Model Essays. A Model Essay Structure! A Guide to A Model Essay Structure.
1. Model Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Model Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that
demand a delicate balance of creativity, critical thinking, and academic prowess. The task begins
with the need to navigate through a vast sea of existing models, which serves as both a blessing
and a curse. On one hand, these examples provide valuable insights into effective essay
structures, styles, and argumentation techniques. On the other hand, the abundance of models
can be overwhelming, making it challenging to select the most relevant and impactful ones.
As an essayist delves into the process, the challenge intensifies as they must not merely replicate
existing models but also inject their unique voice and perspective into the narrative. Striking this
equilibrium is akin to a tightrope walk, demanding a nuanced understanding of the topic and a
keen awareness of one's own writing style. Moreover, the writer must seamlessly integrate their
ideas with the chosen models, creating a coherent and compelling tapestry of thoughts.
The research phase becomes a meticulous journey, requiring the identification of high-quality
models that align with the essay's theme while avoiding the pitfall of falling into a cycle of
redundancy. The synthesis of these models necessitates a deep comprehension of their
underlying arguments, allowing the essayist to blend them seamlessly into their own narrative.
This requires not only analytical skills but also a profound understanding of the nuances
embedded in each model.
Constructing a compelling thesis becomes a formidable task, as the writer must distill the
essence of their chosen models into a unique perspective that adds value to the existing
discourse. This demands a keen ability to identify gaps in the current understanding of the topic
and strategically position the essay within this intellectual landscape.
In the writing process, the challenge continues as the essayist must weave a coherent narrative
that seamlessly integrates personal insights with the chosen models. Maintaining a balance
between original thought and borrowed wisdom is a delicate dance that requires finesse and
precision.
Finally, the editing phase is critical, demanding a discerning eye to refine the essay's structure,
eliminate redundancies, and ensure a seamless flow of ideas. Striking the right balance between
clarity and complexity is paramount, as the essay should engage the reader without sacrificing
academic rigor.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Model Essays" is a complex undertaking that requires a
synthesis of analytical skills, creativity, and a profound understanding of the chosen models. It is
a meticulous process that challenges the writer to navigate through a sea of existing examples
while adding their unique perspective to the conversation.

And even today people talk about the interview and make jokes about it. The first

3. Essay about Those Winter Sundays
Those Winter Sundays Robert Hayden s, Those Winter Sundays , is a poem of a
son s regret over his inability to honor and appreciate his father during the course
of his upbringing. It uses one event to describe a father and son s entire
relationship. Actually, Those Winter Sundays is a poem written for Robert
Hayden s father. Although at first the poem does not seem to be a great tribute to
his father, Hayden s admiration and love for his father breaks through the lines. In
the poem, Hayden uses many descriptive words to set the scene for his work. His
vivid words help me to imagine how hard his father worked and sacrificed for his
family. When Hayden writes cracked hands that ached , he is using the cracked

The idea of chronic angers is introduced into the calm scene of the home in the
early morning. It seems as though the father was a harsh man who scared his
children but deep down he loved them very much. The chronic angers was what
made the children not realize his love. It was clear in Hayden s writing that anger
was a constant in the home; just as much a part of the mornings as the fire itself.
With the presence of anger in the home, Hayden implies that he had a poor
relationship with his father, although it may have been self protective, but
ungrateful. At the end of the poem, Hayden describes what he discovered looking
back on those mornings, What did I know, what did I know of love s austere and
lonely offices . The repetition of What did I know adds emphasis to this thought,
like Hayden is full of regret, wishing he had known, and had thanked his father for
what he had accomplished for his family. The words austere and lonely also carry
a lot of meaning that can be interpreted as a lack of caring, as well as the father s
harsh treatment of his children. As he grew up, Hayden realized that his father was
totally self sacrificing. His father took no thought for his own comfort. As a child
Hayden doubted his father s love, but as he grew older he realized that love is often
expressed silently and indirectly by actions and not words. In the end, Hayden finally
4. School Counselors In High School
Hello everyone,
In regards to the topic of this weeks discussion board, counselors in school are
extremely limited to the areas within the area they can work. I say this because, the
counselors must maintain an equal relationship with all students. They absolutely can
not play favorites. Although I am not in the program which specializes in school
counseling. To my knowledge and experience with one of the counselors in the high
school I attended. A counselor is a faculty member who is someone students, who
are experiencing distress in class, due to issues inside or out of the academic
institution, go to, to either calm down, get help, support, information of resources,
references, etc. A counselor in school is in a way an escape for students to talk about
the things they feel, they can t discuss with their parents or peers.
Also, to my knowledge of getting into college, a counselor also helps students figure
as well as guide them through all the steps of applying to college, job, etc. ... Show

I believe it is affective to an extent. I say to an extent because I do not believe
group therapy that last days would be affective at all. Although students go through
the routine of waking up in the morning and going to school till 2 or 3 pm. There
is a lot of things that go on in a students life inside and outside of school. So it
would be very difficult to give a student group therapy when their lives are very
unbalanced. Although I do like the idea of group counseling in a school setting to
figure out the dispute between students. I believe it would be difficult for a school
counselor to control the situation. And it would also be difficult to schedule
something like a group therapy when students are always preoccupied with something

5. Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory
The movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was made in 1971 and is based
off Roald Dahl s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It tells the story of a
young boy named Charlie Bucket who is one of five children who wins a golden
ticket to a tour of Willy Wonka s mysterious chocolate factory. The movie shows
many themes of good versus evil, giving in to temptations and redemption which are
also themes shown throughout the Bible.
The first biblical worldview that Willy Wonkaand the Chocolate Factory explores is
good versus evil. In the movie there are two characters that can easily identifiable as
good and evil. Willy Wonka represents good as he often brings happiness and joy to
his surroundings and is the one who gives out the golden ... Show more content on

This is done through the character of Charlie Bucket. Charlie is the protagonist in the
story, but he is not perfect as, like the other children, he also gives into temptation.
This happens when Charlie and his Grandpa decide to try a drink that will make
you fly, although by doing this they nearly get killed, they eventually return safely
back to the group, believing that no one had found out about what they did. This
has many connections to the story of Adam and Eve, who eat a forbidden fruit but
believe that God will not be able to catch them. However, God knew what they had
done and in result they were banished from the Garden of Eden. Charlie, like Adam
and Eve, also pays the consequences of this actions when Wonka denies him the
prize of a lifetime supply of chocolate. Unlike the story of Adam and Eve however,
when Charlie shows remorse for his actions Wonka reveals to him that he was only
testing him and declares that he wants Charlie to take over the factory. This relates
to the bible in John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness . This idea also touches on the
biblical worldview that no human is perfect and it is impossible for someone not to
sin, however it is to ask for forgiveness which is most

Australian Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie once said: War doesn t make boys
men, it makes men dead. Gillespie s words relate directly to the environment
created in the novel Catch 22 by Joseph Heller; He depicts a WWII army base on
the island of Pianosa containing self interested soldiers, each with their own
abnormalities. To be sent home, these soldiers have to complete a certain amount of
missions, however, once the soldiers get near the total number required, the higher
ranked officials raise the number of required missions, making the possibility of
being released inconceivable. As a result, due to the corruption of high ranked
officials, Heller argues that literal as well as figurative death is inevitable as the war is

reveals how he has lost his mind as a result of the high ranked officials lack of care

from his loss, Milo has more interest in selling his cotton, showing how self

news that Scheisskopf took over his position, he is
7. Child Soldiers Amnesty
Should Child Soldiers be Granted Amnesty or Should they be Prosecuted? Although
not everyone knows it, there is a huge tragedy that is, and has been, going on even at
this exact moment. That tragedy is children being taken out of their ordinary lives,
whether by force or not, away from their families and into battle. Despite how much
these children went through in the wars, the question still remains: once the waris
over, should they be granted amnesty, or be prosecuted? The answer to this comes
from thorough research. Childsoldiers should be granted amnesty because they are
unaware of what they are doing, they need help rather than prosecution, and many are
forced to fight.
The first reason why child soldiers should be legally forgiven ... Show more content

The side that argues prosecuting the child soldiers says kids were given the option
to stay or leave, and most chose to stay. That is only partly true. It is true that they
are given the option. Yet, the children indirectly forced to stay. Because they have
become addicted to the drugs the warlords gave them, they are now dependent on
them for those drugs and simply cannot leave, as it reads on debatewise.org. Also,
Ishmael Beah points out that through the war, they have gained a connection to
their commanders and fellow soldiers. For some, including Ishmael, it is the only
family they have left. So, they may, indeed, choose to stay, but not for the reason
the many believe. Instead of staying for the fighting, the stay for of family. Those
who argue that child soldiers should be considered the perpetrators also say that if
we grant amnesty to the soldiers, there would be no justice for the victims they
killed. This is completely agreeable and understandable. It is agreeable that there
should be punishment given in order to fulfill justice for the victims. However, in
order for justice to be fully satisfied, the children should not be the ones punished,
but rather, the warlords who wish to come to the US from their country of origin.
The warlords drug the child soldiers and kill those who do not follow orders. They
also force some to join. If child soldiers were

Psychodynamic/Psychoanalysis considers what we do by motives that we as humans
do without knowing. There are many treatments that can be done to help to get to
know what goes on inside someone s mind. Two examples of are Dream Analysis and
the Rorschach Inkblot Test. These two methods of treatment both involve getting to
know the person better. Dreaming is said to be something that is very important to us
as a human. Freud believe that dreams help us get into the unconscious material.

He thought it would tell about a person s personality or any mental disorders they
may have. The inkblot test is a result of his love for art and the study of psychology.
In this test the patient is given ten images that have no meaning. He would then
show those inkblots to the patient. The patient then would say whatever they felt it
looked like. A basic permeance of the Rorschach test is: seeing is an act not just of
the eye, but of the mind...of the whole person. (theguardian.com, Damion Searls,21
February 2017) Two persons looking at the same image and two doctors
interpreting the results could each have different conclusions. For example,
according to Br.Colton if someone saw something like a bunny then that person
would be considered healthier than a person who saw a skull.(Slide 18) From the
beginning experts did not agree on the inkblot test and how to interpret the patients
responses. It was not thought to be very reliable because of this. Since Rorschach
died shortly after releasing the test many others have developed different ways to
interpret the results and score the test. This has proven to be a problem because of a
lack of one set of rules for everyone to follow. In more recent times, the inkblot test
has been used for employment, in court cases and even Alzheimer s
9. organized religion Essay
Organized Religion
Ever since man has chosen to write down his history, organized religion has been a
prominent topic and has influenced and shaped all people s lives. There have always
been believers and non believers. Since the beginning, non believers have been
persecuted by inquisitions, prosecuted by witch trials, and murdered by stoning and
crucifying for even questioning the truth about a supreme being and supposed crimes
against that being. Religion had a purpose in earlier times to explain life, but today
science provides more concrete answers. Religious beliefs are old and outdated and

They trust their faith because The Bible Tells Me So. The books of each religion
explain why everything is the way it is and each religion teaches at very young
ages, so how could it be wrong? It has always been so it must be the truth. When I
was younger I would come home from school complaining to my mom about
science class. Why don t they leave everything alone and just say it is that way
because God made it that way? The grass is green because God wanted it to be.
Recently, education appeared as the truth. Perhaps people in the science field and I
wanted facts, proof for the truth. Charles Darwin had come up with the idea of
natural selection and the theory of evolution in the 1800 s. The questions and
answers offered by science are more plausible. Scientists struggle with these
questions every modern day. Open minded people question and look for answers.
Science suggests that religious ideas are incorrect.
Today s religions have aided both personal and international peace. It has given
hope to people and has helped some deal with difficult situations. Religions give
some people purpose to life, and an explanation as to why things are the way they
are. Praying can give some peace of mind to those who are dealing with problems in
life.
Throughout history people have taken their religious beliefs too serious. Religions
are hypocritical in their values,

Murray insists that the core knowledge approach need not stop with eighth grade...

a good rate of return. Owen and Sawhill prove this by showing statistics stating that
the return to every additional year of school is an increase in ten percent of

high school education. College is very beneficial to a person s future. It can improve
health even by extending the length of
12. The Importance Of The 4th Amendment
Is the 4th amendment still valuable in modern society since the 4th amendment can
no longer be directly applied with the rise of new technology? The fourth Amendment
is, The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,
against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants
shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and
particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
(Fourth Amendment). This amendment originally was created to protect houses
from being raided uncontrollably in the mid 17th century. Obviously in the 17th
century technology such as the internet did not exist yet, so important documents and
information were on paper. Therefore all the significant documents were stored in a
house, or building making it easy to secure them. Similarly because of the 4th
Amendment their house couldn t be searched without a warrant so all of their
important documents would be safe. Fast forward 300 years many things have
changed and society is still using an outdated document to judge modern society
which calls for an evolved amendment. For example, the 4th Amendment is no longer
directly viable since the internet and phones weren t created during the time period
the Bill of Rights was made. Ultimately the 4th Amendment is extremely valuable
because it provides us the protection against unreasonable searches and seizures,
which can be inferred

competing for. Whether it is for the championship title or to place overall top ten. All
other competition gets done by the end of the second day and for that to happen
means a profusion of matches. The first match of the day was against a very
skillful Alabama team, we won respectfully and geared up for our next match.
Giving it all I had was not enough nor was the whole team s full effort enough to

circumstances and degrees either small imperceptible one, such as the color of the

consequences (want or not). Albert Camus uses characterization to address the
importance of choices. The author uses the character of Balducci to show what
happens when people follow the rules without hesitation. For example, when
Balducci arrives into the school to leave the Arab with Daru, and Daru shows
himself discontent with that unforeseen problem, he says, Those are the orders
(Camus). Balducci as a man of law must follow whatever thing is said to him, and
he will do it for sure without dubiety; in addition, Balducci remarks, [Y]ou must

that his work dictates, and he can t avoid doing this because he will break all the
goodness that justice represents. Nevertheless, Camus tries to point out if a person

18. Romanticism And Puritism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...
In The Scarlet Letter three main values that all played a part in the beginning of
America; Romanticism, Rationalism, and Puritism. Throughout The Scarlet Letter
all three of these influences play a part in the story. They collide, argue, and cause
many problems. Which one of these is the most dominant in this book, Puritism.
Puritism controls people s lives and no matter how they try, they cannot escape it.
Puritism is always constant in this book. Hester is put on the scaffold because she
commits adultery, which is against a puritan law. Mr. Dimmesdale refuses to admit
his sin because he doesn t want to die because of puritan law. However, the puritan
lifestyle is so ingrained into Dimmesdale s guilt eats him from the inside out. Even
the town people believe in puritanism they are baffled that Hester broke one of the
biggest puritan laws and commit adultery. Everyone that lives in Boston at this time

He thinks the most like a rationalist, because of his choice in career. As a doctor, he
knows that people are not just healed by praying, they need have to have medicine
to stay healthy. He heals many people with surgeries, modern medicine and
medicine from the Native Americans. Robert Chillingworth also makes it very clear
that he doesn t really care about making it to Heaven, he just wants his revenge. It is
made clear that Puritism is the most predominant quality in this book. Everything
ties to it in some way. Pearl is the most romantic, but even she knows that she didn t
come from a rose bush. Robert Chillingworth is the most rational, and even though
he might not care if he goes to Hell, he still believes that Hell does exist and that the
puritan values and laws are right. Boston needed puritanism to stay alive. It was the

19. The Effects Of Companion Animals On College Campuses
A giant fluffy dog walks past you as you cross the street on your college campus. You
cannot help but notice him smiling up at you with his tongue half hanging out.
Although you feel today has been the worst day, you cannot help but feel compelled
to respond back with a big grin since he looks so happy. According to Wells (2009), it
is only recently, however, that any scientific attention has been devoted to the
relationship between companion animal and physical well being in humans. With
new information, owning a companion animal has become increasingly more popular
for college studentto have on their campuses. College campuses can be a hard time
for many, and can drive students to be continually stressed, or to fall into depression.

In order to conclude her results she looked at the attachment style. For Wells (2009)
she concluded, a direct causal association between human well being and companion
animals is still not conclusive, the literature reviewed above is largely supportive of
the widely held belief that pets are good for us. Although she found no supportive
link between the two variables, she did still see that somehow and someway animals
can improve people s lives. College students can fall under the disease category of this
study since many students suffer from these conditions when times become stressful.
Friedman and Son (2009) also studied the association of companion animals and
human health benefits. An important question is whether pet ownership causes better
health or better health encourages pet ownership (Friedman and Son, 2009). After
researching this question, they found that pet owners had lower levels of
cardiovascular risk factors such as serum triglyceride and blood pressure than non
owners (Friedman and Son, 2009). They even looked at a longitudinal study that pet
ownership was associated with increased 1 year survival rates in patients
hospitalized for coronary heart disease (Friedman and Son, 2009). Their results
provided a basis that the association between both variables does exist, but still needs
20. Essay on Gender and Music Preference
Gender and Music Preference There are so many different forms and genres of
music that people admire. Even older genres that have seemed to die out still have
fans such as disco or polka. Many researchers discuss why people favor the music
that they do. This has been a popular topic in music research considering how
important music has become in everyday life. Music is played in the car, on the
internet, on cellphones, and even behind commercials on television. It is hard to
imagine a world without it. Now there are many reasons discussed about why
people prefer one kind of music over another, such as one s age. One s age could
determine what music was popular when they were a kid, or what genres they have
been around to experience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music genres can be split into categories for what genders are dominating the
majority of their listeners. Heavier music such as rap and rock seem to appeal more
to a young male because of the reoccurring themes of aggression and independence.
Whereas lighter music normally involves themes of emotion and love which a girl
can better relate too. As mentioned above, I believe age, ethnicity, culture, and
genetics all play a role in musical preference, but gender should not be left out. While
some believe that music preference all belongs to the individual and not about fitting
into the generic stereotypes. I disagree and believe that gender does take part in the
music selection one makes.
Literature Review Kelly D. Schwartz and Gregory T. Fouts created a study set out
to examine the personality characteristics and developmental issues of three
different groups of adolescent music listeners. The first group analyzed was
adolescent listeners who preferred light qualities of music. The second group was
those who preferred heavy kinds of music, and the last were for those who preferred
a wide range of music. One hundred and sixty four adolescents participated in the
study. The results of this research showed that each of the three music preference
groups was tended to demonstrate a unique profile of personality and developmental
issues (2001), Susan A. O Neill has researched numerous issues related to
21. The Marriage Ceremony Of India Essay
Just imagine the person you will spend the rest of your life with waiting for you at
the altar. Once you wed, life together begins. The phrase, Welcome to the rest of
your life , is often heard when a couple becomes engaged. Marriage is defined as the
union between two individuals that make a permanent and exclusive commitment to
each other (Kavya, CN and Pavan Kumar 531). Essentially, when to people get
married their hearts and mind unify as well. Historically, marriagewas a union with no
ceremony. The Bible mentions several couples being married but does not mention
any ceremony. The actual union is more important than having an enormous
celebration. However, as time went on, many cultures formed traditions that are part
of the marriage ceremony. India is one of the most populated countries in the world
and one of the oldest. Indian marriage celebrates Dharma. Dharma is essential
guidelines in order to live a fulfilling life and afterlife. The Southern Hindu wedding
lay emphasis on three essential values: happiness, harmony, and growth (Knott 10).
Each step of the marriage process outlines each value.
DATING, MATCH MAKING, AND LOVE COURTSHIP In Hinduism marriage is
considered the most sacred commitment. This is a commitment of the souls and
minds, not just physical bodies. Many Hindus enlist the help of someone called a
match maker. The match maker observes and examines all single individuals in the
village. Typically, the family sits down with the match maker and

I chose to critique a movie called Rear Window, a realist film by Alfred Hitchcock

Hitchcock, the director points it out to the audience as he concentrates on Jeff
focusing on what s happening inside his neighborhood. Allowing the audience to stay
focused, as we become voyeurs watching the various dramas unfolding. Moreover,
Alfred Hitchcock has unlimited technical brilliance with a boundless ability to
portray a story in a very distinctive manner. Using the techniques of dramatic
variation of size to achieve other desired emotions from the audience, by cutting
from long shots to extreme close ups. The story line in the film revolves around
voyeurism, guilt, friendship, and sexuality. Moreover, the editing techniques in the
film raise attention to the events that unfold in front of us. The shots in the movie
are edited in a relatively subjective style. According to Hitchcock Editing shouldn t
be in terms of cutting but rather in terms of assembly or Mosaic (Hitchcok, 1963,
p.4). Therefor, Montage is the process or technique of selecting and piecing together
separate sections of film to form a continuous sequence. When two shots juxtapose in
such a way it gives the third shot another meaning. This is one classic examples of
Alfred Hitchcock s way of thinking. The voyeurism practiced in the film makes the
audience conscious of why the protagonist is behaving in a certain

24. The Argument Against The Existence Of God
HJ McCloskey in 1968 wrote a paper that tried to argue against different Christian
philosophy theories. He tried to argue against the existence of God, specifically in the
Cosmological Argument and Teleological arguments. He also tries to use the
existence of evil as an argument against the existence a God. His arguments ultimately
show a lack of understanding. A lack of understanding of these basic christian
arguments and basic Christian theology. The issue at the very beginning of this
article is that of differing definitions. McCloskey comes out with talking about
Christians not having proofs, and how he will refute them. He is continually using
this language throughout the article. The problem is that a Christian would not
define the arguments as proofs. A proof, when defined, has the idea that you are
100 percent certain that you are right about your thesis. It is really more of a
scientific or mathematical term. The Christian would argue that you can never
completely know if God is real. There is an element of faith involved. Instead of
saying we are going to use proofs to prove God, it is probably more accurate to
believe to use the word argument. Instead of proofs, a Christian is coming up with
the best possible answers to the questions of the universe. On one hand this may upset
the atheist. The atheist may wonder why you would believe in something that you
cannot one hundred percent prove. This is faulty thinking, in that there many things
that we do not

In the story Sarah has a huge burden. She keeps the death of her brother a secret to
protect the childlike innocence of her children. But her attempt on hiding it is in
vain, because Coco and Mark already know about Uncle Terry. But it s not just to
protect her children it s also about protecting herself because the death of Terry still

Peter died. I can conclude from this story that the only way to get over the loss of a

types of fast food restaurants like on premises restaurants; drive thrus; take out;

Pangloss, just like Candide is an unrealistic character. He too, is somewhat hopeful

his none sense optimism. As Candide continues to come in contact with all these
misfortunes, it shows that Candide was a faithful young man, and indeed was a
true believer in Pangloss theory that all was well in their world. Pangloss also
taught Candide that things cannot be otherwise than they are, since everything is
made to serve an end (521). Pangloss philosophy is stating that everything has a
purpose and everything that happens, happens for a reason. No matter how bad
things might be going, it is for a good cause and can only be as bad if one believes it
to be. Cacambo is also one of Candide s companions on his journey. He also acts as
an advisor and a guide for Candide and helps him develop some knowledge
towards the ways of the world. Unlike any other character in the novel, Cacambo is
honest and highly intelligent. Cacambo shows confidence through his intelligence
and moral unrighteousness. He is a good man, as well as kind and generous.
Cacambo pushes Candide to view the world as it really is, instead of following
Pangloss philosophy of the best of all possible worlds. He wants Candide to
understand that bad things happen in the world and that everything is not good.
During the journey, Cacambo is always able to

The foundation subjects in the national curriculum comprise of history, geography,
modern foreign languages, physical education (PE), religious education, art and
design, citizenship, computing, design and technology and music (DFE 2013, p7).
All the foundation subjects have a place on the National Curriculum; however, for
the purposes of this essay we will be focussing on the reasons for PE being an
important part of the National Curriculum.
The National Curriculum (DFE 2013, p5) states that every state funded school must
offer a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which promotes the
spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school
and of society and, prepares pupils at the school for opportunities, responsibilities
and experiences of later life .
It aims to give children the knowledge that that they need to be educated citizens and
gives an outline of the core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting
and creative lessons to promote pupils knowledge, understanding and skills as part of
the wider school curriculum (DFE 2013, p6).
The key aims of PE on the national curriculum focusses on a healthy lifestyle
developing competence across several physical activity areas and for children to be
active for sustained periods of time and encouraging children to engage in competitive
activities and sports (Smith 2014. P213).
At Key Stage 1 the national curriculum states that pupils should develop fundamental

Theory of Development In analyzing Riley Andersen through the psychosocial
theory of development, it is important to understand what is going on in her life
throughout the events of the film. The psychosocial theory addresses growth
across the life span, identifying and differentiating central issues from infancy to
elderhood (Newman Newman, 2014, p. 62). In the beginning of the film, Riley is
11 years old and is in the Middle Childhood life stage (6 12 years old). The
developmental tasks during this stage include friendship, concrete operations, skill
learning, self evaluation, and team play (Newman Newman, 2014). As seen in the

associated with Middle Childhood. When Riley moves to San Francisco, she is
forced to restart these developmental tasks with a brand new group of peers.

35. What Is The Meaning Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Flannery O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard To Find begins with a Southern Family
as they embark on what seems to be simple a trip from Georgia to Florida. During
the trip, the family encounters Red Sammy Butts, the owner of The Tower
restaurant. Red Sammy tells a story of two men who came into the store and he let
them charge the gas they bought (O Connor, 1344). After Red Sammy questioned his
own decision to do this, the grandmother, who accompanied the family on the trip,
proclaimed that he did it Because you are a good man! (O Connor, 1344). This is the
first time, of many, that the word good is alluded to in the short story. This single
word (good) in the quote from the grandmother not only foreshadows, but also
provides the structure for the rest of the story ahead. The grandmother first uses the
word good to describe a man (Red Sammy), which she has just met. It is obviously
apparent that she does not truly know Red Sammy, but is using the word to describe
him nonetheless. The grandmother uses this word as a conversation piece, instead of
using the word to represent its true meaning. The Oxford English Dictionary states
that the word good can be used as an adjective meaning of commendation, implying
the existence in a high, or at least satisfactory, degree of characteristic qualities which
are either admirable in themselves or useful for some purpose. It is almost impossible
for the grandmother to know that Red has the characteristics, which the definition

37. Ecological Anthropology And Cultural Ecologist
Ecological Anthropology is the study of how humans cope with problems in their
environment such as survival, reproduction, development, longevity or spatial
positions of people (Moran, 2008). Ecological Anthropologist and Cultural Ecologist
do not ascribe to environmental determinism instead they view the relationship
between humans and the environment as more possibilistic, explaining that the
process may result in alternative behaviors (Reitz and Wing, 2008; 14). The Historical
Ecological perspective provides a temporal structural and functional framework to a
changing landscape by analyzing how humans alter the environment and how in turn
a changing environment alters humanactivity (Reitz and Wing, 2008; Crumley, 1994).
Faunal analysis takes a prominent role in these ecological frameworks and therefore
in Zooarchaeology.
Post Processual (Archaeology) During the 1970s and 1980s the processual
archaeologist rediscovered the concept of culture as a source of cross cultural
idiosyncratic variation in human beliefs and behaviors (Trigger, 2006; 444) that
emphasized context, ideology, and symbolism in what is now known as post
processual archaeology (Gibbs, 2000; 67). This influence did not have an immediate
effect on Zooarchaeology; however, in the past 10 years an increasing demand for
an integrated approach has resulted in what is now being called Social
Zooarchaeology.

38. The Results of Student Censorship
The students of this country are expected to follow the rules and regulations that
their schools impose, and whether or not they are fair is constantly challenged. In a
perfect world, everyone would be content under the same guidelines, regardless of
how restrictive they may be. However, this is not a perfect world and finding a
universal agreement among everyone is virtually impossible. Throughout history,
those who have disagreed with actions made by authoritative figures have found a
way to protestsaid actions. From the Cambodian protests in Kent State to the
Tiananmen Square protests, students have been very vocal about what they are
against and refuse to be censored by their schools or their government. Attempting to
do so, however, could lead to retribution from authorities. Censoring students and
their voices affects the students by almost trying to instill fear and demoting contest
from them can result in various scenarios, both good and bad. Violence is never the
answer, but there have been more than a few occasions where violence was the
chosen path from a group trying to suppress students. One of the most infamous cases
of violence against protesting students is the Kent State Massacre. On May 4, 1970
students of Ohio s Kent State Universityhad a demonstration against then President
Ronald Reagan s decision to invade Cambodia during the Vietnam War. In an attempt
to shut this demonstration down, The Ohio National Guard was called in. What
followed is
39. Hotel Choice Decision Is A Holistic Concept
In addition to tangible and intangible attributes, previous studies also suggest that
hotel choice decision is a holistic concept that may go beyond the simple combination
of these attributes. Utilizing the concept of brand personality, it was suggested that
customers may link their perceived hotel attributes associated with the brand and
develop a sense of loyalty and preference when making their hotelchoice decision
(e.g., Lee Back, 2010; Li et al., 2014).
Brand personality is defined as the set of human characteristics associated with a
brand (Aaker, 1997, p. 347), and it can serve as a set of traits inferences used by
consumers to trigger a specific pattern of attitudinal and behavior responses
(Fournier, 1998). In her work, Aaker (1997) creates a scale to measure brand
personality and extracted five dimensions, including sincerity, excitement,
competence, sophistication, and ruggedness, and received empirical support from
succeeding studies (i.e. Aaker, Benet Martinez, Garolera; 2001; Ekinci Hosany, 2006;
Lee Back, 2010). In general, theses studies found that customers do perceive brands
differently, and such differentiation enables customers to have a reference to make
comparisons more easily. It also enables brands to create their own niche and
identities to gain competitive advantages, such as emotional attachment to the brand
that result in trust and loyalty (i.e. Fournier, 1998; Lee Back, 2010). It was also
suggested that trust and loyalty will
40. Positive And Negative Effects Of Study Habits
Study habits itself affects the Academic performance of students taking up BS
Accountancy measured by their General points average (GPA). According to Nonis
Hudson (2010), Study Habits can have either positive or negative effects with
academic performance because of its direct relationship with it. There is a positive
effectof study habits if one s General Percentage Average (GPA) were good or high
on the other hand, if their grades are below average there is a negative impact on it.
Positive or negative effect is based on grades because it represents the academic
performance of each student. Every student wants to aim for a high grades, and in
order to achieve it students should know how to be effective. According to the study
entitled 10 habits of highly effective students , to become an... Show more content on

The vast majority of successful students nowadays get to the top because they
developed and applied good studying habits. According to Broni and Hogrey (2010)
as cited in the study entitled The Effect of Study Habits on the Academic
Performance of English for Academic Writing stated that having a good study habits
could help every students to improve their academic performance. In addition, many
researchers had conducted a study and concluded that study habits and academic
performance move in the same direction. It only means that when a student performs
well, their academic performance will appreciably be improved. Moreover,
According to Reed (n.d), good and effective study habits that are practiced regularly
by highly effective students includes taking down notes during discussions, and it
was very essential in studying because through the notes taken it is easier to study
and remember facts that are important in the previous lesson. According to the study
entitled Good study Habits , Reading textbooks or material, performing advance

41. Role Of Prostitution In Ancient Rome
Prostitution is the practice of selling one s body or sexual favors in return for money.
This is often regarded as the oldest profession of the world with evidence dating back
to Ancient Babylon and Sumer. With each succeeding major civilization, prostitution
became more developed, refined, and subjected to regulation; Ancient Romebeing no
exception. Prostitutionis often an undiscussed section of society when discussing past
cultures. It is that very reason I chose to write on this subject as practiced in Rome. In
Ancient Rome, a society of morality and pride, it is ironic that what is typically seen
as a degrading practice, was practiced, widely tolerated, and regulated by the state.
Prostitution, while not an integral part of Roman society, helps offer insight into not
only the Roman economy, but also entertainment and private life. Through research
and explanation I intend to elaborate on the organization of prostitution, legal
recognition given to prostitutes, what Roman brothels were like, sex slaveryin a
Roman context, and the connection between prostitution and religion.... Show more

Both genders served as prostitutes in Ancient Rome, but the majority of evidence
suggests that female prostitutes to male clients was more common. The
prostitutes worked either on their own using rented rooms for their practice, for a
madame, or lena, or work out of brothels for a pimp, leno. The working
arrangements of the prostitutes, as suggested by Dillon and Garland, were often
created, at least by free women, out of desperateness due to financial need. The
women who worked for a lena or independently because of this desperation are
stipulated by McGinn to have been considered women of higher repute, than those
who were born into sex slavery or forced into it. Those who worked out of a brothel
or where pimped by a leno are considered to have been slaves or former
42. Safe Childbirth
Childbirth is oftentimes described as the miracle of life . It is typically a time of
immense pride and joy; many claim the birth of their offspring was the best day of
their lives. Unfortunately, however, this exuberant experience is not a memory to
be fond of for hundreds of thousands of women in developing countries. Liberia is a
prime example of how grim the reality truly is. According to Yulia Widiati from
Unicef, Liberias maternal mortality ratio is one of the highest in the world, with
1,072 maternal deaths for every 100,000 births (ADD CITATION). This doesn t even
include the hundreds of infantdeaths that take place every year as well, just the
mothers. These numbers are excessively high when considering how far modern
medicine and science has come.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The root of the problem lies in paucity of education and supplies. Young girls need
to be educated on safe sex practices, and women need to be sufficiently
knowledgeable on how to properly deliver and care for a baby. This means before,
after, and during the birth. In addition to this, it s almost impossible to create a safe
childbearing environment without specific medical supplies and equipment.
Thankfully, with new leadership in the country the numbers are gradually beginning
to decline. Be that as it may, the path to correct this issue is still long and rocky; they
need our help. In order to further mitigate the high numbers of maternal and infant
deaths in developing countries, we need to donate not only supplies, but our time as
well. We need to send volunteers with donations and plans to educate women and
young girls on pregnancy, delivery, and safe
43. Comparing Newman And Newman In The Ideal American
In The American, Newman is obviously an american and an outsider in this new
culture and environment that he divulges himself in. Like most americans,
Newman is obsessed with this idea of the French culture where we believe that
they have the best food, fashion, artwork, and style. Newman is clearly obsessed
with this idea about the French and therefore moves to Paris in order to get the
culture that he so desperately needs. However, Newman does not instantly fit into
the French culture like he predicts because he fails to learn about the certain
customs and traditions that are ideal in the French society, especially to people
like the Bellegardes he is painstakingly an American. Newman may be able to talk
french and act like a frenchman, but Newman fails to realize that in this restrictive
society he will always be considered an outsider or a foreigner. In addition, he will
never be truly considered to be french by people like the Bellegardes who believe
that they are in all ways superior to Newman, because underneath it all, Newman will

Newman being the character who is the ideal American and the Bellegardes who
represent the ideal French family. Newman who is an ideal American, is sensitive,
moral, and perceptive. Also, unlike the Bellegardes Newman is not morally corrupt
and is unable to execute his plan to take revenge because he is too good natured.
Newman also represents this concept of the American being hard working and a
person of action. Newman has worked in order to acquire his wealth, while the
Bellegardes are a family who have inherited their wealth, rather than take action to
make money. In total, Newman possesses something that the Bellegardes do not: a
strong morality. He is always honest and sincere, and he exceeds both mentally and
physically. In every sense of the word, Newman represents an ideal American and
what every American strives to
44. An Analysis Of And Then There Were None By Agatha
Christie
The world keeps developing at a high speed, with the evolvement of our civilization.
Those who contributed to the wealth and peace of the present world are frequently
regarded as generals, emperors or other heroic figures that defeated the evil and
helped with the growth of economy. But what we cannot neglect is the power of
knowledge and its impact on emancipating our thoughts, which indeed has promoted
the process of human gaining wealth and peace. In this case, I found out that to me,
through this course, the definition of the giant should not be restricted in those who
have made political devotions, instead the giant can be someone who bring people

The first one is the island mode , which later contributed a lot to Japanese detective
storywriters. This mode has a very well known representative, the novel And then
there were none , originally named Ten little Indians , Christie creates ten different
main characters of different social status, who are lured into coming to an island
under different pretexts, e.g. offers of employment or to enjoy a late summer
holiday, or to meet old friends. All have been complicit in the death(s) of other
human beings but either escaped justice or committed an act that was not subject
to legal sanction. Besides, their ways of death are strictly followed by verses of
the old folk Ten little Indians . Finally, all characters died on that isolated island.
This novel is the founder of the island mode , which means a group of people who
have no or little relationship between each other gathered in a specific place, but
because of some weather changes they are isolated from the outside world. During
this period, murders take place in this place, while at the same time the murderer
hides himself/herself inside the innocent. Therefore, this kind of detective stories
usually gives people a sense of nerves by creating an atmosphere of horror. The
second mode is that the murderer sometimes has an accomplice to help the murderer
commit a crime or get rid of his/her guilt. The best representative of this kind of
novels, among all Agatha Christie s works, should be the Murder on the orient express
. In the Murder on the orient express , a Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who had
gained considerable repute, got on the orient express , but after the first peaceful
night, an American passenger was killed in his compartment. After Poirot questioning
the other passengers about the suspicious facts he found on the train, he succeeded in
solving this difficult crime, which turned out

mismatch regarding labour and economic policy
Economic growth is shaped by policy context and promoted most effectively when it
is consistent with either liberal market or co ordinated market ideal type varieties of
Capitalism. Policy inconsistency dampers economic growth post apartheid South
Africa attempted to adopt a social democratic and co ordinated variety of Capitalism.
This failed due to the adoption of macro economic neo liberal policies. Organised

A social democratic or coordinated variety of capitalism seemed like South Africa s
destiny. CME type coordinated wage setting seemed realistic and major effort was put
into developing regional and national level social democratic institutions. Organised
business and labour agreed to discuss the impact of labour relations on the economy.
National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC)
According to the leading business representative Nedlac was intended to inaugurate
a new era of inclusive consensus seeking and ultimately decision making in the
economic and social arenas (Parsons 2007, 9). Nedlac failed. The first obstacle was
the fact that peak level business organisation was racially divided which made
national coordination impossible. BSA turned into BUSA and from it emerged BBC.
The second blunder came from government when they only referred some economic
policies to Nedlac. The post apartheid Labour relations act was negotiated in Nedlac
before it went to parliament; sadly they neglected to send the 1996 Growth
Employment and Redistribution (GEAR) macro economic framework through
Nedlac. Even though it would curb government spending, enhance private investment
and liberalise aspects of the labour laws to promote job creation, it was still met with
great public condemnation
46. What Is Hadoop Data Analysis Technologies
METHODOLOGY Since KISAN CALL CENTER is getting created in a very huge
amount and with an equally great speed, there is a huge demand to store, process
and carefully study this large amount of data to make it usable. Hadoop is definitely
the preferred framework to analyze the data of this magnitude.
4.1 Hadoop Data Analysis Technologies
While Hadoop provides the ability to collect data on HDFS (Hadoop Distributed
File System), there are many applications available in the market (like MapReduce,
Pig and Hive) that can be used to analyze the data.
Let us first take a closer look at all three applications and then analyze which
application is better suited for KISAN CALL CENTER DATA project.

MapReduce is a set of Java ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reducer instance is created for each reduced task to create an output format. The
output format governs the way objects are written, the output format provided by
Hadoop writes the files to HDFS.
4.1.2 Hive
Hive provides the ability to store large amounts of data in HDFS. Hive was designed
to appeal to a community comfortable with SQL. Hive uses an SQL like language
known as HIVEQL. Its philosophy is that we don t need yet another scripting
language. Hive supports maps and reduced transform scripts in the language of the
user s choice which can be embedded with SQL. Hive is widely used in Facebook,
with analyst comfortable with SQL as well as data miners programming in Python.
Supporting SQL syntax also means that it is possible to integrate with existing
tools like. Hive has an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity JDBC (Java Database
Connectivity) driver that allows and facilitates easy queries. It also adds support
for indexes which allows support for queries common in such environment. Hive is
a framework for performing analytical queries. Currently Hive can be used to query
data stored in HBase which is a key value store like those found in the gods of most
RDBMS s (Relational database management system) and the Hadoop database project
uses Hive query RDBMS tier.
4.1.3 Pig
Pig comes from the language Pig Latin. Pig Latin is a procedural programming
language and fits very naturally in the pipeline paradigm.
47. Analysis Of Aphra Behn s Oroonoko
Aphra Behn, since the start of story Oroonoko takes on an apologetic tone in her
narration of the story. She starts of by apologizing (examples) as to the form of
her writing and why she writes some parts of the story while omitting others. It is
not fully understood whether when Behn refers to being a female pen she does so
in a sarcastic way or with a deeper meaning, giving a double sense to her story. That
although she writes about a male character, she decides to write and exalt those parts
of his life that were influenced by a woman, making them as something as a very
meaningful part of his story that influenced his actions, exalting the role of a woman
in this great man s life.
First of all speaking of the characterization of women in her story, we see that
women are treated merely as objects and do not have the power to make decisions
for themselves, they are mostly always under the strict rule of a man. Starting off
with the character of Imoinda, we see that she only has a considerable power
because of her beauty. It is because of her beauty and her shy manner that Oroonoko
finds her so attractive, and therefore decides to marry her and have her as his only
wife for the rest of his life. After getting married, Imoinda is called by the King of
Kalimenes to join his multitude of wives. The only reason that Imoinda can proclaim
to let her be slightly safe from the king is to tell him that she is married; meaning that
only by being under the protection of marriage to

Balram admits on page 167 that finds himself become corrupted as he loses respect
for his master; changes the way Ashok dresses, values his girlfriend s word over
Balram, and becomes grossly fat disgust Balram. The driver justifies his actions of
siphoning gas, selling Ashok s whiskey bottles, and running a secret taxi business
with the Honda Civic by citing the corruption of his master. With the money
garnered from these less than ideal methods, Balram treats himself to a session
with a blonde lady of the night. The meeting Balram recounts on the sixth night
originates from his attempt to assimilate master after witnessing Ashok interacting
with a beautiful Ukrainian student. In the process of the business exchange,
Balram admits that he is his own master and that he is entitled to such pleasures.
Despite the woman Balram meets is considered to be a leftover while the rich
always get the best in life, the reader sees the beginnings of Balram s next and final
progression to where he is today. Then, Balram finds it necessary to distance
himself from the inferior lifestyle of the drivers. For example, while in a shop
clearly designated for the servant class, Balam responds, how stupid can you
people get, when a nearby knife grinder sharpens his tools. (Adiga 174) Along with
abandoning the unproductive group to do yoga, Balram develops a superior
mindset when he starts to address the others with diction typical for a master
servant interaction. In fact, this is not the only phrase he adopts from Pinky
Madam; Balram uses, what an [explicit] joke, when addressing the paradox of the
enslaved servants in a democracy (Adiga 145) and the wanted poster where the
corrupt police name him a murderer. (Adiga 85) The use of this one liner conveys
disapproval of conventional teachings for the half baked, the ones that promote
cyclical suffering inside the coop for
49. Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing
someone from an illness than focusing only on the body. They believe that there
must also be a focus on the individual s spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A
doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places their focus on the physical
body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness being cured
(Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on
the philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain
medical situations. The death of Makayla Sault raised a conflict between traditional
medical practices, and western medical practices.
Western Philosophy on Medicine
When Makayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia the doctors at the
McMaster Children s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario gave her a seventy five per cent
chance of survival. The doctors in the hospital have the philosophical bias that the
technology of advanced western medical treatments are the most reliable form of
treatment. Makayla began chemotherapy, and went through eleven weeks of this
treatment before stopping it. According to an Oncologist at McMaster, There are no
known cases of survival of this type of leukemia without a full course of treatment
(Walker, C., 2015, Makayla exercised her rights , para.1). Makayla s mother believed
that the chemotherapy was destroying

In Dante s, The Divine Comedy, Virgil leads Dante through the Inferno, where
Dante undergoes changes in his compassion. I am going to argue that Dante
expresses less compassion during his journey when Virgil leads him through the
Inferno. This essay will prove how Dante shows more feelings at the beginning of
the Inferno compared to the end of the Inferno. Dante is being a coward by
thinking he is unable to make his journey: I d be too slow had I obeyed by now.

Near the end of the Inferno Dante is barely showing any emotions: I woke before
the day ahead had come, and heard my sons (my little ones were there) cry in their
sleep and call out for some food. How hard you are if, thinking what my heart
foretold, you do not feel the pain of it. Whatever will you weep for, if not that? By
now they all had woken up. The time was due when, as routine, our food was
brought, Yet each was doubt, thinking of their dream. Listening, I heard the door
below locked shut, then nailed in place against that dreadful tower, I looked in
their dear faces, spoke no word. I did not weep. Inward, I turned to stone. They
wept. And then my boy Anselmo spoke: What are you staring at? Father, what s
wrong? And so I held my tears in check and gave no answer all that day, nor all the
night that followed on, until another sun came up. (Dante, Inferno, 33: 37 54)

food. He didn t really care that his sons were hungry and he didn t understand what
people weep for besides weeping for food because they are hungry. They received

51. Why Is Music So Important
Why Is It So Important?
For a little while now I have been asking myself this question: why is this music so
important to us? It seems to be a complicated question to answer, but maybe it s not
quite as difficult as I thought.
The other night I was in my room, listening to various playlists after a particularly
rough day, when I heard the opening chords of Sugar start strumming in my ears,
and I realized something. I realized that those chords felt more like home to me than
the room I d grown up in and the bed in which I d slept for 18 years. And I think that
s why this music means so much to us. It never fails to make us feel. Make us feel

I didn t cut my teeth on Nirvana or Bad Religion. I hadn t even listened to a Black

When I was 9 years old, about the time that I really started paying attention to pop
culture or anything even remotely music related, it was 2006. An era that I ve
heard jokingly dubbed the Emo Renaissance. It was a time when you could hear
Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, Blink and Jimmy Eat World, at every turn
on the radio. I remember that the first song I ever illegally downloaded onto my
Walkman was 20 dollar nosebleed, off of Fall Out Boy s Folie ГЃ Deux in 2007. But
pretty soon, pop culture and pop music moved on, and I moved on with it. I all but
forgot about Fall Out Boy and Green Day and the like until many years later. When
I began high school, I somehow rediscovered Fall Out Boy by recommendation
from someone I followed on social media, who really could never shut up about
them. I gave them another listen, this time checking out Take This To Your Grave,
which I had previously never even heard of. I don t even think I really liked that
album at first listen (which is funny because it even says in one song, the songs you
grow to like never stick at first ) but that experience opened the floodgates for the
music that I would soon devote all of my listening
52. The Optimization And Aerodynamic Characteristic Of
Laminar...
Literature Review Introduction The title of the project is CFD Calculation and
aerodynamic characteristic of laminar flow airfoil S809 . According to this topic,
the critical aim of this project is to achieve the minimum drag on the aircraft by
considering the streamline movement over the surfaces of the aircraft body. The
aerodynamic drag is spilt into different components such as skin friction drag,
shock or compressibility drag, form drag, drag due to lift (Bushnell.D, 2003). If we
look at an airfoil profile, we need to have an understanding about airflow behaviour
along with an airfoil before study about drag reduction. Development of boundary
layer on a smooth flat plate The boundary layer has two regions such as laminar and
turbulent. Over the airfoil where the laminar separation occur to fully turbulent
which at this point is defined as transition point. In the late 1930s, the viscous drag
reduction was investigated to understand the possible significant effect on the
aircraft (Bushnell.D, 2003). We focus only on the boundary layer viscous drag on
the airfoil due to majority of the effect, it is about 45% of the total drag developed by
skin friction, and the other major compound is induced drag (about 35%). In 1950s
and 1960s, the computing technology then wasn t developed enough therefore the
drag reduction approaches had to be investigated by theoretically and from
experimental data (wind tunnel tests, flight tests, empirical semi empirical) (Claus,
2016).
