Junior Year Goals Research Paper
Junior Year Goals My first goal is to stay on top of any reading in english class throughout the year. I
chose this because although I love reading, I m generally a slow reader and this causes me to get
discouraged and fall behind at some points. I plan to achieve this goal by not procrastinating, and
trying my hardest to stay focus on the book instead of outside distractions. One way to achieve this
would be insuring that wherever I read is quiet and free of distractions. By doing so, this will help me
focus on the words, and hopefully speed up my reading pace. My second goal is becoming more
physically active. I chose this goal because as the school year goes on I seem to become less and less
physically active as I am busy with school work. School is always my top priority, but my ... Show

Some ways to achieve this would be to walk my two dogs, as this not only provides exercise for me,
but the dogs as well (they need it just as much as I do). Not only will daily exercise improve my
health, it will teach me time management, which is a long term benefit that I will use for the rest of my
life. My third goal, which will be the most difficult for me, is earning a B grade or higher on all of my
final exams at Xavier. Throughout my academic career, exams have always been a huge stretch for
me. A big part of why I don t do as well as I would prefer on exams is because of my level of anxiety
leading up to it. Study habits are a strength for me, but keeping myself calm is what I have trouble
with. As soon as I walk into the room to take an exam, I start second guessing my first instinct, even
though it is usually correct. By the time I finish, I m flustered and discouraged. A way to fix this
problem would to make sure that my studying is concrete. By making sure that I have all of the
information I need in my head, this should reduce my stress level. This could include using study
guides, becoming involved in a study group, and always staying for 8th

Racism In Public Space Essay
Life is very difficult in public spaces. It not only has the twists and turns but, for minorities, is racist.
Ever since the slave days, African Americans have known to be cautious around police. A few decades
ago, the Jim Crow laws legalized separation of races in numerous public spaces. Most blacks have had
to adapt to racism and profiling, which is by police due to the white majority in American cities. The
recent epidemic of police shootings has made the situation even more worrisome. One can see the
effects of this in the streets, the television, and most importantly, the police. Racism in public space
influences police perceptions of African Americans through civilian shootings, community emotions,
separation between whites and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not excluded, to Zimmerman, racism in the culture of Sanford affected the police as deeply as the
citizens.
Racism in public space influences police perceptions of African Americans through community
emotions. There were various opinions in Sanford natives after Martin s death about the racism of
police and the overall community. The black natives there felt that police only get but one side,
(Onwuachi Willig 1166). The racial minority felt total abandonment from the police in important times
of stress and grief. In expression of how the other side of the community felt, a white neighbor of
Zimmerman said of the unity of Caucasians and of African Americans in Sandford that they don t
want to be with us and we don t want to be with them, (Onwuachi Willig 1177). It is not a surprise that
community emotions were filled with anger in both blacks and whites and the police proved
themselves unable to provide help. Emotions cannot just influence one s opinions of the community,
but one s opinions of their job. The racial community divide shown within these quotes extends far
beyond Sanford county and the state of Florida. It is paramount across many American communities
and cites. Whites fear those of black color and implicit fear is common within this majority. In a recent
NYC study, whites showed to feel the most comfortable with the police and least likely to view police
brutality as a problem compared to minorities (Fine, et al. 149). While many blacks

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Parenting...
A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running, trying
to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria
Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple, are
having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. So, single
parenting faces more disadvantages like the experience of economic hardship, negative judgment of
the community and the psychological effects on rearing children that make the family and relation
cycle really complicated.
Single parenting is about having a child without living with a partner or spouse. In historical events,
the major reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, their children may suffer bullying because of having only one parent. This can affect the
children s way of living. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and mental
health issues. The child will not be able to do what he wants because he will be afraid to socialize with
other children. Second, a child with a single parent can compare their selves to the other children who
have married parents. A child may feel envious about not having a father/mother to guide him/her.
According to Paul R. Amato, Children living with single parents are exposed to more stressful
experiences and circumstances than being children living with continuously married parents. This
statement proves that single parents are having a hard time raising their children. Lastly, the children
living with a single parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings. Children who don t see or
feel the act of love between his/her parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings with other
person. Due to unseen acts of love, the child may be confused on how he/she will show their feelings
with other person. So instead of showing it, they are going to hide their feeling with their self

Media And Mass Media Deviance
Media is the most effective method of mass communication. There are many different sources of mass
media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news media,
print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017). Considering all
the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an influence on deviant
behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance rather than reducing it.
When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as behavior that is inherently
bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that departs from the social constructs
of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly used amongst mass media to
entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent social constructs to make a profit.
Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there wouldn t be any motive behind
showing them. All things considered, what the media covers and how much they chose to cover has
significantly changed over the years, the most apparent in crime coverage. This consistent coverage of
crime gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the media. They can feel a part of the
intensity of an investigation, cheer on the enforcers, become immersed in their stereotypes. On the
other hand, they can appreciate deviance for its resilience to overcome and resist

Exercise And Loss Analysis Essay
Best exercises for butt and thighs
Your butt and thighs consist of muscles called the glutes, quads and hamstrings.
Most individuals looks for ways to reduce certain parts of their body however, the bitter truth is that
you just cannot spot reduce.
Fat loss or weight loss is dependent on your diet and your exercise. Exercises such as cardio workouts
torch major calories, whereas strengthening workouts focus on increasing strength and muscle tone,
while burning considerable calories at the same time.
In order to reduce the size of certain body parts, you need to get involved in a few intense cardio
workouts to burn overall body fat. Couple this with isolation of compound exercises of the lower body
parts to get a firmer and tighter butt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jump squats with weights
Jumps squats are excellent bodyweight strengthening exercises which can be effectively intensified
using dumbbells.
Make sure you practice perfect form to prevent injury. Stand with feet shoulder width apart with your
feet tilted away from each other. Hold the weights at your side, engage your core and lower your body
to a squat until thighs are parallel to the floor. Jump as high as possible and land back to starting, squat
position. Repeat with arms straight down to your sides throughout the entire workout. Make sure your
weights aren t too heavy for this workout in order to reduce risk of injury. Jump squats are super
effective without weights too!

Globalisation and Australian Automotive Industry
Globalisation and World Today globalization is essentially a synonym for global business.
Globalization is changing the world we live in at a very increasingly rapid pace (Rodrik., 1997).
Changes in technology, communication, and transportation are opening up borders and markets at
increasing rates. In any large city in any country, Japanese cars ply the streets, a mobile call can be
enough to buy equities from a stock exchange half a world away, local businesses could not function
without U.S. computers, and foreign multinationals have taken over large segments of service
industries. Impact of Globalisation, both theoretically and practically, can be observed in different

Netflix Case
Davor Rameša k0956979 Netflix case Executive summary What is Netflix s strategy in the on line
movie rental market? What are Netflix s sources of competitive advantage? Identify the competences
key to the success of Netflix s strategy and explain why. Netflix was a late entrant to the movie rental
market and it was a first mover in the on line movie rental market. Netflix s strategy in the movie
rental market is differentiation from traditional movie rental stores. Instead of attracting customers to a
retail location, Netflix offered home delivery of DVDs through the mail. Why only DVDs? In 1998,
most available movies were in VHS cassette format but Netflix concentrated on using only DVDs

As a bigger company Blockbuster has the financial funds to attract more subscribers using heavy
marketing. This entry directly enters Netflix s niche market and now Netflix has to find a way to
differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix s entry strategy to these new markets? It could ship
the DVDs from USA but this option would have serious disadvantages like import tariffs, shipping
costs, long delivery time which would lead to customer dissatisfaction and a very small market share
with probably losses rather than profits. If Netflix would open a subsidiary in Europe it would not
have problems like the latter but it would need investors since financing the whole subsidiary may
present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as a difference to the US, is consisted of
many small independent countries with their own laws and import tariffs so this could be a problem as
well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If Netflix would try to ship movies from the US
(which would also present shipping costs) the European customers might not like US movies that
much. They might prefer European movies better. Another issue is that Netflix doesn t have an
established relationship with any European movie studio. So they would lose the competitive
advantage that they have in the US. Another problem is the language barrier. In many countries like
Germany, Italy, or Spain, movies are

Questions On Demand And Demand
QUESTION 1 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagram(s), the difference between a
change in quantity demanded of hats and a change in demand for hats. The difference between a
change in Quantity demand and demand for hats are explained below: Change in Quantity Demand:
The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For example: If the
price of Hat is $5 people will buy 20 hats, if the price of hats increased by 10% people will buy less
hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand curve because of other
factor not by the price i.e. buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. (Figure in
hard copy) So, the difference between Change in demand cure and change is demand Change In
quantity demand is related with the change of price whereas change in demand is not about the price it
is about other factor Such as: buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences.
QUESTION 2 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagrams, the effect of the following
events on the market for solar panels: (a) If the price of solar panels is below the market equilibrium
price. (b) The price of electricity for an average household has increased by 50 percent. (c) New
technology has increased the productivity of solar panel producers. (A) If the price of solar panel is

The Human Resources Department Of An Organization Or...
1. Please briefly explain why you chose to interview this person:
I ended up interviewing Jennifer Noonan who works in the Human Resources Student Employment
Department in University Housing. I choose to interview her because I work in housing and I was able
to get in contact with her fairly easily. I also hope to work in the field of Management and Human
resources, so I wanted to interview someone in that field to get a sense of what the career entails.
2. What are at least four things you learned from your informational interview about your contact s
career path/job responsibilities, employer, and/or industry?
Jennifer explained to me the basic role of the human resources department of an organization or
corporation. I learned that it s one of the most important aspects of a business, because they are the
ones who make sure all of the other departments are running as efficient as possible. Helping with the
hiring process of new employees is something I didn t know HR is a part of, and they help hiring
managers find the best possible candidates and make sure everything is in place for their future
employment. Jennifer also informed me that the role of HR is constantly changing, and the old
stereotypes of HR being the sticklers or the mean people is slowly changing. Human resources job is
to follow and enforce the rules of the government and corporation, and that s why they were always
portrayed negatively.

The Role of Zoos in Conservation
The roles of Zoos in conservation The main aim of zoos is to protect and conserve global biodiversity
and wildlife. To do this they have four roles to play which are; research, conservation, education and
welfare. Research: Research is the careful search or inquiry for new facts by scientific study of a
subject, through a course of critical investigation. By studying animals we can learn new things about
their behaviour and lifestyle. The Secretary of State s Standards of Modern Zoo Practice (SSSMZP)
encourage zoos to carry out research. Research can be carried out ex situ or in situ. In situ
conservation is defined as: The conservation of ecosystems and natural habitats and the maintenance
and recovery of viable populations of species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zoos try to make the animal s enclosure as interesting as possible. One way of doing this is through
ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT. Enrichment is the use of novel objects or ideas to increase the
natural behaviour of the animals. Different objects and methods are used for different animals. (1) The
World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the umbrella organisation for the world zoo and
aquarium community. Whilst recognising the variation in culture and customs within which the
WAZA operates, it is incumbent upon all members to exercise the highest standards of animal welfare
and to encourage these standards in others. Training staff to the highest level possible represents one
method of ensuring this aim. Members of WAZA will ensure that all animals in their care are treated
with the utmost care and their welfare should be paramount all times. At all times, any legislated codes
for animal welfare should be regarded as minimum standards. Appropriate animal husbandry practices
must be in place and sound veterinary care available. When an animal has no reasonable quality of
life, it should be euthanized quickly and without suffering. Below are the basic principles for the
guidance of all members of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums: (i) Assisting in achieving
the conservation and survival of species must be the aim of all members of the profession. Any actions
taken in relation to an individual animal, e.g. euthanasia or

Authority
Authority is the power an organization gives to a supervisor to do something or to get something done.
There are two types of authority: formal and informal. Formal authority comes with the position a
person holds in the organization. Informal authority, also referred to as personal authority, is the power
you have because of your abilities and personal traits. In my opinion, authority is means want to
control something in your hand. Formal authority means use law or rules to control the store or public
place. Informal authority means you want to control something by yourself, nobody help you.

The Issue of School Prayer
The issue of school prayer has been a thorny one in the United States for many years now. In the
beginning of the nineteenth century readings of the Bible and prayer were common practices in public
schools. However prayer was banned in 1962 due to claims that it was violating the First Amendment
right that the government was not allowed to support religion, and from then on the Supreme Court
has ruled against any and all forms of prayer in schools. Schools cannot however ban students from
praying in school and it is against the law to deny a student of his or her own personal beliefs. To this
day prayers are said at special events such as ballgames, graduations, and the daily moment of silence,
but these are sometimes frowned upon because people find public prayer offensive (At Issue: School
Prayer). Praying in schools should be allowed for those who want to do it because it should not be
about pleasing those who do or don t have certain beliefs. It should be up to the student to decide
whether he or she wants to pray in school. Both religious and nonreligious students should be allowed
to coexist and not have to sacrifice religious practices so satisfy the other. Arguments can be made in
favor for both parties. The most important factor though, to consider here is that the First Amendment
still stands that everyone should have freedom of religion whether they choose to take it or not. There
is no possible way to determine whether or not the absence of religion is at fault

Perverse Feminine Masochism
Perverse feminine masochism From the case study of Mary, we propose the notion of perverse
feminine masochism as antinomic with erotic feminine masochism, the latter being based on the
change of desired object. The desire to be penetrated by the father, then by the lover, supports the
investment of penetration as a promised opening. Thus, whereas erotic feminine masochism relies on
the primary erogenous masochism, constitutes a basis of the first narcissistic foundations and
counterinvests moral masochism, for some people, the encounter with the sexual might be
contrastingly traumatizing and reactive pregenital anxieties of intrusion that may be compared with a
revivification of incest (Schaeffer, 2002). Perverse feminine masochism is made

Usefulness Of Pennies
The common penny has outlived its usefulness. It cost more money to mint pennies than they are
actually worth. In modern society making a penny cost 1.7 cents then the actual prices. With a single
penny you can t buy anything.
People still find the need to mint more and more pennies every year, costing taxpayers and the
government millions of dollars. According to Citizens to Retire the U.S. Penny, in the year 2014, there
were nearly 8 billion pennies minted, costing the United States almost $132 million to produce less
than $50 million. This means that we spend more money producing a single penny.

Examples Of Bitterness In The Crucible
Bitterness is a feeling of anger, hurt, or resentment toward a bad experience or a sense of unjust
treatment. This emotion is human nature since humans were primitive because it made humans
remember events that negatively affected them, causing feelings such as anger, hate, and hostility
toward what caused the problem. In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many circumstances came
up that caused strong feelings of pain, irritation, and furry. Bitterness is used to demonstrate a factor of
human nature throughout the play by illustrating the experiences of resentment caused by conflicts. A
part of human nature is feeling bitter, and that concept is shown through different situations during the
play. Mrs. Putnam in The Crucible was trying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proctor said this because he was angry and resentful to the judge. The judge had very little reason to
accuse his wife. This causes Proctor to become bitter. Human nature teachers this because humans
strive for the truth. Whenever the truth is twisted humans become bitter and spiteful. An instance
occurred when Elizabeth went against what Proctor told her to do. PROCTOR: How do you go to
Salem when I forbid it? Do you mock me? Shaking her. I ll whip you if you dare leave this house
again! (Miller 55). Proctor gets very furious and threatens to whip her. When a person sets a rule and
another person breaks that rule it causes frustration and results in bitterness. Anger completely
overtook Marry Warren during Abigail s trial because Abigail lied about how Elizabeth was using
witchcraft. Mary Warren, on her feet with a spring, and horrified, pleading: Abby! (Miller 115). The
reason Mary Warren got so uncontrollably mad was due to human nature. Abigail made up that was a

Ivan Miranda, A Native Of Acapulco, Mexico
We all have respect for our elders because of their hard work. We wouldn t be in the U.S. or have what
we do now if it wasn t for them , Ivan stated during the interview. I interviewed Ivan Miranda; a native
of Acapulco, Mexico, about elderly roles in his family. Ivans grandparents are the first and the oldest
generation of his family in America, therefore, a majority of the answers are of direction of his family
s values towards his grandparents and the ethics that are taught by them. In addition, I came to
understand more about his family s thoughts on the importance of elderlies, along with the loss of
their heritage s way of life towards the elders. Ivan and his siblings were raised to love and respect
their elders. The elders are the origin of the family and without the elders, none of them would be here
today. Elders are wise and are sought out not only for advice and guidance, but are the caretakers of
the family. Since elders are the root of the family and the up most respected, there are not one elder

Mendel In America
In the article Mendel in America: Theory and Practice, 1900 1919 by Diane B. Paul and Barbara A.
Kimmelman, it is interesting to see some parallels between the appreciation of Mendelian genetics and
modern day genetically modified crops. Just as there was an overproduction of wheat in 1870, there is
now an overproduction of corn in the United States. Some historical contingencies of the wheat
production in the United States include the introduction of further government interest and
intervention in agricultural research, namely hybridization and crossbreeding, due to the end of laissez
faire ideology of the United States. The overproduction of wheat in 1870 led to a crisis in agriculture
and the depreciation of value in wheat; the United States

Hope Revealed In The Secret Garden
The spell was broken. My uncle learned to laugh and I learned to cry. The secret garden is always
open now. If you look the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden. This quote from The
Secret Garden proves the theme there is always hope to be true. In The Secret Garden, Mary, Collin,
Lord Craven and Mrs. Medlock all seem to be in a difficult time, but they learn in the end that there is
hope. It was lonely in India, and my parents didn t want me. claims Mary as she reflects on her early
life. Mary grew up in India where, like she said, she was lonely and unwanted. When Mary thinks her
life couldn t get worse though, tragedy strikes and Mary s parents get killed in an earthquake. The
orphaned Mary is put on a ship heading to England where she is taken in by her uncle, Lord Craven.
As soon as Mary arrives at the large manor house in the isolated countryside, her life immediately
begins to change. Mary s garden begins to grow . Soon, Mary ... Show more content on

I m going to die. says Collin as he lay in bed preparing for death. Collin is Mary s cousin who was
born a premature baby after his mother fell off of a swing in the garden and went into labor. All of his
life, Collin has been kept in his room in bed, and has been told that he is ill and to be prepared to die.
After Mary arrives, Collin s whole world is tipped upside down. Collin tells Mary the story of his birth
and of how his mother died. After Mary hears the story she tries to convince Collin to try to stand and
walk and play outside. Collin refuses until one day, when Mary pulls the shutters off Collin s windows
and let the light in. After seeing how amazing the outside world is, Collin decides that it is worth the
risk and he comes outside with Mary and Dickon one day. After that one afternoon outside, Collin s
health only gets better. Soon, Collin is standing, walking and playing with Mary and Dickon in the
garden each day. Just like Mary, Collin had hope all along but, he never realized

The Role Of Critical Thickness Subordinate Impacts Acting...
What is intriguing is the nearness of critical thickness subordinate impacts acting in a deferred way on
the diverse conceptive parameters broke down. The part of conceptive females, the proliferation file,
and the regenerative rate were to a great extent dictated by the populace thickness the prior year. The
generation record and the regenerative rates were not affected by the precipitation design. The
multiplication list speaks to the extent of regenerative females and adolescents in the populace.
Therefore, one conceivable reason for the non huge relationship amongst precipitation and
multiplication record might be the expansion of grown up movement after stormy winters (Lima and
Jaksic unpublished work). Then again, the regenerative rate is a gauge of the quantity of adolescents
delivered by a female amid the reproducing season, and includes the litter size, litter number and the
survival rates of the posterity. Consequently, our outcomes propose that precipitation does not impact
these parameters. This is a fascinating result, in light of the fact that an expansion in the quantity of
litters created by females after abnormally stormy winters has been hypothesized as one of the
instruments activating populace episodes of this species. A few studies have discovered abundant
proof of social cooperation s in microtine rodents, including spatial conduct, territoriality and forceful
experiences. In general, these components appear to create quick thickness subordinate

Understanding Counselling Theories
Understanding Counselling Theories
1a
The B.A.C.P (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) define counselling as the skilled
use of the relationship (between counsellor and client) to help the client develop self knowledge, self
esteem and the ability to take control of his or her own life .
1b
Counselling is based on a therapeutic relationship, whereby the counsellor using their skills and
knowledge to help the client to explore and understand their difficulties. This is done in a safe and
secure setting, whilst maintaining a confidential and non judgemental manner. Before the therapeutic
relationship can develop, both client and counsellor must write up a contract covering areas such as
confidentiality, fees, duration of sessions, number of sessions and responsibilities. Counselling can
help with issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self esteem, domestic violence, midlife
crisis, sexuality and relationship.
1c
Counselling is not advice and guidance. Nor is it an intimate relationship, friendly conversation,
problem solving, judgemental or influenced by the counsellor.
2a
The key approaches to counselling are Psychoanalysis, Humanistic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
(CBT) and Neuro linguistic programming (NLP).
Psychoanalysis is a set of theories and techniques which were founded by Sigmund Freud. The basis
of Psychoanalysis is that it enables the client to become more aware of their unconscious thoughts and
motivations to gain a deeper

Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced
Chemistry 12 Formal Report Measuring Reaction Rate using Volume of Gas Produced By John Doe
23th October 2012 Introduction An essential element of chemistry is finding reaction rates. This is
because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the
rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect
reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate
of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will
be. This is simply because there are more particles present to collide with each other. When the
temperature is higher, particles will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute.
Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8
mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the
temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest
reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8
mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by
10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the
temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen,
which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of
reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of
0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach
dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). Bleach should never
be mixed with any acid based cleaners because it results in the formation of toxic Cl gas. If bleach is
mixed with an acid based cleaner in a small room it will result in a toxic build up of chlorine gas,
which can be fatal to anyone spending

Persuasive Essay On Blind Hope
Your homework is not done. You check the due date once again in disbelief that it could possibly be
due in ten minutes. You wait in anguish until you come up with the wonderful idea that the teacher just
might be willing to forgive today. Surely others have missed the deadline as well. You ease yourself
into a mellow confidence as you decide to turn the assignment in blank. The teacher doesn t buy your
story of how it was not posted in a good location and hands it back to you with a zero. It is rare that
these situations ever work out. Blind hope can only lead to unforeseen consequences.
Blind hope can cause one to ignore risks and look only to what good could come out of it. The
rewards always seem to outweigh the risks. A good example of this is seen in people who like to
gamble. They would believe that the next spin will be the one ; it has to be. The problem is, the
chances of that are almost none, and they loose money each time they go just one more time. There
are also numerous fictional stories that illustrate this, one being Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets. In
this story, the man sees his paper and feels that he could reach it if he just went out to get it. Thinking
about the benefits, He imagined himself describing it; it would make a good story at the office and, it
occurred to him, would add a special interest and importance to his memorandum, which would do it
no harm at all (Finney 4). This is all fine and dandy if the paper wasn t outside his high

Collective Bargaining In The Workplace
With the passing of the National Labor Relations Act by Congress in 1935 private sector employees
were given the right to unionize and bargain collectively. Essentially this was a format for employees
to improve their wages and working conditions. This ended up allowing the States to then decide if
public sector employees were going to receive the same rights as private employees and be able to
unionize and bargain collectively for their working conditions. To simply define public employees
they represent workers at every government level. Basically teachers, firefighters, police officers,
postal workers and any other employee of the government at any level that you can think of that
provides services such as healthcare, education, and sanitation. ... Show more content on

The contract negotiations for these public workers are dependent not on private corporations, but on
the size of government budgets. This is the one segment of labor that can actually contribute directly to
the people because these jobs are considered a public service. It tends to be the reason why you may
see or hear about so much protesting from teachers attempting to improve their work conditions and
wages because they must unionize and get union leaders to fight and make their bargains be heard.
Believe it or not most states required schools to engage in collective bargaining and other states
allowed collective bargaining. For a job position that is considered a public service and receives
benefits from a government budget, it would make sense for public employees to bargain for their
benefits and concern. It s just not fair when the government budget comes from the taxes of people
and the money is not being distributed for the right reasons. I think it s the politics of things because
these workers are negotiating with the government through union labor leaders and politicians but is
there bargaining and unionization actually leading to something beneficial to the people who
publically serve us every day. Of course it makes sense for them to unionize and fight for their lives

Research Paper On Liquid Latex
From the data we collected, it is clearly shown that by day 9 liquid latex preserved the most mass in
the pig foot. While the foot harbouring liquid latex only lost 77.9g of mass in 9 days, alcohol lost
90.3g, formalin lost 91.6g, oils lost 87.6g, and phenol lost 129.3g. Expectantly, almost every
independent variable lost less mass than the control, which lost 127.2g. However, the unexpected
greater loss of mass in the leg containing Phenol may prove that there was experimental error in one
of our final measurements.
In addition, the results were not completely expected. Due to the new research on using plastic as a
preservative, we hypothesized that liquid latex would be the most effective at delaying decomposition.
When using plastication, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It performed more efficiently than phenol, alcohol, and oils but not as well as liquid latex. This result
could have been due to the fact that the formalin was not pure because it was previously utilized for an
unknown amount of time. Formalin has strong dehydrating and oxidizing agents. Its purpose is to be
used as a disinfectant, a germicide, and it fixes/preserves tissue cells. Additionally, it combines with
proteins, inactivating them, and kills them. It preserves efficiently due to the fact that it penetrates
deep into the tissue, kills present bacteria, helps prevent future bacteria, and assists with retaining the
tissue structure (Mercer County Community College, 2016). In our experiment, it lost about 14.13%,
or 91.6g of its original mass while liquid latex lost 13.81% , phenol lost 19.05%, oils lost 14.46%, and
alcohol lost 17.00%. In other words, it was a close second but not quite as advanced as liquid latex.
The last measurement of formalin was recorded to have lost 14.13% and finish with a mass of 549.95g
compared to 640.45g. With this knowledge we feel that the formalin could have potentially been more
effective if we had used unused formalin.
Concluding our experiment, it was apparent that liquid latex achieved maximum use at delaying the
mass loss of the foot. Formalin performed fairly decently while oils only had moderate success and
quality. On the contrary, phenol and alcohol performed indecently and lost much more mass in
comparison with liquid latex which had more efficacious results.Whether or not the data was skewed
from maggots, incorrect calculations, or ineffective materials, the results convey a fairly reliable
source of facts and statistics based on

Essay on Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C has been referred to as a quot;Silent Epidemic, quot; since it usually progresses slowly
over many years. Most people who are infected with hepatitis C are not aware of any noticeable
symptoms for as long as one to two decades after they are infected. In fact, by the time symptoms
appear, the virus has probably already begun to damage the liver. If the liver is injured and stops
functioning, death will always be the outcome (Lieber). Liver failure from chronic hepatitis C is one
of the most common causes of liver transplants in the United States.

After 1992 blood banks began screening the blood for the hepatics C virus. According to Dr. Palmer
on page 117 she states, that it has been estimated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that almost
300,000 Americans have contracted HCV prior to the advent of screening of donated blood and blood
product for HIV.
Today, the incidence of obtaining this virus by receiving a blood transfusion is approximately 1 in
200,000 units of blood donors. In essence, the likelihood of contacting HCV from blood transfusion
has been minuscule since 1992. The reason that this small risk still exists is that when a person
initially becomes infected with HCV for a short period of time, known as the window period, the HCV
antibody is not detectable in the blood. If this person donates blood during the window period, her
blood will carry HCV, but it will not be detectable. Dr..Palmer recommends anyone who received a
blood transfusion prior to 1992 be tested for HCV.
According to Cohen and Gish the HCV virus can live outside the body for three to four hours and is
not easily killed with chlorine bleach. Therefore, other means of transmission are shared personal
grooming items such as razors, toothbrushes, scissors and manicuring equipment, which may carry
blood residue.
Lastly is unprotected sex. The virus is present in the menstrual blood of infected women, so sexual
intercourse at this time creates a potentially hazardous

Narrative Essay About Going To The Beach
It was finally summer vacation and my family and I decided to go to the beach as soon as the last day
of school ended. While I sat in my seat in class, the anticipation of going to the beach kept me from
concentrating, all I saw was the teacher s familiar mouth formations, speaking to the class about some
Post World War Two battle involving a conspiracy about Hitler and the Nazi regime in the classroom.
I sat there, in the tan metal chair attached to the wooden desk next to the wall, waiting. Time passed by
and my excitement increased as I rushed out of the room, down the dim hallway, past the office out
the glass, front doors to see my family parked in the teeming parking lot. As soon as I got into the car,
my dad hit the gas pedal and we were off to our beloved destination. Hours passed and we neared the
beach, and I could see the ocean and the grainy sand. We were almost there and I could not contain my
enthusiasm. I was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning! We got to the parking lot and I could see
the towering building above me awaiting my presence. I leaped out of the car with my items and
headed straight to the glass doors. I sped up the stairs, to the third floor, down the hallway, to the sixth
door on the right. I dropped my stuff off into the room and went straight outside and out to the beach
because I could not wait any longer. Wow. I said as I stuck my feet in the scorching sand and felt the
heat pass in between my toes as I walked across the beach. I

Essay Comparing The River And The Crossover
The River and The Crossover both had important lessons in them. THey had similar and different
points in what they were saying. The takeaway I liked the most from both of these writings was there
is always room for improvement. You should never be satisfied with what you have done. You want to
be remembered for what you do, not for helping someone else live their dream. These themes were
very obvious to me.
Josh wasn t satisfied in what he done in the game before or in practice earlier, he wanted to get better.
He even got better in free throws, which he hated and that was his worst skill in basketball. His father
also pushed him to practice harder so he would get better. In the song, The River, Garth Brooks

Doublespeak By William Lutz Analysis
In the essay Doubts About Doublespeak (1993), William Lutz depicts how utilizing doublespeak can
damage a society. Lutz begins with providing examples of doublespeak that range from silly to
serious, showing how doublespeak can be harmless, but also disguise a truth with a manipulation of
words. There are many different types of doublespeak, Lutz breaks it down into four different
categories euphemism, jargon, gobbledygook and inflated language. By breaking them down, Lutz
shows the audience that they share similarities in which they make something negative sound better
than it is. There are more types of doublespeak that can be seen all around us, moreover, as more
doublespeak is being created everyday and everywhere it becomes difficult ... Show more content on

He also points out that doublespeak is really influential to us as it has evolved into a language that can
easily be identified almost anywhere. Such as in North Korea doublespeak has been used by the
country when they officially named themselves the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. Which is
really deceiving because they are the exact opposite of what they call themselves and shows how
using doublespeak can be used to hide an awful truth. Doublespeak is also in our everyday life
especially in the food products that we are influenced to purchase. Coca Cola isn t just a brand that
sells soft drinks, but also lies ever since they started selling their beverage Diet Coke. When this big
corporation inserts the word diet into their product, they manipulate people into thinking it is healthy,
when they know that it is much worse than a normal soft drink. The company uses doublespeak to
make something look better than it actually is for their own benefit. Of course, doublespeak can cover
an ugly truth that people may not want to face but it is not worth the damage it can cause. Although
doublespeak has a bad side, Lutz should have also looked at the positive side of things as doublespeak
can actually be useful in various

  • 2. Junior Year Goals Research Paper Junior Year Goals My first goal is to stay on top of any reading in english class throughout the year. I chose this because although I love reading, I m generally a slow reader and this causes me to get discouraged and fall behind at some points. I plan to achieve this goal by not procrastinating, and trying my hardest to stay focus on the book instead of outside distractions. One way to achieve this would be insuring that wherever I read is quiet and free of distractions. By doing so, this will help me focus on the words, and hopefully speed up my reading pace. My second goal is becoming more physically active. I chose this goal because as the school year goes on I seem to become less and less physically active as I am busy with school work. School is always my top priority, but my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some ways to achieve this would be to walk my two dogs, as this not only provides exercise for me, but the dogs as well (they need it just as much as I do). Not only will daily exercise improve my health, it will teach me time management, which is a long term benefit that I will use for the rest of my life. My third goal, which will be the most difficult for me, is earning a B grade or higher on all of my final exams at Xavier. Throughout my academic career, exams have always been a huge stretch for me. A big part of why I don t do as well as I would prefer on exams is because of my level of anxiety leading up to it. Study habits are a strength for me, but keeping myself calm is what I have trouble with. As soon as I walk into the room to take an exam, I start second guessing my first instinct, even though it is usually correct. By the time I finish, I m flustered and discouraged. A way to fix this problem would to make sure that my studying is concrete. By making sure that I have all of the information I need in my head, this should reduce my stress level. This could include using study guides, becoming involved in a study group, and always staying for 8th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Racism In Public Space Essay Life is very difficult in public spaces. It not only has the twists and turns but, for minorities, is racist. Ever since the slave days, African Americans have known to be cautious around police. A few decades ago, the Jim Crow laws legalized separation of races in numerous public spaces. Most blacks have had to adapt to racism and profiling, which is by police due to the white majority in American cities. The recent epidemic of police shootings has made the situation even more worrisome. One can see the effects of this in the streets, the television, and most importantly, the police. Racism in public space influences police perceptions of African Americans through civilian shootings, community emotions, separation between whites and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not excluded, to Zimmerman, racism in the culture of Sanford affected the police as deeply as the citizens. Racism in public space influences police perceptions of African Americans through community emotions. There were various opinions in Sanford natives after Martin s death about the racism of police and the overall community. The black natives there felt that police only get but one side, (Onwuachi Willig 1166). The racial minority felt total abandonment from the police in important times of stress and grief. In expression of how the other side of the community felt, a white neighbor of Zimmerman said of the unity of Caucasians and of African Americans in Sandford that they don t want to be with us and we don t want to be with them, (Onwuachi Willig 1177). It is not a surprise that community emotions were filled with anger in both blacks and whites and the police proved themselves unable to provide help. Emotions cannot just influence one s opinions of the community, but one s opinions of their job. The racial community divide shown within these quotes extends far beyond Sanford county and the state of Florida. It is paramount across many American communities and cites. Whites fear those of black color and implicit fear is common within this majority. In a recent NYC study, whites showed to feel the most comfortable with the police and least likely to view police brutality as a problem compared to minorities (Fine, et al. 149). While many blacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Parenting... A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running, trying to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple, are having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. So, single parenting faces more disadvantages like the experience of economic hardship, negative judgment of the community and the psychological effects on rearing children that make the family and relation cycle really complicated. Single parenting is about having a child without living with a partner or spouse. In historical events, the major reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, their children may suffer bullying because of having only one parent. This can affect the children s way of living. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and mental health issues. The child will not be able to do what he wants because he will be afraid to socialize with other children. Second, a child with a single parent can compare their selves to the other children who have married parents. A child may feel envious about not having a father/mother to guide him/her. According to Paul R. Amato, Children living with single parents are exposed to more stressful experiences and circumstances than being children living with continuously married parents. This statement proves that single parents are having a hard time raising their children. Lastly, the children living with a single parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings. Children who don t see or feel the act of love between his/her parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings with other person. Due to unseen acts of love, the child may be confused on how he/she will show their feelings with other person. So instead of showing it, they are going to hide their feeling with their self ... • 5. Media And Mass Media Deviance Media is the most effective method of mass communication. There are many different sources of mass media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news media, print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017). Considering all the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an influence on deviant behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance rather than reducing it. When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as behavior that is inherently bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that departs from the social constructs of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly used amongst mass media to entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent social constructs to make a profit. Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there wouldn t be any motive behind showing them. All things considered, what the media covers and how much they chose to cover has significantly changed over the years, the most apparent in crime coverage. This consistent coverage of crime gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the media. They can feel a part of the intensity of an investigation, cheer on the enforcers, become immersed in their stereotypes. On the other hand, they can appreciate deviance for its resilience to overcome and resist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most individuals looks for ways to reduce certain parts of their body however, the bitter truth is that you just cannot spot reduce. Fat loss or weight loss is dependent on your diet and your exercise. Globalization is changing the world we live in at a very increasingly rapid pace (Rodrik., 1997). Identify the competences key to the success of Netflix s strategy and explain why. Netflix was a late entrant to the movie rental market and it was a first mover in the on line movie rental market. Netflix s strategy in the movie rental market is differentiation from traditional movie rental stores. Instead of attracting customers to a retail location, Netflix offered home delivery of DVDs through the mail. Why only DVDs? As a bigger company Blockbuster has the financial funds to attract more subscribers using heavy marketing. This entry directly enters Netflix s niche market and now Netflix has to find a way to differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix s entry strategy to these new markets? It could ship the DVDs from USA but this option would have serious disadvantages like import tariffs, shipping costs, long delivery time which would lead to customer dissatisfaction and a very small market share with probably losses rather than profits. If Netflix would open a subsidiary in Europe it would not have problems like the latter but it would need investors since financing the whole subsidiary may present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as a difference to the US, is consisted of many small independent countries with their own laws and import tariffs so this could be a problem as well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If Netflix would try to ship movies from the US (which would also present shipping costs) the European customers might not like US movies that much. They might prefer European movies better. Another issue is that Netflix doesn t have an established relationship with any European movie studio. So they would lose the competitive advantage that they have in the US. Another problem is the language barrier. In many countries like Germany, Italy, or Spain, movies are ... • 9. Questions On Demand And Demand QUESTION 1 Explain, with the use of demand and supply diagram(s), the difference between a change in quantity demanded of hats and a change in demand for hats. The difference between a change in Quantity demand and demand for hats are explained below: Change in Quantity Demand: The movement alongside a demand curve because of the only factor that is price. For example: If the price of Hat is $5 people will buy 20 hats, if the price of hats increased by 10% people will buy less hats. (Figure in hard copy) Change in Demand: The movement of Demand curve because of other factor not by the price i.e. buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. (Figure in hard copy) So, the difference between Change in demand cure and change is demand Change In quantity demand is related with the change of price whereas change in demand is not about the price it is about other factor Such as: buyers, tastes, income and expectations of buyers, preferences. • 10. The Human Resources Department Of An Organization Or... 1. Please briefly explain why you chose to interview this person: I ended up interviewing Jennifer Noonan who works in the Human Resources Student Employment Department in University Housing. I choose to interview her because I work in housing and I was able to get in contact with her fairly easily. I also hope to work in the field of Management and Human resources, so I wanted to interview someone in that field to get a sense of what the career entails. 2. What are at least four things you learned from your informational interview about your contact s career path/job responsibilities, employer, and/or industry? Jennifer explained to me the basic role of the human resources department of an organization or corporation. I learned that it s one of the most important aspects of a business, because they are the ones who make sure all of the other departments are running as efficient as possible. Helping with the hiring process of new employees is something I didn t know HR is a part of, and they help hiring managers find the best possible candidates and make sure everything is in place for their future employment. Jennifer also informed me that the role of HR is constantly changing, and the old stereotypes of HR being the sticklers or the mean people is slowly changing. Human resources job is to follow and enforce the rules of the government and corporation, and that s why they were always portrayed negatively. 3. Collaborative, Trustworthy, Inspiring, ... To do this they have four roles to play which are; research, conservation, education and welfare. Research: Research is the careful search or inquiry for new facts by scientific study of a subject, through a course of critical investigation. By studying animals we can learn new things about their behaviour and lifestyle. The Secretary of State s Standards of Modern Zoo Practice (SSSMZP) encourage zoos to carry out research. Zoos try to make the animal s enclosure as interesting as possible. One way of doing this is through ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT. Enrichment is the use of novel objects or ideas to increase the natural behaviour of the animals. Different objects and methods are used for different animals. (1) The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the umbrella organisation for the world zoo and aquarium community. Whilst recognising the variation in culture and customs within which the WAZA operates, it is incumbent upon all members to exercise the highest standards of animal welfare and to encourage these standards in others. Training staff to the highest level possible represents one method of ensuring this aim. Members of WAZA will ensure that all animals in their care are treated with the utmost care and their welfare should be paramount all times. • 15. The Issue of School Prayer The issue of school prayer has been a thorny one in the United States for many years now. In the beginning of the nineteenth century readings of the Bible and prayer were common practices in public schools. However prayer was banned in 1962 due to claims that it was violating the First Amendment right that the government was not allowed to support religion, and from then on the Supreme Court has ruled against any and all forms of prayer in schools. Schools cannot however ban students from praying in school and it is against the law to deny a student of his or her own personal beliefs. To this day prayers are said at special events such as ballgames, graduations, and the daily moment of silence, but these are sometimes frowned upon because people find public prayer offensive (At Issue: School Prayer). Praying in schools should be allowed for those who want to do it because it should not be about pleasing those who do or don t have certain beliefs. It should be up to the student to decide whether he or she wants to pray in school. Both religious and nonreligious students should be allowed to coexist and not have to sacrifice religious practices so satisfy the other. Arguments can be made in favor for both parties. The most important factor though, to consider here is that the First Amendment still stands that everyone should have freedom of religion whether they choose to take it or not. There is no possible way to determine whether or not the absence of religion is at fault ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, whereas erotic feminine masochism relies on the primary erogenous masochism, constitutes a basis of the first narcissistic foundations and counterinvests moral masochism, for some people, the encounter with the sexual might be contrastingly traumatizing and reactive pregenital anxieties of intrusion that may be compared with a revivification of incest (Schaeffer, 2002). The generation record and the regenerative rates were not affected by the precipitation design. The multiplication list speaks to the extent of regenerative females and adolescents in the populace. Therefore, one conceivable reason for the non huge relationship amongst precipitation and multiplication record might be the expansion of grown up movement after stormy winters (Lima and Jaksic unpublished work). Then again, the regenerative rate is a gauge of the quantity of adolescents delivered by a female amid the reproducing season, and includes the litter size, litter number and the survival rates of the posterity. Consequently, our outcomes propose that precipitation does not impact these parameters. This is a fascinating result, in light of the fact that an expansion in the quantity of litters created by females after abnormally stormy winters has been hypothesized as one of the instruments activating populace episodes of this species. This is done in a safe and secure setting, whilst maintaining a confidential and non judgemental manner. Before the therapeutic relationship can develop, both client and counsellor must write up a contract covering areas such as confidentiality, fees, duration of sessions, number of sessions and responsibilities. Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced Chemistry 12 Formal Report Measuring Reaction Rate using Volume of Gas Produced By John Doe 23th October 2012 Introduction An essential element of chemistry is finding reaction rates. This is because chemists need to know how long a reaction should take. In addition to needing to know the rate of a reaction at any point in time to monitor how the reaction is proceeding. Many factors effect reaction rates, two shown above include temperature and concentration. Concentration affects the rate of reactions because the more concentrated a solution the more likely collisions between particles will be. This is simply because there are more particles present to collide with each other. When the temperature is higher, particles will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In next reaction which took place at a temperature 10˚ higher than that had a rate of 39.5 mL/minute. Next was the reaction which took place at 10˚ below room temperature which resulted in a rate of 26.8 mL/minute. In the reaction that 20 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach solution and the temperature was kept constant, the reaction rate dropped to 16.2 mL/minute. Finally the slowest reaction occurred when 60 mL of distilled water was added to the bleach causing a rate of 10.8 mL/minute. The rate value changes as the temperature is changed. When the temperature increases by 10˚, the rate of the reaction increases by a factor of 0.12 (12%). This is again changed when the temperature is changed to 10˚ below room temperature. This results in a rate of production of oxygen, which is decreased by a factor of 0.25 (25%). When the concentrations were changed so did the rate of reaction. When the concentration was changed to 0.265M the rate of reaction dropped by a factor of 0.5 (50%) below the control value. Furthermore when 60mL of water was added to the bleach dropping the concentration too 0.132M the rate dropped by a factor of 0.7 (70%). • 26. Persuasive Essay On Blind Hope Your homework is not done. You check the due date once again in disbelief that it could possibly be due in ten minutes. You wait in anguish until you come up with the wonderful idea that the teacher just might be willing to forgive today. Surely others have missed the deadline as well. You ease yourself into a mellow confidence as you decide to turn the assignment in blank. The teacher doesn t buy your story of how it was not posted in a good location and hands it back to you with a zero. It is rare that these situations ever work out. Blind hope can only lead to unforeseen consequences. Blind hope can cause one to ignore risks and look only to what good could come out of it. The rewards always seem to outweigh the risks. A good example of this is seen in people who like to gamble. They would believe that the next spin will be the one ; it has to be. The problem is, the chances of that are almost none, and they loose money each time they go just one more time. There are also numerous fictional stories that illustrate this, one being Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets. Thinking about the benefits, He imagined himself describing it; it would make a good story at the office and, it occurred to him, would add a special interest and importance to his memorandum, which would do it no harm at all (Finney 4). This result could have been due to the fact that the formalin was not pure because it was previously utilized for an unknown amount of time. Formalin has strong dehydrating and oxidizing agents. Its purpose is to be used as a disinfectant, a germicide, and it fixes/preserves tissue cells. Additionally, it combines with proteins, inactivating them, and kills them. It preserves efficiently due to the fact that it penetrates deep into the tissue, kills present bacteria, helps prevent future bacteria, and assists with retaining the tissue structure (Mercer County Community College, 2016). In our experiment, it lost about 14.13%, or 91.6g of its original mass while liquid latex lost 13.81% , phenol lost 19.05%, oils lost 14.46%, and alcohol lost 17.00%.
