In this paper, Nyerere s views on education are examined with a view to determine the extent of their
relevance to contemporary theory of education in Kenya. This analysis is concerned with 3 aspects.
First, an exploration of possible theoretical contexts of his views on education is undertaken with a
view to obtaining a basis for an intelligible discussion. Second, an examination of education for self
reliance is undertaken. This is followed by an analysis of education for liberation as espoused by
Nyerere. This is followed by a delineation of salient views that can enrich contemporary education in
Kenya. Theoretical framework The liberal theory Liberalism envisions the ideal society to be one that
embraces a wide range of individual liberties. These include, personal dignity, free expression,
religious tolerance, right to own property, freedom of association, transparency of government,
limitations on government power, the rule of law, equality, free market economy and free trade
(Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/Liberalisms). It is incumbent upon government to uphold these
freedoms in order to guarantee stability and peace. In addition, liberalism tends to encourage
representative democratic governance. Here, the elected representatives are guided by the rule of law
under the overall guidance of the constitution. Enshrined in the constitution are

The Death Of A Mr. Eugene V.
Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I
was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower
class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element, I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I
am not free. yelled a Mr. Eugene V. Debs to the court before being sentence by the Judge. It is 1918,
the United States has entered the draining conflict of World War I, and on September 12th of that same
year a man named Eugene V. Debs is found culpable of ignoring the Sedition Act and sentenced to 10
years in prison and is baffled for eternity. Following his sentencing, the addresses the court and gives

For a man being sentenced to prison in a court of law, one may think it hard to endeavor and construct
legitimacy, yet he pulls it off and displays Ethos every through howdy speech by his insubordinate

A Mass Of Thousands Of People Walk Into The Capital City...
A mass of thousands of people walk into the capital city of Budapest. It is October 23, 1956, a day that
would forever be remembered by Hungarians as the day the Revolution began. This protest quickly
turned into a major rebellion against the Soviets and their policies. Although the Revolution ended in
failure, however, it left a mark on the Soviets, who would eventually lose control nearing the end of
the Cold War. Then, over 30 years after the Revolution, on October 23, 1989, Hungary was declared
as the Third Hungarian Republic. In Hungary today, October 23 is celebrated nationally as Republic
Day, to celebrate the two events that made Hungary what it is today. On October 23 in Hungary today,
there are many events to celebrate Republic Day. The raising of the flag in Kossuth Square initiates
the celebrations nationwide. A memorial ceremony is held with speeches regarding the events
celebrated. Most museums have free admission to see Hungary s history. The Parliament building is
open to the public, and the Grand Staircase, Cupola Hall, and Holy Crown are able to be seen inside.
These activities are held within Hungary, as it is their national holiday. Before standing as an
independent nation, Hungary was a dual monarchy with Austria. Austria Hungary was the empire that
declared war on Serbia, and the conflict soon grew into World War 1. During the war, the empire had
broken down into something very small. In 1920, the Treaty of Trianon officially declared Hungary s

Beautiful Music of the Middle Ages
Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul, it is one of the most
magnificent and delightful presents God has given us Martin Luther. Music was a part of life then and
it is a part of life today. Without music, life itself would be a mistake. Seeing the changes over the
years is a great way to follow the patterns and differences this way of communicating has shown us.
Some of the more popular music was the Gregorian Chant, Organum, Motet and Madrigal.
In the early Middle Ages around 590 ACE the Gregorian Chant was popularized by Pope Gregory the
Fourth. The Gregorian Chant was a form of monophonic tune of the Roman Catholic Church (Music
Through the Ages). Monophonic is a musical style employing a single melodic line without
accompaniment. This style was oral by tradition and only served as a memory aid for a singer who
already knew the melody (http://en.wikipedia.org). Memorizing is a difficult task, it is even harder to
memorize music that was taught to them orally. Gregorian melodies are traditionally written using
neumes, an early form of musical notation (http://www.britannica.com). These neumes later formed
the modern four and five line staff development. Being a monophonic tune the Gregorian Chant was
losing interest and a new style was born.
In the Musica Enchiriadis musical handbook , Organum consisted of two melodic lines moving
simultaneously note against note. Organum changed the way of music for the medieval people;

Whole-Number Place Value
1. One of the key things that I learned from Developing Whole Number Place Value Concepts is that
place value is an important concept for students to learn. This is so because students need to know the
meaning of a number, especially when they are older. For example, when students are in 4th grade,
they will need to know larger numbers, like 100,000. They will also need to know how to divide and
multiple with larger numbers. So if students do not know the place value of these larger numbers, then
they will not be able to understand important math concepts and operations. Thus, learning place value
is important because everyone needs to understand the meaning of a number in order to do basic tasks
and operations when they are older.

Access Control Research Paper
An access control example in my community is doors. Having a lock door, will cover access to your
home, which is one of the first steps in securing your home. A properly set up fence, will make it even
more difficult for someone to roam in your yard. If someone you do not know is inside your fence, it
can easily alert you that a potential problem is arriving. Shrubs are another factor in access control.
Shrubs can make it very difficult for someone to view inside your home. There are shrubs that can
grow up to 15 to 20 feet height. Having many shrubs in your yard can make access to your home feel
more of a challenge, which is how a lot of homes in my community are set up. Natural surveillance
example is windows. Windows not only protect you from the weather but it helps with ... Show more

areas separate from each other. Porches are cover areas for individuals. This can be in the back of
someone s home or in front. Porches helps with adding another element a criminal has deal with and a
home owner having another safety aspect part of his or her home. Every home in my community has a
front and back porch.
All of these measure are very effective in my community. Cops are not around my community 24/7 or
anybody else s community. These different elements and the examples I provided helps my
community run smoothly because of the different affect each example brings. Some CPTED strategies

The Fine Line Between Harlot And Handmaiden
The Fine Line Between Harlot and Handmaiden Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale is a
warning to the world that by classifying women by their fertility and stripping them of their rights, one
can easily create a terrifying dystopia where all fabrics of society suffer the erosive consequences of
female subjugation. Women have forever been classified by their fertility and by their class, which has
given us such terms as baron, matronly, harlot, fertile, the help, and surrogates. Margaret Atwood s

Margaret. 92) Even though all of these connections are illegal, and Offred is supposed to keep her

Persuasive Speech On Animals In Zoo
Albert Einstein once said: Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to
embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. Ladies and gentlemen, Today, I
stand before you to address the growing issue of animals being imprisoned. Put yourself in the shoes
of the animal; can you imagine being locked up in a cage, eating, sleeping and excreting in the same
place every day? Well, animals in zoos are forced to!
Can we really say that animals in zoos, enjoy being taken away from their parents and natural
habitats? The answer to that question is No! . Did you know that tigers and lions have nearly eighteen
thousand times less space in a zoo than they do in their natural habitat and polar bears ... Show more

In zoos, animals have no possible ways to defend themselves or escape from dangerous situations. In
many cases, animals in zoos have been poisoned, starved or even burned in fires! A recent example on
May 28, 2016 was where an animal was killed in the Cincinnati zoo was the shooting of the gorilla
Harambe . In this incident, an irresponsible parent was not looking after her child and the child
climbed into the enclosure. The gorilla was then shot in order to save the child. Another major incident
dates back to the Hurricane Katrina. Here, the employees were forced to leave as the power failed
which led to over 10,000 aquatic animals being killed.
Animals should be given the freedom they deserve. They should not be held captive in zoos and we
can help stop this insanity. If people stop buying tickets to look at imprisoned animals, zoos will be
forced to stop imprisoning and breeding wild animals. There are many better ways of studying an
animal, such as looking up about it online, or even watching an animal documentary which shows the
animal in its natural habitat, with its natural behavior. The animals need to be happy to live the life

Watches In The Military
Egyptian and Babylonian astronomers used the sundial as a primitive form of today s smart watch.
Train conductors have utilized pocket watches to maintain a tight and precise schedule due to their
accurate time keeping. Watches in the military have components such as tachometers, barometers, and
atomic timekeepers that aid in more than just timekeeping. Wall Street uses watches to coordinate
trades and exchanges in stock. Watches are depended upon all over the world without being thought of
as much. When a wristwatch is used every day continually its value doubles not only in sentimental
value, but the rarity of the timepiece increases.

You will meet many heroes in your lifetime and you probably can t tell by looking at them. A hero is
someone who had put themselves in a risky situation with the intent of helping others. Most of the
population believes that heroes have to wear a big red cape or fly to be a hero, but those aren t the only
heroes out there. Another criteria that people put on heros are that they had to be recognized in text
books to be heros. Heroes are everyday people who have sacrificed for others, they are shoved face
first into a dangerous scenario and try their hardest to help others, most of these times you only have
to be brave for 20 minutes, if they are trying to speak out against the system they don t get silenced by

There are several key factors that the police overlooked that could have caused this case to end sooner.
The first being that so many people died under his care. In my opinion if most of the individuals who
are seen in your practice end up dead I m not going to keep coming to you. Obviously, you re not a
good doctor. I know people that have been going to the same doctor for 20 years, especially older
people and these patients were all to have supposedly died of a heart attacks. (Gunn, 2010). In 1998 a

reinstated him into practice after he fought some mental health problems on the condition that he

pharmacies I ve been to there is a record of drugs being uses and who is prescribing them. They also
record how much is given and are routinely audited and checked to make sure that records are up to
date. If just one of the previously stated incidences would have been looked into this evidence could

and a look at medical records could have led to a break in this case. The medical records or lack

are some explanations that could have been given for some of these but the amount of deaths and

Assisted Suicide Research Paper
After researching assisted suicide I have more questions than when I started. The definition of assisted
suicide is very factual: suicide facilitated by another person, especially a physician, who organized the
logistics of the suicide, as by providing the necessary quantities of a poison (The definition of assisted
suicide 2016). After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an option one has to make
depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die rather than a factual process
one can follow. Assisted suicide is currently legal in five states: Oregon, Vermont, Washington,
California and Montana (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). Each state differs in the process
toward obtaining physician assisted suicide approval, but all follow the generic rule that one must
have the mental capability to communicate their own decisions regarding their terminal illness (How
to Access and Use Death with Dignity Laws 2016). I question how one can truly make such a decision
for themselves if they are in pain from their terminal illness. In California they have the rule that one
must submit two oral requests, each fifteen days apart, and a written request to the attending physician
(Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). I feel this is a great way of avoiding patients who may
be making this decision based off of impulsive drives and decisions. Other guidelines to being eligible
for assisted suicide includes that one must be eighteen

The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a law passed by President Andrew Jackson that provided the
funds for the removal of the Indian tribes found in South. These tribes were the Cherokee, Chickasaw,
Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Slave states, following the lead of Missouri who in the 1820s forced
its Indian population to leave, saw the opportunity to expand their industry in the fielding of cotton by
converting Indian soil into slave soil. That along with the finding of gold and simply the desire for
land in the Southeast was enough reason for them to begin rooting for the expulsion of the tribes. They
believed that because the tribes were uncivilized they have no right to the land and were not using it
properly.
Despite the fact that former president Thomas Jefferson believed that civilized tribes could be
integrated into the United States population, this law was still widely accepted among southern states.
It was also completely ignored that the tribes were already acting in a way that would be considered
civilized. The Cherokee had its own government, laws, and a constitution much like the United States.
In response to the law, the Cherokee went to Congress for help to protect their rights, which the
treaties they had with the federal government made certain. There was a case Cherokee Nation v.
Georgia in 1831, but the Chief Justice Marshall made the false claim that Indians were nomads and
had no need for their land. He also said that the Indians were like wards

Rene Descartes Ontological Argument
Cogito ergo sum ( I think, therefore, I am ) (Descartes, Miller, Miller, 1983). René Descartes was a
philosopher of the 17th century who made major contributions to the field. Everything from his
metaphysical arguments of existence of man to his proofs for the existence of God are still discussed
and debated today. In the field of religion, most famous is his Ontological proof for the existence of
God. In other words, proof that one can know God a priori, with no experience whatsoever. Following
his publication, a philosopher named Caterus raised key objections to his proof, which he later
responded to in an intriguing way. Descartes s reply to Caterus s critique of Descartes s Ontological
argument does not properly refute the objections ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, he is justifying that although the greatest thought may be inseparable from existing, it
does not prove that this being must exist. Backing this claim up, he creates this idea of an existent lion
. Caterus writes, This complex existent lion includes both lion and the mode existence; and incudes
them essentially, for if you take away either it will not be the same complex (Descartes, 2009, p.86).
In writing this, Caterus shows that although something may possess the mode existing , that mode
only applies if the object itself already exists. Likewise, one cannot prove the existence of God
without first showing that God already exists (Descartes, 2009, pp.86 7). Throughout Caterus s
critique, many strong objections are raised, and it is when Descartes attempts to respond that the
argument falls apart. Descartes fails to properly refute any objections raised by Caterus, or solidify is
case. To begin his response, Descartes (2009) begins by contrasting St. Thomas s argument and his
own. In this contrasting, he states that his argument is not subject to the criticisms St. Thomas s
argument is, due to the different wording used (p.87). I believe, however, that Caterus was not
attempting to directly say the arguments were identical. Caterus even acknowledges the difference in
wording. The object Caterus, through St. Thomas, raised is that it does not follow solely from the
properties of which God has, that

The Great War, also known as World War One was between July 28th, 1914 and November 11th,

World War One consisted of Trench warfare. Trench warfare was warfare which the armies attack,

Due to secret alliance created between nations, it is inevitable that a disagreement between two
nations will lead to the involvement of many nations, who already secretly agreed to help each other.
This is why alliances is a cause of World War One. Two major alliances before WW1 was the Triple
Alliance and the Triple Entente which consisted of Russia, France and Great Britain. The Triple
Entente was created to counter the Triple Alliance, which consisted of Germany, Austria Hungary and
Italy. In the beginning of the war, the Triple Alliance will be known as the Central Powers not
including Italy because Italy finds in their best interest to wait and see how the war unfold and go to
the winning side to allow them to grow as a nation. The Central Powers will sooner or later consist of

Theme Of Perseverance In October Sky
It s not that I m so smart, it s just that I stay with problems longer, by Albert Einstein. By persevering
and not giving up, success can be reached. Perseverance is one of the themes in the novel October Sky
. This book revealed the life of a young boy, Homer Hickam Jr., also called Sonny, who fought for his
dream of building rockets against all odds amongst a small mining town. As time elapsed in the novel,
Sonny matured and learned many lessons about rocketry and life, such as pursuing a dream, the
influence of an important person, personal ambition versus loyalty to someone else... Amongst all the
important themes in the novel, persevering against all odds is the most important one. The Rocket
Boys faced countless failure and errors during their rocket building. With almost no support from the
rest of the town, the Rocket Boys had barely any resource when they started. Living in a town full of
miners, building rockets received criticism and mocking from townspeople and even his family. ...

Congressional Term Limits
Congressional terms have no limits. Controversy exists between those who think the terms should be
limited and those who believe that terms should remain unlimited. The group that wants to limit the
terms argues that the change will promote fresh ideas and reduce the possibility of decisions being
made for self interest. Those who oppose term limits believe that we would sacrifice both the stability
and experience held by veteran politicians. They also point out that our election process allows the
voter to limit terms, at their discretion. While experience and stability are important considerations,
congressional terms should be limited to a maximum of two. Change is difficult and requires strong
support from the voters to start the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, statistics show that currently there is a ninety four percent re election rate in the House and
eighty three percent in the Senate. Because of name recognition and the advantage of money, it can be
easy to stay in office. Representative John Dingell, Jr. of Michigan is an example of a long serving
politician. He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in the House of
Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has the experience.
However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in his career. More
than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that we witnessed prior to
the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no effective campaign
competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate competition, there are not
a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public. Furthermore, it is almost impossible
for the average citizen to try to campaign against current members of Congress. 3 Finally, the
argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the Constitution currently reads. However,
with the appropriate congressional and voter approval percentages, the term limits for these
representatives could become law.

When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used on
a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car is
one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones you
can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so that the

When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will

of what she stated in not only this quote but also throughout the play. This quote reveals that Anne

Friendship By William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
Friendship is an idea which spans all cultures, but is expressed differently across cultural boundaries.
In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the
plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close
and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often
with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford )
Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Antonio and Bassanio
are the best of friends. Although both Antonio and Bassanio s characters possess different motivations
for their actions, it is their strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it can be seen that Bassanio does feel guilt over his actions. To you, Antonio, I owe the
most, in money and in love (I, I, 177 178). Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a
lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has
provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This
in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his
money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play,
Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it
appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity
rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio
goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan.
Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up
the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In
this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use
to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s
flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he

Sometimes the best things in life come with a warning sign or in my case a will bite sign. When i

of events. It all commenced the first week volunteer training was over, i was excited and eager to have
been promoted. I was now in charge of all incoming dogs and that meant i was allowed to feed, walk
and interact with all dogs coming into the shelter. During my shift ten dogs had arrived and been
placed on the floor. It was now time for me to do my part. I gathered up my clipboard and supplies and
headed out, as i skimmed through the pictures of all the new dogs i couldn t help but be drawn to the
picture of a beautiful labrador with the most sorrowful eyes. I had a feeling of worry that took over me
and i scurried over to her gate. Much to my surprise there were no volunteers in her cage which was
bizarre because volunteers loved meeting and playing with the new dogs. She was in the corner of her
cage trembling with her head hanging low,i felt my heart break into a million pieces. I reached over to
open her gate when a loud anxious voice behind me said i wouldn t do that if i were you, did you read

Case Study Of Heinz
BRAND HEINZ Heinz
Introduction:
Till a few years back the fast food market in INDIA was not a very prominent industry mostly because
there were less of fast food joints and disposable incomes. But with the growth of both these elements
the fast food market in India received a boost. Fast food and ketchup are directly proportional to one
another. The sweet and tangy taste provided by ketchup adds to the entire experience of a delicious or
finger licking meal. Thus the rise in the demand for fast food has resulted in the rise in the demand for
ketchup in INDIA. According to a recent survey, it is estimated that Indians spend about Rs.4,449
crore a year in fast food centres.

Heinz gave tough competition to Cermica (1st position) but due to lack of tanginess and little sweeter

Verdict on Positioning:
After studying all the above aspects I found Positioning of Heinz Ketchup in India is CORRECT .
Earlier, their positioning of product was not right and they were not concentrating on their POP s and
POD as their value proposition was Redder Thicker and Tastier which is very common in today s
ketchup market.
Heinz Ketchup Brand is getting up in market after its new campaign Grown Not Made .
Heinz has used its retro style of packaging which makes their product easily identifiable on the

Close to Pelagia s heart, he is kind towards Psipsina and Lemoni. If Psipsina sat on a piece of the
captain s music, he would go away and fetch another sheet rather than disturb her. Not only is this an
example of Corelli s basic kind nature, but also of his ability to become part of the family in
Cephallonia and relax into the Greek lifestyle.
Corelli is also able to relate to all ages as he demonstrates through his kindness towards Lemoni. He
plays with the child and is untiring in his attentions as she drags him out to see any piece of rusty

Orthodontic Research
The first idea of orthodontics has come when finger pressure manifested tooth movement. With the
development of this branch of dentistry, there is constant research to create appliances which can
move teeth ideally
This has led clinicians trying to specify many appliances able to move the teeth, most of them include
wires. Wires in many shapes, sizes, and materials (metallic alloys) are typically part of the

Wires, and auxiliaries fabricated from wire (helical closed coiled and open coiled, uprighting, and
rotating springs) can make dental displacements through delivering force or simply through carry

How Did The French Revolution Change The World System
Wallerstein (1989) argues that the French Revolution was an impactful historical event that
ideologically changed the world system and supports this claim by identifying three significant
cultural institutions the movements, ideologies, and the social sciences. As quoted:
All in all, it added up to a political whirlwind of a kind that had never been known before in the
modern world. (pg 42)
For Wallerstein, the ultimate culmination of the French Revolution was that it served as a catalyst in
upbringing a capitalist world economy. The argument raises the significant effects of the French
Revolution however; to broadly ascribe the historical establishment of a world system towards the
event is implausible to an extent as the cultural factors and effect of social sciences were of greater
consequence in importantly shaping the history of the world system.
According to Wallerstein, the world system refers to a social system of a state ... Show more content

The Haitian revolution had recurring food riots and peasant rebellions for centuries, which was a
contributing factor towards the impetus of their demonstrations. Hence, the cataclysmic effect of the
political development in St. Domingue was due to the initiative by the people of the lower classes who
were seeking change and demanded autonomy themselves. The French Revolution did not inspire the
bourgeois for a capitalist world economy and instead evoked a sense of threat. Instead, the actions of
the masses became the change in the capitalist world system. To argue that the French Revolution
instituted cultural change in this context is implausible as the political development in acquisition of
state power was because of the anti systemic insurgents and relentless uprisings in the past, which was
not immediate but a long term social

Cost Benefit Analysis Of Spotsylvania County Public Schools
Cost Benefit Analysis In recent years, the homeschooled population in Spotsylvania County Public
Schools (SCPS) has continued to grow. Due to state regulations, the governing body of the division,
the Spotsylvania County School Board (SCSB) developed a policy to address the procedures and
protocols necessary to guide homeschooling options in the division: Policy LBD (2015) (See
Appendix A). According to L. Binion, Guidance Director for SCPS, currently the division has 1,036
registered and 31 pending homeschooled students in grades K 12 (personal communication,
November 13, 2015). Further, although the division has generally averaged 3 4 additional requests
weekly, requests have skyrocketed to 1 2 per day for the past several weeks. The spike is likely
connected to two recent negative events associated with the division a thwarted mass shooting plan,
and a case of severe hazing at a high school, (L. Binion, personal communication, November 19,
2015). There are financial ramifications for the school division each time a student is opt ed out of the
public school system. State funding is determined by Average Daily Membership (ADM), which
equates to $5,418 per student for Fiscal Year 2015 (VEA, 2014). Thus, the current cost of registered
homeschooled students in SCPS is a staggering $5,613,048. Consequently, examining ways in which
the division can address the needs of the homeschooled population while recapturing lost funds is
imperative. SCPS is currently investigating

Integrity In Cyrano De Bergerac
Integrity is the quality of being honorable; or having morals. In other words, having a code of ethics.
In Edmond Rostand s Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano is supposed to be the tragic hero; the protagonist.
This really fits his situation in the story because he truly tries to do the right thing and honor his friend
but makes one decision he will regret for the rest of his life. In the book, Cyrano falls in love with
Roxane, who falls in love with Christian. This love triangle will alter all of them in ways they don t
expect. At the end of the story, he dies without having a true relationship with Roxane; yet, he claims
that he still dies with his integrity. I believe that Cyrano did not die with integrity, because he lied to
Christian and Roxane even on his deathbed. While Christian and Cyrano were fighting for their lives
in battle, Cyrano continued to send letters to Roxane, because he promised to make sure Christian
would. By now, it is obvious to the readers that Cyrano is in love with Roxane, but not to Christian.
He is very oblivious to the whole situation but eventually figures it all out. It should ... Show more

At first it was just little lies, that he told others to protect his appearance. His biggest lie was letting
Roxane believe Christian was the one writing her letters, when it was Cyrano the whole time. Even
though he didn t directly tell a lie, by letting it happen and letting Roxane fall in love with the wrong
person, was very untruthful and inconsiderate. Never once, did he even seriously consider that she
might love him for his personality and that certain facial features had nothing to do with it. He let her
believe this for 15 years, until the truth finally came out. By then, it was too late because he was
dying. Cyrano let Roxane believe the man she loved was dead, but as a matter of fact, the beautiful
soul she fell in love with was

In this paper, Nyerere s views on education are examined with a view to determine the extent of their relevance to contemporary theory of education in Kenya. This analysis is concerned with 3 aspects. It is October 23, 1956, a day that would forever be remembered by Hungarians as the day the Revolution began. This protest quickly turned into a major rebellion against the Soviets and their policies. Although the Revolution ended in failure, however, it left a mark on the Soviets, who would eventually lose control nearing the end of the Cold War. Then, over 30 years after the Revolution, on October 23, 1989, Hungary was declared as the Third Hungarian Republic. Beautiful Music of the Middle Ages Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul, it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us Martin Luther. Music was a part of life then and it is a part of life today. Without music, life itself would be a mistake. Seeing the changes over the years is a great way to follow the patterns and differences this way of communicating has shown us. Some of the more popular music was the Gregorian Chant, Organum, Motet and Madrigal. In the early Middle Ages around 590 ACE the Gregorian Chant was popularized by Pope Gregory the Fourth. The Gregorian Chant was a form of monophonic tune of the Roman Catholic Church (Music Through the Ages). Monophonic is a musical style employing a single melodic line without accompaniment. This style was oral by tradition and only served as a memory aid for a singer who already knew the melody (http://en.wikipedia.org). Memorizing is a difficult task, it is even harder to memorize music that was taught to them orally. Gregorian melodies are traditionally written using neumes, an early form of musical notation (http://www.britannica.com). These neumes later formed the modern four and five line staff development. Being a monophonic tune the Gregorian Chant was losing interest and a new style was born. In the Musica Enchiriadis musical handbook , Organum consisted of two melodic lines moving simultaneously note against note. Organum changed the way of music for the medieval people; ... • 7. Whole-Number Place Value 1. One of the key things that I learned from Developing Whole Number Place Value Concepts is that place value is an important concept for students to learn. This is so because students need to know the meaning of a number, especially when they are older. For example, when students are in 4th grade, they will need to know larger numbers, like 100,000. They will also need to know how to divide and multiple with larger numbers. So if students do not know the place value of these larger numbers, then they will not be able to understand important math concepts and operations. Thus, learning place value is important because everyone needs to understand the meaning of a number in order to do basic tasks and operations when they are older. 2. Another ... After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an option one has to make depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die rather than a factual process one can follow. These tribes were the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Slave states, following the lead of Missouri who in the 1820s forced its Indian population to leave, saw the opportunity to expand their industry in the fielding of cotton by converting Indian soil into slave soil. That along with the finding of gold and simply the desire for land in the Southeast was enough reason for them to begin rooting for the expulsion of the tribes. They believed that because the tribes were uncivilized they have no right to the land and were not using it properly. Despite the fact that former president Thomas Jefferson believed that civilized tribes could be integrated into the United States population, this law was still widely accepted among southern states. It was also completely ignored that the tribes were already acting in a way that would be considered civilized. In writing this, Caterus shows that although something may possess the mode existing , that mode only applies if the object itself already exists. Likewise, one cannot prove the existence of God without first showing that God already exists (Descartes, 2009, pp.86 7). He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in the House of Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has the experience. However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in his career. More than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that we witnessed prior to the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no effective campaign competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate competition, there are not a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public. Furthermore, it is almost impossible for the average citizen to try to campaign against current members of Congress. 3 Finally, the argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the Constitution currently reads. However, with the appropriate congressional and voter approval percentages, the term limits for these representatives could become law. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford ) Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play, Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan. Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice.
