The Role Of Women In Japan
The role of women in Japan has been influenced by the many changes that the country has integrated
over the years. In the past, women were full time housewives. They would work until marriage, and
then retire to take care of their household, as men were seen as the sole breadwinners of the house.
There are a large number of behavioral expectations for women, like cleanliness, modesty, courtesy
and much more. Japanese women were expected to take care of the personal appearance, their homes,
and attend to guests by preparing food or tea. In ancient Japan, women were given the smallest roles
in society. Women in Japan were not able to divorce their husbands , however, husbands were able to
divorce their wives if they felt that they were not fulfilling their duties. Though, a great deal has
changed in Japan after World War II. Japanese people s attitude toward divorce had changed as much
as their attitude toward marriage. New laws had been placed and with the western influence, people
became more open minded. According to Yoko Tokuhiro, it is common to find that Japanese women
delay marriage until later to experience life more before settling down. Women even work after
marriage or childbirth and some even choose to become career women (Marriage in Contemporary
Japan, 44). Women now have the right to own properties, vote and work. Japan continues to adopt
western culture, and as a result, women now have a larger role in society.

Common Traits And Characteristics Of Psychopaths
Area of Interest:
Common Traits and Characteristics of Psychopaths.
Research Questions:
1. What is the definition of a psychopath?
2. What is it about psychopaths that fascinate us?
3. Are there certain traits that make victims vulnerable to psychopathic manipulation?
4. What are some of the common traits of psychopaths?
Problem Statement:
Psychopaths are the group of people who kill over a longer period of time without being caught or
stopped. Unlike mass murderers, who may kill many people at one time, psychopaths usually have
reasons for killing, they will plan out where, when, why and how before they actually kill. Many enjoy
cannibalism, necrophilia, and like to keep the body parts as trophies. There violent behavior is usually

The research was obtained from limited sources which entailed internet searches and articles. The
information was gathered from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and college professors.
Hypothesis(ses):
1. If psychopathy is detected at a young age by a test given to the individual by a professional then it
is less likely for them to commit a crime in the future.
2. After being diagnosed with this personality disorder the individual can undergo treatment and
prevent future crimes.
Research Methodology:
The term psychopathy refers to a personality disorder that includes a cluster of interpersonal, affective,
lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors. These involve deception; manipulation; irresponsibility;
impulsivity; stimulations seeking; poor behavior controls; shallow affect; lack of empathy, guilt, or
remorse; sexual promiscuity; callous disregard for the rights of others; and unethical and antisocial
behaviors (Babiak, et al. 2012).
A psychopath does not internalize their feelings of anxiety and guilt or fail to experience them
appropriately; instead, he lacks the fundamental understanding of what these things are. A psychopath
will try to insert himself into a crime scene, but wouldn t feel panic, shock, or horror unlike how the
other onlookers would feel. His interest would fall more on the reactions of the victims and of the
crowd. Despite this emotional deficiency, most psychopaths learn to mimic the appearance of normal
emotion well enough to

At the staff employee level there are two ways to evaluate performance. Productivity is established
within the departments and is analyzed routinely. Quality assurance (QA) is a method that is used to
monitor the quality of work being processed. Productivity and QA are done in each department and
the methods used are contingent upon the department s processes. As a manger or team lead their
performance is evaluated on the departments goals. Each department will determine and be provided
with goals for the upcoming year. These goals evaluate the performance of the department s key tasks.
For example, we have a goal of posting all cash and wires that comes in for the current month before
accountings end of the month (which is the 4th day of the following month). At the director level there
may be several departments or just one under their responsibility. The director is evaluated on his or
her ability to achieve their department goals and meet their executive officers formal expectations.
The executive team is evaluated by HCA division. We have goals that encompass the entire Tampa
Bay Shared Service Center. For example, one goal is a specific amount of cash collected for the year.
This is measured monthly and discussed routinely in our town hall meetings (Parallon: Tampa Patient

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Taking A Gap Year
The paper throws some light on the history of the gap year and how the concept of gap year came into
existence. The advantages and disadvantages of taking a gap year have also been discussed and it has
been established that the output of a gap year differs for every person. This is because every person
goes through a different experience. Some light on the gap year industry has also been shed and it has
been established that the gap year industry needs to be regulated. Considering the increasing
popularity of gap years, it has been concluded that a gap year must be well planned in order to have
the most fruitful results and effectively use the time during the gap year

Introduction
A gap year can be broadly defined as taking a year off from formal education / work such as after
graduating high school and before going to a university / college. Just like every other thing in the
world, different people have different views about taking a gap year. According to some people, a gap
year is a good option and it is good to have a year off, while others disagree with taking a gap year.
The truth is that a gap year can prove to be beneficial or useless depending on the person and the
situation. A lot of studies have been conducted so far regarding the advantages and disadvantages of

In the Pixar film, Up, one of the main characters is the grandpa. His name is Mr. Fredricksen. He is a
stubborn old man and is even more stubborn/mean since his wife passed away. He decides to live one
of his life long dreams and ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the South
American wilderness. But Mr. Fredricksen s worse nightmare comes true. Another main character,
Russell, is aboard his house and is flying with him. Russell spends the rest of the movie slowly getting
to know Mr. Fredricksen peeling one layer of his stubbornness at a time. He shows that older people
may be mean/stubborn for a reason and not older adult is stubborn. 2.) a) This movie sets the younger

Maternal Bond in Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay
Maternal Bond in Toni Morrison s Beloved
The maternal bond between mother and kin is valued and important in all cultures. Mothers and
children are linked together and joined: physically, by womb and breast; and emotionally, by a sense
of self and possession. Once that bond is established, a mother will do anything for her child. In the
novel Beloved, the author, Toni Morrison, describes a woman, Sethe, who s bond is so strong she goes
to great lengths to keep her children safe and protected from the evil that she knows. She gave them
the gift of life, then, adding to that, the joy of freedom. Determined to shield them from the hell of
slavery, she took drastic measures to keep them from that life. But, in doing so, the ... Show more

Knowing the value of this rarity, Sethe was extremely attached to her children, and refused to lose
them, lest she lose herself. The link between mother and child, then, is an important underlying theme
throughout Beloved, and one with which Sethe became obsessed.
Sethe learned the value of motherhood from an early age. Not wanting the children of the white men
that raped her, Sethe?s mother, Ma?am (as she is called in the book), threw all the unwanted children
away. But, Sethe?s father was a black man whom Ma?am loved, and so she kept Sethe. Recalling the
story, Sethe thinks back on what Nan (the woman who knew Sethe?s mother and raised Sethe, herself)
said, ?She threw them all away but you. The one from the crew she threw away on the island. The
others from more whites she also threw away. Without names, she threw them. You she gave the name
of the black man? (Morrison, 62). Thus having an identity because of her mother, ?Sethe learns Ma?
am?s history and grounds her personality in motherly love? (Kubitcheck 123). Kubitcheck also says, ?
mother love offers the strongest defense against slavery. When Nan tells Sethe that her Ma?am chose
to conceive and bear her, Sethe acquires the base on which to build feelings of self worth? (135). She
could also identify with her mother by the mark branded below Ma?am?s

Environmentalism In Pope Francis
Pope Francis describes a relentless exploitation and destruction towards environmental discomfort, for
which he blamed apathy from the pursuit of profitable faith in political as well as technological
injustice. The Laudato Si unambiguously accepts scientific causes that impacts the climate that were
beneficially man made, stating climate change is a global problem with grave implications:
environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods . Representing one of the
principals that challenges humanity. After great anticipation, Pope Francis determined and faced the
difficulties of climate change and pleaded for justice, to enter into dialogue with all people about our
common home. The Pope reaches for new conclusions and is calling for a spiritual transformation and
a solid connection to Earth s ecosystems. The Laudato Si is different, as it is not addressed specifically
to the one beliefs with additional groups added. Pope Francis invites the people of the world to a
dialogue on the subject of environmentalism. Pope Francis has written Laudato Si as caring for
creation is something that is close to his heart. More fundamentally, Pope Francis believes that there
are substantial ecological complications today that must be addressed. They include not only problems
in the natural environment but also in the human sphere, particularly among the disadvantaged. Pope
Francis wrote the encyclical, dated 24 May 2015 and was officially published at on 18

History Of King Richard IIi Of England
History is not all that it is cracked up to be. If a person believes himself/herself to be logical, it is easy
to assume that researchers of history and authors of historical works are ethical and do their best. This
is not a conclusion that is borne out by the facts. The case of the written history of King Richard III of
England is an outstanding example of the lack of adequate research and actual perfidy on the part of
historians. Richard III reigned for a brief period in the late 15th century, 26 June 1483 to 22 August
1485. He was the last Yorkist king and the last of the Plantagenet kings. He traced his ancestry to
William the Conquerer. He was also the last English king to die in battle. He was succeeded on the
throne by Henry the VII, the first of the Tudor line who ruled England for the next 118 years. With the
death of Richard there were, for all intents and purposes, no Yorkist contenders for the throne. (There
were a couple of incidents with pretenders, but these were quickly and violently put down.) As a
result, Henry was able to concentrate on his duties as king. As monarchs and heads of state do right up
to the present, Henry made sure he was presented in the best light possible, and that Richard was
portrayed as a really bad guy. It seems as if this got a little out of hand, and there is no question that
Henry and his successors did nothing to rein in the writers of the time. Chief among these authors was
none other than William Shakespeare,

Water Conservation Is A Growing Problem
Water Conservation is a growing problem today around the globe. Water is one of Earth s most limited
resources. Our population is going up every year and more people means more need for water.
Everyone knows about the water cycle and it shows us that we have the same amount of water on
earth at all times. The water cycle works hard and is continuously moving water all across the globe.
Earth honestly does not have enough drinkable water to keep up with our growing population. Out of
Earth s water, only 2.5% is fresh water, and we aren t even able to use that considering majority of that
is frozen or polluted. We basically have 1% of drinkable water. Without water, most daily tasks are
undoable. Agriculture actually uses a majority of the water. They need water to grow plants and to
water animals so that we have foods to eat. There are ways to teach agriculture producers to conserve
water without having to restrict their water usage. California farmers for example are going through a
tough time with conserving water. There is an abundance of water used in California to water the
vegetables that are grown and produced there; promoting less water use can help us conserve water. I
will be informing you of three groups I believe make a huge impact on communicating water
conservation to Agriculture. These three groups all share a common bond, which is water
conservation.
The type of communication that reaches the largest volume of people, including agriculuture, would
be the mass

Cinematic Techniques In What Dreams May Come
Cinematic Technique Analysis
Can two tapestries made with similar thread, truly weave two different pictures? Surely if the broad
scope of each tapestry is conceived and developed with the same material interlaced throughout, the
end result will be similar. However, the tiny threads of difference woven amongst those similar strands
can result in one tapestry quite altered from the other. An example of this can be found in comparing
the film What Dreams May Come, directed by Vincent Ward, to Dante Alighieri s book The Inferno,
upon which it is based. The film follows Chris Nielsen as he searches Heaven and Hell for his lost
wife, just as Dante searched for his love in The Inferno. While the fibers of similarity look alike in this
book and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, Chris and Annie and their fates are the embodiment of good and evil. Despite these
oppositional forces, Ward shows that similarities exist as well. For example, multiple times throughout
the film they each wore blue. This color symbolizes peace, and even though both characters went
through very challenging trials, they were still able to find joy in the little moments. Additionally, at
different progression points of the film, Ward portrays times where Annie the embodiment of evil is a
help to Chris, and times where Chris the embodiment of good begins to succumb to the despair of evil.
Through this cinematic crossover, Ward creates the idea that there are times of good and evil in
everyone, rather than an undefiled superiority and distance of one from the other. Finally, there is the
cinematic urgency and dedication shown through Chris as he refuses to give up on finding and saving
Annie. This endurance eventually results in both Chris and Annie making it to Heaven, despite Annie
having committed suicide. Once there, Annie s appearance is changed, again through this use of
cinematic technique, conveying that rather than turning Chris to the darker side from seeking out a
sinner, Annie was instead turned to the side of good.

The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis
In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in.
Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are
always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of
Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates
he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned
upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his
point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. For example, when
Meletus says that majority improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a
great point with horses and other animals. While with animals the minority improve and the majority
corrupt. (25B) During Socrates trial, a lot of details cluing into a bigger picture showing how he is
able to prove his innocence and also stand up for what he believes in. One example, is him trying to
focus the attention away from him being a sophist. Socrates was not charging his student to learn his

William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Thomas Middleton...
The Renaissance: Essay 1 revisited
The Renaissance was a time of cultural and social revolution in England, at least in the south of it.
The plays and playwrights of the time challenged the societal norms and pushed boundaries into never
before thought of areas, this essay will show how Renaissance drama was subversive and created the
world we live in today. The two plays I will be focusing on are: William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
and Thomas Middleton s Women beware Women . Both share similar themes yet go about them very
differently to one another.
Twelfth Night (or What You Will ) was written in 1601, near the middle of Shakespeare s career, and a
mere 15 years before his death in 1616. Considered by many critics as one of his greatest comedies,
Twelfth Night is about deception, disguises and madness, along with the bizarre things caused by love
itself. This play is also one of Shakespeare s plays that include a female protagonist, pretending to be a
man. (At the time of the play all parts where played by men, so Viola would have been a man
pretending to be a women who was also pretending to be a man!)
Viola, the female protagonist, like many of Shakespeare s heroines is likeable from the get go with no
real character flaws to note of and no serious faults to note of. (Discounting her decision to dress as a
man, as it sets the plot in motion.) And while other character s love is a fickle thing, such as Orsino

The State Of The Louisiana Territory
The purchasing of the Louisiana territory was not as easy of a business transaction as one might think.
It was a very rushed, stressful process that caused President Thomas Jefferson a considerable amount
of mental and emotional anguish. The problem that was the Louisiana purchase can be broken into
three parts: Jefferson s dilemma, Jefferson s decision, and the consequences. The Louisiana Purchase
was one of the most influential events in American history because it helped not only double the size
of the US in the early 1800s, but also helped the United States economy prosper. Some events cannot
be fully measured at the time of their occurrence. It requires decades, even centuries, to understand
their full significance. Next to winning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Story of Bob Marley, Women and their Children

The music genre of reggae has become indelibly linked with artist Bob Marley. To this day, nearly two
decades after his death from cancer, Bob s legacy lives on in his popular songs of oppression, racial
strife and resistance. Yet, his heritage is also carried on by the people who he touched. Like any rock
star, famed musician or celebrity, women surrounded him wherever he went. That Bob was not a one
woman man was common knowledge, says Don Taylor, though Bob had been married to Rita
Anderson throughout his climb to the top rungs of the musical ladder (Taylor). The purpose of this

Bob was said to be very strict with the trio, which consisted of Rita, her cousin Constantine Dream
Walker, and Marlene Precious Gifford, to the point where the group came to dislike him (White).
Much to Rita s dismay however, Bunny pointed out that Bob was in love with her. Soon after, Bob
started sending her love notes. Rita was confused by this display of emotion since Bob held a strict air
in public. She approached him with her confusion, and the result was a two hour long discussion that
brought the two closer together.
During one discussion, Bob explained his night visions of duppies, or ghosts, to Rita.
Because the girl vehemently disbelieved him, he invited her to stay with him in his bed to witness the
apparitions. Rita accepted the offer, and did indeed witness the specters Bob had so accurately
described, but a sexual relationship was not consummated at that time (White).
By then, Rita was still living with her stern aunt. But that didn t prevent Rita from offering her lover a
place to stay. Bob accepted, though he was forced to sneak in after her cousin went to sleep and leave
before anyone awoke. Furthermore, Bob had to share a bed with Rita and her cousin, and be careful
not to awake Sharon, whose crib remained close to the bed. Eventually, Viola discovered the nocturnal
happenings between the lovers. Thinking that Bob could act as Sharon s father figure, Viola invited
Bob to live with Rita in a shed behind the house.

A Comprehensive Psychological Assessment At Bradfield...
Julie Coldwell, aged 25, has been referred by her General Practitioner to myself at Bradfield Hospital
Mental Health Unit, where I work as a Clinical Psychologist, due to concerns about her physical and
mental health from her job. Ms Coldwell is a trainee manager in a supermarket. Recently she has felt
that work is taking a toll on her, and hasn t been feeling herself. She has reported symptoms of
extreme fatigue whilst working, and has made mention of difficulty sleeping. She worries about being
fired due to her poor performance at work, which she says has become progressively worse over time.
Ms Coldwell is concerned that her work colleagues are judging her due to her performance and
discussing it when she is not present. Consequently, she is finding it very difficult to go to work. Ms
Coldwell has given informed consent to complete a comprehensive psychological assessment in order
to determine a diagnosis and treatment. Key considerations to be addressed are her sleeping
difficulties, fatigue, worries of how others evaluate her, and her reluctance to work. As limited
information has been issued, additional background information is required to complete a
comprehensive psychological assessment. This includes a request to her General Practitioner for her
medical history, as well as relevant personal history (brief description of her childhood, adolescence
and adulthood, relationships with others, family, educational and work history, any history of
substance use, and

Argumentative Essay On Texting
Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a bill on June 6th of 2017 to ban texting while driving in the
state of Texas. The measure was authored by state representative, Tom Craddick. This bill went into
effect on September 1st of 2017. This had become the fourth session in a row that state rep, Tom
Craddick, had attempted to pass the ban on texting while driving. Craddick stated By enacting this
public safety legislation, the governor is saving lives by deterring this dangerous deadly behavior...
For a long time, Texas has needed this law to prevent the loss of life in unnecessary and preventable
crashes and we finally have it. In the process of signing the bill into law, Abbott hesitated for several
days before deciding to sign the bill. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First time violators could be fined anywhere from ninety nine dollars to two hundred dollars for a
repeated offense. Carpio 1 To start off, yes, I do believe the House Bill 62 should have been passed. It
prevents the risk of losing lives due to texting while driving. In 2016 there was 6,632 total vehicle
crashes caused by cell phone usage. From 2014 to 2016, the amount of fatal vehicle crashes caused by
cell phone usage increased by fifty two percent. By creating this bill, the amount of crashes due to cell
phone usage will drastically decrease. Often people believe that sending one text message is okay, but
most times it is that one text massage that causes a crash. Texting while driving is simply a distraction
that could wait until the vehicle is stopped, but instead most people feel they cannot wait. Sending one
message, or making one phone call is something so simple that could easily cost someone their life.
So, I do agree that this bill was needed in order to avoid the many crashes and deaths associated with
texting while

Clifford Brown Character Traits
Referred to as a Jazz singer, Sarah Vaughan exhibits her all rounded musical personality in her
renowned album Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown. Although the title indicates that the album
features influential trumpeter Clifford Brown, the singer is the indisputable focus, who enjoys
accompaniments by a small, compact group of instrumentalists. Clifford Brown, also known as
Brownie, with his restrained, graceful delivery, shares equal parts of solo with tenor saxophonist Paul
Quinichette and flutist Herbie Mann in most of the songs . His status among the instrumentalists was
not accentuated when the album was recorded in the December of 1954.
The original LP consists of nine tracks, including several classic Jazz standards with new attempts
combining voice and instruments, two little recorded Jazz songs and two pop ballads. Vaughan s
identity as a Jazz singer was not always clear. Actually, in 1953, Sarah signed two contracts with
Mercury one with Mercury itself to sing pops and another one with their subsidiary label EmArcy to

Accompanied only by the piano and the light sound of the drum, Sarah presents her moving voice
with sophisticated techniques in Embraceable You. Her thick low notes, combining with heartfelt
vibrato at the end of the phrases, makes you feel a sense of tenderness and sublime. After Jimmy Jones
solo, her singing reaches a higher level. That above and the long note on do are her very moment of
maternity. When she sings, you really believe that there are warm arms around you. September Song
shows Sarah s brilliant techniques on high notes. This song gives solo opportunities to the horns, but
they do not hog the spotlight. Paul Quinichette and Clifford Brown play plain solo. The flute solo here
sounds clumsy and the noise of air is a bit annoying. To be honest, only Sarah s bluesy treatment add

Elie Wiesel s Night
Night Essay
January 30, 1933 the Holocaust began,This was the birth of one of the worst horrors in war history,
The Holocaust was the transportation of many people of all races, to the ghettos, then being
transported to a concentration camp to where nearly 11 million people died in the span of 12 years .
Many stories have been displayed of the apathetic, brutality of living in conditions of the
concentration camps, but one particular story stands on how exactly it was to live in. Night by Elie
Wiesel; this is his story.
Wiesel was transported from Sighet to Auschwitz, a concentration camp for a year; he was 15 years
old when he arrived. As he continued living in the camp, he began to question everything. Why this

Raising The Red Lantern By Zhang Yimou
The 1991 Chinese film Raise the Red Lantern, directed by Zhang Yimou, demonstrates power
relations within the household in 1920 s upper class Chinese society and uses them to challenge the
dominant patriarchal ideologies through a critique of Chinese social culture while also reinforcing the
idea that tradition is ultimately the most powerful and thus the relations of power in the household. By
culture I am referring to Raymond William s definition of culture as lived cultures and signifying
practices. Lived cultures being the particular way of life held by a particular group of people that can
be seen in literature and holiday practices. And signifying practices as meaning making practices such
as music, poetry and T.V. dramas (Williams R, 1983). The particular definition of ideologies I ll be
using is the masking, distortion or concealment of particular ideas and images of reality, giving a false
consciousness or a blind acceptance of notions (Storey J, 2015). The underlying theme of the movie
Raise the Red Lantern and this essay is politics. Specifically the social politics within the household
and how tradition dominates these relations. In 20th century China, Sun Yat sen tried to change
Chinese government to become more westernised, however eventually failed. Because of, this
feudalism was introduced to China, both landholding and tax liability was increased in every area,

Flat Characters
In this article, Clay compares the iconic works of Charles Dickens David Copperfield, Leo Tolstoy s
War and Peace, and Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice in order to argue for the vitality of flat
characters. Through the use of these extremely contrasting novels, Clay contends that when used
correctly, flat characters can be as memorable and impactful as seen in the likes of Pride and
Prejudice. The vitality of flat characters is a pushing point of both Elizabeth s lack of a hero s journey
and proving Austen s literary ability; thereby allowing this article to have dual uses. Had Jane Austen
not made her flat characters as impactful as she did, Elizabeth may have been able to experience a
complete hero s journey. However, seeing as how Austen has expertly utilized her flat characters, as
proved by this article, Elizabeth has yet to complete her hero s journey. This article was
multitudinously helpful to us as it added as extremely important point to our IOP topic to which we
had not thought of previously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article is especially interesting as it takes a semi controversial stance, saying that Elizabeth is in
fact not a feminist. Such is an interestingly unique approach and is one that is rarely brought up; much
like our own topic. Such an article was useful in the defending of our IOP in the sense that Francis
brings about fine points in regards to the lack of pure feminism within Pride and Prejudice. Since
feminism would be an ideal result of a hero s journey on Elizabeth s part, and such is lacking from the
novel, the points that Francis bring up to prove such a lack are relevant to our point as

Psychological Terror In Lemony Snicket s A Series Of...
Everyone has something that scares them, that is frightening more than blood or violence. More often
than not many people are frightened by a physiological thriller rather than one which is simply all
gore. Lemony Snicket s a Series of Unfortunate Events, is exactly that, a psychological terror that is
centered around a series of probable unfortunate events. Although, this movie may be lined with
satirical comedy, it s main storyline is rather gothic in nature. The gothic nature of this movie is
developed by its realism in its villain, plot line, and characters. Lemony Snicket s A Series of
Unfortunate Events, is about three young children whose parents died unexpectedly in a house fire,
leaving them orphaned. The three children are left to their closest relative, Count Olaf, a narcissistic
struggling actor who is a horribly unsuitable parent. It is made apparent early on that Count Olaf is
only after the Baudelaire children s inheritance. He quickly figures out he has no access to the money,
and neither do the children, until Violet the oldest turns 18, or the children die. The entire movie is
based around Count Olaf s many attempts to claim the money. For example; marrying Violet, killing
off a distant relative, leaving the children locked in a car on train tracks, ect. Count Olaf s first play at
the money, is forcing Violet to marry him by holding, Sunny hostage until after the wedding. He
disguises the wedding as a play and cons a judge into officiating the wedding.

Dances With Wolves Stereotypes
Overcoming Stereotypes in the Movie, Dances With Wolves
Everyone has a preconceived opinion of how a certain ethnic group is in terms of the way they live,
the morals they hold, the way they deal with people different from them, and how they deal with one
another. We come to these conclusions by what we have seen in the media, heard from other people,
or actually experienced ourselves. Most people would consider these opinions to be stereotypes.
Dances with Wolves is a motion picture that deals with and touches on all sides of personal
stereotypes we as American and American Indians have about each other. John Dunbar takes us
through and allows us to see how it is to come into a situation he was not familiar with and then
eventually the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also came across intimidated by John because of his courage through this miserable time. He saw
Dunbar as someone he could never be and he didn t see his life worth living anymore.
Going into the movie we did not really get a strong sense of how Dunbar thought of the Indians.
While he was journeying out to the frontier Dunbar asked Timmons, a man that was taking him there,
what he thought about Indians. With no hesitation at all Timmons stated that they were all thieves,
murderers, and savages. Dunbar didn t ever state what he thought of the Indians. I got the impression
that he really did not have an opinion about them because he has never dealt with them. He seemed
like the type of guy that would not assume something without experiencing it for himself. Everyone he
talked to about Indians probably said the same things Timmons did, but for some reason Dunbar was
different from the rest. He seemed to be better than that.
The Indians are finally presented in the movie by the screen scanning across a wide open desert very
peaceful and deserted. In the middle of all this silence the camera fell upon a skeleton of a human that
we assume the Indians killed. This is how the movie sets the tone for how we are going to think about
the Indians. They play with the stereotype that all us Americans think are true about the Indians. At
first we think that we were right, but the story does not end there.
The first encounter that Dunbar has with the Indians is when

Mortgage Options Analysis
Mortgage Options Analysis
Abstract
You decided to buy a house in Amherst valued at $250,000 and need to borrow the entire amount to
finance your house. After shopping around for a mortgage loan, you found that the following two
deals from the Mortgage One Company are very attractive:
Option 1: A 15 year fixed rate mortgage with no point and an APR of 5%, compounded monthly.
Option 2: A 15 year fixed rate mortgage with two points and an APR of 4.5%, compounded monthly.
The closing costs (not including the points) for the two loans are identical.
According to the law, the interests on your mortgage payments are tax deductible. In fact, at the end of
each year, your lender will simply add up your 12 month interest payments (without ... Show more

These annual amounts I used to calculate annual tax savings by multiplying annual interest amount by
tax rate. In order to be able to compare the amounts received in different years, I found present values
of each cash flow. I added up the PVs of tax savings for every year to get total tax savings (all 15
years for option 1 and first 5 years for option 2).
For option 2 I calculated the savings I receive from reduced payment. For that I used difference
between the mortgage payments as annuity payment for 180 months for Question A and for 60 months
for Question B
For option 2 I also calculated the tax savings from points by multiplying amount paid for points by tax
rate. Since the tax savings occurred in the end of the year I discounted that amount for 1 year.
For option with refinance, I completed similar calculations as in options 1 and 2. However, for the first
5 years the payment was as in option 1. Then, I calculated new payment for years 11 15 by using
ending balance after 60 months as new loan amount; I used APR of 4.25% compounded monthly.
Then, I found present values of tax savings. In this case, present time is after 60 month in house.

role of the family. He discussed the equality and privilege differences for male and female. Because of
inequality in marriage and in the household the image of women was at risk. Specifically, he confers
the methods in which the subordination of women adversely affects the women, but too the men and
children in the family. This subordination hinders and cancels the moral and intellectual growth of
women by limiting their field of activities, subsequently, shoving them either into self denial or into

  • 4. The Role Of Women In Japan The role of women in Japan has been influenced by the many changes that the country has integrated over the years. In the past, women were full time housewives. They would work until marriage, and then retire to take care of their household, as men were seen as the sole breadwinners of the house. There are a large number of behavioral expectations for women, like cleanliness, modesty, courtesy and much more. Japanese women were expected to take care of the personal appearance, their homes, and attend to guests by preparing food or tea. In ancient Japan, women were given the smallest roles in society. Women in Japan were not able to divorce their husbands , however, husbands were able to divorce their wives if they felt that they were not fulfilling their duties. Though, a great deal has changed in Japan after World War II. Japanese people s attitude toward divorce had changed as much as their attitude toward marriage. New laws had been placed and with the western influence, people became more open minded. According to Yoko Tokuhiro, it is common to find that Japanese women delay marriage until later to experience life more before settling down. Women even work after marriage or childbirth and some even choose to become career women (Marriage in Contemporary Japan, 44). Women now have the right to own properties, vote and work. Japan continues to adopt western culture, and as a result, women now have a larger role in society. Japanese Pop Culture Japanese popular culture is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Common Traits And Characteristics Of Psychopaths Area of Interest: Common Traits and Characteristics of Psychopaths. Research Questions: 1. What is the definition of a psychopath? 2. What is it about psychopaths that fascinate us? 3. Are there certain traits that make victims vulnerable to psychopathic manipulation? 4. What are some of the common traits of psychopaths? Problem Statement: Psychopaths are the group of people who kill over a longer period of time without being caught or stopped. Unlike mass murderers, who may kill many people at one time, psychopaths usually have reasons for killing, they will plan out where, when, why and how before they actually kill. Many enjoy cannibalism, necrophilia, and like to keep the body parts as trophies. There violent behavior is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The research was obtained from limited sources which entailed internet searches and articles. The information was gathered from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and college professors. Hypothesis(ses): 1. If psychopathy is detected at a young age by a test given to the individual by a professional then it is less likely for them to commit a crime in the future. 2. After being diagnosed with this personality disorder the individual can undergo treatment and prevent future crimes. Research Methodology: The term psychopathy refers to a personality disorder that includes a cluster of interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial traits and behaviors. These involve deception; manipulation; irresponsibility; impulsivity; stimulations seeking; poor behavior controls; shallow affect; lack of empathy, guilt, or remorse; sexual promiscuity; callous disregard for the rights of others; and unethical and antisocial behaviors (Babiak, et al. 2012). A psychopath does not internalize their feelings of anxiety and guilt or fail to experience them appropriately; instead, he lacks the fundamental understanding of what these things are. A psychopath will try to insert himself into a crime scene, but wouldn t feel panic, shock, or horror unlike how the other onlookers would feel. His interest would fall more on the reactions of the victims and of the crowd. Despite this emotional deficiency, most psychopaths learn to mimic the appearance of normal emotion well enough to ... • 9. Maternal Bond in Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay Maternal Bond in Toni Morrison s Beloved The maternal bond between mother and kin is valued and important in all cultures. Mothers and children are linked together and joined: physically, by womb and breast; and emotionally, by a sense of self and possession. Once that bond is established, a mother will do anything for her child. In the novel Beloved, the author, Toni Morrison, describes a woman, Sethe, who s bond is so strong she goes to great lengths to keep her children safe and protected from the evil that she knows. She gave them the gift of life, then, adding to that, the joy of freedom. Determined to shield them from the hell of slavery, she took drastic measures to keep them from that life. The link between mother and child, then, is an important underlying theme throughout Beloved, and one with which Sethe became obsessed. Sethe learned the value of motherhood from an early age. Not wanting the children of the white men that raped her, Sethe?s mother, Ma?am (as she is called in the book), threw all the unwanted children away. But, Sethe?s father was a black man whom Ma?am loved, and so she kept Sethe. Recalling the story, Sethe thinks back on what Nan (the woman who knew Sethe?s mother and raised Sethe, herself) said, ?She threw them all away but you. The one from the crew she threw away on the island. The others from more whites she also threw away. Without names, she threw them. You she gave the name of the black man? (Morrison, 62). Thus having an identity because of her mother, ?Sethe learns Ma? am?s history and grounds her personality in motherly love? (Kubitcheck 123). Kubitcheck also says, ? mother love offers the strongest defense against slavery. • 10. Environmentalism In Pope Francis Pope Francis describes a relentless exploitation and destruction towards environmental discomfort, for which he blamed apathy from the pursuit of profitable faith in political as well as technological injustice. The Laudato Si unambiguously accepts scientific causes that impacts the climate that were beneficially man made, stating climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods . Representing one of the principals that challenges humanity. After great anticipation, Pope Francis determined and faced the difficulties of climate change and pleaded for justice, to enter into dialogue with all people about our common home. The Pope reaches for new conclusions and is calling for a spiritual transformation and a solid connection to Earth s ecosystems. The Laudato Si is different, as it is not addressed specifically to the one beliefs with additional groups added. Pope Francis invites the people of the world to a dialogue on the subject of environmentalism. Pope Francis has written Laudato Si as caring for creation is something that is close to his heart. More fundamentally, Pope Francis believes that there are substantial ecological complications today that must be addressed. They include not only problems in the natural environment but also in the human sphere, particularly among the disadvantaged. • 13. History Of King Richard IIi Of England History is not all that it is cracked up to be. If a person believes himself/herself to be logical, it is easy to assume that researchers of history and authors of historical works are ethical and do their best. This is not a conclusion that is borne out by the facts. The case of the written history of King Richard III of England is an outstanding example of the lack of adequate research and actual perfidy on the part of historians. Richard III reigned for a brief period in the late 15th century, 26 June 1483 to 22 August 1485. He was the last Yorkist king and the last of the Plantagenet kings. He traced his ancestry to William the Conquerer. He was also the last English king to die in battle. He was succeeded on the throne by Henry the VII, the first of the Tudor line who ruled England for the next 118 years. With the death of Richard there were, for all intents and purposes, no Yorkist contenders for the throne. (There were a couple of incidents with pretenders, but these were quickly and violently put down.) As a result, Henry was able to concentrate on his duties as king. As monarchs and heads of state do right up to the present, Henry made sure he was presented in the best light possible, and that Richard was portrayed as a really bad guy. It seems as if this got a little out of hand, and there is no question that Henry and his successors did nothing to rein in the writers of the time. Chief among these authors was none other than William Shakespeare, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Water Conservation Is A Growing Problem Water Conservation is a growing problem today around the globe. Water is one of Earth s most limited resources. Our population is going up every year and more people means more need for water. Everyone knows about the water cycle and it shows us that we have the same amount of water on earth at all times. The water cycle works hard and is continuously moving water all across the globe. Earth honestly does not have enough drinkable water to keep up with our growing population. Out of Earth s water, only 2.5% is fresh water, and we aren t even able to use that considering majority of that is frozen or polluted. We basically have 1% of drinkable water. Without water, most daily tasks are undoable. Agriculture actually uses a majority of the water. They need water to grow plants and to water animals so that we have foods to eat. There are ways to teach agriculture producers to conserve water without having to restrict their water usage. California farmers for example are going through a tough time with conserving water. There is an abundance of water used in California to water the vegetables that are grown and produced there; promoting less water use can help us conserve water. I will be informing you of three groups I believe make a huge impact on communicating water conservation to Agriculture. These three groups all share a common bond, which is water conservation. The type of communication that reaches the largest volume of people, including agriculuture, would be the mass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Cinematic Techniques In What Dreams May Come Cinematic Technique Analysis Can two tapestries made with similar thread, truly weave two different pictures? Surely if the broad scope of each tapestry is conceived and developed with the same material interlaced throughout, the end result will be similar. However, the tiny threads of difference woven amongst those similar strands can result in one tapestry quite altered from the other. An example of this can be found in comparing the film What Dreams May Come, directed by Vincent Ward, to Dante Alighieri s book The Inferno, upon which it is based. The film follows Chris Nielsen as he searches Heaven and Hell for his lost wife, just as Dante searched for his love in The Inferno. While the fibers of similarity look alike in this book and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the film, Chris and Annie and their fates are the embodiment of good and evil. Despite these oppositional forces, Ward shows that similarities exist as well. For example, multiple times throughout the film they each wore blue. This color symbolizes peace, and even though both characters went through very challenging trials, they were still able to find joy in the little moments. Additionally, at different progression points of the film, Ward portrays times where Annie the embodiment of evil is a help to Chris, and times where Chris the embodiment of good begins to succumb to the despair of evil. Through this cinematic crossover, Ward creates the idea that there are times of good and evil in everyone, rather than an undefiled superiority and distance of one from the other. Finally, there is the cinematic urgency and dedication shown through Chris as he refuses to give up on finding and saving Annie. This endurance eventually results in both Chris and Annie making it to Heaven, despite Annie having committed suicide. Once there, Annie s appearance is changed, again through this use of cinematic technique, conveying that rather than turning Chris to the darker side from seeking out a sinner, Annie was instead turned to the side of good. ... • 17. The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in. Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. For example, when Meletus says that majority improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a great point with horses and other animals. • 18. William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night And Thomas Middleton... The Renaissance: Essay 1 revisited The Renaissance was a time of cultural and social revolution in England, at least in the south of it. The plays and playwrights of the time challenged the societal norms and pushed boundaries into never before thought of areas, this essay will show how Renaissance drama was subversive and created the world we live in today. The two plays I will be focusing on are: William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night and Thomas Middleton s Women beware Women . Both share similar themes yet go about them very differently to one another. Twelfth Night (or What You Will ) was written in 1601, near the middle of Shakespeare s career, and a mere 15 years before his death in 1616. Considered by many critics as one of his greatest comedies, Twelfth Night is about deception, disguises and madness, along with the bizarre things caused by love itself. This play is also one of Shakespeare s plays that include a female protagonist, pretending to be a man. (At the time of the play all parts where played by men, so Viola would have been a man pretending to be a women who was also pretending to be a man!) Viola, the female protagonist, like many of Shakespeare s heroines is likeable from the get go with no real character flaws to note of and no serious faults to note of. The Louisiana Purchase was one of the most influential events in American history because it helped not only double the size of the US in the early 1800s, but also helped the United States economy prosper.
