The Pros And Cons Of Clicker
Research topic: Pros and Cons of using Clicker Thesis statement: This study seeks to identify the
positive and negative impacts of clicker for college students. I. Introduction. What is a Clicker?
A Clicker is a device designed for students and teachers for a new method of learning and
teaching experience for students and teachers. The Clicker is a technology that can automatically
record the student s performances in the class. This device is being used by some schools in this
country like Mapua Institute of Technology. This college recently implemented the use of
Clicker, it was said that there are a lot of advantages in using this clicker device. Though there are
advantages, there are also disadvantages in using this device. The advantages of this device is that
it will improve the student s performance. It also says that learning with this device is going to be
fun and motivating for students. It allows the teachers to identify which among the students
understands and do not understand the lessons. Though there are a lot of advantages for this
device, there are also a few disadvantages. The disadvantage of this device is that the price is very
expensive. Another disadvantage is that it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can also assist instructors in assessing student comprehension and developing classroom
activities that allow for the application of key concepts to practical problems . According to them
there are many potential trade offs of using the clicker and pedagogical values. One of these is it
will obtain student participation and engagement to rise deeper thinking about the selected topic
and it monitor students understanding in order to recognize and assert areas of confusion and

Fifty JFK Conspiracy Clues Essays
FIFTY JFK CONSPIRACY CLUES The Rosetta Stone of the JFK Assassination is the famous
photograph, by James Ike Altgens, which was taken about one second after the throat wound of
JFK, since it is the only photo in the public files that shows a motorcycle escort cop next to the
limousine during the final 30 seconds. Many Zapruder Film frames were blocked by a Freeway
sign and some Z frame lines move, upwards, near the final shot and hide something with the frame
lines. Therefore, if you cross reference the following photos to each other by time and by angles,
you may conclude, as I have, that the Stemmons Freeway Sign was moved or added to the Zapruder
Film to censor the action near the limousine during the assassination plot.... Show more content on

Deaf Again By Mark Drolsbaugh Essay
In Mark Drolsbaugh s educational and witty autobiography Deaf Again , he describes his
journey as a child born to deaf parents, losing his own hearing in his childhood, and navigating
both hearing and deaf worlds while trying to discover his identity. In the first chapter,
Drolsbaugh tells the story of his own childbirth. His mother Sherry s childbirth experience was
traumatic, to say the very least. Her needs and comfort were disregarded repeatedly by doctors
and nurses alike, simply because they could not and chose not to try to understand her. This
ignorance and disregard could have caused a woman to be inadvertently suffocated, if her Deaf
husband had not been there to understand what was happening and put a stop to it. While one
may hope that such a terrible experience would not occur today, it is unfortunately still possible.
Communication barriers can be a matter of life or death, and when hospitals do not provide Sign
Language interpreters to be present for deaf patients during childbirth, despite the fact that the
Equality Act is supposed to require this. the worst could happen. Unfortunately, while times have
changed since 1966, this does not ensure that all deaf patients will be treated with the respect and
dignity they deserve. It is not unheard of for a child to be born to two deaf parents, and while the
child receives medical treatment, the parents are left in the dark about what is happening with their
baby because the hospital staff cannot (or, one could

What Does Success Mean To Me Research Paper
Success is a small word with a great meaning to it. According to Urban Dictionary, success is the
accomplishment of an aim or purpose. But does it have the same meaning for everyone? To me,
success is making my father feel proud of me by fulfilling his dream, which is to do something
meaningful with my life and to see me become something in my life. Attaining success requires
laborious training, but it is not impossible if you work hard of it. When I was 15 years old, my
father, who was everything to me, died from a heart attack. After this dreadful incident my heart
shattered, my life stopped and I did not know what to do with my life anymore. He took a piece of
my heart with him, a piece that will never return. All... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was broken and I did not know how to get back on my feet. One day, I had a conversation with
my mother and she told me that we can not bring him back, but we can keep him alive in
ourselves. That conversation with my mother helped we realize that I can keep him alive by
fulfilling his dream. He wanted me to have a career in the field of business and that is what I am
going to do. Since, advertising industry as a whole is supposed to grow even stronger over the
next decade, I am going to major in marketing. I have learned a lot from my past. I learned that
we should never let anything interrupt our path to success. It took me two years to finally
understand that we should let go of our past because if we do not, then it is going to hold us
back and it will prevent us from learning new things. Endicott College is a great place that can
give wings to my dream, the dream of making my father proud of me. Through Endicott College, I
can share my knowledge with the world and become successful. At the end of the day, something
that is bittersweet about success is that my father will not be here to enjoy it with me. But, if he

The Entertainment and Media Culture
There are many different forms of entertainment media that has made an impact on the American
culture. However, the one I feel that has made the biggest impact on American culture is the music
industry.
I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music was smooth, it
spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in a calm manner, they danced
in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music took on a distinctive style, therefore, the
dances and the clothing took on a different style. The clothing began to show body parts, the
stomach was the main part that showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept
your body covered. When the music changed, the kids changed.
In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as well as, the
disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. Their clothing, haircuts, and
even their language changed. It got to be such a drastic change where men were wearing makeup
and as much jewelry as the women were. Then came the Gangsta Rap, which brought about the
gang scene. Everybody was wearing their clothes extra big and baggy. The wearing of a certain
color meant you represented a certain gang and the wearing of your cap meant something else,
however, it all represented gang signs.

Analysis of Stephen Kings The Man Who Loved Flowers
The man who loved flowers
One person s craziness is another person s reality. Tim Burton. We people have a tendency to live
our life in suffer for the past because it s terrifying to face the truth. Unaware that it affects our
fellow human beings. Stephen King s short story The man who loved flowers manages to blur the
lines between normality and insanity while digging down in the fear of love.
The story takes place on a sunny day in New York streets in the 1960 s. The protagonist is an
unknown narrator who is an elegant young man with a grey suit on. In the beginning of the text is
the atmosphere vibrant, idyllic and calm. Furthermore the protagonist approaches an old man who

What Is The Theme Of The Green Mile
Stephen King and his story, the green mile
Stephen King is a world known author who writes horror/psychological fiction. As a boy, he was
interested in horror books. He wrote some stories himself, just for fun, and he never stopped. In
1996 he published the green mile, (a movie was made later on).
The story is about the John Coffey and his execution in E block at Cold Mountain State
Penitentiary. Hal Moores is the warden of the penitentiary, his wife is very sick. Paul Edgecomb
is the head of E block and a friend of Moores. E block is where they keep the death row prisoners
and perform capital punishment. One day Paul receives a prisoner who supposedly raped and killed
two young farm girls. The prisoner, John Coffey, has some weird powers... Show more content on

raped and murdered a young girl, started a fire to cover it up, which resulted in multiple deaths.
Before Percy ruined his execution Paul and Brutus had promised to take care of Mr. Jingles.
John Coffey was convicted of the rape and murder of two tiny farm girls. He is as big as a giant,
but he isn t scary. Unexpectedly the man is scared of the dark and holds magical powers. He
makes many friends on E block, they are fascinated by his magic and kindness. John gave some of
his magic to Paul and Mr. Jingles causing them both to live an unnaturally long life. At his
execution Paul shook his hand one last time.
The first and most noticeable difference between the movie and book is how the story is told. At
the nursing home Paul has a friend, Elaine. In the movie he tells her what happened because it
upset him. While in the book he writes the story and lets her read it. The book often comes back
to the elderly Paul and sees how he s doing, in the movie we only see him in the beginning and the
end.
For some reason the directors of the movie decided to leave out Janet s death. I think that part was
very important and it helped us understand what Paul has to go through with his long life

Pros And Cons Of Organ Donation
To Donate Your Organs or To Not? Organ donation is an increasing practice in the medical field,
which saves countless lives every year. Patients who are eligible for organ transplantation have
an organ in their body that has either failed or works improperly and requires a new organ to be
enable their body to work properly again. This problem can happen to people of any age from
young children all the way to the elderly. Organ donors, either after death or alive, supply these
people with a better functioning organ through donation. On the downside, there are not enough
people willing to donate as there are patients in need.
Every patient requiring an organ gets put on a list, where they wait for their opportunity to
receive an organ, but many people die due to the amount of time this takes. This amount of time
would dramatically decrease if more people were willing to donate. One single deceased organ
donor can save the lives of several different people and affect the lives of countless. Giving
someone a chance at a new healthy and happy life is honorable and commendable. On one side,
donating is interpreted as just giving a piece of lungs to another person, but to the receiver it s a
miracle and a life changing experience. Furthermore, organ donation is totally free of charge to the
donor and if a person donates after death many areas offer free cremation.
One of the most reputable arguments against organ donations is the believe that doctors or
nurses will not attempt to save your life as they would if you were not a donor. This believe is
completely false. A medical physician will always do absolutely everything in their ability to
save their patient(s) life. Against the rumors, treatment of a person who is registered to donate
will not differ from a person who is not registered. Specific documents, that tell the doctor if a
person is registered to donate organs or not, only allows the doctor to remove organs from a body
after being legally declared deceased, No physician can remove a person s organs prior to the legal
steps being taken beforehand and they will not pronounce someone dead if there is still a fighting
chance of the patient surviving. Although, to keep the organs healthy to be able to

Minority Trope Representation in AMC’s The Walking Dead
Essay
The Walking Dead is a television show produced by AMC based off the black and white comic
books by Robert Kirkman. The show and comic book center around main character Rick Grimes
as he learns to cope with life after waking up from a deadly wound into an outbreak of virus
wielding undead creatures known as walkers. Over the course of season two and season three, the
show starts to center around how Rick is able to command the group of survivors and the challenges
they face trying to settle down in a safe area. They are confronted with another community nearby
late in season three along with the increasing number of walkers in the area. While facing these
challenges, the number of surviving members continues to dwindle; however, the... Show more

Usually, they are forgotten or killed off and labeled with the mental occupational hazard trope. This
trope proves that once a minority has served their purpose, they are no longer needed to help the
group survive any longer and the main character forgets about the minority (tvtrope.org). These are
the main ideas perpetuated in AMC s thriller television show The Walking Dead. From the very
beginning, the show portrayed minorities as nothing more than the magical negro helping to
further Rick s survival in the zombie infested world. As more characters are introduced, the
majorities are of the white race with a few exceptions; Morgan, his son, and T Dog are African
American. They represent a racial inequality constitutive [...] order while Michonne represents a
progressive move toward equality within the group (Hugey, p 544).
Literature Review Matthew Hughey wrote Cinethetic Racism: White Redemption and Black
Stereotypes in Magical Negro Films in 2009 to dicuss the trend of progressive African American
representation called the magical negro. Hughey examined 26 films to understand race relations
and how mainstream audiences interpret the films. He found that the magical negro are placed in
subservient positions and can reaffirm the status quo by changing contemporary racism rather than
showing evidence of racial progress. This literature piece is used to help describe the relationship
between the majority and minority groups within the film, and

Man s Search For Meaning Essay
I am going to guess that the reader of this essay is not a holocaust survivor. I can almost
guarantee it. Although you re not a survivor of one of the most horrific events in history, it does
not mean you will have no feelings about it if you were to hear some stories. I call them stories
because most books written of such detail are mere personal experiences and not factual,
historical information. Speaking of personal experiences, I took the time to read a book about a
man named Viktor Emil Frankl (26 March 1905 2 September 1997).В№ He was an Austrian
neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor. The book is called Man s Search for

Frankl trusted that in spite of the fact that the Nazi s could force much suffering on him, could
rid of his family, and could detain him, they could not choose how he was. He had control over
the way he would act, respond, and carry on. Regardless of what they did, he would choose his
conduct and be in charge of it. My aim is neither to abridge the book for you, nor to clarify the
ideas of existential treatment, so I will move here to my evaluation and reaction to Frankl s
book. To start with, I need to repeat that this book is a superb read. For anybody new to the
outrages of a death camp, the tale of human triumph even with such barbarities alone is justified
regardless of the read. It also gives a rule to engage people to take liability for their life, and to
make importance in it. It gives a model of living over the impact of condition. The initial stage is
portrayed by the indication of shock. Frankl speaks of his entry via train at the notorious
Auschwitz, when he and his kindred detainees underlying stun and frightfulness rapidly offered a
path to the condition known as the delusion of reprieve , the conviction that they would be spared
at last, that things couldn t be as horrendous as they appeared. Frankl portrays how, not for the last
time, he sat tight for destiny to follow through to its logical end as the detainees proceeded
remaining before a SS officer who coolly guided them toward the right, which implied they looked

The Vile Practice Of Sex Selection Abortion
Globally, there are over 200,000,000 missing females in this world (It s a Girl). The number of
females missing is so massive that this genocide is now dubbed the gendercide. 80 percent of
the 200 million missing females are from two countries, one of them being China (Lee 20). For
centuries parents have been trying to choose the sex of their children but the world had never
seen anything quite like this genocide ever before. (Sandel 127). This epidemic is so astounding
and so large that For each decade in the past century, more girls were killed than the sum total of
all those who died in genocides of the entire century (Lee 19). The large sum of Chinese females
missing is likely due to the traditions of Chinese culture, ultrasound... Show more content on

This put immense pressure on females to give birth to males as their social statuses depended on
it. Males are also known to be the preferred sex because they have a higher wage earning capacity
especially since 80% of China s population live in rural areas. Males also continue patriarchal
lines and they have the responsibility of caring for their elderly parents. Many females still face
scrutiny and pressure from relatives and neighbors especially in rural communities where
traditions are followed more strictly. All of these cultural beliefs have contributed to the reason
why sex selection is still a problem today. The spark to this modern gendercide was the
accessibility of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound technology was originally for the use of
identifying genetic abnormalities but was discovered that it could be used to detect the sex of a
fetus (Sandel 127). This technology became available in the mid 1980 s just after the
implementation of the one child rule in China. This new technology meant that people could
determine the sex of the baby before giving birth giving rise to sex selection abortions in China.
This has ultimately caused the extreme skew in the ratio of males to females in Chinese
population. The more available ultrasound technology became, the more people found out they
were having girls instead of boys. Therefore, those having females aborted their fetuses while those
who were carrying males had their babies. China is now

the life of Tita de la Garza, the youngest daughter in the family thus forced to obey the law laid

The only one who resisted, the only one who said the word without the proper deference was Tita,
which had earned her plenty of slaps. But how perfectly she had said it this time! Mama Elena took
comfort in the hope that she had finally managed to subdue her youngest daughter. (Esquivel 13)
This passage gives the reader an initial insight on the central conflict in the novel, Tita s fight for
freedom from Mama Elena s suppression. Mama Elena is portrayed to have characteristics
which resemble to that of the stereotypically domineering, abusive male figure. Tita must tread
waters very carefully when she is anywhere near Mama Elena, otherwise she would be beaten for
any reason. Yet as the novel progresses, Tita undergoes a change due to exposure and desire. With
the introduction of Pedro (Tita s lover who ends up marrying Tita s sister), Tita experiences new
emotions, desire and lust. Previous to meeting Pedro, Tita never felt the desire to defy Mama
Elena, yet her new found love lust for Pedro gave her a reason to rebel. The introduction of the
emotion of desire, a need sparked the flame of change in Tita. This concept of women in
oppression finding something to strive for, even at a risk, gives women courage. As the age, old
saying goes if they can do it so can I . By creating a relatable scenario, Esquivel hopes to show
women that even if the task seems too great to overcome, they

Simplifying Expressions
While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and
multiplication, such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s
common about these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step
will always be to remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always
be combining like terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week
which is dealing with real numbers.
Here is the solution to the first problem:
2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5)
=2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4в‹…5
=2a^2 10a+4a 20
=2a^2 6a 20
The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows:
First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative
numbers.
20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m)
The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients:
0.05в‹…0.3m+0.05в‹…35n 0.8в‹…( 0.09n) 0.8в‹…( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m
The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form:
0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n
The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n
In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using
distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property
of addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that
in the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so
this problem set teaches us how to operate using both integer and non integer real

Samurai Kyuzo Character Traits
Kyuzo is a very interesting character in Akira Kurosawa s The Seven Samurai (1954). Kyuzo is
first introduced to the audience during a duel with another Samurai. Kambei s eyes are locked on
Kyuzo as he shows tremendous swordsmanship, skills not many samurai would accomplish in a
lifetime. Kyuzo at first rejects the offer of joining the samurai, however, he later changes his mind.
Through his serious, cold face it is hard to breakdown Kyuzo s character, nonetheless, we soon see
the true qualities of his personality. Courage and rectitude are the most valuable bushido virtues
Kyuzo holds. Throughout the movie Kyuzo makes some every decisive decisions, while also

Linking a specific bushido virtue with Kikuchiyo could either be hard or easy depending on
how one may look at his attributes, however respect is one virtue Kikuchiyo shows in a not so
obvious manner. In Dave Kehr s Calling All Samurai Avengers: Your Anime Has Arrived he
wrote Kikuchiyo, regrettably, turns out not to be a colorful drunk, but a hulking, lunkheaded,
poorly assembled robot, who has the rasping, braggart voice (Christopher R. Sabat) of a
professional wrestler, and the impulse control to match . Although it is easy to see Kikuchiyo is
not a polished samurai warrior, he holds some valuable character traits which ultimately provide
aid for both the bandits, and the famers. Although he was never formally added to the group of
Samurai by Kambei, Kikuchiyo showed his worthiness during the scene when the samurai arrive
at the village. Great tension could be felt between both the famers and samurai until this was
broken by Kikuchiyo s humorous character. The first sign of respect shown towards Kikuchiyo
was by Heihachi as he said, I guess we re really seven now (Kurosawa 63), formally admitting
Kikuchiyo to the group. Kikuchiyo without a doubt shows great bravery and courage throughout

years of civilization, Africans have witnessed and contributed to the productivity of the human
existence. The great salt and gold kingdoms of the Ghanaian and Malian Empires thrived long
before the Hapsburg and Bourbon dynasties rules Spain and France, respectively. Yet, the
contributions of those great African civilizations were often ignored in the historiography of early
civilizations. Even the contributions of the Ancient Egyptians have become part of the ensemble of
the Greek and Roman tragedy, removing Egypt from the history of Africa. The contributions of
Black Americans in the history of the United States were virtually absent prior to the creation of
Black Study programs and departments. The assumption of Black history was that it included the
300 plus years of enslavement, the Civil War (where student are indoctrinated to believe that
President Lincoln intended on freeing Blacks) and then the more

Std Chlamydia Research Paper
Sexually transmitted diseases is really important and everyone should know that status. After
reading this chapter it really open my eyes statically. I was disbelief about how common many
sexually transmitted diseases is. Sexually disease infections is passed through sexual contact.
Chlamydia, , Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Genital Warts, Genital Herpes, Acquired Immune Deficiencey.
Many of these disease can be transmitted during vaginal, oral, or anal sexual contact with an
infected partner. Bacterial STD Chlamydia is a STD that is found in many young people. Juvenile

Syphilis is also a bacteria disease that progress through stages. If this does not be treated it can
be deadly. This disease began to rise in 2000. The disease double in gay men in 199 (4%) to
(10%) in 2004. This disease is most in urban areas. Also in china 15% of women mostly
prostitution is affected with disease. I agree to target certain groups to help decrease this
disease, because this is a serious STD even though all of them are this one seem to have the most
problems. The viral STDs genital warts, genital herpes and AID/HIV are not curable. In U.S
25% of women between 20 and 29 years of age, and 10% of women over 30 have HPV. Genitals
warts is caused by HPV. Genital Herpes and STD that is caused by herpes simplex virus. This is
painful blisters on the genital. In the U.S 21% adults have this viruses. That like 45 million
people. This all just realistically made me open my eyes and see how many people are affected
and to take every precaution I can to be safe. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is the worst
kind of STD you can have. This is cause by HIV. This weakens the immune system. This the body
cannot fight off other infections. From this date 25 million people died from this disease and more
than 40 million people still live with it. Which is 80%

Essay about Gender Bias Critic of Antigone
A Gender Bias Approach to Antigone
Just as one stone removed can break a bridge, one flaw can bring a man to ruins. The flaw of one
man cannot bring down an entire kingdom, but rather one outlook of the king can lead to the
demise of the whole. In Sophocles epic tragedy, Antigone, a strong gender bias is present
throughout the tragedy, and is partially responsible for the downfall of the king.
To Sophocles the king is not always representative of the people, but acts on his own personal
desires and judgments. Sophocles was born in 496 B.C. and from 490 B.C. until 442 B.C. when the
first performance of Antigone at the Dionysian theater; there had been many wars in the Greek and
Persian history. These ongoing battles would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until 442 B.C. that he wrote Antigone, with an even greater allusion to the role of women.
Before Antigone begins, the two brothers of Antigone are engaged in a battle no only of land,
but of power. Their deep desires to rule Thebes and male dominating ego, only lead to their
deaths; a tragedy that would affect more than just themselves. The battle of glory for men would
not be the same for their sisters, but in 442 B.C. as Sophocles illustrates, the living women
would have to deal with the tragedies of the dead; a task not easy to be burdened with as woman.
Their uncle, Creon, dominates Antigone and her sister Ismene to the extent of mourning their
own brother s death. Antigone has chosen a fate without glory: I ll suffer nothing as great as
death without glory, (Antigone line 112). Only a male in this time could die with honor and
glory, and just as her uncle has forced a death without glory for her brother, although a glorious
death is honorable, she has decided it a better life to die without glory than dishonor her blood
and the gods. Ismene does not wish to go against the laws of her uncle, for women were not born
to contend with men, but between the bond of her and Antigone, she will defy the king(line 75).
Ismene is just as horrified about the edict as Antigone is, but asks what they weak women can do.
During this era the women had a specific role, and to defy that role would be horrific enough,

The World s Biggest Trader
Introduction Accounting for 20 percent of global imports and exports, the European Union
(EU) is the world s biggest trader. This should not come as a surprise because free trade among
its members is one of the founding principles of the EU. With trade policy being in the exclusive
jurisdiction of the EU, this creates new market opportunities for European exporters, workers
and investors. The creation of this global market also creates the need for the EU to protect the
interest of its 28 members from serious injury by resolving trade issues that go far beyond tariffs.
The Safeguards Agreement (SG Agreement) sets forth the rules for application of Safeguard
measures pursuant to Article XIX of the Global Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994.
These measures are temporary, emergency actions resulting in import restrictions that a country is
allowed to impose on a product if imports of that product are or have the potentiality to cause a
serious injury to a domestic injury of a directly competitive product. Safeguards are one of three
types of contingent trade protection measures, along with anti dumping and countervailing
measures, available to WTO Members. Imagine Company X, who exports sneakers to a country
Y. If country X imports sneakers in numbers in such ways that it affects the level of sales for the
domestic producer of sneakers in Country Y. Country Y may consider implementing a raise in
tariffs on sneakers so that Country Y s domestic producers may keep

Was the mongol empire a positive or negative impact on the history of Asia? I would say that the

very powerful. When you rule a very large empire it can be hard to control so the people that
rebelled against Genghis Khan were killed.
Document #2 talks about the people in charge. This document is positive because Genghis Khan
had a very large empire and if someone ran away the person in charge of them would be

charge of maybe ten people and those ten would be in charge of maybe another ten and so on.
Document #6 talks about people adapting to the Mongol Empire and the benefits of the silk

the problem was that the deliverers kept getting murdered and the silk stolen so the mongols lent a

Immigration And Migration During The Vietnam War
Immigration and Migration have greatly impacted Minnesota history from the state s beginning to
the present. The impact of migration from the end of the 1800s to the Vietnam War to today has
brought social, cultural, and political changes that have shaped the state. Within each time period,
different ethnic groups migrated to Minnesota, including: Europeans, Africans, and Asians. People
of different backgrounds moved to the same location, bringing their culture, views and beliefs with
them. The migration periods: the iron range from the end of the 1800s to 1920, after the end of the
Vietnam War, and today contain similarities and differences. There s no doubt that the migration of
people has greatly influenced the present, as will the migration of people today influence the future.
The Age of mass Migration took place in 1880 1924; it was a migration primarily of people from
Southern and Eastern Europe. During the early twentieth century, the population of the Iron Range
was among the most ethnically diverse in Minnesota. Tens of thousands of immigrants arrived from
over thirty places of origin during the early twentieth century to the Iron Range in Minnesota. They
mined ore in the Iron Range, building its communities.
Minnesota has the following iron ranges: The Vermillion, the Mesabi Range, and the Cuyuna. are
collectively known as the Iron Range. The Vermilion, located in the northern part of the state, began
its ore shipment in 1884. The Mesabi Range was the most

Julie he immediately seems to fall in love at first sight.
The main film style in Tootsie is seeing TV on TV. Since much of the film setting is the recording
of the soap opera it is shot sometimes where the audience is seeing what is going on through a
screen on TV or its shot as though you are watching the soap opera as the soap opera and not as
part of the movie.
Compared to later films with men dressing as women for some purpose or another Tootsie set the
trend. Like Mrs. Doubtfire a man dresses as a woman for a reason. This creates humor as well as
sympathy in some ways that the man must go that far to achieve what he is after.
I found the Tootsie to be a very entertaining film. Besides the fact that it was funny to see what he
had to go through to appear as a woman but as the woman she was very outspoken. On the show
he took everyone by surprise because it was a soft spoken older woman speaking her mind that
stood up to everyone.
I think this film was great because first of all it was genuinely funny. Second, the film takes a man
that discovers that being a woman has made him a better man. Finally

The Media Of Teen Drug Abuse
What causes the negative stigma among African American teenagers in the media regarding
teen drug abuse, and does this stereotype hold any ground? We chose to research this topic
because of the common stigma that the media portrays on every day African American teens,
and we wanted to know how this effects their everyday lives, like how they are treated because
of this stigma. Further research in this area could be a step forward into eliminating every day
stereotypes and helping take another step towards equality in the United States. It is important as
a sociologist to research these issues so that society can take steps forward to a more equal and
understanding society. We plan to address this issue in a way that could help readers understand
the stigma these stereotypes have on teens, and how it effects the way they experience life as a
whole. Social problems are what affect us in today s society and when Media today portrays
African Americanteens as lazy, and violent drugusers many actually take these stereotypes to heart.

Totalitarianism And The Government s Lies And Propaganda
Vu 1 Joyce Vu Mr. Jacques ENG4U1 f January 12, 2014 Totalitarianism in 1984 and We: When
2+2 = X When the government s lies and propaganda are embedded in everyday life, how can
one find the strength to rebel? The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s
1984, and Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that
the entire city be made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of
numbers. The inner party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak,
believe they are satisfied, and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is
a large part contribution to the success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking
away the individuality of the person and replace it with undying love for big brother. However
all governments have a crack, a glitch that can prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how
seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack, there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just
as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to have jurisdiction over the human
mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the government. Brainwashing will help
to avoid future uprisings or disputes against the state. In 1984, the citizens of Oceania worship Big
Brother where as in We, they worship The Benefactor. In both cases, these godlike figures prove to
play a crucial role in uniting the countries.

Holes Character Analysis
Stanley Yelnats is the main character in the book Holes, written by Louis Sachar. Stanley is an
overweight 14 year old boy who has to spend 18 months at Camp Green Lake, a juvenile
correctional facility, because he is wrongly accused for stealing the shoes of the famous baseball
player, Clyde Livingston. In the book, the author portrays Stanley as a young boy who is
unlucky because of a family curse. However, during his stay at Camp Green Lake, Stanley
discovers other traits about himself that he didn t know that he had. In addition to his unlucky
trait, bravery and kindness are also characteristics that can be used to describe Stanley. Stanley
considers himself an unlucky person. He thinks that he and his family have been cursed because
of his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather. Stanley is unlucky because he does
not have any friends at school, his teachers sometimes make hurtful comments about him, his
family is poor, he lives in a small apartment, and his father is an unsuccessful inventor. What
makes Stanley feel really unlucky is that he s being punished for a crime he did not commit.
Stanley did not steal Clyde Livingston s shoes. He happened to be walking under an overpass when
the shoes fell on him. Unfortunately, since the shoes happened to be in his hands when the police
showed up, he was found guilty and sent to Camp Green Lake. On page 7, the author points out that
Stanley has this unlucky trait about him by stating that

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis

Written Task 2
Title of the text for analysis: A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams. 2004.
Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study
Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way?
My critical response will:
в—ЏShow how the males are portrayed in the text
в—ЏShow how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is
в—ЏShow how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is
In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta,
omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights
they hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are
set up in the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand.
The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For
example,in the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to
pay bills himself. (pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control .
The author wants the audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and
what he want has to be done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch
as a very soft, awkward man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you
a sugar tit. (pg 48). The quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own
and he still is a baby and lives off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used
different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are
always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And
last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t
care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and they try to not interfere in much of what goes
on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced, pinioned by the two men, into the
bedroom. (pg 63).
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stanley is to be seen and known as to the most dominant

Tanzania s Climate Essay
Tanzania s Climate
Tanzania represents a wealth of ecological diversity, ethnic diversity, and geographical diversity. It
contains both the tallest mountain in Africa as well as the largest lake, and is a tourist hotspot for
safaris and expeditions to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The citizens of Tanzania are utterly dependent on the
weather for their two major businesses, agriculture and tourism. Thus, the climate of Tanzania is
worth examining in greater detail.
Tanzania has two distinct seasons, wet and dry. However, the northern region of Tanzania can
experience two wet seasons, the longest of which spans from March to May and the shortest from
November to December. The March to May period is known as the long rains , during which ...

The land of Tanzania, apart from Mt. Kilimanjaro, is relatively flat, with part of the East African
plateau of about 1200 m above sea level making up most of the geography. Therefore, topographic
influences do not play much of a part in regulating the creation of storm fronts there. The climate,
while tropical, is best described as semi arid, with average temperatures between 76 to 85 degrees
Fahrenheit.
When I recorded Tanzania s weather (specifically that of its capital, Dodoma) for ten weeks, I
noticed very little precipitation (less than one inch during the ten weeks). It is true that the
country was at that time undergoing its dry season, but the absolute lack of precipitation was
surprising to me. The stark contrast between the dry and wet seasons can have severe
consequences. If the wet season begins with a sudden, heavy rainfall, there is a large danger of
damage to the crops, since the vegetation cover is often scanty, so that there is little protection
against soil erosion when the rains start (Nieuwolt 241 250). In March of 1973, such a situation
occurred and the sudden start to the rainy season washed away an entire season s worth of crops,
to the devastation of the agricultural economy (Nieuwolt). Soil erosion is a prevalent problem in
Tanzania, not only to farmers but also to the general populace, who might just find their homes
washed away with the first rainfall of the wet season. At this time, little is being done

Essay on The Impact of Refugees on a Society
The Impact of Refugees on a Society
The argument that refugees have a negative effect on society has been a topic of great debate for
many years, both in the UK and across many other countries. Almost since time began, the human
race has had problems when the situation in their area has changed for the worse, and they have
had to make tough decisions about where they should go next, and the problem has never been a
more prominent issue than in today s society. It is an argument with two clearly defined sides. On
one hand, the refugees, tortured, poverty stricken and living in fear day and night. On the other

Many of the asylum applications in the last three months have not come from Europe, but from
Africa and Asia. Statistics show that applications from the rest of the EU fell by 14% compared to
the previous three months. Top nationalities for asylum applications were nations where politics
and poverty have forced people to move out, such as Iran, Zimbabwe and Iraq. Every year, tens and
thousands of these refugees pour into Britain, seeking aid and support, but should they leave their
country? Is the situation in their country really bad enough to make them have the right to move
here?
The main opposition to refugees coming to the UK is not the Tories or any Government party, but
the British taxpayer. Almost weekly, a new story hits the headlines detailing more statistics to

Westboro Formation
The Proterozoic Westboro Formation (ca. 800 Ma), composed of massive quartzites and

and metamorphism during the Proterozoic. Of notable interest are 1 to 3 meter wide, N NE
striking, shallow dipping mylonitic zones exposed in and around the Breakheart Reservation in
Saugus, MA. At one location blocks of eroded mylonite are contained in a Westboro debrite. A
possible interpretation is that mylonites exposed along a rift basin border fault were eroded and

AMS analyses were useful in redefining the principal foliation, but did not aid in determining
lineations or direction of shear sense. Nevertheless, these analyses in combination with local
mapping tentatively point to the following sequence of events: 1) deposition of the Westboro; 2)
greenschist facies metamorphism forming the principal foliation; 3) contact metamorphism,
recorded by the formation of large cordierite porphyblasts; 4) mylonitization; 5) extrusion and
deposition of overlying felsic flows and pyroclastic deposits; 6) intrusion of the Dedham granite
(ca. 610 Ma) and possible retrograde metamorphism of porphryblasts; 7) additional contact
metamorphism, recorded by unaltered cordierite aggregates rimming porphyroblasts; and 8) brittle
deformation evidenced by thin bands of cataclasite in the Dedham. Rotated porphyroblasts and S C
fabrics in the mylonites record a dextral transpressive sense of motion possibly along a restraining

How Does Maria Develop

on The Story of the Trapp Family Singers . People of the world liked the story very much, and

In the beginning of the story, Maria is introduced as a sister in Nonnberg Abbey, Salzburg,

she caused a lot of trouble and not everyone s favorite, the other sisters tried to treat her nicely.

Throughout this section I will be explaining the connection between the eruption of the Tambora
Volcano and the literature and art of the time. One of the major pieces of gothic literature at the
time was the book Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley. In the article The Volcano that Shrouded
the Earth and Gave Birth to a Monster written by Gillen D Arcy Wood the author states Mary
Shelley s storm lashed novel Frankenstein bears the imprint of the Tambora summer of 1816, and
her literary coterie which included the poets Percy Shelley and Lord Byron serve as tour guides
through the suffering world scape of 1815 18. The Novel Frankenstein connects with the eruption
and the year without summer that the eruption caused. The novel was written during a time of
darkness do to the massive amounts of ash that was sent into the atmosphere by the volcano. The
connection is evident in the novel, where in the introduction she wrote it had been a wet, ungenial
summer, and incessant rain often confines us for days to the house, which related to the gloominess
that the volcano caused in the years following the eruption. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein relates to
the period of darkness caused by the

Renaissance Jousting And Fencing Essay
Renaissance Jousting and fencing John choi pr 1
One of the earliest forms of weapon to weapon combat was jousting and fencing. Jousting was
one of the earliest forms of horseback combat for soldiers, before it was even a sport, and fencing
dates back to the Egyptians as an early fighting style. The art of jousting involves the use of a
lance which was a long pointed spear with a cone all the way to the base of the handle and fencing
required a Rapier, which was a thin long sword that was more of a jabbing weapon than a slicing
weapon. These two martial arts have been through lots of changes throughout the renaissance.

Fencing has always been regarded as more than a sport; it is an art form, an ancient symbol of
power and glory, and a deeply personal, individual form of expression.В The lance or Pike was a
cone like spear that was to be used on a horseback knight and was used as the leading charge in
the cavalry. On the back of the shaft where pole meets spear there was a guard called a Vamplate
to prevent the hand from sliding into the spear, after the Pike had hit the target. The lance was
typically not used in close range melee due to its tremendous weight and size and the lancers,
would always carry a small sword, or mace for had to hand combat when they were off of the
horse. The Fencing sword or Rapier is a thin long pointed sword that was mostly used as a
jabbing weapon than the traditional slicing weapon. The Rapier relied on quick thrusts the pierce
open spots on ones armor. The Rapier consists of the blade; hilt and handle like traditional swords
except the Rapier had a very thin blade, with a complex guard that was used to protect the hand

Let There Be Light Lamp Shade Company Essay
According to Murphy amp; Wood (2011), Let There Be Light Lamp Shade Company serves an
upscale local market and is currently placing a bid for several public buildings in Asia. Total of
5,400 identical lights will be installed and delivered to the foreign port where the buyer would
take possession. Let There Be Light Lamp Shade Company has three styles of lamp shades. In
order to determine the best possible bid, the company will determine how many lamp shades can
fit in the intermodal container and the total cost of delivering for style A, B, and C lamp shades.
The interior dimensions of the intermodal container are 8 feet wide by 8.5 feet high by 40 feet

The cost of ocean freight rates is $2,970. Adding the figures together brings the total costs of
delivering for style A shades to the port of importation to $31,366.80. Style B lamp shades cost $5
per lamp shade for a total cost of $27,000. The packaging of the style B lamp shade is $1,800 ($2 x
900). It will take two loads to the Port of Oakland for a total of $2,000. Insurance for style B lamp
shade will cost $616 because the total cost thus far is $30,800 time 2% of the value of the
shipment. The ocean freight rate cost is $1,960; for a total cost of delivering of $33,376. For style
C lamp shades, the cost per shade for manufacturing is $6 for a total of $32,400 and the total
packaging cost is $1,620. Again, two loads will be needed to deliver to the Port of Oakland for a
total of $2,000. The insurance for style C lamps shades is $720 ($36,020 x .02). The ocean
freight rate cost is $1,238. The total cost of deliver the style C shades to the port of importation is
$37,978. Thus, style A lamp shades would be preferred because it the least expensive out of all
three styles.
In conclusion, Let There Be Light Lamp Shade Company will be placing a bid for large public
buildings in Asia. After analyzing how many lamps shades can be loaded into the intermodal
container and the total cost of delivering, the company will be placing a bid with style A lamp
shades.

Analysis Of Robert Moses s Master Builder
Robert Moses also known as, New York s Master Builder , was born on December 18,1888 in
Connecticut. He grew up in New York City after his family relocated in 1897 . In 1924, Moses
became President of Long Island State Park Commission and since than, held power until 1968,
when the Rockefellers started possessing all the power. Robert Moses accomplished a lot of
construction in New York that was seen as negative and positive by many people. He built 658
playgrounds, 36,000 acres of parkland, 416 miles of parkway, 13 bridges, and 15 expressways.
Robert Moses was unstoppable during his time in power. During the summer of 1950, Robert
Moses held more official power than anyone in New York s history ; he had control over the $25
million that flowed through its tollbooths each year . However, Robert Moses also used his
power to upset many people, in particular people in lower incomes. Moses was known for putting
families out of their existing homes for a better housing program that supposedly benefit them but
in reality it was a complete nightmare. The projects in Harlem are hated. They are hated almost as

Women s Role In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley
Mary Shelley views women s roles and values in society with a comprehensive perspective,
entailing both positive and negative aspects. She exposes the patriarchal society that is oppressive
to women in a subtle but powerful manner. This paper will discuss her opinions on women in her
current society and their relevance in today s world.
The first woman we are introduced to in the novel is Caroline Beaufort. She lives with her father,
and after the loss of his wealth through ailments, Caroline is forced to resort to plain work of
plaiting straw. She lives in abject poverty, and this will later influence her compassionate nature for
the poor. She is saved from poverty by getting married to Frankenstein s father. This seems to

She is praising her fellow woman for being passive. Mary Poovey argues that Shelley spent her life
balancing between an urge to write which requires self assertion and an urge to assimilate to the
societal expectations of feminine passivity. (Poovey). She even wrote the book Frankenstein, but it
had to be published under the anonymity of the author. Another point on women s submissiveness
is brought out by Justine the servant who despite having committed no crime is sentenced to death
and accepts her demise without defiance. She says I must be condemned, although I would pledge
my salvation on my innocence despite the injustice she faces. The same reality exists today wherein
women are expected to play a passive role and support their husbands blindly. Furthermore, society
tends to shun strong women who can voice their opinions and fight

Peace Like A River Quotes
You ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself. This quote is from the
Wizard Of Oz. It talks about courage to people who don t think they can do these things. This
quote is very important if someone doesn t think they can do something but needs to or wants
to. I read the book Peace Like A River by Leif Enger. This quote ties to the book because It is
about a family who has a son who kills two people who were stalking their home. The son then
goes off to jail, and breaks out. The rest of the family goes off on a long road trip to try to find
their son, Davy. This part reminds me of the Wizard of Oz because Dorthy goes on a long trip
on the yellow brick road to find the Wizard. In the end, things don t turn out as planned but some
things get better. In this book, many people display courage. But, Davy has the most courage. He
had courage when he: killed the two boys, escaped jail, and was on his own for his whole life....

Goose Hollow Reflection
For my neighborhood study of Goose Hollow, I completed a research project to answer my
research question, What is day to day life like in Goose Hollow? . This paper will reveal the story
of my data through showing common themes between my research team s data to highlight
noticeable conclusions drawn from my research methodologies.
In analyzing my data, it is important to note my positionality. I am a nineteen year old female
college student living in a downtown area of a city. I identify as being middle class, Jewish,
heterosexual, and Latina. These key aspects of identity were important to take into consideration
while collecting and analyzing my data because it can affect interpretation. For my research in
Goose Hollow specifically, my social location as a middle class Latina was the most relevant. An
awareness of the tensions inherent in research, and reflection on these tensions is important
(McAullffe and Coleman, 2008, pg. 26). Being aware of my social location and following the
ethics and protocol necessary in a research project, allowed me to be reflexive during my study.
When making conclusions about my data to determine the narrative, I looked at how every research
methodology contributed to the themes of my neighborhood. In the very act of constructing data
out of experience, the qualitative researcher singles out some things as worthy of note and
relegates others to the background (Wolcott, 1994, pg. 13). For the purpose of my paper, I chose
to focus on two themes but that does not discredit the rest of my data. The two themes that
appeared in all the data shared between my research team, were the ideas that Goose Hollow
serves as an in between place for people trying to get from point A to point B and the active
gentrification present in the neighborhood. To begin, I focused on participant observation
methodology. The physical location and businesses of Goose Hollow makes it a convenient place
for people to stop. The grab and go pizza place, Starbucks, corner store, and many modes of
transportation make it a hub for commuters in their day to day life. When analyzing my group s
data, a considerable amount of instances relating to transportation were observed. Ellen Koukel

The Disaster Of South America And Asia Experience A...
Landslides The Oso landslide in Seattle, Washington took 43 lives in 2014. (Metcalfe, 2015)
New technology is used to determine the areas that a potential landslide could occur. A landslide
is a shift of land down a slope. Using geographic information systems to determine the probability
of landslides can save lives. North America experiences relatively less landslides than countries
in South America and Asia. Steep slopes, excessive rainfall, unstable soil, and seasonal dry
periods are the main reasons that South America and Asia experience a greater number of
landslides than North America. (Shahabi, 2015) In North America, Seattle experiences the
most landslides with over 100 since 2007. (Metcalfe, 2015) Seattle experiences large amounts of
rainfall and is prone to steamrolling walls of muddy debris. (Metcalfe, 2015) Geographic
information systems(GIS) allows us to visualize and interpret data to determine if a pattern is
forming. GIS is used to compare different alternativities to help support a decision. (DeMeritt,
2013) GIS maps are formed to help show possible landslide areas. (DeMeritt, 2013) The maps are
formed by using remote sensing, satellite images, and aerial views. (Shahabi, 2015) The caution
areas are usually on large slopes, the edges of cliffs, or areas with little to no vegetation.
Individuals can take necessary precautions when warned about a possible landslide. The goal is to
save lives and prevent injuries. When a large storm is noticed, the areas prone

self help program supported by text messaging, as an adjunct to smoking cessation education
offered in the primary care setting. The authors report smoking cessation offered in the primary
care setting varies widely but research showed the added option of a self help program for
patients produces a cessation rate of as much as twice the rate of those patients who were given
only in office education (Naughton et al.). I find the validity of this study plausible as the
participants were randomized into two groups with one being offered usual care and the second
group being offered usual care plus the iQuit system. The authors completed

Cultural Tension In Rocky IV And Office Space
Throughout history, Americans have dealt with cultural and social tensions in a number of ways.
For several decades, the nation was manipulated by fear and paranoia as the shadow of Soviet
influence continued to loom large in everyone s life. Rocky IV (1985) is an American sports film
written by, directed, and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocky IV tells the story of world champion
American boxer Rocky Balboa(Stallone) seeking to avenge the death of a friend and defend his
country s honor by daring to travel to the Soviet Union and fight their best athlete on enemy soil.
Director Mike Judge s 1999 comedy filmOffice Space depicts a different kind of enemy in modern
America, as it satirizes the daily grind of a typical software company and its disgruntled employees
in the 1990s. By incorporating real world elements of cultural tension, immersing the viewer into an
all too familiar environment, and mirroring the mentality of society during their respective times,
Rocky IV and Office Space effectively inspire and educate each viewer in their own unique ways....

The Legal Concepts Of An Offer Essay
a)Common Law Offer The Legal Concepts of an Offer An offer is a conditional promise made
by the offeror to the offeree. The offeror will not be bound by her or his promise unless the
offeree responds to it in the manner sought by the offeror. That is why it is said the offer is
conditional. In the other word, the definition of an offer is a statement made by an offeror that he
or she is prepared to be bound to a contractual position the first essential element to the meeting of
the minds of the contracting parties. The Requirement of an Offer 1)Present intention to contract
The language used in an offer should present a commitment or undertaking. 2)Definiteness An offer
should be definite and should be made under such circumstances that the person receiving the offer
has reason to believe that the offeror is willing to deal on the terms indicated. 3)Proper Party
Involving two parties: the offeror and offeree. An offer creates in someone the power to accept,
therefore, the communication must sufficiently identify the offeree or the class from whom the
offeree may emerge. b)Common Law Acceptance The Legal Concepts of an Acceptance An
acceptance is a statement by one party (offeree) that he or she is willing/ prepared to be bound by
the terms of the offer, the second essential element to the meeting of the minds of the contracting
party. The Requirement of an Acceptance In acceptance, there must be a clear indication of intent

Schemas Child Development
Mental frame work or ways we organizing thoughts around aspects of the world are called
schemas. We have schemas about people, objects around our lives, and situations. Prior knowledge
can shape how we memorize and retain for long term storage and future knowledge. In the next
few paragraphs I will discuss in detail how child development theorist, Jean Piaget, believed these
schemas developed. For Piaget, schemas are the mental structures in which we organize our
knowledgeof the world (Robson, pg. 17). An example of an initial schema is when a child begins
to understand what a cat is from a picture book that is being read by a parent. The parent may
continue reading about what a cat looks like. At this time, a schema is forming.... Show more

To begin with, Piaget s theory on the four stages of cognitive development has been highly
researched. He put little to no emphasis on social factors in his theory and came to the conclusion
that children do not think like adults and do not learn from them but by interacting with their
physical environment. Vygotsky, on the other hand, differed from Piaget s thought and believed
children learned mostly from others and he called this process, Scaffolding. According to Eutopia
website, scaffolding is a teaching strategy that provides individualize support based on the learner s
zone of proximal development (Eutopia, 2015). Proximal development is the distance between the
actual developmental level as determine by independent problem solving and the level of potential
development as determine through problem solving under adult guidance or in collaboration with
more capable peers (Bruner,1982). He believed knowledge comes from experiences within their
culture and strongly thought that learning came from the outside in. On the other hand, Piaget
theory stated that children are only able to perform in certain cognitive stages. He found that human
understood whatever information that fit into their view of the world. When information does not
fit, then individuals examine and accommodate the new information, is similar to Piaget s theory on

  • 3. Fifty JFK Conspiracy Clues Essays FIFTY JFK CONSPIRACY CLUES The Rosetta Stone of the JFK Assassination is the famous photograph, by James Ike Altgens, which was taken about one second after the throat wound of JFK, since it is the only photo in the public files that shows a motorcycle escort cop next to the limousine during the final 30 seconds. Many Zapruder Film frames were blocked by a Freeway sign and some Z frame lines move, upwards, near the final shot and hide something with the frame lines. Therefore, if you cross reference the following photos to each other by time and by angles, you may conclude, as I have, that the Stemmons Freeway Sign was moved or added to the Zapruder Film to censor the action near the limousine during the assassination plot.... • 4. Deaf Again By Mark Drolsbaugh Essay In Mark Drolsbaugh s educational and witty autobiography Deaf Again , he describes his journey as a child born to deaf parents, losing his own hearing in his childhood, and navigating both hearing and deaf worlds while trying to discover his identity. In the first chapter, Drolsbaugh tells the story of his own childbirth. His mother Sherry s childbirth experience was traumatic, to say the very least. Her needs and comfort were disregarded repeatedly by doctors and nurses alike, simply because they could not and chose not to try to understand her. This ignorance and disregard could have caused a woman to be inadvertently suffocated, if her Deaf husband had not been there to understand what was happening and put a stop to it. While one may hope that such a terrible experience would not occur today, it is unfortunately still possible. Communication barriers can be a matter of life or death, and when hospitals do not provide Sign Language interpreters to be present for deaf patients during childbirth, despite the fact that the Equality Act is supposed to require this. the worst could happen. Unfortunately, while times have changed since 1966, this does not ensure that all deaf patients will be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. It is not unheard of for a child to be born to two deaf parents, and while the child receives medical treatment, the parents are left in the dark about what is happening with their baby because the hospital staff cannot (or, one could ... • 5. What Does Success Mean To Me Research Paper Success is a small word with a great meaning to it. According to Urban Dictionary, success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. But does it have the same meaning for everyone? To me, success is making my father feel proud of me by fulfilling his dream, which is to do something meaningful with my life and to see me become something in my life. Attaining success requires laborious training, but it is not impossible if you work hard of it. When I was 15 years old, my father, who was everything to me, died from a heart attack. Endicott College is a great place that can give wings to my dream, the dream of making my father proud of me. Through Endicott College, I can share my knowledge with the world and become successful. • 6. Difference Between The Entertainment And Media Culture The Entertainment and Media Culture Cherie Belcher HUM/186 12/18/2017 Allyson Wells The Entertainment and Media Culture There are many different forms of entertainment media that has made an impact on the American culture. However, the one I feel that has made the biggest impact on American culture is the music industry. I say that because, if you look at the music from the 50 s and the 60 s, the music was smooth, it spoke to the teens and the adults in a certain way, the kids danced in a calm manner, they danced in a respectful manner. In the 70 s and 80 s, the music took on a distinctive style, therefore, the dances and the clothing took on a different style. The clothing began to show body parts, the stomach was the main part that showed. In the 50 s and 60 s you just did not do that. You kept your body covered. When the music changed, the kids changed. In the 80 s and 90 s, it took on more of a drastic change. Rap came on the scene, as well as, the disco era. When this era came about, the kids changed even more. Their clothing, haircuts, and even their language changed. It got to be such a drastic change where men were wearing makeup and as much jewelry as the women were. Then came the Gangsta Rap, which brought about the gang scene. Everybody was wearing their clothes extra big and baggy. The wearing of a certain color meant you represented a certain gang and the wearing of your cap meant something else, however, it all represented gang signs. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a boy, he was interested in horror books. He wrote some stories himself, just for fun, and he never stopped. In 1996 he published the green mile, (a movie was made later on). The story is about the John Coffey and his execution in E block at Cold Mountain State Penitentiary. Hal Moores is the warden of the penitentiary, his wife is very sick. Paul Edgecomb is the head of E block and a friend of Moores. E block is where they keep the death row prisoners and perform capital punishment. Before Percy ruined his execution Paul and Brutus had promised to take care of Mr. Jingles. John Coffey was convicted of the rape and murder of two tiny farm girls. He is as big as a giant, but he isn t scary. Unexpectedly the man is scared of the dark and holds magical powers. He makes many friends on E block, they are fascinated by his magic and kindness. John gave some of his magic to Paul and Mr. Jingles causing them both to live an unnaturally long life. At his execution Paul shook his hand one last time. The first and most noticeable difference between the movie and book is how the story is told. At the nursing home Paul has a friend, Elaine. In the movie he tells her what happened because it upset him. While in the book he writes the story and lets her read it. The book often comes back to the elderly Paul and sees how he s doing, in the movie we only see him in the beginning and the end. For some reason the directors of the movie decided to leave out Janet s death. I think that part was very important and it helped us understand what Paul has to go through with his long life ... • 9. Pros And Cons Of Organ Donation To Donate Your Organs or To Not? Organ donation is an increasing practice in the medical field, which saves countless lives every year. Patients who are eligible for organ transplantation have an organ in their body that has either failed or works improperly and requires a new organ to be enable their body to work properly again. This problem can happen to people of any age from young children all the way to the elderly. Organ donors, either after death or alive, supply these people with a better functioning organ through donation. On the downside, there are not enough people willing to donate as there are patients in need. Every patient requiring an organ gets put on a list, where they wait for their opportunity to receive an organ, but many people die due to the amount of time this takes. This amount of time would dramatically decrease if more people were willing to donate. One single deceased organ donor can save the lives of several different people and affect the lives of countless. Giving someone a chance at a new healthy and happy life is honorable and commendable. On one side, donating is interpreted as just giving a piece of lungs to another person, but to the receiver it s a miracle and a life changing experience. Furthermore, organ donation is totally free of charge to the donor and if a person donates after death many areas offer free cremation. One of the most reputable arguments against organ donations is the believe that doctors or nurses will not attempt to save your life as they would if you were not a donor. This believe is completely false. A medical physician will always do absolutely everything in their ability to save their patient(s) life. Against the rumors, treatment of a person who is registered to donate will not differ from a person who is not registered. Specific documents, that tell the doctor if a person is registered to donate organs or not, only allows the doctor to remove organs from a body after being legally declared deceased, No physician can remove a person s organs prior to the legal steps being taken beforehand and they will not pronounce someone dead if there is still a fighting chance of the patient surviving. Although, to keep the organs healthy to be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The show and comic book center around main character Rick Grimes as he learns to cope with life after waking up from a deadly wound into an outbreak of virus wielding undead creatures known as walkers. Over the course of season two and season three, the show starts to center around how Rick is able to command the group of survivors and the challenges they face trying to settle down in a safe area. Usually, they are forgotten or killed off and labeled with the mental occupational hazard trope. This trope proves that once a minority has served their purpose, they are no longer needed to help the group survive any longer and the main character forgets about the minority (tvtrope.org). These are the main ideas perpetuated in AMC s thriller television show The Walking Dead. From the very beginning, the show portrayed minorities as nothing more than the magical negro helping to further Rick s survival in the zombie infested world. As more characters are introduced, the majorities are of the white race with a few exceptions; Morgan, his son, and T Dog are African American. They represent a racial inequality constitutive [...] order while Michonne represents a progressive move toward equality within the group (Hugey, p 544). Literature Review Matthew Hughey wrote Cinethetic Racism: White Redemption and Black Stereotypes in Magical Negro Films in 2009 to dicuss the trend of progressive African American representation called the magical negro. Hughey examined 26 films to understand race relations and how mainstream audiences interpret the films. He found that the magical negro are placed in subservient positions and can reaffirm the status quo by changing contemporary racism rather than showing evidence of racial progress. • 11. Man s Search For Meaning Essay I am going to guess that the reader of this essay is not a holocaust survivor. I can almost guarantee it. Although you re not a survivor of one of the most horrific events in history, it does not mean you will have no feelings about it if you were to hear some stories. I call them stories because most books written of such detail are mere personal experiences and not factual, historical information. Speaking of personal experiences, I took the time to read a book about a man named Viktor Emil Frankl (26 March 1905 2 September 1997).В№ He was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor. Frankl trusted that in spite of the fact that the Nazi s could force much suffering on him, could rid of his family, and could detain him, they could not choose how he was. He had control over the way he would act, respond, and carry on. Regardless of what they did, he would choose his conduct and be in charge of it. My aim is neither to abridge the book for you, nor to clarify the ideas of existential treatment, so I will move here to my evaluation and reaction to Frankl s book. To start with, I need to repeat that this book is a superb read. For anybody new to the outrages of a death camp, the tale of human triumph even with such barbarities alone is justified regardless of the read. It also gives a rule to engage people to take liability for their life, and to make importance in it. It gives a model of living over the impact of condition. The initial stage is portrayed by the indication of shock. Frankl speaks of his entry via train at the notorious Auschwitz, when he and his kindred detainees underlying stun and frightfulness rapidly offered a path to the condition known as the delusion of reprieve , the conviction that they would be spared at last, that things couldn t be as horrendous as they appeared. Frankl portrays how, not for the last time, he sat tight for destiny to follow through to its logical end as the detainees proceeded remaining before a SS officer who coolly guided them toward the right, which implied they looked physically and ... The number of females missing is so massive that this genocide is now dubbed the gendercide. 80 percent of the 200 million missing females are from two countries, one of them being China (Lee 20). For centuries parents have been trying to choose the sex of their children but the world had never seen anything quite like this genocide ever before. (Sandel 127). Many females still face scrutiny and pressure from relatives and neighbors especially in rural communities where traditions are followed more strictly. All of these cultural beliefs have contributed to the reason why sex selection is still a problem today. The spark to this modern gendercide was the accessibility of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound technology was originally for the use of identifying genetic abnormalities but was discovered that it could be used to detect the sex of a fetus (Sandel 127). This technology became available in the mid 1980 s just after the implementation of the one child rule in China. This new technology meant that people could determine the sex of the baby before giving birth giving rise to sex selection abortions in China. This has ultimately caused the extreme skew in the ratio of males to females in Chinese population. The more available ultrasound technology became, the more people found out they were having girls instead of boys. Therefore, those having females aborted their fetuses while those who were carrying males had their babies. China is now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Esquivel 13) This passage gives the reader an initial insight on the central conflict in the novel, Tita s fight for freedom from Mama Elena s suppression. Mama Elena is portrayed to have characteristics which resemble to that of the stereotypically domineering, abusive male figure. Tita must tread waters very carefully when she is anywhere near Mama Elena, otherwise she would be beaten for any reason. Yet as the novel progresses, Tita undergoes a change due to exposure and desire. With the introduction of Pedro (Tita s lover who ends up marrying Tita s sister), Tita experiences new emotions, desire and lust. Previous to meeting Pedro, Tita never felt the desire to defy Mama Elena, yet her new found love lust for Pedro gave her a reason to rebel. The introduction of the emotion of desire, a need sparked the flame of change in Tita. This concept of women in oppression finding something to strive for, even at a risk, gives women courage. The first step will always be to remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with real numbers. Here is the solution to the first problem: 2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5) =2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4в‹…5 =2a^2 10a+4a 20 =2a^2 6a 20 The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows: First I remove all of the ... The flaw of one man cannot bring down an entire kingdom, but rather one outlook of the king can lead to the demise of the whole. In Sophocles epic tragedy, Antigone, a strong gender bias is present throughout the tragedy, and is partially responsible for the downfall of the king. To Sophocles the king is not always representative of the people, but acts on his own personal desires and judgments. Their deep desires to rule Thebes and male dominating ego, only lead to their deaths; a tragedy that would affect more than just themselves. The battle of glory for men would not be the same for their sisters, but in 442 B.C. as Sophocles illustrates, the living women would have to deal with the tragedies of the dead; a task not easy to be burdened with as woman. Their uncle, Creon, dominates Antigone and her sister Ismene to the extent of mourning their own brother s death. Antigone has chosen a fate without glory: I ll suffer nothing as great as death without glory, (Antigone line 112). Only a male in this time could die with honor and glory, and just as her uncle has forced a death without glory for her brother, although a glorious death is honorable, she has decided it a better life to die without glory than dishonor her blood and the gods. Ismene does not wish to go against the laws of her uncle, for women were not born to contend with men, but between the bond of her and Antigone, she will defy the king(line 75). This should not come as a surprise because free trade among its members is one of the founding principles of the EU. With trade policy being in the exclusive jurisdiction of the EU, this creates new market opportunities for European exporters, workers and investors. The creation of this global market also creates the need for the EU to protect the interest of its 28 members from serious injury by resolving trade issues that go far beyond tariffs. The Safeguards Agreement (SG Agreement) sets forth the rules for application of Safeguard measures pursuant to Article XIX of the Global Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994. These measures are temporary, emergency actions resulting in import restrictions that a country is allowed to impose on a product if imports of that product are or have the potentiality to cause a serious injury to a domestic injury of a directly competitive product. The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s 1984, and Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that the entire city be made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of numbers. The inner party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak, believe they are satisfied, and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is a large part contribution to the success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking away the individuality of the person and replace it with undying love for big brother. However all governments have a crack, a glitch that can prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack, there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to have jurisdiction over the human mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the government. However, the northern region of Tanzania can experience two wet seasons, the longest of which spans from March to May and the shortest from November to December. The March to May period is known as the long rains , during which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The land of Tanzania, apart from Mt. Kilimanjaro, is relatively flat, with part of the East African plateau of about 1200 m above sea level making up most of the geography. Therefore, topographic influences do not play much of a part in regulating the creation of storm fronts there. The climate, while tropical, is best described as semi arid, with average temperatures between 76 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When I recorded Tanzania s weather (specifically that of its capital, Dodoma) for ten weeks, I noticed very little precipitation (less than one inch during the ten weeks). It is true that the country was at that time undergoing its dry season, but the absolute lack of precipitation was surprising to me. The stark contrast between the dry and wet seasons can have severe consequences. If the wet season begins with a sudden, heavy rainfall, there is a large danger of damage to the crops, since the vegetation cover is often scanty, so that there is little protection against soil erosion when the rains start (Nieuwolt 241 250). In March of 1973, such a situation occurred and the sudden start to the rainy season washed away an entire season s worth of crops, to the devastation of the agricultural economy (Nieuwolt). Soil erosion is a prevalent problem in Tanzania, not only to farmers but also to the general populace, who might just find their homes washed away with the first rainfall of the wet season. Essay on The Impact of Refugees on a Society The Impact of Refugees on a Society The argument that refugees have a negative effect on society has been a topic of great debate for many years, both in the UK and across many other countries. Almost since time began, the human race has had problems when the situation in their area has changed for the worse, and they have had to make tough decisions about where they should go next, and the problem has never been a more prominent issue than in today s society. It is an argument with two clearly defined sides. On one hand, the refugees, tortured, poverty stricken and living in fear day and night. Statistics show that applications from the rest of the EU fell by 14% compared to the previous three months. Every year, tens and thousands of these refugees pour into Britain, seeking aid and support, but should they leave their country? Is the situation in their country really bad enough to make them have the right to move here? The main opposition to refugees coming to the UK is not the Tories or any Government party, but the British taxpayer. Almost weekly, a new story hits the headlines detailing more statistics to make their readers grimace, usually about the cost that each family has to pay to house asylum seekers, as proved in the article Refugees cost us ВЈ13 each (Michael Lea, The Sun, March 2000), where phrases such as Shocking , Chaos and staggering are deliberately used to turn the reader against refugees. AMS analyses were useful in redefining the principal foliation, but did not aid in determining lineations or direction of shear sense. Nevertheless, these analyses in combination with local mapping tentatively point to the following sequence of events: 1) deposition of the Westboro; 2) greenschist facies metamorphism forming the principal foliation; 3) contact metamorphism, recorded by the formation of large cordierite porphyblasts; 4) mylonitization; 5) extrusion and deposition of overlying felsic flows and pyroclastic deposits; 6) intrusion of the Dedham granite (ca. 610 Ma) and possible retrograde metamorphism of porphryblasts; 7) additional contact metamorphism, recorded by unaltered cordierite aggregates rimming porphyroblasts; and 8) brittle deformation evidenced by thin bands of cataclasite in the Dedham. This paper will reveal the story of my data through showing common themes between my research team s data to highlight noticeable conclusions drawn from my research methodologies. In analyzing my data, it is important to note my positionality. I am a nineteen year old female college student living in a downtown area of a city. I identify as being middle class, Jewish, heterosexual, and Latina. These key aspects of identity were important to take into consideration while collecting and analyzing my data because it can affect interpretation. For my research in Goose Hollow specifically, my social location as a middle class Latina was the most relevant. An awareness of the tensions inherent in research, and reflection on these tensions is important (McAullffe and Coleman, 2008, pg. 26). Being aware of my social location and following the ethics and protocol necessary in a research project, allowed me to be reflexive during my study. When making conclusions about my data to determine the narrative, I looked at how every research methodology contributed to the themes of my neighborhood. In the very act of constructing data out of experience, the qualitative researcher singles out some things as worthy of note and relegates others to the background (Wolcott, 1994, pg. 13). For the purpose of my paper, I chose to focus on two themes but that does not discredit the rest of my data. The two themes that appeared in all the data shared between my research team, were the ideas that Goose Hollow serves as an in between place for people trying to get from point A to point B and the active gentrification present in the neighborhood. To begin, I focused on participant observation methodology. The physical location and businesses of Goose Hollow makes it a convenient place for people to stop. On the other hand, Piaget theory stated that children are only able to perform in certain cognitive stages. He found that human understood whatever information that fit into their view of the world. When information does not fit, then individuals examine and accommodate the new information, is similar to Piaget s theory on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
