declares I will not be your slave. If you want a drink, you may get it yourself; I am not going
to be your slave (582). To this, the Princess does not respond; the second time around, as she bends to
drink her water, she looses

The Authoritative Parenting And The Style Of The Parenting...
The parenting style that my parents use is definitely authoritative. My parents have shown authority
towards me and my siblings but have always been flexible with their rules. My parents have never
stressed us out by being too strict with their rules. The first question I asked my parents was, how
would you react if one of my siblings or I asked to come home later than you originally told us to
come home? My parents responded that they would ask why we want to come home later and then tell
them they can come home later at a certain time but no later than the extended time. This fits exactly
with the authoritative parenting style because my parents would extend the time which is being
flexible and then also they would enforce a new time for us to come home which shows authority.
Next I asked my parents, what would you do if one of my siblings or I got in trouble at school? My
parents said they would have a talk with whoever got in trouble and make sure they know not to ever
do it again. Also, my parents said they would discipline whoever got in trouble by doing more chores
or taking away their phone for a day. This fits with the authoritative parenting style as well because
my parents are making us understand what we did wrong and learn from it. They would also give a
consequence because of it but nothing that is too harsh because they trust us to learn from what we
did. After that, I asked my parents, what would your reaction be if I did not do my chores at the
house?

Curfew Movie Themes

Life is tougher for some people than it is for others. That may seem like a statement too obvious to be
necessary to write down, but some people find it easy to forget. It s very easy to get caught up in our
own lives and struggles without stepping back and thinking about how easy it can be to slip into a
worse situation. In the same vein, it s easy to forget how any single person you are around could be
experiencing hard to imagine struggles. Curfew, the Oscar winning film written directed and starred

Our recommendation is to take Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) private through a private equity buyout.
After doing so, we recommend implementing a centralized management structure and recruiting retail
savvy executives for the upper management team. We then recommend focusing on increasing value
by capitalizing on SHLD s real estate holdings through leasing agreements and increasing partnerships
with complementary enterprises. Also, we recommend improving employee retention rates and

Additionally, Sears inventory turnover is equal to 148 days, which is more than 2x the industry
average of 65 days. Finally, Sears Holdings quick ratio is .20, which indicates potential for a liquidity
crunch because its liquid assets cannot pay off its current liabilities in a crisis. Opportunities One of
the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations, particularly emerging markets.
Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of SHLD s ecommerce programs, which
only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the industry is slowly shifting from brick and mortar
to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an opportunity to lease floor space out to companies who
can increase traffic into the store. Threats One threat to SHLD is its competition with many retailers
because it is not very differentiated from its competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is
stopping the customer from overlooking Sears and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a
downturn in the economy which could wreck havoc on SHLD s financial position. Porter s Five
Forces Analysis Threat of new entrants is relatively low. There are high barriers to entry in the
discount retail market, including high capital costs, limited access to investors, and a largely crowded
out market place. Threat of substitutions

What Is The Development Of Heathcliff In Wuthering Heights
This summer we had to read the book Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. This paper will cover the
development in Heathcliff, how Catherine Earnshaw influenced other characters even though we didn
t meet her in the story, the symbolism shown in the novel, how Wuthering Heights fits into the
category of gothic fiction, as well as my own expert opinion of the story.
In the story Heathcliff is a pretty significant character. He is brought in by Mr. Earnshaw as an orphan
and is treated well by him. He then starts to fall in love with Mr. Earnshaw s daughter Catherine that
lasts the whole story. However, when Mr. Earnshaw dies, his son Hindley becomes in charge of the
house basically treats Heathcliff as a servant, he constantly looks down at him as if he is useless. So,
in the beginning of the story when Heathcliff is first introduced as a dirty orphan who is taken in by
Mr. Earnshaw who is instantly hated by Hindley because he feels his father loves Heathcliff more than
himself. This results in Hindley bullying Heathcliff as a child and when Mr. Earnshaw dies and he
becomes in charge to remember to flog him. At this point in the story and the first transformation of
Heathcliff he goes from being an orphan to being hated by Hindley and becoming his human punching
bag. The interesting thing about this is that Heathcliff just takes it he never really fights back or tell
Mr. Earnshaw he just gets up and goes about his business not even acknowledging that it happened.

Nicholas 2 Essay
After Nicholas II ended some of the totalitarian bans on free speech and assembly, the masses in
Russia organized strikes in the streets of Petrograd in late February (Service 2005). The strikes
continued for four days as the Russian military did not wish to fire on the crowd of protesters as
ordered by Nicholas II (Beckett 2007). Reasons suggested for the military s reluctance to follow
orders include the number of women involved and the soldiers own socially aligned sympathies (Wade
2000). According to the old calendar, the February Revolution occurred on February 26, 1917 as
protesters tore down reminders of Nicholas II s regime (Ibid). Even the loyal troops aligned
themselves with the revolutionaries the following day (Ibid). Nicholas II, after having been stopped by
mutinying troops, eventually abdicated his throne in early March (Beckett 2007). ... Show more

beginning of the revolution. The Women s March on Versailles, from October 1 to 5, 1789, was

What Is The Difference Between Realism And Realism
Realism Realism in international relations theory is one of the dominant schools of thought in
international relations. Realism or political realism prioritizes national interests and security concerns
in addition to moral ideology and social reconstruction. The term is often associated with political
power. The term is often associated with political power.
Realism believes that the state is the main actor of the most important in determining the direction of a
country. This means there is no term mentioned as an International Organization but merely the State.
Realism also believes the State is deciding on the future of the people. In connection with it, the state

Constructivism Realism agree with the theory that says the world is in anarchy (chaos).
Constructivism also said that international relations can be established through conflict and
cooperation. So here assessed the importance of existing institutions namely through regulative and
constitutive. Each country needs to comply with the decree. If away, then there are various forms of
action to be taken such as military, economic supply restrictions and others. So countries need to
assess national interests whether to cooperate or not.
Constructivism also emphasizes the influence of culture in international relations. This is because the
relationship is true not only taking into account the political and ideological aspects alone, but also the
cultural aspects. For example if there are cultural similarities between actors will be more likely to
facilitate collaboration and no conflicts will occur. This can be seen through the relationship between
Malaysia and Indonesia that have similar culture, namely cultural and religious expression of Islam.

It is the play that broke him into the spotlight as a new American talent partially in thanks to the

Cotton Club Segregation
There is No Color in Music Throughout the 1920s, the U.S. was experiencing segregation with a
decay. African Americans and Caucasians were split, and the social classes were divided by the color
of skin. Caucasians were automatically assumed to have a higher social standing than any other
ethnicity. This divide was everywhere schools, housing, public amenities, and especially in clubs.
Nightclubs during the 1920s were booming, attracting large crowds promising entertainment as they
were practically invented in the 1920s. Before the idea of nightclubs men could find a bar or a
restaurant, however, women weren t allowed; so it came to no surprise as nightclubs started opening
on every other block. Even though the club scene throughout New York was very populated, one club
surfaced above the rest in popularity: The Cotton Club. The Cotton Club, though only open to

from any other musician even during segregation. The author of The Cotton Club Girls , Peter Bailey,
describes how the dancers really were the stars of the show, The Cotton Club that Duke Ellington s
mastery of the music that he was later to call his Mistress first brought him national and international
acclaim...But they all took a back seat to the famous Cotton Club Girls (Bailey.91 93). The Cotton
Club Girls were really the star of the show, even topping the famous Duke Ellington. Peter Baily goes
as far as to directly state that the Cotton Club Girls were famous showing just how much importance
they carried to The Cotton Club and clientele that was brought in. The Cotton Club Girls article shines

Celiac Diseases Research Paper
Celiac disease (CD) and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) is on the rise. Although general
consensus states that the diseases incidence varies greatly, research conducted in the last 30 40 years
contradicts those claims. Yes, the proliferation can be partially credited to increased efficiency in
diagnostic techniques and the mainstream status of the diseases, but the spread of affliction in not only
the US and Europe, but to geographic areas not historically affected by CD and NCGS, is equally
enigmatic. A 2010 cohort study, with data collected since 1974, illustrated that CD increased 5 fold
from 0.2% in 1975 to 1% 25 years later (1). A study in Scotland has marked a 6.4 fold increase

Out of every cereal grain consumed around the world, wheat gluten contains the greatest amounts of
glutamate at 25% by weight (7). Since K. Ikeda s original experiments and T. Hayashi s observations
of glutamate s ability to induce seizure activity upon direct application to the CNS, scientists have
come a long way in the understanding of excito toxins and their roles in food. Glutamate is largely
responsible for wheat s prodigious umami taste, coined by Ikeda in the early 1900s. Umami also gives
substances such as MSG the unique ability to heighten and amplify taste, and is likely the reasoning
behind wheat s popularity and opiate like activity in the brain. Elevated and recurrent dietary
glutamate intake has been statistically shown to increase probability of developing neurodegenerative

Glass Ceiling And Discrimination Of Women In The Workplace
It is no secret or surprise that women have always, and continue to be paid less than men in the
workplace. Not only that, but women are also put in low status jobs, no matter their qualifications; a
lot of women are put in a box when it comes to their jobs or careers. It is mind blowing that women
are still facing inequality when it comes to work, considering we are living in very liberal times.
Women in work tend to go unnoticed, it might be because our nation and our world are so used to
women usually getting the shorter end of the stick, but it needs to be talked about more if we want
equality. When speaking about women in work, it is important to talk about the typical jobs women
take on that are sometimes low in status. First off, women are more likely to be employed in unpaid
care work and housework. They take these jobs because of the time availability, relative resource
perspectives, and the symbolic representation of their gender. When women take on paid jobs, it ends
up being balanced with unpaid work because of maternity leaves. All these normality s for women are
often criticized because there is a double shift which means women ... Show more content on

Compare And Contrast International Traditional School And...
5.1 Introduction: Throughout the centuries, architects have come up with various schools of
architecture to follow. Each school is unique and some can integrate other principles from their
predecessors. Respectively, each style has its own principles and famous architects that created the
style or are categorized under it based on their designs. Styles can truly help throughout the design
stage, especially with the concept part. For this proposed project, two schools have been chosen to

Essay On The World Revolution Of 1968
ORIGIN OF THE UPRISALS
There have been many speculations on the fundamental origins of the World Revolution of 1968.
Although these speculations agree on the background reasons of political protests centering the year,
arguments vary on the attribution to the social changes during the two decades that followed the World
War II. The World Revolution of 1968 was not something that materialized out of thin air; it was an
epicenter of social changes that took place over the course of two decades.
With the great help of United States, the world especially Europe was recovering from the disasters of
the World War II. The status quo of the west seemed on the way to restoration if not actually already
rejuvenated. The stimulated economic growth saw many young adults pursuing their studies to
university level as the world strived to survive the aftermath of the World Wars. The endeavors to
move forward and focus on ensuring the sustainability formulated a silent consensus to give way to
peaceful prosperity and low tolerance to any fabrications of war. Thus, the continual engagement of
wars definitely exhausted the world system into an arena of a period of basically crafting the main
characteristics of the then ensuing Cold War.

I ve never, in actual fact, sat down thought to myself Does the language I speak influence the way I
think? Growing up, I picked up innumerable different languages that weren t very much helpful being
the person I am in the moment. The language I speak most of the time is unsatisfactory, weak, and
needs improvement. I often find myself becoming aggressive throughout the conversation with hopes
of getting my point across, however, the only thing it does is make others look at me differently. I
came to realize I have to be aware of weak language and eliminate and/or replace the words that have
a negative impact on my professional image and reputation. Simple replacements can make a
difference in how one s message is perceived. I know by simply removing weak words from my daily
vocabulary I could instantly change my language from weak to strong with little effort. Nevertheless,

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) are a popular freshwater fish that have been modified by researchers to
produce several transgenic strains. The strain of transgenic zebrafish that express fluorescent colors
have been given the name Glofish, for they contain different fluorescent proteins such as Green
Fluorescent Protein (GFP), Red Fluorescent Protein (RFP), Yellow Fluorescent Protein (YFP), Blue

Phenotypes pertaining to fins, fin length, and color were observed. Only a few phenotypes, such as fin
length and presence of specific fluorescent proteins, were decided on to be important in understanding
the genetics (Biology 2202 Genetics Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015).
Fishes with these phenotypes were counted and recorded.
Generating Hypotheses
Numbers of the wild type and transgenic fish were compared. Type of transgenes and type of
inheritance were hypothesized based on the patterns seen in the offspring. Using that information can
help determine the parent genotypes and thus determine a final inheritance pattern. A null hypothesis
was then formed relative to the genes and inheritance pattern of each tank (Biology 2202 Genetics
Laboratory Handout, University of Minnesota Duluth, 2015).
Data Analysis
Hypothesis were generated by comparing the phenotypes of each tank. The hypothesis included the
ratio and expected inheritance pattern, and that any difference is due to chance. Using the information
collected based on the genotypes of the parents and the formed hypothesis, the expected value for each
phenotype were calculated and recorded. A chi square test was used to determine the P value and

Confederate Viewpoints
Beyond sharpening my social awareness, Intergroup Dialogue forced me to consider that my

conflicting viewpoints were the most defining aspect of the IGD experience. Upon reflection,
however, it is probable that I felt this way because the majority of the opinions expressed were similar

been completely different as compared to what they are used to. As an example, there was a time in

This dissimilarity in perspective arose during Four Corners, an activity wherein students individually

should be banned was read, nearly every student moved to the agree half of the room. However, Sarah

Persuasive Essay On The Lottery
If you live in the United States of America then you know exactly what the Powerball is. Essentially, it
is an American lottery game offered around forty four states in the United States of America. Every
day millions of people are competing to buy lottery tickets from anywhere that they can find them.
This includes gas stations, grocery stores, and even in malls. The sad thing about this lottery game is
that most of the income from the lottery ticket goes straight back to the state where you bought your
ticket from. When a Powerball ticket is bought, around fifty to sixty five percent of the two dollars
goes to the prize money. While less than a dime, goes to running the lottery and twelve to fourteen
cents also goes to the store that sold the ticket.
The state government should utilize more of the thirty five through fifty percent of Powerball money
they receive to directly address and alleviate poverty because they are using the money on things we
already have, low income people are usually the ones that are buying these lottery tickets, and it would
benefit the low income part of the community by the amount of support that could be given to schools.

How Did Plato s Beliefs Contribute To The Study Of Philosophy
Philosophy can be described as coming to understand through means of deep thoughts. Two famous
examples of practitioners of this field include Plato and Parmenides. Though these two philosophers
taught about many different things, they both taught and agreed on one thing: what it meant to be
wise. Plato and Parmenides both provide an account of what it means to be wise, and the central
agreement between them is that at its core, wisdom is realizing that truth lies beyond the base senses
and hubris of the human body.
Plato believed that wisdom consists of gaining knowledge and understanding through the forms, and
by reducing dependency on the bodily senses, and the material realm that they observe. Plato is called

Cave. In this thought experiment, Plato described a cave, in which there were multiple prisoners, who
for their entire lives have been bound and shackled in such a way that they were made to look at the
wall of the cave. On this wall, several shadows of statues of animals, plants, and animals are cast by a
fire behind the prisoners. These prisoners, if not told otherwise, would live their entire lives believing
that the shadows were the only things in existence; not being aware that they were mere images of
something which is more real. However, one of the prisoners were freed, they would be able to turn
around and see that the shadows were less real than the statues,

Motivation In The Public Organization Essay
Motivation In The Public Organization
Managing today s public organization is much more complicated than it was ten to twenty years ago.
The external environment is changing faster than organizations can move to meet the changing
demands. The ideology behind the bureaucracy or public organization is much like that of our United
States Constitution, designed for stability and endurance. For this reason, the public organization has
operated internally under strict guidelines while resisting change. These ideas have passed through
generations of bureaucrats as, the way things are done. In this manner, organizations hire specialists to
perform routine procedures to provide some good, product, or service to the community. Employees

If citizens refused, the armed men were there to implement the king s rule by force.
Weber s belief of the bureaucracy is based on organization and power. The foundation of this
organization and power is legitimate authority. According to Weber there are three types of legitimate
authority: one is rational legal authority, resting on a belief in the legality of patterns of normative
rules and the right of those elevated to authority under such rules to issue command; traditional
authority, resting on an established belief in the sanctity of immemorial traditions and the legitimacy
of the status of those exercising authority under them; and charismatic authority, resting on devotion
to the specific and exceptional sanctity, heroism, or exemplary character of an individual person, and
of the normative patterns or order revealed or ordained by him. Weber felt that the rational legal
authority was the most efficient and consistent of the three. However, he felt that defining what
constituted rational legal authority was equally important to defining the bureaucracy. He did this by
establishing a model that would encompass all the elements needed for a bureaucracy. These elements
are:

Focu Assumptions Essay
Introduction
When immigrants first came to America, a motivating factor behind their reason to move had a strong
correlation with the religious freedom that was offered within the country. Thus, as America grew and
aged religious freedom quickly became essential to many different religious groups. This is very true
for a particular branch of Christianity, the Mormons. Mormonism began near 1820 when a man,
named Joseph Smith, translated the Bible and Book of Mormon, becoming the first prophet for the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Joseph Smith s name went down in history and is
a household name for Mormons across the world. Joseph Smith
On any given day of the week, if one was to pass by a Mormon church, then they would always see
lights on in the church house and cars parked in the church parking lot. The church is often a safe
haven for many people and they view it as a place where they can come closer to God by learning
from the scriptures and the gospel leaders. Yet, it is not only scripture study classes that occur within
the walls of the church. A variety of different activities occur throughout the week that is catered to all
sorts of ages. These activities give the members of the church and even non members a chance to
develop relationships with each other and to find a comforting shelter.

I grew up in the church and was baptized at the age of accountability, which is eight years old. Thus, I
already had an understanding about the LDS religion. I know how the inner workings of the church

churches were conducted and how the people in these other religions acted. A young thirteen year old
girl invited me to attend church with her in order for me to be able to grasp a limited understanding of

Job provides a comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008, which at a cost over $20
trillion, caused millions of people to lose their jobs and homes in the worst recession since the Great
Depression, and nearly resulted in a global financial collapse. Through exhaustive research and
extensive interviews with key financial insiders, politicians, journalists, and academics, the film traces
the rise of a rogue industry which has corrupted politics, regulation, and academia. Inside Job is an

And one of the most poignant scenes in the film comes from Robert Gnaizda, the former head of the
Greenlining Institute, a consumer lobbyist group who laughingly dismisses recent legislation to
regulate banks with a simple Hah . Inside Job helps explain many of the complex terms such as
derivatives and insurance backed securities that confuse those not immersed in the banking
community. It is essential viewing for any citizen concerned about our broken system. When I
watched it on TV the documentary Inside job about the Global Financial Crisis that started in USA
and I was blown away by the level of corruption that existed and continue even today. Apparently
almost nothing has been improved in the legislation to prevent such a crisis from happening in the
future. Hard to believe all this criminals still rich and walked free after ruin the life of millions... Hope
one day justice will come down to all of them. So I m glad to watch this movie, it really opened our
eyes to all that evil in this world today. Everyone should see this and they will understand why were
still in the mess today. That old saying THE RICH GET RICHER, WHILE THE POOR GET
POORER is so true in this store. This documentary explains how the people has always been a slave
to the sovereign. Democracy is very limited in a system in which money is used to solve problems that
money creates. These criminals need to be arrested for crimes against humanity, every one of them

Braveheart Patrick Henry Analysis
Liberty is something that can motivate people to take drastic actions, even go into war. One piece that
exemplifies this is Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Council, in which, Patrick Henry claims that
people should fight for their liberty. It can also be seen in the movie Braveheart, by Mel Gibson,
during William Wallace s speech to his soldiers. Both men use their emotionally charged speeches to
try to get their audiences to fight for their liberty. Both Patrick Henry and, the character, William
Wallace use the idea of liberty to motivate their audiences. When Patrick Henry addressed the Virginia
Convention, he used the ideals of liberty from an oppressor. Patrick Henry once pleaded, Give me
liberty or give me death, (85). In this quote Henry cries for a government of his choosing, Henry is
trying to exclaim for the audience that they should want to live how they desire and not how someone
else desires them to live. As a closing to his argument this emotionally charged statement is how
Henry tries to rally the crowd. Henry used emotion throughout his speech, in the beginning Henry
exclaimed, ... I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery... (83). He is telling
the Convention that the British are practically enslaving the colonists because they are forcing them
around with soldiers. Henry also uses this to motivate people to fight for their beliefs. Because Henry
uses emotion, motivation, and rebellion from oppression Henry focussed on

Pre Colonial America Summary
Pre Modern Colonial America In The Radicalism of the American Revolution, Gordan S. Wood
creates an in depth analysis of why colonial America could be classified as a pre modern society. He
presents a thorough argument for how hierarchal trends and patriarchal dependency of the colonists
emphasized the more traditional culture of the early Americans. The colonists had created a society in
which there was a deep prevalence for British customs, such as, reverence for the king, the inheritance
of land and status, the strength of a household, and the importance of rank (Wood 12, 16, 46, 18).
Before the revolution, America resembled its native England; once they had severed ties and moved
forward with their own form of government with confidence, pre modern America initiated the first
steps to become a truly independent and modern nation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By building up their family trees, colonial Americans were able to use their kinship as an advantage in
a variety of ways including, but not limited to, the manipulation of politics (Wood 48). This was due
to the patriarchal dependency of most of the citizens; in colonial America the familial household was
the center of society and the strength of it. The patriarchal tradition of the society creates a system in
which the institutions mimic households; that created a society that was dependent on a head because
no man was independent in and of himself

Crucial to cell phones are applications, conversationally known as Apps. To secure touchy assets in
the smart phones, consent based permissions are utilized by cutting edge cell phone frameworks to
keep untrusted applications away from the smartphone user. In Android, an application needs to
expressly ask for an arrangement of authorizations when it is introduced. On the other hand, after
consents are allowed to an application, there is no real way to assess and limit how these
authorizations are utilized by the application to use delicate assets. Obviously, Android has pulled in
an enormous number of assaults.
While these malware applications are clear samples containing undesirable practices, sadly indeed,
even in evidently generous applications, there could likewise be numerous concealed undesirable
practices, for example, protection intrusion. A vital part in the battle against these undesirable
practices is the examination of delicate practices in Android applications. Customary investigation
methods recreate program practices from gathered system executions.
On account of Android gadgets, the establishment process for another application approaches the
client for authorization to get to certain ensured assets, for example, camera, contact lookup, or system

Captain Americ The American Dream
Captain s Duty From Captain America s birth, he symbolized America. In and out of costume, Captain
America, AKA Steve Rodgers, exemplifies all the best qualities of America. He embodies the
American dream. America continues to grow more diverse every day, yet still Steve remains the
undying patriotic example of what it means to be American.
The American dream in simple terms is the fulfillment of the ideals the America was founded on with
equal respect. To go into more detail, the American Dream allows all people the rights of liberty,
autonomy, justice, dignity, the pursuit of happiness, and the ability to hold the country s leaders
accountable when they fail to uphold these rights. Because the American dream applies to all people

The patriotic symbol of the American dream has numerous times dissented from the ruling political
powers. Steve Rodgers lives the life of a patriot through and through, but it is important to understand
what it means to live patriotically. Captain America s patriotism doesn t hinge on blind passion of one
s country right or wrong or on the us versus them mentality produced during war times. These types of
patriotisms prevent the betterment of the world at large. These exclusionary patriotisms neglect the
dignity of other peoples and creates the illusion that anyone who thinks differently belongs to the them
party. Instead, Cap s patriotism lies of Stephen Nathanson s philosophic moderate patriotism, which
balances devotion to one s country with ethical demands to care for all (White 147). Captain America
embraces the shared humanity of people across national borders. He would strongly support
Nathanson s claim that so long as devotion to one s country do not lead to immoral actions, then
patriotism can be laudable. When concern for the own country blinds people to the legitimate needs
and interests of other nations, then patriotism becomes a vice (White147). Captain America believes
countries have the right to pursue its interest, but this should be done with consideration of other
nations and peoples and not at the cost of the countries principles. Captain America s cosmopolitan
patriotism puts him at odds with the government three

Effect of Temperature on an Enzyme in Hydgrogen Peroxide
Introduction.
The aim of this investigation is to find out how temperature affects the speed at which the
enzyme,Catalase, works best in Hydrogen Peroxide.I hope to achieve reliable results that will confirm
my predictions.
I predict that:
· By increasing the temperature of the Hydrogen Peroxide, the Catalase will react faster. This is
because the particles have more energy so they will move and react at a faster rate.
· At about 40c, the Catalase will start to deteriorate because the substrate no longer fits the enzyme
making the enzyme useless.
· I predict that the enzyme will work at its best at 37c because that is ... Show more content on

I know that with a rise of 10c the rate of reaction will be doubled in a single cell. This is because the
particles are moving faster due to the increase of energy(rate of reactions). As soon as the temperature
becomes too high, the enzyme will become denatured, meaning that the enzyme will no longer fit the
substrate and at this point the rate of reaction slows down rapidly and eventually the enzyme becomes
useless.
I hope to find the temperature at which the enzyme performs best and the temperature at which the
rate of reaction slows down showing the enzyme has become denatured.
An enzyme is a biological catalyst which alters the rate of reaction without being changed itself.
Enzymes are proteins;they have very precise three dimensional shape, which forms a one specific
active site on the enzyme. Each enzyme can only convert one kind of

  • 2. A Brief Biography Of Susan B. Anthony Susan B. Anthony lived in a time where there were very few rights for women and African Americans. A strong woman, Anthony was a famous suffragist, often credited with gaining the right to vote for women, an abolitionist as well as a writer. Her life was devoted to finding equality for all Americans and she had a significant impact upon the history of America. Susan Brownell Anthony was born to a Quaker family on the day of February 15, 1820. Even in her early childhood she spent much of her time with community service. She had a large family, being the second oldest of eight children, with her mother and father. Her father was a cotton mill owner. At the age of six, Susan s father moved the family to Battenville, New York and she began attending a Quaker school. Unfortunately, it was around this time that the business of her father failed and Anthony had to move back home to help make money for her family as a teacher. The Anthony s ... The zenith of her journey was in 1905 when she received the chance to talk to Theodore Roosevelt during his presidency to persuade him to give women the right to vote. Unfortunately, her death shortly followed, in 1906 on March 13 at the age of 86. It was a cruel end for her. She had given up the greater majority of her life pursuing liberty and the right to vote for women yet she was not able to see it in her lifetime. It took fourteen long years after her death that the 19th amendment was passed which gave women the right to vote in the year 1920. 73 years after her death she was given the ultimate honor for her devotion and her commitment to her cause. • 4. Positive And Negative Effects Of Single Parent Families The number children being raised in single parent households is continuously growing. There are positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who only live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent homes can impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parent as being very independent, and often they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the child has the biggest effect on the child. How the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life (Kunz, 2015, April 15). One big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent. This can cause a child to perform poorly in school. Generally, single parent households are run by the mother and the father is absent. Often times when the parent is only receiving one income, they work more often. This can cause the child to receive less attention and have less help with their homework. The effect that the other parent, not living in the house, has on the child is huge. It is proven that children tend to do better in school and in life in general when both parents are involved in their life. Only having one income in the household makes it at risk for poverty. When children live in poverty it can have many emotional effects on them. Some children feel abandonment, loneliness, sadness, and troubles with socializing or connecting with others. Children also feel the emotions of low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Education System Of The American School System Against School In a progressively more globalized world that necessitates more effective educational practices, the U.S., once the biggest global force in education, has seen its dominance slowly slip out, and its educational status fall even lower than that of several third world countries. The decline experienced in American school system academic achievement is not as a result of lack of funding, but as a consequence of the overall educational system watering down. According to Gatto, educating children through the existing public school system of America is crippling rather than helping them. From his essay, Against School, it is established that the goal of the whole public school system is to limit people s intelligence in an attempt to create a society that is manageable. Gatto continues to state that action is needed to change this situation. He supports his assertions using current and historical information about the American school system and his personal experience. After reading his article, one realizes that most of Gatto s arguments are true. It is true that the American education system is making the students comfort to the government and society norms, which is why they are easily bored. This essay s goal will, therefore, be to support John Gatto s beliefs. To begin with, Gatto utilizes historical information to question the need for getting an education using the American public school system. Past occurrences show that people do not need an education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a business, you have several positions that are high up in the corporation that keep it running. A CEO for example is someone who makes decisions for the business and its products it sells. The case we are dealing with is the Ford Pinto that was made back in 1970. The problem with the making of this car was it was cheap, affordable and got people where they needed to be. But what people were finding out was that if you went 20mph and got rear ended your car could have the possibility of catching on fire. There in fact had been numerous of cases that had been reported of people dying from such incidents. Yet, with the condition of people being aware and along ... Amanda Christopher s home had a significant amount of forensic evidence behind that has yet to be determined. The Supreme Court has analyzed the issue as to whether or not use storing and using DNA was considered constitutional. Although, Pennsylvania is silent on the issue, several states have seen the need for the use and storage of DNA that is obtained of arrestees charged of serious crimes, such as felonies and sexual offenses. Analyzing both the federal and other states provides some guidance as to whether or not the use of previously obtained DNA is constitutional. Questions Presented: 1. What is the standard for using previously obtained DNA from an unrelated arrest for a current investigation? Answer: Depends on the state. Few states allow the storage and use of an arrestee s DNA in certain criminal proceedings. Most states, including Pennsylvania, limit the storage and use of DNA to those who were convicted. 2. Caitlin also tends to suck on her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers to as a Tantrum Rage Meltdown or TRM (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). During these self harming events, she is completely consumed and is unable to hear what anyone is saying. At one point, Caitlin becomes upset with Mrs. Brook for engaging in eye contact with her for too long and she proceeds to hide under the table where she starts to run her fingers across the wood, as her finger starts to bleed she continues to rub harder and harder in an effort to erase the blood (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). These events require intervention as she is typically unable to stop the behavior on her own. Caitlin is fully verbal and has no physical impediments or aids for communication. • 11. The Importance Of Easter In Spain People around the world have many cultures and holidays. Everyone celebrates their holidays with traditions that appeal to them. With cultural difference added, diversity is created and is part of the festivities throughout the world. Spain, for example, is just like any other country with its own holidays, traditions, and activities. This Spanish speaking country has those that contrast to the ones here in the United States. To begin with, Spain has a holiday called Semana Santa, or Holy Week, that lasts for a week. The week before Easter, the regions of the Spanish speaking country celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with their own styles and customs. However, according to Miruna Corneanu, the author of the article Easter in Spain , Semana Santa celebrations are nowhere else as elaborate and spectacular as they are in Andalusia.... In this southern region of the country, the Catholic holiday is honored by with religious fervor, extravagant processions, color, and art. Motley parades and complex religious displays of biblical scenes take over the streets in Seville and Malaga. In the town of Calanda, people celebrate Good Friday by playing drums for twenty four hours. On the contrary, Easter is a holiday those in the United States celebrate. While it may not last for an entire week but only a day, Easter is not held on an official date, but instead on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon has happened or after the March equinox. • 12. The Consequences Of The Goose Girl, A Fairy Tale Goose Girl is a fairy tale collected by the Grimm brothers who s story line is about a young Princess arranged for a marriage with a far away prince, and is deceived from her title on her way to her bridegroom. Deceived and over powered by her waiting woman, the Princess shows development, but our dreamer for this analysis is the waiting woman. Fairy tales are all about embracing birth rights, and this is exactly what the waiting woman is deviant about: she broke from the system and tries to work her way up a class that she is not born into. The waiting woman struggles with her individuation, the process of accepting the daily events. Through this analysis, the consequences of not accepting the life you are born to live will serve as an example of a deeper evil. First, to begin this analysis, the archetypes are to be assigned. We will start with the shadow, represented by the Princess. Accordingly, this is a same sex character that at first embodies the elements a waiting woman should have: quiet, submissive, and compliant because she had to give away and let it be as [the waiting woman] said (583). The Princess carries the qualities that are considered to be expected of a waiting woman. The opposite sex character that represents the animus in the waiting woman s story is the horse, Falada. The horse noticed and remembered the acts the waiting woman commits, so she later on tries to get rid of the horse, who later develops the story in an indirect way (583). The waiting woman s self is represented by the casket dragged by horses idea she pitched in for the King. Her refusal to become who she was intended to be led her to declaring her own fate. Moreover, to explain these labels, the important events relevant to the development of the waiting woman should be recognized and explained. The waiting woman is first set on her journey to fulfill her duties beside the Princess after mounting their respective horses. On both occasions that the Princes has been thirsty, the waiting woman declares I will not be your slave. If you want a drink, you may get it yourself; I am not going to be your slave (582). To this, the Princess does not respond; the second time around, as she bends to drink her water, she looses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Authoritative Parenting And The Style Of The Parenting... The parenting style that my parents use is definitely authoritative. My parents have shown authority towards me and my siblings but have always been flexible with their rules. My parents have never stressed us out by being too strict with their rules. The first question I asked my parents was, how would you react if one of my siblings or I asked to come home later than you originally told us to come home? My parents responded that they would ask why we want to come home later and then tell them they can come home later at a certain time but no later than the extended time. This fits exactly with the authoritative parenting style because my parents would extend the time which is being flexible and then also they would enforce a new time for us to come home which shows authority. Next I asked my parents, what would you do if one of my siblings or I got in trouble at school? My parents said they would have a talk with whoever got in trouble and make sure they know not to ever do it again. Also, my parents said they would discipline whoever got in trouble by doing more chores or taking away their phone for a day. This fits with the authoritative parenting style as well because my parents are making us understand what we did wrong and learn from it. They would also give a consequence because of it but nothing that is too harsh because they trust us to learn from what we did. After that, I asked my parents, what would your reaction be if I did not do my chores at the house? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Opportunities One of the opportunities for SHDL to explore is to expand in to other nations, particularly emerging markets. Another opportunity is to expand is to accelerate the growth of SHLD s ecommerce programs, which only represents 3% of its revenues, especially as the industry is slowly shifting from brick and mortar to brick and click format. Lastly, SHLD has an opportunity to lease floor space out to companies who can increase traffic into the store. Threats One threat to SHLD is its competition with many retailers because it is not very differentiated from its competitors and lacks brand loyalty, thus nothing is stopping the customer from overlooking Sears and visiting a rival retailer. Another threat is a downturn in the economy which could wreck havoc on SHLD s financial position. Porter s Five Forces Analysis Threat of new entrants is relatively low. • 16. What Is The Development Of Heathcliff In Wuthering Heights This summer we had to read the book Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. This paper will cover the development in Heathcliff, how Catherine Earnshaw influenced other characters even though we didn t meet her in the story, the symbolism shown in the novel, how Wuthering Heights fits into the category of gothic fiction, as well as my own expert opinion of the story. In the story Heathcliff is a pretty significant character. He is brought in by Mr. Earnshaw as an orphan and is treated well by him. He then starts to fall in love with Mr. Earnshaw s daughter Catherine that lasts the whole story. However, when Mr. Earnshaw dies, his son Hindley becomes in charge of the house basically treats Heathcliff as a servant, he constantly looks down at him as if he is useless. So, in the beginning of the story when Heathcliff is first introduced as a dirty orphan who is taken in by Mr. Earnshaw who is instantly hated by Hindley because he feels his father loves Heathcliff more than himself. This results in Hindley bullying Heathcliff as a child and when Mr. Earnshaw dies and he becomes in charge to remember to flog him. At this point in the story and the first transformation of Heathcliff he goes from being an orphan to being hated by Hindley and becoming his human punching bag. The interesting thing about this is that Heathcliff just takes it he never really fights back or tell Mr. Earnshaw he just gets up and goes about his business not even acknowledging that it happened. ... Nicholas 2 Essay After Nicholas II ended some of the totalitarian bans on free speech and assembly, the masses in Russia organized strikes in the streets of Petrograd in late February (Service 2005). The strikes continued for four days as the Russian military did not wish to fire on the crowd of protesters as ordered by Nicholas II (Beckett 2007). Reasons suggested for the military s reluctance to follow orders include the number of women involved and the soldiers own socially aligned sympathies (Wade 2000). According to the old calendar, the February Revolution occurred on February 26, 1917 as protesters tore down reminders of Nicholas II s regime (Ibid). Two famous examples of practitioners of this field include Plato and Parmenides. Though these two philosophers taught about many different things, they both taught and agreed on one thing: what it meant to be wise. Plato and Parmenides both provide an account of what it means to be wise, and the central agreement between them is that at its core, wisdom is realizing that truth lies beyond the base senses and hubris of the human body. Plato believed that wisdom consists of gaining knowledge and understanding through the forms, and by reducing dependency on the bodily senses, and the material realm that they observe. In this thought experiment, Plato described a cave, in which there were multiple prisoners, who for their entire lives have been bound and shackled in such a way that they were made to look at the wall of the cave. On this wall, several shadows of statues of animals, plants, and animals are cast by a fire behind the prisoners. These prisoners, if not told otherwise, would live their entire lives believing that the shadows were the only things in existence; not being aware that they were mere images of something which is more real. The external environment is changing faster than organizations can move to meet the changing demands. The ideology behind the bureaucracy or public organization is much like that of our United States Constitution, designed for stability and endurance. If citizens refused, the armed men were there to implement the king s rule by force. Weber s belief of the bureaucracy is based on organization and power. The foundation of this organization and power is legitimate authority. According to Weber there are three types of legitimate authority: one is rational legal authority, resting on a belief in the legality of patterns of normative rules and the right of those elevated to authority under such rules to issue command; traditional authority, resting on an established belief in the sanctity of immemorial traditions and the legitimacy of the status of those exercising authority under them; and charismatic authority, resting on devotion to the specific and exceptional sanctity, heroism, or exemplary character of an individual person, and of the normative patterns or order revealed or ordained by him. Weber felt that the rational legal authority was the most efficient and consistent of the three. However, he felt that defining what constituted rational legal authority was equally important to defining the bureaucracy. He did this by establishing a model that would encompass all the elements needed for a bureaucracy. These elements are: Division of Labor work is divided by work and type, with jurisdictional boundaries for each working unit without overlapping or duplicating functions; Hierarchy clear levels of ... Focu Assumptions Essay Introduction When immigrants first came to America, a motivating factor behind their reason to move had a strong correlation with the religious freedom that was offered within the country. Thus, as America grew and aged religious freedom quickly became essential to many different religious groups. This is very true for a particular branch of Christianity, the Mormons. Mormonism began near 1820 when a man, named Joseph Smith, translated the Bible and Book of Mormon, becoming the first prophet for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Joseph Smith s name went down in history and is a household name for Mormons across the world. Joseph Smith On any given day of the week, if one was to pass by a Mormon church, then they would always see lights on in the church house and cars parked in the church parking lot. The church is often a safe haven for many people and they view it as a place where they can come closer to God by learning from the scriptures and the gospel leaders. Yet, it is not only scripture study classes that occur within the walls of the church. A variety of different activities occur throughout the week that is catered to all sorts of ages. • 45. Braveheart Patrick Henry Analysis Liberty is something that can motivate people to take drastic actions, even go into war. One piece that exemplifies this is Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Council, in which, Patrick Henry claims that people should fight for their liberty. It can also be seen in the movie Braveheart, by Mel Gibson, during William Wallace s speech to his soldiers. Both men use their emotionally charged speeches to try to get their audiences to fight for their liberty. Both Patrick Henry and, the character, William Wallace use the idea of liberty to motivate their audiences. When Patrick Henry addressed the Virginia Convention, he used the ideals of liberty from an oppressor. Patrick Henry once pleaded, Give me liberty or give me death, (85). In this quote Henry cries for a government of his choosing, Henry is trying to exclaim for the audience that they should want to live how they desire and not how someone else desires them to live. As a closing to his argument this emotionally charged statement is how Henry tries to rally the crowd. Henry used emotion throughout his speech, in the beginning Henry exclaimed, ... I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery... (83). Henry also uses this to motivate people to fight for their beliefs. Because Henry uses emotion, motivation, and rebellion from oppression Henry focussed on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Pre Colonial America Summary Pre Modern Colonial America In The Radicalism of the American Revolution, Gordan S. Wood creates an in depth analysis of why colonial America could be classified as a pre modern society. He presents a thorough argument for how hierarchal trends and patriarchal dependency of the colonists emphasized the more traditional culture of the early Americans. The colonists had created a society in which there was a deep prevalence for British customs, such as, reverence for the king, the inheritance of land and status, the strength of a household, and the importance of rank (Wood 12, 16, 46, 18). Before the revolution, America resembled its native England; once they had severed ties and moved forward with their own form of government with confidence, pre modern America initiated the first steps to become a truly independent and modern nation. ... Captain America s patriotism doesn t hinge on blind passion of one s country right or wrong or on the us versus them mentality produced during war times. These types of patriotisms prevent the betterment of the world at large. These exclusionary patriotisms neglect the dignity of other peoples and creates the illusion that anyone who thinks differently belongs to the them party. Instead, Cap s patriotism lies of Stephen Nathanson s philosophic moderate patriotism, which balances devotion to one s country with ethical demands to care for all (White 147). He would strongly support Nathanson s claim that so long as devotion to one s country do not lead to immoral actions, then patriotism can be laudable. When concern for the own country blinds people to the legitimate needs and interests of other nations, then patriotism becomes a vice (White147). The aim of this investigation is to find out how temperature affects the speed at which the enzyme,Catalase, works best in Hydrogen Peroxide.I hope to achieve reliable results that will confirm my predictions. I predict that: · By increasing the temperature of the Hydrogen Peroxide, the Catalase will react faster. This is because the particles have more energy so they will move and react at a faster rate. · At about 40c, the Catalase will start to deteriorate because the substrate no longer fits the enzyme making the enzyme useless. · I predict that the enzyme will work at its best at 37c because that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know that with a rise of 10c the rate of reaction will be doubled in a single cell. This is because the particles are moving faster due to the increase of energy(rate of reactions). As soon as the temperature becomes too high, the enzyme will become denatured, meaning that the enzyme will no longer fit the substrate and at this point the rate of reaction slows down rapidly and eventually the enzyme becomes useless. I hope to find the temperature at which the enzyme performs best and the temperature at which the rate of reaction slows down showing the enzyme has become denatured.
