The Early Esbls
1.7.2.3 CTX M β lactamases
Most of the early ESBLs were mainly ceftazidimases with little or no hydrolytic activity against
cefotaxime. ESBLs often showed variable substrate preference with some enzymes hydrolyzing one
cephalosporin type better than the others. The first enzyme with the capability of cefotaxime
hydrolysis but unable to hydrolyze ceftazidime was reported from an E. coli strain isolated from a dog
that was used as a model to study cephalosporin pharmacokinetics in Japan in 1986. It was initially
named as FEC 1 but later found to be similar to CTX M 3 on subsequent amino acid sequencing. The
first clinical isolate with cefotaximase property was identified From an E. coli isolate in 1989 in
Munich, Germany. It was designated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The analysis revealed that the CTX M members of same group exhibited ≥94% identity while ≤90%
with members of different groups. The evolutionary distances between groups reveal an early
divergence from a common ancestor.
Few members are shown below:
CTX M 1 cluster: CTX M 1, 3, 10, 15, 22, 23
CTX M 2 cluster: CTX M 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 20, 76, 77
CTX M 8 cluster: CTX M 8, 40, 63
CTX M 9 cluster: CTX M 9, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19
CTX M 25 cluster: CTX M 25, 26, 39, 41, 91
The origin of CTX M type β lactamases was very different from that of TEM or SHV type β
lactamases (Bonnet, 2004).These enzymes show only 40% resemblance to two most common ESBLs,
TEM and SHV. Each CTX M cluster has been correlated to the chromosomal bla genes present in
different Kluyvera species, that normally form human intestinal normal flora at low counts. It is also
considered as an opportunistic pathogen occasionally associated with infections of urinary tract and
skin in humans [Farmer et al, 1981; Sarriaetal, 2001]. It also exists in the environment as a free living
organism in water, soil, sewage and animal food. Chromosomal bla gene, kluC, present in Kluyvera
cryocrescens (kluC) has been considered the ancestor of the CTX M 1cluster (Decousser et al., 2001).
The enzymes of CTX M 2 cluster are believed to origin from kluA gene of Kluyvera ascorbata
(Humeniuk et al., 2002), CTX M 8

Paid Parental Leave Case Study
Paid parental leave has been an issue of public and political debate since the early 1970s (Brennan,
2009), stemming from lobbying of the women s movement and women s liberation groups (Kramarae
Spender, 2000). The first development towards paid parental leave was made in the late 1970s. At this
time the union movement, in particular, the Australian Council of Trade Unions, successfully pushed
for a woman s rights to access maternity leave by applying political pressure on the government of the
day (Baird Murray, 2014). As a result women were able to access 52 weeks of unpaid maternity leave
with jobs protected, access to this leave was granted to adoptive parents and fathers from the mid 1980
s (McCarthy, Jenkin Stewart, 2011). Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The release of the 2002 Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Report amplified the
public and political pressure placed on the government to implement a national scheme (Baird Murray,
2014). A change in government at the 2001 election brought with it the strong conservative pragmatist
approach of The Coalition government under the leadership of John Howard (Sawer, 1997). Policy
changes made under the government during this time placed emphasis on women s fertility and
motherhood rather than their contribution and importance within the labour market (Baird, 2005).
Resulting from political pressure felt from paid leave advocates from both political and public spheres,
the conservative government introduced the Baby bonus in 2002 to appease their constituents while
maintaining their opposition to the introduction of a paid parental leave scheme. This demonstrates the
government compromising to maintain a balance between the government s ideology and public and
political support. The baby bonus supplied a small monetary bonus upon the birth of a child and was
available, controversially, to both working and non working women (Baird, 2005). The government s
implementation of various policies during their time in office showed ambivalence or possibly divides
within the government surrounding whether women were to be supported as housewives or as wage
earners (Brennan, 2007) with the baby bonus placing emphasis on a women s role as a carer rather
than a contributor to the economy (Hill, 2006). Changes in family policies can be linked to
demographic trends, especially when birth rates and women s workforce participation rose, resulting
in increased demand on policy makers to alter policies to provide support and alleviate pressures felt
by families (Gauthier,

Characters In The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club brings many types of peoples, and many types of personalities together. I
personally think I relate to all of them, not completely because they all have characteristics that I think
I also have. John is this bad kid who does and says whatever he wants to do. Claire is the pristine
goodie goodie. Allison is this strange girl who is considered to be a basket case. Andrew is the jock
whose main concern is westing. Brian is a depressed brainiac. Firstly, I relate to John because he
doesn t care what people think of him, and I typically don t try to listen to what people say about me.
John does whatever he wants and says whatever he wants to, and most of the time it gets him in
trouble. I sort of relate to that in a way because I do what I want to most of the time, but usually I
make sure what I say and do keeps me out of trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t consider myself a goodie goodie, but I am not know to stay out of trouble. Another character
that I relate to is Allison. Allison is a strange high school student who is always on the outside and is
weird. I consider myself to be weird when I am around certain people. I do not act how Allison acts in
school, because I think I would be to afraid to be made fun of. The fourth character I relate to is
Andrew, the jock. Andrew is a wrestler and is always getting into fights with people at school. I
personally love volleyball and basketball. I do not relate to him in the fact that I do not get into fights.
I feel if I did get into fight I would relate to him more. The final character person I relate to is Brian,
the depressed brainiac. One reason I relate to Brian is that I consider myself smart. I do good in all my
classes and I find myself enjoying school. The part were I don t relate to Brian is with his depression. I
consider myself a happy person who wouldn t consider suicide, which in the movie Brian

Causation
When looking at any historical event, it is vital to utilize logic, and not allow pride and other emotions
to interfere. In order to understand a historical concept as intricate as, for example, multiple causation,
a special, scholarly reasoning must be applied. Rather than trying to discover what one wishes to
unearth, it is best to study documents with a spirit of humility. That being said, it cannot be disputed
that multiple causation was indeed responsible for the Protestant Reformation.
Using the elementary line of thought, which dictates that a single event caused the Reformation, is
fruitless. It is important to elucidate the various events that are actually attributed to causing the
Reformation. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The powerful social forces at work, which emerged from economic motives, were a separate cause of
the Reformation. Luther and his supporters were one such social force, but were not the only ones.
Merchants of the time were disgusted by the infusion of cash to Rome. The papacy was raking in all
sorts of financial acquisitions, and the majority of people were paupers. The common folk living in the
sixteenth century were upset at what they saw: a continuous drain on national wealth. It would only
take a single person to begin sowing seeds of dissent among them: Martin Luther. Luther was part of
the chain that developed the Reformation, but events had to occur before and after him to bring about
the change.
Another event needed to occur to ensure that Luther would be able to implement his plan: Charles V s
dilemma. Unsure of the support he had, given that his own prince supported the reformers and had the
power to incite a rebellion, Charles decided to play it safe. Admittedly, the Crown could have
destroyed the rebellion in its infancy, but it did not. The Church itself also had the power to deal with
the rebels. A quote from Gustavson carefully clarifies the reasons that it could not. After many
centuries as the universal Church of Western Europe, it had undergone both a loss of

Ender s Game
Ender s Game is about a boy who, along with other children, goes to Battle School in space as
preparation for going to war with an alien race, known as the Buggers, that has threatened mankind. It
is set in the future. Ender s Game and its sequel Speaker for the Dead, written by Orson Scott Card,
were both awarded the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award. The series continues with Xenocide,
Children of the Mind, Ender s Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, First Meetings in
the Enderverse , Shadow of the Giant, Shadows in Flight, A War of Gifts, and Ender in Exile. Ender in
Exile takes place after Ender s Game and before Speaker for the Dead. Card also plans to write
Shadows Alive, which connects the Shadow series and Speaker series. ... Show more content on

The major theme of the book is the concept of games. The context of the games helps interpret the
other important ideas of the novel. The more the story unfolds, the harder it becomes to separate the
games from reality. Ender s final game had a profound impact on his life, and it was, in fact, reality
itself and not just a game as he had originally thought. Another theme is the relationship between
children and adults. The children s lives are constantly contrasted with the lives of the adults. The
children are capable of killing, manipulating, and hating, which are the worst features of adults, but
they are also capable of creating and helping. Friends and enemies are another theme of the novel.
Whether or not someone is a friend or enemy is never entirely clear. In the end, the ones who Ender
thought were enemies, turned out to be friendly. Card proves that there are no clear distinctions
between friends and enemies. The point of view in Ender s Game is that of the characters. It is not,
however, limited to one character. Most of the novel is told in Ender s perspective, but there are parts,
even whole chapters, where the point of view is switched to that of Valentine s, one of the adult s, or
even Peter s. There are parts of the story where the commanders are talking about Ender and his
progress . While in Valentine s point of view, the reader learns about what is happening on earth while
Ender is in space. The point of view basically fills in all the holes for the

Private Ryan Reflection
Saving Private Ryan Generally I m not interested in war movies, but recently I had the opportunity to
watch Saving Private Ryan. Despite my initial reservations, I thought that this movie was great
because it showed all the facets of war and illustrated the emotions involved in war. It began with
really gory scenes at Omaha Beach as part of the Normandy Invasion during World War II; This wasn
t my favorite part, but it s a real part of war so it was important that they included it. As the movie
continued, it went on to display the bond that occurs when men fight together in combat and the tough
decisions that have to be made during the course of a war. This movie took place during World War II,
specifically during D Day, in France. The movie follows Captain John H. Miller and a squad of seven
men as they search for a paratrooper, Private Ryan. General George Marshall learns that three out of
four brothers of the Ryan Family were killed In World War II and the fourth was missing when he
went into France on D Day. He orders Captain Miller to find the missing brother and send him home
so the Ryan family doesn t lose all of their children. Captain Ryan and his squad set out to find the
missing soldier, although some of the soldiers have reservations about going. Throughout the journey
they encounter other squads of U.S. troops and come across some German troops as well. We also find
that Captain Miller must also make hard decisions not only for the good of his squad but

Examples Of Conflict In Tell Tale Heart
The conflict in Edgar Allan Poe s Tell Tale Heart is man versus himself. In the first lines of the story,
the speaker talks directly to the reader where he tries to convince the reader that he is not insane.
However, we discover that he is mentally ill as we read more of the story. The character speaks against
his purpose of pleading as mentally healthy. Ironically, his own speech convicts him. Therefore, it can
be concluded that the narrator is on a mind battle with his own conscience. The narrator s background
is a mystery to the reader but his characteristics were evidently presented on his way of narration. All
the obsessive details and the whole elaborate plan the man narrated was enough evidence to confirm
the reader that he is truly out of his mind. The narrator is obsessive, paranoid, and insane and these
characteristics are the problems which led to the conflict. His too much thinking attitude was his own
protagonist in the story. There is this eye which became the narrator s object of obsession. Whenever
he sees the old man, he doesn t see the old man as a whole but sees the evil eye . In ... Show more

In the story, the man has incredible intelligence. However, despite his cleverness, this man doesn t
possess a heart. He doesn t have the passionate sense of humanity that would guide him to use his wit
in achieving good goals. Instead, what happened was the reverse. The man used his powerful mind as
a tool for evilness. So, what the author wants to say is that intelligence is not enough to make up a
human being. One must have a heart which directs the head. This story entitled Tell Tale Heart is not
only about the beating heart which led the main character to reveal his own doing but the heart also
pertains to what is missing from him, a heart. Moreover, the story tells us that our conscience will
always hunt us on the evil deeds we performed. Our hearts will always reveal the truth even if we

Raw Materials And The Natural Resources
he world economy is based on the natural resources that are the raw materials and the world need this
resources is increasing rapidly. raw materials can be traded and their size and quality have been
standardized to be the commodities. there are three types of commodities, energy commodities, metal
commodities and commodities. commodities markets have been created before 150 years in the united
states and commodities trading had existed in Japan before more than a 1,000 years.Agricultural
commodities were the first commodities traded.Nowadays, commodity trading represents around a

nevertheless, financialization of commodities markets had created a large amounts of commodity
assets and high returns and thus boost the commodities demand. as a result of the increasing interest in
commodities, several institutions have created commodity indexes. commodity index is a fixed
weighted average of selected commodity prices, which based on futures prices or spot prices. These
indexes represent the board commodity asset prices for a certain commodity as gold, oil and wheat.
Recently, most of commodities trading are over the counter (OTC) markets in which there is no formal
markets or trading exchange and therefore no fixed sturdy regulations. Primarily, researches on
commodity markets have focused on price changes and commodity risk. these studies are very
significant because of the growing rule of commodities in the asset markets and as a result of the
increasing volatility. Moreover, this importance is owing to the fact that commodity returns have
specific characteristic as asymmetry, non normal distribution and fat tails.(Chkili, Hammoudeh and
Nguyen, 2014, p1) The global economy encounters series of collapses and booms in commodity
prices. These booms have negatively influenced the commodities producers and consumers around the
world. The OPEC imposed oil embargo on the united States and Europe had resulted in the first
collapse in the 1970 s. In the beginning of 2000 s commodities prices started to

Essay on Purpose Driven Church Book Review
Rick Warren in his book the purpose driven church was mandated to attempt to put in print the story

leaders had at least a cursory interest in how a church grew to 10,000 attendees. Call it divine

The Trial and Death of Socrates Essay
The portrayal of Socrates, through the book the trial and death of Socrates is one that has created a
fairly controversial character in Western history. In many ways, Socrates changed the idea of common
philosophy in ancient Greece; he transformed their view on philosophy from a study of why the way
things are, into a consideration man. Specifically, he analyzed the virtue and health of the human soul.
Along side commending Socrates for his strong beliefs, and having the courage to stand by those
convictions, Socrates can be commended for many other desirable characteristics. Some of those can
include being the first martyr to die for his philosophical beliefs and having the courage to challenge
indoctrinated cultural norms is part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The apology is an account of the speech that Socrates makes during his trial. In Socrates trial, he is
being accused of not recognizing the same gods that the others in Athens recognize (specifically that
those in authority). Instead, Socrates is charged with inventing new gods, and in doing so is corrupting
the youth of Athens to whom, Socrates frequently preaches to about his theology. Socrates speech,
however, is not an apology, as the name may suggest but rather an explanation of his beliefs. During
his trial speech, Socrates makes frequent reference to his beliefs explaining that his behavior stems
from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi, which claims that he was the wisest of all men. Although
Socrates is honest and direct about these beliefs, this did not sit well with many of the trial members
who were evaluating him. Despite the fact that Socrates made frequent references to the fact that it is
destined for him to be the wisest of all men, he also recognizes that he does in fact lack in knowledge
when it comes to world affairs. To which, Socrates states only adds to his wisdom as he is aware of the
fact that he does not know everything and that realization alone makes him wiser than most other men.
In his explanation of his behavior, Socrates also adds that part of his duty as a wise man, is to make
sure that he questions the behavior of other wise men to make sure that those men are also aware

The Pros And Cons Of The Ultrasound

what type of abortion procedure would be the safest and most necessary for the pregnant woman. It is

On the other hand, pro life supporters claim that abortions cause regret, depression, are dangerous, and
cause complications in later pregnancies. So pregnancies after that might suffer due to the abortion
that happened years ago. The obstetrician, Roger Harms, M.D., states that surgical abortions can cause
the cervix to become weak as well as leave a lot of scar tissue in the uterus. Both of these factors
would really cause it to be very difficult for a woman to conceive again as well as be able to carry the
baby to full term. Religion also plays a extremely big role in abortions. Pro choice advocates tend to

The Impact Of Piracy On The Internet Essay
The Impact of Piracy
According to the Motion Pictures Association of America website, A pirate is anyone who sells,
acquires, copies or distributes copyrighted materials without permission. Over the past ten years,
technology has greatly advanced, and with these technological advances, digital file sharing easier
than ever. One aspect of these advances is faster Internet connection, which has made it easier to
download large files in the matter of minutes. Whereas in the past majority of people had dial up
Internet services which in most cases the download rate was no more than 10 kilobytes per second.
Some Internet providers today offer speeds up to one gigabyte per second, which to put in perspective;
a DVD size is usually around 4 gigabytes, so technically someone could download an exact replica of
a DVD in a matter of minutes if not seconds. But even in the dial up era, internet piracy was an issue,
where programs such as Napster made it easy for people to share files with people all over the world.
Napster, was the first well known peer to peer sharing software where users were able to directly
download songs from other users. Napster surfaced in 1999 and most internet users embraced it open
arms as they were able to download their favorite songs at the comfort of their home for free. Napster
s reign only lasted about two years, after which the record companies caught on, and noticed that
Napster was affecting their sales, and lawsuits

Comparing Havisham And Valentine
Havisham and Valentine are both poems written by Carol Ann Duffy. They both develop the idea of
what love is really about, while being two completely different interpretations about love. The poet
reveals the link between the two poems using a variety of techniques; Duffy expresses the reality of
love in Valentine in contrast to the exaggeration that love is a thing of hate in Havisham .
Valentine directly tells the reader what love really is, Not a red rose or a satin heart / not a cute car or a
kissogram. Duffy takes away the materialistic side of love on Valentines Day, and looks at it
realistically, using an onion as a gift, instead. Imagery is used effectively in Valentine to develop the
key idea. I give you an onion. It is a moon... this metaphor is used to express the idea of a gift larger
than what it appears to be. The poet reveals the truth about love: It s fierce kiss will stay on your lips,
possessive and faithful. In effect this shows that love can be controlling. This strong use of
personification connects the onion to the lover highlighting the imagery constructed in this poem
about reality; and that love is hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Havisham that is emphasised: Ropes on the back of my hands I could strangle with. This gives the
reader the idea that the character is using extreme physical tension to show her feelings, and the
violent feelings that disturb her could be a driving force of murder for her. The violent imagery that is
used, along with the word strangle gives us the idea that Miss Havisham, the Spinster wants to murder

No matter the age, everyone should have a plan for when he or she is comatose and unable to make

spouse and the patient s family may not see eye to eye on how to go about the situation. The spouse

Terri Shiavo died almost eleven years ago after her feeding tube was removed by the order of Florida

when the person can see and hear everything going on around them but cannot respond to any of it. It

Research also suggest that only twenty five percent of Americans have a living will but change their

Improving Health And Self Care For Multiple Reasons
In a research article by Johnson (2010), elderly individuals may not be able to maintain health and self
care for multiple reasons, such as cognitive limitations, mobility issues, living conditions, and other
comorbidities. Language barriers may also affect the understanding of discharge instructions. This has
significance when looking at Australians in 2006, almost three million, aged 15 74 years of age, spoke
English as a second language. Karliner and colleagues conducted a study to focus on language barriers
and the understanding of discharge instructions among patients with limited English proficiency from
2 large urban hospitals. The sample consisted of 308 random Spanish, Chinese, and English speaking
patients recruited from medical surgical floors who were used in the study. Although the patients were
provided with interpreters in their appropriate languages, the results of the study discovered low
understanding for follow up appointments (56%) and medication outcomes such as the purpose of
medication (41%).
In another study, focus group participants discussed their most common obstacles faced when trying to
manage their care on their own appropriately. Having insufficient information and know how about
their health and health care were the primary barriers that patients revealed when they talked about
managing their own care (Holly). Participants mentioned about how overwhelmed they felt trying to
cope with a chronic condition, especially after their initial

The Electronic Health Record Mandate
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the electronic health record mandate. Who started it and when?
I will discuss the goals of the mandate. I will discussion will how the Affordable Care Act ties into the
mandate of Electronic Health Record. It will describe my own facility s EHR and what steps are been
taken to implement it. I will describe the term meaningful use, and it will discuss possible threats to
patient confidentiality and the what s being done by my facility to prevent Health Information and
Portability Accountability Act or HIPAA violations.
Description of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
The EHR mandate is an order set for when all healthcare records are to become electronic or
electronically kept and readily available. In 2004 president, Bush set a goal that all health records
would be electronic by 2014. It was assumed that Electronic Health Records (EHR) would promote
increased quality of health care and reduce costs, and also that the availability of electronic records
would reduce errors (simborg, 2008). Simborg also said, The addition of clinical decision support
functions in many EHRs to warn physicians to potential errors and influence their behaviors toward
evidence based decisions further enhances the potential of EHRs to promote quality and reduce costs.
(Simborg, 2008).
The main goals of the EHR mandate was to correct healthcare coordination amount the healthcare
team of hospitals, physicians, and the lab. It is to ensure that private

Santa Clause Personal Statement
I was in third grade when I stopped believing in Santa Clause. As I listened to my classmates describe
the gifts they had received for Christmas, I noticed that my friends from wealthier families got more
presents than my friends from poorer families. After some reflection, I decided that the only plausible
explanation was that money, rather than elves, determined who ended up on the nice list. I have
always had a strong sense of justice, but over the course of my life it has manifest itself in different
ways. When I was in third grade it led me to give up my belief in Santa Clause; and when I was in
high school it drove me to volunteering with local nonprofits. During my time at Penn State, I set my

It is one thing for a society to fail in this purpose, but it is quite another for one to militate against this
cultivation. Locking people up will not cure drug addiction or mental illnesses. It will not reduce
crimes of poverty, and it has not reduced crimes of violence. There is even some evidence to suggest
that the negative economic effects of incarceration, coupled with the damage to family and community
ties, may actually lead to more crime. Incarceration is a reaction to crime, it is not a solution for crime
s underlying causes. The more I study the criminal justice system, the more viscerally I feel a sense of

The Convention And Event Planning Industry
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the industry will be adding at least 31,000 new jobs
between 2010 and 2020, a faster than average growth rate of 44% ( Fun ). The convention and event
planning industry is not an industry that quickly comes to mind when one thinks of employment
groups. The studies shows that the convention and event planning is time consuming but this
particular caterogy of business will later help the business industry. The process of creating a
successful convention takes time and effort. In the process of planning a convention, it must have a
vision and layout of the event. To organize an event one must first answer the questions of; who, what,
when, where, and why. This allows the event coordinator to openly express the principles for any
ceremony. Finding the who of the convention is fairly easy. Figure out who will be the audience and
who is on the program guide to run the Convention. As for what the convention will need to see what
kind of convention do the staff want to plan and the atmosphere for the audience and once they leave
what do the planners want them to take with them from the affair (Bourne) The next stop of the
planning process is when will the event happen. For instance, in the fall or summer. Also where is the
convention location? Find a decent place to feel safe at, to be able to have fun, and learn good
information. The last step is why plan the convention? In the article Convention Planning Begins Here

Old Age And The Process Of Aging
This paper argues that gerontology, the study of old age and the process of aging, have overlooked
gender inequality within policies of patriarchal structures, and within the ideologies of western
capitalist society. This is a major source of women s social and economic powerlessness in old age.
Ray (1996) explains feminist gerontology as a connection between feminism and gerontology
focusing on gender and gender relations. Feminist gerontology deals with populations of both women
and men, and through the connection between gender, conclusions in research on women are drawn
from building upon research based on men (Calasanti, 2004). Patriarchal structure of western society
still maintains the core preference of traditional gender roles, which lead to familiar results in old age.
The manifestation of this ideology can be seen in advertisement in media and again repeated within
institutions of political and educational domains. Its ability to take several forms produces the root of
issues of inequality in old age and difficulty women face compared to men. Gender, within research of
gerontology is relatively recent in its consideration in exploring the experience of elderly in western
society (Wray, 2003). Therefore, differentiating between genders is done through describing the
obstacles that women face in old age compared to men, such as gap in life expectancy, where women
tend to live longer than men (Backes et al., 2006). Their prolonged lifespan in comparison to men

The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down Analysis
The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down is a cultural comparison between two cultures Hmong
from Laos and a modern public hospital in California s San Joaquin Valley. The Lee family fled Laos
after communist forces took over their country migrating to the United States. Lia was their fourteenth
child born in the United States and diagnosed with severe epilepsy. The book is a collection of
multiple interviews to develop a story and is a collection of the writer s interpretations of her
observations, following the Lee family that immigrated to California from Laos. It explores two very
different cultures and the clashes that occurred when they come together in the California medical
system. Lia Lee s family viewed epilepsy as demons that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

made models to test his invention and make a good console that was worth paying for. Although it
took some time to build, he never gave up and kept on trying if he didn t get it right the first time. He
was a very good man and received many awards for his accomplishments. His story was that he was
while living in Germany a war was going to happen and he didn t want to get killed before he could

game console is important because it helped develop a gaming life for some people and community
for a lot of people that like to play video games. Today its role is for kids and adults to enjoy their
gaming life and interact with friends on a video game to get in touch more often. The video game
console has evolved over about 48 years and it has changed in many ways. One way it has changed is
well just everything and it was not able to be connected with your TV back then but now you can. One
interesting fact is that the Nintendo and play station were sold with 155 million units. The very first
video game console came out in 1972 and it was called The Magnavox Odyssey. It became popular in
the 1970 s and 1980 s. The first ever video game to play on the video game console was Tennis for

focused on Whole Health Management as his first choice.

If I accept it, do not think that you left money on the table. I want you to perform so well that I feel
bad about what you are earning . . . then I will want to take care of you. The one thing I learned over
the years is that if people are highly paid, the expectations are that they will perform at that level. The
higher the pay, the less room for forgiveness. Having said this, I expect you to run hard and make
errors . . . that is how you will learn and learn quickly. No one has made more errors than me, so you
will have to work real hard to catch up to me before I lose patience. In other words, run hard and learn

Since we have had to make choices and distinguish between one thing and another all of our lives,
most of us like to see how others make their decisions. We especially appreciate this strategy if it

When you asked us to write a Compare and Contrast paper, I did not exactly know what you meant.
After researching both concepts I learned about new things, our brain wants ever so badly to compare

Medicine in Colonial Days Essay
The Colonial Period The improvement of medicine over the course of the human successes gave great
convenience to the people of today. Science has cured and prevented many illnesses from occurring
and is on its way to cure some of the most dreadful and harmful illnesses. As the world modernizes
due to the industrialization, so does the ways of medicine. Some cures are approached by chance,
some, through intense, scientific measures. Medicine has come a long way from the Greek period.
Theories composed of the four elements were used to explain the sick phenomenon that happens to
our bodies. Many of the those theories are not relevant as of now. Medicine and remedies has begun

Beginning with the newly founded nation: America, many colonial people encountered illnesses they
have never been subjected to. Despite the different times in history, there is a similarity that is still
ongoing today. Those who have little income or live in rural settings have trouble obtaining the health
they need when an illness occurs. Hospitals are either too far to reach in time or the bills are too
expensive to pay. Now, there are countries who offer free health care but it does not pertain to the land
of America. America is based on money, and the old ways of paying back someone through bales of
wheat or firewood just will not cut it.
There were doctors in Colonial America. When a doctor visits a patient to check upon the sick person
s health, their pay will be in anything but money such as chopped woods, vegetables, et cetera for the
poor people. The poor people did not have money as stated in A Visit to a Colonial Times Doctor s
Office. They usually rely on their farming to feed their families and things such as money were scarce.
Those who are of the contrary to the low income and the rural settings have better access to health and
opportunities as written in Colonial Medicine (5). They can pay their doctor on the spot and can even
request their choice of doctors. In modern America, a new change to the health care business is
arriving. With the currently new healthcare, everyone shall be able to hopefully

Foundations of Psychology
Foundations of Psychology
Psychology is an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental processes
and behavior. There is some tension between scientific psychology (with its program of empirical
research) and applied psychology (dealing with a number of areas). Psychologists attempt to explain
the mind and brain in the context of real life. In contrast neurologists utilize a physiological approach.
Psychologists study such phenomena as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, and
interpersonal relationships. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various
spheres of human activity including issues related to daily life e.g. family, education, and work and the

The school of thought known as structuralism was initiated by Edward Titchener, one of Wundt s
students. This school of thought was called structuralism because of Titchener s interest in the
structural make up of consciousness. It was Ticthener s hope to devise a table of the levels, or
elements of human consciousness using Wundt s introspection idea. Ticthener viewed psychology
scientifically. He believed that the only way to understand psychology was through experimentation.
This eventually led to the idea that sensation and feelings were unscientific because it could not be
measured by anyone but the person experiencing it. The second school of thought that was popular in
psychology s beginning was known as functionalism. This school of though focused on the role
psychological processes have on helping people adapt to their surroundings. Functionalists believe
that consciousness exists because it serves a function (Kowalski Westen, 2005). William James, one of
the founders of functionalism, set out to explain why we think the way that we do. These two schools
of thought branch out even further to offer assumptions or perspectives on these theories.
Psychodynamic, behaviorist, cognitive, and evolutionary perspectives help to expand psychological
thinking and guide psychological studied. Psychodynamic and behaviorist perspectives will be
covered since the last two are more recent perspectives. Sigmund Freud emphasis was on
psychodynamics. His

Definition Essay-Empty Nest Syndrome
EMPTY NEST SYNDROME
What now? This is a question which torments most parents once their children have flown the nest.
Empty nest syndrome is a phenomenon in which parents are grief stricken when their children leave
their childhood home. This may happen when the children move out to study, to live on their own or
to get married. Most parents are overcome by a feeling of isolation and redundancy. They may miss
being a part of their child s daily life or worry excessively about their child s safety and well being.
Ever since this theme was discussed in class I reflected on it and thought of my two sets of
grandparents and how each of them had handled this situation, decades ago, in contrasting ways. It is a
well known fact that although Empty nest syndrome can affect both parents, mothers are more
susceptible. My paternal grandmother was a totally devoted mother of two sons. When both her sons
moved to different cities for higher studies, she was devastated. She was so accustomed to spending a
lot of time with them for the first eighteen years of their lives that when they departed she was
overwhelmed with loneliness and a sense of loss. Her children were the focus of her life and without
them she felt worthless. My grandfather too was sad and with only two of them at home, they both
would perpetually quarrel and complain. The only time they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Parents should accept this stage as a way of life and convert a perceived loss into an opportunity.
Focusing on some of the positive changes resulting from their children moving out can ease the sense

to rekindle their interests, their friendships and a time to widen their horizons. They should

  • 2. The Early Esbls 1.7.2.3 CTX M β lactamases Most of the early ESBLs were mainly ceftazidimases with little or no hydrolytic activity against cefotaxime. ESBLs often showed variable substrate preference with some enzymes hydrolyzing one cephalosporin type better than the others. The first enzyme with the capability of cefotaxime hydrolysis but unable to hydrolyze ceftazidime was reported from an E. coli strain isolated from a dog that was used as a model to study cephalosporin pharmacokinetics in Japan in 1986. It was initially named as FEC 1 but later found to be similar to CTX M 3 on subsequent amino acid sequencing. The first clinical isolate with cefotaximase property was identified From an E. coli isolate in 1989 in Munich, Germany. It was designated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The analysis revealed that the CTX M members of same group exhibited ≥94% identity while ≤90% with members of different groups. The evolutionary distances between groups reveal an early divergence from a common ancestor. Few members are shown below: CTX M 1 cluster: CTX M 1, 3, 10, 15, 22, 23 CTX M 2 cluster: CTX M 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 20, 76, 77 CTX M 8 cluster: CTX M 8, 40, 63 CTX M 9 cluster: CTX M 9, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 CTX M 25 cluster: CTX M 25, 26, 39, 41, 91 The origin of CTX M type β lactamases was very different from that of TEM or SHV type β lactamases (Bonnet, 2004).These enzymes show only 40% resemblance to two most common ESBLs, TEM and SHV. Each CTX M cluster has been correlated to the chromosomal bla genes present in different Kluyvera species, that normally form human intestinal normal flora at low counts. It is also considered as an opportunistic pathogen occasionally associated with infections of urinary tract and skin in humans [Farmer et al, 1981; Sarriaetal, 2001]. It also exists in the environment as a free living organism in water, soil, sewage and animal food. Chromosomal bla gene, kluC, present in Kluyvera cryocrescens (kluC) has been considered the ancestor of the CTX M 1cluster (Decousser et al., 2001). The enzymes of CTX M 2 cluster are believed to origin from kluA gene of Kluyvera ascorbata (Humeniuk et al., 2002), CTX M 8 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Paid Parental Leave Case Study Paid parental leave has been an issue of public and political debate since the early 1970s (Brennan, 2009), stemming from lobbying of the women s movement and women s liberation groups (Kramarae Spender, 2000). The first development towards paid parental leave was made in the late 1970s. At this time the union movement, in particular, the Australian Council of Trade Unions, successfully pushed for a woman s rights to access maternity leave by applying political pressure on the government of the day (Baird Murray, 2014). As a result women were able to access 52 weeks of unpaid maternity leave with jobs protected, access to this leave was granted to adoptive parents and fathers from the mid 1980 s (McCarthy, Jenkin Stewart, 2011). Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The release of the 2002 Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Report amplified the public and political pressure placed on the government to implement a national scheme (Baird Murray, 2014). A change in government at the 2001 election brought with it the strong conservative pragmatist approach of The Coalition government under the leadership of John Howard (Sawer, 1997). Policy changes made under the government during this time placed emphasis on women s fertility and motherhood rather than their contribution and importance within the labour market (Baird, 2005). Resulting from political pressure felt from paid leave advocates from both political and public spheres, the conservative government introduced the Baby bonus in 2002 to appease their constituents while maintaining their opposition to the introduction of a paid parental leave scheme. This demonstrates the government compromising to maintain a balance between the government s ideology and public and political support. The baby bonus supplied a small monetary bonus upon the birth of a child and was available, controversially, to both working and non working women (Baird, 2005). The government s implementation of various policies during their time in office showed ambivalence or possibly divides within the government surrounding whether women were to be supported as housewives or as wage earners (Brennan, 2007) with the baby bonus placing emphasis on a women s role as a carer rather than a contributor to the economy (Hill, 2006). Changes in family policies can be linked to demographic trends, especially when birth rates and women s workforce participation rose, resulting in increased demand on policy makers to alter policies to provide support and alleviate pressures felt by families (Gauthier, ... • 4. Characters In The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club brings many types of peoples, and many types of personalities together. I personally think I relate to all of them, not completely because they all have characteristics that I think I also have. John is this bad kid who does and says whatever he wants to do. Claire is the pristine goodie goodie. Allison is this strange girl who is considered to be a basket case. Andrew is the jock whose main concern is westing. Brian is a depressed brainiac. Firstly, I relate to John because he doesn t care what people think of him, and I typically don t try to listen to what people say about me. John does whatever he wants and says whatever he wants to, and most of the time it gets him in trouble. I sort of relate to that in a way because I do what I want to most of the time, but usually I make sure what I say and do keeps me out of trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don t consider myself a goodie goodie, but I am not know to stay out of trouble. Another character that I relate to is Allison. Allison is a strange high school student who is always on the outside and is weird. I consider myself to be weird when I am around certain people. I do not act how Allison acts in school, because I think I would be to afraid to be made fun of. The fourth character I relate to is Andrew, the jock. Andrew is a wrestler and is always getting into fights with people at school. I personally love volleyball and basketball. I do not relate to him in the fact that I do not get into fights. I feel if I did get into fight I would relate to him more. The final character person I relate to is Brian, the depressed brainiac. One reason I relate to Brian is that I consider myself smart. I do good in all my classes and I find myself enjoying school. The part were I don t relate to Brian is with his depression. I consider myself a happy person who wouldn t consider suicide, which in the movie Brian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Causation When looking at any historical event, it is vital to utilize logic, and not allow pride and other emotions to interfere. In order to understand a historical concept as intricate as, for example, multiple causation, a special, scholarly reasoning must be applied. Rather than trying to discover what one wishes to unearth, it is best to study documents with a spirit of humility. That being said, it cannot be disputed that multiple causation was indeed responsible for the Protestant Reformation. Using the elementary line of thought, which dictates that a single event caused the Reformation, is fruitless. It is important to elucidate the various events that are actually attributed to causing the Reformation. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The powerful social forces at work, which emerged from economic motives, were a separate cause of the Reformation. Luther and his supporters were one such social force, but were not the only ones. Merchants of the time were disgusted by the infusion of cash to Rome. The papacy was raking in all sorts of financial acquisitions, and the majority of people were paupers. The common folk living in the sixteenth century were upset at what they saw: a continuous drain on national wealth. It would only take a single person to begin sowing seeds of dissent among them: Martin Luther. Luther was part of the chain that developed the Reformation, but events had to occur before and after him to bring about the change. Another event needed to occur to ensure that Luther would be able to implement his plan: Charles V s dilemma. Unsure of the support he had, given that his own prince supported the reformers and had the power to incite a rebellion, Charles decided to play it safe. Admittedly, the Crown could have destroyed the rebellion in its infancy, but it did not. The Church itself also had the power to deal with the rebels. A quote from Gustavson carefully clarifies the reasons that it could not. After many centuries as the universal Church of Western Europe, it had undergone both a loss of ... • 6. Ender s Game Ender s Game is about a boy who, along with other children, goes to Battle School in space as preparation for going to war with an alien race, known as the Buggers, that has threatened mankind. It is set in the future. Ender s Game and its sequel Speaker for the Dead, written by Orson Scott Card, were both awarded the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award. The series continues with Xenocide, Children of the Mind, Ender s Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, First Meetings in the Enderverse , Shadow of the Giant, Shadows in Flight, A War of Gifts, and Ender in Exile. Ender in Exile takes place after Ender s Game and before Speaker for the Dead. Card also plans to write Shadows Alive, which connects the Shadow series and Speaker series. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major theme of the book is the concept of games. The context of the games helps interpret the other important ideas of the novel. The more the story unfolds, the harder it becomes to separate the games from reality. Ender s final game had a profound impact on his life, and it was, in fact, reality itself and not just a game as he had originally thought. Another theme is the relationship between children and adults. The children s lives are constantly contrasted with the lives of the adults. The children are capable of killing, manipulating, and hating, which are the worst features of adults, but they are also capable of creating and helping. Friends and enemies are another theme of the novel. Whether or not someone is a friend or enemy is never entirely clear. In the end, the ones who Ender thought were enemies, turned out to be friendly. Card proves that there are no clear distinctions between friends and enemies. The point of view in Ender s Game is that of the characters. It is not, however, limited to one character. Most of the novel is told in Ender s perspective, but there are parts, even whole chapters, where the point of view is switched to that of Valentine s, one of the adult s, or even Peter s. There are parts of the story where the commanders are talking about Ender and his progress . While in Valentine s point of view, the reader learns about what is happening on earth while Ender is in space. The point of view basically fills in all the holes for the ... • 7. Private Ryan Reflection Saving Private Ryan Generally I m not interested in war movies, but recently I had the opportunity to watch Saving Private Ryan. Despite my initial reservations, I thought that this movie was great because it showed all the facets of war and illustrated the emotions involved in war. It began with really gory scenes at Omaha Beach as part of the Normandy Invasion during World War II; This wasn t my favorite part, but it s a real part of war so it was important that they included it. As the movie continued, it went on to display the bond that occurs when men fight together in combat and the tough decisions that have to be made during the course of a war. This movie took place during World War II, specifically during D Day, in France. The movie follows Captain John H. Miller and a squad of seven men as they search for a paratrooper, Private Ryan. General George Marshall learns that three out of four brothers of the Ryan Family were killed In World War II and the fourth was missing when he went into France on D Day. He orders Captain Miller to find the missing brother and send him home so the Ryan family doesn t lose all of their children. Captain Ryan and his squad set out to find the missing soldier, although some of the soldiers have reservations about going. Throughout the journey they encounter other squads of U.S. troops and come across some German troops as well. We also find that Captain Miller must also make hard decisions not only for the good of his squad but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Examples Of Conflict In Tell Tale Heart The conflict in Edgar Allan Poe s Tell Tale Heart is man versus himself. In the first lines of the story, the speaker talks directly to the reader where he tries to convince the reader that he is not insane. However, we discover that he is mentally ill as we read more of the story. The character speaks against his purpose of pleading as mentally healthy. Ironically, his own speech convicts him. Therefore, it can be concluded that the narrator is on a mind battle with his own conscience. The narrator s background is a mystery to the reader but his characteristics were evidently presented on his way of narration. All the obsessive details and the whole elaborate plan the man narrated was enough evidence to confirm the reader that he is truly out of his mind. The narrator is obsessive, paranoid, and insane and these characteristics are the problems which led to the conflict. His too much thinking attitude was his own protagonist in the story. There is this eye which became the narrator s object of obsession. Whenever he sees the old man, he doesn t see the old man as a whole but sees the evil eye . In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story, the man has incredible intelligence. However, despite his cleverness, this man doesn t possess a heart. He doesn t have the passionate sense of humanity that would guide him to use his wit in achieving good goals. Instead, what happened was the reverse. The man used his powerful mind as a tool for evilness. So, what the author wants to say is that intelligence is not enough to make up a human being. One must have a heart which directs the head. This story entitled Tell Tale Heart is not only about the beating heart which led the main character to reveal his own doing but the heart also pertains to what is missing from him, a heart. Moreover, the story tells us that our conscience will always hunt us on the evil deeds we performed. Our hearts will always reveal the truth even if we want it or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In many ways, Socrates changed the idea of common philosophy in ancient Greece; he transformed their view on philosophy from a study of why the way things are, into a consideration man. Specifically, he analyzed the virtue and health of the human soul. Along side commending Socrates for his strong beliefs, and having the courage to stand by those convictions, Socrates can be commended for many other desirable characteristics. Instead, Socrates is charged with inventing new gods, and in doing so is corrupting the youth of Athens to whom, Socrates frequently preaches to about his theology. Socrates speech, however, is not an apology, as the name may suggest but rather an explanation of his beliefs. During his trial speech, Socrates makes frequent reference to his beliefs explaining that his behavior stems from a prophecy by the oracle at Delphi, which claims that he was the wisest of all men. Although Socrates is honest and direct about these beliefs, this did not sit well with many of the trial members who were evaluating him. Despite the fact that Socrates made frequent references to the fact that it is destined for him to be the wisest of all men, he also recognizes that he does in fact lack in knowledge when it comes to world affairs. To which, Socrates states only adds to his wisdom as he is aware of the fact that he does not know everything and that realization alone makes him wiser than most other men. The Impact Of Piracy On The Internet Essay The Impact of Piracy According to the Motion Pictures Association of America website, A pirate is anyone who sells, acquires, copies or distributes copyrighted materials without permission. Over the past ten years, technology has greatly advanced, and with these technological advances, digital file sharing easier than ever. • 17. Comparing Havisham And Valentine Havisham and Valentine are both poems written by Carol Ann Duffy. They both develop the idea of what love is really about, while being two completely different interpretations about love. The poet reveals the link between the two poems using a variety of techniques; Duffy expresses the reality of love in Valentine in contrast to the exaggeration that love is a thing of hate in Havisham . Valentine directly tells the reader what love really is, Not a red rose or a satin heart / not a cute car or a kissogram. Duffy takes away the materialistic side of love on Valentines Day, and looks at it realistically, using an onion as a gift, instead. Imagery is used effectively in Valentine to develop the key idea. I give you an onion. It is a moon... this metaphor is used to express the idea of a gift larger than what it appears to be. The poet reveals the truth about love: It s fierce kiss will stay on your lips, possessive and faithful. In effect this shows that love can be controlling. • 23. Old Age And The Process Of Aging This paper argues that gerontology, the study of old age and the process of aging, have overlooked gender inequality within policies of patriarchal structures, and within the ideologies of western capitalist society. This is a major source of women s social and economic powerlessness in old age. Ray (1996) explains feminist gerontology as a connection between feminism and gerontology focusing on gender and gender relations. Feminist gerontology deals with populations of both women and men, and through the connection between gender, conclusions in research on women are drawn from building upon research based on men (Calasanti, 2004). Patriarchal structure of western society still maintains the core preference of traditional gender roles, which lead to familiar results in old age. The manifestation of this ideology can be seen in advertisement in media and again repeated within institutions of political and educational domains. Its ability to take several forms produces the root of issues of inequality in old age and difficulty women face compared to men. Gender, within research of gerontology is relatively recent in its consideration in exploring the experience of elderly in western society (Wray, 2003). Therefore, differentiating between genders is done through describing the obstacles that women face in old age compared to men, such as gap in life expectancy, where women tend to live longer than men (Backes et al., 2006). After researching both concepts I learned about new things, our brain wants ever so badly to compare these new things to something that we already know about. What do they have in common? And we want to also know how are they differing from contrast? For this paper I choose The Lasik Vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Call Register Online for a FREE Consultation. • 31. Medicine in Colonial Days Essay The Colonial Period The improvement of medicine over the course of the human successes gave great convenience to the people of today. Science has cured and prevented many illnesses from occurring and is on its way to cure some of the most dreadful and harmful illnesses. As the world modernizes due to the industrialization, so does the ways of medicine. Some cures are approached by chance, some, through intense, scientific measures. Medicine has come a long way from the Greek period. Theories composed of the four elements were used to explain the sick phenomenon that happens to our bodies. Many of the those theories are not relevant as of now. Medicine and remedies has begun with the Earth, providing all types of compounds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning with the newly founded nation: America, many colonial people encountered illnesses they have never been subjected to. Despite the different times in history, there is a similarity that is still ongoing today. Those who have little income or live in rural settings have trouble obtaining the health they need when an illness occurs. Hospitals are either too far to reach in time or the bills are too expensive to pay. Now, there are countries who offer free health care but it does not pertain to the land of America. America is based on money, and the old ways of paying back someone through bales of wheat or firewood just will not cut it. There were doctors in Colonial America. When a doctor visits a patient to check upon the sick person s health, their pay will be in anything but money such as chopped woods, vegetables, et cetera for the poor people. The poor people did not have money as stated in A Visit to a Colonial Times Doctor s Office. They usually rely on their farming to feed their families and things such as money were scarce. Those who are of the contrary to the low income and the rural settings have better access to health and opportunities as written in Colonial Medicine (5). They can pay their doctor on the spot and can even request their choice of doctors. In modern America, a new change to the health care business is arriving. With the currently new healthcare, everyone shall be able to hopefully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Foundations of Psychology Foundations of Psychology Psychology is an academic and applied discipline involving the scientific study of mental processes and behavior. There is some tension between scientific psychology (with its program of empirical research) and applied psychology (dealing with a number of areas). Psychologists attempt to explain the mind and brain in the context of real life. In contrast neurologists utilize a physiological approach. Psychologists study such phenomena as perception, cognition, emotion, personality, behavior, and interpersonal relationships. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity including issues related to daily life e.g. family, education, and work and the treatment of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The school of thought known as structuralism was initiated by Edward Titchener, one of Wundt s students. This school of thought was called structuralism because of Titchener s interest in the structural make up of consciousness. It was Ticthener s hope to devise a table of the levels, or elements of human consciousness using Wundt s introspection idea. Ticthener viewed psychology scientifically. He believed that the only way to understand psychology was through experimentation. This eventually led to the idea that sensation and feelings were unscientific because it could not be measured by anyone but the person experiencing it. The second school of thought that was popular in psychology s beginning was known as functionalism. This school of though focused on the role psychological processes have on helping people adapt to their surroundings. Functionalists believe that consciousness exists because it serves a function (Kowalski Westen, 2005). William James, one of the founders of functionalism, set out to explain why we think the way that we do. These two schools of thought branch out even further to offer assumptions or perspectives on these theories. Psychodynamic, behaviorist, cognitive, and evolutionary perspectives help to expand psychological thinking and guide psychological studied. Psychodynamic and behaviorist perspectives will be covered since the last two are more recent perspectives. Sigmund Freud emphasis was on psychodynamics. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Definition Essay-Empty Nest Syndrome EMPTY NEST SYNDROME What now? This is a question which torments most parents once their children have flown the nest. Empty nest syndrome is a phenomenon in which parents are grief stricken when their children leave their childhood home. This may happen when the children move out to study, to live on their own or to get married. Most parents are overcome by a feeling of isolation and redundancy. They may miss being a part of their child s daily life or worry excessively about their child s safety and well being. Ever since this theme was discussed in class I reflected on it and thought of my two sets of grandparents and how each of them had handled this situation, decades ago, in contrasting ways. It is a well known fact that although Empty nest syndrome can affect both parents, mothers are more susceptible. My paternal grandmother was a totally devoted mother of two sons. When both her sons moved to different cities for higher studies, she was devastated. She was so accustomed to spending a lot of time with them for the first eighteen years of their lives that when they departed she was overwhelmed with loneliness and a sense of loss. Her children were the focus of her life and without them she felt worthless. My grandfather too was sad and with only two of them at home, they both would perpetually quarrel and complain. The only time they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents should accept this stage as a way of life and convert a perceived loss into an opportunity. Focusing on some of the positive changes resulting from their children moving out can ease the sense of loss and help them to see the brighter side of their future. This can be a stage of exploration, a time to rekindle their interests, their friendships and a time to widen their horizons. They should demonstrate to their children that they re getting on with their life so that the children can embrace their new life without any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
