Tech. Project aims at introducing biometric capable technology for use in automating the entire
attendance system for the students pursuing courses at an educational institute. The goal can be
disintegrated into finer sub targets; fingerprint capture transfer, fingerprint image processing and
wireless transfer of data in a server client system. For each sub task, various methods from
literature are analyzed. From the study of the entire process, an integrated approach is proposed.
Biometrics based technologies are supposed to be very efficient personal identifiers as they can
keep track of characteristics believed to be unique to each person. Among these technologies,
Fingerprint recognition is universally applied. It extracts minutia based features from scanned
images of fingerprints made by the different ridges on the fingertips.
The student attendance system is very relevant in an institute like ours since it aims at eliminating
all the hassles of roll calling and malpractice and promises a full proof as well as reliable technique
of keeping records of student s attendance.

occurred on the Grizzly River Run Ride, where I met a nice couple visiting the park all the way
from Melbourne to celebrate their anniversary at Disney California Adventure. They had informed
me that there currently is no Disneyland in Australia. I suddenly realized that Disney theme parks
in California are prime tourist attractions to a majority of the world s population who do not have a

x On a peaceful night at the Coco Havana the Maine one of the first warships owned by the U.S.
Costing over 2 million dollars and weighing approximately 6,000 tons blew up in an explosion.
After taking about 9 years to build the ship, it was all ready to sail the seas. The Maine then
sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 3 years, after which it settled in Havana, Cuba in January of 1898.

Having recognized and established numerous suppliers, manufactures are now able to substitute
suppliers and provide consumer with several options. Therefore, supplier power is considered to be
relatively lower in the automobile industry.
Threat of New Entrants (Low)
The threat of new entrants to the automobile manufacturing industry is low being that new players
are hard to come by and entering the industry is highly difficult. Entry barriers include, but are not
limited to: (1) safety and quality standards, (2) design and comfort, (3) servicing network, (4)
research and development, (5) brand loyalty, (6) economies of scale, (7) sales and distribution
channels, (8) access to raw materials, (9) technology and patent barriers, and (10) skilled human
resource availability.
The high safety and quality standards can be said to be two dimensional. First and foremost, the
bare minimum is highly enforced by regulatory bodies. In order to produce and sell, manufactures
must comply with each regulatory bodies requirements. The quality and safety characteristics that
each firm attempts to provide to the consumers often time relates to different features. Companies,
such as Toyota, Honda and BMW, all have an ample market share and presence due to the

Fireline intensity (IB) the rate of heat released over a set distance by the actively flaming front of
the fire (kW/m). It is calculated by measuring the weight of the fuel burned and the rate of spread.
The equation is IB = w h R
w is the weight of the fuel consumed by the fire (kg m 2).
h is the low fuel heat content and is a constant. 18260 kJ kg 1 = h
R is the rate of spread (m 1 s 1).
The weight of the fuel and the rate of spread affect fire intensity by increasing or decreasing it,
which in turn affects the fireline intensity. The heavier the fuel is, the more there is and the faster
the spread therefore increasing both the fire intensity and fireline intensity. The lighter the fuel, the
less there is and the slower the spread therefore decreasing both types of intensities.
Heat per Unit Area (HA) is the total heat released from a given area (kJ m 2). Heat per Unit Area is
a measurement of rate of spread and flame length.

In class, we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This movie is set in the time
of the middle ages (roughly 476 1453). It follows King Arthur and his knights as they search for
the Holy Grail. They look for the Holy Grail after they are told to by God. The movie at first may
seem like nonsense and a silly parody, but in reality, Monty Python and the Holy Graildemonstrates
the truth of the Middle Ages, feudal hierarchy, and other topics we have discussed in class.
In the Middle Ages, the Church was one of the most powerful forces. It was a very important
part of the people s culture and was a unifying force for them. It gave people a common belief,
protection and a sense of safety in a time of war. Many people relied on it to receive sacraments
and go to heaven, especially peasants because that was about all they had going for them. The
Church and it s matters were taken seriously and they maintained power throughout the Middle
Ages. In the movie, the power of the church is shown in many scenes. For example, in the scene
where King Arthur and his knights are trying to get into the cave but the rabbit is stopping them,
they call in the priests to give them the Holy Hand Grenade . The priests take it very seriously and
tell Arthur very specific instructions for it. He activates it and blows up the rabbit they are able to
enter the cave. This shows that they believed that the church and God had the most power and the
power to do anything. In a time of need, they turned to the Church.
The feudal system was the method of government that was used in the Middle Ages. The feudal
pyramid consisted of four levels, King at the top, Church Official and Nobles/Lords next, then
Knights, and peasants at the bottom. The King had the most power, the nobles were sometimes
vassals to the king, knights fought in the king s army, and peasants worked in the field all day
and were very poor. In one scene of the movie, peasants are seen working in the fields. They are
very dirty and have bad quality clothing which shows how little money and power they had
compared to King Arthur, who had fancy clothing and did not have to work. King Arthur then asks

I intend to concentrate on the cultural heritage of Syria throughout the duration of this report,
however the the massive losses in life and property incurred over the course of the now five year
long Civil War in Syria is a major factor in the discussion in regards to what remains, and what has
been destroyed, among Syrias tangible cultural heritage in the form of monuments, historical

The school dismissal bell has just rung and I walk slowly towards the back of the building
towards the athletic wing. As I walk towards the trophy case, I am walking by memory because i
am distracted by my own thoughts floating through my head of all the things I need to do before

Today is Tuesday, and we have a meet. Tuesday is the longest day of my week. After going to

I will analyse the cost to the music industry of internet piracy over the last decade, Quantify and
qualify the argument that an illegal download is equal to one song purchased. I will use the
