I think that McIlvenna captured a lot for having had to draw many conclusions based on her
knowledge of the subject matter, like many historians must do when there is a lack of primary
documents. The usage of maps, as on pages 16 and 96, helps with the visualization aspect. For
weaknesses, because it is an already thin book, I thought that the author spent a lot of time
repeating herself. We also get a lot of quotes from letters back and forth, but it would have been
nice for something more than that. McIlvenna also overstates the case that most of the people in
the Albemarle area were trying to set up a democratic, egalitarian world. Just because they wanted
to be free from the sheriffs, tax collectors, etc., does not mean that they were after some idealistic

unmarried women has been the subject of intense public policy and public health concern for

NYC in 2001 to establish if there is a causal effect between nonmarital birth and low birth weight.
Let us first examine the apparent effect of mother s marital status during childbearing on infants
weight by running a simple regression analysis where we use married as a dummy variable and
child s birth weight as a dependent variable. We have the following results: Birth weight (in
grams) = 3193.471 + 94.994*married The model predicts that on average, the weight of the
infant at birth to be 3193.471 grams if the mother is unmarried. Also, the model predicts the
baby to be on average 95 grams heavier if the mother is married. R squared of 0.007 or 0.7% tells
us that only 0.7% of the variations in birth weight can be explained by the variation in the marital
status of the mother; 99.3% of the birth weight variations are due to other factors. This model
does show the correlation between the mother s marital status and child s birth weight; however,

Introduction
On October 5th, I attended a field trip to Cyberport HK organized by Dr. Z and Ryan. Cyberport is
an office park in Hong Kong which comprises of a cluster of technological companies. It is wholly
owned by the Hong Kong SAR government. Its vision is to shape the future of entrepreneurial
excellence thereby establishing itself as a prominent global innovation and technology hub. Their
aim is to facilitate the local economy by nourishing technological startups by promoting association

Stanford Business School professor, David Montgomery and his co author Marvin Lieberman
first popularized the concept of First Mover Advantage in a 1988 paper. This concept became
the sole reason for out of control expenditure by start ups in order to attain a monopoly like

The Role Of Fate And Fate In Oedipus
In the current world, fate and destiny are not things to be believed in. Anyone who says so is
often deemed as a fake or a fraud, which is usually true. In stories, however, things like fate and
destiny play a large role. It is a common trope found in most novels. There are peaceful fates, but
in the case of Oedipus, it was an unruly one, in which he was set on a path to his own demise.
The story itself starts at the point in time in which all the Oracle of Delphi had told was true, but
everyone was oblivious to it. Oedipus had already killed his father and married his mother, even

No matter what the people choose to do, the fate will always come to be true one way or another.
Speaking of choice, one of the larger factors to Oedipus fate in the story is his father s initial
actions. It all started when King Laius decided to consult the Oracle at Delphi to learn if he and
his wife would ever have children. ( Oedipus , Greek Mythology) a summary of Oedipus says. To
avoid the prophecy, Laius told his servants to pierce the baby s ankles...then gave the baby to
one of their shepherds, telling him to leave the baby in the mountains to die. ( Oedipus , Greek
Mythology). He immediately tries to escape his prophecy, an example of how free will can be
confused with fate. Rather than accept it, or worry for that of his son s, he is selfish and makes
a rather harsh decision. Of course, fate takes its role and the baby does not die, but this little
detail of the story shows readers how fate takes things into its own hands, and that despite Laius
efforts, it wins. He cannot control it, and neither can Oedipus. Another detail that is learned later
in the actual play, is how King Laius came to know of the prophecy first. Thinking about this, one
can conclude that he would not have done that if he had never been told of the prophecy. It is a
paradoxical kind of situation, because without the prophecy being told out loud to a man who is a
part of it, the exact events would not have happened in that order. It is interesting

nothing in common, the justice system in Saudi Arabia might seem very unethical and cruel, where
as in the United States they are procedures that are followed in order to get a factual verdict.

Humans are known through time to have solved problems and overcome hardships. We have

You may not realize it, but you are ignorant. Ignorant to the world around you, no matter how
much you think you know. You could know everything there is to know about segregation or
apartheid in South Africa, but there is always going to be that one large piece of information that

In the early 17th century, Europeans who came to America thought that African American slaves
would be a cheaper and better alternative than the poorer European people that they paid. So, they

1. State laws provide a patient with access to his or her Health Information. Insurance companies
and pharmaceutical companies may have access to a patient s health information since this

There will always be someone else trying to sell your product for less money. Many monopolies
are enforced by government. One example would be operating a cab in New York City. You
would need a government issued medallion. The number of medallions are fixed which develops
profits for initial owners. The profits are not because of talents or resources, instead these profits

The study of game like learning systems to improve the quality of learning of students is a
fascinating field of research. In this paper, I will discuss about the various concepts relating to
constructionism framework for designing game like learning system which is based on Li, Cheng,
and Liu s (2013) article on the same. The purpose of this article is to describe the approach of the
game like learning systems and the results achieved after the implementation of this system. This
article is closely related to the game design industry as most of the educational games aim to create
a game like learning system and it is further explained in this paper.

Design
The article describes an experiment to determine efficiency of the game like learning systems,
which was conducted on first year students of an engineering school. Before the experiment the
students were taught about the basic algorithmic skills such as conditions and iterations for 1.5
month in traditional lectures. Later, the students were introduced to a game like learning system
called Train build and program it. This system was designed to teach the students the use of
