Cold Air Mass Lab Report
Introduction
Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to see what occurs when a warm air mass connects with a cold
one. The independent variable is the temperatures of the two sides, and the dependent variable is
the time it takes for them to start reacting. The control group is testing for the lowest amount of
minutes (zero) taken for the creation from the mixture, and the variable groups are the longer
durations of time (up to fifteen minutes).
Background Research: What happens when air masses collide? Air masses are huge quantities of
air containing specific temperatures and humidity. The way that air masses are created, are by air
forming over land or sea, and causing the air to be warm or cold (Reynolds 62). Warm air ... Show

If warm air collides with cold air, then the front will be calm, while the warm air progresses
upwards. On the other hand, if the colder air meets the warmer air, the colder air will weaken the
warmer air, and force it to form a steep rising front ( What Happens When Air Masses Collide ).
If there is a scenario in which either one of the fronts do not move when in the same area, that is
called a stationary front. A stationary front can be recognized by precipitation and clouds, too
(Brugge 94). An occluded front occurs when a cold air mass finds and merges with another cold air
mass under a warm air mass. Lastly, there is a boundary that separates dry air from moist air.
This is called the dryline. It divides the moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the desert air ( Air
Masses ). A dryline is designed as a black line with open half circles that are black (Bell 79).
When air masses form together, a war begins. The air masses tries to hustle with the other (Vogt
53). When a front is present, the weather is unpleasant ( The Science of Air Masses: What
Happens When Air Masses Collide ). Air density is much more beneficial at the surface, however it
can decrease with altitude (Desonie 16). Pressure is a big requirement for this to occur as well. The
formula for pressure is: Force over Area, or F/A ( Pressure ). There are two kinds of pressure: high
and low. High pressure are also anticyclones. These are areas that are more vast

Economic Inequality And Its Effects On Economic Growth
The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer is an aphorism elicited from the topic of economic
inequality. Over the past decades, economic inequality has been rising and at an increasing rate,
expanding the gap between the rich and the poor. The direct relationship between inequality and
poverty has shown that while inequality increases, so too does poverty. Increased inequality is
harmful for economic growth and its effects also bear social implications. Although there are
arguments on the consequences of wealth redistribution and its unintended impact on economic
growth, wealth should be redistributed to reduce inequality and poverty, sequentially leading to
more economic development and a higher standard of living for society.
Economic inequality occurs in two forms: income inequality and wealth inequality. There remains
a dispute between whether income inequality or wealth inequality should be the focus to
reducing economic inequality. Considerable attention has been given to income disparities,
however, it is important to realize that simply addressing income inequality will not adequately
address the gross disparity between the poor and the ultra rich. For example, Bill Gates is
estimated to earn around $7 billion per year (estimates vary wildly depending on how his income
is calculated). However, even if this income was taxed at 100%, Gates would still have in excess
of $70 billion in accumulated wealth. Gates could continue spending a million dollars per day,

Acid Base Balance Paper
Fluids and Electrolytes, Acid Base Balance
Fluid and electrolytes balance is defined as the process of regulating the extracellular fluid
volume, body fluid osmolality, and plasma concentrations of electrolytes (Giddens, 2013 ). Having
an excess or deficit of fluids or electrolyte can be deadly to the human body. Mr. D.H. arrived at the
hospital with an electrolyte imbalance. He had a sodium balance of 126 which normally it is 145
and a potassium balance of 5.3 which has a normal range of 3.5 to 5. His hematocrit also was at
63% showing that he was dehydrated. Mr. D.H. was in diabetic ketoacidosis and needed to be
treated to regulate the electrolytes balance and the dehydration he was suffering. Fluid is water plus
the substances dissolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. D.H. was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic Ketoacidosis can be triggered by
stress or infection. In this case the tooth infection probably caused the DK. There are several other
electrolytes that are affected by DKA. One electrolyte that is most affected by DKA is potassium.
Potassium levels are usually high due to acidosis. Acidosis causes the potassium to shift from the
cells into the extracellular fluids (Giddens, 2013). Acidosis causes hydrogen ions to diffuse from
the blood into the interstitial fluid because there is an excess of hydrogen ions in the blood.
When they diffuse they push the potassium ions out of the cell (Van Meter, 2013). Sodium is
also affected greatly by DKA. Sodium levels are lower because of the movement of water from
the intracellular space to the extracellular space. This is due to hyperglycemia, the body tries to get
rid of the excess glucose through urination (Van Meter , 2013). When sodium is lowered or
depleted it causes impaired nerve conduction, fatigue, muscle cramps, and abdominal cramps (Van
Meter, 2013). This would explain the patient s nausea and

Research Paper On The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier
I m going to talk about the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. I am
also going to talk about the change of the guard.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery is on a hill that looks over
Washington,D.C. On March 4, 1921, Congress approved the burial of an unknown American
soldier from World War Iin the plaza of the new Memorial Amphitheater. The white marble tomb
has a flat faced form and is relieved at the corners and along the sides by neo classic0 columns,
set into the surface. Sculpted into the east panel which faces Washington, D.C., are three Greek
figures representing Peace, Victory, and Valor. The six wreaths, three sculpted on each side,
represent the six major campaigns of World War I. Written on the back of the Tomb are the words:
Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.
The Tomb was placed above the grave of the Unknown Soldier of World War I. West of the World
War I Unknown are the crypts of unknowns from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Those three
graves are marked with white marble slabs.
The Unknown Soldier lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda from his arrival in the United States until
Armistice Day, 1921. On Nov. 11, 1921, President Warren G. Harding officiated at the interment
ceremonies at the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery.

Tom Cant Character Analysis
Tom Canty was a poverty stricken young boy, who grew up in a somewhat immoral family.
Despite this, Tom developed himself sticking to good morals, as he displayed throughout the
story. For example, Tom displayed his perseverance in rarely complaining throughout his rough
life. Furthermore, growing up poorly, he was often considerate of others, as he understood their
troubles. Lastly, although he lived the life of a beggar, Tom was an honest young man. Tom
Canty, a young pauper boy, despite growing up in a rather destitute neighborhood, lead a good
moral youth, and displayed the virtues of perseverance, compassion, and integrity. Since he had
been raised in a poor environment, Tom grew to be a perseverant boy who tried his best despite
difficulty. Whenever Tom came home without earning any money from begging, he would be
beaten by both his father and grandmother, and sent to bed without dinner. Despite this, Tom did
not think of his life as particularly disagreeable, and enjoyed thinking of himself as a prince. His
wonderful fantasies of princehood comforted Tom whenever he was particularly down, and
encouraged him to be optimistic about the future. Thus, Tom... Show more content on

One of Tom s closest influences, his father, was a drunkard and a thief. Despite this, Tom refused
to become a thief, and despised his cruel father. Instead, he followed the good example of Father
Andrew, who taught him to read and write. Subsequently, when mistaken for the prince, Tom
denied this identity, to the point where everyone in the castle believed he had gone insane.
Eventually, after the true prince, Edward, had made his way back to the castle, Tom wasted no
time in letting everyone know that Edward was the rightful heir to the throne. In these ways, Tom
Canty displayed his unwavering probity, in spite of his father s bad influence during Tom s

The Consequences Of Ritalin
Many individuals are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Ritalin is a medication that is prescribed after diagnosis to offset
its symptoms. As with most drugs, Ritalin has side effects, some of which are commonly associated
with most pharmaceutical drugs but much more severe. Ritalin is a central Nervous system
stimulant that affects ones central nervous system which controls cognition, thought processes and
even regular breathing. Ritalin should be reconsidered as a remedy to either ADD or ADHD as the
consequences of this medication can evolve into illegal drug use outside of what are common side
effects. Drugs such as Ritalin produce successful outcomes for many patients but

Analysis Of Snow Falling On Cedars
In Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson Kabuo Miyamoto is being charged with the
murder of a local fisherman. This novel starts with Kabuo s trial, The accused man, Kabuo
Miyamoto, sat proudly upright with a rigid grace, his palms placed softly on the defendant s
table the posture of a man who has detached himself insofar as this is possible at his own trial
(3). The use of the word proudly makes me already believe that Kabuo is the one to blame for
the murder because he is sitting up straight which shows confidence. Kabuo holds an
emotionless expression which makes me think of a killer because they usually would not hold
any guilt in their face. Putting myself in Kabuo s position and I realized that he is a very strong
man because he had to keep himself emotionless and if that were me, I would have been terrified
to be there especially since during that time period Japanese people were being discriminated. The
use of the word accused is used again to describe Kabuo, The accusedman, Kabuo Miyamoto,
leaned to his right... (28). The author uses the word accused to let us know that Kabuo might be
the killer or he might not be. This helps us to not be biased when we read all of the evidence that
shows he is guilty. Hatsue and Ishmael were in loveuntil she realized they could never truly be
together because of their differences He himself was always in need of words, even when he
couldn t quite muster them, but she seemed capable of a brand of silence he couldn t feel

Ren has been rendered into English in various ways such as: benevolence, man to manness, perfect
virtue, human heartedness, and, as in our textbook, humanity. It has been regarded as the defining
virtue of a junzi/gentlemen and the ultimate commitment in Confucius thought. However,
Confucius never intends to offer a formal definition of ren; instead, he gives only various answers
to questions about ren in different circumstances for students with different temperaments and with
varying degrees of understanding.
f. yi (in the Analects) Yi is another important virtue through which ren is cultivated. Confucius
stresses yi as necessary for developing ren.
Unlike li as external rituals and rules of propriety, yi is internal virtue, a moral disposition to do
what is right and an ability to recognize what is right; yi functions like a kind of moral sense or
intuition regarding action. Like Kant s conception of good will and duty, what is according to yi
unconditional and absolute; some actions must be performed only because they are right, and not
because of what they produce. On the other hand, unlike Kant, yi is not something that has nothing
to do with inclination, disposition or intuition.
As far as the relation between yi and li is concerned, cultivating yi is carried out through observing
li. The superior person regards righteousness (yi) as the substance of everything.

Inequality In Australia
Distribution of Income Economic journalist Chelsea Gwynne investigates Australia s distribution of
income and its impact on the overall standard of living. Income distribution sits at the top of the
political agenda as Inequality between those with the most and those with the least wealth in
Australia is on the rise. Despite consistent public support for reducing inequality in the distribution
of income, the government is seeking to reduce income support. In fact, in recent months the
Liberal government has begun to argue that inequality is not just unavoidable, but also beneficial.
Rather than use the welfare system to redistribute income, the government is seeking to ensure that
welfare payments grow at a significantly slower rate than wages... Show more content on

Thus inequality may have a generally slowing effect on economic growth (Holmes, 2014). A
number of economists have argued that inequality leads to economic instability. One mechanism by
which this happens is that the rich consume a smaller proportion of their income than the poor.
They save money, which people on lower incomes would spend. This leads to a reduction in
aggregate demand, which in turn leads to unemployment (Holmes, 2014). In response, governments
take measures to stimulate demand, such as lowering interest rates. This feeds into asset bubbles
for example, unsustainably high housing prices (OANDA,

Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness
According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which
the units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination
with another term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110).
For example, we know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad
(Bressler, 111). Joseph Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary oppositionof light/dark within
The Picture of Dorian Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by
contrasting a superior concept with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a
major role in displaying class differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the
East End, or the lower class part of London, while the West End is described as wealthy and
cultured. For example, as Dorian travels through the East End, the chapter begins with, A cold
rain began to fall, and the blurred street lamps looked ghastly in the dripping mist (Wilde, 176).
Further, Wilde uses more dark images to create the scene of the East End. He states, The moon
hung low in the sky like a yellow skull... the gas lamps grew fewer, and the streets more narrow
and gloomy (Wilde, 177). The description of the East End strongly opposes the description of the

The Importance Of British Imperialism In Britain
The British empire, as well as many others, were diminishing, during the post war era. The focus of
this essay is to answer the question debating the relevance of British imperialism on immigrants
who enter the United Kingdom during the post war period. In summary, the answer that will be
provided is that imperialism was the main contributor to pulling people towards Britain, yet it was
not the only one. On the other hand, the imperial status had no relevance on all the immigrants, and
this also will be discussed. Between the years of 1948 and 1962, it has been estimated that 500,000

This was the ship that transported passengers from Commonwealth countries to Britain. The
passengers on board the Empire Windrush were predominately Jamaicans; but there were other

docking of the Empire Windrush was a watershed moment, as Kushner explains that, on one side
was the empires end, while on the other was a revision of what British meant. The age of the
empire was when those living in Britain embarked on gaining territories for economic and prestige
reasons, spreading civilisation. However, since the end of the Second World War, colonies were
demanding independence, yet, for some who gained this independence, they still wanted some
sense of British influence. This was the beginning of the British Commonwealth. As the Phillips
brothers point out, however, prior to the Windrush arriving in Britain in 1947, there was a black
population able to trace their lineage back a few centuries. Additionally, during the Second World
War, about ten thousand West Indian men arrived in Britain, which was more than the entire pre
war black population. Hence, Britain was not new to having a black population, the problem was
the numbers of this population was increasing uncontrollably. Many of these passengers from the
Commonwealth came to Britain because of its imperial importance on their countries.

Essay On Arranged Marriage
In the year of 2016, 26,250,000 arranged marriages occurred annually worldwide. In another
perspective, 52.25% of marriages were arranged as of 2016 ( Arranged/Forced ). Arrange marriage
has many customs and traditions, and requirements for the future bride or groom.Refusal to this
type of marriage can cause many problems on sides of the family and child. These requirements
and consequences of refusal can be shown in the short story Marriageis a Private Affair by Chinua

Arranged marriages are highly common but yet many people do not know the customs and
traditions of arranged marriage. In arranged marriages, parents choose their son or daughter s
future spouse with only a little input from the soon to be newly weds. If either the son or daughter
refuses the choice, the parents tend to respect their wishes and will find someone else ( Traditional

...the consequences for both men and women were they would be considered a burden to their
family and if the parents went to extreme measures then the child could be disowned, beaten, or
even be given the death penalty ( Consequences ). Additionally, in arranging the girl and boy have

that does not follow these requirements is seen as an unfit match. Advantages of arranged marriage

Examples Of Propaganda In The Aeneid
The Aeneid: A Political Propaganda
Introduction
Political propaganda has dominated most of literature works. Various literature books contain half
truths or blatant false stories that are meant to serve the interest of some nations, communities,
emperors, kingdoms, and religious beliefs. The misinformed approach in literature books seeks to
persuade, influence, or manipulate readers using information that is specifically defined and
disseminated for this purpose. As a medium of communication, leaders have used literature works
over the years to brainwash, deceive, persuade, and enhance certain euphoria on people. Propaganda
is packaged in a strategic way that makes it difficult for people to distinguish the thin line between

Scully and Fletcher (1987) reveal various episodes of death that are depicted in a simple manner
that appeals to all readers. Since people are ignorant of complex messages and/or will only pay
simple attention to written information, Virgilfully exploits this aspect while talking about death.
For instance, he says, At Dido s head she came to rest...And out into the winds her life withdrew
(Virgil, 2008, p. 971). Death is feared by all people. In fact, the mention of death causes alarm and
attention. Virgil exploits the simplest way of awakening and pulling the attention and
concentration of readers by depicting death in a simple way. For example, leaders that are
involved in various wars before their deaths have a secluded magnificent place in the underworld as
seen in Aeneas words, there are souls that go from here...Aloft to upper heaven (Virgil, 2008, p.
965). This move enhances the war propaganda that leaders can kill their opponents whilst being
honored by gods. Death is painted in a way that warrants no attention of the reader. According to
Heiny (2013), Virgil also emphasizes reincarnation that people will live again after death. This
propaganda on death as not being eternal further simplifies the idea of death. The propaganda is
meant to prepare Romans to volunteer in war to channel their energies and life to defending the
opponents of their kingdom as seen in Jupiter s words, What privilege for these, your
ships...Shall hulls that mortal hands have made enjoy a right...That only immortals have (Virgil,
2008, pp. 132 135). People are also persuaded to be good to their families, neighbors, and other
citizens in order to have a good place in the underworld and/or during rebirth. Jupiter says, Every
man s last day is fixed. Lifetimes are brief, and not to be regained (Virgil, 2008, p. 650). This
propaganda spreads peace within the kingdom whilst equipping people with information that is

Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and...
Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and Beowulf
In Paradise Lost, Milton is adept at drawing from both Christian and pagan sources and integrating
them in such a way that they reinforce one another (Abrams 1075). Of course it is a commonplace
for critics to believe that Milton valued his Christian sources more highly than the pagan ones
(Martindale 20); this is most likely due to the fact that he regarded the Christian sources as vessels
of the truth. His classical allusions, on the other hand, served as references for things fallen or
damned. Thus, as seen in the invocation to Book 7 ( Descend from heav n Urania, by that name
/ If rightly thou art called [7.1 2]) wherein Milton places his muse Urania, the Greek ... Show more

Thus, I agree with John D. Niles that if this poem can be attributed to a Christian author composing
not earlier than the first half of the tenth century...then there is little reason to read it as a survival
from the heathen age that came to be marred by monkish interpolations (137). Just as the Beowulf
poet s contemporary audience was thrown into a schizophrenic state by the pull of a pagan past
against the new teachings of Christianity, the poet himself was put to task to successfully blend
these religious ideologies in a complex yet effective plot that appealed to his audience precisely
because they were attempting to reconcile their own beliefs.
Although Beowulf most likely began as such a pagan epic, it eventually was expanded to include
Christian elements, whereas Paradise Lost is definitely a Christian tale that uses classical allusions
to remain connected to the epic tradition. In both tales, pagan or classical allusions, in contrast to
Christian allusions, are used in reference to that which is fallen or damned. Yet I must be careful
not to imply that Milton was using the Beowulf manuscript as a source because the manuscript was
not available in England until 1815; therefore, Milton could not have been aware of it during the

The theme of love connection between people is a very important part of life. I choose this theme
as it is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose
were: the fictional novel Delirium , by Lauren Oliver, the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift, song
Same Love by Macklemore and fictional novel Girl Online , by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong
connection of love between two people in all of these texts.
The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This novel discusses
the connection of love. Love is the main theme of this novel. The main character ... Show more

This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and
discusses equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to
write this song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word
in society and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry,
and help change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of
stereotypes all in my head this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t
alright to be gay, when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted
about their sexuality. This song discusses how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the
lyrics; If I was gay I would think hip hop hates me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately,
Man that s gay Gets dropped on the daily, We ve become so numb to what we re sayin These
examples show the connection of love, but in a different way to what we would usually expect.
This song has a different view on the connection of love compared to other books with the theme
of love, as it is about homosexuality rather than heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what
Macklemore is trying to convey is very smart, and I believe that there should be equality on who
you love. I also thing that the words such as gay shouldn t be used with such negative connotations,
and I m sure many others in our society would

To live a long happy life, I must make some changes to my lifestyle. The first change that I would
like to implement would be to make a meal plan for the week so that I eat healthy food that is
already prepared instead of snacking on whatever is available. This should help me eat a more
balanced diet, by cutting out carbs/sugars and fat while eating more protein. I would also like to
plan to eat four to five times per day instead of eating twice and snacking to fill myself up in

I also would like to increase my level of physical activity. Firstly, I would like to start going to
the gym 2 to 3 times per week, prioritizing cardio to burn fat and lift weights to build muscle. In
addition, I would like to make little changes like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or

The Treaty Of The Versailles Treaty
What responsibility did each of the Big Three have for the failure of the Versailles Treaty to
bring peace to Europe? Be sure to discuss what each wanted to accomplish. The treaty of the
Versailles was an agreement between France, England and the United states. Its intentions were
to prevent a second world war however, it was a total fail. An obvious reason for not being
effective could be because not everyone was included in the conference such as Russia, and
Central Powers. Instead, Prime minister George Clemenceau had thought he would speak for all
of europe and wanted to be the strongest of europe. Clemenceau seeked revenge towards Germany,
in fact he desired most dismantle the best of Germany s military and their nationalist pride. As for
the United States, Wilson implemented the fourteen points which focused on self determination of
people. Only few of his points were included in the treaty but these points had been the reason for
conflicts happening in europe. Participation from everyone is important and not allowing everyone
s input could lead to negative outcomes such as, The league of nations which most likely failed
because the United States wasn t allowed to participate. Why was the territory of the Ottoman
Empire divided into mandates while the territory of the Austro Hungarian Empire was divided into
Nation states? Mandates had only applied in the Middle East and were the cause to several
conflicts. The mandates allowed imposition of the French and British

The American alligator population is continued to diminish today. They are mainly threatened

Although it has not always been recognized as management, management has been around since the
beginning of human kind. Management functions can even be seen in the Bible. In the book of
Daniel, Daniel is seen using the four management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and
controlling.
Planning
Through careful planning, Daniel was given permission to not defile himself with the portion of
the king s meat, nor with his wine. Daniel, a man of the Lord, had purposed in his heart to obey
the Lord. He knew that if he ate of the king s meat, and drank of the king s wine that the Lord
would not be pleased. Daniel made a request to the prince of the eunuchs to be excused from eating

According to NPR writer Michaeleen Doucleff, fruit bat and antelope meat are believed to be

Round Characters
The characters are a pivotal part of a narrative because they provide a personification of the beliefs
being described (More, 2009, p.349). There are two different types of characters within a narrative:
round and flat. Literary devices states, that round characters are major characters in a story, who
encounter contradictory situations, and undergo transformation during this phase. Therefore, these
characters do not remain the same throughout the narrative. In contrast, a flat characteris a type of
character in fictionthat does not change too much from the start of the narrative to its end (Literary

Female Roles In Crime And Punishment Essay
Female roles In Crime And Punishment Love resurrected them; the heart of one contained infinite

of the novel. In the beginning, the first female character you see is Alyona, an elderly pawnbroker.
Alyona is the reason for the murderand the brutality that was put into the murder. Alyona is
murdered because she cheats others less fortunate than her; she also abuses poor and helpless
Lizaveta. This can been seen when Raskolnikov hears the student say that She was a complete

Food Wasting In America Essay
When I was little I was never able to finish my food, and my mom would always tell me that I

overstocking their produce, misconceptions with the due date, and business. Many businesses waste

produce to have appeal to the buyers. Delaney Zayac gives us an example that if he would have

Compare And Contrast Christopher Columbus And John Smith
Christopher Columbus and John Smith are both similar in the fact that they made their kin very
proud and became famous of their accounts of unexplored territory. Though their ideas of what to
do with what they encountered was different, they both were very brave men. They were different
in a way though. Columbus believed that there was a great value in terms of wealth to the natural
resources he saw on the islands and he used a different rhetoric to explain it. John Smith saw
economic growth possibilities in the fertile New England area that had a vast amount of natural
resources, he also valued different commodities than Columbus.
Christopher Columbus s description of the natural resources that he finds was actually quite similar
to John Smith s. Columbus s idea was different from Smith s though, he thought that these natural
resources were much more valuable in terms of wealth. When Columbus saw the beautiful stretches
of land that America had to offer he was excited of the riches that it will bring him and his mother
country Spain. Columbus believed that there was gold to be found in America and that America
stretched bigger than England. John Smith encountered natural resources like crops and fish in
New England, For hunting also: the woods, lakes and rivers afford not only chase sufficient, for

The Effects Of Lead On Human Population
The effects of lead in the human population have been an issue since the early civilizations
because lead was found in almost every item used for eating and cooking. In the 1950 s, houses
were built and the first choice for plumbing pipes was made of lead. The paint used to cover the
interiors was lead based. Children s toys were also coated with lead based paint. Nowadays, lead
can still be found in some glassware; however, the government has banned the use of lead in the
rest. Lead can be introduced into the body through inhalation or skin contact. However, ingestion of
lead is the most common way of it being transported into the body. There are a few symptoms that
are caused by lead poisoning in the gastrointestinal tract: stomachpain, weight loss, decreased
appetite, constipation, diarrhea, unusual taste in the mouth, and a blue line around the gum line.
The two problems that occur with these symptoms are that they can be misconstrued as symptoms
for other diseases, such as appendicitis. These symptoms occur only when lead is at high
concentration in the body. Being the foremost pathway for intake, absorption in very dependent on
the gastrointestinal lumen environment, amount of iron in storage, and age (Rabinowitz, 1980).
These variables can either increase or decrease the absorption of lead. The gastrointestinal tract is

Three Phase Change Model and Communication Communication is truly the most central
component to Lewin s model. It is highlighted at each of the three phases, with lack of
communication being a barrier to successfully transitioning between phases. That said, it must not
be discounted the impact that strong lines of communication have on successful change initiatives,
as high percentages of change failures are often attributed to poor communication, thus hindering
the transition process (Shin et al., 2012, p. 727).
Harris s Five Phase Model Ben Harris developed a five phase organizational change model in the
mid 1970 s. According to Harris, the phases are sequential; however, they often overlap one another

Five Phase Model: Role of the Leader Unlike Lewin s three phase model, Harris s model is less
dependent upon concrete leadership initiatives at each phase. For example, per the five phase

acknowledged the importance of leadership at various phases of program implementation
(Lunenburg, 2010, p. 5). During planning and initiation,

The Equal Opportunity Within A Work Place, The Pregnancy...
Introduction
Before we dive into this topic of human resources, let s define it. Human Resource can be defined
as the division of the company that is focused on activities relating to employees. These activities
normally include recruiting and hiring new employees, orientation and training current employees,
employee benefits, and retention. Throughout this paper I will discuss the Equal Opportunity
within a work place, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Privacy Polices within a work place, and
Sexual Harassment within a workplace.
Equal Opportunity Laws
Title VII
The first aspect of Human Resource that will be addressed is equal opportunity and the laws
that provide for it. There were several equal opportunity laws enacted from 1964 to 1991. The
first of these was Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which states that an employer cannot
discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national original with respect to
employment (Dessler, 2013). Title VII applies to employers with 15 or more employees, including
state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and to labor organizations, as
well as to the federal government.
Title VII also prohibits employment decisions based on stereotypes and assumptions about abilities,
traits, or the performance of individuals of certain racial groups. According to Society for Human
Resource Management, it states that, possible criminal practices include soliciting applications only

Marco Polo Research Paper
Some kids just go to the pool in the summer to play a game of Marco Polo. Andie Ryan Round
was not one of those kids. The pool was a place of great triumph, as well as defeat, to the now 19
year old Pepperdine sophomore at least it used to be. The echoes of a cheering crowd in the
chlorine filled air are now a distant memory. Attempting to find herself while also battling anxiety
and depression, and nearly losing her mother to breast cancer allowed Round to rekindle her
relationship with God and become the woman that she is today. When she was about 3 months old,
Round s father put her in a pool, leaving her with the option to either sink or swim. It was from this
point on that Andie found her home in the pool. From the age of... Show more content on

On top of that, she had just been diagnosed with cancer, Round recounts. Fortunately, her mother
s doctors were able to successfully remove all signs of cancer from her breast tissue. Through it
all, Round has been able to rely on God as a source of comfort and support through trying times.
After much soul searching, Round came to terms with all the hardships she s faced after
spending a month at Kanakuk, a Christian sports camp in Branson, MO. I feel like a lot of
people believe that you can kind of pray depression away. I don t believe that. I believe that a
beautiful gift He gave us is the brains of brilliant doctors that can make these medicines that will
help me, Round explains. According to boyfriend Ethan Eldridge, sophomore film studies major at
Loyola University in Chicago, IL, Round has only become more mature, optimistic, intelligent,
strong, creative, and loving since the two met in April of 2014. I have known Andie for about 10
years now, and for the first time since we reconnected freshman year of college, I saw God through
her and realized how incredible she is, states Anna Reikhof, former teammate and sophomore sports

Hawthorne Ticsche s Injustice
Hawthorne Tische was an enigma. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, the only child of a
newspaper magnate, and socialite ex fashion model, he d had it all. A privileged upbringing,
wealth, access to the best eduction, and expected to inherit his family s business interest, along
with their fortune. However, Hawthorne Ticsche had disappeared at eighteen years of age.
Rumour had it that the teenage boy had been accused of a crime so heinous, and so damaging to
the Tische reputation, that he d been summarily packed off to College in New York, as far away
as from Seattle as you get whilst remaining in the same country, and later ex communicated from
the Hawthorne Family. True, or not, and no one new for sure except for those close to him,... Show

At it s peak it had been the place for wealth and privileged, and it could be again. On the first
count, the analysts had been correct. Within weeks of his arrival, the residence had taken upon a
fresh coat of paint, the lawns manicured, gardens tended, half mile long driveway freshly paved, six
foot high security fence erected around the perimeter, and the interior gutted and rebuilt. However,
as time continued to pass, there was no advertising, no marketing, no publicity, or no opening date.
Hawthorne had been amused by each article he had read, as they moved from confidence of his
plans, to querulous, then scepticism, and finally, downright confusion. The young Tische, was the
only one who knew that the Manor would be opening again, however not as a hotel. His business
would be much more lucrative, and entry by invitation

  • 2. Cold Air Mass Lab Report Introduction Statement of Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to see what occurs when a warm air mass connects with a cold one. The independent variable is the temperatures of the two sides, and the dependent variable is the time it takes for them to start reacting. The control group is testing for the lowest amount of minutes (zero) taken for the creation from the mixture, and the variable groups are the longer durations of time (up to fifteen minutes). Background Research: What happens when air masses collide? Air masses are huge quantities of air containing specific temperatures and humidity. The way that air masses are created, are by air forming over land or sea, and causing the air to be warm or cold (Reynolds 62). Warm air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If warm air collides with cold air, then the front will be calm, while the warm air progresses upwards. On the other hand, if the colder air meets the warmer air, the colder air will weaken the warmer air, and force it to form a steep rising front ( What Happens When Air Masses Collide ). If there is a scenario in which either one of the fronts do not move when in the same area, that is called a stationary front. A stationary front can be recognized by precipitation and clouds, too (Brugge 94). An occluded front occurs when a cold air mass finds and merges with another cold air mass under a warm air mass. Lastly, there is a boundary that separates dry air from moist air. This is called the dryline. It divides the moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the desert air ( Air Masses ). A dryline is designed as a black line with open half circles that are black (Bell 79). When air masses form together, a war begins. The air masses tries to hustle with the other (Vogt 53). When a front is present, the weather is unpleasant ( The Science of Air Masses: What Happens When Air Masses Collide ). Air density is much more beneficial at the surface, however it can decrease with altitude (Desonie 16). Pressure is a big requirement for this to occur as well. • 3. Economic Inequality And Its Effects On Economic Growth The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer is an aphorism elicited from the topic of economic inequality. Over the past decades, economic inequality has been rising and at an increasing rate, expanding the gap between the rich and the poor. The direct relationship between inequality and poverty has shown that while inequality increases, so too does poverty. Increased inequality is harmful for economic growth and its effects also bear social implications. Although there are arguments on the consequences of wealth redistribution and its unintended impact on economic growth, wealth should be redistributed to reduce inequality and poverty, sequentially leading to more economic development and a higher standard of living for society. Economic inequality occurs in two forms: income inequality and wealth inequality. There remains a dispute between whether income inequality or wealth inequality should be the focus to reducing economic inequality. Considerable attention has been given to income disparities, however, it is important to realize that simply addressing income inequality will not adequately address the gross disparity between the poor and the ultra rich. For example, Bill Gates is estimated to earn around $7 billion per year (estimates vary wildly depending on how his income is calculated). However, even if this income was taxed at 100%, Gates would still have in excess of $70 billion in accumulated wealth. Gates could continue spending a million dollars per day, ... In this case the tooth infection probably caused the DK. There are several other electrolytes that are affected by DKA. One electrolyte that is most affected by DKA is potassium. Potassium levels are usually high due to acidosis. Acidosis causes the potassium to shift from the cells into the extracellular fluids (Giddens, 2013). Acidosis causes hydrogen ions to diffuse from the blood into the interstitial fluid because there is an excess of hydrogen ions in the blood. When they diffuse they push the potassium ions out of the cell (Van Meter, 2013). Sodium is also affected greatly by DKA. Sodium levels are lower because of the movement of water from the intracellular space to the extracellular space. This is due to hyperglycemia, the body tries to get rid of the excess glucose through urination (Van Meter , 2013). When sodium is lowered or depleted it causes impaired nerve conduction, fatigue, muscle cramps, and abdominal cramps (Van Meter, 2013). This would explain the patient s nausea and ... • 8. Analysis Of Snow Falling On Cedars In Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson Kabuo Miyamoto is being charged with the murder of a local fisherman. This novel starts with Kabuo s trial, The accused man, Kabuo Miyamoto, sat proudly upright with a rigid grace, his palms placed softly on the defendant s table the posture of a man who has detached himself insofar as this is possible at his own trial (3). The use of the word proudly makes me already believe that Kabuo is the one to blame for the murder because he is sitting up straight which shows confidence. Kabuo holds an emotionless expression which makes me think of a killer because they usually would not hold any guilt in their face. Putting myself in Kabuo s position and I realized that he is a very strong man because he had to keep himself emotionless and if that were me, I would have been terrified to be there especially since during that time period Japanese people were being discriminated. The use of the word accused is used again to describe Kabuo, The accusedman, Kabuo Miyamoto, leaned to his right... (28). The author uses the word accused to let us know that Kabuo might be the killer or he might not be. This helps us to not be biased when we read all of the evidence that shows he is guilty. Like Kant s conception of good will and duty, what is according to yi unconditional and absolute; some actions must be performed only because they are right, and not because of what they produce. On the other hand, unlike Kant, yi is not something that has nothing to do with inclination, disposition or intuition. Despite consistent public support for reducing inequality in the distribution of income, the government is seeking to reduce income support. A number of economists have argued that inequality leads to economic instability. One mechanism by which this happens is that the rich consume a smaller proportion of their income than the poor. They save money, which people on lower incomes would spend. This leads to a reduction in aggregate demand, which in turn leads to unemployment (Holmes, 2014). In response, governments take measures to stimulate demand, such as lowering interest rates. This feeds into asset bubbles for example, unsustainably high housing prices (OANDA, ... • 12. Comparing Dorian Gray And Heart Of Darkness According to principles explained by Jacques Derrida, binary opposition is the means by which the units of language have value or meaning; each unit is defined in reciprocal determination with another term. Derrida adds that, for each center, an opposing center exists (Bressler, 110). For example, we know truth, because we know deception; we know good because we know bad (Bressler, 111). Joseph Conrad and Oscar Wilde s use of the binary oppositionof light/dark within The Picture of Dorian Gray and Heart of Darkness establishes both racial and class tension by contrasting a superior concept with its inferior. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, setting plays a major role in displaying class differences within the novel. Darker imagery is used to portray the East End, or the lower class part of London, while the West End is described as wealthy and cultured. For example, as Dorian travels through the East End, the chapter begins with, A cold rain began to fall, and the blurred street lamps looked ghastly in the dripping mist (Wilde, 176). Further, Wilde uses more dark images to create the scene of the East End. Scully and Fletcher (1987) reveal various episodes of death that are depicted in a simple manner that appeals to all readers. Since people are ignorant of complex messages and/or will only pay simple attention to written information, Virgilfully exploits this aspect while talking about death. For instance, he says, At Dido s head she came to rest...And out into the winds her life withdrew (Virgil, 2008, p. 971). Death is feared by all people. In fact, the mention of death causes alarm and attention. Virgil exploits the simplest way of awakening and pulling the attention and concentration of readers by depicting death in a simple way. For example, leaders that are involved in various wars before their deaths have a secluded magnificent place in the underworld as seen in Aeneas words, there are souls that go from here...Aloft to upper heaven (Virgil, 2008, p. 965). This move enhances the war propaganda that leaders can kill their opponents whilst being honored by gods. Death is painted in a way that warrants no attention of the reader. According to Heiny (2013), Virgil also emphasizes reincarnation that people will live again after death. This propaganda on death as not being eternal further simplifies the idea of death. The propaganda is meant to prepare Romans to volunteer in war to channel their energies and life to defending the opponents of their kingdom as seen in Jupiter s words, What privilege for these, your ships...Shall hulls that mortal hands have made enjoy a right...That only immortals have (Virgil, 2008, pp. 132 135). People are also persuaded to be good to their families, neighbors, and other citizens in order to have a good place in the underworld and/or during rebirth. Christian and Pagan Influence in Paradise Lost and Beowulf In Paradise Lost, Milton is adept at drawing from both Christian and pagan sources and integrating them in such a way that they reinforce one another (Abrams 1075). Of course it is a commonplace for critics to believe that Milton valued his Christian sources more highly than the pagan ones (Martindale 20); this is most likely due to the fact that he regarded the Christian sources as vessels of the truth. His classical allusions, on the other hand, served as references for things fallen or damned. Niles that if this poem can be attributed to a Christian author composing not earlier than the first half of the tenth century...then there is little reason to read it as a survival from the heathen age that came to be marred by monkish interpolations (137). Just as the Beowulf poet s contemporary audience was thrown into a schizophrenic state by the pull of a pagan past against the new teachings of Christianity, the poet himself was put to task to successfully blend these religious ideologies in a complex yet effective plot that appealed to his audience precisely because they were attempting to reconcile their own beliefs. Although Beowulf most likely began as such a pagan epic, it eventually was expanded to include Christian elements, whereas Paradise Lost is definitely a Christian tale that uses classical allusions to remain connected to the epic tradition. In both tales, pagan or classical allusions, in contrast to Christian allusions, are used in reference to that which is fallen or damned. Macklemore was driven to write this song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word in society and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry, and help change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of stereotypes all in my head this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t alright to be gay, when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted about their sexuality.
