Blindness In King Lear By Traglear
Life is all about sight in two senses. Our eyes present us with the world in its entirety bright
lights and dancing colors, evil foes and dark corners, and an unyielding perception of the truth
before us. However, the stark truth we see through our eyes excludes the forces our retinas cannot
detect. No matter how bright the sun, our eyes will never show us the shadowed intentions of
another, and no matter how vivid the coloration, our eyes can never perfectly paint the depth of
someone s love. Sometimes, as in the case of King Lear, a person s sight can blind them to the
realities their eyes do not reveal. King Lear s crooked sight not only leads him to misinterpret the
intentions of his three daughters and the sincerity of their affection,... Show more content on

Lear s gains the sight he lacked for so long. By being thrown aside emotionally from all that he
held dear, Lear sees the foolishness of his actions and realizes just how daft his ailing mind has
become. Although he faces his demises, Lear s mental exile leads him to be morally redeemed
once he sees his shortcomings and even begs for redemption when he cries when thou dost ask me
blessing, I ll kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness. In the fashion of a true hubris hero, Lear s
faults cost him his mortality, his emotional exile returns his sight and he faces the consequences of

The Mix Of Sexuality And Fear In The Film Interview With A...
I have had a long attraction to vampires ever since I was a young person. I remember watching
the movie INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994) for the first time, I was mesmerized.
Louis played by the actor Brad Pitt and Le Stat played by Tom Cruise were sophisticated,
worldly, exciting and most of all sexy. They were not sexy in the traditional sense of tall, dark
and handsome , more like pale and with sunken in eyes, but yet I found myself deeply attracted to
them. I found their lure and mysteriousness sexy and exciting. I found myself wanting more. I
often attribute my birthday being on Friday the 13th to my interest in what most people would
fear, my love for vampires. And even though you do not see any character in the film have sex.
The overwhelming sexual tension in the film makes the air thick. The common mix of sexuality
and fear is what fuels our desires towards the undead, and such is the case in Interview With a
Vampire. In my paper, I plan to discuss the mix of sexuality and fear in reference to the film.
I plan to break my body into several different parts:
1.An introduction to the film Interview With The Vampire.
The story of Louis. An 18th century plantation owner who is grieving the loss of his wife and
unborn child. Louis was extremely vulnerable during that time. Vulnerability is a recurring trope
used throughout the film and I plan to discuss how vulnerability plays into our fears and desires.
Le Stat preys on Louis vulnerability and this is how the

Dr. Mary D. Tranquillo February 17, 2013 Formulate a talent management strategy to encompass the
entire talent requirements of the organization. My organization is Common Grounds Coffeehouses.
Common Grounds are specialty coffeehouses that support the community by offering a place to

A lack of objective data on which to assess talent can result in an over reliance on personal
viewpoints which does not always result in the best talent being acquired (Onetest, 2007, para 2).
A review and acceptance process will follow were the candidate is studied further and ultimately
chosen or not chosen for continuation. If chosen the candidate is than placed on a development
path to prepare him or her for future roles in the organization. The first step toward development in
the Common Grounds organization is to assign a mentor. Having a mentor will help the candidate
gain insight into internal operations from a seasoned veteran employee. A seasoned employee can
enhance the development process because he or she is aware of and operates within the
organization s cultural parameters and has had proven success. Having a mentor also helps the
candidates learn how to build and maintain relationships. According to Ferrell, Fraedrich and Ferrell
(2011), developing and maintaining relationships is an essential aspect of business. The next step is
to attend workshops that offer exposure and solution training to real world situations. Finally,
special projects are given to ascertain the development of the candidate by their ability to apply their
knowledge in a practical setting. Though the identifying, assessing and development of potential

Examples Of Success Is Counted Sweetest By Emily Dickinson
Despite having great notoriety in the present day, Emily Dickinson was not always recognized as
a remarkable American poet. In fact, during her lifetime, Dickinson was seen as a reclusive
woman who had failed to meet society s expectations. Dickinson lived out her life unwed, on her
family homestead, rarely ever leaving the house, let alone her own room. As a result of her peculiar
life, Dickinson found poetryas an outlet to express her feelings, experiences, and philosophy. In her
reclusive state, Dickinson created nearly 1,800 poems, many of which challenged societal values of
the time. Because of Emily Dickinsons unique perspective on life, poetry served as an outlet for her
nonconformist statements on the society s expectations of women... Show more content on

In Dickinson s The Soul selects her own Society , she discusses the concept of individuality, and
how it affects people in relation to society. To begin, Dickinson writes The Soul selects her own
Society / Then shuts the Door / To her divine Majority / Present no more (1 4). The act of
someone selecting their own society , as described in this poem, is a metaphor for finding
purpose and meaning in life, and discovering what they wants to do with their time on Earth.
Shutting the door is a comment on commitment, and how one must be completely devoted to the
society in which they have selected. When compared to Dickinson s own life, it appears that this
poem is making a statement on Dickinson s choice to live in seclusion. The society in which
Dickinson has selected is the world of poetry, which she enjoys in the comfort of her own room.
She quite literally shuts the door behind her, as Dickinson rarely left her own room. As for her
commitment to writing poetry, the fact that she wrote nearly 1,800 poems makes it very clear
that she was devoted to the society she had selected. Furthermore, Dickinson writes Unmoved she
notes the Chariots / At her low Gate / Unmoved an Emperor be kneeling / Upon her Mat (5 8).
While it is not explicitly stated who the Emperor is, it can inferred that the Emperor is a man of
authority. This Emperor could quite possibly be a suitor

Cultural Imperialism In America
America has always been imperialistic. The existence of an imperialist America is a fact that cannot
be denied. During the war between America and Spain, America illustrated its imperialistic views
when it prompted the government to establish a plan to merge the remaining overseas territories:
the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Also, America has been in the process of converting their
domestic industries into a global empire, which has the potential to capture the world market,
acquire natural resources from foreign sources, and sell its surplus industrial agriculture. Overall,
America is imperialist and both historical and current events illustrate how America upholds

First of all, English, America s most widely spoken language, has become the world s lingua
franca, partially due to British imperialism but also because of American cultural imperialism. It is
an international language. In many countries such as Philippines, they believe that English is
superior and will provide more opportunities than their mother language. The Philippines uses
English in government, business, education, etc. rather than Tagalog. It, along with countless other
countries, has the mentality that if its people do not learn English, they will fall behind in global
development. Travelers come everywhere over the world also use English as their
communication. Also, America s pop culture has achieved extreme popularity; almost all of the
food or drinks that people eat everyday comes from America, for example, Starbucks, McDonald s,
Coca Cola, and more. Starbucks has spread all over the world and according to their website, there
are more than 21,000 stores in 65 countries worldwide ( Starbucks Coffee International ). In
addition, American clothing brands and pop music are more prevalent than ever. With that being

The hero of Beowulf, one of the oldest written Germanic epics, is a leader of the Geats and a
hero unlike all others before him. He is able to conquer foes that no one else can, and he charges
into every battle with the full force that he can muster, without any of the encumbrances that others
may have. His greatest desire is fame and glory, and he performs whatever difficult tasks he
believes will bring him closer to that goal. Beowulfs quest for power drives him to seek fame by
challenging Grendel, Grendel s mother, and finally a giant dragon that causes his death. Though
Beowulf s strength and courage lead him to power and its accompanying responsibility, the power

Hrothgar is a wise old king who has seen the dangers that the world has to offer. He warns
Beowulf that power and pride are not the only things worth seeking because they are temporary,
and when one s guard is down, other forces will attack viciously. Hrothgar recognizes Beowulf s
obsession with power and warns him against single mindedly pursuing it. However, Beowulf is
unable to restrain his desire for more power, even after he has achieved the glory that killing
Grendel had to offer and has been made the leader of a vast kingdom. He goes after the fire
breathing dragon at the end of the story, knowing that in his old age he is likely to die and leave
his land and kingdom unguarded. Though the dragon is threatening the Geats, he states his
reasons for fighting it: I risked my life / often when I was young. Now I am old, / but as king of
the people I shall pursue this fight / for the glory of winning (2511 2514). It is clear that Beowulf
knows he is risking his life even more so because of his old age and waned strength for the glory
of winning . He doesn t do it to save his citizens from the dragon, but to make his name eternal
and to win him a ticket into Valhalla for his bravery. This is not only a selfish action, but since he

Last Fragment, By Raymond Carver
And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call
myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth. This poem was called Last Fragment by
Raymond Carver it portrayed self actualization to seek or need something and having the
affirmation of it. The movie Birdman (2014) touches this but mainly with the issues of seeking
relevance and the need to have their own self image. In this essay, I claim that Birdman (2014)
gives an image on how narcissistic and obsessed people can become when it comes to being
relevant and staying relevant in the world every day and how the thirst of self image can take over
your mindset. I will be using mise en scene, editing, cinematography and sound to verify this...

around him and his career or the reinvention of his image. This scene is set in an open and closed
set and shows a range of emotion give the audience a different view into what Riggan may truly
feel about his situation and how it doesn t just affect him but the people around him as well. The
point of view for this scene was mainly on Sam and subjective toward Riggan, slowly as Sam
was ranting in anger the camera drew closer to her face and it was a smooth transition from Sam
being sneaky, angry and sympathetic towards what she said. The shot started off quick with the

truly feel about being relevant . Ending off the scene there was non diegetic sound making the

We Must Start Up Your Computer
Personally I love waiting fifteen minutes while my computer starts up. It s an excellent
opportunity for bonding just you and the black screen. But if you prefer to actually start working
before the thoughts of violence creep in, cleaning up your computer s Startup is a sure fire way to
shave off some of that bonding time . Every time your computerstarts, it loads a batch of programs.
Some of these programs are needed for the computer to run, but most have slipped themselves
into your auto loading queue so that they can accost you every time you start up your computer.
Messenger programs are notorious for this, but there are many other programs that will
automatically invite themselves into your Startup. And let s face it: nobody likes an uninvited
guest. But before you start getting trigger happy and exterminating programs left and right, you
need to give yourself a safety net. Go to Start All Programs Accessories System Tools System

Dexter Green:
Dexter Green is our main character throughout the story. Dexter is born in Keeble, a Minnesota
village, but he later moves to Black Bear village, which is located 50 miles further north. He is the
son of Black Bear village s second best grocer and a Bohemian mother. Growing up in a middle
class family, Dexter also works as a caddie in Sherry Island Golf Club, but unlike many of the
caddies he has a reasonable life and is not poor like many of them. Dexter appears like an ambitious
boy from the beginning, and with a work ethic beyond the usual for a 14 year old boy. One of his
main goals in life is to advance and make a lot of money, which will elevate him up from the
middle class that he has grown up in: He wanted not association ... Show more content on

He aspires towards social advancement and a life of wealth and success. In the first chapter of
the short story, Dexter s winter dreams are filled with high expectations associated with an
upper class life. A hundred times, he replays an imagination of a summer at Sherry Islands in
which he beats Mr. T. A. Hedrick in a marvellous golf match. Untiringly, he changes the details of
the matches. Sometimes he would win with laughable ease and sometimes he came up
magnificently from behind. His dreams of succeeding would lead to him being honoured by an
admiring crowd. He would by then have achieved an adequate status amongst the wealthiest of
patronisers at the Sherry Island Golf Club . The dreams and aspirations towards success and
prosperity make him quit his job already at the age of fourteen: I don t want to caddy any more..
I m too old, (page 1). He then hands in his A class badge , collected the salary that was due to
him and walked home to Black Bear Village. He is persuaded by his winter dreams and is willing
to sacrifice in order to achieve them: ... Dexter was unconsciously dictated to by his winter dreams ,
(page 2). He was not satisfied in just being associated with glimmerings things and glimmering
people, instead he wanted the glimmering things themselves. F. Scott Fitzgerald foreshadows the
development of Dexter s American dreams: His winter dreams happened to be concerned at first
with musings on the rich... (page 2). Later, his real intention and underlying American dream
would turn out to take shape in a relationship with Judy Jones rather than succeeding in business.
It is no secret that by the end of the short story, Dexter and Judy Jones are neither married nor
engaging in a relationship. His real American dream is lost. This very sequence and future of
Dexter s American dream is already revealed within the second paragraph of the short story. The
second paragraph deals

Analysis Of The Book Kamo No Chomei
Kamo No Chomei as opposed to Genji went out into seclusion on his own account, Genji was
exiled from the capital and went into seclusion to Suma, although he had a few servants he
imagines himself in solitude. In An Account of a Ten Foot Square Hut, the writer is basically
revealing that peace can be found in beauty, and beauty is found within the soul. Sometimes the
way of civilization(worry about reputation, ranking of social status, politics, love affairs, etc.)
interferes in finding spiritual peace. However, Genji was a man in love with beauty and the arts,
but he was never at peace with himself. He needed the company of other, specially the company
of beautiful women. He might have appeared self centered, selfish, and arrogant at first, but after
reading Chomei s story, one can see the good side of Genji s persona. Kamo No Chomei, An
Account of a Ten Foot Square Hut , recounts his life experience as a Buddhist in seclusion in the
depths of Mount Ohara, moreover in his late years move deeper in the depths of Mount Hino.
Kamo No Chomei went in seclusion escaping the horrors of the city capital. Chomei view the world
as beautiful yet perilous, hence he perceived life itself as difficult, especially city life. In his life,
he witnessed the worst the world can throw at you when nature rebels against it. He witnessed

Benefits Of Urban Community Gardening
Benefits of Urban Community Gardening
Melinda L. Smith
Charter Oak State College
Research question
What are the significant benefits offered through urban community gardening, which would cause
one to participate in the practice?
Thesis statement
There are many advantages to participation in community gardening because gardening reduces air
pollution and heat islands, helps in crime prevention, and most significant of all can affect one s
health.
Literature Review
Kathleen Wolf and Alicia Robbins presented different benefits in the article Metro Nature,
Environmental Health and Economic Value in an effort to present the economic values associated
with exposure to nature outline many of the positive advantages associated with ones exposure to
different elements of nature, such as urban greenspaces. Important health benefits relate to reduced
air pollution and increases to an active lifestyle. The additional physical activity helps to reduce
obesity, lower blood pressure, and produce extended life spans.
In the survey Allotment Gardening and Health: A Comparative Survey other positive benefits
associated with gardening are identified. While the article is written to compare the different
effects of allotment gardening compared to those people without allotments, generally the overall
advantages associated with gardening are recognized regardless of whether a gardener is working
with a small group of family members or a larger group of community gardeners.

Ballad Of Birmingham Analysis
On the surface level Dudley Randall s Ballad of Birmingham, is of a tragic event that has
misfortunately happened. A bombing on a church that has led to the loss of life. Looking at it s
history however, Randall forefronts all the emotions from the speaker with chilling diction and a
rhythmic pattern of rhyming the second and fourth line of each stanza. It brings to life a darker
truth, one that has yet to end. The poem begins first with a conversation between a mother and her
daughter Mother dear, may I go downtown instead of out to play, and march the streets of
Birminghamin a Freedom March today? This conversation occurred in 1963 Birmingham, Alabama
at the height of the Civil Rights era with Martin Luther King Jr. leading marchers advocating for
equality in one of the most racist places. The daughter asks her mother for permission to be a
part of the movement but the mother denies her as she fears for her safety No, baby, no, you
may not go, for the dogs are fierce and wild, and clubs and hoses, guns and jails aren t good for a
little child. The mother is aware that black people are not treated fairly in society but is also
aware of how those that try to retaliate against it are beaten near death or are seriously injured by
dogs or pressurized hoses. She does not want her daughter to be hurt or killed. Despite so, the
daughter tries to convince her mother to let her go, But mother, I won t be alone. Other children

Coach Boone outraged by a comment from Gerry Bertier calls all the players to the front of the

Meiosis In Children Lab Report
Introduction Ever wonder how children inherit their parent s traits? Though every human being is
unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities
occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that
contributes to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information
is shared through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same
inherited trait. Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis.

by breaking and reattaching to the other chromatids, this is called crossing over. After this each
ending chromosome varied in genetic information. The completion of the lab the results in 4
haploid cells, each with a unique set of chromosomes. Therefore, the outcome of meiosis will

Impact of Global Competition on Trade Unions
To what extent does global competition undermine the power of trade unions? The development
of free market economics has, since the 18th century, resulted in the spread of a set of ideas,
creeds and practices all over the developed and much of the developing world. Today, the
globalisation of trade, capital, technology and innovation has accelerated competitive conditions
for businesses all over the world. Globalisation may be defined as the opening of markets to the
forces of neoliberalism and capitalism; it is characterised by the free movement of people, talent,

As global competition has intensified in the last thirty or so years, companies are increasingly
looking to cut costs through outsourcing business functions, units and operations. Cheaper
labour and business costs pull businesses away from developed economies to developing markets
such as China, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, and so on. Technological advancements also mean that
businesses need to operate 24/7, seven days a week and e commerce is inevitable for any
company that wants to survive and thrive. The virtual corporation (Davidow and Malone, 1993)
has become common. It is built on a global invisible network of relationships, suppliers,
distributors and contractors, all coordinated out of an office somewhere in the world. The human
worker at the heart of such an enterprise is in a very different position to someone working in a
factory to company a hundred or two hundred years ago. Stable relationships, hierarchical orders,
lines of command, even the predictable routines of work, rest, and so on have all but disappeared
in the networked economy. Outsourcing clearly affects workers whose jobs and pay rely on those
functions which have now been outsourced. Further, such developments negatively affect morale
among workers who may still have jobs in house but who are nervous about whether they, too, face
redundancy and reduced hours and, therefore, reduced pay. Trade

Key Benefits Of A Secured Loan
In the current economic climate where loans are not so readily available as they used to be it is
useful to know what your options are before applying for a loan.
Secured Loans
A secured loan is a loan that is secured on your property, and is available to people that have a
mortgage on their property who also have enough equity left in their property. The maximum LTV
(loan to value) allowable if you have a good credit history is currently 85% i.e. the total of your
loan and mortgage debt must be less than 85% of the value of your property. One of the main
benefits of a secured loan is that the lender is more likely to lend you money because they put a
second charge on your property (behind the charge that your mortgage lender has in place) which
makes the loan a safer bet for them if you default on your repayments. You can also borrow larger
loan amounts for longer terms than you can with an unsecured loan.
Unsecured Loans
An unsecured loan is a loan that is underwritten based on your personal circumstances, i.e. the
lender will look at your income and your outgoings and they will also look at your credit record.
Although the loan is unsecured the lenders are more likley to lend to homeowners than they are to
tenants, for the simple reason that should you default on your repayments the lender will look to
put a charge on your property in order to recover their money. Unsecured loans are generally
available for smaller amounts usually up to ВЈ15,000 and for shorter terms

Thesis For Thirteen Reason Why
In the novel Thirteen Reason Why, written by Jay Asher, a highschool boy named Clay Jensen
receives a box full of tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl who committed suicide just two
weeks earlier. The book itself focuses on many important issues experienced by high schoolers
today including bullying and suicide. Jay Ashermakes sure to teach the reader important lessons that
can be applied to things that we do every day. The most meaningful lesson that Jay Asher is trying
to teach the reader is that although our actions may seem small and insignificant, they have much
bigger consequences than we would imagine.
The book begins with the protagonist, Clay Jensen, at the post office, mailing a package to someone
named Jenny. He mentions audiotapes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of how this lesson is developed is when Hannah explains to her audience that
by messing with a single part of her life, you mess with her entire life. And when you mess with
one part of a person s life, you re not messing with just that part. Unfortunately, you can t be that
precise and selective. When you mess with one part of a person s life, you re messing with their
entire life (Asher 203 204). Hannah clearly seems to be aware of the fact that people do not think
realize that their actions have such an impact on Hannah s feelings. Therefore, she makes sure that
the people listening to the tapes will realize how their behavior towards Hannah, though it seemed
meaningless at the moment, really did have a huge impact on her

How Did The Industrial Revolution Change Working Conditions
Working Conditions and Reforms How did the Industrial Revolution change working conditions?
During the 18th and 19th centuries, a new period called the Industrial Revolution began with
societies which used to be mainly agrarian in Europe and America, becoming industrial and urban.
It all started in Britain with Sir Richard Arkwright who invented a spinning machine, which led to
the rise of the Industrial Revolution. Britain was also the first to experience industrialisation since
at the time, there were huge coal and iron ore deposits in Britain which were necessary for
industrialisation. Britain was also the largest empire at the time and one of the many benefits of
being so meant that it could also get natural resources from elsewhere. ... Show more content on

The reason behind the peculiar name Luddite is after Ned Ludd, a young apprentice who
supposedly wrecked textile machinery in the late 18th century. Luddites who had dedicated years to
their profession dreaded at the thought of untrained machine operators taking over their jobs. After
being rejected for government aid and assistance, hopeless Luddites raided factories and damaged
machines with the first notable instances being recorded in Nottingham in 1811. The practise soon
expanded across the whole of England with the Luddites arming themselves with sledgehammers
and sometimes even exchanged gunfire with the company guards and soldiers. Luddites even
issued manifestos and alarming letters under the name of General Ludd whose orders they were
following apparently. Instead of banning weaving machines which is what the Luddites hoped, the
British Government enacted laws which made machine breaking punishable by death. The
Luddites reached their climax in April 1812, when a few of them were gunned down during a raid
on a mill near Huddersfield. The days afterwards consisted of the army rounding up the Luddites
with many of them either being hanged or sent to Australia. By 1813, the Luddites had virtually

As the species that depends on sight more than any other scent, seeing so often has certainly
become much more than believing, which is only further reinforced by this age of intense and
numerous visual stimuli. Upon my recent visit to New York City, I could easily see that the line
for the virtual city ride at the Empire State building was much longer than that for the
observation deck. This mania for visual experience has taken over, increasing our conviction in
what we see as what is, despite their crucial differences. Yet, this is no newfound novelty. The
human tendency to take things at their face value is ancient and persisting. This excessive
dependence on visual stimulation has led to an excessive false belief in the falsity of
appearances; a belief that causes the casual classification of people that is so rigid and narrow in
its function that failure to fit into them results in losing one s sense of identity, even when
identity is itself such a fluid and complex concept. I have always contended that human beings
have a tendency to classify what we experience into categories and assign them with labels. With
our dependence on visual stimulation, we generate concepts and categorizations based on what
we see, and file them away to be used on a wider scale, allowing those who live in China and
those who live in the UK to synthesis the signified through a similar signifier. As our world

Chris Burden s Analysis
I still collect toys.Toys are a reflection of society. They are the tools that society uses to teach and

you probably think about dolls or Hot Wheels. What you probably don t know is the toys can vary
into anything. Toys are usually used to entertain yourself, but what if they represent more than just
that. It can be a famous cite, make you question society, or just make you think about how we re

Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District...
In the history of the Supreme Court, there have been many First Amendment cases that outline if
exercises of free speech and expression are constitutional or unconstitutional. One of the most
paramount 1st amendment cases is that of Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School
District (1969). This significant case helped shape the extension of symbolic speech, as well as
ensure the freedom of speech and expression to students in schools. In December 1965, a group of
Iowa residents, both adults and children, gathered to discuss ways in which they could protest
American involvement in the Vietnam War, a very controversial issue at the time. The group
decided to wear black armbands for the month of December as a form of peaceful... Show more

The District Court dismissed the case, upholding the constitutionality of the school board s
decision to prohibit the students from wearing the armbands. The case later moved onto the US
Court of Appeals, where a 4 4 vote upheld the lower court s decision. They then took their case to
the Supreme Court. The case was heard by the Supreme Court on November 12th, 1968 to a packed
court house. The main constitutional question at hand was if a prohibition against the wearing of
armbands in public school, as a form of symbolic protest, violates the First Amendment s freedom of
speech and expression. Attorney Dan L. Johnson argued on the Tinker s behalf, proclaiming that the
students had the constitutional right, as per the 1st amendment freedom of speech and expression,
to wear the black armbands as a form of symbolic speech. On the other hand, attorney Allan A.
Herrick defended the school board s actions, inciting that the prohibition of armbands was necessary
to prevent and stifle any violence or disorder. The topic of discussion during the oral arguments
centered largely upon whether Tinker s protest was disruptive to the class environment. Johnson
argued that the anti Vietnam protest, although sparking some talk, was undisruptive to school,
citing that there was no evidence of disruption in any of the classes. Herrick, conversely, argued that
the Vietnam War was an inflammatory issue, and that armbands invoked violence, especially since a

Why Bob Can Be Removed As A Director
1.0 Introduction:
To begin in advising Ann, it is important to distinguish between the different options she may
have as a company director and as a shareholder in Clippers Ltd. It is also important to remember
that Bob is also a director and a shareholder. Therefore, there are two discreet issues here: would
Ann be able to remove Bob as a Director (this option will not remove Bob as a shareholder).
Alternatively, Ann may wish to petition for a winding up of the company, Clippers Ltd as the
basis to firmly end Bob s involvement in Clippers. However, this option is likely to raise
considerable debt issues in relation to the rights Mo will have for the return of her investment and
the money owed to Dry Ltd.

If Ann wishes to use this CA 2006 procedure, she must ensure that all of the formalities are
complied with, including the need for notice to be given to all shareholders, including Bob, so
that he has a right to protest his removal as director at a meeting. However, the success of this
depends on whether Mo will have voting right in respect of this motion which is contingent upon
her dividends being in arrears. On the basis of the facts the cumulative profits of the business
would be at ВЈ70,000 which would entitle Mo to around ВЈ3,500 of dividends. As the facts suggest
that Mo has only received ВЈ2,500 dividends, it seems likely Mo will be able to vote on this
resolution on the basis of the articles of association.
If Ann is fully determined to remove Bob from Clippers Ltd, then the only option may be to wind
up the company which would bring Clippers Ltd to an end and allow Ann the freedom to
commence a new company.
If Ann decides she firmly wants to end Bob s involvement by winding up the company, she may be
able to petition the court for a just and equitable winding up of the company. Under section
122(1)(g) of the Insolvency Act 1986 (IA) a company may be wound up by the court if the court is
of the opinion that it is just and equitable that the company should be wound up . In Ebrahimi v

Cosmetics And Its Impact On The Makeup Industry
Purchasing the most expensive and popular cosmetic brand might seem as the best option to protect
oneself from imperfections but, is the product s price determined by popularity or safety
regulations? Cosmetics have transformed the industries to make themselves an essential part of
consumer s daily routine. Cosmeticswere first used by tribes as a form of camouflage to disguise
themselves from enemies and predators. Mud, ashes and natural dyes, were used to hide
themselves from predators and to create a sense of fear in the pray (Goering). During the
Renaissance period, cosmetics lost its demand as a protection tool and innovating in the makeup
industry. Women began making their own instructions on how to produce products based on
households items such as oatmeals, charcoal and berries. Soon they adapted a system that allowed
them to make more of the same products and then create profits by selling them as a package
product (Goering). Currently in the Twenty First Century beauty products are considered essential
in women s life as a key to their physical transformation. From morning makeup routine to late time
dinners, women tend to use on average at least ten to fifteen products a day (Averett). Cosmetics
have expanded from raw materials used for camouflage to a crucial necessity to in order achieve an
emotional realization through the physical appearance. Although cosmetics have helped enhance

A Good Story By Anne Mccaffery
Anne Mccaffery once said that A good story is a good story no matter who wrote it. Well, what
is a good story? More specifically, what is a good short story? A good short story should have
intriguing characters that provide the readers with a rollercoaster of emotions. To make the
characters as interesting as possible, there is also a need for descriptive language and specific
sensory details. The events in the story should engage the readerand lead them into another world,
they should let readers journey through the story with the characters one page at a time. This
applies to all stories, but to achieve this in a short storyis harder, since it is shorter in length.
Another thing that is important in a short story is the mood. When... Show more content on

drops a sudden bomb on each reader. Throughout the whole story, Deal talks of the great melon

risk is the start of an exciting, adventurous story. Since one risk isn t enough, Deal gives the
reader risk after risk. An example of that is shown right after the boy decides to steal the melon,
Anybody could steal it on a dark night, I said scornfully. I m going to take it right out from under

without reason. This risk shows many emotions of the protagonist. His loathing towards Mr. Wills
and his pride and ignorance as a growing teenager is what results in this decision. These complex
feelings that are slowly shown to the reader makes this story outstanding. The last and best risk

Leonardo Da Vinci And Machiavelli s Role In Secular Italy
In my final short summary, I will be explaining both Leonardo da Vinci and Machiavelli s roles
in secular Italy. To represent this, I will examine how their legacies were effected and finally, I
will then conclude with my final opinions on these two philosophers and the journey s they both
endeavored. Although Leonardo and Machiavelli both appeared to leave Florence in unfavorable
ways, one could argue that both men ultimately learned from failure. The men spent their time in a
non religious Florence in an alliance, however, they both used this in attempts to thrive on their
own. Leonardo spent his time working on his art; but, more importantly he was attempting to build
a canal that would lead from the Arno river to the sea. Machiavelli worked by using his political
power to supervise the Florence government during this project, however, it eventually failed. After
the Arno diversion was abandoned, Leonardo and NiccolГІ did what truly great artists, scientists,

I justify this by saying if it were not for yet another military failure, Machiavelli may never have

roles that both Leonardo da Vinci and NiccolГІ Machiavelli were a part of in secular Italy, along

Oppression In Jane Eyre
The Impression of Oppression in Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ« depicts the rigid social structure and clear division between the
upper and lower classes of Victorian society, in which wealth and status determined one s beliefs,
career, and treatment from those surrounding them. Those of the upper class did not typically
converse or involve themselves with those viewed as beneath them; however, Jane Eyre fights the
separation between the classes to which she has fallen victim at both Gateshead and Lowood
school. Her refusal to conform to the hierarchy eventually leads to the meddling between the
Victorian era elite and peasant class, as seen through Jane Eyre s romantic relationship with Edward
Rochester, an upperclassman and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Reed family evidently still carries this grudge against Jane s side of the family, as they all
treat her as part of a lower class that is unworthy to live with them or be associated with them in
any way.
The only time that a member of the Reed family speaks to Jane is when they are belittling her,
hoping to further assert their elite dominance over the lower class. In one particular quarrel,
John Reed, the oppressive Roman emperor and slave driver, throws a book at Jane s head to
physically proclaim his dominance over her, to which Jane responds by verbally firing back at
his elitist oppression. (BrontГ« 13) The battle between the social classes concludes with Jane
being banished to the horrifying red room as punishment for attempting to overthrow the elite
power, John Reed, even though John was the clear instigator of the scuffle. Jane is later
condemned by the house servants for her attempt to overthrow her young master. Jane and John
are both children, but due to the wealth and status of his parents, John is allowed to rule over
Jane, making Jane, as the Gateshead servants would describe, less than a servant because she
does nothing for her keep. (BrontГ« 15) Jane continuously faces this maltreatment at Gateshead
until an outburst directed towards Mrs. Reed causes her to be sent away to Lowood school, a
place where Mrs. Reed hopes Jane will perhaps be taught to conform to the societal norm of how a
young girl like Jane should act in

Theme Of Social Class In The Outsiders
In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are many important themes, including recognizing the
importance of family, understanding how social class can mold who you are as a person, and
facing challenges. The main characters in the novel faced challenges due to their circumstances
and social class. Through these challenges, they learned the importance of family and friends
and had to make mature decisions. By the end of the novel, Ponyboy especially, had grown up
staggeringly. Although Ponyboy has dealt with problems in his family and because of his low
social class he matured throughout the novel. The main theme of The Outsiders centers around
the importance of family. Ponyboy and his brothers made sacrifices for their family. Darry, the
eldest brother, had a chance to go to college and be successful, but he chose to take care of his
two brothers, Ponyboy and Sodapop. Family doesn t have to be blood. Johnny s parents abused
him, so he felt like the Greasers were more of family to him than his parents. The Greasers
supported, protected, and looked out for Johnny. The Socs, who are the Greasers biggest
enemies, turned to their gang for family too because the parents of the Socs only gave their
children money and didn t take care of them. Society and class was another big theme in The
Outsiders. Ponyboy was born into a low social class. His parents died, so he had to rely on his
brothers and the Greasers. They were poor and had to work to get basic needs like food and
water. Since the Greasers had a low social class they were looked down upon as trouble makers
even when they were being helpful. When Ponyboy and Johnny saved children out of a burning
church, it was written in the paper that juvenile delinquents had turned heros. The Socs on the
other hand had money. They fancy cars like Mustangs and Corvairs and wore nice clothes. They
were considered heroes even though they didn t do anything heroic. They caused trouble in the
neighborhood by throwing beer blasts and jumping Greasers. Society overlooked character due to
social class. Social classes limit people too. Darry, a Greaser and Paul, a Soc had the same qualities
to be successful and go to college. Darry however, was held back because

The Benefits Of Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing has grown tremendously in recent years because of its convenience, flexibility,
mobility, and availability. It enables users to access resources online throughout the internet from
anywhere at any time. Data and applications are available to end users no matter where they are in
the world, dispersed groups of people can now meet virtually and share information in real time,
and the reduction of servers and software costs can significantly reduce without impacting the

Many things can affect the reliability of the cloud such as failed servers and an overload of data.
This report will focus on the privacy and reliability related issues concerning cloud computing
security, and how these risks can be approached. II. Technical Summary The report that I
selected focused on the development of cloud computing in security issues related with the
privacy and reliability, the key factors of affecting the security risks, and also the suggestions
and recommendations for these risks. The expectations for reliability of the cloud continues to
grow as more and more applications are developed based on cloud service. To meet those
expectations, cloud service providers need to understand the challenges and find ways to increase
the reliability of cloud services, and also ways to avoid the risks. Some of the risks that affect the
reliability of the cloud is co residency and multi tenancy, downtime, and latency challenges. Co
residency is when multiple services are held in a server. This makes it difficult to predict the
performance of an application. Reliability can be affected by other services that are busy. Multi
tenancy is when multiple independent instances of an application can be consolidated on a single
virtualized platform. The instances can then be available simultaneously to various groups of users.
Multi tenancy has the same cost benefits and challenges as

Fetus Removal Essay
It is generally acknowledged that the reality of premature birth has been a subject of discussion and
debate for a long time. Since the extent of individuals who acknowledge fetus removal as a typical
technique is equivalent to the extent of the individuals who consider premature birth a wrongdoing
, through time plenty of estimations have been taken against premature birth yet concerning its
resistance also. Although the reality of fetus removal has been analyzed through it s logical and
religious side, in this task we will attempt and inspect premature birth from a moral perspective.
The ideal route for somebody to allude to premature birth on a moral premise would likely be
through the depiction and assessment of the subject in view of two of the most known hypothetical
methodologies: those of Kant s and of Utilitarianism (Act and Rule).
Starting with the approach of Utilitarianism, we should state that Utilitarianism, is concerned
essentially with joy and with torment. In this manner, somebody ought to be worried about the
measures of delight and torment in circumstances where premature birth is allowed as appeared
differently in relation to the measures of joy and torment where fetus removal is taboo.
It may be recommended that the fundamental thought would be the interests of the baby: not
exclusively would its be able to future life be expectedly upbeat (or possibly having an adjust of
satisfaction over anguish) it may likewise be simply the case that the premature birth is difficult,
especially in the event that it happens later in the pregnancy. However this emphasis on the baby is
unjustifiable since any agony associated with the premature birth itself can be kept away from by
essentially prematurely ending the pregnancy sooner (before the hatchling has even built up the
capacity of anguish), or with effortless methods. The immediate enduring of the baby can in this
way be no contention against fetus removal, for the most part, just the awful routine with regards to
it.
A more noteworthy thought exists on the off chance that we speculate that the future existence of
the baby includes a likely adjust of bliss over anguish for the embryo. This would appear to be an
unequivocal point against

existing issues, tensions and synergies regarding globalizationand sustainable development.
Moreover, underlying the fact that there s conflict between ecological balances and increasing
demand for economic growth (Byrne Glover, 2002), this paper also highlights the ways in which
globalization can be sustained.
Literature on Globalization and Sustainable Development
Contemporary literature reveals that globalization continues to gain widespread popularity in the
political and business world (Yeung, 2015) because of its ability to encompass the diverse set of
economic, political and cultural processes (Kelly, 1999). Despite of its popularity, the literature on
globalization remains highly ambiguous and chaotic (Jessop 1999, as cited in Yeung 2015). As

  • 2. Blindness In King Lear By Traglear Life is all about sight in two senses. Our eyes present us with the world in its entirety bright lights and dancing colors, evil foes and dark corners, and an unyielding perception of the truth before us. However, the stark truth we see through our eyes excludes the forces our retinas cannot detect. No matter how bright the sun, our eyes will never show us the shadowed intentions of another, and no matter how vivid the coloration, our eyes can never perfectly paint the depth of someone s love. Sometimes, as in the case of King Lear, a person s sight can blind them to the realities their eyes do not reveal. King Lear s crooked sight not only leads him to misinterpret the intentions of his three daughters and the sincerity of their affection,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fashion of a true hubris hero, Lear s faults cost him his mortality, his emotional exile returns his sight and he faces the consequences of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Mix Of Sexuality And Fear In The Film Interview With A... I have had a long attraction to vampires ever since I was a young person. I remember watching the movie INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994) for the first time, I was mesmerized. Louis played by the actor Brad Pitt and Le Stat played by Tom Cruise were sophisticated, worldly, exciting and most of all sexy. They were not sexy in the traditional sense of tall, dark and handsome , more like pale and with sunken in eyes, but yet I found myself deeply attracted to them. I found their lure and mysteriousness sexy and exciting. I found myself wanting more. I often attribute my birthday being on Friday the 13th to my interest in what most people would fear, my love for vampires. And even though you do not see any character in the film have sex. The overwhelming sexual tension in the film makes the air thick. The common mix of sexuality and fear is what fuels our desires towards the undead, and such is the case in Interview With a Vampire. • 5. Examples Of Success Is Counted Sweetest By Emily Dickinson Despite having great notoriety in the present day, Emily Dickinson was not always recognized as a remarkable American poet. In fact, during her lifetime, Dickinson was seen as a reclusive woman who had failed to meet society s expectations. Dickinson lived out her life unwed, on her family homestead, rarely ever leaving the house, let alone her own room. As a result of her peculiar life, Dickinson found poetryas an outlet to express her feelings, experiences, and philosophy. In her reclusive state, Dickinson created nearly 1,800 poems, many of which challenged societal values of the time. In Dickinson s The Soul selects her own Society , she discusses the concept of individuality, and how it affects people in relation to society. To begin, Dickinson writes The Soul selects her own Society / Then shuts the Door / To her divine Majority / Present no more (1 4). The act of someone selecting their own society , as described in this poem, is a metaphor for finding purpose and meaning in life, and discovering what they wants to do with their time on Earth. Shutting the door is a comment on commitment, and how one must be completely devoted to the society in which they have selected. When compared to Dickinson s own life, it appears that this poem is making a statement on Dickinson s choice to live in seclusion. The society in which Dickinson has selected is the world of poetry, which she enjoys in the comfort of her own room. She quite literally shuts the door behind her, as Dickinson rarely left her own room. As for her commitment to writing poetry, the fact that she wrote nearly 1,800 poems makes it very clear that she was devoted to the society she had selected. Furthermore, Dickinson writes Unmoved she notes the Chariots / At her low Gate / Unmoved an Emperor be kneeling / Upon her Mat (5 8). • 20. Key Benefits Of A Secured Loan In the current economic climate where loans are not so readily available as they used to be it is useful to know what your options are before applying for a loan. Secured Loans A secured loan is a loan that is secured on your property, and is available to people that have a mortgage on their property who also have enough equity left in their property. The maximum LTV (loan to value) allowable if you have a good credit history is currently 85% i.e. the total of your loan and mortgage debt must be less than 85% of the value of your property. One of the main benefits of a secured loan is that the lender is more likely to lend you money because they put a second charge on your property (behind the charge that your mortgage lender has in place) which makes the loan a safer bet for them if you default on your repayments. You can also borrow larger loan amounts for longer terms than you can with an unsecured loan. Unsecured Loans An unsecured loan is a loan that is underwritten based on your personal circumstances, i.e. the lender will look at your income and your outgoings and they will also look at your credit record. Although the loan is unsecured the lenders are more likley to lend to homeowners than they are to tenants, for the simple reason that should you default on your repayments the lender will look to put a charge on your property in order to recover their money. During the 18th and 19th centuries, a new period called the Industrial Revolution began with societies which used to be mainly agrarian in Europe and America, becoming industrial and urban. As the species that depends on sight more than any other scent, seeing so often has certainly become much more than believing, which is only further reinforced by this age of intense and numerous visual stimuli. Upon my recent visit to New York City, I could easily see that the line for the virtual city ride at the Empire State building was much longer than that for the observation deck. This mania for visual experience has taken over, increasing our conviction in what we see as what is, despite their crucial differences. Yet, this is no newfound novelty. The human tendency to take things at their face value is ancient and persisting. This excessive dependence on visual stimulation has led to an excessive false belief in the falsity of appearances; a belief that causes the casual classification of people that is so rigid and narrow in its function that failure to fit into them results in losing one s sense of identity, even when identity is itself such a fluid and complex concept. I have always contended that human beings have a tendency to classify what we experience into categories and assign them with labels. With our dependence on visual stimulation, we generate concepts and categorizations based on what we see, and file them away to be used on a wider scale, allowing those who live in China and those who live in the UK to synthesis the signified through a similar signifier. • 27. Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District... In the history of the Supreme Court, there have been many First Amendment cases that outline if exercises of free speech and expression are constitutional or unconstitutional. One of the most paramount 1st amendment cases is that of Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District (1969). This significant case helped shape the extension of symbolic speech, as well as ensure the freedom of speech and expression to students in schools. In December 1965, a group of Iowa residents, both adults and children, gathered to discuss ways in which they could protest American involvement in the Vietnam War, a very controversial issue at the time. The group decided to wear black armbands for the month of December as a form of peaceful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The District Court dismissed the case, upholding the constitutionality of the school board s decision to prohibit the students from wearing the armbands. The case later moved onto the US Court of Appeals, where a 4 4 vote upheld the lower court s decision. They then took their case to the Supreme Court. The case was heard by the Supreme Court on November 12th, 1968 to a packed court house. The main constitutional question at hand was if a prohibition against the wearing of armbands in public school, as a form of symbolic protest, violates the First Amendment s freedom of speech and expression. Attorney Dan L. Johnson argued on the Tinker s behalf, proclaiming that the students had the constitutional right, as per the 1st amendment freedom of speech and expression, to wear the black armbands as a form of symbolic speech. On the other hand, attorney Allan A. Herrick defended the school board s actions, inciting that the prohibition of armbands was necessary to prevent and stifle any violence or disorder. The topic of discussion during the oral arguments centered largely upon whether Tinker s protest was disruptive to the class environment. Johnson argued that the anti Vietnam protest, although sparking some talk, was undisruptive to school, citing that there was no evidence of disruption in any of the classes. Herrick, conversely, argued that the Vietnam War was an inflammatory issue, and that armbands invoked violence, especially since a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, there are two discreet issues here: would Ann be able to remove Bob as a Director (this option will not remove Bob as a shareholder). Alternatively, Ann may wish to petition for a winding up of the company, Clippers Ltd as the basis to firmly end Bob s involvement in Clippers. However, the success of this depends on whether Mo will have voting right in respect of this motion which is contingent upon her dividends being in arrears. On the basis of the facts the cumulative profits of the business would be at ВЈ70,000 which would entitle Mo to around ВЈ3,500 of dividends. As the facts suggest that Mo has only received ВЈ2,500 dividends, it seems likely Mo will be able to vote on this resolution on the basis of the articles of association. • 31. A Good Story By Anne Mccaffery Anne Mccaffery once said that A good story is a good story no matter who wrote it. Well, what is a good story? More specifically, what is a good short story? A good short story should have intriguing characters that provide the readers with a rollercoaster of emotions. To make the characters as interesting as possible, there is also a need for descriptive language and specific sensory details. The events in the story should engage the readerand lead them into another world, they should let readers journey through the story with the characters one page at a time. This applies to all stories, but to achieve this in a short storyis harder, since it is shorter in length. Another thing that is important in a short story is the mood. When... Throughout the whole story, Deal talks of the great melon that no one dares to steal, then out of nowhere, our main character decides to steal it. This big risk is the start of an exciting, adventurous story. Since one risk isn t enough, Deal gives the reader risk after risk. An example of that is shown right after the boy decides to steal the melon, Anybody could steal it on a dark night, I said scornfully. I m going to take it right out from under his nose. Tonight. This bold and seemingly stupid response that Deal has inserted in the story is not without reason. This risk shows many emotions of the protagonist. His loathing towards Mr. Wills and his pride and ignorance as a growing teenager is what results in this decision. These complex feelings that are slowly shown to the reader makes this story outstanding. To represent this, I will examine how their legacies were effected and finally, I will then conclude with my final opinions on these two philosophers and the journey s they both endeavored. Although Leonardo and Machiavelli both appeared to leave Florence in unfavorable ways, one could argue that both men ultimately learned from failure. The men spent their time in a non religious Florence in an alliance, however, they both used this in attempts to thrive on their own. Leonardo spent his time working on his art; but, more importantly he was attempting to build a canal that would lead from the Arno river to the sea. Machiavelli worked by using his political power to supervise the Florence government during this project, however, it eventually failed. In one particular quarrel, John Reed, the oppressive Roman emperor and slave driver, throws a book at Jane s head to physically proclaim his dominance over her, to which Jane responds by verbally firing back at his elitist oppression. • 34. Theme Of Social Class In The Outsiders In The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are many important themes, including recognizing the importance of family, understanding how social class can mold who you are as a person, and facing challenges. The main characters in the novel faced challenges due to their circumstances and social class. Through these challenges, they learned the importance of family and friends and had to make mature decisions. By the end of the novel, Ponyboy especially, had grown up staggeringly. Although Ponyboy has dealt with problems in his family and because of his low social class he matured throughout the novel. The main theme of The Outsiders centers around the importance of family. Ponyboy and his brothers made sacrifices for their family. Darry, the eldest brother, had a chance to go to college and be successful, but he chose to take care of his two brothers, Ponyboy and Sodapop. Family doesn t have to be blood. Johnny s parents abused him, so he felt like the Greasers were more of family to him than his parents. The Greasers supported, protected, and looked out for Johnny. The Socs, who are the Greasers biggest enemies, turned to their gang for family too because the parents of the Socs only gave their children money and didn t take care of them. Society and class was another big theme in The Outsiders. Ponyboy was born into a low social class. His parents died, so he had to rely on his brothers and the Greasers. They were poor and had to work to get basic needs like food and water. Since the Greasers had a low social class they were looked down upon as trouble makers even when they were being helpful. When Ponyboy and Johnny saved children out of a burning church, it was written in the paper that juvenile delinquents had turned heros. The Socs on the other hand had money. They fancy cars like Mustangs and Corvairs and wore nice clothes. They were considered heroes even though they didn t do anything heroic. They caused trouble in the neighborhood by throwing beer blasts and jumping Greasers. Society overlooked character due to social class. Social classes limit people too. Since the extent of individuals who acknowledge fetus removal as a typical technique is equivalent to the extent of the individuals who consider premature birth a wrongdoing , through time plenty of estimations have been taken against premature birth yet concerning its resistance also. Although the reality of fetus removal has been analyzed through it s logical and religious side, in this task we will attempt and inspect premature birth from a moral perspective. The ideal route for somebody to allude to premature birth on a moral premise would likely be through the depiction and assessment of the subject in view of two of the most known hypothetical methodologies: those of Kant s and of Utilitarianism (Act and Rule). Starting with the approach of Utilitarianism, we should state that Utilitarianism, is concerned essentially with joy and with torment. In this manner, somebody ought to be worried about the measures of delight and torment in circumstances where premature birth is allowed as appeared differently in relation to the measures of joy and torment where fetus removal is taboo. However this emphasis on the baby is unjustifiable since any agony associated with the premature birth itself can be kept away from by essentially prematurely ending the pregnancy sooner (before the hatchling has even built up the capacity of anguish), or with effortless methods. The immediate enduring of the baby can in this way be no contention against fetus removal, for the most part, just the awful routine with regards to it. A critical literature review on the multidisciplinary literature from the first four weeks of this unit is thoroughly studied in order to get a clear understating of the existing issues, tensions and synergies regarding globalizationand sustainable development.
