Alabama V. Jaffree ( 1985 )
Wallace, Governor of Alabama v. Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16
1 20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First
Amendment Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment?
Facts of the Case: The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an
Alabama statute that authorized teachers to lead a one minute period of silence for meditation
or voluntary prayer in all public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the
Mobile County Public School system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been
subjected to various acts of religious indoctrination, as a result of Alabama statute 16 1 20.1 and
asked for an injunction prohibiting Mobile County schools from maintaining or allowing the
maintenance of regular religious prayer services. The purpose of Jaffree s complaint was to
prohibit the devotional services occurring in his children s school and the consequent mockery
of his children that occurred when they refused to recite the prayers to Almighty God (Stevens,
40). This type of law in Alabama public schools was not the first of its kind. Prior to statute 6 11
20.1, Alabama passed law 16 1 20 authorizing one minute of silence in public schools for
meditation. After the authorization of statute 16 1 20.1 came 16 1 20.2, which allowed teachers to
lead willing students in a prayer (Stevens, 40). Opinion of the

Persuasive Essay On The Good Life
The Good Life What is the good life? my friend asked me in a feeble attempt to produce ideas for
his Philosophy paper. Aside from the obvious answer of using material items to generate
happiness, the question drove me consider what made someone s life inherently good. A few
days after our conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to
eventually answer his question. Throughout Open Door, Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons,
and explores the ideas of losing one s self in order to achieve the good life. Understanding what it
means to lose one s self is imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of
losing yourself is, a voluptuous surrender, lost in your arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in
what is present so that its surroundings fade away (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will
allow you to find answers to what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the
unknown itself are transformative; however, many individuals do not care for the unknown or are
unaware of it. Those who do not care for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today
s society, adults restrict their children to playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and
imaginative persona outside of the house, for they believe their children will hurt themselves. Solnit
expresses her concern for this generation by wondering what will come of placing this generation
under house arrest (Solnit 7). She

George S Patton Emotions
Although at first glance General George S. Patton is anything but creative, if you think about it,
he is one of the most creative people of all time. Both his battle strategies and speeches were
creative, bold, and extremely powerful. Each of his speeches, particularly his speech to the Third
Army, are some of the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke
riled his troops and made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike
Patton and his speeches because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the
speeches had on the troops who served under him and the power in each word he spoke. http:/

Leonardo And Eyck Similarities
The Renaissance was from the late fourteenth century to the late sixteenth century. The word
Renaissance means rebirth in French. In this period of the arts, the paintings dramatically
improved. The individuals changed from flat two dimensional people to three dimensional, life like
figures. During the Renaissance, there were many artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo
, and Jan van Eyck.
Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter who lived from 1452 to 1519. Although generally
known as a painter, Leonardo was also a superb inventor. He designed a rectangular parachute,
crafted a silver lyre, and sketched rapid firing cannons. Surprisingly, he recorded over five
thousand pages of notes from many different topics including anatomy and flight. Because he took
such a great interest in learning and experiments, Leonardo did not complete many paintings.
Sadly, he completed less than twenty works. His most famous painting was the Mona Lisa.
Toward the end of his life, Leonardo da Vinci later traveled to converse with French King Francis
I, and da Vinci died there at the age of sixty seven.
Michelangelo also was an Italian artist. He lived from 1475 to 1564. Because he preferred to
work alone, Michelangelo refused to have apprentices. Although one of his most famous works is
the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, he preferred to sculpt. At age 23, ... Show more content on

and even traveled to Portugal in order to paint King Philip I s future wife. Completed in 1434, one
of his most famous paintings is the Arnolfini portrait. Unsurprisingly, it is a double portrait of
Giovanni di Nicolao Arnolfini and his wife. Jan van Eyck included many symbols in this painting,
including the dog and the shoes. The dog represents fidelity and the cast off shoes allude to holy
ground. Jan van Eyck payed attention to the miniscule details in his Renaissance

Themes And Motifs In Quentin s Journey
Adventure is a clear theme and motif throughout his journey. While he loved the idea of finding
Margo, the quest to find her was ultimately better than finding her. Their trip spanned the entire
East Coast from Florida to New York. Speed pit stops, side stories of romance and even deadly
cows were encountered in the process of reaching his final destination. After shock and disbelief
strikes himself and the rest of his friends when they re left alone at a vacant and barren shack in
the middle of nowhere, his friends are ready to end the journey there and make it home in time for
their senior prom. Quentin had other plans. Quentin had gone blind, covered in the mask of loveand
made the choice to stay alone, while his friends had begun their trip to return home. When Quentin
finds Margo roaming the streets of Agloe, he confesses his love, but instead of being met with joy,
he discovers his misdirection. Margo wasn t leaving clues for him to find her, she was leaving
clues to remind him that she was safe. Quentin now becomes enlightened on the fact that she didn t
bring him the happiness that he had always wanted but instead the experience did. The experience
of going on an adventure was what made him feel good.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is hinted throughout the novel when Quentin is given the assignment from his High school
English teacher to read Moby Dick and in his own mind becomes Captain Ahab. Captain Ahab also
believed finding that whale would make him feel happy, but he realized that getting there was a
much greater experience. Quentin remarkably refers himself to Captain Ahab while driving to New
York, foreshadowing the ending that he will realize that he would not actually capture Margo. This
shows the symbolism present in the movie and book. Sometimes whatever you think you are
searching for might not always give you the result you

Outline Respiratory System
Task 1
Provide evidence of planning. State aim, objective and proposed research methods.
Task 2
Outline the structure and function of the respiratory system. Include labelled diagrams to support
your theory.
The Respiratory Systems function is to supply the body with oxygen and excrete carbon dioxide
.The respiratory system has many different parts, these include the nasal cavity, epiglottis, larynx,
trachea, bronchi, lungs, bronchioles, alveoli, ribs, intercostal muscle and diaphragm.
Nasal cavity
The nasal cavity is where the oxygen enters the respiratory system and where carbon dioxide is
released from the body. It filters the oxygen entering with hairs and mucus, these hairs and mucus
trap dust and bacteria.
Epiglottis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The diaphragm contracts when the ribcage moves up. The diaphragm relaxes when the ribcage
move downs.
Task 3
Describe the role of the following in relation to the respiratory system
Muscles
Blood
Nervous system
Muscles
Muscles control the process of inhaling and exhaling. The intercostal muscles contract and move
the ribcage up and out while the diaphragm contracts, this increases the pressure inside the thoracic
cavity which causes oxygen to drawn in. when the intercostal muscles relax and move the ribcage
down and in and the diaphragm relaxes, this decreases the pressure inside the thoracic cavity which
expels the carbon dioxide.
Blood
Oxygen enters the blood stream through diffusion in the lungs, the oxygen is carried throughout
the body in the haemoglobin contained in the red blood cells. Carbon Dioxide is carried
throughout the body in the plasma of the blood and leaves the body by diffusion in the lungs.
Nervous System
The respiration system requires complex interactions of the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Questions On Foreign Agents And International Property Owners
6.How to Find Foreign Realtors
How can you find some proper foreign realtors and contact them directly if as a property owner
you want to bypass your local realtors (or cannot find any with the foreign connections) and pay
only the foreign part of the real estate commission? Or are you just this local realtor or a
developer and willing to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that
you have to go to the foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search
there for advertisers of properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to
become your business partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties
in the foreign internet or print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are
especially interesting to international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many
countries of the world in the following two aspects:
1.These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular
country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that
they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can
advise their buyers accordingly;
2.They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular
country because of their recent ads. If you are a property owner or real

Essay about A Knight s Tale
The Canterbury Tales begin with The Knight s Tale; which chronicles the tragic love triangle of
Palamon, Arcite and Emilye. The following tale, which is told by the Miller, is also a love
triangle, and is in many ways similar to the Knight s tale. However, the Miller s tale sharply
contrasts the Knight s, almost parodying it. The Knight s tale is a tragic of nobility, heritage and
focuses heavily on mythology and astrology, whereas The Miller s tale is a comedy, focusing on
the common man and his less civilized, and bawdy lifestyle. The two stories mirror one another in
many ways, but are presented from completely different sides of the spectrum. When the two tales
are looked at closely, it doesn t seem to be a coincidence that they occur... Show more content on

Nicholas does not share Palamon or Arcite s passion for true love, and comes up with a simple
hoax to trick Alison s unintelligent husband John into leaving he and Alison alone for a night.
The Miller s story continues to stray from the Knight s as a third luster is presented for Alison s
affection; Absalon, a parish clerk. As opposed to an epic battle for courtship, the story devolves
into slapstick humor, with Absalon kissing Alison s rear, and burning Nicholas in attempted
revenge. The balance of the love triangle is also thrown awry in the Miller s tale. Not only if a
fourth man present, Alison s wife John (who is not even included in any form of romance
throughout the tale) but Alison s affection seem to only be for Nicholas. She is easily seduced by
Nicholas and has little, to no romantic interest in Absalon, fooling him into kissing her rear and
then laughing about it with Nicholas. These elements merely add to the Miller s tale of
perversion, distancing and parodying itself from the Knight s tale of honor and true love.
Throughout the Knight s tale, there is an aura of divinity present, with destiny being almost
predetermined. The Greek gods intervene in the mortal realm, and the prayers of Palamon, Arcite
and Emelye are all answered by the respective gods prayed too. Fate is practically inescapable,
with the universe being in a perfect order from the beginning.

The Struggle For Lgbt Rights
The Struggle for LGBT+ Rights in America Brought together by various organizations, and united
by shared persecution, the gay community came together and pushed for their rights, and were
able to obtain them through science and litigation. The outset of the gay rights movement can be
traced back to World War I. The World War brought America out of its isolationism and exposed
Americans to life outside America. For the first time Americans saw firsthand the way countries
like, England, France, Germany, and others treated their citizens. For many Americans World War
I was a catalyst for change, and the fight for gay rights is no exception. From 1920 1923 Henry

He would also go on to write articles for various publications, arguing for gay rights, under a pen

Carbohydrates are Killing Us Softly
The nutritional dietary consumption of carbohydrates is between 55 75% for the vast majority of
the global population as their main source of food intake and energy. And the general populous
continues to be misinformed by government agencies regarding what a normal, healthy diet,
should be, as well as what a balanced diet looks like. Eating a low carb high fat, or ketogenic, diet
of high fat, adequate protein and low carbohydrates can provide many health benefits as compared
to the alternative of an unhealthy diet. Research suggests that a ketogenic diet builds a healthier

Ketosis is the metabolic state that most of the body s energy supply comes from ketone bodies in
the blood, contrasting to the state of glycolysis in which blood glucose provides most of the
energy (Taubes, 2011, 140 141). Ketosis might be better known as acetone breath, a common
symptom of progressing diabetes mellitus type. It is characterized by serum concentrations of
ketone bodies, with low and stable levels of insulin and blood glucose. It is commonly
generalized with hyper ketonemia, which is an elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood
throughout the body. Ketone bodies are formed by ketogenesis as the liver glycogen stores are
depleted (Taubes, 2011, p.155). The ketone bodies used for energy are acetoacetate and beta
hydroxybutyrate, with that, the levels of ketone bodies are regulated mainly by glucagon and
insulin (p.156). Most cells can then be used by both glucose and ketone bodies for fuel, and during
ketosis, free fatty acids and glucose synthesis fuel the rest.
According to Mark Sisson (2009), longer term ketosis can result from fasting or staying on a low
carbohydrate diet, and ketosis that s deliberately induced serves as a medical intervention for
epilepsy. In glycolysis, higher levels of insulin block release of fat from adipose tissues and
promote storage of body fat, while the body is in ketosis, fat reserves are continually released and
consumed as energy (Sisson, 2009, p.47). This is why ketosis is referred to as

Technology And Systems Administration Has Prompted...
As indicated by Kizza (2013), the fast development of systems administration has prompted
expanded security dangers. A large portion of these dangers are an aftereffect of hacking, uncalled
for employments of system assets and system gadget vulnerabilities. Familiarity with the different
shortcomings and vulnerabilities is fundamental to the achievement of current systems (Kizza,

The system security occurrences are expanding at an exasperating rate each year. As the

system security can be considered as the easy objectives inside each system. These vulnerabilities
are available in the whole system framework (LAN organize, singular gadgets and ISP) that make

These patients are more at risk of developing sepsis because their immune system may not have the
capacity to fight off the infection as the rest of the population (McClelland, 2014). If sepsis
develops in a patient, especially a patient who is more at risk, it is important for the nurse to
recognize that an infection has developed such as redness, swelling, fever, and drainage. The
nurse should assess the patient for possible signs and symptoms of infection including a urinary
tract infection, infection in a wound either from diabetes or a surgical wound and presence of a
respiratory infection (Bernstein, 2013). An infection can occur anywhere in the body and
completing an assessment is important when there is an infection present. If the infection is
ignored or not treated, it can become systemic. A systemic infection will destroy the tissue and
can eventually reach the blood stream causing a fever, increased heart and respiratory rate,
decrease in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose, altered mental status and a severe increase
or decrease in WBC. Once treatment has been initiated, how the body responds to the treatment
will depend on the severity of the sepsis. If the body does not respond to the rapid fluid
replacement or other measures to sustain life, then the patient is in septic shock (McClelland,

The Departed Narrative
While The Departed is not Scorsese s best work it is a step up and a more well crafted film than
its predecessor Infernal affairs. Because of the how the original screenplay had set out to be a
Chinese action cop movie, infernal affairs did exactly that, there was a lot of close up, zooms and
in your face action. That directly brings the audience into the screen, couples of full shot that adds
significant to the hong kong scenery, a global economy city with triads wars. Infernal affair was
far more fast paced in compared to The Departed, where Scorsese kept the camera more grounded,
allowed the characters to develop more, and in turns the movie had a longer runtime.

Why Laptops Are Distracting America s Future Workforce
There s no denying that technology has grown to play a major role in education and learning.
Students are using laptops, tablets, and smartphones to research, complete, and even collaborate on
assignments, both in and outside of the classroom. Timothy D. Snyder and Thomas L. Friedman
both have written articles expressing their opposing opinions on technology in the classroom.
Timothy Snyder is a Professorof History at Yale University who has written five different award
winning books. In his article, Why Laptops Are Distracting America s Future Workforce , Snyder
explains to students and teachers why he is against technology in the classroom. Thomas Friedman

In Thomas Friedman s article, Come the Revolution, Friedman is confident that an online only
education program called Coursera is the solution to the problems of rising tuition and the
increased importance of education in a knowledge economy. The rhetorical strategies used by
Friedman were much more effective in comparison to Snyder s, especially his use of valid
numbers, statistics, and facts to support his claims. One example of this is in the second paragraph
of Friedman s Come the Revolution. After introducing Andrew Ng, professor and cofounder of
Coursera, and explaining the online platform s benefits, Friedman quotes Ng to support his
argument. He writes, I normally teach 400 students, Ng explained, but last semester he taught
100,000 in an online course on machine learning. To reach that many students before, he said, I
would have had to teach my normal Stanford class for 250 years. Friedman uses the valid numbers,
statistics, and facts from reliable authorities to support his argument.
Another rhetorical strategy that was very effective for Friedman but was ineffective in Snyder s
argument is tone. Choosing words and examples carefully for tone is important when attempting to
persuade because tone indicates the writer s attitude towards his subject or audience. In Timothy
Snyder s, Why Laptops in Class Are Distracting America s

Analysis Of The Boy In The Box
Out of all homicide cases in the US, about one third of them end up unsolved. The unfortunate
murder of The Boy In The Box is no exception. The spine chilling case of The Boy In The Box is
about the devastating death of a little boy found in Philidelphia and no one knows who or what
killed him. The mysterious deathleft many investigators baffled about who the boywas and how he
died. Many people from different places developed their own theories to conclude his death, but like
any other theories, there s always something that disproves them.
In February of 1957, a man came across a big box that contained what he thought was a doll, but
upon further inspection, he found out that he had actually discovered the body of a little boy. ...

made to have a leather strap and a buckle added. She described the man to be: blonde, between
the ages of 26 30. She said that he paid in cash and that she never saw him again. This lead to
detectives searching over 100 stores nearby but they eventually got nowhere. The next and last
clue about the poor boy s mysterious case was the box he was found in. The box was from a
JCPenny store 15 miles away. The investigators used the serial number on the box in which they
later traced down and found out that it had previously contained a bassinet. 12 boxes of the
bassinets were shipped but there was no record because since all 12 paid in cash. 8 out of the 12
people who bought the bassinets called to clarify that they had either thrown the box away or still
have it.
Apart from the clues given they still had one more mystery to solve and it was who the boy was.
Investigators still wanted to continue with the case so they kept the boy in a morgue. Many
people from 10 different stated came to look at the boy to see if he was a missing family member.
Unfortunately, nobody claimed him. Foot prints and fingerprints of the boy were taken and
compared to hospital records but nothing was found. 400,000 flyers of the boy were sent out and
even the AMA sent out a description but nothing came through. The fact that there is no proof that
the boy even existed led to many theories of who

The Problem Posing By Paulo Freire
Classroom experiences are like polyatomic ions: some are positive while others are negative.
While the majority of the experiences at the West Genesee School District have been positive, I
can recollect one experience that was particularly negative. During the duration of my Advanced
Placement global history course, I was the subject in a class, that, by definition, would be closer to
the problem posing classroom that Paulo Freiredescribes in his piece The Banking Concept of
Education. In his works, Paulo Freire asserts that the problem posing education makes them [the
students] critical thinkers (Freire 221). As Freire describes, a class that implements the problem
posing policy is one in which students are to become critical thinkers. Freire would have been
ecstatic that other educators carried out his ideas in their own problem posing classroom. My
teacher me made it unequivocal that this class was going to challenge the way we analyzed and
understood history. The teacher continued to describe the role of the student in the classroom; the
educator expected the pupil to analyze readings and argue about what the pupil deemed to be the
most important concepts presented. Regardless of the content, Egyptian hieroglyphics or Genghis
Kahn, while the students studied history, the teacher insisted that the students evaluated the
relationships between the causes, effects, and relevance of various topics throughout the course. In

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead
Founded by SГёren Kierkegaard, existentialism is a philosophy concerning why life exists and the
meaning behind it. It emphasizes how there is no set purpose in life, and the humans just merely
exist in the world. A big idea behind existentialism is that existence precedes essence. After World
War II, existentialismgained popularity in Europe with it appearing in many works of literature. In
the film Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the main characters of the film contemplate the
meaning behind life throughout the movie, especially during their exchange about death in a box.
Similarly, in Shakespeare s Hamlet, the main character questions life and death in his famous To be
or not to be speech. Both of these works of literature seem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Through this delivery, the audience hears a lot about his thoughts regarding life and death.
Hamlet seems to think that dying ends all the suffering and heartache of living. Hamlet says, To
die, to sleep / No more and by a sleep to say we end / The heartache (Shakespeare III, i, 68 70). To
him, death is freedom. This is actually very similar to the existentialism, as they view death as
nothingness and freedom. Furthermore, Hamlet fears death because of the uncertain. He says, But
that the dread of something after death, / The undiscovered country from whose bourn / . . . Thus
conscience does make cowards of us all (Shakespeare III, i, 86 87 and 91). The unknown scares
Hamlet. This view is quite a departure from existentialism. Existentialists believe that death is
nothingness not unknown like Hamlet. Moreover, in the end of Hamlet s speech, he mentions how
a well thought out plan may be overthought causing the action not to happen. Hamlet seems to
believe that one should act quickly and not overthink. This seems contrary to existentialism.
Existentialists believe in freedom of choice; however, they believe that choices have a huge
impact. Therefore, they should be well thought out and not carried out rashly. In this sense, Hamlet
does not seem to follow the existentialist viewpoint. Hamlet s To be or not to be speech in the play

Arguments Against Illegal Immigration
Immigration has been a part of American History since the discovery of this beautiful land
hundreds of years ago. Who first colonized the Americas has been a great debate over the years by
many researchers. An Article in the National Geographic stated, Traditionally, Native Americans are
believed to have descended from northeast Asia, arriving over a land bridge between Siberia and
Alaska some 12,000 years ago and then migrating across North and South America. But recent
research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent
was instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then
expanded into the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from
northeast Asia. Then as we have learned in this course, the land was later settled by immigrants
seeing religious freedom from the English Parliament. These same people that fled the harsh
conditions of England in the 1600 s later went on to write the Constitution, one might argue that the
constitution was written by illegal immigrants. So why is immigrationsuch a divided issue today?
Many people believe that illegal aliens are taxing on the American people, they drive up the crime
rate in our cities and states, and they cause the cost of car insurance rate to increase, and keep
wages low, as well as consume the majority of the resources available for low income families. But
are these things really a threat to the country?
As mentioned before, many people who are opposed to illegal immigration believe that illegal
immigrants are taxing on the American tax payers. Taxes is a touch subject for a lot of people
especially those who make millions and have to pay thousands upon thousands to the IRS. There
have been numerous of actors and wealthy business people who have tried to go without paying
taxes or fled to another country to try to skip out on paying taxes, but the reality is that there is
no getting around it. As we know our founding fathers fought to be free from the taxes that Great
Britain placed on their goods and were successful. In this day in time we are now taxed on nearly
everything we purchase, but it is not to the point where we are paying more for

She is eager to learn and is willing to change.

Earth and its outer space
It is commonly believed that earth lies in an empty space in the universe which is vacuum. This
is not absolutely true because vacuum is a space with nothing, no even air, but there are actually
particles existing in the interstellar space. At sea level the density of air molecules is 1
quintillion per cm3; at 100km roughly where aurora occurs, density is 1 trillion per cm3; in the
interstellar space the density is merely 1 per cm3. Therefore as a result, most of outer space is
filled with electrically conductive plasma. Besides of particles, there are magnetic field, electric
current, electromagnetic force, gravitational forces… It is these invisible, but important
factors which give rise to the interaction between the sun and the earth.

after the fall of Rome. During the Dark Ages, their priorities were different from the Romans;

The pictures above show something most people are probably familiar with. Especially during

huge components of the game, the pitcher throwing the ball and a batter hitting it, are shown in the

pitching the ball and the other player up to bat, at the baseballfield in Patterson Complex.

Putting spin on the ball results in a curveball. Jon Drobnis, author of The Physics Behind
Baseball, states that air flows swiftly under the ball, causing it to dive when it is thrown with
curve. A curveball spins from top to bottom, opposite of a fastball, which spins from bottom to
top. The ball is given curve by snapping the wrist as it is thrown (Griesmer, 2014). The air
flowing under the ball is caused by the existence of air resistance. Air resistance is also called
drag, and it is the forces opposing an object in motion through the air. They act opposite to the
direction of the object s velocity, and they depend directly on velocity. The ball flying through
the air meets the opposing force of air resistance, which causes air to flow under the ball creating
low pressure, and air to flow over the top of the ball creating an area of high pressure. If the ball
lacked spin, the air would simply flow around the ball, rather than over it and under it. Throwing
a curveball causes the ball to deviate from the straight path of the pitcher to the catcher, and it
also causes the ball to drop suddenly before it reaches the batter. As the ball is flying through the
air, it deviates slightly from the straight path a fastball would normally take. Although it only
deviates from the straight path by a few inches, from the point of view of the batter it looks as if
the ball curves about 15 inches from the straight

stay, but once again they will be takin care of. Communities that use roads and highways by airports
can be burdened by airport construction because of the increased traffic from construction vehicles
hauling equipment and supplies to the airport. A lot of times construction companies have to travel
through neighborhoods and other main roads that causes huge headaches for the community.
Airport construction also poses a short term but substantial threat to the environment with all the
different jobs being done, there are a lot of different construction equipment such as cranes, dozers,
excavators, concrete equipment, etc. that can cause problems with the environment. The main
environmental issues affected by include air, water, and noise pollution. Air pollution has always

Improve Your Singing Voice With Vocal Training
By Skyler Jett
Oct 17, 2009
Every human being is born with a gift, a talent that comes in various forms. It could be the gift of
the written word. It could be the gift of leadership. It could be the gift of the performing arts.
Whatever your gift is, that talent is nothing if it is not perfected. A gift is fully appreciated only if
it is utilized.
Let us focus on the gift of music, particularly the vocals. We often conclude that they, the vocalists,
are born to sing. We are mistaken. Singers need vocal training to reach that level of greatness, that
moment when their very voices touch its audience in the most dramatic way.
For example, we have all seen the arduous auditions for American Idol. The majority of these
hopefuls are talented. Sure they can carry a tune. But, this writer believes that the judges do only
seek the person who can carry a tune. Does he or she have the potential for ... Show more content on

It is a serious business for those who really want to become one, more so... for those that singing is
their bread and butter. There s no way they can let a moment pass without doing anything to
improve the talent that they have. You can opt to use synthesizers alright, to make your sound
good. But this won t definitely take you to where you want really to be.. and that s the singing
stardom.
Discipline is the very best thing you can get from taking vocal training. Through vocal training,
you will be able to learn that music can give you the sense of fulfillment. The more efforts you
put forth into improving your singing, the more you ll get to appreciate your talent in singing.
Cigarettes and alcohol? These are just some of the temptation that can surely do harm to your
singing voice. If yo are a disciplined artist you ll be able to keep away from these temptations. Keep
in mind, your voice is your asset, and you must really take good care of that

Amy Tan Two Kinds
There is a sense of pride to where one comes from whether it is because of the culture, people or
the environment. There is a beauty that stands out about where we call home. However, leaving
home is often essential in acquiring a better living and growth. In the short story Two Kinds the
author, Amy Tan depicts a story of migration and the expectations. The story is told in first person
of Ni kan a young girl who is being brought up as a second generation immigrant. There is a sense
of non acceptance that seem to form over time based on the idealization of America, the land of
opportunities. The author really embraces how important setting is to growth and understanding of
an individual. Ni kan s mother was a woman of adversities and tribulations.

Essay on The Physics of a Toilet
The Physics of a Toilet
Almost everyone in America has used, is using at this very moment or will use a flushable,
indoor toilet. Their privacy, and in some cases cleanliness, are taken for granted day by day. The
basic physics of siphoning, and the right amount of water, makes the toilet operate in our desired
fashion. This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind
when witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why
does the water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere
creates a certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may
think, these things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck
section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online
howstuffworks.com, the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a
higher location to a lower location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect
caused by it. The function also depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet
bowl at one given moment. The tank of the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of
water, when all of that water is moved to the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water
going down the pipe creates the siphon effect, sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to
dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for that matter, it would not be enough to create
the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the mechanism and drain itself to be level with
the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site
physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with the combination of water and
gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential energies.
Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water
has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. Water s total potential energy
includes gravitational potential

Clarence Thrush Point Of View
The passage from from Maria Edgeworth s novel, Belinda, portrays human behavior. The
passage uses literary devices in order to create depth in a character. Edgeworth uses point of
view, tone, and language in order to give depth to the character Clarence Hervey. The passage
follows the storyline of Clarence Hervey. However, the passage is written in third person point
of view. By having the passage written in third person point of view the reader can see how the
narrator feels about Clarence, but not who Clarence actually is. It is made clear that the narrator
detests Clarence within the first few lines of the passage, Clarence Hervey might have been
more than a pleasant young man, if he had not been smitten with the desire of being thought
superior in everything, and being the most admired person in all companies. Since the passage is
written in third person point of view, the reader is given a opinion of Clarence without having
any prior knowledge of who Clarence is outside of what the narrator states. Although, by having
the passage written in third person the reader is able to assume that Clarence will be the cause of
a problem for the narrator at some point in the story. The reader can infer Clarence s future actions
by how the narrator... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tone of the passage is reflected in how nothing appears to be accomplished within the
passage. He had considerable literary talents, by which he was distinguished at oxford; but he
was so dreadfully afraid of passing for a pedant, that when he came into the company of the idle
and the ignorant, he pretended to disdain every species of knowledge. Clarence, as depicted in the
quote, was dreadfully afraid, this shows that Clarence is a hardened character, and that the narrator
does not like this about him. The fact that Clarence was too afraid to show his literary talents
depicts a weakness within the character, a longing to fit in with the rest of

Bedouin Society
Introduction
The Bedouins, a nomadic people of the Middle East, are an indigenous people just as any other
indigenous people around the world, striving for economical, political, and cultural autonomy. Even
living in the harsh environment that the Middle East is, with the political and religious clashes
between countries and even the deadly environment, which the Middle East is known for, the
Bedouin people still continue to live with so much diversity surrounding them. Unfortunately since
the 1970 s, the Bedouin people are in a clash with the Israeli government concerning land rights and
the assimilation of the Bedouin people into the Israeli society. Nonetheless, the Bedouin people still
strive for the self sufficiency and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the idea of using produce as a form of payment, many farmers/households use
their harvest to pay В‘protectors . These protectors are big factors in the Middle East region,
especially with the Bedouin people, as they protect the lands and more importantly the crops of
the Bedouin people from raids of other tribes. This tribute/raid relationship was a simple business
proposition whereby the pastoralist received a needed product (grain) and the farmer acquired a
scarce commodity (security) (Galy 44). As with most pastoral societies, such as the Bedouin
peoples, the type of animals determines the division of labor of which they are herding (for
example, camels). However, in order for the Bedouin people to herd their own animals, they must
have claims to land, which is a strong debatable issue concerning the Bedouin people around Israel.
Each Bedouin group seeks to control a land area that contains sufficient resources to sustain
communal life (Galy 45). Each Bedouin group has their own distinct tract of land in a definite
zone (Galy 45). This zone is well known to the surrounding Bedouin groups, as they are not to
interfere with the land. However, in cases of an emergency, pastoral units are allowed to other
surrounding tracts of land, even if any Bedouin group does not own them. Furthermore, since the
Bedouin people migrate close to countries (such as

Does Temperature Affects Fruit Juice
Research question
Does temperature affect the rate pectinase produces juice?
Introduction Fruit juices are popular among consumers as they contain many vital vitamins or
antioxidants. But before they go on the shelves, the factory has to produce them. One
of the earliest memories of my childhood has been juice. I remember waking up at the
crack of dawn early in the morning to go pick fresh apples from our apple tree in our
backyard to make fresh apple juice for breakfast with my grandmother. To this day, that
same recipe is still used today though my family. Seeing my grandmother boil the apple
slices over her old cooktop, made me wonder how factories produced apple juice at
such massive rates as I knew they weren t going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When pouring the applesauce over
the cheesecloth protected funnel, the liquid came out first, followed by the applesauce.
Drops first came rapidly, and then slowed down in the amount after a few seconds of
being poured.
Processed Data Averages
Category Liquid Produced
Room Temperature Applesauce

Frozen Applesauce
2.3 ml
Control Data
Errors
During trial one, the original funnel was too small. The applesauce was at the tip of the
funnel, causing liquid to overflow over the funnel, spilling. Another error in this
experiment was not specifying how cold to freeze the applesauce in the freezer.
Different temperatures could have affected the rate of liquid formed.
Conclusion
This experiment is a good representation of what goes on in fruit juice factories. Overall,
frozen applesauce did affect the pectinases rate of diffusion. This could be a cause of
the temperature in the applesauce, being too low, freezing the solution mixed with it.
Evaluation
The data presented is reliable. The minor errors shouldn t really have an effect on the
outcome of this experiment as the trials proved similar

Long Hair Should Be Allowed In The Laboratory
In the laboratory, all students, as well as laboratory instructors, are required to follow a specific
and serious list of instructions in order to ensure the safety of themselves and their classmates.
Students are expected to wear the appropriate attire at all times. This includes but is not limited to
long pants, closed toed shoes, such as boots or tennis shoes, and safetygoggles with a fully sealed
rim. These measures are not to be taken lightly otherwise a student may be harmed by a chemical
burn if a spill were to happen. Students with long hair are also responsible for tying back their hair
so it doesn t accidentally burn from the experimental substances. Gloves are to be worn whenever
the instructor tells the students they are required.

Security in a Post September 11th World Essay
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, have greatly changed security policies in the United
States. September 11, 2001, is an infamous day that has changed the United States in numerous
aspects. After this infamous day, many people live with the fear of experiencing another major
attack. After the attacks the national Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also
known as the 9/11 Commission, was created. One task given to the 9/11 Commission was to
provide recommendations designed to prevent future attacks. In order to prevent another attack the
power of securityin the United States was increased. The effects of this increase in security can be

The system did not protect against suicide bombing or hijacking. The prescreening system has
since been expanded to protect against these threats by triggering a secondary screening of
passengers and carry on items. The checkpoint screening technology used on September 11,
2001, received very little improvement since the 1970s; therefore, the technology was very
limited in its capabilities. One goal of the TSA was and still is to correct the vulnerabilities of
screening technology. Eventually, Whole Body Imaging, or WBI, machines were developed to
remove the vulnerabilities of the screening process. However, WBI scanners struggle to gain
acceptance by passengers because of many believe the machines invade one s privacy due to the
high resolution, reveling images of the passenger. Health precautions also are factors in people s
reluctance to use the machine. Many people fear that possibility of being irradiated by the x rays
used by the machines. When going through airport security today, one will be given the choice of
using the WBI scanner or have a pat down by a TSA officer. The 9/11 Commission called for the
addressing of human factors issues at screening checkpoints. Human factors issues that need to be
addressed included screener selection and training, fitness for duty, and human interaction with
screening technologies. To improve the issues in this area, universities and

  • 2. Alabama V. Jaffree ( 1985 ) Wallace, Governor of Alabama v. Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16 1 20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First Amendment Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment? Facts of the Case: The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an Alabama statute that authorized teachers to lead a one minute period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer in all public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the Mobile County Public School system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been subjected to various acts of religious indoctrination, as a result of Alabama statute 16 1 20.1 and asked for an injunction prohibiting Mobile County schools from maintaining or allowing the maintenance of regular religious prayer services. The purpose of Jaffree s complaint was to prohibit the devotional services occurring in his children s school and the consequent mockery of his children that occurred when they refused to recite the prayers to Almighty God (Stevens, 40). This type of law in Alabama public schools was not the first of its kind. Prior to statute 6 11 20.1, Alabama passed law 16 1 20 authorizing one minute of silence in public schools for meditation. After the authorization of statute 16 1 20.1 came 16 1 20.2, which allowed teachers to lead willing students in a prayer (Stevens, 40). Opinion of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On The Good Life The Good Life What is the good life? my friend asked me in a feeble attempt to produce ideas for his Philosophy paper. Aside from the obvious answer of using material items to generate happiness, the question drove me consider what made someone s life inherently good. A few days after our conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to eventually answer his question. Throughout Open Door, Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons, and explores the ideas of losing one s self in order to achieve the good life. Understanding what it means to lose one s self is imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of losing yourself is, a voluptuous surrender, lost in your arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in what is present so that its surroundings fade away (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will allow you to find answers to what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the unknown itself are transformative; however, many individuals do not care for the unknown or are unaware of it. Those who do not care for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today s society, adults restrict their children to playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and imaginative persona outside of the house, for they believe their children will hurt themselves. Solnit expresses her concern for this generation by wondering what will come of placing this generation under house arrest (Solnit 7). She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both his battle strategies and speeches were creative, bold, and extremely powerful. Each of his speeches, particularly his speech to the Third Army, are some of the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the speeches had on the troops who served under him and the power in each word he spoke. http:/ /www.wjpbr.com/patton.html Innovation is a quality that is instilled in each and ... In this period of the arts, the paintings dramatically improved. The individuals changed from flat two dimensional people to three dimensional, life like figures. During the Renaissance, there were many artists including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo , and Jan van Eyck. Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter who lived from 1452 to 1519. Although generally known as a painter, Leonardo was also a superb inventor. He designed a rectangular parachute, crafted a silver lyre, and sketched rapid firing cannons. Surprisingly, he recorded over five thousand pages of notes from many different topics including anatomy and flight. Because he took such a great interest in learning and experiments, Leonardo did not complete many paintings. Sadly, he completed less than twenty works. His most famous painting was the Mona Lisa. Toward the end of his life, Leonardo da Vinci later traveled to converse with French King Francis I, and da Vinci died there at the age of sixty seven. Michelangelo also was an Italian artist. He lived from 1475 to 1564. Because he preferred to work alone, Michelangelo refused to have apprentices. • 7. Themes And Motifs In Quentin s Journey Adventure is a clear theme and motif throughout his journey. While he loved the idea of finding Margo, the quest to find her was ultimately better than finding her. Their trip spanned the entire East Coast from Florida to New York. Speed pit stops, side stories of romance and even deadly cows were encountered in the process of reaching his final destination. After shock and disbelief strikes himself and the rest of his friends when they re left alone at a vacant and barren shack in the middle of nowhere, his friends are ready to end the journey there and make it home in time for their senior prom. Quentin had other plans. Quentin had gone blind, covered in the mask of loveand made the choice to stay alone, while his friends had begun their trip to return home. When Quentin finds Margo roaming the streets of Agloe, he confesses his love, but instead of being met with joy, he discovers his misdirection. Margo wasn t leaving clues for him to find her, she was leaving clues to remind him that she was safe. Quentin now becomes enlightened on the fact that she didn t bring him the happiness that he had always wanted but instead the experience did. Quentin remarkably refers himself to Captain Ahab while driving to New York, foreshadowing the ending that he will realize that he would not actually capture Margo. This shows the symbolism present in the movie and book. Sometimes whatever you think you are searching for might not always give you the result you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Questions On Foreign Agents And International Property Owners 6.How to Find Foreign Realtors How can you find some proper foreign realtors and contact them directly if as a property owner you want to bypass your local realtors (or cannot find any with the foreign connections) and pay only the foreign part of the real estate commission? Or are you just this local realtor or a developer and willing to find a partner in sales in a foreign country to send you buyers? For that you have to go to the foreign internet with the help of a bilingual person at your side and search there for advertisers of properties for sale from your country or area or city to further ask them to become your business partners. The foreign real estate agents who advertise international properties in the foreign internet or print media (with online editions that you can see in the internet) are especially interesting to international property owners, real estate agents and developers of many countries of the world in the following two aspects: 1.These foreign agents already show their specific interest in selling properties from a particular country that they advertise to their buyers, and as they obviously spend money on ads it means that they are serious about working with this country, have expertise in this country real estate and can advise their buyers accordingly; 2.They might already have some prospective foreign buyers for properties from this particular country because of their recent ads. The following tale, which is told by the Miller, is also a love triangle, and is in many ways similar to the Knight s tale. However, the Miller s tale sharply contrasts the Knight s, almost parodying it. The Knight s tale is a tragic of nobility, heritage and focuses heavily on mythology and astrology, whereas The Miller s tale is a comedy, focusing on the common man and his less civilized, and bawdy lifestyle. Nicholas does not share Palamon or Arcite s passion for true love, and comes up with a simple hoax to trick Alison s unintelligent husband John into leaving he and Alison alone for a night. The Miller s story continues to stray from the Knight s as a third luster is presented for Alison s affection; Absalon, a parish clerk. As opposed to an epic battle for courtship, the story devolves into slapstick humor, with Absalon kissing Alison s rear, and burning Nicholas in attempted revenge. The balance of the love triangle is also thrown awry in the Miller s tale. Not only if a fourth man present, Alison s wife John (who is not even included in any form of romance throughout the tale) but Alison s affection seem to only be for Nicholas. She is easily seduced by Nicholas and has little, to no romantic interest in Absalon, fooling him into kissing her rear and then laughing about it with Nicholas. These elements merely add to the Miller s tale of perversion, distancing and parodying itself from the Knight s tale of honor and true love. Throughout the Knight s tale, there is an aura of divinity present, with destiny being almost predetermined. The Greek gods intervene in the mortal realm, and the prayers of Palamon, Arcite and Emelye are all answered by the respective gods prayed too. Fate is practically inescapable, with the universe being in a perfect order from the beginning. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ketosis is the metabolic state that most of the body s energy supply comes from ketone bodies in the blood, contrasting to the state of glycolysis in which blood glucose provides most of the energy (Taubes, 2011, 140 141). Ketosis might be better known as acetone breath, a common symptom of progressing diabetes mellitus type. It is characterized by serum concentrations of ketone bodies, with low and stable levels of insulin and blood glucose. It is commonly generalized with hyper ketonemia, which is an elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood throughout the body. Ketone bodies are formed by ketogenesis as the liver glycogen stores are depleted (Taubes, 2011, p.155). The ketone bodies used for energy are acetoacetate and beta hydroxybutyrate, with that, the levels of ketone bodies are regulated mainly by glucagon and insulin (p.156). Most cells can then be used by both glucose and ketone bodies for fuel, and during ketosis, free fatty acids and glucose synthesis fuel the rest. According to Mark Sisson (2009), longer term ketosis can result from fasting or staying on a low carbohydrate diet, and ketosis that s deliberately induced serves as a medical intervention for epilepsy. In glycolysis, higher levels of insulin block release of fat from adipose tissues and promote storage of body fat, while the body is in ketosis, fat reserves are continually released and consumed as energy (Sisson, 2009, p.47). One of these complications that can arise from an illness including sepsis. Sepsis is known as a systemic infection that is located within the blood and can invade every organ and tissue in the body. If the infection is not treated in time or cannot be controlled, it can progress to septic shock and eventually to multiple organ dysfunctional syndrome. These patients are more at risk of developing sepsis because their immune system may not have the capacity to fight off the infection as the rest of the population (McClelland, 2014). If sepsis develops in a patient, especially a patient who is more at risk, it is important for the nurse to recognize that an infection has developed such as redness, swelling, fever, and drainage. The nurse should assess the patient for possible signs and symptoms of infection including a urinary tract infection, infection in a wound either from diabetes or a surgical wound and presence of a respiratory infection (Bernstein, 2013). An infection can occur anywhere in the body and completing an assessment is important when there is an infection present. If the infection is ignored or not treated, it can become systemic. A systemic infection will destroy the tissue and can eventually reach the blood stream causing a fever, increased heart and respiratory rate, decrease in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose, altered mental status and a severe increase or decrease in WBC. Once treatment has been initiated, how the body responds to the treatment will depend on the severity of the sepsis. In Thomas Friedman s article, Come the Revolution, Friedman is confident that an online only education program called Coursera is the solution to the problems of rising tuition and the increased importance of education in a knowledge economy. The rhetorical strategies used by Friedman were much more effective in comparison to Snyder s, especially his use of valid numbers, statistics, and facts to support his claims. One example of this is in the second paragraph of Friedman s Come the Revolution. After introducing Andrew Ng, professor and cofounder of Coursera, and explaining the online platform s benefits, Friedman quotes Ng to support his argument. He writes, I normally teach 400 students, Ng explained, but last semester he taught 100,000 in an online course on machine learning. To reach that many students before, he said, I would have had to teach my normal Stanford class for 250 years. Friedman uses the valid numbers, statistics, and facts from reliable authorities to support his argument. Another rhetorical strategy that was very effective for Friedman but was ineffective in Snyder s argument is tone. It emphasizes how there is no set purpose in life, and the humans just merely exist in the world. A big idea behind existentialism is that existence precedes essence. After World War II, existentialismgained popularity in Europe with it appearing in many works of literature. In the film Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the main characters of the film contemplate the meaning behind life throughout the movie, especially during their exchange about death in a box. Hamlet seems to think that dying ends all the suffering and heartache of living. Hamlet says, To die, to sleep / No more and by a sleep to say we end / The heartache (Shakespeare III, i, 68 70). To him, death is freedom. This is actually very similar to the existentialism, as they view death as nothingness and freedom. Furthermore, Hamlet fears death because of the uncertain. He says, But that the dread of something after death, / The undiscovered country from whose bourn / . . . Thus conscience does make cowards of us all (Shakespeare III, i, 86 87 and 91). The unknown scares Hamlet. This view is quite a departure from existentialism. Existentialists believe that death is nothingness not unknown like Hamlet. Moreover, in the end of Hamlet s speech, he mentions how a well thought out plan may be overthought causing the action not to happen. Hamlet seems to believe that one should act quickly and not overthink. This seems contrary to existentialism. Existentialists believe in freedom of choice; however, they believe that choices have a huge impact. Therefore, they should be well thought out and not carried out rashly. In this sense, Hamlet does not seem to follow the existentialist viewpoint. Hamlet s To be or not to be speech in the play allows the readers to see his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Arguments Against Illegal Immigration Immigration has been a part of American History since the discovery of this beautiful land hundreds of years ago. Who first colonized the Americas has been a great debate over the years by many researchers. An Article in the National Geographic stated, Traditionally, Native Americans are believed to have descended from northeast Asia, arriving over a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska some 12,000 years ago and then migrating across North and South America. But recent research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent was instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then expanded into the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from northeast Asia. Then as we have learned in this course, the land was later settled by immigrants seeing religious freedom from the English Parliament. These same people that fled the harsh conditions of England in the 1600 s later went on to write the Constitution, one might argue that the constitution was written by illegal immigrants. So why is immigrationsuch a divided issue today? Many people believe that illegal aliens are taxing on the American people, they drive up the crime rate in our cities and states, and they cause the cost of car insurance rate to increase, and keep wages low, as well as consume the majority of the resources available for low income families. But are these things really a threat to the country? As mentioned before, many people who are opposed to illegal immigration believe that illegal immigrants are taxing on the American tax payers. Taxes is a touch subject for a lot of people especially those who make millions and have to pay thousands upon thousands to the IRS. There have been numerous of actors and wealthy business people who have tried to go without paying taxes or fled to another country to try to skip out on paying taxes, but the reality is that there is no getting around it. Jon Drobnis, author of The Physics Behind Baseball, states that air flows swiftly under the ball, causing it to dive when it is thrown with curve. A curveball spins from top to bottom, opposite of a fastball, which spins from bottom to top. The ball is given curve by snapping the wrist as it is thrown (Griesmer, 2014). The air flowing under the ball is caused by the existence of air resistance. Air resistance is also called drag, and it is the forces opposing an object in motion through the air. They act opposite to the direction of the object s velocity, and they depend directly on velocity. The ball flying through the air meets the opposing force of air resistance, which causes air to flow under the ball creating low pressure, and air to flow over the top of the ball creating an area of high pressure. If the ball lacked spin, the air would simply flow around the ball, rather than over it and under it. Throwing a curveball causes the ball to deviate from the straight path of the pitcher to the catcher, and it also causes the ball to drop suddenly before it reaches the batter. As the ball is flying through the air, it deviates slightly from the straight path a fastball would normally take. • 40. Airport Construction Has A Major Effect On The Community Airport construction has a major effect on everyone involved and also the community around the airport. When an airport begins to make plans for expansion or repairs a whole list of things are researched and planned years in advance. The airport manager is responsible for overseeing the project and confirming that everything goes as planned and everyone stays safe in the process. There are multiple regulations to abide by not only from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but by the city and the Occupational Safety and Health Association (0SHA). All of these regulations are enforced to help mitigate the risk involved in airportconstruction. Airport construction is normally short term but whiles it s being performed everyone... By doing this the airport personnel has to make it right for the people living in these neighborhoods and offer them good compensation to move away from the airport. They also have to think about the businesses around there and how the economy will be effected if those around forced to move. But if the economy will benefit from the construction at the airport in the long run the homeowners and businesses will not have a choice to stay, but once again they will be takin care of. Communities that use roads and highways by airports can be burdened by airport construction because of the increased traffic from construction vehicles hauling equipment and supplies to the airport. A lot of times construction companies have to travel through neighborhoods and other main roads that causes huge headaches for the community. Airport construction also poses a short term but substantial threat to the environment with all the different jobs being done, there are a lot of different construction equipment such as cranes, dozers, excavators, concrete equipment, etc. that can cause problems with the environment. • 43. Essay on The Physics of a Toilet The Physics of a Toilet Almost everyone in America has used, is using at this very moment or will use a flushable, indoor toilet. Their privacy, and in some cases cleanliness, are taken for granted day by day. The basic physics of siphoning, and the right amount of water, makes the toilet operate in our desired fashion. This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind when witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why does the water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere creates a certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may think, these things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online howstuffworks.com, the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a higher location to a lower location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect caused by it. The function also depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet bowl at one given moment. The tank of the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of water, when all of that water is moved to the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water going down the pipe creates the siphon effect, sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for that matter, it would not be enough to create the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the mechanism and drain itself to be level with the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with the combination of water and gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential energies. Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. Water s total potential energy includes gravitational potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Clarence Thrush Point Of View The passage from from Maria Edgeworth s novel, Belinda, portrays human behavior. The passage uses literary devices in order to create depth in a character. Edgeworth uses point of view, tone, and language in order to give depth to the character Clarence Hervey. The passage follows the storyline of Clarence Hervey. However, the passage is written in third person point of view. By having the passage written in third person point of view the reader can see how the narrator feels about Clarence, but not who Clarence actually is. It is made clear that the narrator detests Clarence within the first few lines of the passage, Clarence Hervey might have been more than a pleasant young man, if he had not been smitten with the desire of being thought superior in everything, and being the most admired person in all companies. Since the passage is written in third person point of view, the reader is given a opinion of Clarence without having any prior knowledge of who Clarence is outside of what the narrator states. Although, by having the passage written in third person the reader is able to assume that Clarence will be the cause of a problem for the narrator at some point in the story. Bedouin Society Introduction The Bedouins, a nomadic people of the Middle East, are an indigenous people just as any other indigenous people around the world, striving for economical, political, and cultural autonomy. Even living in the harsh environment that the Middle East is, with the political and religious clashes between countries and even the deadly environment, which the Middle East is known for, the Bedouin people still continue to live with so much diversity surrounding them. Unfortunately since the 1970 s, the Bedouin people are in a clash with the Israeli government concerning land rights and the assimilation of the Bedouin people into the Israeli society. In addition to the idea of using produce as a form of payment, many farmers/households use their harvest to pay В‘protectors . These protectors are big factors in the Middle East region, especially with the Bedouin people, as they protect the lands and more importantly the crops of the Bedouin people from raids of other tribes. This tribute/raid relationship was a simple business proposition whereby the pastoralist received a needed product (grain) and the farmer acquired a scarce commodity (security) (Galy 44). As with most pastoral societies, such as the Bedouin peoples, the type of animals determines the division of labor of which they are herding (for example, camels). However, in order for the Bedouin people to herd their own animals, they must have claims to land, which is a strong debatable issue concerning the Bedouin people around Israel. Each Bedouin group seeks to control a land area that contains sufficient resources to sustain communal life (Galy 45). Each Bedouin group has their own distinct tract of land in a definite zone (Galy 45). This zone is well known to the surrounding Bedouin groups, as they are not to interfere with the land. However, in cases of an emergency, pastoral units are allowed to other surrounding tracts of land, even if any Bedouin group does not own them. Furthermore, since the Bedouin people migrate close to countries (such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Fruit juices are popular among consumers as they contain many vital vitamins or antioxidants. But before they go on the shelves, the factory has to produce them. One of the earliest memories of my childhood has been juice. I remember waking up at the crack of dawn early in the morning to go pick fresh apples from our apple tree in our backyard to make fresh apple juice for breakfast with my grandmother. September 11, 2001, is an infamous day that has changed the United States in numerous aspects. After this infamous day, many people live with the fear of experiencing another major attack. After the attacks the national Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, was created. One task given to the 9/11 Commission was to provide recommendations designed to prevent future attacks. In order to prevent another attack the power of securityin the United States was increased. The system did not protect against suicide bombing or hijacking. The prescreening system has since been expanded to protect against these threats by triggering a secondary screening of passengers and carry on items. The checkpoint screening technology used on September 11, 2001, received very little improvement since the 1970s; therefore, the technology was very limited in its capabilities. One goal of the TSA was and still is to correct the vulnerabilities of screening technology. Eventually, Whole Body Imaging, or WBI, machines were developed to remove the vulnerabilities of the screening process. However, WBI scanners struggle to gain acceptance by passengers because of many believe the machines invade one s privacy due to the high resolution, reveling images of the passenger. Health precautions also are factors in people s reluctance to use the machine. Many people fear that possibility of being irradiated by the x rays used by the machines. When going through airport security today, one will be given the choice of using the WBI scanner or have a pat down by a TSA officer. The 9/11 Commission called for the addressing of human factors issues at screening checkpoints. Human factors issues that need to be addressed included screener selection and training, fitness for duty, and human interaction with screening technologies.
