Nursing Position Statement Examples
A position statement from the American Nurses Association (ANA) under Ethics and Human rights
which I find interesting pertains the ANA s policy on Nursing Care and Do Not Resuscitate (DNR)
and Allow Natural Death (AND) Decisions. I consider myself a baby nurse with only four years of
experience. My nursing career to date has been in the medical intensive care area in my hospital. The
hospital I work for has three different ICU s. The unit I work for specifically deals with the sickest of
the sick we care for everything except traumas, strokes, and open hearts. Most of our patients have
multiple comorbidities, terminal illnesses, and are noncompliant. In my short tenure I have had many
DNR conversations with patients and family members. I cannot stress enough the importance of
communication with both the patient and family members during this critical time. We as nurses have
to remember, we our patients advocates and if and when they can no longer make decisions for
themselves we must be their voices and help to see their wishes are met. A study by White, Engelberg,
Wenrich, Lo, and Randall (2007) was designed to discover the content of physicians prognostic
reports to family members of ICU patients. Results indicated families with low literacy rates received
less information about potential treatment outcomes and thus may have been more likely to ... Show

Is Hip Hop Music Beneficial To Young Listeners
Is Hip Hop Music Beneficial to young listeners? Give me a human s thoughts, heart, and brain and be
amazed, their thoughts and their heart beats have been brain washed by music. Music artist and poets
will look at the last sentence with deeper meaning, while others believe it s a mere sentence. To me
music is organized and controlled noise. Imagine rock music with too much or too little volume
control. Now with eyes closed think about being in nature with rain drops falling, birds chirping, and
insects buzzing, within this natural environment it sounds nice. Even if it is a tornado ripping through
a town, people are still in awe of its power. This same beauty and power is what makes Hip Hop
controversial. So what is Hip Hop? Are there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this is the case why do we need to add more violence to the world let alone youth s education with
the influence of Hip Hop? School hallways are flooded with bullies/bullied and it is possible to say
Hip Hop has contributed to it. Let s be honest many students don t like school and some students aren
t attentive as they should be. However, when accompanied with the dislike of school and the negative
message hip hop sends, youth can feel as if they could be the next College Drop Out like Kanye West;

words spewed from my mouth. At one time, I was talking about how I was going to kill someone. I
just didn t care about life. It was if I was having an outer body experience telling myself to stop saying
or doing what I was doing but couldn t. With that said, researchers Assal Habibi and Antonio Damasio

accompanied by physiological and behavioral changes (93). Looking back, I now realize this was due
to me being bullied, I was hurting and wanted others to hurt

Honey Bees And Its Effects On Bees
Bees are a vital source to most of the daily products that we use today. From the food we eat, to the
trees outside. Without them, there will be no greenery or some of our favorite foods. That is why it is
necessary to protect their well being. Therefore multiple solutions have been recommended to
preserve their existence, in healthy and efficient environments.
Recently, studies are showing a dramatic decrease of the bee population. As a result, there have been
fewer instances of the great pollination process performed by the bees, therefore affecting the food and
produce whose growth process are dependant on the bees. Honey bees originally came from Europe,
but the problem of the decreasing population became known after Pollination Week declared by the
senate and governors on June 22nd. The reasoning behind the lack of bees on agriculture farms, is due
to the harmful pesticide spray. Denied access to neonics, farmers will inevitably revert to spraying
their fields either from the ground or by plane with older and more dangerous insecticides (Rodgers
Media 6). Furthermore, because there are fewer pollinators, the food they help flourish have become a
worry to researchers. The world would be a desolate place without our pollinating friends, devoid of
flowers, flowering plants and many of our favorite foods (Hannon Gerald 9). Implies the importance
of the bees handiwork in the production of the produce that we eat. Although it is costly in order to
transport the

Benjamin Franklin And His Conversation, Poor Richard s...
In Benjamin Franklin s publication, Poor Richard s Almanac, he is directing his almanac towards the
common people. Franklin took pleasure into creating his almanacs which led him into a wealthy
direction. In Document 1, Franking states in his almanac While thou art putting Pence in my Pocket,
and furnishing my Cottage with Necessaries, Poor Dick is not unmindful to do something for thy
Benefit. Franklin proclaims his view on human nature by indicating that he gets his wealthy from the
numerous amount of people purchasing his almanac. In addition, he subtly describes human nature by
making jokes throughout his almanac to keep the audience attentive. However, Franklin s almanac is
slightly different from Whitefield and Edwards due to the fact that he does not emphasize religious
beliefs nearly as much as the other two authors but gives practical advice. With that being said,
Franklin s main motive was to keeps his readers interested with the anticipation of getting profit. ...

In Document 2, Whitefield states in his sermon I pray you therefore be gold with your Father, saying,
Abba, Father, Satan troubles me, the world troubles me, my own mother s children are angry with me;

by being optimistic and giving hope to his readers. In addition, Whitefield wants his readers to have a
strong one on one relationship with God. Furthermore, Whitefield s sermon is similar to Franklin s
almanac due to the fact that both authors provide advice to their readers and they are informal
readings. Moreover, Whitefield s sermon is similar to Edwards in regards to God and religion.

Endocrine Disruptors Research Paper
Most individuals are not aware of the things that are bad for the body until a noticeable reaction
occurs. With this in mind, endocrine disrupting chemicals are chemicals that interfere with our
endocrine system causing a problem. Therefore, in this paper, I plan to inform you about three
endocrine disruptors that are bad for the human body known as flame retardants, phytoestrogens and
triclosan. I will contain information about the chemicals found, products that they are located in and
the effect they have on animal and human tissue. Next, I will show a relationship between
endocrinology and endocrine disrupting chemicals on affecting homeostasis and discuss my reaction
to the information I learned and how I feel about it overall. Flame

Summary Of Bless The Lord, O My Soul Essay
present. As our Father, we know that you are more ready to hear than we are willing to pray.
Grant us the grace to learn to trust you more in the midst of this terrible ordeal. You who know our
needs before we asked for it, give us from now, on your grace, so that we moved back in front of the
mystery of death, to see the light of eternity. Once again, teach us that death is a bridge towards the
happy eternity. Help us to live as those who are ready to die, and allow us, at the time of breathing our
last, to have the assurance that we go directly to you, so that nothing in life or in death will separate us
from your great love in Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
Scripture Readings
The congregation is requested to stand up.

The Criminal Justice System Is Fair And True
Most people in America believe that our criminal justice system is fair and true. The idea that any free
citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false.
Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions, eyewitness
misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels, messy police
investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justice system is based on the concept that
every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders, but with all the
faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of the time this is
when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is when innocent
defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants are forced to go as
far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prison sentences. The Number of wrongly
convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state agency keeps track of
exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and books fairly describe
wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions resulted in formal
exonerations. In some of these cases, prosecutors insisted that the original verdict was accurate despite
strong new evidence of factual innocence, further clouding an understanding of wrongful

Snowfall On Mars
Mars has been a planet scientists have been interested in for many reasons, for many years. In Mars
has nighttime snow storms , Ashley Yeager furthers her studies on Mars by focusing on the possibility
of night time snow on Mars. Yeager explains how snowfall on Mars could even occur through
scientific evidence.
Yeager states that satellites showed that snow covered the Martian poles in 2008 and
NASA s Pheonix lander detected snow falling below a nighttime water ice cloud in 2008. This also
being the first time scientist have seen snowfall on Mars. According to Eager in the beginning scientist
had believed that snowfall occurred the same way it did on Earth; however, the gravity and water
vapor on Mars compared to Earth doesn t match up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their findings showed that fast falling snow could occur on cold nights. Unlike on Earth when water
ice particles grow into the snow and then fall, low temperature cool water ice clouds, creating strong
winds that push water ice crystals toward the ground, creating fast falling snow.
Yeager had a clear objective and enough evidence to back up her findings, while also leaving room for
scientists to continue researching. Each statement was backed up with enough scientific evidence for a
reader to understand the purpose of the article. For example, she broke down how the snow being able
to fall at the same speed it does on Earth, through another scientist research. There was no quantitative
or qualitative data because all the data was research based and no need for statistical analysis. I don t
believe Yeager could ve done anything else to make this article better. She provided enough
information to support her objective while still allowing the research to continue for other scientists. A
reader who came across would have to do further research on how snowfall could occur on Mars
unless they wanted a deeper explanation. The use of the internet was helpful since that is how I found

War on Terrorism
The War On Terrorism Every morning, millions of people around the world begin their day by reading
the newspaper. News topics are constantly discussed in everyday life and remain the dominant topic of
conversation between friends, family, and even strangers. It is our responsibility as a modern society
to recognize all events that impact our lives and make others aware of them, and newspapers as well
as the general media allow us this opportunity. The New York Times, a worldwide newspaper, offers
us a chance to become informed of worldwide current events while also offering insight into the
development of society as seen through the eyes of the media. Through developing an archive of New

proves to be a beneficial tool in linking the people of the world together. Through reading the
newspaper one realizes what is going on all over the world and how it affects them and those they care
about. The newspaper keeps us aware of human development while entertaining us at the same time.

The Company That I Have Decided To Research Is Barnes
The company that I have decided to research is Barnes Noble.
Throughout this past decade Globalization and technology have drastically impacted the sales of
Barnes Noble. In the recent past Barnes and Noble was faced with its biggest challenge it has faced in
its history, trying to keep up with Amazon s fire tablet. This was definitely a new challenge because
unlike Barnes and Nobles past competitors such as Borders book store they were now in current
competition with a specific product of a company. The Amazon tablet was like nothing consumers had
seen before.
Amazon had managed to produce a tablet that was able to make hundreds of thousands of books

Even if you do read enough to take advantage of Kindle Unlimited, be aware that you don t get to
choose any book in Amazon s vast library. Five major publishers Simon Schuster, HarperCollins,
Hachette, MacMillan and Penguin have all opted out of the plan. That means you won t be reading
much Steven King or Dan Brown on Kindle Unlimited, nor can you read Brad Thor s Act of War, the
book currently sitting atop the New York Times bestseller list. Johnson, D. (2014, July 23). Barnes and
Noble will have to get these book authors to agree to allow them to release their titles to consumers
who are willing to pay Barnes and Noble for a monthly subscription to go along with their new tablet
purchase.
While implementing the industrial organization model I would also put into place the resource based
model. Barnes and Nobel needs to retrace their steps and realize why they were so popular and
profitable from the beginning. I would make it a point to change the company s internal atmosphere
and make sure it targets customers who know what they want and don t know what they want. People
who currently own Amazon s Tablet only have the option to purchase written books or magazines,
however when customers come into a Barnes and Noble store, they have a variety of options to
browse over from books, to games, to music Toys and games, a small but increasingly

Stereotypes In American Beauty
The film I will be analyzing is American Beauty written by Alan Ball. I will be discussing the
representation of men and the male body. This late 90 s narrative structure film American Beauty
narrates the changes in gender roles and how they have impacted society in contrast to the traditional
male bread winners and female homemakers of past times. The characters in this film are defined
through their sexuality in the roles they play. This film also relates to the theme of identity and
explores the expectations society has placed on stereotypes in how we function and how we identify
ourselves.
From the beginning of this film one can immediately see who wears the pants in the family. Lester
Burnham, a magazine writer who despises his job is frustrated with his marriage and has little sexual
contact with his wife Carolyn. Although, Lester is a male he portrays a traditional submissive female
role in this film. Carolyn, an ambitious real estate broker, who is also discontented with her their
marriage is having an affair with another realtor. She takes on a more male dominating role in the
family. In this active role, Carolyn becomes the strong central female character, assuming
untraditional masculine roles where men have been considered more active in earlier decades.

out to attract her attention, but Jane is actually interested in Ricky, the Burnham s new neighbor who

The Arguments In Albert Einstein s Solvay Conference
Albert Einstein was one of the many incredible scientists that went to the Solvay Conference. In 1927,
scientists from all around the world came to present their arguments against each other at the Solvay
Conference in Brussels. A few couple of scientists in particular, one being Albert Einstein and the
other being Niels Bohr, continued to present arguments and counterarguments against each other to
prove who s theory made the most sense. As much as Einstein fought, Bohr just kept fighting back.
Bohr came up with every counterargument possible and even brought up Einstein s Theory of
Relativity and used it against him. At the end of the day, Niels Bohr had won against Einstein. Niels
Bohr was another large piece of the Solvay Conference in 1927. He and Einstein were the stars of the
show, as they both battled to prove their theories. Niels Bohr s theory was about Quantum Mechanics .
Even today we still use this theory. The teachers teach this to the students, and it is the best theory that
we know about. The theory is that we use different orbitals where the electrons will travel around the
atom. The different orbitals mean the different energy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One scientist that helped was Werner Heisenberg. Heisenberg worked very closely with Bohr, sort of
like an assistant. They both worked on the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics.
Heisenberg developed the uncertainty principle, which set the limits to the position and speed

hero to quantum mechanics, as he did an incredible amount of work on the mathematics part of it. He
discovered that the Schrodinger wave equation would be used to predict where the particle would be.
The Copenhagen view thought up by these many scientists would be later known as the standard that

The Advantages Of A Monolingual And Bilingual Brain
Introduction In today s generation many of the children in Asia are bilingual with English as their first
language and their native language as their second. Being a bilingual comes along with various
advantages in today s world. There are several advantages a bilingual has over their monolingual
counter part. One of the advantages bilinguals have is better cognitive flexibility compared to
monolinguals. Cognitive flexibility is the ability to restructure knowledge in multiple ways depending
on the changing situational demands (Spiro, 1995). A study conducted at Annals of Neurology,
suggests that a bilingual brain can stay sharper at an older age, compared to monolinguals. The
participants were first language English speakers who had previously taken an intelligence test at the
age of 11, the same participants were then asked to re take the test during their early 70 s. Researchers
found that participants who spoke multiple languages (bilinguals) achieved a higher score than
participants who spoke a single language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the BRAINGLOT group believes that Spain is the ideal place to conduct such research due to the high
number of both bilinguals and monolinguals available. There are individuals who speak two languages

which allowed the researches to examine all three types of

because it was different from Western medicine. Chinese medicine is over two thousand years old and

Water Pollution In Water
The topic that was chosen was turbidity. Turbidity is the pollution in water. Turbidity is commonly
associated with cloudiness or haziness in water. The pollution that studied was dirt and how it affected
fish. It is important because it is killing our wildlife. There needs to get teams of people each month
going out and cleaning up the water. If the dirt in the water affected the fish then the experimental
group would die. During the time of researching this topic, it was discovered how different this world
has changed, the types of creatures have been affected by pollution.
Too much caffeine can affect sleep. Too much algae or sediment in lakes/ streams can make them
unlivable for aquatic life.Turbidity is caused by particles suspended or dissolved in water that scatter
light making the water appear cloudy or murky.Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid
caused by large numbers of individual particles that are generally invisible to the naked eye, similar to
smoke in air.
In this project, dirt had been used to change the conditions of the environment and see how these fish
would react. During which there was an opposite tank with normal water, a filter and 5 fish. The other
tank had been used with a container, dirt, and five fish as well.
During this projects it was tested to see how each fish would react to the water. Most of the fish in the
dirty water have died, all but 2. More of the fish died in this tank then the normal water tank.

Self Management In Nursing
Every year approximately 795,000 people in United States are diagnosed with stroke. Stroke is one of
the leading causes of severe long term disability in the US (American Stroke Association [ASA],

(Mozaffarian et al., 2015). Integration of self management by healthcare systems into the discharge
teaching and its promotion during rehabilitation period is an important step in the management of long

the availability of the related programs could be a beneficial recourse to the patents being discharged

How Phobias Affect People And How Can Overcome Their Phobia
Purpose: At the end of my speech, the audience will know how phobias affect people and how to
overcome their phobia.
I. Introduction
a. Imagine being so afraid of something that you try everything in your power to avoid it. For
example, someone who fears spiders is not going to walk that trail that leads into a wooded area and
you can almost guarantee that the person who isn t too fond of heights isn t going to walk across that
tall bridge. If you ask these people why they won t partake in these activates, they would probably
respond with I don t want to or I m afraid to . Sure most, if not all, of us are afraid of something. I m
not thrilled to be standing up in front of everyone giving a speech, but here I stand.
b. If your fear prevents you from doing certain activates, then it isn t just a fear, it is actually a phobia.
In 2013, Patterson wrote that, A phobia is described as a chronic and extreme fear of an object or
situation out of proportion to the danger actually presented by the feared thing. (p. 58).
c. I find this description to be most accurate because I, at one point in my life, had a phobia. The
phobia I had is called coasterphobia and if the name isn t a dead giveaway, it is the fear of
rollercoasters. At that time, you could have offered me five hundred dollars to get on a rollercoaster
and I would have turned it down without hesitation. It wasn t until about three years ago that I
overcame my phobia and now I absolutely love roller coasters.

Jessica Vs. Amber
Although people generate a separate profile for each individual they meet, sometimes the profiles are
incredibly different. In high school everyone befriends many persons of different races, personalities,
as well as social groups, yet we tend to befriend remarkably similar individuals. Rarely do we realize,
some people are actually more different than we know. Freshman year, I entered into a world all
different than what I was used to, but yet I made two amazing friends. Jessica and Amber both loved
school, friends, and doing art outside of school. Although between them are many differences, but a
few stand out from the others. College and work ethic, their personalities, and talents differ greatly.
Work and education bring forward some attributes in people that are extremely different from others.
Jessica and Amber are extremely different, especially in this way. Jessica loves to learn in general but

Service Management
Service Management Introduction It is considered that the most critical thing for a company is to
effectively and efficiently deliver the service to the customers. It does really matter which industry the
organization is operating in, the features of services have be taken very seriously and in addition to
that, customers have to be satisfied in order for the organization to grow. It has been argued by
numerous scholars that the primary need of the customers in the modern business world is to have a
good experience, along with added value to be served to them. It is important to note that regardless of

The concept of the service is considered to be the mutual understanding between the received nature
of the nature and the provided nature of the service by the organization. In addition to that, it should
also be able to summarize the information regarding the idea of the organization, the experience of the
service, the outcome of the service and the operation of the service as well as the value of the service
which is given below. When a customer goes out and generally considers the things around while
doing routine work, it is likely to be attracted by the experience that it receives with the service
provided by the organization. This is a motivating factor for the customer and is likely to attract the

Serial Killers in the World
Overview
In the 1980s serial killers were understood to be a new development, a phenomenon frequently
accredited to the excesses of American culture. It was a decade of change, one of freedom and great
music. It was also a decade that brought the shock and fear of serial killers. Today it seems as if all
societies have serial killers. People in today s society are left with questions such as: Who are they?
Why are they so different? Why do they commit such horrific crimes? There are many theories that
psychologists and sociologists have researched but found no definite answers. The Bureau of Justice
Statistics partnership with MINCAVA reported that, between 1976 and 1994 there were an estimated
405,089 murders in the United States. Of these, the circumstances surrounding the murder are known
in 317,925, or 78.5%. Among the cases with known circumstances, an estimated 4,807, or 1.5%, were
classified as involving rape or another sex offense (Greenfeld 1997). Though the vast majority of
violent sex offending involves males assaulting female victims, females account for a small
percentage of known offenders, and males account for a small percentage of victims (Greenfeld,
1997).
Serial killers are a disturbing piece of the puzzle of society that we must figure out to save the lives of
the public in the future. Although the term serial killer loosly means killing serveral people by
different means, there are those who are indeed survivors of these horrific acts and live to tell

Mormon Stereotypes
Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own burdens to bear.
As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established
religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social
media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated
certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the
public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Some of the
more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the main group are used
against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype.
History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph Smith, the
founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they initially called The Church of
Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to Palmyra,
New York in 1816 with his parents and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found themselves
confused and troubled by the opposing churches in the area. His family tried to associate themselves
with the Presbyterian Church for a time. Then his father shifted his interest to Methodism, but none of
the churches suited their needs. At the age of 14 Joseph found himself praying ... Show more content

The Purpose Of The Supernatural In Literary Works
The purpose of the supernatural in Literary Works The purpose of the supernatural in literature can
vary in function from story to story. The supernatural can be used to create a certain mood in writing
or to enhance the dramatic effect of a story. The supernatural can also be used as the reasoning behind
a story and act as the theme it centers on, creating a paranormal effect and a mystical experience for
the reader.
In human nature there exists a morbid desire to explore the darker side of life. As human beings we
make every effort to deny our curiosity in the things that frighten us, but deep down we secretly thrive
on that cool rush of fear. Despite our efforts to maintain a balance of our emotions, we are a society of
people who slow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This story again reinforces the severity of defying the supernatural, and the strong belief the puritans
held in the actuality of a figurative God and Devil. This story repercussions the idea that there is
nowhere to hide from these supernatural powers.
Poe uses the supernatural to create a fear and set a mood in his stories. They are dark and always seem
to have a surprise lurking around each turn. He reinforces the fear of an overpowering doom that
cannot be escaped. In the story, The Telltale Heart, the imagery of a heart beating beneath the
floorboards is riveting. You feel that the heart is really beating; it s not just the imagination of a
madman. The narration is done totally in the first person and never gives the sex of the person. The
narrator is described as the caretaker of an old man. This technique allows the reader to identify with
the narrator/murderer and assume the caretaker is the same sex as the reader. When women read the
Telltale Heart most feel the narrator is a woman, as most caretakers are women. When a man reads
this story he believes that the narrator is a man, for most murderers are men. Poe puts good against
evil through sharp contradictions in the story. The old man s deformed eye represents evil, yet the
narrator describes him as never wronging her or insulting her. The narrator insists she is not crazy, but
then commits

Frost At Midnight Analysis
In a conversation poem titled Frost at Midnight, romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge creates a
persona of himself who spends the duration of the poem having a one sided conversation with his
newly born baby. The narrator laments his own childhood, but finds solace in knowing that his baby
has potential for a better life than he, since the baby will have a nature centered upbringing. The
narrator contrasts constricted and expansive imagery, enumerated and enjambed sentences, and
alienated and familiar diction to underline the differences between his own childhood education,
which was spent studying books, and the childhood education he hopes his baby will have. The
narrator suggests that nature will offer his baby a childhood education superior to his own because
nature will teach the baby to be one with the world, allowing him to feel peace and serenity no matter
the circumstances. In this poem, the narrator opens up with a serene scene of a winter night or so it
seems. Although the narrator describes an externally cozy, peaceful scene, he unveils a discordant
heart, as suggested by the restless tone he uses. During this silent night, the narrator watches a piece of
soot flicker over the fire: Only that film, which fluttered on the grate, / Still flutters there, the sole
unquiet thing. Methinks, its motion in this hush of nature / Gives it dim sympathies with me who
lives, / Making it a companionable form (15 19). In other words, the narrator associates himself with

Analysis Of The Poem Radiohead
Radiohead, in a Motion Picture Soundtrack, tie together the negative effects of popularity and pop
culture. By leaving out the more optimistic view of fame, it prevents the sugar coating of details. This
technique, while dreary and glum, sets the perfect tone for the writer to reach the reader on subjects
not frequently talked about. Ironically, in order to shine light upon this topic, Radiohead creates as
gloomy and dark of an environment as possible to convey their ideas. Within the song itself there
exists a constant struggle of here they, the band, are, the negative side, and here is where they want to
be or where they belong, a hope for something positive. They also use this method to reiterate the idea
that fame is not so glorious. Instead, fame deceives other into yearning for something not there.
Radiohead hones in on this illusory view with the connection to suicide. Unfortunately, suicide is
often the easy way out of a hectic life specifically for music culture. In essence, Radiohead s song
demonstrates, through their experiences, that the media does not depict the complete picture of fame.
Overall, Motion Picture Soundtrack perfectly communicates this negative side of fame and how
oftentimes the only way out is death. In order to convey the horrors and monotony of fame, Radiohead
uses background music to paint a picture for the message, or lyrics, to live upon. Before the song
begins you can look at the title to understand that a Motion Picture Soundtrack, or

Equipped with razor sharp propeller and the ability to fly thousands of feet above the ground, drones
have caused problems in the past and still are a risk to the general health of the public. Authors Rocci
Luppicini and Arthur So write that safety (21.24%) and law and regulation (25.66%) are the most
frequently cited concerns in connection with commercial drone use. Once drones create the sense that
lives are threatened when they are operating within a society, the immediate concern is drone safety
(p. 111). Although not the biggest concern, safety is still thought to be one of the bigger problems in
regards to drones and it is a top priority that this issue is resolved. Firstly, it is not the case that drones
are just death traps flying over our heads and it is certainly not the case that they are just going to fall
on our heads; however, there are still many possible scenarios where drones can jeopardize our safety.
Companies like DJI and GoPro are constantly working on making their drones better and safer but
there is still room for human error and drones, like with all machines, can never be a hundred percent
safe. One concern with drone safety is that they often cause a nuisance for aircrafts and air traffic
controllers when the people operating the drones fly them too high. There have been several instances

Shall Earth No More Inspire Thee By Jon Krakauer
Long ago, people depended on nature for shelter, food, and survival. However, as time goes on, new
inventions develop, and society improved except nature which humans still depend on for survival.
Some people today think that nature is not important, or at least not as important as their phone or
computer. Humans understand that food comes from plants and animals and paper from trees, but they
do not reflect on how much they take from nature compared to the small actions they take to give
back. Emily Bronte s Shall Earth No More Inspire Thee , Jack London s To Build a Fire and Jon
Krakauer s Into The Wild all display the very weak relationship between man and nature because
humans no longer feel dependent on nature.
Emily Bronte s Shall Earth No More Inspire Thee illustrates man s weak connection with nature when
humans do not spend time to interact with nature. The speaker of the poem is nature because he or she
describes how it has powers of nature throughout the poem. When the speaker asks the reader to return
and dwell with [him or her] (Bronte l.28), it is nature asking humans to go and spend time with it. This

Loyalty In The Song Of Roland
The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors
one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society
and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a
great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the
Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown
author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of
knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as
a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s
knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he
sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a
proposed treaty. The warning he gives proves to be accurate, proving his intellect and great war
strategy abilities. Roland also honors the when he fought in his name against the Saracens saying We

Existentialism In Coates Between The World And Me
Although the fundamentals of existentialism can be applied to numerous works throughout history,
existentialist thought, which places emphasis on authenticity and the ability to control one s own
growth, largely rose to prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries. Notable among these works are
Voltaire s Candide, Simone de Beauvoir s The Second Sex, and Ta Nehisi Coates Between the World

Coates allegory of the Dreamers and their detrimental impact on the lives of African Americans in the
US is highlighted with this declaration: But do not pin your struggle on their conversion. The
Dreamers will have to learn to struggle themselves, to understand that the field for their Dream, the
stage where they have painted themselves white, is the deathbed of us all (151). Coates is essentially
claiming that the people who refuse to live in reality are subsequently robbing those who do because
they instill a sense of false hope and unrealistic expectations that make every injury inflicted upon the
African American community hurt even more. By extension, Coates is affirming that living in the
moment rather than always thinking about the future and how to make things better is the most
authentic route to happiness. Much of the misery in life derives from people in power abusing the
privileges society has granted them, and the exploitation of black people in American society has
solidified the idea that civilization breeds barbarism in Coates mind. This is further supported by
Coates assertion that, The enslaved were not bricks in your road, and their lives were not chapters in
your redemptive history. They were people turned to fuel for the American machine (70). This image
of black lives being chewed up and spit out by industrial America is visceral and jarring in that it
shows a complete failure on the civilization s part to protect and raise its citizens to a more prominent
status and improve their lives. To Coates, the ideas of patriotism and the Dream, or

to reveal the true picture of the Italian government, which is corrupted by the people who make and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Terrorism
Introduction: From the outset, the paper makes clarity of the key terms terrorism and media coverage.
According to Magstadt (2009:506) terrorism has been defined in many ways, but the most definitions
take into account several factors including violence s, the desire for publicity, political motive and
intimidation aimed at the civilian populations. Jerkins (n.d.) terrorism is the use or threatened use of
force designed to bring about political change . As depicted from the above definitions activities of
terrorism have gone through premeditation stage, implemented and more to be fulfilled. In 1983 the
world woke up to the breaking news that terrorists bombed the United States Embassy in Beirut and
killed 63 people. Other acts of terrorism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Magstadt observed social ills and said any comprehensive theory of terrorism in today s world must
take into account social context including dehumanizing effects of refugee camps or ghettos, youth
unemployment and Western intrusion and first colonization and now globalization. Somewhat today,
social ills are getting complex by the day, the Zimbabwean illegal migration to Botswana and South
Africa, the economic migrants from Middle East to Europe, unemployment, xenophobic attacks, the
ghettos in South Africa and political uprisings in the Arabic world. This environment is good enough
to breed terrorism and Botswana is not an exception to that and that should not come as a surprise
because members of the society are deeply frustrated by many governance issues. Not only the
socially frustrated, those getting richer tend to form terrorism sects too. Was not Osama Bin Laden
coming from a rich family and himself learned? Osama was the leader of the Islamic fundamentalist
group known as the al Qaeda rising from the Middle East. Magstadt (2009:514) Osama is the wealthy
Saudi mastermind behind a series of terrorist attacks on U.S. targets that culminated in the destruction
of the World Trade Centre. Other groups include the Abu Nidal Organization, Islamic Jihad, Hamas

India s Economic Impact On India Essay
As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the British
East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay, and
Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the time, had
kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to collapse and
many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal dynasty. In 1757, Robert
Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory over Indian defence forces
along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British East India Company was the
leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012).
Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these events
was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other countries in
Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how an English man by
the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to travel to India. The
industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its monopoly of factories that
they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods. What occurred after was a
struggle of power in 18th century India. The Mughal empire was declining in forces which gave the
British the power to take full control due to their large

Financing Of Financing And Financing
I. Introduction
Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing
depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The
indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the
government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing means
capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last several
centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial market.
Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial market thanks
to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an essential element not
only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic development, because the scope
of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of securities such as stocks and bonds.
To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system was
maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply for the
economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was opened in a
phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. Then, the Korean financial system started
to be transformed to one centered on the capital market as the opening of

Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis Essay
Did humankind prevent the start of an ice age during the Holocene? Discuss arguments for and against
the Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis.
The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning at the
end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a relatively warm
period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early Anthropogenic
Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the University of Virginia
which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gas emissions did not occur simply since
the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of years before this, closer to
the start of the Holocene. By which may have prevented the start of an ice age during this timescale.
However there are many views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is a clear
pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the industrial revolution
(1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and emitted into the atmosphere. As
a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s,
which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after the initiation of the Great
Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the Little Ice Age which occurred
during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the beginning of the Industrial revolution.
(Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between the increase of CO2 levels and human
activity. Although this is most certainly in more recent times, it still provides clear evidence to suggest
that Ruddiman was correct in his belief that human activity causes CO2 rise and therefore has the
potential to prevent the start of an ice

The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community
I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before
heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to
create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity,
I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity.
For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another
marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who
unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the
content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable
with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the
conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your
identity is encouraged and accepted by all.
From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to
integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or
in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships
with residents. For most college students, moving away to college is the first time they will be
separated from their parents. Given that you are now

Female Priests And The Gender Inequality Within The...
Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church
From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the
condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of
Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the thorn in the side of progressive ideas,
movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest
religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent of the world s population and a half of all
Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ( Catholic Desires for Change ). Catholicism is unique
among Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure
has remained almost unchanged since the time of the Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow
evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of
the solar system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei s crimes of
heresy, three centuries after the man s death (Cowell, 1992). As many western institutions begin to
diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female
participation in all positions of authority and significance. The Church s sedated progressivism has
never been more egregious than in the rapidly changing society of the last half century, with the
millennia old barriers of sexism rapidly

Anna Funder s Investigative Account Of The Traumas...
Anna Funder s investigative account of the traumas experienced during the totalitarian governance of
the GDR (German Democratic Republic), Stasiland, presents an historical account of life under the
communist regime and behind the Berlin Wall, an historical account which manifests in the personal
stories, descriptions of the remnants of the East German government. Funder presents interviews of
victims of the GDR to create a tangible account of the power held by the government. She further
conveys the historical importance of the former Stasi operatives to be powerful in presenting a
complete depiction of East German society. However, it is also through Funder s presentation of the
former East Germany to be permeated by its history that creates her powerful portrayal of East
Germany.
In Funder s depiction of personal reflections she affords the Stasi victims the ability to present a
powerful account of the GDR. By demonstrating the victims to have been inflicted with sustained
trauma, evidenced by Julia s apprehensive stance towards Funder when revealing her story by seeking
to rapidly depart asserting I ve... got a class , and leaving Funder to contemplate their conversation due
to an appointment she had forgotten. Such reservation when revealing her experiences with the Stasi is
indicative of the Julia s Stasi ordeal to continue to permeate her life. This further provides Funder with
a powerful foundation for her account by proving the Stasi intrusion on the victims to

Nursing Position Statement Examples A position statement from the American Nurses Association (ANA) under Ethics and Human rights which I find interesting pertains the ANA s policy on Nursing Care and Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) and Allow Natural Death (AND) Decisions. I consider myself a baby nurse with only four years of experience. My nursing career to date has been in the medical intensive care area in my hospital. The hospital I work for has three different ICU s. The unit I work for specifically deals with the sickest of the sick we care for everything except traumas, strokes, and open hearts. Most of our patients have multiple comorbidities, terminal illnesses, and are noncompliant. In my short tenure I have had many DNR conversations with patients and family members. I cannot stress enough the importance of communication with both the patient and family members during this critical time. We as nurses have to remember, we our patients advocates and if and when they can no longer make decisions for themselves we must be their voices and help to see their wishes are met. A study by White, Engelberg, Wenrich, Lo, and Randall (2007) was designed to discover the content of physicians prognostic reports to family members of ICU patients. • 4. Honey Bees And Its Effects On Bees Bees are a vital source to most of the daily products that we use today. From the food we eat, to the trees outside. Without them, there will be no greenery or some of our favorite foods. That is why it is necessary to protect their well being. Therefore multiple solutions have been recommended to preserve their existence, in healthy and efficient environments. Recently, studies are showing a dramatic decrease of the bee population. As a result, there have been fewer instances of the great pollination process performed by the bees, therefore affecting the food and produce whose growth process are dependant on the bees. Honey bees originally came from Europe, but the problem of the decreasing population became known after Pollination Week declared by the senate and governors on June 22nd. The reasoning behind the lack of bees on agriculture farms, is due to the harmful pesticide spray. Denied access to neonics, farmers will inevitably revert to spraying their fields either from the ground or by plane with older and more dangerous insecticides (Rodgers Media 6). Furthermore, because there are fewer pollinators, the food they help flourish have become a worry to researchers. The world would be a desolate place without our pollinating friends, devoid of flowers, flowering plants and many of our favorite foods (Hannon Gerald 9). Implies the importance of the bees handiwork in the production of the produce that we eat. Although it is costly in order to transport the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Franklin took pleasure into creating his almanacs which led him into a wealthy direction. In Document 1, Franking states in his almanac While thou art putting Pence in my Pocket, and furnishing my Cottage with Necessaries, Poor Dick is not unmindful to do something for thy Benefit. Franklin proclaims his view on human nature by indicating that he gets his wealthy from the numerous amount of people purchasing his almanac. In addition, he subtly describes human nature by making jokes throughout his almanac to keep the audience attentive. The idea that any free citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false. Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions, eyewitness misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels, messy police investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justice system is based on the concept that every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders, but with all the faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of the time this is when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is when innocent defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants are forced to go as far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prison sentences. The Number of wrongly convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state agency keeps track of exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and books fairly describe wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions resulted in formal exonerations. This late 90 s narrative structure film American Beauty narrates the changes in gender roles and how they have impacted society in contrast to the traditional male bread winners and female homemakers of past times. The characters in this film are defined through their sexuality in the roles they play. One of the advantages bilinguals have is better cognitive flexibility compared to monolinguals. Cognitive flexibility is the ability to restructure knowledge in multiple ways depending on the changing situational demands (Spiro, 1995). For example, someone who fears spiders is not going to walk that trail that leads into a wooded area and you can almost guarantee that the person who isn t too fond of heights isn t going to walk across that tall bridge. If your fear prevents you from doing certain activates, then it isn t just a fear, it is actually a phobia. In 2013, Patterson wrote that, A phobia is described as a chronic and extreme fear of an object or situation out of proportion to the danger actually presented by the feared thing. (p. 58). c. The phobia I had is called coasterphobia and if the name isn t a dead giveaway, it is the fear of rollercoasters. • 23. Serial Killers in the World Overview In the 1980s serial killers were understood to be a new development, a phenomenon frequently accredited to the excesses of American culture. It was a decade of change, one of freedom and great music. It was also a decade that brought the shock and fear of serial killers. Today it seems as if all societies have serial killers. People in today s society are left with questions such as: Who are they? Why are they so different? Why do they commit such horrific crimes? There are many theories that psychologists and sociologists have researched but found no definite answers. The Bureau of Justice Statistics partnership with MINCAVA reported that, between 1976 and 1994 there were an estimated 405,089 murders in the United States. Of these, the circumstances surrounding the murder are known in 317,925, or 78.5%. Among the cases with known circumstances, an estimated 4,807, or 1.5%, were classified as involving rape or another sex offense (Greenfeld 1997). Though the vast majority of violent sex offending involves males assaulting female victims, females account for a small percentage of known offenders, and males account for a small percentage of victims (Greenfeld, 1997). Serial killers are a disturbing piece of the puzzle of society that we must figure out to save the lives of the public in the future. • 25. Mormon Stereotypes Mormonism, the largest church to originate on American soil is not without its own burdens to bear. As one of the younger religions, one that strayed from the foundations of the other already established religions in the United States, it is often viewed with negativity and mockery. Modern day social media, television, news articles and movies often exploit Mormon beliefs. They twist and exaggerated certain facets of the Mormon way of life. This framing of their belief system by the media leads the public opinion toward viewing this representation as a true depiction of the Mormons. Some of the more extreme behaviors exhibited by members that have separated from the main group are used against the entire faith by the media, so in turn this extremist view has become a Mormon stereotype. History of Mormonism The Mormon faith dates back to the year 1830 when Joseph Smith, the founder along with 5 other men gathered together to form what they initially called The Church of Christ. This was later changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Moving to Palmyra, New York in 1816 with his parents and seven siblings, Joseph Smith and his family found themselves confused and troubled by the opposing churches in the area. The supernatural can be used to create a certain mood in writing or to enhance the dramatic effect of a story. The supernatural can also be used as the reasoning behind a story and act as the theme it centers on, creating a paranormal effect and a mystical experience for the reader. In human nature there exists a morbid desire to explore the darker side of life. They are dark and always seem to have a surprise lurking around each turn. He reinforces the fear of an overpowering doom that cannot be escaped. In the story, The Telltale Heart, the imagery of a heart beating beneath the floorboards is riveting. You feel that the heart is really beating; it s not just the imagination of a madman. The narration is done totally in the first person and never gives the sex of the person. The narrator is described as the caretaker of an old man. This technique allows the reader to identify with the narrator/murderer and assume the caretaker is the same sex as the reader. When women read the Telltale Heart most feel the narrator is a woman, as most caretakers are women. When a man reads this story he believes that the narrator is a man, for most murderers are men. • 27. Frost At Midnight Analysis In a conversation poem titled Frost at Midnight, romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge creates a persona of himself who spends the duration of the poem having a one sided conversation with his newly born baby. The narrator laments his own childhood, but finds solace in knowing that his baby has potential for a better life than he, since the baby will have a nature centered upbringing. The narrator contrasts constricted and expansive imagery, enumerated and enjambed sentences, and alienated and familiar diction to underline the differences between his own childhood education, which was spent studying books, and the childhood education he hopes his baby will have. The narrator suggests that nature will offer his baby a childhood education superior to his own because nature will teach the baby to be one with the world, allowing him to feel peace and serenity no matter the circumstances. In this poem, the narrator opens up with a serene scene of a winter night or so it seems. Although the narrator describes an externally cozy, peaceful scene, he unveils a discordant heart, as suggested by the restless tone he uses. During this silent night, the narrator watches a piece of soot flicker over the fire: Only that film, which fluttered on the grate, / Still flutters there, the sole unquiet thing. Methinks, its motion in this hush of nature / Gives it dim sympathies with me who lives, / Making it a companionable form (15 19). In other words, the narrator associates himself with ... • 30. Analysis Of The Poem Radiohead Radiohead, in a Motion Picture Soundtrack, tie together the negative effects of popularity and pop culture. By leaving out the more optimistic view of fame, it prevents the sugar coating of details. This technique, while dreary and glum, sets the perfect tone for the writer to reach the reader on subjects not frequently talked about. Ironically, in order to shine light upon this topic, Radiohead creates as gloomy and dark of an environment as possible to convey their ideas. Within the song itself there exists a constant struggle of here they, the band, are, the negative side, and here is where they want to be or where they belong, a hope for something positive. They also use this method to reiterate the idea that fame is not so glorious. Instead, fame deceives other into yearning for something not there. Radiohead hones in on this illusory view with the connection to suicide. Unfortunately, suicide is often the easy way out of a hectic life specifically for music culture. In essence, Radiohead s song demonstrates, through their experiences, that the media does not depict the complete picture of fame. Overall, Motion Picture Soundtrack perfectly communicates this negative side of fame and how oftentimes the only way out is death. Once drones create the sense that lives are threatened when they are operating within a society, the immediate concern is drone safety (p. 111). Although not the biggest concern, safety is still thought to be one of the bigger problems in regards to drones and it is a top priority that this issue is resolved. Firstly, it is not the case that drones are just death traps flying over our heads and it is certainly not the case that they are just going to fall on our heads; however, there are still many possible scenarios where drones can jeopardize our safety. Companies like DJI and GoPro are constantly working on making their drones better and safer but there is still room for human error and drones, like with all machines, can never be a hundred percent safe. However, as time goes on, new inventions develop, and society improved except nature which humans still depend on for survival. Some people today think that nature is not important, or at least not as important as their phone or computer. Humans understand that food comes from plants and animals and paper from trees, but they do not reflect on how much they take from nature compared to the small actions they take to give back. Emily Bronte s Shall Earth No More Inspire Thee , Jack London s To Build a Fire and Jon Krakauer s Into The Wild all display the very weak relationship between man and nature because humans no longer feel dependent on nature. Emily Bronte s Shall Earth No More Inspire Thee illustrates man s weak connection with nature when humans do not spend time to interact with nature. The speaker of the poem is nature because he or she describes how it has powers of nature throughout the poem. Coates is essentially claiming that the people who refuse to live in reality are subsequently robbing those who do because they instill a sense of false hope and unrealistic expectations that make every injury inflicted upon the African American community hurt even more. By extension, Coates is affirming that living in the moment rather than always thinking about the future and how to make things better is the most authentic route to happiness. According to Magstadt (2009:506) terrorism has been defined in many ways, but the most definitions take into account several factors including violence s, the desire for publicity, political motive and intimidation aimed at the civilian populations. Jerkins (n.d.) terrorism is the use or threatened use of force designed to bring about political change . As depicted from the above definitions activities of terrorism have gone through premeditation stage, implemented and more to be fulfilled. In 1983 the world woke up to the breaking news that terrorists bombed the United States Embassy in Beirut and killed 63 people. Other acts of terrorism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magstadt observed social ills and said any comprehensive theory of terrorism in today s world must take into account social context including dehumanizing effects of refugee camps or ghettos, youth unemployment and Western intrusion and first colonization and now globalization. Somewhat today, social ills are getting complex by the day, the Zimbabwean illegal migration to Botswana and South Africa, the economic migrants from Middle East to Europe, unemployment, xenophobic attacks, the ghettos in South Africa and political uprisings in the Arabic world. This environment is good enough to breed terrorism and Botswana is not an exception to that and that should not come as a surprise because members of the society are deeply frustrated by many governance issues. Not only the socially frustrated, those getting richer tend to form terrorism sects too. Was not Osama Bin Laden coming from a rich family and himself learned? Osama was the leader of the Islamic fundamentalist group known as the al Qaeda rising from the Middle East. Magstadt (2009:514) Osama is the wealthy Saudi mastermind behind a series of terrorist attacks on U.S. targets that culminated in the destruction of the World Trade Centre. • 43. India s Economic Impact On India Essay As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the British East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay, and Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the time, had kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to collapse and many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal dynasty. In 1757, Robert Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory over Indian defence forces along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British East India Company was the leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012). Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these events was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other countries in Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how an English man by the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to travel to India. The industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its monopoly of factories that they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods. What occurred after was a struggle of power in 18th century India. The Mughal empire was declining in forces which gave the British the power to take full control due to their large ... • 44. Financing Of Financing And Financing I. Introduction Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing means capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last several centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial market. Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial market thanks to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an essential element not only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic development, because the scope of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of securities such as stocks and bonds. To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system was maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply for the economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was opened in a phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. Then, the Korean financial system started to be transformed to one centered on the capital market as the opening of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis Essay Did humankind prevent the start of an ice age during the Holocene? Discuss arguments for and against the Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis. The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning at the end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a relatively warm period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the University of Virginia which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gas emissions did not occur simply since the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of years before this, closer to the start of the Holocene. By which may have prevented the start of an ice age during this timescale. However there are many views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is a clear pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the industrial revolution (1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and emitted into the atmosphere. As a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s, which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after the initiation of the Great Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the Little Ice Age which occurred during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the beginning of the Industrial revolution. (Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between the increase of CO2 levels and human activity. Although this is most certainly in more recent times, it still provides clear evidence to suggest that Ruddiman was correct in his belief that human activity causes CO2 rise and therefore has the potential to prevent the start of an ice ... • 46. The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity, I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity. For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your identity is encouraged and accepted by all. From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships with residents. For most college students, moving away to college is the first time they will be separated from their parents. Given that you are now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Female Priests And The Gender Inequality Within The... Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the thorn in the side of progressive ideas, movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent of the world s population and a half of all Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ( Catholic Desires for Change ). Catholicism is unique among Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure has remained almost unchanged since the time of the Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of the solar system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei s crimes of heresy, three centuries after the man s death (Cowell, 1992). As many western institutions begin to diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female participation in all positions of authority and significance. The Church s sedated progressivism has never been more egregious than in the rapidly changing society of the last half century, with the millennia old barriers of sexism rapidly ... • 49. Anna Funder s Investigative Account Of The Traumas... Anna Funder s investigative account of the traumas experienced during the totalitarian governance of the GDR (German Democratic Republic), Stasiland, presents an historical account of life under the communist regime and behind the Berlin Wall, an historical account which manifests in the personal stories, descriptions of the remnants of the East German government. Funder presents interviews of victims of the GDR to create a tangible account of the power held by the government. She further conveys the historical importance of the former Stasi operatives to be powerful in presenting a complete depiction of East German society. However, it is also through Funder s presentation of the former East Germany to be permeated by its history that creates her powerful portrayal of East Germany. In Funder s depiction of personal reflections she affords the Stasi victims the ability to present a powerful account of the GDR. By demonstrating the victims to have been inflicted with sustained trauma, evidenced by Julia s apprehensive stance towards Funder when revealing her story by seeking to rapidly depart asserting I ve... got a class , and leaving Funder to contemplate their conversation due to an appointment she had forgotten. Such reservation when revealing her experiences with the Stasi is indicative of the Julia s Stasi ordeal to continue to permeate her life.
