Advantages Of Objective Motion Devices
Introduction
Continue passive motion is the passive motion performed by a mechanical device that move a joint
slowly and continually through a controlled of range of motion (Carolyn Kisner, 2012). Continue
passive motion device exist in the market for nearly every joint in the body such as shoulder
continue passive motion machine, knee continue passive motion machine, elbow continue passive
motion machine and ankle continue passive motion machine. Continue passive motion device
allow the joint to move for hours in time. Continue passive motion device make the joint to flex or
extent in a preset range of motion and time of repetition. The movement produce by the device is
slow and controlled and thus the patient does not actively exert force on the muscle to produce
movement. Continue passive motion is good in healing effect on injured or disease joint ... Show

Duration for applying continue passive motion is usually less than one week or when the certain
desire range is reached. Continue passive motion device can be used in home since it is portable.
Physiotherapist can instruct the caregiver or family member the proper use of the device since it is
benefit to the patient.
7.Continue passive motion device is adjustable, easy control, versatile and portable. There are
some devices which allow the individual to wear for up to 8 hours since it is operate by using the
rechargeable battery.
Disadvantage of the continue passive motion
1.Continue passive motion brings the detrimental effect. Using continue passive motion will cause
the need for greater analgesia intervention and increased postoperative blood drainage.
2.Cost of using the continue passive motion machine, patient compliance, utilization and
supervision of the equipment by trained personnel, length of hospital stay, speed of recovery and
determination of appropriate patient population become issues to consider whether or not to utilize
the continue passive motion device (Carolyn Kisner,

The Challenge Between Civilization and Savagery in Lord...
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, symbolism and allegories were used to show
how the children who are stranded on an island have a huge struggle with civilization and savagery.
Ralph, Piggy, Jack, and Simon are the ones in the novel that struggle with this the most.
Golding wrote this story because he was horrified of Stalinism in Russia. His experience in World
War II effected his view on humanity and evils that are capable of occurring. Ralph, Piggy, and
Simon are manifested with the civilizing instinct , while Jack, Roger, and the other hunters have the
savage instinct. Golding also dealt with human nature. Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that man is
good, but Golding controverts his philosophy. Golding believes ... Show more content on

Through out the book, Ralph struggles with his civilization and savagery. An example is when
he joins Jack and his tribe of what they thought was the Beast . Over a period of time, Ralph
beings to lose the way that he thinks. You can see signs of this when he has a hard time
developing an agenda for his meetings with the boys. He also beings to lose his morals and self
control. Ralph becomes savage after everyone has joined Jacks new tribe. He has always been
savage because everyone has savagery in them. He truly shows his savage side when he murdered
Simon. It was a night on the beach while everyone is around a fire. The boys start to chant for the
beast to come out. Everyone is in the moment and something from the woods comes out onto the
beach. A thing was crawling out of the forest (Golding152). They start attacking what they think is
the beast . Once they stop Ralph then realizes that they have killed Simon. The next morning, Ralph
is the only person to acknowledge that they murdered someone the night before. This is the only
time that Ralph becomes savage. He knows what he has just done was an awful thing, but at the
same time it gave him an adrenaline rush. He was excited about what he did. In the end, Ralph
gained an understanding of mans human nature character, something that he cant acquire.
Under the authority of Ralph, second in line was a kid named Piggy. Piggy is a symbol of science,
intellectuality, and the rational world.

Generational Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet is a play that despite age, can deliver themes that consistently transcend generational
differences, even when those differences span hundreds of years. It is the strength of these themes
in Hamlet that has given the play such overwhelming cultural gravitas that allows it to remain
relevant to this day. As such, it is a highly appropriate play for high schoolstudents to study. The
core messages of generational conflict, unfolding to one s true self, and morality are struggles faced
by both Hamlet, and high school students. Consequently, this can motivate students in their studies
when they discover a character, that despite the difference in time, is so easily relatable. When
students recognize similarities between Hamlet and themselves, such as a distaste for the tedious
old fools (2.2.219) with their plentiful lack of wit (2.2.199), it creates a connection between the
students and this seemingly ancient piece of literature. A connection, that hopefully after the high
school level, can be nurtured into a passion for literature. A connection that allows for greater
insight and analysis at this current level. A connection, that if students are discouraged from
making now, they are unlikely to make later in their lives, as once they grow older the heyday in
the blood is tame. (3.4.69) and they will no longer be able to connect with the younger characters
such as Hamlet, or the young Fortinbras, / Of unimproved mettle hot and full (1.1.95 96).

Japanese Internment Camps During Ww2
During WW2 many efforts were performed to make the Japanese American internees and
American POWs in Japan feel invisible. There was more than 140,000 prisoners of war, and
about 120,000 Japanese that were put in internment camps, during WW2. Although, they were
made to feel invisible, each group found a way to resist the efforts. The POW s were made to feel
invisible by they had no contact home, they were made to feel that they lost their dignity, and they
were beaten and starved. The Japanese put in internment camps were innocent people that were
made to feel invisible by they had to leave their houses, other belongings, and they were

A Proposal to Stop the Poaching of the Siberian Tiger
One of the world s most beautiful creatures, the Siberian tiger, has been roaming earth for many
years. The Siberian tiger subspecies has been subjected to many obstacles, which make it very
difficult for it to survive. Their main threat is not lack of food, but man, one of God s most fierce
and cruel species. Because of man the tiger population has reduced to approximately 400 in the
wild, and restricted their remaining habitat to the Russian Far East (Field Projects). Man has done
many things to destroy the Russian Siberian tiger. They have cut down forests and moved in on the
tiger s territory, causing them to flee and become fragmented throughout Siberia making it hard for

The Amba organization says, their rangers know the environmental legislation, and are trained in
the use of firearms and can handle criminals (Field Projects). Amba rangers try to stop poaching
by searching vehicles on secluded forest roads and looking for firearms, animals, or any other
item that may be suspicious. This project of anti poaching teams has proven to be successful, but it
only stops some of the poachers. Until they stop the main cause of poaching, which is trade, the
killing will still go on (Field Projects).
Poachers know they will always make money on tiger derivatives, because of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade
monitoring program of WWF, are trying to find ways to discourage the use of tiger parts for
medicinal purposes and encourage the use of effective substitutes. TRAFFIC has significantly
extended its operation in Asia and Russia. According to researchers, Russia has become the biggest
supplier of Traditional Chinese Medicine trade and exports (Field Projects). TRAFFIC
investigations have led to numerous seizures such as, tiger bones and skins, the arrest of an
important smuggling gang, and the uncovering of illicit trade routes between India, Nepal, Bhutan,
and East Asia (Field Reports). WWF is also campaigning for strengthened national legislation to
ban imports and sales of these medicines in

Beloved Essay
Oftentimes, one can get too caught up in familial matters or personal issues, and as a result,
something as simple as providing another with love and value can be long forgotten. Both
novels take place in Ohio during late 1980 s to the early 1930 s. In Beloved, the protagonist
Sethe continuously mentions how she wishes her mother would have put more effort into their
relationship.. Most days, Sethe would only see her mother for one or two hours. Her mother
was always busy working in the hot and musty rice field. Sethe felt like her mother never really
loved her and did not care much for her well being either. Sethe expresses her sadness: Sunday s
she slept like a stick. She must of nursed me two or three weeks that s the way the others did....

This quote shows that Sethe never had the opportunity to feel her mother s compassion or
affection, more commonly known as a mother s love . This love is often personified in a mother
who will lay down her life for her child. It is known as a selfless sacrifice. Sethe s mother was
always working and never had time to spend with her, let alone time to nurse her. One could say
Sethe s relationship with her mother was non existent, Sethe constantly reminds herself how she
felt abandoned when she was younger. She had to be nursed by Nan, a women who s job was to
breastfeed children of the whites as well as other fellow slaves. Nan had to nurse white babies
and me too because Ma am was in the rice. The little white babies got it first and I got what was
left. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own (Morrison, Beloved, 200). Put differently,
Sethe did not have the opportunity to create a special mother daughter bond that most mothers
create with their child, to ensure the child s protection and enrich their development. Therefore she
was not given a shot to be a real daughter to anyone, she had no support or love from the only
family she had, which was her

Campus Tours
I have had a total of 4 university tours. The university that I liked was GCU and NAU. I loved
the NAU campus, it was so beautiful. I really liked how the camps looked after they remodeled
mostly all the buildings. It just made the place look at more modern and I liked how that looks.
Another reason why liked NAU was because the weather up north is nice and cool. The
appearance of the school would have to be my favorite part of the NAU tour. During the tour we
walked around the whole campus and were told where the important places were. There was very
interesting, the walk in sky dome. The walk in sky dome is a public place open to everyone,
I also visited GCU and I went on tour to see their medical program. I got to see cadavers that
students use to study. The students would show us parts of the bodies and would tell us what a
specific part of the body does. I also liked the campus too, but the 2 times I went to visit I went

The Importance Of The Technicolor Process In The Animated...
The animated films of the 1930s and 1940s definitely took advantage of the new Technicolor
process. For Disney in particular, it was the only colour process that he felt worked for his films
(Telotte 48). Especially since the idea of animated films as feature films was relatively new at the
time, there was a necessity for the differentiation of Disney s films to live action films so that
animated films could be taken seriously. Disney used Technicolorto do just that (Telotte 48).
Another, arguably more important reason for the use of colour in the animated films was the still
developing Disney illusion of life aesthetic (Telotte 48). The colours of the films were used to help
portray a natural looking world, one that would be believable to the viewer despite being animation.
Higgins discusses that the preferred Disney aesthetic was that artists favored pastels and saved
strongly saturated hues for accents. Backgrounds were kept desaturated and cool to assure that the
main characters would have chromatic prominence [...] Disney artists were adept at coordinating
colorand drama, ( Order and Plenitude 299). Even though they preferred to keep it natural, the
animators were able to experiment with Technicolour more than the colour directors of live action
films were. As discussed by Francine Stock, ...colour in both setting and lighting could accentuate
mood or character without aping reality, (83 4). An example of one of these films that Disney was

The Origin Of The Land
Enticingly, the Spanish colonists came to this land with a passionate goal to develop the land
and extract its natural resources for their profit. To this day, the Spanish s action on this land has
brought prosperity and has propagated California to be the leading roles in the innovation of new
technologies and the production of movies. Despite of having this reputation, people seldom
discuss on the origin of the land. When the Spanish came, the Indian are the inhabitants of the
land; ruling the land and surviving with all the natural resource. As history is depicted by the
victor, the fate of the right owner of the land has always been untold. Their once peaceful time
had ceased to continue as the Spanish colonized and stole the land from the Indian. Trickeries and
militaries were used by the colonists to exploit the land for their benefits. The Indian population
begin to decline as the newcomers were [gobbling] up native foods and undermined the free or
gentile tribes efforts to remain economically independent and the outbreak epidemic of European
diseases had declined 60% of the population of mission Indians (Castillo). To not disremember the
suffering of their people, poems like Indian Cartographyby Deborah Miranda and Itch Like Crazy:
Resistance by Wendy Rose are composed to capture their heart breaking moments and to disclose
their suffering to the world, but both poems have a different goals: Indian Cartography emphasizes

Catheter Associated Bloodstream Infection Essay
Catheter associated bloodstream infection (CRBSI) occurring in the neonatal intensive care unit
(NICU) are frequent, complication related to it are potentially fatal and costly (Kim Sandra,

approximately twenty five thousand dollars per case, and between 500 to 4,000 patient die due to

The Black Art Movement And The Black Arts Movement
The Black Aesthetic is a form of cultural expression that solidified itself during the Black Arts
Movement that was meant to exemplify black pride and reformation, culture, and community.
Many works that arose out of the Black Arts Movement depicted the role and responsibilities of
the black artist. Ralph Ellison claimed in his essay, The World and the Jug that he did not want
to be seen as a Negro artist but rather just an artist. This was understandable because he wanted
to be known for his talent rather than as a figurehead for his people but since then, there has
been a lot of significant historical and cultural development to this argument. After The World
and the Jug was released in 1964, we had the death of Malcolm X in 1965 which was the catalyst
for the Black Arts Movement to truly begin. Black artists became very insistent upon invoking
change through their work and expressing their blackness unapologetically and it began to show.
There was a change in mindset where these newer artists wrote about their blackness and
instances occurring in black communities simply because it was a defining part of who they
were, especially as women were given a voice in the movement and were able to incorporate a
new viewpoint despite the evident hyper masculinity. Yes, they were artists, but they were black
artists. Two poems that specifically exemplify this are Poem about My Rights and Poem about
Police Violence by June Jordan. These poems are able to depict black

Informational Constraints
1. Chapter eight describes three broader goals of one s audience in addition to those discussed
earlier in the textbook. One of these is security. Another is professional growth. As the textbook
notes, people want to develop and grow on the job...they want to learn more skills and assume new
duties...and they want to work for an organization that is developing and growing (Markel, 2012).
2. Constraints within technical writing are things such as the amount of information that can be
gathered for a paper, the required length and format, the due date, etc. (Markel, 2012), that impact
the writing process. These often help a writer compose a document however they also can be a

A commonsense argument is one that appeals to a person s understanding and experience of how
the world works. The textbook notes, if your audience s commonsense arguments match yours,
your argument is likely to be persuasive. Often, people can act in mysterious ways, and this is an
effective way to present an argument. Like the University of Maryland s University College notes
on their website, Clear thinking requires that you state your claim and support it with concrete,
specific facts. This approach appeals to our common sense... ( Writing Arguments, 2011). 7. One
type of argument is one that argues against the writer themselves, instead of against the writer s
argument. This is known as a ad hominem argument, or an argument against the speaker (Markel,
2012) according to the textbook. Ad hominem arguments are useful in convincing someone to do
something or of a side of something because of a characteristic they possess. These arguments are
logical fallacies that are colloquially known as mistakes in reasoning ( What is..., n.d.) that are often
not mistakes that can help writers and speakers win persuasive

What Is The Irony Of The Movie Still Alice
Since I am a big fan of Julianne Moore, I decided to watch the film Still Alice. It was such a
touching real to life story with an excellent cast. This movie portrayed accurately so many aspects

In this story, it shows that Alzheimer s disease does not discriminate. It doesn t matter your
intelligence, economic status, or overall health. Anyone is susceptible to this cruel disease. Alice

It has been shown that one of the strongest effects of music on the brain is in the area of memory.
A tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s
memory as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and
neurons, which are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both
of these criteria s, proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual
ability.
Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and
pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able
to concentrate more easily.
The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music,
their intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect
on young children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways
are easily influenced.
The music composed by Mozart has a 60 beat per minute pattern that is repetitive throughout his
pieces. This pattern activates the right and left hemispheres of the brain and it strengthens the
connections between the neurons that connect the two halves. Strengthening of the neural
connections leads to more efficient information processing because the brain must concentrate on
comprehending multiple stimuli and it therefore

Ruakura has been recognised as a long term growth cell for growing populations through
employment, industrial and lifestyle opportunities within Hamilton City (O Dwyer 2016). It is
situated within what is described as the Golden Triangle , between Auckland, Hamilton and
Tauranga, therefore is seen as an ideal location for growth hub and portfacilities, due to the access
between ports of Auckland and Tauranga (Tainui Group Holdings 2016). This area is located within
the urban rural fringe, across 822 hectare (refer to Figure 1). Due to this location, urban
development is prohibited within the area, according to the operative district plan rules. This

This symbol is taught in gestural, graphic, and vocal mode. The modality sampling has many
advantages, one of the most important being that it provides important intervention resources.
The main purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of graphic and gestural modes of
communication with a toddler with Angelman syndrome (Martin, Reichle, Dimian, Chen, 2013).
The participant was Adam, a 21 month old male with Angelman syndrome. Before the study started,
Adam was assessed in communication, cognition, and fine and gross motor skills. Adam did not
engage in vocal imitation or turn taking. His mother reported that Adam would sometimes vocalize
to get her attention, he would also protest, request, and express excitement. Adam s fine motor
skills were delayed, but he had adequate movements to produce gestures for the study.
Before the sessions started, the three researchers went through a role play training. This was
done to increase reliability and interobserver agreement between the researchers. The 44 sessions
occurred at the participant s house or at his day care center. The first session was a baseline

Businesses that have few powerful buyers are not often able to dictate the terms and conditions of
a business. However in Netflix s scenario, there are many powerful buyers which enforces the
company s terms. The buyers are so powerful that the Netflix CEO had to respond to the world
with a written apology. The New Market entrants include Amazon Prime, HBO Go, Hulu Plus,
and Vudu. These companies were attracted to the Internet streaming entertainment as being a
profitable industry. However, Netflix maintains its land by its originality i.e. being the first large
scale operation of its kind. Netflix also holds the most content making survival for the future
companies very difficult. Supplier power is a measure of how easy it is for a company to raise
prices. As far as supplier power goes, Netflix has a good brand reputation, geographical coverage,
and high quality product and service with their customers than the competitors. In terms of
substitute products, Netflix has a high quality product that was developed as a result of high level
technology compared to the competition. Strong substitute products that exist in the market will
increase the likelihood that customers would switch to alternatives if prices rise. The impact of
substitutes will reduce the power of suppliers and the market attractiveness.
Among all else, Netflix continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the online streaming industry
compared to its competitors. Netflix s

Myocardial Ischemia Research Paper
Many important physiological processes are directly affected by the intracellular and extracellular
pH values. One area of clinical importance is myocardial ischemia; when blood flow to the heart is
reduced, preventing it from receiving enough oxygen. As a result of the myocardial ischemia,
extracellular K+ is accumulated and ventricular arrhythmias are produced. The abnormal heart
rhythm typically accompanies myocardial ischemia in humans and plays a role in the high
mortality rate associated with myocardial infarction. The link between cellular K+, tissue acidosis,
and lactate transport in ischemic ventricular myocardium is not completely understood. The main
goal of the experiment is to draw simultaneous measurements of the ionic species... Show more

The electrodes were applied in measurements of extracellular pH during short term regional
ischemia in the swine heart and no flow ischemia in the isolated rabbit papillary muscle. Results
showed very low sensitivities for species such as Na+, K+, Li+, NH4+, Ca2+, Mg2+, dissolved
oxygen, ascorbate, lactate, and urate. The studies on selectivity determined that none of the tested
cations had an adverse effect on the potential response at the physiological pH level of 7. Results
of the reproducibility of the electrodes also suggested that AEIROF based pH electrodes can be
used for pH measurements when an accuracy of В±0.02 is sufficient enough. Data obtained from
the execution of the experiment (which is described in depth in the actual publication) indicates
that the pH electrodes and the excellent pH response by AEIROF make them very helpful in
cardiovascular investigations. For future experiments, materials such as stainless steel and graphite
are being tested as alternative substrates for the AEIROF to provide greater flexibility in pH

Hip Hop Politics, Class Unity And The Internet
In this essay, the influence of hip hop politics, class unity and the internet will be explored to
discover how the consumer became an active producer of culture. In the early days of hip hop,
particularly from its mainstream origins in the 70 s (Dimitriadis 2009) up until the 90 s, the
underground scene rarely floated into the mainstream. Despite a good portion of the
underground consisting of consumers, to achieve mainstream success one would need the right
connections and musical equipment. Before these tools became affordable and accessible, the
consumer wasn t integrated as an active producer of culture. Thus the average consumer wasn t
capable of making major waves in the industry. In some respect, the mainstream producer carried
a sense of prestige because there were only a few who garnered attention in the mainstream such
as DJ Premier and Eric B and Rakim (Tom Terrell, 1998). During the early origins of hip hop, as
Josh Kun describes, hip hop was mainly a facet of African American culture. As a result, many
consumers from other backgrounds weren t majorly included in developing the hip hop culture.
This, however, changed when icons such as Run DMC and Aerosmith broadened the scope of hip
hop and allowed more consumers to play an active role in producing the culture. The popularity of
the internet rose in the early 2000 s and it allowed the consumer to actively shape the culture. The
internet allowed the consumer to create their own sounds and message and deliver it

Targeted therapy, which first became available in the late 1990s, has had a significant impact on the
treatment of cancer. Currently, because of advancement in the field of technology, various types of
therapies are discovered to treat cancer. In this essay, targeted therapy is defined as a therapy in

bullet . This was the first targeted therapy drug used to treat cancer. It was invented in the late
1990 s, to treat chronic myeloid leukemia and gastrointestinal stromal growth . Imatinib is
tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Tyrosine kinase is a protein that cells use to signal to each other to
grow (Iqbal and Iqbal, 2014, p.1). It works by preventing a tyrosine kinase enzyme and therefore
inhibits growth factor induced receptor phosphorylation and blocks the PDGF/PDGFR and P13
k/Akt pathway (Kheradmand, et.al.2016, p.83). According to Richardson (2010, p.679), the
drug Velcade was also known as Bortezomib is useful in the treatment of multiple myelomas. The
main goal of this drug is to lower the tumor growth significantly. The American cancer society
(2013, para.20) studies show Bortezomib is a proteasome inhibitor . It works by blocking or
slowing down the action of proteosome is to break down protein in both healthy and cancerous
cells. When proteosome activity is blocked, proteins in the cells accumulate. This accumulation
may cause cells to stop growing and multiplying, and cause them to die and Sutent (Sunitinib) is
a drug used to treat metastatic renal cell carcinoma. It is currently approved as a second line
treatment of MRCC. Sunitinib inhibits the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor and stops
the growth of tumors (Kolesar, et.al. 2008, pp.123 131). It is considered as a multi targeted
kinase inhibitor because it is a type of VEGF inhibitor, an angiogenesis inhibitor, and it blocks an
enzyme called tyrosine kinase. By doing all of this, it slows cancer growth and keeps tumors from
making their own blood vessels to help them grow and spread (American

Gender Bias In The Workplace
Sexism women still face gender bias in the workplace. The stereotype e.g. women more likely to
take a housekeeping job, secretarial tasks or even be look at taking notes at a college meeting.
Ageism it s been known that because of a person age, he/she been discriminated against for job
advancement. Race refers to the practice of treating people differently because of the race. I have
personally heard on my past job that the manager is looking to hire a Caucasian person, yes this
still exists in toady time. Discrimination will always be a around it will take a miracle for this to
come to an end not only within the workplace.
Problems
The problem with feminist theory is gender free morality may be impossible. In today era, many
people don t agree that women should have equal pay as men within the work place. Even though
laws have been passed to equal pay, however when it comes to equal pay a lot of company still don
t comply with this ruling.
Model
The feminist model is described as conflict resolution. Feminist model aims to resolve inequality
on multiple levels of existence. In addition, feminist model of conflict determination identifies
sources of conflict as results of oppression prolonged by dominant. e.g. if a male and a female
walk over to the automotive service department to get their car work on, and the worker come out
and automatic address the male with the question, how may I help you , the worker is looking at
the male as the dominant person.

European Responses To Native Americans
Many elements influenced the ways Europeans reacted to the indigenous people of the Americas
and the ways the indigenous people responded to Europeans. Incentives, opportunities of wealth
and power, and religious beliefs all played a critical role in the conquering of the Indies. It was
believed that the indigenous people of the Americashad no advanced language, rules and laws of
private property and ownership of lands, and other established social rules that so called
advanced societies have. It was strongly believed that it was a responsibly of the Spanish to
educate these advances to the indigenous people of the Indies. The conquests over the natives

Since the people of the Indies were thought to be so uncivilized, Columbus strongly believed he
had every right to take their land and make them into servants. The Spanish were convinced that the
peoples of the Americas were uncivilized heathens, they set about destroying much of what they
found in the name of their God. Because the Indigenous peoples religious beliefs were seen as
barbaric the Spanish felt justified in conquering the natives so they could be punished for their sins
and convert. In 1519 HernГЎn CortГ©s a Spanish conquistador arrived in Mexico from Cuba with
a mission to explore and establish in the name of God and for the King and Queen of Spain. The
Aztec empire, unlike the small tribes in the Caribbean, was similar to Spain in which it had
complex city states and had an advanced system of governing. Its emperor Moctezuma ruled the
whole empire from capital at TenochtitlГЎn. Once the capital was taken over by the Spanish and
the emperor was captured, the entire empire fell under their control. When the Spanish arrived to
Spain they were welcomed and treated as Gods. When being shown the city what CortГ©s and his
men saw in TenochtitlГЎn shocked and them disturbed them deeply. The natives believed that the
Aztec gods required human sacrifice to guarantee that the sun would rise in the morning, to provide

How Did Benedict Arnold Win The Patriots
Benedict Arnold was a patriot after all. He fought more battles for the patriots than for Great
Britain. He served the 13 colonies for longer than he served Great Britain. And he did defect to
Great Britain, but not for the reasons that we think.
At the end of his military career for the Patriots, Benedict was a Major General. He fought and
won 8 battles for the patriots. Of which included Fort Ticonderoga, West Point, and Quebec City.
Benedict also planned many of the attacks for the patriots. He only fought in 3 battles for Great
Britain.
His military career started in March 1775, in Connecticut where he was elected captain of the
militia. He served the patriots for 5 more years after that, fighting in the battles of Quebec, The
Cedars, Valcour Island, Ridgefield, and Saratoga. Also he marched 1,100 men from Cambridge to
Quebec. Although he did serve the British, he only served them for one year, from 1780 1781....

The Challenges Of Immigrants In The 19th Century
The United State of America has been a place of opportunities where one can easily achieve his
or her dreams. Critiques have shown that even a few who are brought up from a poor family
have to turn out becoming great people on earth. It is a country that was built by immigrants. It
is well known that America s first European settlers were America s first immigrants. These first
citizens were welcome by Native Americans, and they were seen as a threat. By the 19th century,
the pattern had been repeated many times, with each new wave of immigrants encountering
mixed reactions from already established Americans. Turner, Laura Leddy. Challenges Faced by
Immigrants in the 19th Century. Synonym. N.p., n.d. Web. 27 June 2017. After the British took
over the land from the Native American and started to develop the land, there were other
European countries who also migrated to seek greener pastures. They were not accepted easily
but had to be screened in order for them to be welcome into the system. The early settlers were so
threatened after they were able to get rid of the natives of the land The German, Irish and Italian
immigrants who arrived in America during the 1800s often faced prejudice and mistrust. Many had
to overcome language barriers. Others discovered that the challenges they had fled from, such as
poverty or religious persecution, were to be encountered in America as well. A mass migration of
Germans began in the mid 1830s and continued into the 1880s when

Incarceration of African American Males Essay
Introduction
The trend of African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 has seen a dramatic increase of
incarceration. Attention has been focusing on areas of housing, education, and healthcare but the
most prominent problem for African American males is the increase in the incarceration rate.
African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 incarceration rate has been thought, by
many, to be caused by economic factors such as under employment or unemployment, poor housing,
lack of education, and lack of healthcare. Yet, others believe it is due to the imbalance of minorities
within the criminal justice system, such as judges, lawyers, and lawmakers.

Decades of failed public and private remedies for chronic disparities and disadvantages in
communities of color invite us to reexamine systems and institutions that provide and restrict
opportunity in new ways (Lawrence, K., 2011). The causes seem to be intertwined being poor
equals, equals a poor education, equals lack of employment, and ultimately equals an increased rate
of crime.
Consequences
The causes seem to be intertwined being poor, equals lack of education, which equals lack of
employment, which equals increased rate of crime which equals impossibility to join criminal
justice system. Also, many of these men are incarcerated while all the other non incarcerated
American young men are finishing school, starting careers, earning seniority at work, marrying and

their communities with a felony record that will pose extreme problems for them. The
incarceration leads the released convict into a lower social class even if they were considered
lower class Americans prior to their incarceration; they now are lower in social class standing in
most instances. This leads to a poor African American community, perhaps as many as 50% of the
male population will have been in prison. These incarcerated African American Males, who are in

The Theory Of Self And Identity Essay
The idea of self and identity is highly intricate, and the self can either be one of three options: the
self is private, constructive, or a mixture of both. In the private viewpoint, the self is static,
founded on a set number of traits, values, and dispositions that will not change with time. The
constructivist theory argues that the self is changeable by nature and changes based on varying
circumstances. Then, there is the mixture idea, that these separate opposing ideas are connected,
as the way the self is developed and reflected upon is based on how the brain and individual
thoughts develop. This is highlighted in Gopnik s statement that, Ourselves shape our brains at
least as much as our brains our selves (Gopnik 2). When reflecting on Gopnik s article more it
seems only logical to think that some parts of the self is constructed, whereas other parts are
private, and this completely depends on the environment of the child. Parenting styles is one of
those environmental aspects, and it largely impacts how a child s socioemotional, and language
skills develop, which in turn has a ripple effect on how the child ultimately views their own
personality and self. The most telling test to measure socioemotional development of a child is
through attachment, and the most successful way to measure this is through the strange
experiment. Children are classed as insecure resistant, insecure disorganized, insecure avoidant, or
secure based on how they behave during the

popular sovereignty (citizen s power).
On the other hand, my opponents might say homeland security sacrifices privacy for better

Marie Curie
LIFE OF MARIE CURIE
Marie Curie(1867 1934) was a French physicist with many accomplishments in both physics and
chemistry. Marie and her husband Pierre, who was also a
French physicist, are both famous for their work in radioactivity.
Marie Curie, originally named Marja Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw,
Poland on Nov.7, 1867. Her first learning of physics came from her father who taught it in high
school. Marie s father must have taught his daughter well because in 1891, she went to
Paris(where she changed her original name) and enrolled in the Sorbonne. Then two years later she
passed the Examination for her physics degree ranking in first place. She met Pierre ... Show more

Curie thus began studying uranium radiation and made it her doctoral thesis. With the aid of an
electrometer built by Pierre, Marie measured the strength of the radiation emitted form uranium
compounds and found it proportional to the uranium content, constant over a long period of time
and influenced by external conditions. She detected a similar immutable radiation in the
compounds of thorium. While checking these results, she made the discovery that uranium
pitchblende and the mineral chalcolite emitted four times as much radiation as their uranium
content. She realized that unknown elements, even more radioactive then uranium must be present.
Then in 1898 she drew the revolutionary conclusion that pitchblende contains a small amount of an
unknown radiating element.
Pierre Curie understood the importance of this supposition and joined his wife s work. In the next
year, the Curie s discovered two new radiating elements which they named Polonium(after Maries
native country) and Radium.
They now began the tedious and monumental task of isolating these elements so that their chemical
properties could be determined. During the next four years, working in a leaky wooden shed, they
processed a ton of pitchblende, laboriously isolating from it a fraction of a gram of radium.

I highly suggest that you use dumbbells often because of the fact that they give your arms that
specific and targeted workout. Make sure that you don t always do bicep curls, as there are
many other types of exercises that you can do to make dumbbells more powerful to use. For
example, you can place the dumbbells out in front of you and allow for the weight to take over.
Hold onto it as hard as you can and enjoy the burning sensations in your arms. They can help you

Essay on Hypochondriasis as A Mental Disorder
Hypochondriasis as A Mental Disorder
Headache = Tumor. Cough = Tuberculosis. Mole = Skin Cancer. Such is the thought process of a
hypochodriac. As defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM IV), hypochondriasis
is an unrealistic interpretation of one s bodily sensations as abnormal, leading to the fear and belief
that one has a serious disease (1). This preoccupation with having a serious medical condition is
one of the somatoform disorders and may be considered more as a symptom than a disease. In fact,
hypochondriacal symptoms often appear as a part of other mental disorders, including forms of
depression or schizophrenia (2). For this reason, a close investigation of hypochondriacal behavior
is necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With numbers such as these, the issue of understanding more about these symptoms has become
important within the medical world. These pursuits have resulted in four etiologic theories
regarding hypochondriasis, a combination of which could hold the answers to this disorder.
The first of these theories relates to the amplification of normal bodily sensations, or when
individuals ...attribute pathologic meanings to normal somatic sensations and functions. An
example of this would be to attribute swollen lymph nodes to a malignant disease, as opposed to a
simple viral infection. The consequences mostly affect the individual s psychological and
behavioral well being, which leads to the focus of the second theory. Based on Freud s
psychodynamic hypotheses, there is a belief that unconscious conflicts are the result of traumatic or
frustrating childhood experiences being reawakened in adult life by similar stress or frustration.
Consequently, particularly high stress/tension situations could arouse subconscious feelings of
guilt, anxiety, and fear for a person, and their inability to express these emotions verbally may lead
to physical manifestations of conflict.
The remaining two theories take a more behavioral oriented approach. The third

Searching. Ben Was At Home On A Saturday Night Waiting
Searching
Ben was at home on a Saturday night waiting on his wife. He had made reservations at her
favourite restaurant. When Ben last called Claire she said she would be home in an hour. It had
been two hours and there was still no sign of Claire. It was not usual of her to leave Ben
uninformed. Ben s concern grew and just as he got up to call her, there was a loud knock on the
door. Ben knew it was Claire; after 6 years of marriage, he recognised her annoyingly loud knock.
Where have you been? Ben asked. Nowhere, I just missed my bus she replied. Well we can t make
it for our reservation anymore he said frustratingly, how about I cook something quickly? You must
be starving.
It was clear Ben ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Claire entered the flat, he watched her from the corner of the hallway trying to remain
inconspicuous. He silently stood with his ear close the door, attempting to eavesdrop on the chatter
coming from within the flat. He could not make out anything. Just as he was about to bang on the
door, he noticed an air vent near the door and peaked through it.
From there he saw Claire. She was perched on the floor: participating in what, to him, looked like
some sort ritual. A SГ©ance. The woman who was leading the ritual was very strange looking,
sort of, how you would expect a clairvoyant, or is it a medium to look like, Ben thought. He could
not believe his eyes; never in a million years would he expect Claire to engage in such a thing.
After all, they were both university graduates, well educated people. Ben thought he knew Claire
well enough to know she would never do take part in such a thing or believe in these rituals.
He spent the whole day questioning why she would do this, but even after having spent the entire
day thinking, he could not come to any conclusion. He decided to contact his therapist to talk about
the situation and settle his mind on what he should do. His therapist was the only person Ben ever
spoke to about his feelings and emotions. The only person he spoke about Claire to. Ben had told
Claire about the therapy sessions and recommended that she could take talk to someone too; she
rejected him and told Ben she would be

Exclusionary Rule And The Rule Of Law
Exclusionary Rule
Many constitutions all over the world provide basis for innocence until proven guilty. As such, the
courts of law must always factor in the provisions of criminal procedure and natural justice when
cross examining offenders. In light of this, the exclusionary rule allows a defendant to argue his
case if his privacy rights were violated before arraigned in court. In essence, the provisions of the
exclusionary rule prevent the government authorities and machinery such as FBI and CIA from
gathering evidence from an individual in a manner that disrespects the United States constitution.
Therefore, the exclusionary law protects an individual against unreasonable search or seizure in line
with the provisions of the Fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the freedom to information by government authorities must not exceedingly surpass the
rights and privileges that citizens enjoy (Re and Richard, pg. 1887).
What is more, the exclusionary rule provides that the extra evidence obtained because of
unreasonable search or seizure will not be used in a court of law, as it will be considered fruit of
the poisonous tree. In essence, the exclusionary rule excludes any evidence collected out of
unlawful searches. For instance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may infringe on one his
right to privacy by obtaining information from the individual his computer, as this will amount to
unreasonable search and disrespect to the individual his privacy rights. As such, it is unreasonable
for the government agencies such as the Department of Justice to obtain information from Google,
Yahoo, Facebook, or any other online service provide, as this may be presumed by a court of law
as unlawful and unreasonable search that amounts to infringement on one s privacy rights (O Brien
and Michael, pg. 1889).
There has been an argument among legal experts that the provisions of the exclusionary rule are
merely to deter the misconduct of the law enforcement personnel. In light of this, most courts do
not adhere to the provisions of the exclusionary rule as it is viewed as an extension of the Fourth
Amendment. Ideally, Police officers deem the law as an obstacle on their endeavors to

Experiencing Different Emotions and Struggles in...
Through different types of readings of Shakespeare s Sonnet 146, the reader is able to access the
depth and difference in meaning among the alternate readings. The general reading of Sonnet 146
allows the reader to experience the inner emotions are meaning behind the text, of the struggle and
battle between the speakers souland the earthly indulgences he immorally takes advantage of at the
expense of his soul s immortality. However the contextual reading presents are new argument to the
sonnet, where it can be analysed differently to a general reading. In Shakespearean time sonnets
were ultimately love poems, as Sonnet 146 appears to stand out from the rest as the speaker talks
of his soul s immortality and not of love. Although by understanding the context of the time the
sonnet was written, scholars have come to understand, there may have been another meaning
behind the sonnet, one referencing the speakers love for his mistress and how she is the centre of
the sinfulness of earth, the speaker pities his lover as sees her morality and knows he must leave
her, in order for his soul to be made merciful. Through the different readings of the text the reader is
able to interpreted and understand how they present an alternative connotation.
Throughout all Shakespeare s sonnets there is one that stands out from most, Sonnet 146. The
speaker addresses this sonnet to his soul; this presents great level of depth as the speaker expresses
his feelings about how he is overwhelmed

Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music
Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history
music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their
commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray
the same message, and this is not a coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting
police brutality and the injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the
audience can see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much
racism going on today. Joey s song, Temptations, explores the issue of racial equality and the
struggle of being black in America. Growing up in a poor neighborhood not having your rent on
time because your mom works a nine to five job that s just enough to make a living as a result of
how the government has set up the average person to be, I really came up from the bottom
/ Strugglin , my momma on her last dollar / Hustling man I ve been putting in these hours / The
government been trying to take away what s ours (line 18 21). In this song, Badmon describes
how young men are killing one another, and figure that is the way to go about things because of
culture but fail to really see what they are doing as well as who they are hurting. He also mentions
how people make an example out of killing someone rather than spreading positivity and leaves
you with the question of are you willing to make the sacrifice, to make a

Black Like Me, By John Howard Griffin
Over fifty years ago, a Texan named John Howard Griffin decided to start a revolutionary
experiment to change the color of his skin and experience racism in the South firsthand. While
considered extremely controversial at the time, the arguments and teachings of Griffin in his book,
Black Like Me, are still scrutinized and discussed today. The book has continued to enlighten
readers to the oppressive, violent racismin America, and aided them in realizing that racism, while
it may be hidden, is still prevalent today. It has encouraged a new generation to work towards
equality, while warning about the dangers of supremacy, to progressively improve society for all.

While it may be harmless, it still exists today. The idea that someone is different will
subconsciously make one act different, as Banaji experiences (Vedantam). Griffin too experiences
this, when he is hitchhiking and white males are offering him rides; he is astounded that they
would ask such provoking and private questions about his personal life. Griffin realizes that they
would not ask the same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a
black man, they see them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Many would believe it is not a racist act, as
the white men are helping them and they are not harming them. However, by treating them so
rudely and cruelly, while it may be unconsciously, they are affecting them psychologically, which is
possible to do in many ways.
As society has progressed towards non violence, racism has changed into a different form, with
harsher psychological effects. A main cause of this psychological effect of racism is the
stereotyping that society has accepted as normal (Anderson). Although it may be unintentional, it
is easy to deny stereotyping exists, but difficult to prove that it does not exist. As Griffin
recounts, white society had everything sewed up. If you didn t...say yes, you were in deep
trouble. If you did, then you allowed [them] to go...on believing in the stereotype (Griffin 167). He
explains the idea society had created of a good Negro and a bad Negro, and reveals that African

The Transformation of the International System due to the...
Rise of Networks and ICTs are transforming the International System
Introduction
Revolution in Information Technology has changed the entire meaning of International Social and
Economic System. This change became more prominent in the fourth quarter of twentieth century
when the core activities of circulation, consumption and production of markets, information,
technology, labor, capital and raw materials all started to be controlled globally. These activities are
now organized directly or by means of network connection between business and economic agents.
This system of new economy is more commonly known as globalization and when we talk about it,
the first thing that comes to mind is an instant exchange of information and trading by means of
networks. Information and communication technology has played a major role in globalizing the
world and transforming the international social and economic system.
Globalization has now created the business market networks in which the whole world participates
to raise the economy and thus profitability. In fact, it is now not possible to think of globalization
without understanding the concept of networks. In order to compete with the rest of the world,
every nation or business has to grow their network.
As noted in World Summit on IT, Information and Communication technology is acting like a
catalyst in making development to social and economic system of the world. ICT is expected and

The Deadly Diet Of Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are sweeping this country and are rampant on junior high, high school, and
college campuses. These disorders are often referred to as the Deadly Diet, but are often known
by their more popular names: anorexia or bulimia. They affect more than 20% of females
between the age of thirteen and forty. It is very rare for a young female not to know of someone
with an eating disorder. Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious
problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female
problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families.
Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar families. The Deadly
Diet can begin anywhere from the ages of ten to thirty. The peak age for the beginning of the
Deadly Diet in females is eleven to fifteen; the peak for males is between fifteen and eighteen
(Bauer, 89). Most of the information on the Deadly Diet says that it is a problem of teenage
girls, but as clinics have found, most of the people who come to get therapy are in their twenties
and thirties. This may be because younger people are less likely to seek professional help. Most
often it is the parent who brings the patient for help. Adults who have left home and had to deal
with managing their lives usually tend to realize more clearly the need to seek help and make
changes. Everywhere one looks today, one will notice that our culture places a very

The Boundary Of The Yakama Nation Reservation
Problems
The boundary of the Yakama Nation Reservation is considered home to different culturally diverse
populations. Parenting skills and teaching can vary dramatically from each of those unique
households. The diverse populations come with varying levels of what is considered appropriate
child rearing practices. Child abuse intakes are increasing due to families from Mexico coming
here to the US and the standards are different (Ruiz, 2015). Pilar Ruiz is a Social Worker at
Children s Administration assigned to the Child Protective Services. Families migrate to the area
and they carry different perspectives on parenting and may not understand the expectations of
Washington State and Child Abuse Laws. It is not only migrant families that need additional
support. Families that have been here for many years have traditional practices that may cross the
line when it comes to child abuse and neglect. These families that are located in this area need the
additional support of increasing family bonds, healthy parenting, life skills, bonding, and reducing
violence and substance abuse.
Macro Personal Reality
Establishing positive parenting skills within the community will assist the parents in gaining new
alternatives to their current practices. Often we get the same families that are repeat offenders or
they never really learn their ways of parenting are not acceptable (Ruiz, 2015). Providing the Strong
Families curriculum will reduce the number of children that are

Edward Estlin Cummings Essay example
Edward Estlin Cummings was an American poet the second most widely read poet in the United
States, after Robert Frost born in 1894. He was immensely popular, especially among younger
readers for his work; he experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling and syntax. The
majority of his poems turn to the subjects of love, war, and sex, with such simplistic language,
abandoning traditional techniques to create new means of poetic expression.
Somewhere I have never travelled , is a very highly acclaimed poem. The narrator speaks of his
lover, and the power, which attaches him to her. The title, Somewhere I have never travelled , is
significant to the romantic theme of the poem. It is quite a complicated concept, and at first ... Show

Death and forever describes the speaker s feelings, like a sudden plunge in his heart because his
love is so deep, aching and yet so full of hope and wonder.
E.E. Cummings use of language is quite ambigious as this is only one of many possible
interpretations. His use of diction expresses the love in so gentle a way, yet with such powerful
and passionate meaning, effectively captivating the reader; it combines vivid images with intense
use of language. The entire poem is a metaphor; the narrator is comparing his lover s qualities, to
that of a rose, though it never directly mentions the word love , the essence of love is worded
beautifully.
There is constant imagery of nature; the flowers closing and opening, the seasons and elements
and references to the sense of touch, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens .
This reminds us of the closeness of the lovers and emphasizes the spontaneity of the lovers, their
preference for intuition or feeling over thought. There is also repetitive use of the words close
and open , E.E. Cummings is expressing the power of a woman over the man who loves her. She
can open him as spring opens a rose, or close him as snow closes a flower; again, the use of
language conjure images of nature, suggesting the vitality of their love. The subject of the poem is

Ceo Robert A. Disney Corporation
In his letter to shareholders that proceeds the 2014 financial report, Disney s CEO Robert A. Iger
divulges Disney s brand strategy, he states, we ve reached this level of sustained success by
focusing on three strategic priorities that unlock the limitless potential of this remarkable company:
unparalleled creativity, innovative technology, and global expansion (Fiscal Year 2014 3). Though
Iger does not specifically refer to Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) in his letter, the company s
strategic priorities most certainly extend to DTP. The Walt Disney
Corporation (WDC) is divided
into four segments: Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel), Parks and Resorts, Studio
Entertainment, and Consumer Products. DTP is a part of the Studio Entertainment Division.
According the Fiscal Year 2014 Annual Financial Report,
Disney Theatrical Group develops, produces and licenses live entertainment events. The Company
has produced and licensed Broadway productions around the world...Disney Theatrical Group
licenses the Company s intellectual property to Feld Entertainment, the producer of Disney On Ice
and Disney Live!. (14)
This statement makes up merely one small paragraph in a 214 page document, which parallels the
reality that DTP is but one tiny drop in the Walt Disney Corporation bucket. It is also difficult to
track what percentage of the WDC DTP represents for several reasons. First and foremost, given the
fact that DTP is a department under the studio entertainment

  • 3. The Challenge Between Civilization and Savagery in Lord... In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, symbolism and allegories were used to show how the children who are stranded on an island have a huge struggle with civilization and savagery. Ralph, Piggy, Jack, and Simon are the ones in the novel that struggle with this the most. Golding wrote this story because he was horrified of Stalinism in Russia. His experience in World War II effected his view on humanity and evils that are capable of occurring. Ralph, Piggy, and Simon are manifested with the civilizing instinct , while Jack, Roger, and the other hunters have the savage instinct. Golding also dealt with human nature. Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that man is good, but Golding controverts his philosophy. Golding believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also beings to lose his morals and self control. Ralph becomes savage after everyone has joined Jacks new tribe. He has always been savage because everyone has savagery in them. He truly shows his savage side when he murdered Simon. It was a night on the beach while everyone is around a fire. The boys start to chant for the beast to come out. Everyone is in the moment and something from the woods comes out onto the beach. A thing was crawling out of the forest (Golding152). They start attacking what they think is the beast . Once they stop Ralph then realizes that they have killed Simon. The next morning, Ralph is the only person to acknowledge that they murdered someone the night before. This is the only time that Ralph becomes savage. He knows what he has just done was an awful thing, but at the same time it gave him an adrenaline rush. He was excited about what he did. In the end, Ralph gained an understanding of mans human nature character, something that he cant acquire. Under the authority of Ralph, second in line was a kid named Piggy. • 5. Generational Themes In Hamlet Hamlet is a play that despite age, can deliver themes that consistently transcend generational differences, even when those differences span hundreds of years. It is the strength of these themes in Hamlet that has given the play such overwhelming cultural gravitas that allows it to remain relevant to this day. As such, it is a highly appropriate play for high schoolstudents to study. The core messages of generational conflict, unfolding to one s true self, and morality are struggles faced by both Hamlet, and high school students. Consequently, this can motivate students in their studies when they discover a character, that despite the difference in time, is so easily relatable. When students recognize similarities between Hamlet and themselves, such as a distaste for the tedious old fools (2.2.219) with their plentiful lack of wit (2.2.199), it creates a connection between the students and this seemingly ancient piece of literature. A connection, that hopefully after the high school level, can be nurtured into a passion for literature. A connection that allows for greater insight and analysis at this current level. A connection, that if students are discouraged from making now, they are unlikely to make later in their lives, as once they grow older the heyday in the blood is tame. (3.4.69) and they will no longer be able to connect with the younger characters such as Hamlet, or the young Fortinbras, / Of unimproved mettle hot and full (1.1.95 96). High school ... A Proposal to Stop the Poaching of the Siberian Tiger One of the world s most beautiful creatures, the Siberian tiger, has been roaming earth for many years. The Siberian tiger subspecies has been subjected to many obstacles, which make it very difficult for it to survive. Their main threat is not lack of food, but man, one of God s most fierce and cruel species. Because of man the tiger population has reduced to approximately 400 in the wild, and restricted their remaining habitat to the Russian Far East (Field Projects). Beloved Essay Oftentimes, one can get too caught up in familial matters or personal issues, and as a result, something as simple as providing another with love and value can be long forgotten. Both novels take place in Ohio during late 1980 s to the early 1930 s. In Beloved, the protagonist Sethe continuously mentions how she wishes her mother would have put more effort into their relationship.. Most days, Sethe would only see her mother for one or two hours. Her mother was always busy working in the hot and musty rice field. Sethe felt like her mother never really loved her and did not care much for her well being either. Sethe expresses her sadness: Sunday s she slept like a stick. She must of nursed me two or three weeks that s the way the others did.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote shows that Sethe never had the opportunity to feel her mother s compassion or affection, more commonly known as a mother s love . This love is often personified in a mother who will lay down her life for her child. It is known as a selfless sacrifice. Sethe s mother was always working and never had time to spend with her, let alone time to nurse her. One could say Sethe s relationship with her mother was non existent, Sethe constantly reminds herself how she felt abandoned when she was younger. She had to be nursed by Nan, a women who s job was to breastfeed children of the whites as well as other fellow slaves. Nan had to nurse white babies and me too because Ma am was in the rice. The little white babies got it first and I got what was left. Or none. There was no nursing milk to call my own (Morrison, Beloved, 200). Put differently, Sethe did not have the opportunity to create a special mother daughter bond that most mothers create with their child, to ensure the child s protection and enrich their development. Therefore she was not given a shot to be a real daughter to anyone, she had no support or love from the only family she had, which was her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Importance Of The Technicolor Process In The Animated... The animated films of the 1930s and 1940s definitely took advantage of the new Technicolor process. For Disney in particular, it was the only colour process that he felt worked for his films (Telotte 48). Especially since the idea of animated films as feature films was relatively new at the time, there was a necessity for the differentiation of Disney s films to live action films so that animated films could be taken seriously. Disney used Technicolorto do just that (Telotte 48). Another, arguably more important reason for the use of colour in the animated films was the still developing Disney illusion of life aesthetic (Telotte 48). The colours of the films were used to help portray a natural looking world, one that would be believable to the viewer despite being animation. Higgins discusses that the preferred Disney aesthetic was that artists favored pastels and saved strongly saturated hues for accents. Backgrounds were kept desaturated and cool to assure that the main characters would have chromatic prominence [...] Disney artists were adept at coordinating colorand drama, ( Order and Plenitude 299). Even though they preferred to keep it natural, the animators were able to experiment with Technicolour more than the colour directors of live action films were. As discussed by Francine Stock, ...colour in both setting and lighting could accentuate mood or character without aping reality, (83 4). When the Spanish came, the Indian are the inhabitants of the land; ruling the land and surviving with all the natural resource. As history is depicted by the victor, the fate of the right owner of the land has always been untold. Their once peaceful time had ceased to continue as the Spanish colonized and stole the land from the Indian. • 13. The Black Art Movement And The Black Arts Movement The Black Aesthetic is a form of cultural expression that solidified itself during the Black Arts Movement that was meant to exemplify black pride and reformation, culture, and community. Many works that arose out of the Black Arts Movement depicted the role and responsibilities of the black artist. Ralph Ellison claimed in his essay, The World and the Jug that he did not want to be seen as a Negro artist but rather just an artist. This was understandable because he wanted to be known for his talent rather than as a figurehead for his people but since then, there has been a lot of significant historical and cultural development to this argument. After The World and the Jug was released in 1964, we had the death of Malcolm X in 1965 which was the catalyst for the Black Arts Movement to truly begin. Black artists became very insistent upon invoking change through their work and expressing their blackness unapologetically and it began to show. There was a change in mindset where these newer artists wrote about their blackness and instances occurring in black communities simply because it was a defining part of who they were, especially as women were given a voice in the movement and were able to incorporate a new viewpoint despite the evident hyper masculinity. Yes, they were artists, but they were black artists. Two poems that specifically exemplify this are Poem about My Rights and Poem about Police Violence by June Jordan. These poems are able to depict black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s memory as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and neurons, which are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both of these criteria s, proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual ability. Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to concentrate more easily. The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music, their intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect on young children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways are easily influenced. The music composed by Mozart has a 60 beat per minute pattern that is repetitive throughout his pieces. The abnormal heart rhythm typically accompanies myocardial ischemia in humans and plays a role in the high mortality rate associated with myocardial infarction. • 25. Hip Hop Politics, Class Unity And The Internet In this essay, the influence of hip hop politics, class unity and the internet will be explored to discover how the consumer became an active producer of culture. In the early days of hip hop, particularly from its mainstream origins in the 70 s (Dimitriadis 2009) up until the 90 s, the underground scene rarely floated into the mainstream. Despite a good portion of the underground consisting of consumers, to achieve mainstream success one would need the right connections and musical equipment. Before these tools became affordable and accessible, the consumer wasn t integrated as an active producer of culture. Thus the average consumer wasn t capable of making major waves in the industry. In some respect, the mainstream producer carried a sense of prestige because there were only a few who garnered attention in the mainstream such as DJ Premier and Eric B and Rakim (Tom Terrell, 1998). During the early origins of hip hop, as Josh Kun describes, hip hop was mainly a facet of African American culture. As a result, many consumers from other backgrounds weren t majorly included in developing the hip hop culture. This, however, changed when icons such as Run DMC and Aerosmith broadened the scope of hip hop and allowed more consumers to play an active role in producing the culture. The popularity of the internet rose in the early 2000 s and it allowed the consumer to actively shape the culture. Imatinib is tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Tyrosine kinase is a protein that cells use to signal to each other to grow (Iqbal and Iqbal, 2014, p.1). It works by preventing a tyrosine kinase enzyme and therefore inhibits growth factor induced receptor phosphorylation and blocks the PDGF/PDGFR and P13 k/Akt pathway (Kheradmand, et.al.2016, p.83). According to Richardson (2010, p.679), the drug Velcade was also known as Bortezomib is useful in the treatment of multiple myelomas. It works by blocking or slowing down the action of proteosome is to break down protein in both healthy and cancerous cells. When proteosome activity is blocked, proteins in the cells accumulate. This accumulation may cause cells to stop growing and multiplying, and cause them to die and Sutent (Sunitinib) is a drug used to treat metastatic renal cell carcinoma. It is well known that America s first European settlers were America s first immigrants. These first citizens were welcome by Native Americans, and they were seen as a threat. The constructivist theory argues that the self is changeable by nature and changes based on varying circumstances. Then, there is the mixture idea, that these separate opposing ideas are connected, as the way the self is developed and reflected upon is based on how the brain and individual thoughts develop. This is highlighted in Gopnik s statement that, Ourselves shape our brains at least as much as our brains our selves (Gopnik 2). When reflecting on Gopnik s article more it seems only logical to think that some parts of the self is constructed, whereas other parts are private, and this completely depends on the environment of the child. Parenting styles is one of those environmental aspects, and it largely impacts how a child s socioemotional, and language skills develop, which in turn has a ripple effect on how the child ultimately views their own personality and self. The most telling test to measure socioemotional development of a child is through attachment, and the most successful way to measure this is through the strange experiment. Children are classed as insecure resistant, insecure disorganized, insecure avoidant, or secure based on how they behave during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is what the Department of Homeland Security (D.H.S) is doing to you because of an act that passed 45 days after the 9/11 attack. The Congress had to rush the act since they fear more attacks will happen, and was quickly passed without votes. In fact, homeland security is against our civil liberties (personal freedom). My partner and I believe that homeland security in the United Statesshould be controlled by the government because it is against a lot of amendments in the Constitution, and popular sovereignty (citizen s power). On the other hand, my opponents might say homeland security sacrifices privacy for better protection and safety, but in my opinion it is cheating to go through records without any permission by a guardian or the court. In the United Kingdom, the government has a law called Do not spy on us which is using the parliament to stop power on spying citizen s records, this is a great example to the U.S . It also recommend to have a secure internet for the U.K and to have transparent laws not secret laws. Marie and her husband Pierre, who was also a French physicist, are both famous for their work in radioactivity. Marie Curie, originally named Marja Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw, Poland on Nov.7, 1867. Her first learning of physics came from her father who taught it in high school. Curie thus began studying uranium radiation and made it her doctoral thesis. With the aid of an electrometer built by Pierre, Marie measured the strength of the radiation emitted form uranium compounds and found it proportional to the uranium content, constant over a long period of time and influenced by external conditions. She detected a similar immutable radiation in the compounds of thorium. While checking these results, she made the discovery that uranium pitchblende and the mineral chalcolite emitted four times as much radiation as their uranium content. She realized that unknown elements, even more radioactive then uranium must be present. Then in 1898 she drew the revolutionary conclusion that pitchblende contains a small amount of an unknown radiating element. Pierre Curie understood the importance of this supposition and joined his wife s work. In the next year, the Curie s discovered two new radiating elements which they named Polonium(after Maries native country) and Radium. They now began the tedious and monumental task of isolating these elements so that their chemical properties could be determined. During the next four years, working in a leaky wooden shed, they processed a ton of pitchblende, laboriously isolating from it a fraction of a gram of radium. In 1903, ... Griffin realizes that they would not ask the same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a black man, they see them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Statistics show that at least one in five young women have a serious problem with eating and weight (Bruch, 25). The Deadly Diet appears to be a mostly female problem. Eating disorders are most common in the middle to upper middle class families. Currently, the incidence is much lower in females from the blue collar families. The Deadly Diet can begin anywhere from the ages of ten to thirty. The peak age for the beginning of the Deadly Diet in females is eleven to fifteen; the peak for males is between fifteen and eighteen (Bauer, 89). Most of the information on the Deadly Diet says that it is a problem of teenage girls, but as clinics have found, most of the people who come to get therapy are in their twenties and thirties. This may be because younger people are less likely to seek professional help. Most often it is the parent who brings the patient for help.
