Women s Role In The Victorian Era Oppression Of Women
Victorian age female oppression is frequently blotted out from discussion. The maltreatment of
women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age,
however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely
centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply
embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society
today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to
teach of the Victorian Era oppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The
fundamental function of a woman in the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong
energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth.
Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that learning
might decrease their focus on multiplying. With only the slightest of education, these women were
trapped in a cycle of child rearing. Many women went into relationships with no previous knowledge
of sex and were then thrown into situations with predetermined spouses. The terrifying experiences
these individuals were tossed into were detrimental to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bipolar depression, postpartum depression, or simply the unwillingness to bear a child frequently
required the remedy of this so called medication. The rest cure obliged the diagnosed female to stay in
a single bland room with limited stimulus and outside contact until they were functioning at full
capacity once again. This treatment, however, did not produce the desired effect. Often times, the
constant solitude only added to their already ill mental state. This cycle of incurable craziness only
leads to more stereotypes of the unreliability of women s mental

Robert E Lee Legacy
From little acorns grow mighty oaks , my grandmother used to tell me before she passed. Her meaning
behind it was due to the branches of our family tree originating from the trunk of none other than
Robert Edward Lee. This saying is a part of his legacy that lives on today that helps people like myself
and others to strive for a better tomorrow for all that he willed for. Robert E. Lee is one of the larger
than‑life figures in American history, and a key figure at a defining period of that history. Lee
commanded the Army of Northern Virginia during most of the Civil War and his brilliant battlefield
leadership earned him a reputation as one of the greatest military leaders in history as he consistently
defeated larger Union armies. Lee was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even during the war, he refused to use tactics he considered repugnant such as using spies out of the
sheer nature of his honorability. After the war, Lee became president of Washington College, now
known as Washington and Lee University, in Lexington, Virginia.8 Accepting the results of the war, he
devoted himself to education and to helping rebuild the South. Lee died on Oct. 12, 1870, however his
legacy lived on even in modern day.5 What many consider weaknesses Lee were actually some of his
biggest strengths; He was considerate of others, and his politeness affected his total obedience to his
orders. He entrusted much of his discretion to subordinates who most would consider not capable of
handling it, but but he saw the true nature of their genius. Despite these weaknesses , many historians
maintain that Lee was the most capable commander of the Civil War. A great general and a great man,
Robert E. Lee was a fitting symbol of the South as well as an American hero. Both general and
soldiers acknowledged and embraced their reliance upon each other long before their deeds passed
into memory, history, and legend.2 Even though Robert E. Lee graduated second in his class from
West Point, Lee was one of six students in his graduating class to never receive a demerit which also
reflects how he fought.7 His classmates

Adequate Yearly Progress is very important to teachers especially of this generation. AYP is based on
a pass/fail system. To achieve AYP the school must pass each of benchmarks that cover 39 seprate
criteria. This means that even if your school has been a high performing school, if one of the 39
subgroups (students with disabilities, low readers, etc) fail to make AYP then the entire school fails .

The Importance Of The Ancient Greek Olympic Games
The Importance of the Olympic Games
Naked men running around competing against each other was once a common thing in the Olympics.
Even though it sounds pretty gross, it was a true thing that happened in ancient times. The ancient
Greek Olympics, although very long ago, have had a lasting effect on our society today. According to
World History teacher Laron Johnson, the Greek Empire started in 8th Century BC. The Greeks have
always valued competition; they constantly fought with each other as well as working together to fight
against other peoples (Johnson). They have given us a lot of our modern things. Thus, the ancient
Greek Olympics have had an impact on our modern society in global unity, sporting events, and our
obsession with sports.
The Olympics have always been a way to bring people together. Even when the city states were
fighting each other, they put aside their differences and competed peacefully. Mark Cartwright states,
The Games started with a procession which went from the host town of Elis to Olympia...and on
arrival at Olympia all athletes and officials swore an oath to follow the established rules of the
competitions and to compete with honour and respect (Cartwright). Basically, the athletes were
promoting unity among the city states by swearing to uphold their oath of truce during the games. This
unity has come into our modern games when athletes from warring countries can enjoy one another s
company, even if their countries hate each other. According to the author of the website International

Charlottetown Conference Case Study
While the attendees of the Charlottetown Conference all came to one final decision, there was
definitely more than one point of view within the room. After failing to receive a contribution from the
Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway), the three
Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between the three of
them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas investments. There
were vast areas of land that the Prince Edward Island delegates were looking to sell from landlords to
people who lived outside the colony. The landlords who owned these plots of land rarely fulfilled all
of the requirements that were provided. The Island settlers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While the delegates were discussing terms, there was an American Civil War taking place to the south.
Britain was wanting to reduce its financial and military aids with its North American colonies. This
added to the giant United States armies posed a large threat to the Province of Canada and the leaders
and delegates decided to take action. In fear of the United States taking over the northern half on the
continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a conference being held in
Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a delegation that had not been
invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to the Conference and shared their
ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. After seeing no big reason to disagree with the
Province of Canada about uniting all of the colonies, they gave their final statement: A unanimous
vote towards the federation of all of the provinces, as long at the terms were approved.
To summarize, there were two perspectives at the Charlottetown Conference. The three Maritimes
colonies were looking to unite as one to achieve better financial opportunities. Meanwhile, the British
North American colonies were grasping for a union between them and the Maritimes due to their fear
caused by the American Civil War. After sharing ideas with the Maritimes, the Canadian colonies

The United States Will Fight Foreign And Domestic Terrorism
Technology has come a long way since the early 90 s. With modern advances, technology is just about
incorporated in everything we do in our day to day lives. Since technology has been incorporated into
our everyday lives, it may raise some concerns about what may be happening in the background. One
of these concerns would be privacy, we all may take it for granted but it is our constitutional rights as
Americans. But this all changed after the September 2001 attack on the twin towers.
The September 2001 attacks on the twin towers will forever change how the United States will fight
foreign and domestic terrorism. The implementation of The Program starting on October 4th, was set
out to collect massive amounts of data via Internet and telephone records to ensure national security.
Many people within the NSA didn t even know about this program because it was so classified. The
select few that knew about this program, had several different views about how ethical this program
was. But many of them viewed it as an unethical practice and a clear violation of the Constitution of
United States. But some of them viewed it as necessary to national security.
Diana Roark was one of the few that believed that The Program was unconstitutional and clearly
unethical. In the documentary United States of Secrets, Diana Roark was presented with The Program

Wal Mart As A Symbol Of The United States
Overview: Sam Walton founded Wal Mart in 1962 in Roger, Arkansas. In a little less than 10 years,
Wal Mart had 38 locations and was opening two stores per year. In 1970, the company started trading
in the New York Stock Exchange. By 1979, the company announced a record $1billion sales and it
became the first company to do so. Wal Mart reached record after record during those years, and by
the end of 1989, Wal Mart reported after tax profits of $1billlion. Wal Mart now has become a symbol
of the United States, and it is the biggest employer in the world with approximately 2.2 million
workers with operations in 27 different countries. Wal Mart s revenue is gargantuan; they were ranked
number one by Fortune Magazine in 2001, with a revenue of $219.8bn. At this point, Wal Mart sales
are around $1billlion per day. The incredible rise of Wal Mart from a little store in Arkansas to one of
the biggest companies todayis astonishing; however, it has not come without its problems. During the
early 1980 s, employees tried to unionize in one of the distribution centers in Arkansas. Walton told
the workers that if they unionize, he would remove the employees profit sharing plan and replace them
with other employees. Another scandal Wal Mart faced was in its Made in America campaign, during
which most of the clothes sold in Wal Mart were manufactured in sweatshops in developing countries.
The video The Age of Wal Mart, which aired in 2004, presented many ethical issues

The Apartheid Of South Africa Essay
South Africa, after experiencing the apartheid, is trying their best to overcome the apartheid. Now, the
country even has its own leader. He is Jacob Zuma. It is already his second term as a president.( News,
B. (2016, August 5)) The country went over a lot of things, and the history of democratic political
system is not very long for them.
English and Dutch colonized South Africa in the seventeenth century. After South Africa got its
independence from England, Afrikaner National Party became a majority. This was the result of two
groups trying to gain the most power, and the Afrikaner National Party won. After the independence
and apartheid they experienced, there was the first non racial elections in 1994. After that,
parliamentary republic was elected after replacing constitution of Interim Constitution in 1197,
February 4th. After the independence, South Africa tried its best to be non racist and get out of the
apartheid they struggled. South Africa elected its own president, and aimed to be democratic. Even
though South Africa now is not fully settled democratic system, they are still struggling and trying
hard to be fully democratic. (The History of Apartheid in South Africa.)
South Africa once again, tried its best and still trying to be a democratic country. However, the second
largest party, DA, was under the control of apartheid even though the party opposed apartheid laws.
That is why DA changed its route to be more conventional liberal, which opposed ANC.(

Network Control For Cloud Data Centers
LazyCtrl: Scalable Network Control for Cloud Data Centers

Abstract The advent of software defined networking enables flexible, reliable and feature rich control
planes for data center networks. However, the tight coupling of centralized control and complete
visibility leads to a wide range of issues among which scalability has risen to prominence. We observe
that data center traffic is usually highly skewed and thus edge switches can be grouped according to
traffic locality. As a result, the workload of the central controller could be highly reduced if we carry
out distributed control inside those groups. Based on the above observation, we present LazyCtrl, a
novel hybrid control plane design for data center networks. LazyCtrl aims at bringing laziness to the
central controller by dynamically devolving most of the control tasks to independent switch groups to
process frequent intra group events using distributed control mechanisms, while handling rare inter
group or other specified events by the controller. We implement LazyCtrl and build a prototype based
on Open vSwich and Floodlight. Trace driven experiments on our prototype show that an effective
switch grouping is easy to maintain in multi tenant clouds and the central controller can be
significantly shielded by staying lazy, with its workload

Income Base Apportionment Formula
Mission: To assess current expense apportionment calculations in comparison to income base
apportionment, GCFA (as charged by the 2012 General Conference) presents the attached information
for review. Current Apportionment Formula: Currently, conference s net expenditures calculate
apportionment amounts. In theory, all 501(c)3 entities like The United Methodist Church should give
an estimate of local church expenses equal to their income. To define the apportionable amount, Net
Expenses (E) expresses the total church expenses less deductions: benevolent giving, capital
expenditures, payments to debt, and a portion of apportionments paid to the conference. Next, the
Base Rate percentage (p), approved by General Conference, is summed with the i factor (i) and finally
multiplied by Net Expenses (E) to define conference apportionments. The Formula is expressed
below: A = E * (p + i) Method: Charged by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conferences with higher than average income, either grow or give at a higher than average rate.
Changing to an income base expense model will cut their ability to give. Thus, redistribution would
come at the cost of previous growth and giving. Summary: GCFA s review of an income base model
illustrates the feasibility of a simplistic and transparent apportionment formula. While the idea behind
an income base model remains relevant, the practicality and feasibility of its implementation is
reduced by its abilities to work best through complexity. Thus, if the income base model works best
through complexity and if the main idea behind the change was for a simplistic model, then why
change the model? Variance of Models: This report focuses on the variances between an income base
model and an expense base model. Listed below are an explanation of each model and the factors that
affect them. For all income base models, Statistical Table 3 accounts for income used for annual

within the Black Church that one encounters a Divine that affirms and respects Black bodies,

(EU) followed suit, building international momentum to combat climate change. The President of the
United States (POTUS) released, Presidential Memorandum Climate Change and National Security on
21 September 2016. It directs Federal agencies to consider climate change impacts in all national
security doctrine, policies, and plans. To maintain momentum into the next administration, the
memorandum also requires agencies to specify climate change consideration objectives, milestones,

Analysis Of The Passing Of Grandison
The Passing of Grandison and Get Out : Satiric commentary on sable issues
In Charles W. Chesnutt s short story The Passing of Grandison (1899) and Jordan Peele s social
thriller film Get Out (2017), the sensitivity of race relations and the nature of prejudice is explored by
challenging the audience s internalized notions of race by the effective use of satire. The Passing of
Grandison is about a young man named Dick Owens who attempted to free a slave to impress a
woman and the cunning methods the slave Grandison took to obtain real freedom. Chesnutt crafts a
story in which the audience is deluded into believing until the very end that the slave Grandison is
simply a one dimensional character playing the role of the happy subservient. Get Out is a film about a
young black man, Chris Washington, meeting his white girlfriend s parents for the first time, who later
turn out to be psychotic body snatchers preying on black people and auctioning them off to the highest
bidder. Through the intricacies of the story, Peele presents a critique of incredulous white liberals
whose interest in other cultures borderlines into obsession and condescending objectification which
highlights the dangerousness of believing racism is a thing of the past (Get Out).
Get Out chronicles the unsettling events surrounding a young black man, Chris Washington, meeting

Falsely accusing someone of a crime is no joke and it is also considered as a crime. But what happens
if the accuser strongly believed the individual they are accusing really committed the sinful act?
Briony Tallis, the main character of the novel Atonement by Ian McEwan, was exactly in this position
when she was thirteen. She had witness a sexual tension between her sister, Cecilia, and their
housemaid s son, Robbie through a series of events Briony misunderstood. McEwan then revealed that
the narrator for part three is no one else but Briony. While some are shocked about it, others are well
prepared about the big revelation at the end. McEwan prepared them by making sure the readers know
how Briony aspires to be a great writer when she was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, all the readers know that Robbie did not assaulted Lola and 5 years later Briony knew
greatly she was mistaken and is compensating for her fallacious testimonies that ruined Cecilia and
Robbie s life. The way McEwan made Briony acts around Cecilia and Robbie when she supposedly
met them at the apartment, vividly shows her guilt of what she has done. She is scared just by the
presence of Robbie, and the way Cecilia sarcastically laughs made her afraid questioning what she has
done to her sister. McEwan displayed the difference in their relationship between now and then.
Briony s confident character at the beginning is gone and she now seems more fragile and weak. She
endured watching the Marshall wedding as well facing the fact head on that she was wrong about
accusing Robbie. This gives the sense that the novel is about Briony and not really the couple. It is
about her

Challenges Facing Canadian Organizations
Canada. They are the world s largest producer of newsprint, nickel, and asbestos. Montreal, Toronto,

Even though Canada is a leader and a top competitor around the world in regards to business,
resources, talent, and innovation, there are still many challenges facing Canadian organizations. In this

Not only is there internet, many companies also have intranet, which are a private information
network within the company. The mix of telecommunicating and intranet increase communication and
information knowledge between members of an organization to also increase productivity. Automation
is the automatically controlled operation of a process, system, or equipment by mechanical or
electronic devices. The two major reasons for automation is speed and better service. In some capital
equipment items, Canada takes six to twelve months to make, where Japan takes six to twelve weeks.
(Schwind, 2010, p. 10) This is a major challenge that Canada must face. The service factor is
continuous. A machine is programed to do the same exact operation over and over to ensure quality
and effectiveness, where as a human might make an error on one or more areas of the operation.
Another challenge with technology and automation is cost. Machines are expensive and not all
companies can afford the high tech equipment, and therefore must rely on manual labour.
Demographic challenges include the changes associated with the labour force, such as education
levels, age, and participation levels which occur slowly and are usually known in advance. The
number of female workers in the workforce has greatly increased over the last three decades, and with
that so has the way organizations are ran. In the past the men worked and the women stayed home and

Wanted by Caroline B. Cooney
Alice Robie is a 15 year old girl. She was visiting her father during one of her custody weekends . She

they eat ice cream most of the time. In my opinion I felt that the main character took to long to

Essay On Health Disparities
Disparities in health care are significant in the United States and the root causes are multifactorial.
Social determinants of health such as poverty, socioeconomic status, access to resources, and patient
education influence health outcomes. Emerging data has shown health literacy as a potential
contributor to health disparities that impact health and lifestyle choices (Yee, 2017). Health literacy,
characterized as a skill set necessary to understand health information, involves communication skills
of both patient and health professionals as well as cultural factors. For example, low health literacy
has been shown to contribute to health disparities, especially in racial and ethnic minorities (Hill
Briggs, 2012). As a result of an increasingly diverse ethnic/cultural and racial ... Show more content

According to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy, only 12 percent of American adults have
proficient literacy in written materials and the greatest decline occurred among White adults and
persons with a high school diploma, GED, or vocational education (Hill Briggs, 2012). It has been
shown that sufficient, functional health literacy positively impacts health outcomes and influences
individuals overall well being (Friedman, 2006). Furthermore, health numeracy, or understanding
calculations, math concepts, and displays to make proper health decisions, affects patient s ability to
manage self care and chronic disease management (Koh, 2015). For example, a person s ability to
measure medications accurately, calculate blood sugar levels, and understand nutrition labels can be
affected by poor health numeracy. These findings suggest an interventional approach needed to assess
health information for all patients with varying health literacy and numeracy

Civic Engagement And Political Participation

Participation in Government
Yes, government should be in the business of promoting civic engagement and political participation.
Why? Because people usually chose not to vote because they don t believe that their votes matter or
they are not educated on the material that the government is conveying to them. When it comes to
politics, America has it good. Citizens that are over eighteen are able to vote on various different
political stances. Americans can voice their opinions on what should or shouldn t happen in the United
States. In many countries, people don t have a choice on what goes on in their government.

The endocrinology of reproduction is vital reproductive machineries that drive reproductive processes.
This study was designed using rabbits as animal model to assess impact of Moringa oliefera on female

as contraceptives interferes with pituitary gonadotropin secretions which affects the functionality of
ovary by direct inhabiting ovulation and interference with fertilization, implantation and gestation or

plant responsible for the observed dose related reduction of key reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and
oestradial) may be related to flavonoids, glucosinolates, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and
cinnamates which was reported to as effective agent in plants use for abortion ((Tarafder , 1982; Nath

Train Dreams Summary
In the fictional story Train Dreams, Denis Johnson has us follow the main character, Robert Grainier,
through his best and worst times of his life. Grainier is part of a family of three, him, his wife, and
daughter. With the death of his wife and daughter, he tries to come to terms with these deaths and

The Effects Of Pollution On The Air Quality Standard
The two biggest air pollution in California are transportation such as cars and trucks and stationary
sources such as oil refineries and industry facilities. Two major pollutions are ozone and fine
particulate materials. Ozone also known as smog. The cause of smog includes the automobile and
industrial processes that involve combustion of fossil fuels. The products of fossil fuel consumption
are sulfur dioxide, particles, ground level ozone, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and lead. Ground
level ozone formed when nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds heat up under the sunlight
to produce ozone. These petroleum based fuels mainly come from burning fossil fuels such as
gasoline and diesel: pollution that comes from our power plants and industrial facilities and from the
exhaust pipes of our cars, trucks, ships and trains. US air quality standard is similar to World Health

CHECKING THE OPERATING COSTS FOR LOS ANGELES
Using Solver amp; Excel, when we solve the Transportation problem for the supply from Oil Wells to
the refineries, we get the following Optimal Solution. The Minimum cost is $ 880 Million.
Now, we look at the minimum operating costs incurred when we ship the petroleum from the Oil
Refineries to the Distribution Centres.
Following is the solution:
The Cost incurred after shipping the petroleum to the Distribution Centres is $1570 Million. So, the
minimum cost that Texago Corporation will have to incur when they set up their refinery at Los
Angeles will be 880+1570 i.e. $2450 Million.
OPERATING COSTS FOR GALVESTON
Now, for Galveston the Shipping Costs for transporting Oil from Wells to the Refinery will be $920
Million, as solved in Excel.
Now the Minimum Shipping Costs that will be incurred when transporting Petroleum from Galveston
to the Distribution Centres turns out to be $1630 Million.
The Total Cost that has to be incurred will be $2550 Million.

The Labor Market Of The Labour Market
The labour market is defined as the place where employment and employee interaction take place,
otherwise known as Job Sector . In the labour market, employers and companies whether big or small
always compete to hire the best skilled, highly motivated and hard working of individuals to compete
for the best job available. (Economic, 2015). A labour market in complex terms is defined as an
economic function which supplies different level of demand and supply of labour (Webster, 2015).
E.g. labour demand is essentially the firm s demand for labour whether high or low depending on
certain factors influencing the demand whereas supply is often explained via the individual employee

Hardscaping Natural Environments
Part of creating an atmosphere of curb appeal for your home or business property is deciding where
your focus should be on: hardscaping or greenscaping your surroundings.
Our post below covers the pros and cons of each aspect of such a curb appeal project, and hopefully, it
will make your decisions ones that will give you the lawn and surrounding area of your dreams.
Hardscaping:
Comprised of utilizing rocks, stones, concrete, wood and other man made or natural materials, this
form of decor for your lawn is readily used to enhance the visual and environmental impact of your
lawn. Some examples might be patio walkways, cement driveways and even cedar gazebos in the back

However, in the case of using wooden decks or a gazebo, staining may be needed. Maintaining
hardscapes involves little work. The same goes for laying gravel on a driveway, but it does have to be
replenished from time to time with the crushing weight of cars running over the gravel.
3 All Creatures Big And Small
If you re looking to deter wildlife, especially bees, from setting up homestead on your home property,
then going with a hardscape mindset is the route for you.
4 Water Consideration
While it doesn t necessarily require water, per say, hardscapes will need some kind of drainage system
that will avoid accumulated pools of water or worse yet, minor flooding. Either of both conditions can
lead to an eventual mosquito infestation and breeding ground.
Greenscaping:
Involving the creation of a sustainable landscape from the soil up, this can be as simple as laying new
sod soil, adding passive solar power such as planting a tree at the right angles or even creating a yard
with recyclable rain water run offs.
1 Costs
In contrast to hardscaping, greenscapes are relatively inexpensive to begin; however, there is a
maintenance cost for nurturing and replenishing the green landscape: yard cutting, fertilizing, pruning
and other costs that add up over

rechargeable batteries have higher initially cost, but they have a much lower total cost of ownership
and environmental impact since they can be recharged inexpensively many times before replaced
[wiki]. Therefore, rechargeable battery has a potential in commercial field. The three main targets for
rechargeable batteries are portable electronics, power

1.) In a plant having two carried alleles for the color of a flower in a gene, with P for purple and p for
white, the three possible combinations which might exist in any one plant are PP making a purple
plant, pp to make a white plant, or Pp resulting in a hybrid plant. 2.) Out of the genotypes PP, Pp, pp,
the resultant flower colors are (as described above in exercise 1) are purple (for PP,) purple or purplish
white (for Pp likely purple as it is dominant, or a mixture of the colors,) or white (for the case of pp.)
PP and pp, the purple and white flowers, are referred to as homozygous. In the case of PP this is
homozygous dominant, and in the case of pp this is homozygous recessive. The case of Pp must be
considered different, and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Answering the second question, there is a 50 percent chance of a colorblind son; answering the third
question, there is a 25 percent change of colorblind daughter. (Fourth:) There is a change of normal
vision: a 25 percent of a carrier. (Fifth:) According to the square, there is no chance of a normal son.
7.) A: The genotypes are TTCC, TTCc, TtCC, and TtCc. B: The genotypes are ttCC and ttCC. C: The
genotypes are TTcc and Ttcc. D: This genotype would be ttcc. E: This genotype would be TtCc. F:
Such a person could produce TT, Tt, tt, CC, Cc, and cc gametes. Critical questions 1.) The difference
between incomplete dominance and codominance is the level of sharing. In codominance the
dominant trait is shared, while in incomplete dominance the dominant is not completely expressed in
the genotype. Though the result may be similar in the phenotype, the cause of this is different, which
is a reason that this concept is so important to understand. 2.) When a trait is sex linked, this means
that it is linked to the chromosome of the gender. This does not mean the trait is passed through sex
(however it is,) but rather refers to the X and Y chromosomes. Some traits are only specific to Y
chromosomes or a combination of X and Y (or not be expressed when only on

to the lynx which also eats roe, deer, rodents, and birds. Next is the omnivore cycle it starts at the stag
beetles and they eat leaves, fruit, flower, and smaller bugs, and dying wood. After 30 years animals are
slowly returning to the Chernobyl site, to their original habitats. There are numbers of
moose, roe, deer, red tailed, deer, and wild boar living in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. There are

A Certain Lady Poem Analysis
The poem A Certain Lady is consisted of twelve stanzas with two lines in each stanza. Parker uses an
iambic pentameter in this poem. I think that she uses this type of structure to create a rhythmic feel.
Parker wants this rhythmic feel to display how the speaker was talking to her husband. The iambic
pentameter is not relevant in lines twelve and twenty four. These two lines do not follow the iambic
pentameter due to the speaker thinking that her husband will never know how she feels or what she is
doing. This poem consists of an end rhyme and has a rhyme scheme of ABAB. An example of a
rhyme that is used in the poem is in line one, which ends in head and line three which ends in red .
In the poem, you do not obtain a sense of who the speaker is until well into the poem. By just reading
the title I thought that the speaker of the poem would have been a guy talking about a certain lady in
his life that he is in love with. I soon developed a sense of who the real speaker was in line three, in
which is stated and paint my mouth for you a fragrant red . After I read that line, I soon started to see
images of a woman with red lipstick. In my mind, I started to think that the speaker of this story seems
to be a woman in her 20 s or 30 s and she seems to be talking to her husband. By reading the entire
poem and the imagery that Parker uses, I had determined that the woman was talking about infidelity.
This poem consists of imagery to make the reader create pictures in their mind about what is going on.
An example of imagery that Parker uses is in line two which states eager lips and in line six which
says raptured eyes are used to describe the speaker s husband and how he was glad to be talking about
his infidelity with her. Parker is painting a scene in which the woman is trying to seduce her husband,
however, he does not care about her; he cares more about the other women he has been with. The
details Parker uses portrays the speaker in my mind to be quiet a person and not saying anything to her
husband though he is hurting her, which is why I do not like the husband because he does not see what
is right in front of him. Readers can infer that the woman is not happy as soon as she states and all the

mysteries of Vampires and evil in the world, this is portrayed through the diverse array of character s
perspectives. It contains many text types including journal entries, letters and newspaper articles. The
reader is taken on the quest alongside the characters to locate Count Dracula. This novel uses many
gothic horror elements such as castles, isolation, eeriness, mystery and graveyards. Two events which
demonstrate gothic horror conventions are Jonathan experience of Count Dracula s Castle and the
graveyard scene.

The Harvest Box Is An Australian Organic Foods Retailer
As foreign investment and international trade continue to drive globalisation, many companies are
excited by the prospect of entering international marketplaces. However, due to the unique nature of
overseas marketplaces, it is oftentimes difficult to identify which nations will support business growth,
and those who will not. As a result, many companies employ the global expertise of Ryan
International Consulting (RIC), to assist in making these challenging decisions. One such company,
Harvest Box, has expressed intent to expand into either Malaysia or the Philippine s market. This
report aims to determine which nation will best suit Harvest Box; based on a series of socioeconomic,
political and business related conclusions and, from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Philippines produces a similar annual GDP of approximately A$388.81B with growth, surpassing
Malaysia, at 5.9% (World Bank, 2015). However, the Philippine economy involves itself less in
international trading than Malaysia; reflected in a mere Current Account Balance of A$262M (CEIC,
2016). Whilst both economies seem very similar, Malaysia has less than one third the population of
the Philippines (World Bank, 2016). This indicates, as illustrated by Graph 2.1, that Malaysia s GDP
per capita, GDP minus the effect of population, is significantly larger than the Philippines (Economist
Intelligence Unit, 2017). Therefore, total economic efficiency and productivity in Malaysia is
considerably higher than the Philippines; with a smaller population producing greater output. This
high economic efficiency, which creates wealth and jobs, also increases levels of employment (CIA,
2017). This sizeable productivity showcased by Malaysia assures further growth and continuation of
economic stability. Both nations have also reduced interest rates through monetary policy (Global
Rates, 2017). This will likely lead to increased borrowing, investment and expenditure; stimulating the
economy (Boundless, 2016). Malaysia is, hence, a more stable economy, with lower current and long
term risks involved for businesses looking to enter the market. RIC classifies Harvest Box

Yb-49 History
In 1946, the US Air Force began a program in secret, a program that would push the boundaries of
aviation into the stratosphere. It was a hugely expensive undertaking which would require creative
accounting and the full financial strength of the US government. Tens of thousands of engineering
man hours, many lives, years and careers would be consumed in the attempt to unravel the secrets of
flight at supersonic speed. The program was conducted in relative obscurity, far from prying eyes, in
California s high desert at Muroc Army Air Base. The base was renamed Edwards Air Force Base in
1949 in honor of Capt. Glen Edwards, who was killed in a crash of the YB 49 flying wing a year
earlier. The YB 49 wasn t intended to break speed records, it was an airplane that broke every
configuration rule in an effort to improve efficiency and carry more bombs farther on a given load of
fuel. Bomb load and range were the measures used to determine the value of a bomber in our most
recent conflict, WWII. The YB 49 was a concept far ahead of its time and would reemerge in the
future as the B 2 when control technology would catch up with the concept. It was a tailless,
underpowered flying wing that suffered for the lack of the computers required to ... Show more

Airplanes could be configured in many unusual arrangements. If I got the center of gravity in the right
place, the small tail could go on the front and the big wing could be installed at the back. I didn t know
it, but this configuration is called a canard. It would be made popular decades later by a man named
Burt Rutan, who designed a number of efficient, full size kit airplanes with this configuration. You
may know him as the first man to successfully build a manned homemade spaceship, engine and all,
send it into space, then do it again a few weeks later. Spaceship One, a spaceship designed by another

Avant Garde
Given the question from Tuesday s class, I was interested in applying the Avant Garde theory to
Beowulf. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a
culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in
analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in
writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. Christian
concepts may have become incorporated by a number of poets as they transferred the piece orally after
Christianity became common in Europe. This idea that Christian and pagan values are a point of
contention within the story is also mentioned on pages 33 and ... Show more content on

The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story of
creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would likely
not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as
an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator.
Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This
seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40,
lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of
pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to
praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269 1273, Beowulf is described as having
called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330,
Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that the burning of his hall and the surrounding
lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of ancient law. These ideas of the creator may have
been inserted into the poem in favor of other ideas that contained pagan concepts and were less
relatable to the people of the time. The final example of this mixing of Christian and

  • 2. Women s Role In The Victorian Era Oppression Of Women Victorian age female oppression is frequently blotted out from discussion. The maltreatment of women has played a key role in society since the conception of humankind. The Victorian age, however, is what particularly peaks my interest. The treatment of women in that era was entirely centralized around the understanding that women were subordinate to men. With their deeply embedded concepts of misogyny, we have thus arrived at the current roles women play in society today. It is because of the role this era still plays in the evaluation of women, that I would choose to teach of the Victorian Era oppression of women during Reed s Paideia education week. The fundamental function of a woman in the 19th century was childbirth. Believing firmly in the lifelong energy levels a human contained, women were not allowed to focus on much except childbirth. Reproduction was their key purpose of existing. Education was minimal, due to the fact that learning might decrease their focus on multiplying. With only the slightest of education, these women were trapped in a cycle of child rearing. Many women went into relationships with no previous knowledge of sex and were then thrown into situations with predetermined spouses. Lee died on Oct. 12, 1870, however his legacy lived on even in modern day.5 What many consider weaknesses Lee were actually some of his biggest strengths; He was considerate of others, and his politeness affected his total obedience to his orders. He entrusted much of his discretion to subordinates who most would consider not capable of handling it, but but he saw the true nature of their genius. Despite these weaknesses , many historians maintain that Lee was the most capable commander of the Civil War. A great general and a great man, Robert E. Lee was a fitting symbol of the South as well as an American hero. Both general and soldiers acknowledged and embraced their reliance upon each other long before their deeds passed into memory, history, and legend.2 Even though Robert E. • 6. The Importance Of The Ancient Greek Olympic Games The Importance of the Olympic Games Naked men running around competing against each other was once a common thing in the Olympics. Even though it sounds pretty gross, it was a true thing that happened in ancient times. The ancient Greek Olympics, although very long ago, have had a lasting effect on our society today. According to World History teacher Laron Johnson, the Greek Empire started in 8th Century BC. The Greeks have always valued competition; they constantly fought with each other as well as working together to fight against other peoples (Johnson). They have given us a lot of our modern things. Thus, the ancient Greek Olympics have had an impact on our modern society in global unity, sporting events, and our obsession with sports. The Olympics have always been a way to bring people together. Even when the city states were fighting each other, they put aside their differences and competed peacefully. Mark Cartwright states, The Games started with a procession which went from the host town of Elis to Olympia...and on arrival at Olympia all athletes and officials swore an oath to follow the established rules of the competitions and to compete with honour and respect (Cartwright). Basically, the athletes were promoting unity among the city states by swearing to uphold their oath of truce during the games. This unity has come into our modern games when athletes from warring countries can enjoy one another s company, even if their countries hate each other. After failing to receive a contribution from the Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway), the three Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between the three of them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas investments. In fear of the United States taking over the northern half on the continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a conference being held in Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a delegation that had not been invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to the Conference and shared their ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. In a little less than 10 years, Wal Mart had 38 locations and was opening two stores per year. In 1970, the company started trading in the New York Stock Exchange. By 1979, the company announced a record $1billion sales and it became the first company to do so. Wal Mart reached record after record during those years, and by the end of 1989, Wal Mart reported after tax profits of $1billlion. Wal Mart now has become a symbol of the United States, and it is the biggest employer in the world with approximately 2.2 million workers with operations in 27 different countries. Wal Mart s revenue is gargantuan; they were ranked number one by Fortune Magazine in 2001, with a revenue of $219.8bn. At this point, Wal Mart sales are around $1billlion per day. The incredible rise of Wal Mart from a little store in Arkansas to one of the biggest companies todayis astonishing; however, it has not come without its problems. During the early 1980 s, employees tried to unionize in one of the distribution centers in Arkansas. Walton told the workers that if they unionize, he would remove the employees profit sharing plan and replace them with other employees. It is already his second term as a president.( News, B. (2016, August 5)) The country went over a lot of things, and the history of democratic political system is not very long for them. English and Dutch colonized South Africa in the seventeenth century. After South Africa got its independence from England, Afrikaner National Party became a majority. Network Control For Cloud Data Centers LazyCtrl: Scalable Network Control for Cloud Data Centers Kai Zheng∗, Lin Wang†, Baohua Yang∗, Yi Sun†, Yue Zhang∗, Steve Uhlig‡ ∗IBM Research †Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences ‡Queen Mary University of London Abstract The advent of software defined networking enables flexible, reliable and feature rich control planes for data center networks. However, the tight coupling of centralized control and complete visibility leads to a wide range of issues among which scalability has risen to prominence. We observe that data center traffic is usually highly skewed and thus edge switches can be grouped according to traffic locality. As a result, the workload of the central controller could be highly reduced if we carry out distributed control inside those groups. Based on the above observation, we present LazyCtrl, a novel hybrid control plane design for data center networks. LazyCtrl aims at bringing laziness to the central controller by dynamically devolving most of the control tasks to independent switch groups to process frequent intra group events using distributed control mechanisms, while handling rare inter group or other specified events by the controller. We implement LazyCtrl and build a prototype based on Open vSwich and Floodlight. Trace driven experiments on our prototype show that an effective switch grouping is easy to maintain in multi tenant clouds and the central controller can be significantly shielded by staying lazy, with its workload ... Income Base Apportionment Formula Mission: To assess current expense apportionment calculations in comparison to income base apportionment, GCFA (as charged by the 2012 General Conference) presents the attached information for review. Current Apportionment Formula: Currently, conference s net expenditures calculate apportionment amounts. In theory, all 501(c)3 entities like The United Methodist Church should give an estimate of local church expenses equal to their income. To define the apportionable amount, Net Expenses (E) expresses the total church expenses less deductions: benevolent giving, capital expenditures, payments to debt, and a portion of apportionments paid to the conference. Next, the Base Rate percentage (p), approved by General Conference, is summed with the i factor (i) and finally multiplied by Net Expenses (E) to define conference apportionments. While the idea behind an income base model remains relevant, the practicality and feasibility of its implementation is reduced by its abilities to work best through complexity. Thus, if the income base model works best through complexity and if the main idea behind the change was for a simplistic model, then why change the model? I sighed, wishing there was something exciting to do. My mother told me that I should go outside and play, but I had already played at our playground what seemed like a million times already. The playground was only ten yards away from our small 800 square foot apartment, in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska. This was a convenience to some kids, but to me it was aggravating. • 22. Analysis Of The Passing Of Grandison The Passing of Grandison and Get Out : Satiric commentary on sable issues In Charles W. Chesnutt s short story The Passing of Grandison (1899) and Jordan Peele s social thriller film Get Out (2017), the sensitivity of race relations and the nature of prejudice is explored by challenging the audience s internalized notions of race by the effective use of satire. The Passing of Grandison is about a young man named Dick Owens who attempted to free a slave to impress a woman and the cunning methods the slave Grandison took to obtain real freedom. Chesnutt crafts a story in which the audience is deluded into believing until the very end that the slave Grandison is simply a one dimensional character playing the role of the happy subservient. Get Out is a film about a young black man, Chris Washington, meeting his white girlfriend s parents for the first time, who later turn out to be psychotic body snatchers preying on black people and auctioning them off to the highest bidder. Through the intricacies of the story, Peele presents a critique of incredulous white liberals whose interest in other cultures borderlines into obsession and condescending objectification which highlights the dangerousness of believing racism is a thing of the past (Get Out). Get Out chronicles the unsettling events surrounding a young black man, Chris Washington, meeting his white girlfriend s parents for the first time. The same goes for laying gravel on a driveway, but it does have to be replenished from time to time with the crushing weight of cars running over the gravel. 3 All Creatures Big And Small If you re looking to deter wildlife, especially bees, from setting up homestead on your home property, then going with a hardscape mindset is the route for you. 4 Water Consideration While it doesn t necessarily require water, per say, hardscapes will need some kind of drainage system that will avoid accumulated pools of water or worse yet, minor flooding. Either of both conditions can lead to an eventual mosquito infestation and breeding ground. Greenscaping: Involving the creation of a sustainable landscape from the soil up, this can be as simple as laying new sod soil, adding passive solar power such as planting a tree at the right angles or even creating a yard with recyclable rain water run offs. 1 Costs

Proposal summary: Impact Statement: Project Description: The future challenges in energy storage technology Rechargeable Battery. Introduction Background Li ion rechargeable battery Energy is the lifeblood of modern society, but the major energy supplies are fossil fuel generation, which leads to air pollution and environmental issues. Then, there is an increasing need to develop renewable energy to balance the demand and supply. Electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles will be the effective method to decrease fossil fuel usage and rechargeable batteries are one of the main strategies to power these vehicles. [tarascon] Figure1. Schematic illustration of the first Li ion battery [123123] Rechargeable battery is one of the electrochemical energy storage technologies, which can be charged and discharged into a load and recharged many times. Compare to disposable batteries the rechargeable batteries have higher initially cost, but they have a much lower total cost of ownership and environmental impact since they can be recharged inexpensively many times before replaced [wiki]. Therefore, rechargeable battery has a potential in commercial field. The three main targets for rechargeable batteries are portable electronics, power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a plant having two carried alleles for the color of a flower in a gene, with P for purple and p for white, the three possible combinations which might exist in any one plant are PP making a purple plant, pp to make a white plant, or Pp resulting in a hybrid plant. 2.) Out of the genotypes PP, Pp, pp, the resultant flower colors are (as described above in exercise 1) are purple (for PP,) purple or purplish white (for Pp likely purple as it is dominant, or a mixture of the colors,) or white (for the case of pp.) PP and pp, the purple and white flowers, are referred to as homozygous. In the case of PP this is homozygous dominant, and in the case of pp this is homozygous recessive. The case of Pp must be considered different, and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In codominance the dominant trait is shared, while in incomplete dominance the dominant is not completely expressed in the genotype. Though the result may be similar in the phenotype, the cause of this is different, which is a reason that this concept is so important to understand. 2.) When a trait is sex linked, this means that it is linked to the chromosome of the gender. This does not mean the trait is passed through sex (however it is,) but rather refers to the X and Y chromosomes. • 48. A Certain Lady Poem Analysis The poem A Certain Lady is consisted of twelve stanzas with two lines in each stanza. Parker uses an iambic pentameter in this poem. I think that she uses this type of structure to create a rhythmic feel. Parker wants this rhythmic feel to display how the speaker was talking to her husband. The iambic pentameter is not relevant in lines twelve and twenty four. These two lines do not follow the iambic pentameter due to the speaker thinking that her husband will never know how she feels or what she is doing. This poem consists of an end rhyme and has a rhyme scheme of ABAB. An example of a rhyme that is used in the poem is in line one, which ends in head and line three which ends in red . In the poem, you do not obtain a sense of who the speaker is until well into the poem. By just reading the title I thought that the speaker of the poem would have been a guy talking about a certain lady in his life that he is in love with. I soon developed a sense of who the real speaker was in line three, in which is stated and paint my mouth for you a fragrant red . After I read that line, I soon started to see images of a woman with red lipstick. In my mind, I started to think that the speaker of this story seems to be a woman in her 20 s or 30 s and she seems to be talking to her husband. By reading the entire poem and the imagery that Parker uses, I had determined that the woman was talking about infidelity. This poem consists of imagery to make the reader create pictures in their mind about what is going on. An example of imagery that Parker uses is in line two which states eager lips and in line six which says raptured eyes are used to describe the speaker s husband and how he was glad to be talking about his infidelity with her. Parker is painting a scene in which the woman is trying to seduce her husband, however, he does not care about her; he cares more about the other women he has been with. The details Parker uses portrays the speaker in my mind to be quiet a person and not saying anything to her husband though he is hurting her, which is why I do not like the husband because he does not see what is right in front of him. Readers can infer that the woman is not happy as soon as she states and all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Harvest Box Is An Australian Organic Foods Retailer As foreign investment and international trade continue to drive globalisation, many companies are excited by the prospect of entering international marketplaces. However, due to the unique nature of overseas marketplaces, it is oftentimes difficult to identify which nations will support business growth, and those who will not. As a result, many companies employ the global expertise of Ryan International Consulting (RIC), to assist in making these challenging decisions. One such company, Harvest Box, has expressed intent to expand into either Malaysia or the Philippine s market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Philippines produces a similar annual GDP of approximately A$388.81B with growth, surpassing Malaysia, at 5.9% (World Bank, 2015). However, the Philippine economy involves itself less in international trading than Malaysia; reflected in a mere Current Account Balance of A$262M (CEIC, 2016). Whilst both economies seem very similar, Malaysia has less than one third the population of the Philippines (World Bank, 2016). This indicates, as illustrated by Graph 2.1, that Malaysia s GDP per capita, GDP minus the effect of population, is significantly larger than the Philippines (Economist Intelligence Unit, 2017). Therefore, total economic efficiency and productivity in Malaysia is considerably higher than the Philippines; with a smaller population producing greater output. This high economic efficiency, which creates wealth and jobs, also increases levels of employment (CIA, 2017). This sizeable productivity showcased by Malaysia assures further growth and continuation of economic stability. Both nations have also reduced interest rates through monetary policy (Global Rates, 2017). This will likely lead to increased borrowing, investment and expenditure; stimulating the economy (Boundless, 2016). Malaysia is, hence, a more stable economy, with lower current and long term risks involved for businesses looking to enter the market. RIC classifies Harvest Box ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Yb-49 History In 1946, the US Air Force began a program in secret, a program that would push the boundaries of aviation into the stratosphere. It was a hugely expensive undertaking which would require creative accounting and the full financial strength of the US government. Tens of thousands of engineering man hours, many lives, years and careers would be consumed in the attempt to unravel the secrets of flight at supersonic speed. The program was conducted in relative obscurity, far from prying eyes, in California s high desert at Muroc Army Air Base. The base was renamed Edwards Air Force Base in 1949 in honor of Capt. Glen Edwards, who was killed in a crash of the YB 49 flying wing a year earlier. The YB 49 wasn t intended to break speed records, it was an airplane that broke every configuration rule in an effort to improve efficiency and carry more bombs farther on a given load of fuel. Bomb load and range were the measures used to determine the value of a bomber in our most recent conflict, WWII. The YB 49 was a concept far ahead of its time and would reemerge in the future as the B 2 when control technology would catch up with the concept. It was a tailless, underpowered flying wing that suffered for the lack of the computers required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 52. Avant Garde Given the question from Tuesday s class, I was interested in applying the Avant Garde theory to Beowulf. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. Christian concepts may have become incorporated by a number of poets as they transferred the piece orally after Christianity became common in Europe. This idea that Christian and pagan values are a point of contention within the story is also mentioned on pages 33 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story of creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would likely not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator. Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40, lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269 1273, Beowulf is described as having called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330, Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that the burning of his hall and the surrounding lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of ancient law. These ideas of the creator may have been inserted into the poem in favor of other ideas that contained pagan concepts and were less relatable to the people of the time. The final example of this mixing of Christian and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
