Christianity In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Christian ideals in children s literature pose a serious threat to individuality. Clive Staples Lewis
wrote The Chronicles of Narnia in 1950, he hoped to write a book even non religious people
could pick up and read. Being his most popular book, children and adults alike took to this book,
along with theologians. His book is a complete copy of the Bible, only switched around to make
fantastic settings and characters like Aslan the lion, the Jesus Christ of Narnia. He also uses
children as the main characters so the younger audience can relate, again, making these children
prone to choosing a religion early on. C.S. Lewis wrote wonderful books, but his push of
Christianity is quite offensive to some readers. The most factual correlation between the Bible and
The Chronicles of Narniais that they are both works of fiction. Christianity, and all religion, are
ways for the uneducated to understand their world without science. Now, not all religious people
are uneducated, yet they look for something higher than themselves, in fear there is actually nothing
in the afterlife. Along with this, there is a lot of evil in the bible, If there be found among you,
within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man... Show more content on

Edmund enters Narnia through the wardrobe and first finds the White Witch, who, in this story, is
the Devil or demon character. In turn for his companionship, she offers him Turkish Delights, which
Edmund develops an insatiable taste for. This is the sin of gluttony, and the White Witch is the
temptress. Lewis chose a woman because throughout history, the person who tempts the protagonist
is usually a woman or genderless being. Edmund soon realizes the White Witch s evil intentions. A
rescue party is sent for Edmund after his realizations and he is almost killed. When found, Aslan
essentially gambles his life for Edmunds, which is also a

Kahnemen s Business Model
As online modes of payment threaten the traditional model, dealerships should adapt sales
strategies to build trust with customers. The data shows that people are apprehensive about
going into dealerships but do like being able to see the car in person where they can ask
questions easily. Management policies should reframe themselves to eliminate short termism.
This is a common tragedy seen in many firms. Thaler (p188) was teaching a class on decision
making to a group of executives, he asked the group if they would undertake a project with a 50%
risk of losing one million dollars and an equal chance of gaining double. Only three of the twenty
three said they would do it. Then he changed the scenario so that the outcomes were all... Show

Behavioural economists and psychologist alike have long experimented with framing, the way
in which an offer is put in context matters in a world in which people are prone to bias. Framings
role in marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by
Kahnemen. Groups were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of
getting $1000. The majority chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk
averse. The second problem was a choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000,
in this situation the majority took the risk. The lesson here as Kahnemen describes is that losses
loom larger than gains . Similar experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing
money if they have an equal chance of gaining twice that amount. So, when it comes to the
discussed anchor price firms should instead set retail prices which include all extras or perhaps a
range of prices rather than a single number for a vehicle. This means that consumers will have that
higher number or range as an anchor by which they negotiate with. If salesmen fail to convince the
customer to buy a certain extra they can revert to the default price. This makes the customer feel as
if they are gaining more as they are giving up less than the retail price.
Competition and pricing Pricing plays a key role in the

Hofstede s Improve Four Dimensions Helping Others
Analysing 116 000 survey questionnaires, Hofstede s improve four dimensions helping others to
understand different culture behaviour. These dimensions were created based on simple problems
that most societies have every day.
The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by
subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with
authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as
inequality at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken
into account, managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats
superiors, centralized structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors
have benefits.
The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel
threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in
low and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue,
not structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance
characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the
better knowledge.
Then is the Individualism vs Group/collectivist orientation, this dimension shows How people
distribute their social life, importance of group life, goal achievements

Lines Written A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey
During the eighteenth century, it was a time where people were obsessed with rationality and
scientific precision. In response to this, artists created a literary movement the Romantic period.
This period was not just about love stories; it was a social movement revolved around the concept
of imagination. Poets used imagination to escape the troubles going on in the real world. Two
authors who used their imagination during this timeare William Wordsworthand John Keats. Both
Wordsworth and Coleridge use the imagination to escape their present reality. While Wordsworth s
speaker in Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey succeeds in making his present moment
better, in Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci, the speaker gets trapped in a dangerous past. Even
though they both used imagination, the outcome of it was different.
Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey is about how we change over time and the
realization of it. The speaker in this compares the person he used to be and the person he
became. The speaker, remembers almost every detail from the past of Tintern Abbey that he used
to visit. Wordsworth uses imagination by describing everything the speaker remembers what he
saw and heard. From the sound of the mountain springs (3), this dark sycamore (10), and the
hedge rows (14). These memories make him realize he has been cooped up in the city. The
speaker claims these memories kept him sane while living in the din/ Of towns and cities (25 26).

Lack Of Alcohol Consumption On Campus
Universities and colleges in the United States are split up into different categories. Private,
public, four years, and two years are just some of the different types of colleges in the United
States. To be even more specific all colleges are broken down into two major categories: dry and
wet campuses. Dry campus are basically universities that do not allow alcohol consumption on
campus even if you are at the drinking age. Wet campuses are the exact opposite. Most wet
campuses are huge schools where they can not control the alcohol consumption, such as the
University of Connecticut, Penn State, etc. Dry campuses on the other hand are mostly smaller
schools where alcohol consumption can be monitored. Examples of this are ECSU, and all the
other Connecticut state schools. The reasons for these differences are because the universities are
trying to decrease the amount of drinking on campus, but does this actually work? is the
percentage of alcohol consumption lower on dry campuses than wet campuses? After researching
these topics and experiencing this first hand it is clear that the percentage of alcohol consumption
on dry campuses is not low enough compared to the percentage in wet campus, to be considered a
good way of solving the problem of binge drinking in universities. Dry campus restrictions don t
work because they don t impede students from buying alcohol, they don t impede them from
drinking off campus, and they fail to prevent alcohol related incidents. Alcohol

Why The South Killed Reconstruction
The South Killed Reconstruction After the Civil War, there was still question about who had
overall killed Reconstruction. They both had a lot to do with it, but the south had more to do
with it. The KKK was killing important people just to prove a point. Life was hard for African
Americans in this time because Southern people wanted slavery to continue even after it was
abolished. African americans were bribed to vote for who the kkk wanted. There was a lot of
racism.I think the south killed reconstruction because of bribery, the killing of scalawags and
carpetbaggers, and who they voted for. I think the South killed Reconstruction efforts by bribing
African Americans They offered me $5,000 to go with them and said they would pay me $2,500
in cash if I would let another man go to legislature in my place. (Colby 513) This gives evidence
that the KKK was bribing African Americans to do what they wanted. They set in and whipped me
a thousand licks more, with sticks and straps that had buckles on the ends of them. (Colby 513)
This shows that the KKK was beating and whipping African Americans if they refused their offer.

sure a carpetbaggers and a scalawag because the one is holding a briefcase and the other is dressed

The Ancient Roman Empire
Rome, the first long and lasting empire that swept through other nations like wildfire. Rome
broke the barriers of politics and government. Rome also stood for something that citizens of
today look at as grotesque and savage. The fact that citizens would come together and cheer for
another man while he plunged his sword through his chest, with no understanding of life or
family. The building that represented this evil act is the Roman Coliseum. Although inside the
coliseum death was glorified and wished for the idea and meaning demonstrated politics and
power. Rome was powerful in all meaning of the power. Power is defined as the capability or the
ability to direct or influence the behaviors of others or the course of events. (sited by
Dictornary.com). Rome certainly did this in a lot of ways. Rome has both influenced culture
and many other things. Rome itself stood over the world like a shining example of an empire.
Also, one of the most important people in this colossal empire, was the emperor himself. One
man that almost every dictator looks to as a shining example is Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar
traveled a lot as kid. And when he was young he was kidnapped by pirates. He also traveled
around the world to study and became a great war general (sited by vroma.org). Statues of him
still are in a lot of museums and public places. He has made an impact to the old world so big that
it moved cultures and united ideas. Caesar, who won the hearts and popularity of so

What Is Cultural Relativism
1. Cultural relativism relies on social ideals to dictate whether or not something is morally right or
wrong while ethical subjectivism that truth moral standard are dictated by each individual. These
forms of moral skepticism are completely inconsistent with ethical objectivism since it views moral
as something completely untouched by any beliefs, desires, and will.
3. Ethical subjectivism makes us morally infallible by making morality in the eye of the beholder,
which pretty much would lead us to believe that every individual is morally right. But this is
simply cannot be true since that would mean that an individual s thinking could be based off bias,
prejudice, ignorance, etc. and still not be mistaken.
5. Some would say that ethical subjectivism would generate contradictions and they would be
correct. Two individuals could agree and disagree respectively on whether or not New Jersey is on
the east coast, but then those theories would be inconsistent and contradict each other. But luckily
for the subjectivist, they found the perfect comeback for this critique, making it morally impossible
to disagree with anyone in the process. A subjectivist can say that they personally do... Show more

There are two types of moral nihilism: error theory and expressivism. Error theory is the theory
where our moral judgement are wrong, that they re pretty much a sham. This theory could be
compared to atheism in a manner, especially since atheists and error theorist go against widely
viewed ideals (a.e. God and moral respectively). Expressivism might seem similar to error theory,
but they differ in a large way. They do not believe that any moral are true or false or have any
moral value whatsoever. Expressivists also believe that while moral judgement might look like
they are moral facts, but really those judgements are just us expressing emotions, showing our
approval or disapproval in something. But in the end, both error theory and expressivism both
believe morals to be a

The Development Of Absolutism During The Nineteenth...
In the course of the seventeenth century, there were many political and religious conflicts within
Europe. These struggles affected countless nations across the continent, but almost none were as
troubled as France due to the years of religious wars fought out within their territories, which
caused widespread chaos in their lands. Both, the upper and lower class citizens were exhausted by
these conflicts and were supportive of a new style of government. In attempt to maintain the
integrity and stability of their country, French kings started to gradually adopt the political ideal of
absolutism to maintain total control over their nation. The final goal of this ideal was to achieve
the good of the state and a higher level of national existence. The development of absolutism in
France can be thoroughly analyzed both in theory and in practice by looking at three kings and
their cardinal advisors who consecutively ruled France leading up too, and in the seventeenth
century. This development of absolutism can be firstly seen through Henry the fourth, followed by
Louis the thirteenth and most prominently in Louis the fourteenth. In the last quarter of the
sixteenth century, France was in the middle of its wars of religion, otherwise known as the
Huguenot Wars. These wars were fought between the reformed Protestants and Catholics which
lead to the death of approximately three million people. In addition to this, these conflicts also
caused widespread disease and starvation

An individual s equitable right to their protection of privacy is fundamental as it upholds respect,
maintains appropriate social boundaries, and guarantees their freedom of growth as an entity. The
ability to affirm one s necessity of privacy is imperative to the development of who they are, and
how they form an identity that is not dictated by the social conditions that directly or indirectly
influence their thinking, decisions, and behaviors. The abuse of personal privacy causes for a
disturbance of success as an independent human being. The recurring concern of making privacy a
priority at Grapevine Faith Christian School seemingly appears to be insufficient in meeting the

This plan is not only ludicrous but ill advised as well. After some enlightening research, the price
per stall is roughly $890. This puts the total cost of new and advanced stalls at an arbitrary total of
an estimated $22,250. Due to the fact that the school s maximum price for renovations with this
project is understandably $10,000, for that reason and more, this solution simply fails miserably to
succeed. Grapevine Faith currently uses Latch and Keeper, Surface Mounted locks, and they sell at
$24 a piece at All Partition and Parts. This price is impractical because with the installation of new
stalls, comes new locks, and although tradition is usually a positive notion, this schools needs locks
that will sustain long term and provide the privacy that every member of Grapevine Faith deserves.
Replacing the stalls completely would consist of the execution of the current stalls, the
inconvenience of not having bathrooms during the upgrade, the dollar amount that is not within the
budget, and the idea of absolutely unnecessary time and effort being put into this project that has an

What Is The Theme Of Conflict In Lord Of The Flies
The book Lord of the Flies was written after the author William Golding came back from second
world war. William golding used his experiences from the conflict of the war to write a book that
has conflict as the core message. This is shown by the direct war between civiliation and
savagary. It is also shown by the underline descriptions of the children being opposite to each
other. The first point in the book is the conflict between civilation and savagary. The conflict
between these two areas are shown by the using imagery of the two characters who represent
them. This is shown by the decription of both ralph and jack, the protaganist and the antagonist.
Ralph is shown within this book as The boy with fair hair , the fair mentioned in this quote
shows not only the colour of the boys hair but also has a double meaning for the boy s nature.
This shows that the boy is fair , kind, civilised. The colour of the boy s hair also can symbolised
that he is neutral or even kind because of the fair colour (i.e white/blond)is lacking darkness... Show

The main quotes that show the island are The shore was fleged with palm trees and The long
scar smashed into the jungle . These quotes present the island as both hell and paradise. This can
be seen by the imagary of the palm trees and the language used to describe the parts of the island
such as scar and how the smash into the island. Both these words are veery negative showing
that the island is much like hell but the children see it as paradise because there are no parents
that is why it is show in both ways. The book The Lord of the Flies has the message of confict to
the core. This in my opinion is used to give the user insight into a battlefield. I belive that the
writer has used children to make the point more absorable and more understandable from all walks
of life. The writer has used his expeeriences to give the conflict in this book meaning and

When these steps are properly followed, then such evidence as an item should be labelled as
Biohazard and handled accordingly and send to the lab. GSR can be collected from a subject s

August 13).
A component of ammunition (casing and/or projectile) from the crime scene can be identified to the
firearm that fired it to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty Hernandez, G. (n.d.). At any
given time that a weapon is fired, there is that natural tendency that a unique print is left on the
fired weapon. This print appears in the form of unique impressions or striations also called tool
marks. The Evidence of Casing or projectile from any crime scene would be traced to a firearm in
the possession of a potential suspect, and would represent as an evidence against that suspect.
Casings found at the crime scene can be perfectly matched back to the gun in the possession of a
suspect and should be packaged separately and put in paper envelopes or small cardboards

in cases where knives or other sharp objects are being recovered at the scene and are to be sent to

Management System
Introduction:
The paper deals with the current use of Project management in the software applications. Project
management is the science (and art) of organizing the components of a project, whether the
development of a new product or the launch of a new service. It is not something that s a part of
normal business operations. A projectconsumes resources and it has funding limits. Lehner (2010)
stated that project knowledge management process is playing a key role in the organizations and
reinforcing them to manage the entire activities of the organizations. In this paper we are

good and bad behavior ( Morality ). Most heroes are seen in a very controversial light, but
Batman takes the cake. Bruce Wayne, or Batman, is a vigilante hero who is looking for vengeance
for his parents deaths. Wayne has been known to kill many people in the comics and in some of the

Batman is also a huge problem for the government, showing how little power even the
government has over it s people. Batman only wants to better Gotham, which is why he s willing
to endure the hatred of his home if that s what it takes to build the city into something durable,
Jamelle Bouie states (Davidson). Batman is a voice for the voiceless and shows the citizens of not
only Gotham but for the American citizen as well that they have a voice and that they can take
control of an situation they feel that they need to. He makes the government feel as if they are not
safe and makes them question everything they have ever done. Without Batman, some would not
have the chance to speak up and focus all of their hate onto him instead of putting that hate against
something that could harm them. He, in the end of it all, shows that anyone can be a hero and that

German Art Observation Paper
I visited Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the exhibition named Form in Fragments:
Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism.
The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz
Marc, Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract
film by Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled
Hoffmannesque Scene caught my eye.
Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was
created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that
was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including

The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These
undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same
time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no
particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention.
However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination
of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends
harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even
though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody,
especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of
color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike.
Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her

Coca Cola And Its Impact On Society
Coca Cola a leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of soft drink products. Coca Cola
was not always the sugary syrup soft drink most people know today. As a matter of fact, before
1886 Coca Cola was made with alcohol and cocaine. Concocted by Dr. John Pemberton a
pharmacist in Atlanta Georgia Coca Cola was originally named Pemberton s French Wine Coca.
Dr. Pemberton marketed the drink as a cure all for mental and physical disorders and was sold
from a soda fountain at his local drug store. A step ahead of prohibition, Dr. Pemberton replace
the wine in his formula with a sugary syrup. The cocaine portion of Coca Cola was removed
before 1914 when cocaine was deemed illegal in the United States of America. Coca Cola as we
know today still contains coca but the narcotic portion of cocaine, it is removed. Today, Coca
Cola has expanded to over 200+ countries. From concerts to sport venues to local restaurants you
are more than likely to come across a Coca Cola product, Coca Cola has had such an impact on
society that it is given credit for how we portray Santa Clause today. Other credits should also be
given to Coca Cola like an increase in diabetes and other diseases. Coca Cola has been known to

Notes On The And Binary Conversion
6. Gray to Binary Conversion A binary image is the matrix comprising of only 0 s(black) and 1
s(white). It can be implemented by using the command im2bw in MATLAB. Thresholding concept
has been used in this algorithm. The threshold concept works by choosing a threshold value, T,
automatically and then extract (or separate) object from background. The threshold function of the
binary image is defined as g(x,y) = {█(a,if (x,y) T@b,if (x,y)≤T)┤ Pixels having a value
correspond to object and pixels with b value correspond to background. Usually, a=1 (white) and
b=0(black) by convention. When T is a constant applicable over an entire image, the above
equation is referred to as Global thresholding. In the algorithm, global thresholding concept is
used. Enhanced image is converted into binary format by using the command im2bw and the
resultant image is shown below Fig. 11 Gray to Binary conversion 7. Morphological Operations
Morphological operators take a binary image and structuring element as an input and combine
them using a set operator such as union and intersection. Structuring element have dimension of
3*3 and its origin is at the center pixel. The pixels of the structuring element are compared with
each pixel of an image. If it matches the condition defined by the set operator then the pixel is set
to a pre defined value (0 or 1 for binary images). There are two basic types of morphological
operator, which is used in this algorithm. 7.1 Dilation Dilation

Examples Of Archetypes In The Lamb By William Blake
True Meaning
(A discussion on Blake s Archetypes)
An archetype is defined as a recurrent symbol in literature, art, and mythology. Usually an
archetype is a character in a story that represents such universal patterns of human nature.
William Blake is a poet and an artist during the 1800 s who used archetypes in many of his writing
s he wrote. Blake published two books of poems, one being called Songs of Innocence, and Songs
of experience, these two books of poems are his most known writings. William Blake uses
archetypes in his four poems The Lamb , The Tyger, The Chimney Sweeper , and Infant Sorrow .
In The Lamb , the lamb is the archetype that symbolizes as cute and sweet. In the poem Blake s
describes the lamb as softest clothing of delight . He explains the lambs wool as soft and
elegant. Blake talks about the lambs sound explaining Gave thee such a tender voice, making all
the vales rejoice. Blake explains that the lambs noise can make the most depressed valley s happy
with joy. The lamb is symbolized as sweet an innocent. Blake decided that the lamb is one of God s
great creations.
In The Tyger Blake uses the tyger as an archetype of power. Tigers in the real world today are the
biggest killing/hunting machines, and they never let anything get in their way. Tigers want all
the power. Blake explains What immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry? . He
uses the word fearful in that sentence to describe the tigers face. He also used the word could in
the quote above, but also restates the statement using dare instead of could. Blake is trying to
get at how could someone make something so destructive and demanding. Blake uses fire to
describe the tiger several times. For example, In what distant deeps or skies burnt the fire of
thine eyes. Blake s uses fire to describe the tiger because they share similar qualities, such as

Canadian Multiculturalism Analysis
Evaluate the success of Canadian multiculturalism.
There are many meanings associated with multiculturalism. However the actuality of the world
means many cultures. Canada s multiculturalism has been greatly successful since 1971, when
Canada was the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism as an official policy. Canadahas
used multiculturalism to acknowledge equality of all Canadian citizens despite their ethnicity, race
or religion. Multiculturalism helps ensure that all citizens throughout the country can preserve their
own culture and heritage while still feeling at home in Canada. No matter where you come from
and what ethic background you are, you will be accepted into Canada without prejudice or
discrimination.

All of these rights are also stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is part of
the Canadian Constitution. The Canadian Multiculturalism Act has two fundamental principles: all
citizens are equal and have the freedom to preserve, enhance and share their cultural heritage and
multiculturalism promotes the full and equitable participation of individuals and communities of
all origins in all aspects of Canadian society. The concept was again acknowledged in the Charter of
Rights and Freedoms of 1982, which states that the Charter itself shall be interpreted in a manner
consistent with the preservation and enhancement of the multicultural heritage of Canadians.

Research Paper About An Event That Changed My Life
A lot of people experience events that change their lives; some are more difficult to deal with. An
event that changed my life was moving from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. I lived I Pennsylvania
for 11 years after my parents split up. I have currently been living in New Jersey with my dad for
about 2 years. Moving at this age was very difficult because it is hard to make friends with new
people since everyone already has a group of friends. It was hard to fit into a new group of friends

The Contributions Of Alexander Hamilton And George Washington
I am not throwing away my shot! Alexander Hamilton was one of our founding fathers, he was an
important part of history. He aided George Washington many times, becoming his right hand man.
He took chances away from Aaron Burr, and prevented him from becoming president. Most
importantly, he was shot by Aaron Burr in a duel. Alexander aided George Washington until his
1783 resignation from being president. Hamilton became Washington s aid in 1777, writing many
things for him. He let Hamilton lead troops in The Battle of Yorktown. Alexander wrote George s
farewell address for him in 1796. He did not want to run for another term, which allowed Burr and
Jefferson to run for president. Aaron Burr was one of Hamilton s enemies,

Otto Von Bismarck Impact On Germany
The nation of Germany has had a significant impact on the history of the world. In the early
twentieth century the country presented itself as one of the strongest military powers of Europe
and a major participant of the First World War. In the mid twentieth century, under the command of
Adolf Hitler, Germany initiated the Second World War. Today, Germany is an economically
developed nation, even with the many troubles it faced after the end of the Second World War. This
major power, which caused a stir in the twentieth century, was in most part created by the Junker
Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck used the system of realpolitik to unite the divided German states
under Prussia. Had Bismarck not been involved in the German unification, it is extremely likely that
the powerful German empirewhich made its mark in history would not exist and the impacts it
made on the world would be nullified.
Otto von Bismarck was the son of a Brandenburg squire and a wealthy mother. Bismarck s mother
sent him to Berlin for schooling so he could one day have a career in Prussian civil service. After ...

Ph Levels Lab Report Essay
The relatively close pH levels of Tap Water, Spring Water,
Flavored Water, and Seltzer Water.
Introduction
This experiment was performed to investigate the following hypothesis: The following four
different types of drinking water (spring water, seltzer water, tap water, and flavored water) we test
will relatively have the same pH level.
Our group decided to test different types of drinking water to see if a pH level of tap water is
comparable to other types of water. Many people believe that city water has many chemicals,
causing us to form the expirement to see how close the different types of drinking water s pH
levels are.

We then moved the electrode in one of the beakers of water we wanted to test. We measured the
pH level, recorded it, then placed it back into the clean water it was orignally in. We repeated these
steps for each of the different type of drinking water.
The control treatment in our expirement was thr red cabbage indicator. The dependent variable
is the pH of the water. The independent variable is the different types of drinking water ( tap
water, spring water, seltzer water, and flavored water). The standard variables in the expirement
are the clean test tubes, the clean pipettes, the Paraflim, the pH tester, and the pH levels pH 2, pH
4, pH 6, pH 7, pH 8, pH 10, and pH 12.
Results
Table 1 shows the standard of the standard of the expirement. It is used to compare the color of
the red cabbage expirement to form an educated guess on the pH level of the different types of
water. Table 2 shows the pH numbers we got from the red cabbage expirement and from the pH
tester. This informations enables to compare the red cabbage and the pH tester numbers in order
to prove the red cabbages accuaracy, and to prove our hypothesis that all of the pH numbers of the
different types of drinking water are relatively close.

Hyperboles In The Odyssey
Homer first utilizes hyperboles to express the hazard of the situation that Odysseus and his men
face. One of Odysseus men Eurylochus is the first one to face Circe s wrath as when one of the
men manages to escape her lair. He then recounts the perilous adventure to the rest of the men,
demonstrating the precariousness of the situation but his prevailing wit to stay back and not be
seduced by Circe s advances. This riskiness of the situation is first demonstrated Eurylochus comes
back to the men on the ship in tears numbing sorrow had stunned [him] to silence tears welled in
his eyes, his heart possessed by grief (272 273). Homer uses alliteration in sorrow stunned and
silence that demonstrates the strong desolation and overall emotional pain that Eurylochus felt, after

Primarily, Hermes informs Odysseus of his men s dire situation and Circe s potential harm. Firstly,
Homer uses imagery to depict that Odysseus men have been changed in form as Circe decided to
turn them into pigs: ...Your men are all in there, in Circe s palace, cooped like swine, hock by

there is once again a hint at the potential risk Odysseus could be in because he could be turned
into a swine like the rest of his men were. Finally, Hermes departs with fair warning by saying
but have her swear the binding oath of the blessed gods she ll never plot some new intrigue to

The Comparison And Contrast Of The 1905 And February...
The Comparison and Contrast of The 1905 and February Revolution There is a substantial
difference between the 1905 Russian Revolution and the February Russian Revolution. To begin
with, a revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in
government and in related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two
revolutions were somewhat similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the
similarities. The origins of the two revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long
term discontent such as the dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic
policies of squeezing the peasants out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression
of intelligentsia that occured to stop the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to
adapt to. Also, the nationalism of minority groups submitted to Russification was growing. While

During the 1905 revolution, 400,000 peasants went on strike. The February revolution also had
the soldiers on its side one of the main reasons why the 1905 revolution was not a success, was
that soldiers were ordered to shoot at the civilians (such as during Bloody Sunday, the spark of
the 1905 revolution, during which shots were fired at peaceful protesters) while during the
February Revolution the soldiers refused to shoot at the protesting crowds and eventually joined
in the protests against the Tsar, whose support was fastly eroding. Officers were beaten up and
even killed and therefore Nicholas II lost control of the army. This is extremely significant as with
the soldiers battling against oppressive autocracy, there was a small line of defense for the Tsar and
opposition to the Revolution could be taken out easily (such as police). With the majority of people
against the Tsar, united in their battle, their chances of success

I. Abstract
The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would
affect the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to
gather results with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was
conducted. Measuring the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team
hypothesized that the water from Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from
Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered
show a surprising find in this study.
II. Introduction
Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms
depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of
beans. Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types
of waters that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans.
The first week was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant
observation of growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a
difference that different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain

The Civil Litigation Process
The civil litigation process goes through many steps and is very time consuming. During the
pretrial, it starts with pleadings where the complaint from the plaintiff and the answer from the

The Reason Why La Tomatina
The reason why La Tomatina is a big deal for people because it is a colorful tradition and make a

people came to this special celebration created a success. Last year s event bought some forty

people who were joining the fight. It is almost unimportant in the landscape of popular Spanish
celebrations. It was virtually unknown outside of the small village where it is held until
somehow it caught the eye of some major media outlet. Another reason why some people do not
participate is because they do not like tomato to be thrown at. They replied that it is messy and
people get hurt if they slip over. In this special celebration, there is no political or religion
importance to La Tomatina. In 1980, the organization of the festival became the responsibility of
the town. Soon this celebration became internationally considerable and highly broadcasted by the
use of international media. In the beginning, it was forbidden in the early 1950 s but people
spoke and the celebration was allowed with more contestants and more frenetic feelings. The

Hydrochloric acid is a very strong acid and it can digest any that contact with it. At high
temperature, hydrochloric acid can act as chemical enzyme which can hydrolyses polysaccharide.
Hydrochloric acid can break down solution B and starch which are polysaccharide to their
respective monosaccharide. Temperatures may have affect the substances such as solutions A and
B, saliva, and hydrochloric acid. Saliva is a type of biological enzyme needs an optimum
temperature of 37В°C to carry out high activity. High temperature causes amylase to become
denatured, and the shape of the active site changes, because the bonds in the enzymes are broken
because of the heat energy gained to brak the bond. When an enzyme is denatured, it cannot
function, hence , no catalyse biological reaction. When solution B is under high temperature,
solution B gains heat, which is converted to kinetic energy. Solution B thus have high kinetic
energy, and its easier to be catalyzed because the activation energy is achieved easily. Because it
has high kinetic energy, the solution can be catalyzed by the hydrochloric acid.
The product that formed after hydrolysed is broken to monosaccharide which are glucose
molecules. This is because glucose is a type of reducing sugar that can turns Benedict s solution
from blue to brick red precipitate. Starch and glucose are consider as carbohydrate . Figure below

I must admit I have never heard of a Ruger Scout Rifle until reading this article. Looking at the
diagrams it kind of reminds me of M 14 carbine with a modern upgrade. Call me old fashion but I
am not sold 100% on synthetic stocks for rifles, except of course the AR 15 platform. I will have
to seek out a Ruger Scout Rifle and see what it is about. As far as the article this week it does not
give any troubleshooting advice on the Ruger Scout, but does offer some solid advice on the
disassembly of the rifle. The author is very adamant not to open then firing pin assembly as this
is restricted to the factory. This is due to very powerful springs and the need to proprietary tools.
It appears the biggest headache in disassembling the Scout is the forward mounting screw and

Killing Reagan By Bill O Reilly And Martin Dugard
Killing Reagan was wrote by Bill O Reilly and Martin Dugard as a part of their series to talk
about the deaths, assassination, and near deaths of certain historical people. O Reilly and Dugard
write about the events leading up to the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan including
discussing the attempted assassin, John Hinckley, and the events after up until his death. The
authors present the viewpoint as if one were there to witness the lives of the people in the book.
Killing Reagan talks about the politics during Reagan s life and presidency to tell about who
Ronald Reaganwas and his ideas that influenced a presidency. Some things a reader may want to
know before starting this book is a basic idea of the events and politics of the twentieth century,
especially those after WWII. Overall, it is easy for just about anyone to understand.
Killing Reagan starts the prologue with the sentence The man who has one minute to live is no
longer confused (O Reilly and Dugard 1) as he discusses who is in the room with him, including
his two kids, Ron and Patti, and his wife, Nancy Reagan. The authors also talk about what caused
his death, dementia that started ten years ago that caused him to not make a public appearance in
that time period. The authors go into the first chapter discussing the winning debate that probably
gave him the presidency that happened a week before the election. The authors then talk about how
former President Carter won past debates against Gerald R.

The Sculpture On South Campus At Moravian College
The sculpture on South Campus at Moravian College commonly known as Moravian Roots One
and Two, who was created by Steve Tobin in 2010 has a significant meaning behind the moderately
new sculpture. There are two of the same types of sculptures in the same place, just distance away
from one another. This sculptureseems to be abstract, since we are taking the form of what it
looks like to create a meaning, which can be something different in other people s eyes. The
sculpture is a dark black shade that naturally blends in with the surroundings, therefore making it
blend in with its natural surroundings. The negative space between the roots are easily seen
since its roots are based in various directions, showing us how far the roots of the sculpture and
realistically Moravian has grown. There is no base or pedestals for these two sculptures who go
hand in hand together, but it is roughly around five feet standing upward and going in sporadic
directions, to signify differences. They are roundly shaped with carved pointed edges giving the
image that it is like a tree root or branch, being slightly pointed on the top. The inner parts of the
tree roots are textured off to have a little dots making it a bit rougher than the soft and smooth
outer sides that we see from a distance. There seems to be no said real front or back side to this
piece because the tree roots go in different directions, therefore giving the observer a chance to
decide which way they would like to view it.

Essay about Angola
In past centuries, Angola was among the areas most devastated by the slave trade. In recent
decades, it has been afflicted with wars. However, in both eras, much of the violence was driven
by powerful external forces. This is because Angola, with an abundance of oil and other
resources, could develop into a very prosperous country if led and controlled by the right power.
In 1975 Angola was released from colonialism by Portugal. This pivotal event in history sparked
the beginning of a massive conflict between many of the key players in world power. These key
players included the United States, Cuba, China, and the Soviet Union.
After reading three separate accounts of the crisis in Angola (U.S. Senate ... Show more content on

Kissinger also noted this $300,000, which was given to Holden Roberto, was the first U.S. aid to

This contradiction is most likely due to the differences in position between the three men.

The Road That Led African Americans
The road that led African Americans to freedom in the United States was definitely not an easy
road by any means. It was indeed a stony road, and the chastening rod is used here to describe the
harshness associated with slavery and the masters cracking the whip, or rod. So much blood was
shed during this point in time, before Reconstruction (during the Civil War), and after
Reconstruction and the period leading up to the Harlem Renaissance. In fact, even after African
Americans had gained their freedom they still experienced abuse, inequality, and suffering at
the hands of their White counterparts. The Jim Crow Laws were enacted and in effect in the
South, which led to the mass migration to the North, and even in the North, Blacks still
experienced some indifference, though not on the same scale as they had in the South. In Lift
Every Voice and Sing, Johnson uses rhyming which of course is standard of most poetry. He also
uses simile in line five with his comparison of how the sound of joy should be loud like that of
the rolling sea. Lift Every Voice and Sing is both carefully and craftily composed, and uses vivid
imagery as well as religious theme, which is also prevalent in a majority of Johnson s works,
again displaying his strong Christian faith. This poem has become so well known, and so popular,
that it was recited by Reverend Joseph E. Lowery at the Inauguration ceremony of President
Barack Obama in 2009. In 2008 Rene Marie, a jazz musician substituted the words

This doesn t mean selling yourself short but if you want a raise, you have to be able to justify why
you are worth it. If you can show on paper why your boss should pay you $1 million, then go ahead
and do it. But if you can t, you want to ask for a raise that s closer to the value you add to the
company.
So, how can you pick a realistic figure? How do you ensure you aren t asking for something
unattainable while also ensuring you aren t asking for too little? Before you walk into the
negotiating room, you need to conduct research.
To determine what you should earn, you should take the following steps:
List your current tasks and responsibilities. Look at your job contract and write down the tasks and

The notion of difference among the sexes has been studied extensively in terms of cognition and
brain activity. An MRI can back these claims, showing male and female brains lighting up in
different locations based upon different stimuli. Anyone with a close relationship to a child can
attest to the fact that they were born with certain traits. Perhaps their nephew is very shy, while
their niece has never met a stranger. In other words, some difference among individuals is innate,
fundamental. This notion has been applied to studies in the animal world. Susan Allport, author of

In her article What Abu Ghraib Taught Me , Barbara Ehrenreich recounts her the process by which
she became disillusioned with the notion of female moral superiority. Despite claiming that she
never believed that women were inherently gentler and less aggressive than men , Ehrenreich
divulges her shock at the images of Spc.s Megan Ambuhl, Sabrina Harman, and Lynndie England,
stating secretly, I hoped that the presence of women would over time change the military, making
it more respectful...but I don t think that anymore. Ehrenreich lays the foundation for a concise
argument for gender equality; namely, if women want to achieve equality, they must let go of the
notions of higher moral existence. In other words, if women are as good as men, they are also as
bad as men. The message becomes somewhat convoluted as Ehrenreich seems unable to let go of
the idea that women may still be able to change corrupt, male dominated systems. She proves
herself an optimist in favor of the difference feminism she previously decried, qualifying her
argument with the belief that women do not change institutions simply by assimilating into them,
only by consciously deciding to fight for change. We need a feminism that teaches women to say no.
While Ehrenreich s remarks seem highly contradictory, within them lies an inherent paradox of the
role of women in male dominated systems. Perhaps

Examples Of Motivation In Beowulf
Beowulf s Motivation
(An educational research on why Beowulf did what he did) Beowulf was the first example of an
epic hero. Beowulf was a poem that some scholars have suggested was made at the end of the 10th
century (Harrison, Beowulf). The question of why Beowulf does things he does always comes into
play. The story of Beowulf starts off when he is in Geatland and hears that the Danes are being
attacked by a monster. Beowulf sails to Denmark to help them. It should be noted that the Geats
and Danes are not friendly towards each other. Beowulf defeats both monsters that attack Heorot
Hall and returns to Geatland to become king. After an honorable fifty year reign a dragon starts
attacking Geatland. He kills the dragon, but is mortally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why did he sail across the ocean just to help the Danes? Was it all really because he just wanted
to do his duty, or was it something more? Some say that Beowulf had an eagerness for glory and
fame (Snyder, Beowulf Themes). But then why did Beowulf do his duty. Some may say that
one can not be glorious until they have done their duty. Beowulf s father even said that his glory
is too great to forget (1221). Some might say that the only reason Beowulf traveled to Denmark
and risked his life defeating Grendel and Grendel s mother was so he could do his duty and get
all of the glory. Bigger than just doing his duty, Beowulf s motivation for saving The Danes from
Grendel and his mother was to become

Entrance examinations
The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is an annual college
entrance examination in India, used as the sole admission criterion by the IITs. The examination
is organised each year by one of the various IITs, using a round robin rotation pattern. It has a
very low admission rate (about 1 in 50 in 2011). A proposal for replacing (IIT JEE) with a
common engineering entrance examination was made in 2010 and but due to resistance from
many IIT s this proposel is still under consideration. For Post Graduate studies, the entrance is
conducted on the basis of the Gate score card which is organised by IISC, Bangalore and IIT s
followed by written tests and interviews by the respective IIT s.
New Admission Policy of IITs

been an up and down ride throughout history, but once many people start to show serious interest

their views on the budget cuts, the more attention is being brought towards the issue. Action needs

Peter Paul Rubens Raising Of The Cross Essay
The piece that stood out to me the most from the readings was Peter Paul Rubens The Raising of
the Cross. I believe the piece is a culmination of influences from his predecessors and
contemporaries and religious works of the Baroque period. I also see this work in particular as a
very obvious embodiment of emotional realist art, though with its own original and unique
interpretation of the art style. It is apparent that the Carracci brothers Ceiling of Gallery inspired
Rubens work. From studying their work, Rubens learned anatomical accuracy and realistic
physical representations of bodies. In Ruben s painting, the bodies depicted are all realistic and
anatomically probable, a stark contrast from early humanist work which illustrated huge, heroic,
near science defying bodies that were more akin to mythology than actual beings. The figures in
Rubens work are certainly idealized, with Christ being very muscular himself, but there is also
believability to their depictions. For example, the old woman on the side mourning Christ s
crucifixion is thoroughly detailed, and simply looks to be real, or something we would perceive in
day to day life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caravaggio was known for his realistic, dramatic, emotion evoking works, which is mirrored in
Rubens The Raising of the Cross. Rubens painting evokes a lot of emotions for the audience and
transcends classical art forms that simply evoked thoughts detached of emotion. Rubens also
utilized a technique that Caravaggio popularized: tenebrism. In the Raising of the Cross, all
peripheral figures are dimmed and in the dark, while Christ, the focal point has a bright light cast
upon him, to draw viewers closer to Christ, literally and

Lake Victoria Of The East African Rift Valley
Lake Victoria in the East African Rift Valley is young compared to the surrounding lakes in the
region. Despite this, the haplochromine cichlid fish that inhabit this lake have shown rapid
evolution. The lake was formed by a combination of tectonic movement and river water reversal
of an ancient drainage system in the Pleistocene. The lake is also shallow compared to others in
the area (a maximum depth of 69 meters), so it is unlikely that the resident cichlids could have
survived in pools during the lake s desiccation in the late Pleistocene (Coyne and Orr, 2004). In
fact, work from 1995 1996 suggests that the lake became completely desiccated in the deepest part
of the basin. Therefore, fish could not have possibly found refuge in satellite lakes, and the
hundreds of observed cichlidspecies in the lake must have then evolved within the past 200,000
years, and much more rapidly within the past 12,000 years (Johnson et al., 1996). However, if the
lake was dry during the Pleistocene then the source of founding cichlids remains a mystery. It has
been proposed that springs were indeed left behind as refuge for fish meaning the fish are actually
much older (Coyne and Orr, 2004).
Genetic testing dates the origin of modern haplochromine haplotypes at between 98,000 133,000
years ago. Regardless of the age of the fish, haplochromine sympatric speciation raises many
questions. The ecological differences within Lake Victoriaare not drastic, which means that all

  • 2. Christianity In The Chronicles Of Narnia Christian ideals in children s literature pose a serious threat to individuality. Clive Staples Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia in 1950, he hoped to write a book even non religious people could pick up and read. Being his most popular book, children and adults alike took to this book, along with theologians. His book is a complete copy of the Bible, only switched around to make fantastic settings and characters like Aslan the lion, the Jesus Christ of Narnia. He also uses children as the main characters so the younger audience can relate, again, making these children prone to choosing a religion early on. C.S. Lewis wrote wonderful books, but his push of Christianity is quite offensive to some readers. The most factual correlation between the Bible and The Chronicles of Narniais that they are both works of fiction. Christianity, and all religion, are ways for the uneducated to understand their world without science. Now, not all religious people are uneducated, yet they look for something higher than themselves, in fear there is actually nothing in the afterlife. Along with this, there is a lot of evil in the bible, If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edmund enters Narnia through the wardrobe and first finds the White Witch, who, in this story, is the Devil or demon character. In turn for his companionship, she offers him Turkish Delights, which Edmund develops an insatiable taste for. This is the sin of gluttony, and the White Witch is the temptress. Lewis chose a woman because throughout history, the person who tempts the protagonist is usually a woman or genderless being. Edmund soon realizes the White Witch s evil intentions. A rescue party is sent for Edmund after his realizations and he is almost killed. When found, Aslan essentially gambles his life for Edmunds, which is also a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Kahnemen s Business Model As online modes of payment threaten the traditional model, dealerships should adapt sales strategies to build trust with customers. The data shows that people are apprehensive about going into dealerships but do like being able to see the car in person where they can ask questions easily. Management policies should reframe themselves to eliminate short termism. This is a common tragedy seen in many firms. Thaler (p188) was teaching a class on decision making to a group of executives, he asked the group if they would undertake a project with a 50% risk of losing one million dollars and an equal chance of gaining double. Only three of the twenty three said they would do it. Then he changed the scenario so that the outcomes were all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Behavioural economists and psychologist alike have long experimented with framing, the way in which an offer is put in context matters in a world in which people are prone to bias. Framings role in marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by Kahnemen. Groups were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of getting $1000. The majority chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk averse. The second problem was a choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000, in this situation the majority took the risk. The lesson here as Kahnemen describes is that losses loom larger than gains . Similar experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing money if they have an equal chance of gaining twice that amount. So, when it comes to the discussed anchor price firms should instead set retail prices which include all extras or perhaps a range of prices rather than a single number for a vehicle. This means that consumers will have that higher number or range as an anchor by which they negotiate with. If salesmen fail to convince the customer to buy a certain extra they can revert to the default price. This makes the customer feel as if they are gaining more as they are giving up less than the retail price. Competition and pricing Pricing plays a key role in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hofstede s Improve Four Dimensions Helping Others Analysing 116 000 survey questionnaires, Hofstede s improve four dimensions helping others to understand different culture behaviour. These dimensions were created based on simple problems that most societies have every day. The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as inequality at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken into account, managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats superiors, centralized structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors have benefits. The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in low and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue, not structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the better knowledge. • 5. Lines Written A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey During the eighteenth century, it was a time where people were obsessed with rationality and scientific precision. In response to this, artists created a literary movement the Romantic period. This period was not just about love stories; it was a social movement revolved around the concept of imagination. Poets used imagination to escape the troubles going on in the real world. Two authors who used their imagination during this timeare William Wordsworthand John Keats. Both Wordsworth and Coleridge use the imagination to escape their present reality. While Wordsworth s speaker in Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey succeeds in making his present moment better, in Keats La Belle Dame Sans Merci, the speaker gets trapped in a dangerous past. Even though they both used imagination, the outcome of it was different. Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey is about how we change over time and the realization of it. The speaker in this compares the person he used to be and the person he became. The speaker, remembers almost every detail from the past of Tintern Abbey that he used to visit. Wordsworth uses imagination by describing everything the speaker remembers what he saw and heard. From the sound of the mountain springs (3), this dark sycamore (10), and the hedge rows (14). These memories make him realize he has been cooped up in the city. The speaker claims these memories kept him sane while living in the din/ Of towns and cities (25 26). ... • 6. Lack Of Alcohol Consumption On Campus Universities and colleges in the United States are split up into different categories. Private, public, four years, and two years are just some of the different types of colleges in the United States. To be even more specific all colleges are broken down into two major categories: dry and wet campuses. Dry campus are basically universities that do not allow alcohol consumption on campus even if you are at the drinking age. Wet campuses are the exact opposite. Most wet campuses are huge schools where they can not control the alcohol consumption, such as the University of Connecticut, Penn State, etc. Dry campuses on the other hand are mostly smaller schools where alcohol consumption can be monitored. Examples of this are ECSU, and all the other Connecticut state schools. The reasons for these differences are because the universities are trying to decrease the amount of drinking on campus, but does this actually work? is the percentage of alcohol consumption lower on dry campuses than wet campuses? After researching these topics and experiencing this first hand it is clear that the percentage of alcohol consumption on dry campuses is not low enough compared to the percentage in wet campus, to be considered a good way of solving the problem of binge drinking in universities. Dry campus restrictions don t work because they don t impede students from buying alcohol, they don t impede them from drinking off campus, and they fail to prevent alcohol related incidents. • 7. Why The South Killed Reconstruction The South Killed Reconstruction After the Civil War, there was still question about who had overall killed Reconstruction. They both had a lot to do with it, but the south had more to do with it. The KKK was killing important people just to prove a point. Life was hard for African Americans in this time because Southern people wanted slavery to continue even after it was abolished. African americans were bribed to vote for who the kkk wanted. There was a lot of racism.I think the south killed reconstruction because of bribery, the killing of scalawags and carpetbaggers, and who they voted for. I think the South killed Reconstruction efforts by bribing African Americans They offered me $5,000 to go with them and said they would pay me $2,500 in cash if I would let another man go to legislature in my place. (Colby 513) This gives evidence that the KKK was bribing African Americans to do what they wanted. They set in and whipped me a thousand licks more, with sticks and straps that had buckles on the ends of them. (Colby 513) This shows that the KKK was beating and whipping African Americans if they refused their offer. Although, the North could be held at fault because they did not take the... (Tourgee 511) This quote shows that the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was killing Northerners who were trying to keep Reconstruction efforts going. The picture in Document A depicts a donkey, labelled the KKK, walking away after hanging a carpetbaggers and a scalawag. (Independent Monitor)It is for sure a carpetbaggers and a scalawag because the one is holding a briefcase and the other is dressed like a northerner. • 8. The Ancient Roman Empire Rome, the first long and lasting empire that swept through other nations like wildfire. Rome broke the barriers of politics and government. Rome also stood for something that citizens of today look at as grotesque and savage. The fact that citizens would come together and cheer for another man while he plunged his sword through his chest, with no understanding of life or family. The building that represented this evil act is the Roman Coliseum. Although inside the coliseum death was glorified and wished for the idea and meaning demonstrated politics and power. Rome was powerful in all meaning of the power. Power is defined as the capability or the ability to direct or influence the behaviors of others or the course of events. (sited by Dictornary.com). Rome certainly did this in a lot of ways. Rome has both influenced culture and many other things. Rome itself stood over the world like a shining example of an empire. Also, one of the most important people in this colossal empire, was the emperor himself. One man that almost every dictator looks to as a shining example is Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar traveled a lot as kid. And when he was young he was kidnapped by pirates. He also traveled around the world to study and became a great war general (sited by vroma.org). Statues of him still are in a lot of museums and public places. He has made an impact to the old world so big that it moved cultures and united ideas. • 9. What Is Cultural Relativism 1. Cultural relativism relies on social ideals to dictate whether or not something is morally right or wrong while ethical subjectivism that truth moral standard are dictated by each individual. These forms of moral skepticism are completely inconsistent with ethical objectivism since it views moral as something completely untouched by any beliefs, desires, and will. 3. Ethical subjectivism makes us morally infallible by making morality in the eye of the beholder, which pretty much would lead us to believe that every individual is morally right. But this is simply cannot be true since that would mean that an individual s thinking could be based off bias, prejudice, ignorance, etc. and still not be mistaken. 5. Some would say that ethical subjectivism would generate contradictions and they would be correct. Two individuals could agree and disagree respectively on whether or not New Jersey is on the east coast, but then those theories would be inconsistent and contradict each other. But luckily for the subjectivist, they found the perfect comeback for this critique, making it morally impossible to disagree with anyone in the process. A subjectivist can say that they personally do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two types of moral nihilism: error theory and expressivism. Error theory is the theory where our moral judgement are wrong, that they re pretty much a sham. This theory could be compared to atheism in a manner, especially since atheists and error theorist go against widely viewed ideals (a.e. God and moral respectively). Expressivism might seem similar to error theory, but they differ in a large way. They do not believe that any moral are true or false or have any moral value whatsoever. Expressivists also believe that while moral judgement might look like they are moral facts, but really those judgements are just us expressing emotions, showing our approval or disapproval in something. • 10. The Development Of Absolutism During The Nineteenth... In the course of the seventeenth century, there were many political and religious conflicts within Europe. These struggles affected countless nations across the continent, but almost none were as troubled as France due to the years of religious wars fought out within their territories, which caused widespread chaos in their lands. Both, the upper and lower class citizens were exhausted by these conflicts and were supportive of a new style of government. In attempt to maintain the integrity and stability of their country, French kings started to gradually adopt the political ideal of absolutism to maintain total control over their nation. The final goal of this ideal was to achieve the good of the state and a higher level of national existence. The development of absolutism in France can be thoroughly analyzed both in theory and in practice by looking at three kings and their cardinal advisors who consecutively ruled France leading up too, and in the seventeenth century. This development of absolutism can be firstly seen through Henry the fourth, followed by Louis the thirteenth and most prominently in Louis the fourteenth. In the last quarter of the sixteenth century, France was in the middle of its wars of religion, otherwise known as the Huguenot Wars. These wars were fought between the reformed Protestants and Catholics which lead to the death of approximately three million people. In addition to this, these conflicts also caused widespread disease and starvation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grapevine Faith Classroom An individual s equitable right to their protection of privacy is fundamental as it upholds respect, maintains appropriate social boundaries, and guarantees their freedom of growth as an entity. The ability to affirm one s necessity of privacy is imperative to the development of who they are, and how they form an identity that is not dictated by the social conditions that directly or indirectly influence their thinking, decisions, and behaviors. The abuse of personal privacy causes for a disturbance of success as an independent human being. The recurring concern of making privacy a priority at Grapevine Faith Christian School seemingly appears to be insufficient in meeting the requirements of students and faculty. This puts the total cost of new and advanced stalls at an arbitrary total of an estimated $22,250. Due to the fact that the school s maximum price for renovations with this project is understandably $10,000, for that reason and more, this solution simply fails miserably to succeed. Grapevine Faith currently uses Latch and Keeper, Surface Mounted locks, and they sell at $24 a piece at All Partition and Parts. This price is impractical because with the installation of new stalls, comes new locks, and although tradition is usually a positive notion, this schools needs locks that will sustain long term and provide the privacy that every member of Grapevine Faith deserves. Replacing the stalls completely would consist of the execution of the current stalls, the inconvenience of not having bathrooms during the upgrade, the dollar amount that is not within the budget, and the idea of absolutely unnecessary time and effort being put into this project that has an easier ... • 12. What Is The Theme Of Conflict In Lord Of The Flies The book Lord of the Flies was written after the author William Golding came back from second world war. William golding used his experiences from the conflict of the war to write a book that has conflict as the core message. This is shown by the direct war between civiliation and savagary. It is also shown by the underline descriptions of the children being opposite to each other. The first point in the book is the conflict between civilation and savagary. The conflict between these two areas are shown by the using imagery of the two characters who represent them. This is shown by the decription of both ralph and jack, the protaganist and the antagonist. Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was created in 1921 in Germany. There is no particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention. However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody, especially moody and gentle jazz music. It can be implemented by using the command im2bw in MATLAB. Thresholding concept has been used in this algorithm. The threshold concept works by choosing a threshold value, T, automatically and then extract (or separate) object from background. The threshold function of the binary image is defined as g(x,y) = {в–€(a,if (x,y) T@b,if (x,y)≤T)┤ Pixels having a value correspond to object and pixels with b value correspond to background. Usually, a=1 (white) and b=0(black) by convention. When T is a constant applicable over an entire image, the above equation is referred to as Global thresholding. In the algorithm, global thresholding concept is used. He also used the word could in the quote above, but also restates the statement using dare instead of could. Blake is trying to get at how could someone make something so destructive and demanding. Blake uses fire to describe the tiger several times. For example, In what distant deeps or skies burnt the fire of thine eyes. Blake s uses fire to describe the tiger because they share similar qualities, such as being deadly and harmful to many living things. In the early twentieth century the country presented itself as one of the strongest military powers of Europe and a major participant of the First World War. In the mid twentieth century, under the command of Adolf Hitler, Germany initiated the Second World War. Today, Germany is an economically developed nation, even with the many troubles it faced after the end of the Second World War. This major power, which caused a stir in the twentieth century, was in most part created by the Junker Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck used the system of realpolitik to unite the divided German states under Prussia. Had Bismarck not been involved in the German unification, it is extremely likely that the powerful German empirewhich made its mark in history would not exist and the impacts it made on the world would be nullified. He then recounts the perilous adventure to the rest of the men, demonstrating the precariousness of the situation but his prevailing wit to stay back and not be seduced by Circe s advances. This riskiness of the situation is first demonstrated Eurylochus comes back to the men on the ship in tears numbing sorrow had stunned [him] to silence tears welled in his eyes, his heart possessed by grief (272 273). Primarily, Hermes informs Odysseus of his men s dire situation and Circe s potential harm. Firstly, Homer uses imagery to depict that Odysseus men have been changed in form as Circe decided to turn them into pigs: ...Your men are all in there, in Circe s palace, cooped like swine, hock by jowl in the sties, (312 313). Here the reader can picture how squished the men are together and there is once again a hint at the potential risk Odysseus could be in because he could be turned into a swine like the rest of his men were. Finally, Hermes departs with fair warning by saying but have her swear the binding oath of the blessed gods she ll never plot some new intrigue to harm you (331 333). • 34. The Comparison And Contrast Of The 1905 And February... The Comparison and Contrast of The 1905 and February Revolution There is a substantial difference between the 1905 Russian Revolution and the February Russian Revolution. To begin with, a revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in government and in related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two revolutions were somewhat similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the similarities. The origins of the two revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long term discontent such as the dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic policies of squeezing the peasants out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression of intelligentsia that occured to stop the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to adapt to. Officers were beaten up and even killed and therefore Nicholas II lost control of the army. Abstract The purpose of this water experiment is to compare two sources of waters and see if they would affect the growth of beans. For the purpose of this test, multiple samples were implemented to gather results with as much accuracy as possible. Every two days a study of our beans was conducted. Measuring the growth/length of each bean. 40 samples were used. The team hypothesized that the water from Foster Lake would grow plants faster than the water from Kanakadea Creek due to the bio diverse nature of the lake and its inhabitants. The results gathered show a surprising find in this study. II. Introduction Water is the most natural thing we have on earth. It sustains many organisms and those organisms depend on it almost daily. Plants are such organisms. For this study the focus is the growth of beans. Over the course of two weeks my team and I conducted research comparing the two types of waters that were selected and seeing if they had any significant differences in growing beans. The first week was inconclusive due to bean rot and negligence. Test two led to a more constant observation of growth and change of location. Results gathered from this experiment have shown a difference that different waters may have on the growth of plants. Beans that consumed certain water sources ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Temperatures may have affect the substances such as solutions A and B, saliva, and hydrochloric acid. Saliva is a type of biological enzyme needs an optimum temperature of 37В°C to carry out high activity. High temperature causes amylase to become denatured, and the shape of the active site changes, because the bonds in the enzymes are broken because of the heat energy gained to brak the bond. When an enzyme is denatured, it cannot function, hence , no catalyse biological reaction. When solution B is under high temperature, solution B gains heat, which is converted to kinetic energy. Solution B thus have high kinetic energy, and its easier to be catalyzed because the activation energy is achieved easily. The Sculpture On South Campus At Moravian College The sculpture on South Campus at Moravian College commonly known as Moravian Roots One and Two, who was created by Steve Tobin in 2010 has a significant meaning behind the moderately new sculpture. There are two of the same types of sculptures in the same place, just distance away from one another. This sculptureseems to be abstract, since we are taking the form of what it looks like to create a meaning, which can be something different in other people s eyes. The sculpture is a dark black shade that naturally blends in with the surroundings, therefore making it blend in with its natural surroundings. The negative space between the roots are easily seen since its roots are based in various directions, showing us how far the roots of the sculpture and realistically Moravian has grown. There is no base or pedestals for these two sculptures who go hand in hand together, but it is roughly around five feet standing upward and going in sporadic directions, to signify differences. They are roundly shaped with carved pointed edges giving the image that it is like a tree root or branch, being slightly pointed on the top. The inner parts of the tree roots are textured off to have a little dots making it a bit rougher than the soft and smooth outer sides that we see from a distance. It was indeed a stony road, and the chastening rod is used here to describe the harshness associated with slavery and the masters cracking the whip, or rod. So much blood was shed during this point in time, before Reconstruction (during the Civil War), and after Reconstruction and the period leading up to the Harlem Renaissance. In fact, even after African Americans had gained their freedom they still experienced abuse, inequality, and suffering at the hands of their White counterparts. The Jim Crow Laws were enacted and in effect in the South, which led to the mass migration to the North, and even in the North, Blacks still experienced some indifference, though not on the same scale as they had in the South. • 56. Peter Paul Rubens Raising Of The Cross Essay The piece that stood out to me the most from the readings was Peter Paul Rubens The Raising of the Cross. I believe the piece is a culmination of influences from his predecessors and contemporaries and religious works of the Baroque period. I also see this work in particular as a very obvious embodiment of emotional realist art, though with its own original and unique interpretation of the art style. It is apparent that the Carracci brothers Ceiling of Gallery inspired Rubens work. From studying their work, Rubens learned anatomical accuracy and realistic physical representations of bodies. In Ruben s painting, the bodies depicted are all realistic and anatomically probable, a stark contrast from early humanist work which illustrated huge, heroic, near science defying bodies that were more akin to mythology than actual beings. The figures in Rubens work are certainly idealized, with Christ being very muscular himself, but there is also believability to their depictions. For example, the old woman on the side mourning Christ s crucifixion is thoroughly detailed, and simply looks to be real, or something we would perceive in day to day life.... Rubens painting evokes a lot of emotions for the audience and transcends classical art forms that simply evoked thoughts detached of emotion. Rubens also utilized a technique that Caravaggio popularized: tenebrism. In the Raising of the Cross, all peripheral figures are dimmed and in the dark, while Christ, the focal point has a bright light cast upon him, to draw viewers closer to Christ, literally and ... • 58. Lake Victoria Of The East African Rift Valley Lake Victoria in the East African Rift Valley is young compared to the surrounding lakes in the region. Despite this, the haplochromine cichlid fish that inhabit this lake have shown rapid evolution. The lake was formed by a combination of tectonic movement and river water reversal of an ancient drainage system in the Pleistocene. The lake is also shallow compared to others in the area (a maximum depth of 69 meters), so it is unlikely that the resident cichlids could have survived in pools during the lake s desiccation in the late Pleistocene (Coyne and Orr, 2004). In fact, work from 1995 1996 suggests that the lake became completely desiccated in the deepest part of the basin. Therefore, fish could not have possibly found refuge in satellite lakes, and the hundreds of observed cichlidspecies in the lake must have then evolved within the past 200,000 years, and much more rapidly within the past 12,000 years (Johnson et al., 1996). However, if the lake was dry during the Pleistocene then the source of founding cichlids remains a mystery. It has been proposed that springs were indeed left behind as refuge for fish meaning the fish are actually much older (Coyne and Orr, 2004). Genetic testing dates the origin of modern haplochromine haplotypes at between 98,000 133,000 years ago. Regardless of the age of the fish, haplochromine sympatric speciation raises many questions. The ecological differences within Lake Victoriaare not drastic, which means that all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
