Essay On Fall Out Boy
Save Rock and Roll
After a long tragic four year break up the boys are back and determined to save rock and roll. If their
comeback suggests delusion of grandeur, they re only picking up where they left off.
Fall Out Boy (FOB) is an American rock band from Illinois that originated in 2001, from 2001 to
present time the band has released a total of nine albums, twenty one singles. The band has sold a total
of 7.5 million albums. Sadly in 2010 the band called a quits as Wentz was becoming a father, and
Stump went on to do a solo album Solo Punk . In FOB decided just like any other rock band that they
could burn out or fade away, so in 2013 they staged a comeback... Save Rock and Roll

word fire and the concept of burning is a recurring theme. In the song The Phoenix, Stump belts out

band then raps up the final song on the album with Save Rock and Roll, with guest star Elton John.
This song was for the fans one hundred percent, basically saying that they go away again. The band

Life of a Teenager
The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends
impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to
ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good
advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to
smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around
certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education.
Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of
doing their work. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Close family ties are an important bond for each member of the family. A guy who wants to date a girl
must ask for her parents permission. In case no permission is granted, it is highly unlikely for the date
to actually happen, unless in some cases that the girl and guy sneak out and date out secretly.
However, this is morally unacceptable in Philippine culture. Filipino parents are very strict with their
children having romantic relationships. Brothers are generally protective of their sisters. Even cousins
and other relatives are protective of their young female cousins and relatives. They become more
lenient when their daughters, sisters and relatives reach the legal age of 18. When picking up the girl
at her home for a date, it is common to provide gifts to the family members (parents, grandparents and
siblings) as well. Parents usually want to have some conversation with the guy and ask about his
family and educational background before they can go out for a date. First Date The first date is
officially a time to get to know each other. The couple ask about each other s backgrounds and it is
highly unlikely to have a passionate kiss after the date. Some girls allow a kiss on the cheek after the
first date, but this varies per person and per couple. Some guys don t even get the chance to hold the
hand of their conservative dates. However, the more liberal females are more open to

Drawing 101 Research Paper
I have been learning about the art since I was young. It was 4 years ago that I started studying the art

still do not know a lot. In Korea, we learn drawing first when we begin to learn about the art. Such as
Rendering, sketches, and animation, drawing is necessary in the art and design. I learned the

that Drawing 101 gave me an opportunity to learn advanced study such as how to do portraits, still life
by pastel, and three point perspective.
First of all, the method of drawing portraits is what I learned the most in Drawing 101. I would answer

The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory Essay
The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory
The importance of memory is very high in comparison to the content of the memory. We use memory
to recall information such as where you park your car upon arrival at the mall, the time and channel a
particular news special is to be aired, or the types of drugs to which your child may be allergic. The
former two are processed very shallowly. The information may be needed today but two weeks later, it
is not important and most likely not remembered due to the weak memory trace. The latter of the three
examples is vital information which is processed much more deeply that the other two.
With the way that amnesiacs memory work, and patients with MS or focal lesions or Alzheimer s
disease, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would have to remember what was previously presented, and recall the words to complete the
word list.
A method of influencing, or priming, both the implicit and explicit memory is by altering the depth, or
level of processing (LOP), prior to performing the word list. Altering the depth refers to the amount of
cognitive processing it takes to interpret information. In these studies, the LOP is typically
manipulated by changing what qualities about the words the participant is focusing on. Depending on
how the LOP is changed will determine whether the participant is using a deep LOP or shallow LOP
to process the information presented.
Deep LOPs are affected participant s interpretations of words on a list by their semantic meanings and
uses such as their pleasantness, their meaning, or how they fit into a particular sentence or category.
Shallow LOPs use less detail about the words and look at more nonsemantic qualities of the words
such as the font in which the words are printed, searching for particular letters, counting the number of
letters, or counting the number of vowels.
Implicit and explicit memory is affected by the LOP. The more time and thinking that go into
interpreting a word (i.e. meaning or usage), the more likely it will be that the word can be quickly
recalled. As information is gathered from different sources throughout the day, such as watching
television commercials, reading instructions, or

Jamaica Kincaid s Girl
Jamaica Kincaid s story of Girl, is a mind blowing experience between mother and daughter. This
Essay presents a plot summary of Jamaica Kincaid s Girl as well as providing historical, societal,
religious, scientific and biographical context for the short story. Kincaid s unusual land difficult to
classify piece of short fiction consists of a brief monologue by an Antiguan mother to her adolescent
daughter (Kim Bencel, 2) This is a story, not in verse or order that will remind you of days gone by.
The mother is hell bent on making a respectful young lady. Her mother singles out singing benna in
Sunday school, and habitually scolds her loose behavior towards becoming a slut. However, she

This is an Antiqua, British story where things are different, but really no different, than the upbringing
in rural United States. Born in the West Indian Island of Antigua, Kincaid admits that her desire to
write came while she was young, but it seemed like avocation that would elude her because she knew
so little about what it involved (ProQuest Learning, 1). Themes that included things she had perhaps
experienced personally. The poem stresses that the conditions are so poor that mother must prepare her
daughter for womanhood and to find a decent man. It teaches her to cook certain baked goods and to
be a good housekeeper. It alerts her to the not so nice part of life, and that smiling at a person you
dislike is not the same smile you render to a person you really approve. Girl is rebellious and is
reminded at every stop what to do and what to not do. Mother thinks girl is hell bound and about to be
a tramp, (slut). She feels that she may never get one of the good boys if she acts in a certain way.
Being a woman in poverty, her anger seems to get the best of her in different ways. The voice of the
poem gets harsh after a while. It explores the things of today s taboo headlines such as abortion. This
means, if the man girl choses don t work out, there is a remedy for

Before 1918, women were considered to be very much within their own sphere of influence separate
from men. Throughout the 19th century women had slowly been gaining voting privileges, but only in
areas considered to be within their spheres such as the vote for school boards, the vote for poor law
boards and the vote for county councils. Traditionally many historians have argued that the main
reason for the enfranchisement of women in 1918 was their work during world war one. This view is
being disputed on multiple levels; some argue that the war itself called for a rearrangement of the
whole electoral system. Alternatively other historians argue that the work of the women s suffrage
workers such as the suffragist s and the suffragettes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This clause meant that young men who had been fighting overseas during the war for more than six
months did not meet this requirement and were disenfranchised. This caused public outrage and was
seen to be completely unacceptable that young men were deemed ineligible to vote for the government
of the country they had risked their lives fighting to protect. Bartley argues that due to the unjustness
of this, the whole electoral system had to be rethought and this included women s rights.
Although the war and women s efforts during the war were a significant factor in gaining the vote for
women, the campaigning of the suffragist s has been argued to have been of more significance. The
National Union of women s suffrage societies or the NUWSS aka the Suffragists was an association
composed of mainly middle class women who were well educated and brought up believing in equal
rights for women. The reason there were very few working class women in the NUWSS was because
they were generally not supported by their husbands as working class men believed that women
should remain below them and did not believe in equal rights. The leader of the NUWSS was
Millicent Fawcett; a middle class woman, married to a lawyer and was brought up believing in equal
rights. Millicent Fawcett and the NUWSS employed peaceful tactics such as holding peaceful protests
in the form of marches and wrote newspaper articles in order to campaign for women s rights. There

A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin
America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the
Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in
ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was
almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested
tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people
of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice.
Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone
hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing,
composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In
an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large
collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation
mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather
than a single language. Quiché and Mam, two modern Mayan languages, are no more alike than
English and German or French and Italian. Life was good to those lucky

1. What is the significance of the Golan Heights?
Situated in the upland region of south western Syria, the Golan Heights borders southern Lebanon,
north western Jordan, and north eastern Israel. According to the BBC profile on the Golan Heights, the
region is a rocky plateau overlooking southern Syria and its capital Damascus from the Israeli vantage
point up to 40 miles north, thus serving as a strategic site for Israel to monitor the activities of the
Islamic State and Syrian rebel groups that have their bases in the area. Although the region was under
Syrian control, Israel seized it from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War which Syria, along with Egypt and
Jordan, lost. To this day, the loss of the Golan Heights is an open wound in Syria and it was in the Six

Latin American Culture Analysis
Drug cartels and drug wars have been a big issue in Mexico and other Latin American countries over
the past two decades. When people hear the term drug war , they immediately think of the notorious
Narco, Pablo Escobar, who during the 80 s was one of the DEA and FBI s most wanted criminals.
With the ongoing war on drugs in Mexico, the whole history and idea of drug cartels and trafficking of
drugs has become a popular and compelling storyline for television series in America. With that being
said, the increase of drug related shows in American television negatively reflects the image of Latin
Americans in the US through: racial stereotypes, poor representation on TV, and a lack of character
development.

Gus is a Latin American and Walter is a White American. The scholarly source brings up a point that
shows tend to stereotype minorities while they showed White characters as authority figure (Gonzalez
iii). The idolization of Walter could have to do with the fact that viewers don t have much to compare
the representation of Latin Americans to, Americans know their own culture and not much about
Latinos. So, the way Latin Americans are portrayed specifically in Breaking Bad and Narcos doesn t
give the viewers anything to compare to. Thus, they might believe actions and routines of Latin
American characters to be accurate which leads to a negative image. Nonetheless, Gus is essentially
another version of Walter, they are both very meticulous with their work and never trust strangers. But
due to the way the show is portrayed, Gus doesn t get enough scenes or backstories for the viewers to
be able to relate to him. When viewers can relate to a character, they start to idolize them since they
have characteristics or attitudes in common. Also, Gus isn t introduced in the series until a later
season. As a result, by the time he is introduced, the viewers already stand by

Objective of Financial Reporting
Since the core objective of financial reporting is to provide useful information to report users for
making and reviewing resource allocation decisions (Deegan, 2012), it is of paramount importance
that these statements are faithfully represented and relevant. The absence of either characteristic will
cripple the decision making process.
Single Measurement Approach
Some companies attempt to meet those characteristics by relying on a single measurement approach.
This is because it provides them with higher levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Market values may be exposed to economic fluctuations which may cause assets/liabilities
to be under or over valued.
Mixed Measurement Approach
As such, many companies, like Woolsworths, prefer to use a mixed measurement approach as there is
flexibility to use more than a single measurement approach for different situations. Considering the
different informational needs of report users, certain measurements may not be suitable to present
information in a useful way (Dvořáková, 2009). For example, when there is a need for Woolsworth to
predict the cash flows of an operation in a going concern business, cost accounting or historical costs
measurement would be most appropriate, since cash flows should not deviate that much from previous
years. However, when attempting to value prospective investments, fair value measurement would be
more appropriate because it is based on current prices, and is therefore more accurate, which will help
us make an informed decision on the future prospects of the investment.
Having said that, a mixed measurement approach presents its own set of problems. Firstly, it can lead
to an additivity problem where there is an aggregation of data that is measured by different
approaches. Also, it undermines the comparability of financial

How The American Revolution Changed The Country
In American history, many events have changed the country; in spite of wars, attacks, and disasters;
people still have hope for a bright future. The American Revolution (1775 1783) is also known as the
U.S. War of independence. The conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great
Britain s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British
crown. World War I began in 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and lasted
until 1918. During the conflict, Germany, Austria Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire fought
against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan, and the United States. More than 16
million people soldiers and civilians alike were dead. World War II, Hitler s invasion of Poland in
September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany, and World War II had

Rise Of The Anti Hero
Rise of the Anti Hero Through Cable and Subscription TV From Tony Soprano to Walter White to
Don Draper the anti hero seems to have replaced the classic hero on TV as a result of 3 following
major influences. Over the past few decades, due to events of the world such as wars, attacks, natural
disaster instilled a mistrust in establishments such as government and journalism, which is then
reflected in the popular culture with the stories told on TV. The second major influence is the shift in
FCC regulations for cable and subscription content that has had a major effect on the types stories that
can be told in these two mediums. And third influence is the networks breaking free from advertising
pressure; subscription TV has changed the landscape of TV, clearing the path for stories that are not
influenced by rating and advertising, and valuing the story itself. The first and foremost factor that
enabled creators to write and audiences to consume stories about anti heroes goes hand in hand with
society s severe mistrust in establishments. TV has had a major role in how events unfolded in late
20th and early 21st century, making it possible to bring the news into our living rooms. The rise of the
anti hero is a product of a series of chain events that started with many atrocities that our society had
to endure, followed by society s realization of how flawed our government and news reporting was,
eventually leaving the the people of this country (and of the world) with a darker

Totalitarian Government In 1984, Big Brother Is Watching You
In 1984, Big Brother Is Watching You. Someone couldn t take two steps without bumping into a poster
of a stern looking man (known as Big Brother) seeming to stare into the soul of the viewer. Big
Brother acts as a Godlike figure to the citizens of Oceania, a super nation constantly at war with the
other two super nations. The government of Oceania, the Party, keeps citizens in a vice like grip
through constant surveillance and laws placed on every aspect of human existence. The only loyalty
allowed is to the Party. The Party controls the past, the present, and the future through its control over
anything and everything. The government set up in 1984 directly reflects that of a totalitarian
government. Totalitarianism as it exists in George Orwell s 1984 exhibits key features which bare
striking resemblance to modern governments. The Party in 1984 uses Emmanuel Goldstein as a face
for the people of Oceania to project their hate onto (in order to unite the people in hate.) The Two
Minutes Hate is a ritual performed by the members of the Outer Party, as pictures are displaced for the
people to scream and curse at. Its purpose is to strengthen the Party s position by giving the people
someone to be mad at (that isn t Big Brother.) If the people feel a lack of control over their own lives,
they re able to channel that into hate of the evil Emmanuel Goldstein and East and Eurasia (instead of
being mad at Big Brother.) During one of the rituals, Winston explains that although

Difference of Marketing Product and Service
The Marketing of product and service are different
A product is normally a thing that sold to people and mostly is tangible. Basically, the marketing of
product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and promotion
(Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of customers in a
specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand. Firstly, it is
necessary for marketers to focus on the strength as well as eliminate the vulnerabilities of marketed
products in order to improve products to meet customer s demand as much as possible. Secondly, the
price is an important factor in product marketing because of the price must be set to match with ...

I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself.
The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior
consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch, feel,
taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk
through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how well
of service if they do not buy the menu.
Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services
marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service always
exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match supply with
demand in service marketing.
Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between the
client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services marketing
than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face each other just
once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see each other again.
However, in services marketing, consumers and service providers may have to see each other
frequently throughout until the contract is ended or until the last thing that consumers

ABSTRACT
The GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri is an afterburning gas turbine engine that was developed by the Gas
Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) division of the Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO). In 1989, the DRDO started developing the GTX 35VS Kaveri engine as an
indigenous power plantto replace the General Electric F404 engines that were initially set to power the
Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)
and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Kaveri Engine has a higher thrust,
both dry and wet thrust, than the SNECMA M88. However, due to the Kaveri engine not being able to
satisfy the performance requirements for the LCA, and several delays and cost overruns, the GTX
35VS was decoupled from theTejas programme in late 2008.
A case study of the GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri engine is being done to look at the engine that was
developed over the 25 year programme, and the shortfalls of the engine design are being analysed
using information, and documents that have been declassified. The Kaveri project has now been
disbanded, and has been used as the foundation point for the successors being called the K9+ and the
K10, being developed for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), and the final version

The Characteristics Of Andrew Carnegie
Andrew Carnegie became one of the wealthiest men in the entire world, primarily due to his steel
company. He lived from 1835 to 1919, and his industry grew in the time of the Gilded Age, a period
marked by industrial and economic growth. Carnegie had many different attributes, making it difficult
for historians to characterize him. Some argue that he was a robber baron (someone who uses immoral
techniques to gain wealth), a philanthropist (someone who donates money for the good of others), or a
captain of industry (someone who becomes very rich through business). While aspects of the robber
baron and philanthropist characterizations are true, Carnegie was a successful businessman first and
foremost. Carnegie was an intelligent and consequentialist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He made his successful workers into his partners, as [n]othing delighted Carnegie more than to see the
man whom he had lifted from a puddler s furnace develop into a millionaire. This motivation likely
stemmed from his own poor upbringing and success in life. In his essay titled Gospel of Wealth,
Carnegie encouraged wealthy people to give money to the public and suggested seven fields in which
to invest the money. In another essay, called The Advantages of Poverty, he provided insight into one
of his motivations for philanthropy, by claiming wealthy philanthropists can find refuge from self
questioning in the thought of the much greater portion of their means which is being spent on others.
Carnegie also believed that when his mind was solely preoccupied with making the largest possible
amount of money as quickly as possible, he was degrad[ing himself] beyond hope of permanent
recovery. Carnegie was particularly interested in giving libraries to various towns, but this quickly
became a business like gift. First, there was an application process the town had to go through. Then,
only gifting the building of the library, Carnegie would demand that the town collect taxes to pay for
the books and maintain the library (which usually cost every year about 10% of the amount of money
Carnegie donated). However, Carnegie s library giving had a pattern. After he broke up the union in
Braddock, he gifted that town a library. In a response to a letter from Homestead asking for a gift, he
replied if Homestead would only do something for him, he would be pleased to build a library there.
Towns were so afraid that libraries signified their destruction that 225 towns refused Carnegie s offer
of a library, as his offer was more threat than promise. Indeed, they could expect to pay a heavy

The Importance Of The Somme On The Home Front
In 1916, the battle of the Somme began, intending to end the war for the allies. It pitted an
unexperienced British army, against a professional German one. It was also, however significant in
many ways. Two of the main areas where the battle of the Somme was significant were in its military
value, and the reactions it caused, on the home front. The battle of the Somme, intended to end the war
that year, had ambitious objectives, it was significant for failing to achieve almost all of these. One of
these was Beaumont Hamel, a fortified village behind the German lines. The Battle plan called for the
village to be taken on the first day. The fact that the village was not taken until the very end of the
battle on the 13th of November, illustrates how much the plan failed. Demonstrating the level to which
the plan failed Private Anthony Stacey reports that this was a death trap for our boys as the enemy just
set the sights of their machine guns on the gaps in the barbed wire and fired . Another objective, Serre,
was not taken at all. In fact, the British staff were so unaware of modern weapons, that they had
cavalry ready to attack after the infantry broke through. This is significant as it shows how
inexperienced the British army was when it came to trench warfare. Had the staff understood the
trench tactics better, they would not have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nitric Oxide On Oxygen Levels
Nitric Oxide on Hypoxia Levels in Metabolism and Vasoactivity Regulation This review paper is
based on research and learned techniques through this semester (Fall 2015), conducted under Dr.
Kenneth Kambis in the Adair Hall Facility. Although final approval was authorized in December, there
were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research project
titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment Simulating
a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia levels in various
ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and vasoactivity in certain species
systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper materials, methods, and
equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygen whether in humans, sheep, rats or mice is essential to
understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be done in vivo or in vitro. In the
laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the oxygen content of the chamber
atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure of oxygen in a given hypobaric
environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis, 2015). Thus the regulation of
oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric atmospheres of up to extreme
altitude. Innovation In human research the demographics to consider in a study are age, gender,

Carlos Castaneda s A Separate Reality
In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere by Samuel Coleridge, the Marinere attains a change of
mindset with regards to the sea snakes he encounters on his journey. This moment in the poem is
larger than a simple shift from the disliking to the liking of an animal; the moment shows a larger
change within the Marinere. In conjunction with the concept of seeing in Carlos Castaneda s novel: A
Separate Reality, applying this concept to the beloved Marinere, one can discover that the Marinere
completes the act of seeing. Learning this feat of the Marinere portrays him as an even robuster
character than one first assumes. By being able to see, the Marinere creates the shift in perspective

Don Juan tries to impart on Carlos the needed knowledge that to see everything must become nothing
(Castaneda, ). This does not mean that something ceases to exist, it instead hints at the ability to
release our ties to the concepts we learn and are so attached to. Additionally, don Juan reveals later in
the novel, that it hinders Carlos to have everything explained to him: He said he was through
explaining things to me because explaining only forced me to indulge (Castaneda, 255). Don Juan
attempts to create a better environment for Carlos to see by removing the reinforcement, which before
don Juan was willingly providing. The Marinere has an environment conducive for seeing on the ship.
Though this circumstance may seem far from anything pleasant, the Marinere has the benefit of being
fully removed from a culture and other people that would help to enforce the conceptualizations we
have regarding the objects we share reality with. Being alone adds to this lack of reinforcement for the
Marinere: Alone, alone, all all alone/ A lone on the wide wide Sea (IV, 224 225). He no longer a shares
thoughts with his fellow crewmen. This removes him from the group mentality, which is a very strong
factor within the crew even during their deaths: Each turned his face

The Pros And Cons Of The Rational Choice Theory
The Rational Choice Theory was developed in the late 18th century by Cesare Beccaria, it has been
expanded to the modern theory which was developed by Noble Prize winner Gary Becker in 1969. In
Mr. Becker s theory it states that Criminal behavior is not so different than non criminal behavior, in
that it is conduct that persons intentionally choose to undertake (i.e. They are not compelled or forced
to do crime), and the reason that they choose to commit the crime is that they think it is more
rewarding and less costly for them than no criminal behavior 2.) It is my definition of the Rational
Choice Theory is that a individual will weigh out the pro s and con s of committing the offense. Is it

chapters which addressed issues relating to methodological issues associated and to its integration.
Then in 2008 Ariely furthered the theory to include human decision making in the process which are

individual in that they decide that committing the crime is more gratifying. The individual feels that
the offense they committed is easier than putting in the work than doing it legally. They feel that the
reward is worth the risk. 5.) An example of Rational Choice Theory would be one dealing with child

Red Glass Character Analysis
Throughout Red Glass, by Laura Resau, the characters have to overcome many changes. One
character that changes dramatically is the main character, Sophie. At the beginning of the novel,
Sophie is introduced as a sheltered girl, terrified of the outside world. Sophie experiences many things
that influence her to become a young woman that is willing to sacrifice her safety for the people she
loves. She is influenced mostly by the antagonist, Angel. Angel supports Sophie in ways that make her
want to change herself. Sophie changes positively throughout the story into a strong, fearless person,
and Angel s love for her is what makes her capable of that change. In the beginning, Sophie introduces
herself in the story as a nerdy, outcasted teenage girl, I always thought of myself as a free floating one
celled amoeba, minding my own business. The other kids at school were all parts of a larger organism.
. . Not particularly noticed, definitely not appreciated, just an amoeba swimming around aimlessly (9).
Sophie feels as if she does not belong where she grew up, she has always felt like she was on the
outside. Her father, a drug dealer and felon, left her mother when she was first born. Because of her
extreme self esteem issues, Sophie blames herself for her father leaving. She recalls what she believes
happened when she was born, When Mom was a teenager, I started making her belly fat. And then my
dad left. And then I was born too soon. And he came back to get us. But I was

My Reflection Of Skype
Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my
favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since I have been in college. It was different, informative,
intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having been
given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning
about others and their way of life. After speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re
read Hofstede s dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking with them. I
feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first hand is the
best learning experience I can have. To have a good take away from the book with an even better
example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from Wales and
England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with
great content and was really funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to
his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the masculinity dimension as he is
successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he
personally has a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An
example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing much about the culture or the language
and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me
the most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In
the United States kids wouldn t know what to do with themselves and I can t imagine what kind of
trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had the
opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My
impressions of Chris were that he is very intelligent and funny. He has a great sense of what he wants
in life and is able to accomplish those goals. Because of his individuality he is able to make his own
choices and do

The history between the U.S. and Nicaragua has always been aimed at making sure there politically
ideologies remain in line with our own. With the spread of communism, the U.S. had been involved in

The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 )
The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative methods for
satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including the use of individual

it would be well known also, because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent
years. Education has taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden drop in
funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive branch due to
withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and what requirements for

Abuse Of Power In Macbeth
Throughout the course of time, humanity has viewed an individual with power as someone that
possess the qualities of unwavering strength, strong influence, and control. Although this is the case,
this individual can vary depending on the circumstances. For example, one could be a King who is the
overseer to all parts of his kingdom and is well known all around the world. The other could be a poor
common man living in the slums of this very kingdom, planning to overthrow that very king. One
might think that because the man is in such a small position compared to the king, he holds less power
and doesn t pose as a threat. Well, that s the type of thinking that ought to be the downfall to humanity.
We fail to realize, it might be the small common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although marriage between man and wife is usually based off of love and trust, they seem to show to
little affection for each other or for anyone except for their own ambitious dreams. During this time
period men were assumed to have more power than the women and were ahead of the household, but
this seemed to be the opposite for this odd couple. Lady Macbeth seems to hold power over Macbeth
even when she wasn t with him. This is evident when he looks to party with his wife once he finds out
he is to be Thane of Cawdor. He even writes to her and immediately leaves the King to tell her the
news he had just received. Upon hearing the news, we see that Lady Macbeth is already plotting the
murder of Duncan and is more ruthless than Macbeth(Shakespeare, pg.317 318). Shakespeare even
ties nature to Duncan s appending death by comparing him to a symbolic raven. In the text it states,
The raven himself is hoarse(.)That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements. Come,
you spirits(.) That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top
full of direst cruelty ( Shakespeare, pg.318). This quote tells us that like Duncan, the raven is sick and
it can foresee Duncan s impending death. It also parallels Lady Macbeth to the witches because they
both speak of supernatural powers which, in this case , is to unsex her. This quote says that Lady

Using Darling and Leffel s (2010) framework, this essay will evaluate on how Josef Ackermann
demonstrated his leadership style as a Swiss banker, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Deutsche Bank and Chairman of Zurich Insurance.
As defined by Peter Northouse (2001), leadership is a process, in which an individual influences a
group to achieve a common goal. And to achieve that goal, a visionary leader should put forth much
effort to critically apply his leadership skills and knowledge. In general, leadership is more than

One of his biggest goals was turning Deutsche Bank into one of the world s top three advisers on
mergers and acquisitions and returning its status to the top ten in market value (Guyon , 2004).
As a Director level leader, Josef Ackermann has been well regarded and recognised by many as a
successful and effective manager and leader, shifting the style of management from a conventional
mode to one that focused on the needs of shareholders and on international expansion (Mitchell,
2010). According to Lussier and Achua (2010), leaders such as Ackermann are able to take swift and
decisive action, even in the most difficult situations, and take calculated risks while persevering in the
face of failure. Strong communication skills, self confidence, the ability to manage others and
willingness to embrace change also characterize a successful leader.
Ackermann has also been a member of the influential Washington based financial advisory body, the
Group of Thirty and also served on other company boards, including Bayer AG, Deutsche Lufthansa
AG, Linde, Mannesman, and Siemens AG. Ackermann changed the distribution of power within
Deutsche Bank, resulting in criticism from traditionalists and praise from those who shared his global
focus, allowing him to become the most powerful man in Germany s financial industry (Loades

What Are The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech
Imagine a school free of disruptions. Free of bullying and harassment. That s what all students and
teachers want, right? Report to school every day,get a proper education. But that s not the case in all
schools. Some students are not able to learn during the school day. They may get distracted by going
off topic in class or get disturbed by what someone is wearing. If their freedom of speech is limited,
students will actually be able to learn. Freedom of speech should have limits because it increases
education time, it allows kids to prepare for the future, and it limits bullying and harassment. Firstly,
freedom of speech should have limits because it increases education time. For example, students can
lose up to 38 days a year due to disruptions in class and about 1 hour per day (Al.com). Teenagers
report to school to get an education and learn for the future, they do not show up at school to talk to
everyone the entire day. Due of talking, they lose class time and they do not get much done. If
freedom of speech is limited students will be able to learn more. Also if another peer is wearing
something that is very distracting, this will disrupt the class. For example, the Tinker v.s Des Moines
Independent Community School District case was about students wearing armbands to support the
Vietnam War. The appearance of the armband distracted their peers from their work. The school was
able to discipline the students wearing the bands . ( Tinker v.

Culture, Symbols, Language, Cultures And Culture Of Cuba
Culture is made up of different elements; symbols, language, values and norms. Every culture has a
different perspective of the way individuals should lead their lives. Cuba is known for its cultural
diversity that is made up from Spanish, African, French and Asian influences. Cuba is located in the
northern Caribbean where the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Cuba
only shares its borders with only one country, which is the United States. The official language spoken
is Spanish. Cuba s flag is a very significant symbol to its people, Cubanos. Specifically, the three blue
stripes represent the sections the Island was divided into, the two white stripes suggest the purity of
the intentions for the people s independence, while the equilateral triangle stands for freedom, equality
and fraternity, as France was once advocating as well. The red color stood for the blood that would be
shed in order to claim the independence; with the white, single star as symbol of absolute freedom
among its people (insightcuba, 2017). Additionally, the Toroco bird is another symbol that is a very

If their comeback suggests delusion of grandeur, they re only picking up where they left off. Fall Out Boy (FOB) is an American rock band from Illinois that originated in 2001, from 2001 to present time the band has released a total of nine albums, twenty one singles. The band has sold a total of 7.5 million albums. Sadly in 2010 the band called a quits as Wentz was becoming a father, and Stump went on to do a solo album Solo Punk . In the song The Phoenix, Stump belts out You re wearing our vintage misery. No, I think it looked a little better on me and in the song Miss Missing You the chores The person that you d take a bullet for is behind the trigger really shows the raw emotion. This whole album is showing the battle with internal conflicts rather than external ones. Struggling to grow up, being jealous of the young, feeling betrayed in love, missing past happiness. The single, Just One Yesterday, which discusses wanting an ex back, while also wanting them to pay for hurting you I m here to give you all of my love, so I can watch your face as I take it all away . The band then raps up the final song on the album with Save Rock and Roll, with guest star Elton John. This song was for the fans one hundred percent, basically saying that they go away again. • 3. Life of a Teenager The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Close family ties are an important bond for each member of the family. A guy who wants to date a girl must ask for her parents permission. In case no permission is granted, it is highly unlikely for the date to actually happen, unless in some cases that the girl and guy sneak out and date out secretly. However, this is morally unacceptable in Philippine culture. Filipino parents are very strict with their children having romantic relationships. Brothers are generally protective of their sisters. Even cousins and other relatives are protective of their young female cousins and relatives. They become more lenient when their daughters, sisters and relatives reach the legal age of 18. When picking up the girl at her home for a date, it is common to provide gifts to the family members (parents, grandparents and siblings) as well. Parents usually want to have some conversation with the guy and ask about his family and educational background before they can go out for a date. First Date The first date is officially a time to get to know each other. The couple ask about each other s backgrounds and it is highly unlikely to have a passionate kiss after the date. Some girls allow a kiss on the cheek after the first date, but this varies per person and per couple. Some guys don t even get the chance to hold the hand of their conservative dates. However, the more liberal females are more open to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though I have learned and experienced so many things, I still do not know a lot. In Korea, we learn drawing first when we begin to learn about the art. • 7. The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory Essay The Effects of LOP on Implicit and Explicit Memory The importance of memory is very high in comparison to the content of the memory. We use memory to recall information such as where you park your car upon arrival at the mall, the time and channel a particular news special is to be aired, or the types of drugs to which your child may be allergic. The former two are processed very shallowly. The information may be needed today but two weeks later, it is not important and most likely not remembered due to the weak memory trace. The latter of the three examples is vital information which is processed much more deeply that the other two. They would have to remember what was previously presented, and recall the words to complete the word list. A method of influencing, or priming, both the implicit and explicit memory is by altering the depth, or level of processing (LOP), prior to performing the word list. Altering the depth refers to the amount of cognitive processing it takes to interpret information. In these studies, the LOP is typically manipulated by changing what qualities about the words the participant is focusing on. Depending on how the LOP is changed will determine whether the participant is using a deep LOP or shallow LOP to process the information presented. Deep LOPs are affected participant s interpretations of words on a list by their semantic meanings and uses such as their pleasantness, their meaning, or how they fit into a particular sentence or category. Shallow LOPs use less detail about the words and look at more nonsemantic qualities of the words such as the font in which the words are printed, searching for particular letters, counting the number of letters, or counting the number of vowels. Implicit and explicit memory is affected by the LOP. The more time and thinking that go into interpreting a word (i.e. meaning or usage), the more likely it will be that the word can be quickly recalled. This Essay presents a plot summary of Jamaica Kincaid s Girl as well as providing historical, societal, religious, scientific and biographical context for the short story. Kincaid s unusual land difficult to classify piece of short fiction consists of a brief monologue by an Antiguan mother to her adolescent daughter (Kim Bencel, 2) This is a story, not in verse or order that will remind you of days gone by. Born in the West Indian Island of Antigua, Kincaid admits that her desire to write came while she was young, but it seemed like avocation that would elude her because she knew so little about what it involved (ProQuest Learning, 1). Themes that included things she had perhaps experienced personally. The poem stresses that the conditions are so poor that mother must prepare her daughter for womanhood and to find a decent man. It teaches her to cook certain baked goods and to be a good housekeeper. It alerts her to the not so nice part of life, and that smiling at a person you dislike is not the same smile you render to a person you really approve. Girl is rebellious and is reminded at every stop what to do and what to not do. Mother thinks girl is hell bound and about to be a tramp, (slut). She feels that she may never get one of the good boys if she acts in a certain way. Being a woman in poverty, her anger seems to get the best of her in different ways. Throughout the 19th century women had slowly been gaining voting privileges, but only in areas considered to be within their spheres such as the vote for school boards, the vote for poor law boards and the vote for county councils. Traditionally many historians have argued that the main reason for the enfranchisement of women in 1918 was their work during world war one. This view is being disputed on multiple levels; some argue that the war itself called for a rearrangement of the whole electoral system. Alternatively other historians argue that the work of the women s suffrage workers such as the suffragist s and the suffragettes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This clause meant that young men who had been fighting overseas during the war for more than six months did not meet this requirement and were disenfranchised. This caused public outrage and was seen to be completely unacceptable that young men were deemed ineligible to vote for the government of the country they had risked their lives fighting to protect. Bartley argues that due to the unjustness of this, the whole electoral system had to be rethought and this included women s rights. Although the war and women s efforts during the war were a significant factor in gaining the vote for women, the campaigning of the suffragist s has been argued to have been of more significance. The National Union of women s suffrage societies or the NUWSS aka the Suffragists was an association composed of mainly middle class women who were well educated and brought up believing in equal rights for women. The reason there were very few working class women in the NUWSS was because they were generally not supported by their husbands as working class men believed that women should remain below them and did not believe in equal rights. The leader of the NUWSS was Millicent Fawcett; a middle class woman, married to a lawyer and was brought up believing in equal rights. • 11. A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice. Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing, composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather than a single language. Quiché and Mam, two modern Mayan languages, are no more alike than English and German or French and Italian. Life was good to those lucky ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, the way Latin Americans are portrayed specifically in Breaking Bad and Narcos doesn t give the viewers anything to compare to. Considering the different informational needs of report users, certain measurements may not be suitable to present information in a useful way (Dvořáková, 2009). For example, when there is a need for Woolsworth to predict the cash flows of an operation in a going concern business, cost accounting or historical costs measurement would be most appropriate, since cash flows should not deviate that much from previous years. However, when attempting to value prospective investments, fair value measurement would be more appropriate because it is based on current prices, and is therefore more accurate, which will help us make an informed decision on the future prospects of the investment. Having said that, a mixed measurement approach presents its own set of problems. • 17. Rise Of The Anti Hero Rise of the Anti Hero Through Cable and Subscription TV From Tony Soprano to Walter White to Don Draper the anti hero seems to have replaced the classic hero on TV as a result of 3 following major influences. Over the past few decades, due to events of the world such as wars, attacks, natural disaster instilled a mistrust in establishments such as government and journalism, which is then reflected in the popular culture with the stories told on TV. The second major influence is the shift in FCC regulations for cable and subscription content that has had a major effect on the types stories that can be told in these two mediums. And third influence is the networks breaking free from advertising pressure; subscription TV has changed the landscape of TV, clearing the path for stories that are not influenced by rating and advertising, and valuing the story itself. The first and foremost factor that enabled creators to write and audiences to consume stories about anti heroes goes hand in hand with society s severe mistrust in establishments. TV has had a major role in how events unfolded in late 20th and early 21st century, making it possible to bring the news into our living rooms. The rise of the anti hero is a product of a series of chain events that started with many atrocities that our society had to endure, followed by society s realization of how flawed our government and news reporting was, eventually leaving the the people of this country (and of the world) with a darker ... Basically, the marketing of product is particularly focused on 4P s in marketing mix namely product, price, place, and promotion (Ehmke Fulton Lusk, n.d.). The marketer needs to analyze the major demand of customers in a specific market in order to find out a product that can respond the market demand. I think product and services marketing are significantly different because of characteristic of itself. The first characteristic of services marketing is intangibility; it cannot be seen, touched or felt prior consumption. On the other hands, product marketing is tangible, the customer is able to touch, feel, taste or smell the product either before or after purchasing. For example, when customers walk through a restaurant, they might get the food smell from the restaurant but they cannot know how well of service if they do not buy the menu. Secondly, products can be stored in order to sell to the customer in the next time whereas services marketing mostly are unable to be inventoried, they are perishable. Hence, the value of service always exists at the point when it is required. Therefore, it seems to be very difficult to match supply with demand in service marketing. Thirdly, the other difference of product and services marketing is the level of relationship between the client and provider. Undoubtedly, there is much more personal contact required in services marketing than product marketing. In case of product marketing, customers and sellers may face each other just once time when they are dealing products and they might have no chance to see each other again. In 1989, the DRDO started developing the GTX 35VS Kaveri engine as an indigenous power plantto replace the General Electric F404 engines that were initially set to power the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Kaveri Engine has a higher thrust, both dry and wet thrust, than the SNECMA M88. However, due to the Kaveri engine not being able to satisfy the performance requirements for the LCA, and several delays and cost overruns, the GTX 35VS was decoupled from theTejas programme in late 2008. In another essay, called The Advantages of Poverty, he provided insight into one of his motivations for philanthropy, by claiming wealthy philanthropists can find refuge from self questioning in the thought of the much greater portion of their means which is being spent on others. Carnegie also believed that when his mind was solely preoccupied with making the largest possible amount of money as quickly as possible, he was degrad[ing himself] beyond hope of permanent recovery. Carnegie was particularly interested in giving libraries to various towns, but this quickly became a business like gift. First, there was an application process the town had to go through. Then, only gifting the building of the library, Carnegie would demand that the town collect taxes to pay for the books and maintain the library (which usually cost every year about 10% of the amount of money Carnegie donated). However, Carnegie s library giving had a pattern. After he broke up the union in Braddock, he gifted that town a library. In a response to a letter from Homestead asking for a gift, he replied if Homestead would only do something for him, he would be pleased to build a library there. Towns were so afraid that libraries signified their destruction that 225 towns refused Carnegie s offer of a library, as his offer was more threat than promise. Two of the main areas where the battle of the Somme was significant were in its military value, and the reactions it caused, on the home front. The battle of the Somme, intended to end the war that year, had ambitious objectives, it was significant for failing to achieve almost all of these. One of these was Beaumont Hamel, a fortified village behind the German lines. The Battle plan called for the village to be taken on the first day. The fact that the village was not taken until the very end of the battle on the 13th of November, illustrates how much the plan failed. Another objective, Serre, was not taken at all. In fact, the British staff were so unaware of modern weapons, that they had cavalry ready to attack after the infantry broke through. Although final approval was authorized in December, there were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research project titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment Simulating a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia levels in various ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and vasoactivity in certain species systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper materials, methods, and equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygen whether in humans, sheep, rats or mice is essential to understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be done in vivo or in vitro. In the laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the oxygen content of the chamber atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure of oxygen in a given hypobaric environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis, 2015). Thus the regulation of oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric atmospheres of up to extreme altitude. • 28. Carlos Castaneda s A Separate Reality In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere by Samuel Coleridge, the Marinere attains a change of mindset with regards to the sea snakes he encounters on his journey. This moment in the poem is larger than a simple shift from the disliking to the liking of an animal; the moment shows a larger change within the Marinere. In conjunction with the concept of seeing in Carlos Castaneda s novel: A Separate Reality, applying this concept to the beloved Marinere, one can discover that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Learning this feat of the Marinere portrays him as an even robuster character than one first assumes. Don Juan tries to impart on Carlos the needed knowledge that to see everything must become nothing (Castaneda, ). This does not mean that something ceases to exist, it instead hints at the ability to release our ties to the concepts we learn and are so attached to. Additionally, don Juan reveals later in the novel, that it hinders Carlos to have everything explained to him: He said he was through explaining things to me because explaining only forced me to indulge (Castaneda, 255). Don Juan attempts to create a better environment for Carlos to see by removing the reinforcement, which before don Juan was willingly providing. The Marinere has an environment conducive for seeing on the ship. Though this circumstance may seem far from anything pleasant, the Marinere has the benefit of being fully removed from a culture and other people that would help to enforce the conceptualizations we have regarding the objects we share reality with. Being alone adds to this lack of reinforcement for the Marinere: Alone, alone, all all alone/ A lone on the wide wide Sea (IV, 224 225). He no longer a shares thoughts with his fellow crewmen. This removes him from the group mentality, which is a very strong factor within the crew even during their deaths: Each turned his face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Pros And Cons Of The Rational Choice Theory The Rational Choice Theory was developed in the late 18th century by Cesare Beccaria, it has been expanded to the modern theory which was developed by Noble Prize winner Gary Becker in 1969. In Mr. Becker s theory it states that Criminal behavior is not so different than non criminal behavior, in that it is conduct that persons intentionally choose to undertake (i.e. They are not compelled or forced to do crime), and the reason that they choose to commit the crime is that they think it is more rewarding and less costly for them than no criminal behavior 2.) • 30. Red Glass Character Analysis Throughout Red Glass, by Laura Resau, the characters have to overcome many changes. One character that changes dramatically is the main character, Sophie. At the beginning of the novel, Sophie is introduced as a sheltered girl, terrified of the outside world. Sophie experiences many things that influence her to become a young woman that is willing to sacrifice her safety for the people she loves. She is influenced mostly by the antagonist, Angel. Angel supports Sophie in ways that make her want to change herself. Sophie changes positively throughout the story into a strong, fearless person, and Angel s love for her is what makes her capable of that change. In the beginning, Sophie introduces herself in the story as a nerdy, outcasted teenage girl, I always thought of myself as a free floating one celled amoeba, minding my own business. The other kids at school were all parts of a larger organism. . . Not particularly noticed, definitely not appreciated, just an amoeba swimming around aimlessly (9). Sophie feels as if she does not belong where she grew up, she has always felt like she was on the outside. Her father, a drug dealer and felon, left her mother when she was first born. Because of her extreme self esteem issues, Sophie blames herself for her father leaving. • 32. My Reflection Of Skype Skype Reflection I will start by saying that our conversations with everyone over Skype has been my favorite thing I have had the pleasure to do since I have been in college. It was different, informative, intriguing, and easily the most interesting exchange I have ever had. I not only appreciate having been given the opportunity to be a part of this conversation, but feel fortunate to have taken part in learning about others and their way of life. After speaking with Chris Saunders and Panos and Stefania, I re read Hofstede s dimensions and felt I learned more and understood it better after speaking with them. I feel that I can read something repeatedly, but having a good example and seeing it first hand is the best learning experience I can have. To have a good take away from the book with an even better example was the best way to learn this subject. When speaking to Chris Saunders from Wales and England, I first noticed that he seemed as nervous as we did. He was able to answer our questions with great content and was really funny. I felt that he had a great amount of individuality and held true to his own beliefs. I also feel that Chris showed that he fits into the masculinity dimension as he is successful as a writer and driven as a teacher. Since he has moved around so much, he shows that he personally has a low uncertainty avoidance, as he can take risks and is less resistant to change. An example of this is he was able to move to China, not knowing much about the culture or the language and take the changes as they came at him. When it came to talking to Chris, I think what surprised me the most was that there is a gap between 16 and 18 from what we would call high school to college. In the United States kids wouldn t know what to do with themselves and I can t imagine what kind of trouble they would get into. It also surprised me that he has lived in so many places. He has had the opportunity to learn so about so many cultures and meet so many people and that is incredible. My impressions of Chris were that he is very intelligent and funny. He has a great sense of what he wants in life and is able to accomplish those goals. Because of his individuality he is able to make his own choices and do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the spread of communism, the U.S. had been involved in Nicaragua since 1912. The U.S. has acted as Big Brother and used military force when pro U.S. leaders were facing rebellion. Unfortunately in 1936 when the U.S. began training the Nicaraguan National Guard, there was a forceful takeover by a man named Somoza Garcia. The era of rule under the leadership and guidance of Garcia lasted for 43 years until a group known as the FSLN which stands for the Sandinista National Liberation Front was created which was essentially anti Somoza Garcia. Although this is the case, this individual can vary depending on the circumstances. The other could be a poor common man living in the slums of this very kingdom, planning to overthrow that very king. During this time period men were assumed to have more power than the women and were ahead of the household, but this seemed to be the opposite for this odd couple. Lady Macbeth seems to hold power over Macbeth even when she wasn t with him. This is evident when he looks to party with his wife once he finds out he is to be Thane of Cawdor. He even writes to her and immediately leaves the King to tell her the news he had just received. Upon hearing the news, we see that Lady Macbeth is already plotting the murder of Duncan and is more ruthless than Macbeth(Shakespeare, pg.317 318). Shakespeare even ties nature to Duncan s appending death by comparing him to a symbolic raven. In the text it states, The raven himself is hoarse(.)That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements. Come, you spirits(.) That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty ( Shakespeare, pg.318). Report to school every day,get a proper education. But that s not the case in all schools. Some students are not able to learn during the school day. They may get distracted by going off topic in class or get disturbed by what someone is wearing. If their freedom of speech is limited, students will actually be able to learn. Freedom of speech should have limits because it increases education time, it allows kids to prepare for the future, and it limits bullying and harassment. Firstly, freedom of speech should have limits because it increases education time. For example, students can lose up to 38 days a year due to disruptions in class and about 1 hour per day (Al.com). Teenagers report to school to get an education and learn for the future, they do not show up at school to talk to everyone the entire day. Due of talking, they lose class time and they do not get much done. If freedom of speech is limited students will be able to learn more. Also if another peer is wearing something that is very distracting, this will disrupt the class. For example, the Tinker v.s Des Moines Independent Community School District case was about students wearing armbands to support the Vietnam War. The appearance of the armband distracted their peers from their work. The school was able to discipline the students wearing the bands . ( Tinker v. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
