A Comprehensive List Of Red Wines Essay
This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of red wines. Instead this post will discuss the four
popular red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. Also, this isn t a post about
how to choose a red, this is a post about its history, flavors and wine
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned blue purple grape with lots of seeds in
proportion to its size(A 150). There are two main reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill
our palates and table is its ability to adapt to soil and climate and its ability to resist plant viruses and
diseases (B 38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley,
California (A 152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat which allows the vines to stay
warm while at the same time preventing the vine from truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that
makes the flavor so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A 152). In California s Napa
Valley it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients,
which creates the signature flavor (A 153). When it comes to bottling the Cabernet Sauvignon is rarely
bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either Merlot and
Cabernet Franc, or Malbec, or and Petit Verdot(A 140). But as long as 75% of the wine is Cabernet
Sauvignon the label doesn t have to list the additional wines(A 141). Then the

Comparing Synoptic Gospels In Matthew, Mark, And Luke
Synoptic Comparison Matthew, Mark, and Luke are the three books in the New Testament that have
been titled the synoptic gospels. The three gospels differ in some dramatic ways, but have many
similar stories and accounts of the life of Jesus. There have been disputes over the source and the
relationship between the three gospels, but most scholars tend to agree that the gospel of Mark was
written first, and the authors of Matthew and Luke used Mark as a source for their work. This Markan
priority helps scholars to begin to examine the differences and similarities that appear across the
synoptic gospels, and determine how and why many pericopes seem to vary and even contradict each
other at times. An example of one of the passages that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mark, Jesus time in his hometown of Nazareth abruptly ends when he decides to leave town and go
to teach in other villages. Luke, however, tells us that Jesus interactions with the Nazarenes are not yet
over. Jesus begins to tell the people how in the time of Elijah and Elisha there was a famine in the land
and many people were suffering because of it, Gentiles and Jews alike. Elijah and Elisha, however,
were sent by God not to the Jews and people of Israel, but to outsiders in other places. This was a form
of punishment for the people of Israel for the rejection of God. Jesus pointed out the passage because
he wanted to warn the Nazarenes of what might happen if they continue to reject his teachings.
Another possibility is that Luke added this section to promote his social agenda of righting the
situations of people that have been wronged and, more importantly, giving up money and possessions
to the poor, outcasts and women. Jesus talks about how God decided to send the prophets to the
outcasts in other regions rather than the Israelites, who had already received much favor from God in
the past. The Nazarenes were offended at Jesus mention of God s inclusion of Gentiles by sending aid
for them and not for the Jews, showing universalism. God blessed the people that were righteous and
worthy of his aid, and the Jews were not happy that Jesus brought up God s sending of his prophets to
Gentiles as opposed to Jews in the Old Testament. This addition by Luke explains why the Nazarenes
became so upset at what Jesus was telling them. Jesus used these examples as a way of previewing
that his mission was to reach everyone, not just Jews. The addition of these examples shows how Luke
wanted to highlight his theme of universalism and including everyone who is willing to follow. Luke s
major themes of righting social wrongs and giving up comforting possessions are also supported
through the addition of this

Positive Impact Of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries
Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries
The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New World.
His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of goods and
cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s explorations
were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which started the
exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever. His
discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe and the
New World. These exchanges changed the world we live in today and will continue to fuel centuries
of exploration and discoveries. The Columbian Exchange was the beginning of the expansion of trade
between the New World and Europe. The Columbian Exchange started the flow of goods between
continents that had not shared the same borders since Pangaea. Columbus voyage, along with the
many voyages that followed, disrupted much of the biological segregation brought about by
continental drift. (McNeil, 1). Journalist Charles Mann states in his research for his book, 1493:
Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, on the Columbian Exchange that No other person,
changed the face of the Earth as radically as Columbus did. Columbus crossing of the Atlantic, Mann
says, marked the start of a new age, not only for the Americas but also for Europe, Asia

Agricultural production entails investment of resources and farmers will have no incentive for making
investments in areas where there is little opportunity for marketing their products or if the returns
accruing from the sales of agricultural products do not reflect the opportunity cost of investment. As a
result, most farmers in areas with few marketing opportunities are engaged primarily in subsistence
agriculture, which has constrained improvement in their quality of life [3]. The problem of market
access is linked to the inability of farmers to meet market standards, low volumes of produce, wide
dispersion of producers, presence of middlemen and perceived low prices in the formal market [1 7].
Therefore, development policies in Ghana have focused on the modernization and commercialization
of the agricultural sector in addressing the major agricultural production and marketing challenges.
[8,9]. The development policy of the Food and Agricultural Sectors II (FASDEP II) is notably among
these policies. It seeks to increase both the competitiveness and integration of farmers in domestic and
international markets by producing the required volumes as well as the quality of commodities on a
timely basis. Specifically, strategies adopted by this policy to

Lewis Personality In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Lewis personality is personified in The Chronicles of Narnia, and specifically in The Voyage of the
Dawn Treader through the children. The children Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace are searching
for the seven missing lords exiled by King Caspian s odorous Uncle Miraz. Additionally, they are
searching for the far east or Aslan s country. But more pointedly Edmund and Lucy are continually
searching for Aslan. In the novels, Aslan is a huge lion that appears from time to time offering
assistance, judgement, and wisdom to the children as they journey through Narnia. The children are
constantly searching for Aslan (Christ) just as Lewis was searching for the truth of Christianity and to
come back to the father. By reading the books with a Christian ... Show more content on

Lewis was struggling with leading a life that was devoted to Christ and he presented this struggle and
eventual surrender to the Lord through his work. Lewis had to learn that God would also be with him
and pursue even when he was sinning and running from the Lord. This continual chase and presence is
mirrored through Aslan. Aslan is always with the children throughout the entirety of the novel, They
see Aslan at a distance moving across the horizon or a living image of him on the page of a book; he
answers Lucy s prayer by providing help to escape from the terrors of the Dark Island; and he talks to
Caspian, Lucy, and Edmund. He empowers, encourages, restrains, and guards the children, filling
more of a spiritual than a physical role (Schakel, Hidden Images of Christ in the Fiction of C.S.
Lewis). Dreaming up a fantasy world full of talking animals was not a last minute invention for Lewis
Walter Hooper, his editor, tells us. When asked about how he came to the idea for the series he states,
All my seven Narnia books, and my three science fiction books, began with seeing pictures in my
head. At first they were not a story, just pictures. The Lion all began with a picture of a Faun carrying
an umbrella and parcels in a snowy wood. This picture had been in my mind since I was about sixteen.
Then one day, when I was about forty, I said to myself: Let s try to make a story about it (Hooper 12).

Ancient Cultures Beliefs
Way back in the ancient cultures beliefs and faith played a major roll in their lifetime. It treasured the
art that spoke to them and made them closer to god, since writing was not indicate back then. Some
believed in only one god, some in many gods and some people believed in objects like animals, the
sun, items and even the weather. After visiting the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth and observing
some of the ancient Egyptian art collection displayed, I have decided to pick the theme of God to
inform about. After my research, I discovered new and different key points about the Egyptian beliefs
in god and how it affects us in our world today. My first object is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut,
Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut, the second object is Red Figure Cup Showing the Death of
Pentheus (exterior) and a Maenad (interior) and the last object is the Head of a Ewe.
The first object that I have picked while I was at the museum is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut,
Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut. It is said that it was created in the early 18th century between the
years 1473 1458 B.C. The instant I walked in into the Ancient Egyptian collection I couldn t take my
eye off of that sculpture, due to that being it was probably the the darkest object there. The kneeling
Statue of Senenmut was engraved from a grayish green stone, I like this object because, all the
achievement and work that Senenmut have done in his life was carved all over this object. One of my
dislikes is

The Problem Of Landfill Accident
1. Introduction:
With the rapid growth of population and economic, more and more waste is produced. Landfill is still
the main method of waste disposal. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United
States has 3091 active landfills and over 10000 old municipal landfills. It was estimated that 265
million metric tons of municipal waste was disposed in the United States in 2013 (Powell, Townsend
and Zimmerman, 2015). However landfills pose great threats to our environment and public health.
All landfills will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water. The fact that landfill
accidents such as fire, explosion and slip occasionally happen makes people show more concern with
landfills nowadays. So it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gas migration along with surface and groundwater contamination are the three dominant types of
landfill failure in the survey area. Besides, slope failure and fire occupy 8% and 3% of the total failure
respectively.
Landfill gas is a complex mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a
landfill. Approximately 46% of landfill gas is composed of methane. Most of the rest component is
carbon dioxide. Also there is trace amount of other volatile organic compounds which comprises less
than 1%. The developed pressure, concentration and temperature gradients cause the landfill gas
emissions to the atmosphere vertically and migrations to surrounding soil laterally. Gas migration is an
indicator of landfill failure because landfill gas becomes a threat to environment when emitted into
atmosphere, since both methane and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases. Also, the trace amount of
other volatile organic compounds can present serious health hazards (Nastev, 2001). Landfill gas will
also pollute land when migrates to surrounding soil.
Surface water contamination Groundwater contamination of landfill because of leachate leakage.
Leachate is aqueous effluent produced as a consequence of rainwater percolation through landfilled
waste, biochemical processes within landfill and the inherent water content of the landfilled waste

To solve these problems a company can implement Wi Fi on their network. This can reduce the price
of implementing additional cable in the network.
Wi Fi technology comes with many upsides, but it also has it downfalls too.
Pros
The major advantage of Wi Fi is the fact that users do not need to be physically connected to the
network in order to access the Web and network resources. Wi Fi provides increased mobility. Among
employees, those who use a laptop will worry no more about connecting using a connection cable.
They will be able to move from their office to the meeting room without losing connection. Besides
eliminating much of the need for extensive wiring and dedicated workstation, Wi Fi means the
Internet is accessible anywhere users can pick up a signal, which allows for greater flexibility in office
configurations. Wi Fi systems can also be much less expensive to set up, since the main cost is in the
wiring to the main router. If an existing wired Internet network is already in place, adding Wi Fi
capabilities is relatively simple, with no need to purchase a dedicated workstation. Wi Fi systems are
also relatively inexpensive to operate and easy to use. For employees and authorized visitors to
connect to Wi Fi does not present any technical difficulty. Depending on the router type simply enter
the WEP or WAP key associated with your Wi Fi after double clicking the icon Wireless Network
Connection . After a

Compare And Contrast Walter And Beneatha
Lorraine Hansberry wrote a novel in 1959 called A Raisin in the Sun. In this book, the Youngers, an
African American family of five is living together in a very small apartment located in Chicago.
Mama owns this apartment, her two kids Walter Lee and Beneatha live with her, as well as Walter s
wife Ruth and their son Travis. After the death of Walter and Beneatha s father, Mama receives an
insurance payment because of his passing. There are many opinions on what to do with this money.
Walter and Beneatha both have ambition. There goals are very different but through this quest of
hopes and dreams, they have to remember that everything happens for a reason, even if it doesn t seem
that way. Walter Lee is an African American man who is constantly trying to make things right for his
family. He is very selfish to begin with. Walter basically just expects the $10,000 to go to him to open
a liquor store. When the check arrives, that is all he cares about. He doesn t care to talk to his wife,
even when Mama tells him he needs to talk to her. Walter ignores her and only has his eyes on the

She is a fierce character who is very hard headed. She believes in everything she does. After telling
Mama and Ruth she is now going to guitar lessons they remind her of all the other activities she has

disagrees with Mama and her family often. She has different point of views on the cultures, God and
society. Beneatha also has a different view on the money that the family receives. Beneatha agrees that
the money is Mama s, but Mama supports her in becoming a doctor. Course you going to be a doctor,
honey, God willing (38). Although Walter doesn t completely agree with Beneatha s decision of
becoming a doctor, he can later find the good in Beneatha just to make them

Men And Women s Sexual Desire
Are men and women s sexual desire the same as we get older or is it just a myth that a women s desire
decreases as we get older? It has been my experience that conversations with other women tend to
always lead into when we had to have sex last. Most of the women I talk to about this topic do not
enjoy sex as much as they once used to. The significant other seems to want to have sex much more
than the female does. I understand this does not include everyone. One of my goals for this class was
to find out why this decline happens more significantly to woman, and if there is anything that can be
done to fix that decline. How our body is influenced and responds sexually is based off many factors.
Our brain, senses, hormones, level of intimacy and age are a few of the main factors. The limbic
system is a structure located in the subcortical area of our brain. (Our Sexuality, pg 148). Structures
among that area, hypothalamus, amygdala and hippocampus affect our emotion and sexual motivation.
(Our Sexuality, pg 148). They hypothalamus is the structure that is responsible for production of
hormones. The area that controls our emotions is the amygdala. This area also receives the input from
our senses. Particular senses may heighten or hinder our sexual arousal. Also in the limbic system are
certain neurotransmitters that affect our sexual arousal. Dopamine promotes sexual arousal whereas,
serotonin can hinder sexual arousal. (Our Sexuality, pg 148).

The Old Testament And The New Testament
80. Why Is OWNERSHIP An Illusion?
The two gospels, The Old Testament and The New Testament provide mirror images of Terrestrial
Humans mentality Evolution and the comprehensive overview of the mental developmental trends
over a span covering last five millennia. The Old Testament moral norms served in establishing a legal
system with base in an absolute, irrevocable right of private ownership. Incontestable proof of
continuous process of Evolution in this micro segment of Spiral is an emergence of The New
Testament , as a herald of a new mental era on the Earth, which naturally succeeds The Old Testament
. Needless to remind, that The Old Testament also inspired adherents to vehemently follow the
principle an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth , a total defence of ownership ...based on the
superstition or the illusion that one was God s chosen people and was superior to all heathens . (Quote
from Livets Bog , Vol IV #1310)
Further, the Old World Testament advocates the ownership right over marriage and the emerged laws
allowed a capital punishment in the instance of the discovery of infidelity . Even today, the same anti
civilization legal heritage package and outrageously severe unwritten rules represent daily routine in
the most conservative and primitive corners of the Globe. Marital fidelity defended by force and
violence is definitively unsustainable practice and turns ...marriage into an enforced consolidation of

Additionally, Form 8865 will have to be filed any time that Amy (or other U.S. person) acquires,
disposes or changes at least a 10% interest in the foreign partnership. Amy, a U.S. citizen, will be
subject to taxation in both the Czech Republic and the United States. She has to report her share of the
foreign partnership income, gains, losses, deductions, and credits on her U.S. tax return. However,
Amy can claim a foreign tax credit and report her distributive share of foreign taxes paid or accrued.
Her status as a resident of the U.S. will not be affected by her involvement in the foreign partnership,
and she will not be subject to any withholdings. Because the partnership will be involved in a U.S.

Analysis Of Sonnet 130
Poetry is a form of writing in where the author expresses his or her emotions through style and
rhythm. There is no one specific reason why people like poetry. Not only is poetry personal, it can also
be deeply emotional to people, as poems can bring back memories and experiences that have
resonated throughout the reader s life. Love poetry is not only deeply emotional for people, but it s
something most people can relate to as most people will experience some form of love throughout
their life. Easily the most famous poet in history, Shakespeare, had many thoughts on love, and many
of his poems invoke this emotion. Sonnet 130 specifically is thought provoking and much more
relatable than other poems of the 1600 s, and like most of Shakespeare s sonnets, this poem is an
expression of love. This is due to the fact that Shakespeare does not make the woman in the poem out
to be some sort of goddess. In telling his mistress that he loves her, our speaker also has to give us an
idea about what his love is like. He is stating who and what she is, and that at the end of the day, his
love is not only beautiful, but unique, exclusive and rare.
Sonnet 130 was written during the 1600 s. Many poets during this time stylised their lover or whomst
ever they were writing about as divine and perfect in everyway. Sonnet 130 is considered by many to
make a mockery of this. This sonnet compares the speaker s lover to a number of other beauties, and
never in the lover s favor. In the first

Yellow Wallpaper Breakdown
The Yellow Wallpaper
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is about how a woman progresses through a
nervous breakdown. The story is written in a first person narrative where the narrator is a unnamed
woman with mental health issues. She recently moved to a mansion with her husband, because he
believes that the residence is a great place for the narrator to recuperate from her mental illness.
However, the narrator s mental condition continues to get worse while living in the mansion as she
becomes more and more bothered by the wallpaper that is in her room. She ends up becoming
obsessed with the wallpaper and starts to imagine that the figures in the wallpaper are moving.
Towards the end of the story the narrator has a complete mental breakdown and goes insane. The story
ends when John, the narrator s husband, faints when he enters his wife s room, because he is greatly
disturbed when he finds her creeping around and becoming one of the figures behind the wallpaper.
The Yellow Wallpaper can be interpreted on a personal level by associating it with the author. Gilman
suffered from nervous breakdowns and depression because she was told to live a very plain life as best
as she could by a specialist in nervous diseases. She also was told to avoid using her imagination and

The Death Of Juliet s Deaths For Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, was originally published in 1597. Until this day,
the play is very well known worldwide. The classic love story is set in Verona and is about a long feud
between the Montague and Capulet families. This feud causes the death of their beloved children,
Romeo and Juliet, who are described as star crossed lovers. It is a play of contrasts of love and hate,
joy and sorrow, light and dark, youth and age, life and death. Some readers will blame the main
characters, Romeo and Juliet for bringing about their tragic deaths, however some may argue that
other characters are responsible for their deaths, with only little of the blame to be placed on Romeo
and Juliet. Firstly, one character who is undeniably responsible for Romeo and Juliet s death is Friar
Laurence. There are three primary reasons he is accountable for Romeo and Juliet s death. The first
reason is that he gave the poison to Juliet. In the last few scenes of Act Three, we find out that Juliet
will have to marry Paris and because she does not want to, she seeks Friar Laurence for advice. Juliet s
feels that her only solution is to kill herself, but Friar Laurence advises her there is another way out;
drinking the potion that will stop her pulse and breathing, making her seem like she is dead for forty
two hours: When presently through all thy veins shall run / A cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse /
No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest, / The roses in thy

Golfer with Brachial Neuritis Misdiagnosed Essay
During Dr. Wallace s clinic, one of the golf girls came into the Athletic Training Room complaining of
right shoulder pain. Dr.Wallace first began the evaluation by asking if she remembered how she hurt
her shoulder. The golfer said she had been at home during winter break and was wearing socks in the
house. She said she was running and fell and when she was falling, she attempted to catch herself by
using a nearby wall. Dr. Wallace then checked her strength by asking her to abduct her shoulders as far
as she could. He then added resistance and noticed weakness in her right shoulder. He tested the
ligaments and told her they were all intact. He also asked her if she had been experiencing any
numbness, tingling, etc. since she fell and she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She still had some loss in her sensory neurons, but they showed some slight improvement from the
initial evaluation. A follow up MRI also showed a ...decrease in the brachial plexus thickening and

usually diagnosed with brachial neuritis have severe pain in the shoulder and some even have
localized pain. Only a small number of patients have pain that subsides to the fingers of the affected
side. This case study supports the signs and symptoms along with the treatment that our team doctor
prescribed. When I asked him about the situation, he said that he asked her if she had the flu recently
because sometimes the brachial plexus can give off flu like symptoms such as a fever, fatigue, cough,
and runny nose. He said this condition is called brachial neuritis. He said the majority of the time it
affects one side of the shoulder and that s why he asked the golfer is she had any of the symptoms or
the flu during the break. He said that the muscles become weak and in some cases, paralyzed. For
treatment, Dr. Wallace said he prescribes pain relievers so it won t bother the patient as much. He said
in severe cases, the patient will undergo surgery and then see a physical therapist to help regain
strength in the shoulder. When I asked if he thought the golfer had had brachial neuritis he said most

How Community Nursing Can Potentially Address Them
According to one recent study, more than 1.5 million people experience homelessness in the United
States every year (Doran, 2013, p. 355). Individuals of all ages and from all walks of life face
homelessness today. While already facing this one adversity, they also face inadequate health care in a
variety of ways. They face specific health problems in higher concentrations than other populations,
including mental health disorders and substance abuse (Harkness, 2012). Many also face chronic
health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension that go untreated (Harkness, 2012). In addition,
access to health care is a barrier with which this population struggles. Healthy People 2020 includes
goals to improve access to comprehensive, quality health care services and improve health related
quality of life and well being for all individuals (2020 Topics and Objectives, 2010). This paper
reviews these goals in light of the homeless population and explores how community nursing can
potentially address them.
The goal to improve access to health care services is important in the homeless population. The
homeless often lack the ability to pay for health services. Many homeless remain uninsured or
underinsured (Parker, 2013). Without insurance, the homeless of the United States have little to no
access to preventative services (Parker, 2013). Instead, they rely on emergency departments for
treatment (Doran, 2013). This occurs for many reasons. First, it is one of the only places

Orca Captivity Research Paper
Killer whales, otherwise called orcas, are the biggest individuals from the dolphin family and the top
predator in their ecosystem. They are a standout amongst the most wise marine animals, particularly
because of their intense faculties of sight and hearing. Their excellence has surprised people for years,
yet for some orcas imprisonment restricts their opportunity and delight in life. It isn t just harming the
physical and psychological wellness of these creatures, but also represents a risk to coaches, yet
individuals keep on profiting from killer whales. In bondage, numerous orcas experience the ill effects
of poor physical and psychological well being. In the wild, they can without much of a stretch travel

John Milton Cage Influence On Society
The classical period was a revolutionary start of music for decades to come. Many composers prior to
the 1920s gained their fame and fortune through music and their creativity in composing. John Milton
Cage, Jr. was born in Los Angeles on September 5th in 1912. Cage was the son of John Milton Cage,
Sr., an inventor, hence the creativeness yet to come through his music. In 1928, Cage graduated from
Los Angles High School with the intent to pursue a degree in writing. Cage studied about two years at
Pamona College, travelled Europe for around eighteen months, and then resumed school at UCLA. He

Cage began experimenting with music by placing screws and plates between the strings of a piano to
generate different sounds, known as the prepared piano . He also experimented with tape recorders,
record players, and radios, finding the music around him in the simplest objects, otherwise not
considered instruments by the typical composer or musician. After realizing his makeshift instruments
were not what he needed, he began brainstorming ideas for new instruments. Pieces such as Imaginary
Landscape No. 4 and Water Music were just a few examples of his creativity in music. For Imaginary
Landscape No. 4 Cage used twelve radios played at once to create this composition. Water Music was
created by combining shells and water to form a masterpiece. Cage used unimaginable items such as
kitchen gadgets, metal sheets, various common objects, and even silence to create a discovery no other
composer had considered before. Through his music, he turned the everyday sounds we hear into
something so much more. He performed with his percussion ensemble in New York at the Museum of

I was running a famous line in the movie Forrest Gump mad by Tom Hanks, this is the mindset that

is muscular endurance. In the game of basketball, there are four quarters, many time during the fourth,
the importance of endurance training comes to light. A player that is in peak physical condition often

fact that it uses high power movement repetitively when playing the game. While low endurance

Importance Of Measuring Meridian Arcs Essay
The completion of the survey of a great chain of first order triangulation s along the arc of the 30th
meridian of east longitude, from South Africa to Egypt, is considered one of the most exceptional
surveying feats to ever be executed in Africa and thus its history has interested geodetic surveyors
throughout the world. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs, the
need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the
sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc.
The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as far
back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century,
geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size and
shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine the
radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived by Sir
David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that it would
contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006)
therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. However, besides the need to determine more
accurate dimensions for the Earth (Hendriks, 1955), there was a pressing need to establish a reliable

Summary Of Charles Darwin And The Leakey
Charles Darwin Vs The Leakeys:
Charles Darwin and the Leakey s are two very similar yet different anthropologist s whose discoveries
have had an immense impact on the world of anthropology. However, which of the two anthropologist
s is better? Although the two are without a doubt, legends in anthropology history, Charles Darwin is
definitely better due to the greater impact his discovery has had on the way we live. His theory of
evolution by natural selection is the basis for many things we know today, and without it, we would
not know a lot of the things we do. It is from his theory that we were able to learn exactly how we
came to be, a question that anthropologists have been asking for several years. Therefore, when
looking at who is a better anthropologist, it is clear that the answer is Charles Darwin because his
discovery has had a larger impact on the way we live.
To begin with, Charles Darwin and The Leakey s are different because they both discovered different
things. While Darwin came up with a theory of evolution by natural selection, The Leakey s found the
earliest fossil of our genus, known as homo. Darwin came up with his theory in 1859. The theory
explained that evolution is due to a phenomenon called natural selection. According to his theory,
natural selection is a process where only the organisms best adapted to their environment survive and
transmit their genetic characters in increasing numbers to succeeding generations, while those less
adapted tend to be eliminated. He explained it as Multiply, vary, let the strongest survive and the
weakest die (cite). On the other hand, the Leakey s did not come up with a theory, instead, they
uncovered the earliest fossil of our genus, referred to as homo. Their discovery led to the confirmation
of the theory that humans are of African descent.
Even though their actual discoveries differed, Charles Darwin and the Leakeys are both similar in the
sense that the two are significant contributors to the understanding of our origins. Charles Darwin s
theory of evolution by natural selection is responsible for explaining where all living things came
from, as well as how they became exquisitely adapted to their particular environments. Whereas, the

Rappaccini s Daughter Discussion Questions
I think these questions can best be answered through Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter. Before I
answer those questions by using that particular story, I do want to say a couple of things about The
Minister s Black Veil. I know there s supposed to be some sadness and a great message to this story,
but I can t help it it made me laugh a lot. The gossiping, the speculation, the way that a stupid piece of
material could totally change who someone was to everyone even though nothing about him really
changed all of that made me laugh. One of the funniest things, and maybe it s not supposed to be
funny but was to me, was when Mr. Hooper s sermon style or plea to his parishioners, was one of mild
persuasive influences. That description really made me laugh, and so did the part about the corpse
shuddering from seeing Mr. Hooper s face behind that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hooper was funny to me. The story just didn t affect me in the way that maybe it affects some people,
and it s hard for me to answer these questions through that story, because the humor in it kept me from
determining whether it was cryptic or straightforward. I guess I didn t find that story to be tragic, but
Rappaccini s Daughter is quite the opposite for me. While I thought it was straightforward and not
cryptic, I did find Rappaccini s Daughter to be completely depressing. I believe the meaning is very
clear at the end. To me, it was saying that selfish intentions of wanting more often lead to the
destruction of the really truly important things in life of the simple and beautiful things. Rappaccini
was so obsessed with his experiments and his own genius that he didn t seem to mind risking his own
simple yet beautiful daughter. During her entire life, he did this! Eventually, it hit him what he had
done to his own daughter. He realized he was the reason she lived a life of loneliness and seclusion.
Sadly, he realized too late

Reflection On The Self Essay
Article Reflections on the Self: A Case Study of a Prosopagnosic Patient (2008) and Movement Cues
Aid Face Recognition in Developmental Prosopagnosia (2015) give a review on visual agnosia. These
article s main focus is on prosopagnosia. Sigmund Freud coined the term visual agnosia back in 1891.
Visual agnosia is the ability to see an image and store it, but there is an impairment in visually
recognizing the specific object. There are a plethora of subtypes of visual agnosia, which include
prosopagnosia (the inability to recognize faces), achromatopsia (the inability to distinguish different
colors), landmark agnosia (the inability to recognize buildings and places), etc. If one suffers from
visual agnosia they can have multiple subtypes of associative agnosia. In the review case study, The
Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat (Sacks, 1995), Dr. P was diagnosed with Prosopagnosia,
Landmark Agnosia, and Simultagnosia. The first article, Reflections on the Self: A Case Study of a
Prosopagnosic Patient by Stanley Klein, Rami Gabriel, Cynthia Gangi and Theresa Robertson take a
look at a patient who suffers from prosopagnosia and how it can affect one s personality. Researchers
were curious to see if there was a relationship between brain activity of someone with prosopagnosia
and their personality. They were interested in this specific topic because of the historical importance of
the brain s process of facial recognition. Based on evolution, an important mechanism for survival

Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On...
Integrative Approach to Counseling
Key Concepts
The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability to affect their life
through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most people s unhappiness stems from the
lack of meaningful relationships, and most relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the
choices we make (Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well
being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships.
Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an individual the
opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a deterministic view of life, but are
instead given license to create the life they wish to have, unencumbered by the weight of societal,
cultural, or familial expectations (Corey, 2013).
Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant Christianity: people are
free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and all choices have an outcome. That
outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative (damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in
the Bible, the outcome of one s life rests in their choices.
Counselor s role
In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing role in the
relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives (Corey, 2013).
The world is becoming more and more

ABSTRACT : Due to the huge growth and expansion of the World Wide Web, a large amount of
information is available online. Through Search engines we can easily access this information with the
help of Search engine indexing. To facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval search engine
indexing collects, parses, and store data. This paper explains partitioning clustering technique for

set of objects in such a way that objects in the same group are more to each other than to those in other
groups in Web Usage Mining . Clustering methods are largely divided into two groups: hierarchical
and partitioning methods. This paper proposes the k mean partitioning method of clustering and also

Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler
A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of
unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the
faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie.
Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those
around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into
a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out
her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to
show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting
her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary
foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate
demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain
control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of
days that we see of her life, but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an
older man that is held with high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to pass
through people s lives without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge. His

Stalin s Launch of the Great Terror Essays
Stalin s Launch of the Great Terror The Great Terror of 1936 1938 came after a period of success, with
the completion of the First Five Year Plan and the Peasants had been collectivised to make food for the
workers in the factories. Yet there was still opposition to Stalin s leadership inside the party from
Ryutin; Ryutin argued that Stalin should be removed from the position of General Secretary. Stalin
then called for the execution of Ryutin (most communist did not believe in killing their own), Kirov,
Stalin s supporter and the head of Leningrad headed the majority against the execution. This made

He also admitted to conspiring with Trotsky to destroy Communism this conspiracy was called the
Trotskyite Zinovievite Conspiracy. The other Trials were in 1937 with Trotsky, but he was not in the
country, yet they still said he was the lead conspiracer and a counter revolutionary. In 1938, Bukharin
was put on trial, he admitted to nearly everything except, conspiring to plotting the murder of Lenin.
These trials made the Russian people believe that there was a conspiracy going on and that anyone
could be in on it. This made workers suspicious of anyone who did not produce as much as their
fellow workers, this meant that everyone worked hard. This was a brilliant way of getting the workers
to produce more to push crash industrialisation along, if there had not been the conspiracy theory then
Russia would not have acted like a Totalitarian State and therefore not have been as productive. The
theory scared the Russian people from even thinking anti communist thoughts in case they were taken
away to labor camps. This fear gave total control to Stalin over all areas of Russia as no one wanted to
be sent to the labor camps, so this was a very effective way of controlling the people of Russia.

  • 2. A Comprehensive List Of Red Wines Essay This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of red wines. Instead this post will discuss the four popular red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Merlot. Also, this isn t a post about how to choose a red, this is a post about its history, flavors and wine Cabernet Sauvignon The Cabernet Sauvignon grape is a small thick skinned blue purple grape with lots of seeds in proportion to its size(A 150). There are two main reasons that Cabernet Sauvignon continues to thrill our palates and table is its ability to adapt to soil and climate and its ability to resist plant viruses and diseases (B 38). Two significant sites for Cabernet Sauvignon are Bordeaux, France and Napa Valley, California (A 152). In France, the ancient gravel of Bordeaux holds heat which allows the vines to stay warm while at the same time preventing the vine from truly thriving. It is the barely surviving that makes the flavor so intense and produces the highly sought after fruit (A 152). In California s Napa Valley it is the ability of the rocky and volcanic soil of the alluvial (fan??) to hold water and nutrients, which creates the signature flavor (A 153). When it comes to bottling the Cabernet Sauvignon is rarely bottled alone. In Bordeaux it is usually part of a team of red grapes that includes either Merlot and Cabernet Franc, or Malbec, or and Petit Verdot(A 140). But as long as 75% of the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon the label doesn t have to list the additional wines(A 141). Then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Synoptic Gospels In Matthew, Mark, And Luke Synoptic Comparison Matthew, Mark, and Luke are the three books in the New Testament that have been titled the synoptic gospels. The three gospels differ in some dramatic ways, but have many similar stories and accounts of the life of Jesus. There have been disputes over the source and the relationship between the three gospels, but most scholars tend to agree that the gospel of Mark was written first, and the authors of Matthew and Luke used Mark as a source for their work. This Markan priority helps scholars to begin to examine the differences and similarities that appear across the synoptic gospels, and determine how and why many pericopes seem to vary and even contradict each other at times. An example of one of the passages that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mark, Jesus time in his hometown of Nazareth abruptly ends when he decides to leave town and go to teach in other villages. Luke, however, tells us that Jesus interactions with the Nazarenes are not yet over. Jesus begins to tell the people how in the time of Elijah and Elisha there was a famine in the land and many people were suffering because of it, Gentiles and Jews alike. Elijah and Elisha, however, were sent by God not to the Jews and people of Israel, but to outsiders in other places. This was a form of punishment for the people of Israel for the rejection of God. Jesus pointed out the passage because he wanted to warn the Nazarenes of what might happen if they continue to reject his teachings. Another possibility is that Luke added this section to promote his social agenda of righting the situations of people that have been wronged and, more importantly, giving up money and possessions to the poor, outcasts and women. Jesus talks about how God decided to send the prophets to the outcasts in other regions rather than the Israelites, who had already received much favor from God in the past. The Nazarenes were offended at Jesus mention of God s inclusion of Gentiles by sending aid for them and not for the Jews, showing universalism. God blessed the people that were righteous and worthy of his aid, and the Jews were not happy that Jesus brought up God s sending of his prophets to Gentiles as opposed to Jews in the Old Testament. This addition by Luke explains why the Nazarenes became so upset at what Jesus was telling them. Jesus used these examples as a way of previewing that his mission was to reach everyone, not just Jews. The addition of these examples shows how Luke wanted to highlight his theme of universalism and including everyone who is willing to follow. Luke s major themes of righting social wrongs and giving up comforting possessions are also supported through the addition of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Positive Impact Of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New World. His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of goods and cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s explorations were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which started the exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever. His discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe and the New World. These exchanges changed the world we live in today and will continue to fuel centuries of exploration and discoveries. The Columbian Exchange was the beginning of the expansion of trade between the New World and Europe. The Columbian Exchange started the flow of goods between continents that had not shared the same borders since Pangaea. Columbus voyage, along with the many voyages that followed, disrupted much of the biological segregation brought about by continental drift. (McNeil, 1). Journalist Charles Mann states in his research for his book, 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, on the Columbian Exchange that No other person, changed the face of the Earth as radically as Columbus did. Columbus crossing of the Atlantic, Mann says, marked the start of a new age, not only for the Americas but also for Europe, Asia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Agricultural production entails investment of resources and farmers will have no incentive for making investments in areas where there is little opportunity for marketing their products or if the returns accruing from the sales of agricultural products do not reflect the opportunity cost of investment. As a result, most farmers in areas with few marketing opportunities are engaged primarily in subsistence agriculture, which has constrained improvement in their quality of life [3]. The problem of market access is linked to the inability of farmers to meet market standards, low volumes of produce, wide dispersion of producers, presence of middlemen and perceived low prices in the formal market [1 7]. Therefore, development policies in Ghana have focused on the modernization and commercialization of the agricultural sector in addressing the major agricultural production and marketing challenges. [8,9]. The development policy of the Food and Agricultural Sectors II (FASDEP II) is notably among these policies. It seeks to increase both the competitiveness and integration of farmers in domestic and international markets by producing the required volumes as well as the quality of commodities on a timely basis. Specifically, strategies adopted by this policy to

  • 7. Lewis Personality In The Chronicles Of Narnia Lewis personality is personified in The Chronicles of Narnia, and specifically in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader through the children. The children Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace are searching for the seven missing lords exiled by King Caspian s odorous Uncle Miraz. Additionally, they are searching for the far east or Aslan s country. But more pointedly Edmund and Lucy are continually searching for Aslan. In the novels, Aslan is a huge lion that appears from time to time offering assistance, judgement, and wisdom to the children as they journey through Narnia. The children are constantly searching for Aslan (Christ) just as Lewis was searching for the truth of Christianity and to come back to the father. By reading the books with a Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lewis was struggling with leading a life that was devoted to Christ and he presented this struggle and eventual surrender to the Lord through his work. Lewis had to learn that God would also be with him and pursue even when he was sinning and running from the Lord. This continual chase and presence is mirrored through Aslan. Aslan is always with the children throughout the entirety of the novel, They see Aslan at a distance moving across the horizon or a living image of him on the page of a book; he answers Lucy s prayer by providing help to escape from the terrors of the Dark Island; and he talks to Caspian, Lucy, and Edmund. He empowers, encourages, restrains, and guards the children, filling more of a spiritual than a physical role (Schakel, Hidden Images of Christ in the Fiction of C.S. Lewis). Dreaming up a fantasy world full of talking animals was not a last minute invention for Lewis Walter Hooper, his editor, tells us. When asked about how he came to the idea for the series he states, All my seven Narnia books, and my three science fiction books, began with seeing pictures in my head. At first they were not a story, just pictures. The Lion all began with a picture of a Faun carrying an umbrella and parcels in a snowy wood. This picture had been in my mind since I was about sixteen. Then one day, when I was about forty, I said to myself: Let s try to make a story about it (Hooper 12). • 8. Ancient Cultures Beliefs Way back in the ancient cultures beliefs and faith played a major roll in their lifetime. It treasured the art that spoke to them and made them closer to god, since writing was not indicate back then. Some believed in only one god, some in many gods and some people believed in objects like animals, the sun, items and even the weather. After visiting the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth and observing some of the ancient Egyptian art collection displayed, I have decided to pick the theme of God to inform about. After my research, I discovered new and different key points about the Egyptian beliefs in god and how it affects us in our world today. My first object is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut, the second object is Red Figure Cup Showing the Death of Pentheus (exterior) and a Maenad (interior) and the last object is the Head of a Ewe. The first object that I have picked while I was at the museum is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut. It is said that it was created in the early 18th century between the years 1473 1458 B.C. The instant I walked in into the Ancient Egyptian collection I couldn t take my eye off of that sculpture, due to that being it was probably the the darkest object there. The kneeling Statue of Senenmut was engraved from a grayish green stone, I like this object because, all the achievement and work that Senenmut have done in his life was carved all over this object. • 9. The Problem Of Landfill Accident 1. Introduction: With the rapid growth of population and economic, more and more waste is produced. Landfill is still the main method of waste disposal. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States has 3091 active landfills and over 10000 old municipal landfills. It was estimated that 265 million metric tons of municipal waste was disposed in the United States in 2013 (Powell, Townsend and Zimmerman, 2015). However landfills pose great threats to our environment and public health. All landfills will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water. The fact that landfill accidents such as fire, explosion and slip occasionally happen makes people show more concern with landfills nowadays. So it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gas migration along with surface and groundwater contamination are the three dominant types of landfill failure in the survey area. Besides, slope failure and fire occupy 8% and 3% of the total failure respectively. Landfill gas is a complex mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a landfill. Approximately 46% of landfill gas is composed of methane. Most of the rest component is carbon dioxide. Also there is trace amount of other volatile organic compounds which comprises less than 1%. The developed pressure, concentration and temperature gradients cause the landfill gas emissions to the atmosphere vertically and migrations to surrounding soil laterally. Gas migration is an indicator of landfill failure because landfill gas becomes a threat to environment when emitted into atmosphere, since both methane and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases. Also, the trace amount of other volatile organic compounds can present serious health hazards (Nastev, 2001). Landfill gas will also pollute land when migrates to surrounding soil. Wi Fi technology comes with many upsides, but it also has it downfalls too. Pros The major advantage of Wi Fi is the fact that users do not need to be physically connected to the network in order to access the Web and network resources. Wi Fi provides increased mobility. Among employees, those who use a laptop will worry no more about connecting using a connection cable. They will be able to move from their office to the meeting room without losing connection. Besides eliminating much of the need for extensive wiring and dedicated workstation, Wi Fi means the Internet is accessible anywhere users can pick up a signal, which allows for greater flexibility in office configurations. Wi Fi systems can also be much less expensive to set up, since the main cost is in the wiring to the main router. If an existing wired Internet network is already in place, adding Wi Fi capabilities is relatively simple, with no need to purchase a dedicated workstation. Wi Fi systems are also relatively inexpensive to operate and easy to use. For employees and authorized visitors to connect to Wi Fi does not present any technical difficulty. • 12. Men And Women s Sexual Desire Are men and women s sexual desire the same as we get older or is it just a myth that a women s desire decreases as we get older? It has been my experience that conversations with other women tend to always lead into when we had to have sex last. Most of the women I talk to about this topic do not enjoy sex as much as they once used to. The significant other seems to want to have sex much more than the female does. I understand this does not include everyone. One of my goals for this class was to find out why this decline happens more significantly to woman, and if there is anything that can be done to fix that decline. How our body is influenced and responds sexually is based off many factors. Our brain, senses, hormones, level of intimacy and age are a few of the main factors. The limbic system is a structure located in the subcortical area of our brain. (Our Sexuality, pg 148). Structures among that area, hypothalamus, amygdala and hippocampus affect our emotion and sexual motivation. (Our Sexuality, pg 148). They hypothalamus is the structure that is responsible for production of hormones. The area that controls our emotions is the amygdala. This area also receives the input from our senses. Particular senses may heighten or hinder our sexual arousal. Also in the limbic system are certain neurotransmitters that affect our sexual arousal. Dopamine promotes sexual arousal whereas, serotonin can hinder sexual arousal. (Our Sexuality, pg 148). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only is poetry personal, it can also be deeply emotional to people, as poems can bring back memories and experiences that have resonated throughout the reader s life. Love poetry is not only deeply emotional for people, but it s something most people can relate to as most people will experience some form of love throughout their life. Easily the most famous poet in history, Shakespeare, had many thoughts on love, and many of his poems invoke this emotion. Sonnet 130 specifically is thought provoking and much more relatable than other poems of the 1600 s, and like most of Shakespeare s sonnets, this poem is an expression of love. This is due to the fact that Shakespeare does not make the woman in the poem out to be some sort of goddess. In telling his mistress that he loves her, our speaker also has to give us an idea about what his love is like. He is stating who and what she is, and that at the end of the day, his love is not only beautiful, but unique, exclusive and rare. Sonnet 130 was written during the 1600 s. Many poets during this time stylised their lover or whomst ever they were writing about as divine and perfect in everyway. Sonnet 130 is considered by many to make a mockery of this. • 20. The Death Of Juliet s Deaths For Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, was originally published in 1597. Until this day, the play is very well known worldwide. The classic love story is set in Verona and is about a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families. This feud causes the death of their beloved children, Romeo and Juliet, who are described as star crossed lovers. It is a play of contrasts of love and hate, joy and sorrow, light and dark, youth and age, life and death. Some readers will blame the main characters, Romeo and Juliet for bringing about their tragic deaths, however some may argue that other characters are responsible for their deaths, with only little of the blame to be placed on Romeo and Juliet. Firstly, one character who is undeniably responsible for Romeo and Juliet s death is Friar Laurence. There are three primary reasons he is accountable for Romeo and Juliet s death. The first reason is that he gave the poison to Juliet. In the last few scenes of Act Three, we find out that Juliet will have to marry Paris and because she does not want to, she seeks Friar Laurence for advice. Juliet s feels that her only solution is to kill herself, but Friar Laurence advises her there is another way out; drinking the potion that will stop her pulse and breathing, making her seem like she is dead for forty two hours: When presently through all thy veins shall run / A cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse / No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest, / The roses in thy ... Individuals of all ages and from all walks of life face homelessness today. While already facing this one adversity, they also face inadequate health care in a variety of ways. They face specific health problems in higher concentrations than other populations, including mental health disorders and substance abuse (Harkness, 2012). Many also face chronic health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension that go untreated (Harkness, 2012). In addition, access to health care is a barrier with which this population struggles. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs, the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc. The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as far back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century, geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. • 31. Summary Of Charles Darwin And The Leakey Charles Darwin Vs The Leakeys: Charles Darwin and the Leakey s are two very similar yet different anthropologist s whose discoveries have had an immense impact on the world of anthropology. However, which of the two anthropologist s is better? Although the two are without a doubt, legends in anthropology history, Charles Darwin is definitely better due to the greater impact his discovery has had on the way we live. His theory of evolution by natural selection is the basis for many things we know today, and without it, we would not know a lot of the things we do. It is from his theory that we were able to learn exactly how we came to be, a question that anthropologists have been asking for several years. Therefore, when looking at who is a better anthropologist, it is clear that the answer is Charles Darwin because his discovery has had a larger impact on the way we live. To begin with, Charles Darwin and The Leakey s are different because they both discovered different things. While Darwin came up with a theory of evolution by natural selection, The Leakey s found the earliest fossil of our genus, known as homo. Darwin came up with his theory in 1859. The theory explained that evolution is due to a phenomenon called natural selection. According to his theory, natural selection is a process where only the organisms best adapted to their environment survive and transmit their genetic characters in increasing numbers to succeeding generations, while those less adapted tend to be eliminated. He explained it as Multiply, vary, let the strongest survive and the weakest die (cite). On the other hand, the Leakey s did not come up with a theory, instead, they uncovered the earliest fossil of our genus, referred to as homo. Their discovery led to the confirmation of the theory that humans are of African descent. Even though their actual discoveries differed, Charles Darwin and the Leakeys are both similar in the sense that the two are significant contributors to the understanding of our origins. Charles Darwin s theory of evolution by natural selection is responsible for explaining where all living things came from, as well as how they became exquisitely adapted to their particular environments. • 32. Rappaccini s Daughter Discussion Questions I think these questions can best be answered through Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter. Before I answer those questions by using that particular story, I do want to say a couple of things about The Minister s Black Veil. I know there s supposed to be some sadness and a great message to this story, but I can t help it it made me laugh a lot. The gossiping, the speculation, the way that a stupid piece of material could totally change who someone was to everyone even though nothing about him really changed all of that made me laugh. One of the funniest things, and maybe it s not supposed to be funny but was to me, was when Mr. Hooper s sermon style or plea to his parishioners, was one of mild persuasive influences. That description really made me laugh, and so did the part about the corpse shuddering from seeing Mr. Hooper s face behind that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hooper was funny to me. The story just didn t affect me in the way that maybe it affects some people, and it s hard for me to answer these questions through that story, because the humor in it kept me from determining whether it was cryptic or straightforward. I guess I didn t find that story to be tragic, but Rappaccini s Daughter is quite the opposite for me. While I thought it was straightforward and not cryptic, I did find Rappaccini s Daughter to be completely depressing. I believe the meaning is very clear at the end. To me, it was saying that selfish intentions of wanting more often lead to the destruction of the really truly important things in life of the simple and beautiful things. Rappaccini was so obsessed with his experiments and his own genius that he didn t seem to mind risking his own simple yet beautiful daughter. During her entire life, he did this! Eventually, it hit him what he had done to his own daughter. He realized he was the reason she lived a life of loneliness and seclusion. Sadly, he realized too late ... • 33. Reflection On The Self Essay Article Reflections on the Self: A Case Study of a Prosopagnosic Patient (2008) and Movement Cues Aid Face Recognition in Developmental Prosopagnosia (2015) give a review on visual agnosia. These article s main focus is on prosopagnosia. Sigmund Freud coined the term visual agnosia back in 1891. Visual agnosia is the ability to see an image and store it, but there is an impairment in visually recognizing the specific object. There are a plethora of subtypes of visual agnosia, which include prosopagnosia (the inability to recognize faces), achromatopsia (the inability to distinguish different colors), landmark agnosia (the inability to recognize buildings and places), etc. If one suffers from visual agnosia they can have multiple subtypes of associative agnosia. In the review case study, The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat (Sacks, 1995), Dr. P was diagnosed with Prosopagnosia, Landmark Agnosia, and Simultagnosia. The first article, Reflections on the Self: A Case Study of a Prosopagnosic Patient by Stanley Klein, Rami Gabriel, Cynthia Gangi and Theresa Robertson take a look at a patient who suffers from prosopagnosia and how it can affect one s personality. Researchers were curious to see if there was a relationship between brain activity of someone with prosopagnosia and their personality. They were interested in this specific topic because of the historical importance of the brain s process of facial recognition. Based on evolution, an important mechanism for survival ... • 34. Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On... Integrative Approach to Counseling Key Concepts The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability to affect their life through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most people s unhappiness stems from the lack of meaningful relationships, and most relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the choices we make (Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships. Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an individual the opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a deterministic view of life, but are instead given license to create the life they wish to have, unencumbered by the weight of societal, cultural, or familial expectations (Corey, 2013). Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant Christianity: people are free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and all choices have an outcome. That outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative (damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in the Bible, the outcome of one s life rests in their choices. Counselor s role In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing role in the relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives (Corey, 2013). • 35. How Partitioning Clustering Technique For Implementing... ABSTRACT : Due to the huge growth and expansion of the World Wide Web, a large amount of information is available online. Through Search engines we can easily access this information with the help of Search engine indexing. To facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval search engine indexing collects, parses, and store data. This paper explains partitioning clustering technique for implementing indexing phase of search engine. Clustering techniques are widely used for grouping a set of objects in such a way that objects in the same group are more to each other than to those in other groups in Web Usage Mining . Clustering methods are largely divided into two groups: hierarchical and partitioning methods. This paper proposes the k mean partitioning method of clustering and also provide a comparison of k mean clustering and Single link HAC . Performance of these clustering techniques are compared according to the execution time based on no of clusters and no of data items being entered. Keyword:Indexing,Data mining, clustering k Means Clustering, Single Link HAC I. INTRODUCTION Keeping in mind the end goal to encourage quick and precise data recovery, Search engine indexing gathers, parses, and stores information. As the Web continues growing, the quantity of pages filed in a web crawler increments correspondingly. With such a substantial volume of information, finding applicable data fulfilling client needs in light of basic inquiry questions turns into an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie. Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of days that we see of her life, but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an older man that is held with high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to pass through people s lives without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Stalin s Launch of the Great Terror Essays Stalin s Launch of the Great Terror The Great Terror of 1936 1938 came after a period of success, with the completion of the First Five Year Plan and the Peasants had been collectivised to make food for the workers in the factories. Yet there was still opposition to Stalin s leadership inside the party from Ryutin; Ryutin argued that Stalin should be removed from the position of General Secretary. Stalin then called for the execution of Ryutin (most communist did not believe in killing their own), Kirov, Stalin s supporter and the head of Leningrad headed the majority against the execution. This made Kirov very popular in the party and when there was a vote in the Central Congress for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also admitted to conspiring with Trotsky to destroy Communism this conspiracy was called the Trotskyite Zinovievite Conspiracy. The other Trials were in 1937 with Trotsky, but he was not in the country, yet they still said he was the lead conspiracer and a counter revolutionary. In 1938, Bukharin was put on trial, he admitted to nearly everything except, conspiring to plotting the murder of Lenin. These trials made the Russian people believe that there was a conspiracy going on and that anyone could be in on it. This made workers suspicious of anyone who did not produce as much as their fellow workers, this meant that everyone worked hard. This was a brilliant way of getting the workers to produce more to push crash industrialisation along, if there had not been the conspiracy theory then Russia would not have acted like a Totalitarian State and therefore not have been as productive. The theory scared the Russian people from even thinking anti communist thoughts in case they were taken away to labor camps. This fear gave total control to Stalin over all areas of Russia as no one wanted to be sent to the labor camps, so this was a very effective way of controlling the people of Russia.
