Iphone Report
Principles of Marketing Report on the UK marketing environment for the iPhone
Executive Summary
This report will analyze and discuss the most important elements of the marketing
environment for the launch of the iPhone, that is to say the main three levels of the
marketing environment: the micro environment through the customers, competitors
and distributors, the macro environment through technological, economical, social,
political and environmental forces and finally the internal environment through the
relation of Apple with its employees and its marketing philosophy. The analysis for
the micro environment is based on Porter s 5 forces model and the one on the macro
environment is based on PEST analysis. The report ... Show more content on

Apple has already sold more than 39 million iPods in 2006, thus the company can
count on its existing customers for the iPhone. The other potential customers for this
product can also be: the people interested by technology or technophobes, middle
and high class segments who are willing to pay more for a better user experience,
professionals in media and design and finally young people who are interested by the
image reflected by the product.
Competitors
With the iPhone, unlike the iPod, Apple is not creating a new market it is muscling
the mobile market (BBC). In fact in the UK, more than 80% of the households have
already a mobile phone; however the mobile market is changing so the customers are
not only buying a mobile phone for its functionality but also for the other features that
it can provide such as the design for example. Since, there is an established market;
there will be two main types of competition: one against the distributor and another
one against the product.
The competition against the distributor is particularly important in this case as there
is only one company distributing it in the UK: O2. One of the rapid reactions to the
launch of the iPhone; is by Vodafone who has created a service called Music Station
to be launched for Christmas and which will give unlimited access to its customers to
more than 1 million music tracks.
Concerning the competition against the iPhone itself, there are already mobile
phones in the market that provide

The Core
Sometimes movies appear to be very scientific but in reality are complete opposite.
Does that necessarily make it bad movie? That is a personal opinion, but to me
personally I can t really get behind a scientific movie that isn t backed up by
science. The Core written by John Rogers and Cooper Layne and directed by Jon
Amiel, is one of the worst movies if you are comparing the movie details to
scientific facts. In the following paragraphs and pages I will compare the movie to
scientific facts, to show how inaccurate the film really is.
So the whole movie is based off that the idea that the earth s core is going to stop
spinning which causes the earth to have terrible disasters, so a team of scientists
have to travel to the center of the earth to bomb it. In the movie it says the earths
magnetic field is caused by the earths spinning outer layer which is true however it
does not spin in one direction, it spins in very complicated circuits. The problem in
the movie is that earths outer layer of the core all of a sudden stops and it never
gives a reason as of why it stops. In order for this layer of the core stop an enormous
force would have to have a great impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That right there tells just how silly the idea of that really is. As if that wasn t bad
enough it gets worse. The character in the mvoie who has to travel to set this bomb
off is in a ship called Virgil. On his way, the ship side swipes a diamond creating a
hole in the ship, even though the hole is not very large. The pressure and heat the
ship is in would cause the outside material to flow into the ship with an explosive
The Rise Of The Qing Dynasty
During the years 1851 1866 there was massive civil war, or as some would consider
it, a rebellion in China. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war
of the nineteenth century, but likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012)
The ruling government was the Qing dynasty, who had been in power since the mid
1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country including natural
disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a
substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living
conditions and with the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in
economic status between the lower class and the wealthy members of the
government. This social tension along with Chinabeing defeated militarily by France
and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the
Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new
Han Chinesedynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013)
The Taiping Rebellion impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese
lower class learned to fight for social change, which lead to other rebellions, and, at
the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s intolerance for and
ability to thwart societal change. The first main impact the rebellion had on Chinese
history was that the Chinese people, who were possibility influence by the American

Axum Political Axum is located in northeast of Ethiopia. Axum had a strong army
and a really rich kingdom. The king who brought Axum to its height is King Ezana.
Axum had controlled all the exchange in the East. Social In Axum there was a

Delicia Carter Complaint
Delicia Carter and I brought in my daughter yesterday evening into the Urgent
Care. When I arrived, there was no one at the desk to greet me or ask what my
check complaint was. I proceed to sit down until someone returned back to the
front desk. After about 15 minutes went by, a young lady returned and sat down
and did not acknowledge that I was waiting. I then went to her desk and told her I
was trying to get my daughter seen for abdominal pain. The young lady asked for
me to fill out paper work and bring it back up and when I finished. That took about
5 7 minutes for me to complete. I returned the paperwork and she told me to have a
seat and the nursewould be right out to bring me back. After about another 20
minutes, I returned to the test
The Importance Of Workplace Diversity
Workplace diversity is when there is diverse culture of individuals in the workplace.
It is when there is a value placed on the variety of ideas, race, ethnicities, religion,
gender, sexuality and orientation, which is flourishing in an environment. Depending
on your employer and workplace, workplace diversitycan vary based off several
different factors. Usually, there is a preferential standpoint taken on the matter and it
can be either display a high or a low context cultureof diversity. According to Mason
(2013) Workforce diversity has been described as a double edged sword; it has the
potential for positive and negative outcomes (p.659). Workplace diversity is
important in a business setting because it carries forward a combination of different
types of people to worktogether in unity, encourages uniqueness, innovative, creative
approaches, and supports interesting divergent ideas to accomplish tasks or goals.
Benefits of a high workplace diversity environment is it not being stuck to
conformity in group thinking, or being narrow minded with similar thoughts and
having preference to only be around people who think like you do which is known
as the diversity paradox . According to a quote stated from Friedrich Nietzsche,
Hackett (2014) The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher
esteem those who think alike than those who think differently (p. 415). Instead, it
reiterates the importance of having a diverse workplace because it constructs better
ideas, coming from different minds, and build upon each other through
brainstorming. However, a poor workplace diversity can also adversely affect one s
motivation, which leads to overall job dissatisfaction and demotivation. When there
is poor workplace diversity, you can see less communication barriers and cultural
resistance, but it also makes it harder for individuals to get used to working with
others that aren t the same as them. This can become a form of adversity for
businesses if their employees cannot develop a strong skill set to adapt with not only
coworkers but also customers in the environment. Therefore, better communication
and interaction skills are essential to promoting a business and making it successful.
The Realm Of Telecommunication Services
Introduction
In the realm of telecommunication services, the application of ex ante regulation has
been considered as the mainstream of this industry until the recent tendency
specially by EU towards shifting from ex ante to ex post competition law. Those
who are advocating this shift to ex post competitions have put their effort into
deregulating and narrowing the scope and applicability of the ex ante rules. The
latter mentioned rules are very essential to perform as protector of the consumers
rights and interests. Although the relationship in the telecom marketplace seems to
be bilateral between the service providers at one side and the small and end
consumers at the other side, but still the nature of this relationship remains very
much influenced by the powerful party namely, the service providers. So there is a
vital necessity for a protecting mechanism in favor of the consumers which so far has
been fulfilled by ex ante rules. In regard to this fact, in case of deregulating the ex
ante regulations, what substitutes this protection toolkit for the consumers interests
against the poor and low quality services and outcomes in the telecom sector? This
present essay is trying to identify the key issues and possible solutions to this
question.
Ex ante versus ex post in telecom sector
In the telecommunication sector the ex ante rules refer to a system of regulation that
proactively requires for the prior approval and prediction for activities and disputes
may arise
Relationship Between Age And Cognitive Functions
We enter this world with an immense potential and what is felt as an abundance of
opportunities. We grow older and we learn through everything we do and encounter
in life. With the new knowledge we acquire we make decisions, we see the world
different and we adapt to changes. As we continue to grow older, these Cognitive
functions start declining and the way we problem solve or the way our minds work
start to slow down. Therefore, research has been very intrigued in better
understanding the higher levels of functions in cognitionin adults and later in life for
a certain reasons (Salthouse, 2012). Salthouse (2012), mentions in his article a brief
review on studies focused on the relationship between age and cognitive functions. It
is stated in the article that with higher levels of cognition the better an individual will
function on the job, for example, training and achievements in job performance.
Additionally, as an individual grows older they begin to use more fluid problem
solving skills rather than crystallized measure of cognition (Salthouse, 2012).
Additionally, Kemper and McDowd (2008) also conducted a study of the was aging
can affect an individuals cognitive abilities. They did cognitive measures that were
more centered on the verbal fluency of the individual. Verbal fluency is one of the
executive functioning skills that concentrates on the individuals ability to make more
than one item that meet one single criteria. Based on the scores of these tests,
Why The Hierarchal Structure Of Leadership Has Worked
For...
With the ever changing times, people suggest that a new form of leadership, shared
leadership, where power is distributed may be more effective than the traditional
hierarchal structure of leadership. However, with this idea of changing workplace
structure, one must remember why the hierarchal structure of leadershiphas worked
for so long. Hierarchical leadership is important to the workplace because employees
are motivated to perform to improve their status in the company, feel open to voice
concerns their leaders, and there are peaceful interactions between same level group
members. Others will suggest that shared leadership is more effective because it
offers the opportunity for everyone to be involved and the chance for innovation that
would lack in the traditional form of leadership. Hierarchical structureis important in
the workplace because employees are motivated to perform and improve their status
within the company. People often respond to incentives, whether it be a promotion
or a bonus. There are motivations behind one s performance. In both shared and
hierarchal leadership, there are incentives to perform. According to Christopher
Barnes, of the Military Academy at West Point and his collaborators in Mixing
Individual Incentives and Group Incentives: Best of Both Worlds or Social
Dilemma?, when individuals are given both individual and team goals, such as in
shared leadership, members are placed in a social dilemma, and focus on individual
rather than group
Helios Sun Rise Essay
The reason why the sun rises every morning and sets every evening is because one
of reasons and one reason only. The evil spirits and malevolent creatures that hide in
the darkness of the world. It is said that Helios, the sun god, protects every single
human on Earth. Helios has a very tremendous task everyday and that is to drive his
sunchariot across the sky from East to West. The sun chariot has four horses with
fiery manes and tremendous power. Helios is a very powerful god that can barely
control the horses. On the days where he can not control the horses, it becomes rainy
and cloudy because whenever the chariot streaks the skies, it pushes away all the
badness. The light pushes them away. It is said that a couple million years ago, that

Rumour has it that this was because his son was born, Phaeton, and Helios forgot
to drive the chariot across the sky. Since then, Helios vowed that he will never let
that happen again. So he left his family and never saw them again. It was a hard
sacrifice, but it was very important that he did that. Phaeton grew up with his
mortal mother, he was bullied at school for telling his peers that his dad was the
sun. One day phaeton had enough and ran out of the school angrily. As he was
walking to his house, it appeared like the sun had gotten brighter. Phaeton looks into
the sun but was not blinded by it. Instead he saw the sun chariot with the shape of a
human being in it. Phaeton runs home and tells his mother what he saw, but his
mother only acted like he was crazy. He asks his mother where his dad was and she
pointed up. Meaning that he died but really she meant that he was in the sky. But
Phaeton did not understand that part. He believed that she meant that his father was
dead. When night came, the mother and son went to sleep in their rooms, and the
mother had a visitor. It was Helios, this upset the mother and caused her to yell at
him to be at home more
How Did Adam Goodes Influence Australia
Adam Goodes
Sports have been a part of the Australian culture for as long as we can remember.
Adam Goodes is one major example of our success in Sports. A member of
Indigenous Team of the Century and Sydney Swans, he professionally plays in The
Australian Football League. Holding a dual Brownlow Medal, dual premiership
player and four time All Australian, he represents Australiain the International Rules
Series.
Adam Goodes, born 8th of January of year 1980, age 35, is one of the most
revered AFL players in our history. Born to Lisa May and Graham Goodes, with
siblings Jake and Brett in South Australia, he began to play Australian rules Football

Standing at 191 cm and weighing 100 kg, Goodes, though part aboriginal, has
impacted the Australia s sporting and cultural activity. Goodes was once
controversial for his style of playing, he retaliated with a no. He will not change
his way of playing though there are critics. Goodes did a pretty good job in his
field, earning encouragement and followers. Outside his football career, he is an
active advocate of Anti Racism and Charity. He founded the Go Foundation.
Goodes is affiliated with charity. He raised $27,000 for his aid organization.
Goodes often spoke out for improved race relations and says that he is a proud
Adnyamathanha man, He became involved in an incident on May 24, 2013,
during Sydney s Indigenous Round match against Collingwood, when a 13 year
old girl sitting in the stands called him an ape. Goodes stopped play to point out the
girl to security and demand that she be ejected. Though he clarifies that he has not
pointed her out to have everyone against her, but rather he even asked that people
support the girl much as they support him. He stated that he did what he did because
the girl and the people who heard may be educated and a situation like it never
happens again. That opportunity to not only educate a 13 year old girl but help
educate other members who sit in the football crowds, people in the communities,
people in the society, that those sort of things
My Great Grandfather
In 1897, my great great grandfather was born in North Carolina. His name was Roy
Hudson. He served in the army in World War One and he died in 1960 from a
lengthy issue with his heart. His heart issues started when he developed pleurisy,
most likely from sleeping on the cold, wet ground while in the Army during World
War One. He was only sixty three years old when he died. Just before he died, he
gave his wife, my great great grandmother, his glasses, a book, and a billfold. My
great great grandmother s name was Roland Goddard. She was born in 1898 in North
Carolina, and her parents died when she was only eight years old. She was very
active in her community, and acted in community plays. She was very kind, and she
sang beautifully. In 1979, she died when she was eighty one years old. One of
RolandВґs children, Doris Hudson, was born in North Carolina in 1927. She is my
great grandmother, and she is still living. She is ninety years old and I call her
Gaga. She fell a few months ago and could not walk for a while, but she recovered
and is now able to walk slowly. When I was too young to go to daycare, she would
babysit me all day. She thought that is was alright for me to eat cookies when I
could barely eat solid food. She also thought that I was hungry every time that I
cried, therefore I was a very chubby baby. She had three children; Bobby Rose,
Jacquelyn Jackie Rose, and Jerry Rose. Jackie is my grandmother. She was born in
Virginia, but moved to Buras, Louisiana, then later moved to Shreveport,
Louisiana. She played outfield on a semi professional softball team, and she was a
teacher, although she retired after the 2016 2017 school year. She had two children;
Michael Marino, and Jamie Marino. Jamie is my mother. She was born in Virginia,
but moved to Buras, Louisiana, then to Shreveport, Louisiana. She currently teaches
music at Sunset Acres Elementary, but she has held other teaching jobs as an
English or history teacher. She received her Bachelor s degree in teaching at LSUS,
and received her Master s degree in teaching through online classes at Northwestern
University. She served in the secret service under President Bush, and met Dick
Chaney, Bush s Vice President from 2001 2009. She has three

Henry Flagler was an American capitalist, entrepreneur and industrialist born in
Hopewell, New York who founded Standard Oil, an oil refining industry, and
bridged and extended his Florida East Coast Railway to Miami in order to make his
hotel ventures more accessible. This extension became apparent when Flagler visited
St. Augustine, Floridawith his second wife viewing it as an endearing location, yet
deficient in sufficient resorts and transportation systems. He invested and
purchased the Jacksonville, Halifax and St. Augustine railroad which led to the
establishment of the Florida East Coast Railway. Flagler saw probable prospect in
Florida to be a major tourist attraction. As Flagler s luxury hotels were expanding
and reaching all parts of Florida, the citizens of Florida wanted to acclaim Flagler
for building channels, streets, introducing power and water structures/systems and
creating a name for Florida. They wished to name the town Flagler in honor of
him; however he respectfully declined insisting that the town be named Miami an
Indian name originating from the river that the city was established around. Here
Flagler opens the Hotel Royal Palm, one of his many hotels stretching over his
more than 2 million acres of land owned in Florida. During the next few years of his
life, Flagler dedicated himself in emerging and evolving Florida. He conceived the

This is because the fuel injector was placed on the upper side of the block making
it sprays fuel exactly at the hole. He also taught the trainee about the proper timing
of the valve and fuel injector, and also the sequence of firing inside the engine
cylinders. For a 4 cylinder engine, order of firing was 1 3 2 4.For a 6 cylinder engine,
firing was 1 4 2 6 3 5. And for an 8 cylinder, v type engine, firing was 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2.
These firing orders were not constant at all engines; it is just only based on the
trainee s experience. Firing orders were variable and based on the manufacturers
design in order to minimize vibration.
On the following days, the trainee had already worked just like a regular employee
of the Keppel. Starting on that time, he was not an assistant or a helper any longer
just like on his first day of OJT, but one of maintenance personnel on that
department. He experienced installing engine parts like flywheel, injectors, radiator,
manifolds, valves and timing gears. He also performed top hauling a six cylinder
engine, disassembling a v type engine which composed of eight cylinders, removing
water pump and making gaskets out of paper folder.
Not only engines were repaired under maintenance department, they also repair
pumps. Most common type of pump that was used on the Keppel shipyard was the
piston type pump. It consists of three cylinders and operated using high speed motor.

An Investigation Based On The Arrhenius Law
INTRODUCTION
This investigation is based on the Arrhenius law, A formula created by Professor
Svante Arrhenius that combines the Boltzmann distribution law with the concept of
activation energy (Stephen Lower 2011a) to depict one of the most important
relationships between temperature and rate of reaction in chemistry to date. In the
formula,
K = e ≈ 2.71828
A = Arrhenius constant = Activation Energy
RT = Average kinetic energy (Universal gas constant Г
— Temperature in Kelvins) In
this experiment, the main focus is placed on the Arrhenius plot, which is derived
through the manipulation of the Arrhenius equation to remove its exponential form
by taking the natural log of both sides of the equation which forms lnk=lnA E_A/RT A

This topic appealed to me, as it seemed like a sound concept in theory, but could not
find any discussion based on using the Arrhenius plot for physical processes.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
2.1 Sublimation; an endothermic process
Sublimation is the term describing the transition of a substance from the solid phase
to the gas phase without passing through an intermediary liquid phase. (Anne Marie
Helmenstine 2014a) It is a physical change of state, which occurs at temperatures
and pressures below the triple point of the substance, the point where the temperature
and pressure causes the 3 phases: solid, liquid and vapour, of a single component
system to be in equilibrium. (Blackwell Scientific Publications Oxford 1997) This
definition shows that sublimation is a purely physical process; so a substance does
not undergo a chemical reaction during sublimation.
This diagram represents a typical endothermic reaction: Fig. 2: Endothermic reaction
enthalpy change (hferrier n.d.)
As displayed in figure 2, a substance requires kinetic energy greater or equal to its
activation energy in order for it to change from its initial form to its product. The
activation energy shown is one of the pathways that a reaction takes with respect to
the pressure that it is subjected to. Consider that for a substance to change from its
solid phase to its gas phase the bonds are all fixed in a position and when the
particles have enough energy, they are able to

The accumulation of our hostility eventually came to fruition as we debated how
we would be able to make it to a lesson with an investigator later in the week, seeing
as we were very short on miles left that we could drive our car. Irritation started to
creep into my mind as our conversation steered more towards the conclusion of us
having to just walk to four miles to our appointment. I was agitated by this not
because I felt that the distance was too far, or too difficult. But because I felt that it
could have been mitigated if we hadn t wasted all of our miles on driving out to the
edges of our area to knock doors. Leaving us with not enough miles to go to our
appointments. After a brief silence in our conversation I made a comment about
how we wouldn t be in this situation if we didn t already waste all of our miles. The
tires squeal, we slide into a gravel lot outside a trailer park. Elder Shouse gets out
of the car and starts yelling as he walks away. The passenger door swings open and
Elder Shouse looms over me. His face was red and the vein on his forehead was
bulging, as it usually did when Elder Shouse was extremely angry. Through gritted
teeth, he hissed, We re going back to the apartment and you re going to call president

The Extent Of Success Of The Land Registration Act 2002
The Extent of Success of the Land Registration Act 2002
Introduction
Being one of the most extensive law reforms of the Law Commission, Land
Registration Act 2002 aims to create a flawless legal framework for land registration,
especially in terms of conveyancing with emphasis on overriding interests and
adverse possession. It is agreed that the Land Registration Act 2002 (hereafter LRA
2002), by putting emphasis on strict registration, moved the idea of land ownership
from ownership by possession to bureaucratization of title via registration. Therefore,
LRA 2002 is said to bring further strictness and clarity to land ownership and
subsequent conveyancing. In conjunction, LRA 2002 was expected to bring an e
conveyancing revolution to land registration which was awaited to be a major
success. Although steps are taken towards this development, it is claimed that there
is still long way to go before a complete and problem free e conveyancing system.
Apart from matters relating to conveyancing, LRA 2002 consists of sections
regarding overriding interests where their number and scope are widely reduced with
specifications of registration introduced. Moreover, the Act includes strictly drafted
provisions about adverse possession, aiming to bring further restrictions to this matter
by bringing further difficulties to the acquisition of title and therefore shifting from a
squatter prone approach to a registered owner supporting view.
E Conveyancing: Conveyancing Revolution
Analysis Of The Vertical Video Revolution By Dan Kois
The video, The Vertical Video Revolution, narrated by Dan Kois presents a series
of supports and objections to Kois hypothesis that the wide frame video creates a
better medium for cinematic art than vertical video. After some comedic editing
and a brief description of the growing use of vertical video, Kois poses the
question: What is the art in vertical video? Kois gives a few examples of vertical
video s current usage and raises concern about this vertical video viewing generation.
His main concern is that if this generation is accustomed to vertical videos on their
smartphones and tablets, then Hollywood will try to cash in on viewer preferences
and create vertical films. From the two minute point to circa minute six, Kois
presents his argument, which has three central points: 1)the spectacle of theater can
only be fully captured horizontally, 2) the space on a horizontal screen allows a
visible connection between two characters which the vertical screen cannot capture,
and 3)the horizontal screen has room for multiple individuals to be presented
simultaneously, while when done so vertically, the screen seems overcrowded....

The last segment of the video is a rebuttal against his argument. The rebuttal mainly
points to the changing nature of the cinematic medium and that Kois, himself, might
be like the individuals who said that the use of sound or color would not be
effective in films, clutching on to past modes of expression while a better, more
expressive form exists. For example, The Grand Budapest Hotel beautifully uses a
vertical aspect ratio to create an implied meaning, so an artistically rich vertical
filming technique is
I Am A United States Sailor
I am a United States Sailor. I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States of America and I will obey the orders of those appointed over me. I represent
the fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before me to defend
freedom and democracy around the world. I proudly serve my country s Navy
combat team with Honor, Courage and Commitment. I am committed to
excellence and the fair treatment of all. When I say the Sailor s Creed I do not just
mindlessly recite a few meaningless words and call it a day. These words represent
the core responsibilities taken on by those who serve in our Navy, and therefore, are
the cornerstones by which I serve and carry out my day to day job. As a Second
Class Petty Officerof the Navy and a Collateral Duty Inspector for multiple work
centers I have a responsibilityto my shipmates, my command and my Navy.
Faltering in or disregarding these responsibilities can result in the loss of time,
aircraft, friends, family and life as a whole. An act unforgivable by all and a
constant reminder of the burden placed upon me. The impacts of my actions as a
Second Class Petty Officer and as a Collateral Duty Inspector go past me, my
family, my work center and even my own command. I have the ability to affect and

Theodicy And The Manifestation Of Evil
Theodicy in its most common form, attempts to answer the question why a good
God permits the manifestation of evil. Some theodicies also address the evidential
problem of evil by attempting to make the existence of an all knowing, all powerful
and all good or omnibenevolent God consistent with the existence of evilor suffering
in the world. Unlike a defense, which tries to demonstrate that Gods existence is
logically possible in the light of evil, a theodicy attempts to provide a framework
wherein God s existence is also plausible. God exists in our understanding. He
created us perfectly with His likeness but then I believe that it is us who get to pick
what we wanted to become. It is like Lucifer in catholic teachings.... Show more

Prejudice And Homosexuality And Sexual Love And Moral...
Isaiah Hines Phil. 2306 43430 05/14/2015
Prejudice and Homosexuality Sexual Love and Moral Experience For many years
homosexuality and sex with out marriage has been condemned and debated most
with in America . In all standards, homosexual men and women have been denied
many rights within the land of the free and home of the brave. And if they have a(n)
desire to want to be in the military then they are supposed to withhold their sexual
orientation and preference, since this particular discrimination has infiltrated America,
then those who are homosexual can not really considered this their home of the brave
then. The defining term and context of Homosexuality comes in play, when someone
is physically, emotionally, and/or sexually attracted to their same gender., This
particular sexual attraction which D.P. Verner parallels with Mohr on the context of
sexual love and this phenomenon of sexual attraction rather it be homosexual or
heterosexual all stems from the psychological notation and theory of Freud
Sigmund. Now, specifically in the article of Prejudice and Homosexuality by
Richard D Mohr, there are few statistics about homosexuality that tend to be a
somewhat out of date when referring to the society that we live in today, that is
leaning towards the tolerance of homosexuality. In the article theirs few analytical
statistics for 1948 and 1993, in which you see the gay civil right moving rapidly,
towards becoming less prejudice and discriminating every
Baz Luhrmann Research Paper
The art of directing is specific to the director, and directors often add their own unique
personality to their films. Baz Luhrmann is no exception to this, since his background
has greatly influenced his directing style. Born in 1962 in Sydney, Australia, he has
extensive knowledge in ballroom dancing, theater, and music. Because of this,
Luhrmann enjoys including theatrical details that derive from his colorful past,
giving them a show like quality that make his movies stand out. Luhrmann seamlessly
incorporates his past into his movies. Because he used to direct stage productions, he
enjoys integrating theater like features into his films. One method Luhrmann uses to
achieve this is called red curtain cinema, which is when a framing structure opens and
closes the film. With this technique, Luhrmann makes it obvious that his movies are
withdrawn from reality. Much like how curtains mark the start and end of a theatrical

Luhrmann uses fast cuts during times of anxiety and these scenes are common in
every type of movie. He seems to have mastered the art of creating chaos through
editing, which is something I found difficult when editing my first sound film. To
accomplish this, Luhrmann uses several different angles to show various reactions of
numerous people. Personally, budget restraints will hinder this, but it does teach me
that during chaotic scenes, the more angles, the better. To sum up, Baz Luhrmann
enhances his films by exaggerating them and making them play out like a stage
production. He accomplishes this by using red curtain cinema, color, plot choices,
and editing. These techniques are influenced by his theater driven past and therefore
show his personality. His movies vary from others and are a unique take on
filmmaking because he combines both theater and film into one. Luhrmann serves as
an excellent example of how individuality can help you express your own creative
Flanker Brands
A brand portfolio is all the lines and brands that a company offers. The four brand
roles in a brand portfolio are flankers, cash cows, low end entry, and high end
prestige (Kotler Keller, 2012, p. 123). Flanker brands are usually in addition to a
brand that is offering a high quality product at a higher price (Giddens). The flanker
is supposed to help gain market share without cannibalizing the main brand. A good
example of a flanker brand is Squire Guitars. Squire guitars are about half the price
as Fender guitars. They all look very similar but are lower quality and most are made
at a lower cost outside the United States. Cash cow brands generally have dwindling
sales but remain profitable. They require minimal marketingsupport so
Mobile Phones And Its Impact On The World
Introduction:
Decades ago, mobile phones were large, cumbersome, and expensive devices. A
mobile phone can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving
around a wide geographic area. Through this, business men could see the value of
being able to communicate while on the move so they were willing to pay the price
and put up with the inconvenience. The first handheld mobile phone was
demonstrated in 1973 by John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper, using a handset
that weighed around 4.4 pounds (2 kg). Gradually over the next twenty years, the
prices dropped and the device got smaller and smarter. In fact, it got so popular that
the worldwide subscription grew 12.4 million to over 6 billion, penetrating ... Show

The phone weighed around 2.5 pounds, and was incredibly large. It took ten hours to
charge, and only had thirty minutes of talk time. The first commercial, buyable phone
was launched in 1983 and cost about 4000 dollars. It had thirty minutes of talk time, a
six hour battery life, and could store thirty numbers.
The first commercial cellular network was launched in 1979 Japan by Nippon
Telegraph and Telephone (NTT). North America s first cellular network was
launched by Ameritech around 1980. In 1981, Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT)
launched its own network for Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark; many other
countries followed in the early to mid 1980s. These networks were called 1G, first
generation.
Mid 1980s 1990 With the introduction of first generation technology came the
existence of Nokia s Mobira Senator. It was very big and bulky, weighing an
incredible 22 pounds. It was not a very mobile phone, but it was a large milestone
considering its use of 1G technology. The buyable version of Motorola s DynaTAC
also used 1G technology, specifically North America s first by Ameritech.
The Mobira Talkman, another Nokia product, was released in 1984. It had longer
talk time and was generally cheaper, and also was more compact and smaller.
In 1989, something incredible happened. Motorola released the MicroTAC, which
was the first flip phone, as well as the first pocket

Who hosts and who sponsors the CVE database listing Web site?
CVE stands for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures. The Mitre Corporation ,
under contract with the Department of Homeland Security (sponsor) and the U.S.
National Cyber Security
Division (sponsor), is responsible for hosting the CVE database listing web site. The
CVE listing is a database of known software vulnerabilities and exposures and how to

more information regarding the identified vulnerability, exploits, and any risk
mitigation solution?
The CVE references found at the bottom of the vulnerability table.
8. What is the major difference between Zenmap and OpenVAS?
The second step of the ethical hacking process typically consists of two parts: port
scanning and vulnerability assessment. Zenmap (Nmap) is used to perform an
initial IP host discovery as well as scan for ports/services. OpenVAS is used to scan

Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey
I don t know why my life is of interest to you, as far as I m concerned, I didn t do
anything miraculous, like raise the dead or cure cancer. But if my story will
motivate someone to fight against human injustice, then I will tell you all about it.
My story began as Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, on a cold February day
around 1818, in Talbot County, Maryland. I was born into slavery, to a black woman,
Harriet Bailey, and a white father, who I would never know. They took me from my
grandmother at six years of age, to begin the life of a field slave, where I was beaten,
forced to eat from a food trough, like and animal, and sleep on the bare floor. Two
years later, after my owner s death, his wife sent me to serve her... Show more content

my arrival, I sent for her and on September 15th, we were married. We moved to
Massachusetts, and there we adopted the marital name Douglass, to prevent
recapture. This is where the man you call Frederick Douglass was created. I
continued my work against slavery, by telling my story at abolitionist meetings,
and eventually delivering my first speech at the Massachusetts Anti Slavery
Society s convention. In 1845, things really got crazy. I began working with
William Lloyd Garrison, a well known writer of a weekly journal, called The
Liberator. It was because of his advising, that I wrote my first autobiography,
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave. My book was a
bestseller, but it brought unwanted attention. They would not let me forget, I was
still a runaway slave. As a result, I fled to Ireland to prevent recapture. For the next
two years, I remained in Ireland and Britain, speaking on the evil called slavery.
After years of slavery and hiding, I returned to the United States a free man, thanks
to the seven hundred and ten dollars paid by my British supporters, for my freedom.
There was never a more magnificent feeling, than knowing you are free to move

Fire In The Awakening
In The Awakening, Kate Chopin describes the tale and life of Edna, now in her late
twenties, as she coming to the realization that she is not entirely pleased with her
current life and is not particularly excited to see where it s going. She s aware that
will never attain a future that will ease her of her sadness and make her life feel
significant in any way. She is very much aware that she is filling a role that society
expects of her and feels that she is losing her own independence, or at least what
was there to begin with. Edna is a wife and mother of two. She spends most of her
time with her friend Adele who is constantly reminding her of her duties and
expectations as a mother and wife. She comes to meet a man named Robert, with

The use of fire throughout the text can be perceived to represent the passion that the
character possesses with her partners and how in certain situations the fire is
dimming. The fire is meant to represent passion, and the idea of it slowly fading
away. When Leonce calls the doctor to come diagnose Edna, it is for acting as a
woman would in today s society; the behavior is so foreign her husband can only
account for it by blaming it on mental or physical illness. As the novel wraps up
with Edna walking to the ocean you can slowly begin to infer what is about to
happen. Water, large bodies on water in this particular case, represents uncertainty
and danger although; it also represents freedom and peace. The ocean, and water in
general, has the powerful ability give and provide life, but also take it away at any
given moment. To finish up the narrative you see Edna entering the water naked.
Throughout the novel and through historical evidence we ve come to understand
the way the fashion trends of the time period and how women s clothes were
particularly constricting. By removing her clothing, Edna is removing all of her
past restraints and things that controlled her mobility. Entering the water naked can
also be perceived as a rebirth of sorts if looked upon through a religious lens. Edna is
going back to where she came from (body of water is a comparison to mother s
womb) and being born
The Bluest Eye By Toni Morrison Essay
Racism is a social construct that has plagued America since its conception and is
something that continues to do so to this day. In America s earliest times racism
presented itself in the concept of slavery. When that was abolished it presented
itself in the Jim Crow Laws and separate but equal. Today racism presents itself in
more discreet, sinister ways like mass incarceration, or the recent rash of police
shooting of unarmed black teenagers. However, the most sinister way that racism
affects us today and the way it infects those in Toni Morrison s novel The Bluest
Eye is the importance that is placed on the all American family and how this
excludes African Americans. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye details how
American ideals often contradict with the reality of what goes on in America and
how vast the difference is between the two especially when it comes to race. In
The Bluest Eye there are two principle families there is the Breedlove family, and
then there is the family of the narrator, Claudia. Both the families were black, they
were of the same socioeconomic status, they lived in the same area, and they both
were grappling with the Eurocentric ideas of beauty that presented itself in the
1940s. However, there is one principle difference, while Claudia s family is filled
with love, support, and the overall care that is expected in a family dynamic, the
Breedloves have none of this. Claudia had a mother who took care of her when she
was sick, a father who was outraged

A retail/local advertisement is a little bit different from a business to business. In a
retail/local advertisement, customers are encouraged to purchase items at a certain

time of year, or small celebrations within the brand. Forever 21 is a retailer, and most

Cholelithiasis: Stones in the Gallbladder The presence of gallstones in the
gallbladder, clinically known as Cholelithiasis, is a very common medical condition
affecting most of the world s population. It is mostly prevalent in the western
countries. In the U.S. alone, gallstones are present in 8 20% of the population by the
age of 40 (University of Connecticut Medical Center, n.d.). Stones can come in varies
sizes and two main types. This condition can present itself with absolutely no

For those that are symptomatic or become symptomatic treatment varies on
severity and where the stone is located. The most common treatment is
cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. Patients that will benefit
from this procedure the most are those with large ( 2 cm) gallstones, those who
have a nonfunctional or calcified (porcelain) gallbladder on imaging studies and
who are at high risk of gallbladder carcinoma, those with spinal cord injuries or
sensory neuropathies affecting the abdomen, and those with sickle cell anemia in
whom the distinction between painful crisis and cholecystitis may be difficult
(Heuman, 2015). This procedure may be done open or laparoscopic. Open
cholecystectomy involves the surgeon creating a large opening in the abdomen
and using direct exploration to remove the gallbladder. This technique is not
common today and laparoscopic is more favorable. During a laparoscopic
cholecystectomy procedure, surgeons will make multiple small abdominal
incisions and insert a video endoscopy and other instruments to remove the
gallbladder by sections. This technique is less invasive and results in less
postoperative discomfort and improved cosmetic results. For those patients who
decline surgery or are at high risk for surgery, gallbladder stones may be dissolved.
This treatment may take up to two years or longer for complete dissolution and the
stones may return. The best applicants for this treatment are those with small
stones made of cholesterol. Ursodeoxycholic acid 4 to 5 mg/kg po bid or 3 mg/kg
po tid (8 to 10 mg/kg/day) dissolves 80% of tiny stones 0.5cm in diameter within 6
mo. (Siddiqui, 2013). A more rapid treatment for those not able to have surgery is
shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) of the gallbladder. This is a therapeutic technique
where sound waves are

To Life Everyone knows that in order to truly appreciate something sometimes you
have to do without. I think that this can be related to my Catholic faith and
studying about the Jewish faith. After reading the book, To Life , I value my faith
that I have much more. It has also helped me to appreciate the Jewish faith. Lastly,
it has enlightened my mind with appreciation for the Jewish faith and how it has
been a building block for our faith. First of all, the Jewish people have a strong
belief in community. On page ten it is quoted, people before we had a religion. To

Instead, for Jews, they have a higher reason. Keeping the rules of kosher allows the
Jews to make eating a holy thing. Allowing God to be part of their meals! It states,
The fact is that the rules of keeping kosher have nothing to do with trichinosis or
contamination. They have everything to do with taking the process of eating
which we share with all other animals and making it a uniquely human activity by
investing it with considered ones of permitted and forbidden. Jews also believe
that our moral choices we make in our life need to be handled with much maturity
and responsibility. As regards to sexual pleasure the Jews have strict laws to this.
On page fifty three Kushner describes Jews having three different ways to react to
sexual pleasures or any pleasures. We can yield to our instincts like animals do,
suppress them or sanctify them. The Jews sanctify their instincts by keeping sex
only for marriage and for the purpose of procreation. A last main belief can be
found on page sixty seven of Jews is that called tzedaka or in English charity.
Christians believe that giving is not just the material sense of giving, but giving
when it hurts. Christians believe that it doesn t matter how much you give as long
as you are giving a generous gift. The Jews believe in tzedaka meaning giving as
much money as you can and the more money you give the better and holier you are!

Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay
In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for
effective application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change
(Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of
the internal and external forces of resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger,
2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In response, this paper discusses the
approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance to change relative
to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The
discussion centers on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of
resistance that are often ignored in evaluating alternatives for taking action.... Show

According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s
disposition to resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from
strong opposition to ambivalence to strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes
behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived degrees of fairness of both
change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural justice), as
mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self
efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the
multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation
theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related
to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008;
GagnГ© Deci, 2005). This integrated theory characterizes varying levels and polarity
of behavioral responses to change relative to affective, normative, or continuance
forms of motivation and commitment. The variation in behavioral responses when
plotted on continuums of intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, internal/external locus of
causality, and prevention/promotion focused regulation reflects the degree to which
basic psychological needs of autonomy, competency, and relatedness are realized
during the change

possible benefit for us in bringing these people into our country; to feed them, to

them. That s exactly what s happening right now though; the first two, food and
clothing are taken care of by welfare, housing is taken care of by the huge housing

Sight And Blindness In Oedipus The King
Sight and blindness, though opposites in every sense, are paradoxically
interconnected in literature and film. The old archetype of a blind prophet has been
strewn throughout both ancient and modern media. Justice and her blindfold, Paul
Atreides from the Dune series, and the superhero Daredevil are all part of this
paradox, albeit in different variants. One of the most well known examples of this
tension between the seeing and unseeing is found in the timeworn story of Oedipusby
Sophocles, and still it can be found even in modern films, like Minority Report,
directed by Steven Spielberg. In Oedipus and Minority Report, interaction between
sight and blindnesscauses destruction. Blindness prompts ruination, while literal and
metaphorical sight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Oedipus, the readers are given an understanding of Jocasta s mind and level of
awareness through her suddenly jerky and panic filled moments; her frantic Which
man? What matters who he means? Why ask? Forget it all, it s not worth knowing,
(Sophocles, 58) especially showcases her level of insight, which is far deeper and
more encompassing than Oedipus . Jocasta is still seeing, and the knowledge,
suspicion, or intuition towards the situation is tearing her mind apart, ruining her
peace of mind and creating individual, internal destruction. Her final act was to sob
over her bed, and then hang herself after Oedipus past was completely revealed
(Sophocles, 70). The moment Jocasta began to understand, her mental stability
started in a downward spiral, and eventually her will to live directly opposed her
reaction to reality, resulting in her suicide. Minority Report has a comparable
confliction, in the same vein of mental health and stability contrasting with sight. In
the beginning of the movie, Spielberg shows John drugging himself and playing
videos of his time with his son and his wife. These videos give John sight into the
past, but come at a cost to his mental health, as his perception of reality is altered, and
he is left dependent on the drugs he uses to watch them. The hindsight and
Mythic Frontiersman In Owen Winter s The Virginian
[Intro]
In the later half of the nineteenth century, the mythic frontiersman was commonly
described as full of hope, righteous, and uncorrupt by tainted social order. This kind of
frontiersman is referred to as the American Adam. The American Adam frontiersman
can be found in [insert]
However in the 1860s and 1870s a new concept of frontiersman arose. Dime novel
authors presented these western men as strong, self reliant, and upholders of the law.
This idea of the frontiersman is presented in Owen Winter s novel, The Virginian.
The Virginian is an American hero who is masculine and always ends up saving the
day. This man is portrayed similar to a knight in shinning armor. He didn t care about
material rewards as he fought for truth and justice. [not sure what to add here...] ...

Instead, the myths idealized life on the frontier. Authors used descriptive details in
their stories to make the west seem appealing to the American Dream. The myths of
the frontier made the Great Plains look like a land that was full of opportunity. An
illustration of this idea is the dime novel, Young Wild West written by An Old Scout.
This novel was about an eighteen year old boy who traveled all over the western
frontier looking for adventures. Young Wild West, no matter the issue, always saved
the day. Americans have a fondness for the frontier myth because of the belief in
economic opportunity. There was also something about the image of a man plunging
into the wilderness on his own and defending himself against the unknown dangers in
the new world that many Americans found fascinating and mysterious. Additionally,
the Plains offered all peoples a fresh start in
Descriptive Essay About Fashion
There were times when women were restricted to wear certain garments like a skirt
that does not go past the knee, pants, and anything men considered sexy. Through
trials and tribulations women have defied all odds with fashion. When I think of
fashion I think of self expression, thanks to the women before me. One woman who
fully inspired my fashionsense, is Betsey Johnson. With her fun, unique, and colorful
fashion lines, she helped me to find my style. She is also a huge inspiration to me,
as a fashion designer. Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer, well known for her
eccentric but ladylike designs; Puffy skirts to make you feel like a beautiful
ballerina, embellishments to make you sparkle and shine when your seen, and eye
catching accessories that make you want to buy her garments. Her childhood interest
of dance and costume laid the foundation for her creativity. Betsey attended Pratt
Institute and later graduated from Syracuse University. She did not in fact go to
school for fashion design, but her creative juices pulled her toward fashion. Upon
finishing school Betsey landed an internship with Mademoiselle publication. She won
a contest at the magazine, thus triggering her career; Fulltime fashion designer for
Paraphernalia, made known a boutique called Betsey Bunky Nini, and other
successful ventures she did. Although she has quite the success story, she has had a
fair amount of mishaps as well. She put out her own collection in 1978, that did
exceptional well,
Business Administration
When I was a child, I had a group of friends, and I liked to be the leader. In addition,
my friends used to select me as the leader of the team because of my skills. I used
to select the game to play, and I liked to watch over my friends. Also, I used to
practice volleyball, and I was the captain of the team. I always liked to be in
control, directing and handling the team. I learned to be organized on an early
age. I learned how to manage my time to go to school on time, to practice ballet, go
to volleyball practice after school, have time to do my homework, and go to bed at
a reasonable time. I did not know that I was developing managerial skills. I was
undecided; I did not know what to study. I liked arts, science, math, but I had more...

The educational background for this career starts with some English classes, a lot of

strategies, critical thinking. At a low level are math and science (Chief Executives).
General executive managers often have a college degree in a subject that they are

Home Is A Home As A Place In My Life
What is home? A home doesn t consist of objects or possessions; a home is a place
filled with memories, love, and happiness. Home isn t a physical place, it s a
feeling of affection inside of a house. When I think of the word home, I think of a
safe zone. It s a place where one can feel sheltered by things from the outside world.
Home is a place that I can count on to provide stability and structure in my life. It s
a place I can be my complete self and express any emotions I may be feeling,
without being judged. At the age of twelve, my parents got divorced and the
meaning of home changed. I often moved back and forth between parents and did
not have a steady place to stay. Even though while growing up I faced many different
familychallenges and struggles each day, it has shaped my identity and provided
me with many life lessons. My experiences can set examples to my peers by
portraying that nothing is guaranteed and anything is bound to change at any
given time. If I could give any words of wisdom to my peers it would be to never
take your family for granted because it can be gone in the blink of an eye. I am
thankful for the setback that I was given because I was able to make a powerful
comeback. More importantly, I have had the opportunity to find who I truly am as a
person throughout this journey. For me, home is more than just the walls and roof
that I am surrounded by. I could be living in a multi million dollar home with the
most impeccable interior,

Ayn Rand opens up with an empowering first line, one that strikes the reader
immediately and sparks their curiosity to possibly read on. This first line It is a sin

story and ends with a full circle once the reader has reached the very last page. The
first line the narrator Equality 7 2521 writes, identifies his morality and how he is

Furthermore, Equality had seen his different outlook and thoughts as a curse upon

How Does Temperature Affect The Breathing Rate Of
Basketball
During a game or competition, basketball players breathing rate increase and they
breathe deeper. This is because muscles need oxygen to move and contract. When the
basketball players shoot and running around the court with the ball, every muscles
contract more rapidly than in the normal lifetime that in order for players to complete
a movement. So muscles need more oxygento contract so more blood needs to travel
to the muscles, and this is because oxygen carries by blood to every part of the
body. The oxygen is contained in the air so in order to get enough oxygen the
players need to breath in more and more air. Also as they breaths in more oxygen
more carbon dioxide needs to be exhaled. So players breathing rate increases. As the
basketball player starts to run around the court to pass the ball, their breathing rate
begins to increase. The muscles have to take in more air with each breath to reach the
high demand for oxygen in order to complete movement. So... Show more content on

Blood comes from the heart. In order to reach the high demand for blood with
oxygen, the heart pumps faster and faster in order to let enough blood come out into
the body. So the basketball player s heart rate increases. This is because the working
muscle needs more oxygen to contract. The more oxygenated blood the body can
supply to working muscles, the greater intensity the basketball player can play the
game However, the heart rate cannot keep at a fast rate for all the time. Eventually
the players will feel tired and need to have a rest. So that s why the basketball game
always has 2 minutes intermissions. Statistics show that an adult s average heart
rate is 80 beats per minute and the average heart rate often a basketball player
during peak intensity is 165 beats per minute. (from livehealthy.chron.com) Oxygen
breaks down lactic acid inside the muscles that cause the players to feel fatigue. So
increase in heart rate will help the players to get rid of lactic acid
The Physician Movie Evaluation
Evaluation on the movie The Physician The movie, The Physician, is a fascinating
tale that captivates you after only a few minutes of watching the film. Philipp Stolzl,
the director of the film, really outdid himself to bring this story to life. It is definitely
a movie that may interest people that love medicineand the medical field. This is my
personal opinion, therefore, I am sure that many people would disagree with me
because not everybody has the same tastes in movies. But from my perspective the
film, The Physician, was very well done and did not have a bland story. So to me, this
film was a great movie.

It does not bother me to see surgeries or things of the sort. However, movies always
seem to depict these kind of things in a gruesome, cringe worthy kind of way. This
movie, only showed two scenes of actual surgical procedures and these were not to
graphic yet, it was still clear what was going on. One of the scenes was even
humorous. On a personal level, I am not a huge fan of gory, bloody scenes, so while
watching this film, I was glad that I did not have to avert my eyes or fast forward any
scenes for being too graphic.
Finally, the last aspect that caught my attention was, the story in general. The movie,
The Physician, is based on the novel by Noah Gordon, The Physician. I had never
heard of such a book, however, after watching the film, my curiosity for the book was
awakened. The idea of medical practices during the 14th century, when there was no

Persuasive Essay On Distracted Driving
The state of Colorado is NOT doing enough to prevent distracted driving, especially
among tech savvy millennials who ignore safety precautions set by the government
in order to reduce the amount of accidents each year from careless drivers. Despite
road signs and an increased cost on distracted driving tickets it is still technically
legal to text and drive in the state of Colorado. In July of 2017, the government
decided that using handheld devices while drivingis considered safe unless the driver
is being careless or reckless. What government officials refuse to acknowledge is
that it takes a fraction of a second to permanently ruin your life or someone else s.
Studies have shown that distracted driving delays the body s ability to reach to
urgent situations by an average of 6 seconds. Comparatively, the timing of these
reactions are very similar to those results of people who consume alcohol/drugs
prior to getting in the car and driving. As for the consequences, a ticket is $300 but
the guilt lasts a lifetime and those who drive recklessly and take the life of another
person never get over their foolish decision to prioritize a phone over their own
safety. It s important to educate the youth and future generations of the dangers
distracted driving can lead to as well as explain the effects if they are not careful.
By definition, the state of Colorado defines distracted driving as, 1. Cognitive:
mentally distracted, a driver s mind is not focused on driving 2.

Bowel Constipation Essay
Constipation Treatment: Constipation is the term used to describe irregular bowel
actions, hard motions or difficulty in passing faces. It is twice as common in
women as it is in men and increases with age. A recent study revealed that 10% of
adults believed they had suffered from constipation during the previous fortnight.
Those results may have stemmed from the widespread belief that the bowels
should be open daily and that failure to do so will cause any umber of complaints
ranging from headaches to depression. In fact, one medical study has shown that the
average person may pass faeces as little as twice a week or as often as three times

Tone Of The Poem Epilogue
Robert Browning, the author of Epilogue, incorporates poetic devices into this
poem to illustrate the speaker s decision to go to war. Furthermore, he uses imagery,
diction, and detail to show and support the tone of the poem. Browning expresses
the tone with more than just one specific tone. In fact, Browning uses different
emotions that represent the speaker s defence for his patriotism. All of the speaker
s emotions join in the poem to show what he was feeling as he was in war.
Browning employs imagery into the poem, which emphasizes the tone of motivation.
The speaker asserts that he never turned his back on his people as he marched breast

In 1947, an unidentified flying object crashed into the small town of Roswell, New

conspiracists still believe an alien crashed into Roswell? After a hot humid day in
July 1947, severe and violent thunderstorms filled the night sky. Long time farmer,
Mac Brazel was used to thunder, and storms out in the country. Although something
about this night was different. He heard an extremely loud crash, though didn t think

the alien autopsy . Strangely enough, she was transferred from the funeral home

30 years later, in 1978, Stanton Friedman was prompted to revisit the crash.
Stanton Friedman was an unemployed scientist, and a part time UFO lecturer. On
February 12, 1978 Friedman interviewed a man over the phone who said he

couldn t remember the month or even the year of the event. Marcel expressed that
he believed the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft.
Approximately one year later, William Moore, a colleague of Friedman, found
newspaper clippings of the even that Marcel referred to. The research that Friedman
and Moore uncovered has made the Roswell crash the most celebrated case in the
literature of UFOs. In February of 1980, the National Inquirer ran the interview of
Marcel and Friedman bringing in national and worldwide attention

  • 2. Iphone Report Principles of Marketing Report on the UK marketing environment for the iPhone Executive Summary This report will analyze and discuss the most important elements of the marketing environment for the launch of the iPhone, that is to say the main three levels of the marketing environment: the micro environment through the customers, competitors and distributors, the macro environment through technological, economical, social, political and environmental forces and finally the internal environment through the relation of Apple with its employees and its marketing philosophy. The analysis for the micro environment is based on Porter s 5 forces model and the one on the macro environment is based on PEST analysis. The report ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple has already sold more than 39 million iPods in 2006, thus the company can count on its existing customers for the iPhone. The other potential customers for this product can also be: the people interested by technology or technophobes, middle and high class segments who are willing to pay more for a better user experience, professionals in media and design and finally young people who are interested by the image reflected by the product. Competitors With the iPhone, unlike the iPod, Apple is not creating a new market it is muscling the mobile market (BBC). In fact in the UK, more than 80% of the households have already a mobile phone; however the mobile market is changing so the customers are not only buying a mobile phone for its functionality but also for the other features that it can provide such as the design for example. Since, there is an established market; there will be two main types of competition: one against the distributor and another one against the product. The competition against the distributor is particularly important in this case as there is only one company distributing it in the UK: O2. One of the rapid reactions to the launch of the iPhone; is by Vodafone who has created a service called Music Station to be launched for Christmas and which will give unlimited access to its customers to more than 1 million music tracks. Concerning the competition against the iPhone itself, there are already mobile phones in the market that provide
  • 3. The Core Movie Essay Jake Mcclurg Movie project Dr. Sattler 4/21/17 The Core Sometimes movies appear to be very scientific but in reality are complete opposite. Does that necessarily make it bad movie? That is a personal opinion, but to me personally I can t really get behind a scientific movie that isn t backed up by science. The Core written by John Rogers and Cooper Layne and directed by Jon Amiel, is one of the worst movies if you are comparing the movie details to scientific facts. In the following paragraphs and pages I will compare the movie to scientific facts, to show how inaccurate the film really is. So the whole movie is based off that the idea that the earth s core is going to stop spinning which causes the earth to have terrible disasters, so a team of scientists have to travel to the center of the earth to bomb it. In the movie it says the earths magnetic field is caused by the earths spinning outer layer which is true however it does not spin in one direction, it spins in very complicated circuits. The problem in the movie is that earths outer layer of the core all of a sudden stops and it never gives a reason as of why it stops. In order for this layer of the core stop an enormous force would have to have a great impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That right there tells just how silly the idea of that really is. As if that wasn t bad enough it gets worse. The character in the mvoie who has to travel to set this bomb off is in a ship called Virgil. On his way, the ship side swipes a diamond creating a hole in the ship, even though the hole is not very large. The pressure and heat the ship is in would cause the outside material to flow into the ship with an explosive
  • 4. The Rise Of The Qing Dynasty During the years 1851 1866 there was massive civil war, or as some would consider it, a rebellion in China. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war of the nineteenth century, but likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012) The ruling government was the Qing dynasty, who had been in power since the mid 1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country including natural disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living conditions and with the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in economic status between the lower class and the wealthy members of the government. This social tension along with Chinabeing defeated militarily by France and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new Han Chinesedynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013) The Taiping Rebellion impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese lower class learned to fight for social change, which lead to other rebellions, and, at the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s intolerance for and ability to thwart societal change. The first main impact the rebellion had on Chinese history was that the Chinese people, who were possibility influence by the American Civil war,

  • 7. The Importance Of Workplace Diversity Workplace diversity is when there is diverse culture of individuals in the workplace. It is when there is a value placed on the variety of ideas, race, ethnicities, religion, gender, sexuality and orientation, which is flourishing in an environment. Depending on your employer and workplace, workplace diversitycan vary based off several different factors. Usually, there is a preferential standpoint taken on the matter and it can be either display a high or a low context cultureof diversity. According to Mason (2013) Workforce diversity has been described as a double edged sword; it has the potential for positive and negative outcomes (p.659). Workplace diversity is important in a business setting because it carries forward a combination of different types of people to worktogether in unity, encourages uniqueness, innovative, creative approaches, and supports interesting divergent ideas to accomplish tasks or goals. Benefits of a high workplace diversity environment is it not being stuck to conformity in group thinking, or being narrow minded with similar thoughts and having preference to only be around people who think like you do which is known as the diversity paradox . According to a quote stated from Friedrich Nietzsche, Hackett (2014) The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently (p. 415). Instead, it reiterates the importance of having a diverse workplace because it constructs better ideas, coming from different minds, and build upon each other through brainstorming. However, a poor workplace diversity can also adversely affect one s motivation, which leads to overall job dissatisfaction and demotivation. When there is poor workplace diversity, you can see less communication barriers and cultural resistance, but it also makes it harder for individuals to get used to working with others that aren t the same as them. This can become a form of adversity for businesses if their employees cannot develop a strong skill set to adapt with not only coworkers but also customers in the environment. Therefore, better communication and interaction skills are essential to promoting a business and making it successful.
  • 8. The Realm Of Telecommunication Services Introduction In the realm of telecommunication services, the application of ex ante regulation has been considered as the mainstream of this industry until the recent tendency specially by EU towards shifting from ex ante to ex post competition law. Those who are advocating this shift to ex post competitions have put their effort into deregulating and narrowing the scope and applicability of the ex ante rules. The latter mentioned rules are very essential to perform as protector of the consumers rights and interests. Although the relationship in the telecom marketplace seems to be bilateral between the service providers at one side and the small and end consumers at the other side, but still the nature of this relationship remains very much influenced by the powerful party namely, the service providers. So there is a vital necessity for a protecting mechanism in favor of the consumers which so far has been fulfilled by ex ante rules. In regard to this fact, in case of deregulating the ex ante regulations, what substitutes this protection toolkit for the consumers interests against the poor and low quality services and outcomes in the telecom sector? This present essay is trying to identify the key issues and possible solutions to this question. Ex ante versus ex post in telecom sector In the telecommunication sector the ex ante rules refer to a system of regulation that proactively requires for the prior approval and prediction for activities and disputes may arise

  • 10. Why The Hierarchal Structure Of Leadership Has Worked For... With the ever changing times, people suggest that a new form of leadership, shared leadership, where power is distributed may be more effective than the traditional hierarchal structure of leadership. However, with this idea of changing workplace structure, one must remember why the hierarchal structure of leadershiphas worked for so long. Hierarchical leadership is important to the workplace because employees are motivated to perform to improve their status in the company, feel open to voice concerns their leaders, and there are peaceful interactions between same level group members. Others will suggest that shared leadership is more effective because it offers the opportunity for everyone to be involved and the chance for innovation that would lack in the traditional form of leadership. Hierarchical structureis important in the workplace because employees are motivated to perform and improve their status within the company. People often respond to incentives, whether it be a promotion or a bonus. There are motivations behind one s performance. In both shared and hierarchal leadership, there are incentives to perform. According to Christopher Barnes, of the Military Academy at West Point and his collaborators in Mixing Individual Incentives and Group Incentives: Best of Both Worlds or Social Dilemma?, when individuals are given both individual and team goals, such as in shared leadership, members are placed in a social dilemma, and focus on individual rather than group

Phaeton grew up with his mortal mother, he was bullied at school for telling his peers that his dad was the sun. One day phaeton had enough and ran out of the school angrily. As he was walking to his house, it appeared like the sun had gotten brighter. Phaeton looks into the sun but was not blinded by it. Instead he saw the sun chariot with the shape of a human being in it. Phaeton runs home and tells his mother what he saw, but his mother only acted like he was crazy. He asks his mother where his dad was and she pointed up. Meaning that he died but really she meant that he was in the sky. But Phaeton did not understand that part. He believed that she meant that his father was dead. When night came, the mother and son went to sleep in their rooms, and the mother had a visitor. It was Helios, this upset the mother and caused her to yell at him to be at home more

He served in the army in World War One and he died in 1960 from a lengthy issue with his heart. His heart issues started when he developed pleurisy, most likely from sleeping on the cold, wet ground while in the Army during World War One. He was only sixty three years old when he died. Just before he died, he gave his wife, my great great grandmother, his glasses, a book, and a billfold. My great great grandmother s name was Roland Goddard. She was born in 1898 in North Carolina, and her parents died when she was only eight years old. She was very active in her community, and acted in community plays. She was very kind, and she sang beautifully. In 1979, she died when she was eighty one years old. One of RolandВґs children, Doris Hudson, was born in North Carolina in 1927. She is my great grandmother, and she is still living. She is ninety years old and I call her Gaga. She fell a few months ago and could not walk for a while, but she recovered and is now able to walk slowly. When I was too young to go to daycare, she would babysit me all day. She thought that is was alright for me to eat cookies when I could barely eat solid food. She also thought that I was hungry every time that I cried, therefore I was a very chubby baby. She had three children; Bobby Rose, Jacquelyn Jackie Rose, and Jerry Rose. Jackie is my grandmother. She was born in Virginia, but moved to Buras, Louisiana, then later moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. Henry Flagler Henry Flagler was an American capitalist, entrepreneur and industrialist born in Hopewell, New York who founded Standard Oil, an oil refining industry, and bridged and extended his Florida East Coast Railway to Miami in order to make his hotel ventures more accessible. This extension became apparent when Flagler visited St. Augustine, Floridawith his second wife viewing it as an endearing location, yet deficient in sufficient resorts and transportation systems. He invested and purchased the Jacksonville, Halifax and St. Augustine railroad which led to the establishment of the Florida East Coast Railway. Flagler saw probable prospect in Florida to be a major tourist attraction. As Flagler s luxury hotels were expanding and reaching all parts of Florida, the citizens of Florida wanted to acclaim Flagler for building channels, streets, introducing power and water structures/systems and creating a name for Florida. They wished to name the town Flagler in honor of him; however he respectfully declined insisting that the town be named Miami an Indian name originating from the river that the city was established around. An Investigation Based On The Arrhenius Law INTRODUCTION This investigation is based on the Arrhenius law, A formula created by Professor Svante Arrhenius that combines the Boltzmann distribution law with the concept of activation energy (Stephen Lower 2011a) to depict one of the most important relationships between temperature and rate of reaction in chemistry to date. In the formula, K = e ≈ 2.71828 A = Arrhenius constant = Activation Energy RT = Average kinetic energy (Universal gas constant Г — Temperature in Kelvins) In this experiment, the main focus is placed on the Arrhenius plot, which is derived through the manipulation of the Arrhenius equation to remove its exponential form by taking the natural log of both sides of the equation which forms lnk=lnA E_A/RT A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This topic appealed to me, as it seemed like a sound concept in theory, but could not find any discussion based on using the Arrhenius plot for physical processes. BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Sublimation; an endothermic process Sublimation is the term describing the transition of a substance from the solid phase to the gas phase without passing through an intermediary liquid phase. (Anne Marie Helmenstine 2014a) It is a physical change of state, which occurs at temperatures and pressures below the triple point of the substance, the point where the temperature and pressure causes the 3 phases: solid, liquid and vapour, of a single component system to be in equilibrium. (Blackwell Scientific Publications Oxford 1997) This definition shows that sublimation is a purely physical process; so a substance does not undergo a chemical reaction during sublimation. This diagram represents a typical endothermic reaction: Fig. 2: Endothermic reaction enthalpy change (hferrier n.d.) As displayed in figure 2, a substance requires kinetic energy greater or equal to its activation energy in order for it to change from its initial form to its product. The activation energy shown is one of the pathways that a reaction takes with respect to the pressure that it is subjected to. Consider that for a substance to change from its solid phase to its gas phase the bonds are all fixed in a position and when the particles have enough energy, they are able to

The Extent Of Success Of The Land Registration Act 2002 The Extent of Success of the Land Registration Act 2002 Introduction Being one of the most extensive law reforms of the Law Commission, Land Registration Act 2002 aims to create a flawless legal framework for land registration, especially in terms of conveyancing with emphasis on overriding interests and adverse possession. It is agreed that the Land Registration Act 2002 (hereafter LRA 2002), by putting emphasis on strict registration, moved the idea of land ownership from ownership by possession to bureaucratization of title via registration. Therefore, LRA 2002 is said to bring further strictness and clarity to land ownership and subsequent conveyancing. In conjunction, LRA 2002 was expected to bring an e conveyancing revolution to land registration which was awaited to be a major success. Although steps are taken towards this development, it is claimed that there is still long way to go before a complete and problem free e conveyancing system. Apart from matters relating to conveyancing, LRA 2002 consists of sections regarding overriding interests where their number and scope are widely reduced with specifications of registration introduced. Moreover, the Act includes strictly drafted provisions about adverse possession, aiming to bring further restrictions to this matter by bringing further difficulties to the acquisition of title and therefore shifting from a squatter prone approach to a registered owner supporting view. After some comedic editing and a brief description of the growing use of vertical video, Kois poses the question: What is the art in vertical video? Kois gives a few examples of vertical video s current usage and raises concern about this vertical video viewing generation. His main concern is that if this generation is accustomed to vertical videos on their smartphones and tablets, then Hollywood will try to cash in on viewer preferences and create vertical films. From the two minute point to circa minute six, Kois presents his argument, which has three central points: 1)the spectacle of theater can only be fully captured horizontally, 2) the space on a horizontal screen allows a visible connection between two characters which the vertical screen cannot capture, and 3)the horizontal screen has room for multiple individuals to be presented simultaneously, while when done so vertically, the screen seems overcrowded.... For example, The Grand Budapest Hotel beautifully uses a vertical aspect ratio to create an implied meaning, so an artistically rich vertical filming technique is

Because of this, Luhrmann enjoys including theatrical details that derive from his colorful past, giving them a show like quality that make his movies stand out. In America s earliest times racism presented itself in the concept of slavery. When that was abolished it presented itself in the Jim Crow Laws and separate but equal. Today racism presents itself in more discreet, sinister ways like mass incarceration, or the recent rash of police shooting of unarmed black teenagers. However, the most sinister way that racism affects us today and the way it infects those in Toni Morrison s novel The Bluest Eye is the importance that is placed on the all American family and how this excludes African Americans. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye details how American ideals often contradict with the reality of what goes on in America and how vast the difference is between the two especially when it comes to race. In The Bluest Eye there are two principle families there is the Breedlove family, and then there is the family of the narrator, Claudia. Both the families were black, they were of the same socioeconomic status, they lived in the same area, and they both were grappling with the Eurocentric ideas of beauty that presented itself in the 1940s. However, there is one principle difference, while Claudia s family is filled with love, support, and the overall care that is expected in a family dynamic, the Breedloves have none of this. Claudia had a mother who took care of her when she was sick, a father who was outraged

For those that are symptomatic or become symptomatic treatment varies on severity and where the stone is located. The most common treatment is cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. Patients that will benefit from this procedure the most are those with large ( 2 cm) gallstones, those who have a nonfunctional or calcified (porcelain) gallbladder on imaging studies and who are at high risk of gallbladder carcinoma, those with spinal cord injuries or sensory neuropathies affecting the abdomen, and those with sickle cell anemia in whom the distinction between painful crisis and cholecystitis may be difficult (Heuman, 2015). This procedure may be done open or laparoscopic. Open cholecystectomy involves the surgeon creating a large opening in the abdomen and using direct exploration to remove the gallbladder. This technique is not common today and laparoscopic is more favorable. During a laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure, surgeons will make multiple small abdominal incisions and insert a video endoscopy and other instruments to remove the gallbladder by sections. This technique is less invasive and results in less postoperative discomfort and improved cosmetic results. For those patients who decline surgery or are at high risk for surgery, gallbladder stones may be dissolved. This treatment may take up to two years or longer for complete dissolution and the stones may return. The best applicants for this treatment are those with small stones made of cholesterol. Ursodeoxycholic acid 4 to 5 mg/kg po bid or 3 mg/kg po tid (8 to 10 mg/kg/day) dissolves 80% of tiny stones 0.5cm in diameter within 6 mo. (Siddiqui, 2013). Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for effective application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change (Palmer, Dunford, Akin, 2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of the internal and external forces of resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger, 2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In response, this paper discusses the approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance to change relative to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The discussion centers on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of resistance that are often ignored in evaluating alternatives for taking action.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to ambivalence to strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008; GagnГ© Deci, 2005). This integrated theory characterizes varying levels and polarity of behavioral responses to change relative to affective, normative, or continuance forms of motivation and commitment. The variation in behavioral responses when plotted on continuums of intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, internal/external locus of causality, and prevention/promotion focused regulation reflects the degree to which basic psychological needs of autonomy, competency, and relatedness are realized during the change
