Contribution Of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born on February 17, 1807 in Portland, Maine (Novelist and
Prose Writers). He died at the age of 75 in 1882 after suffering from severe stomach pain. He was
buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts along with his wives. His family
was very influential in the region. His father was a prominent lawyer. His maternal grandfather,
Peleg Wadsworth, held the position of general in the American Revolutionary War and also served
as a member of Congress (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow). Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the most
popular poet in America, shaped his poetry to encourage virtues and to live life happily without
giving up on any situation that life brings. Longfellow attended Bowdoin Collegein Brunswick,
Maine (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow). He graduated college in 1825 and was ranked fourth in
his class (Adnax Publications). He was invited to accept the new Chair of Modern Languages,
and he taught at Bowdoin College and Harvard. While teaching at the colleges, he translated
many textbooks in French, Italian, and Spanish. He knew dozens of languages. He visited Spain,
Italy, France, Germany, and England as his additional three years of study from Bowdoin
College. He walked through the countryside and stayed at small inns. In 1834 he was appointed
professor at Harvard and once again made it to visit Europe (Adnax Publications). His first wife,
Mary Potter, accompanied him to Rotterdam. She had a miscarriage and died.

Miles Davis, Miles. Davis
Biography of Miles Davis
Miles Dewey Davis the Third was a musician; composer; genius. Davis wrote a large portion of
the music he played and he did not care what people thought about his music. Do not fear
mistakes, there are none. (Miles Davis 29). The amount of skill Davis must have had to keep on
creating new, original, different music is far beyond many people. Davis is one of the main
contributing factors to change jazz. He, alone, has made his own style, the Cool Jazz genre (Karl
Scarborough 26). Davis is surely one of the reasons I believe jazz is here to stay for a long time,
and Davis thought so too. In Davis life, he has done many great things and experienced some
good things as well as some bad things. Davis is a man whom, one might say, has seen in all. Even
his childhood was different than most people born in the 20s and 30s.
Davis was born the 26th of May, 1926 in Alton Illinois (John Szwed 13). Davis has one sister,
Dorothy Davis, and one brother, Vernon Davis. Davis father is Miles Dewey Davis the Second.
Davis mother is Cleota Henry Davis. Davis married Betty Davis and had four children, three
sons and one daughter. Miles Dewey Davis the Fourth, Gregory Davis, Erin Davis and Cheryl
Davis (Quincy Troupe 9). Davis did not have the best relationship with his mother (Jack Chambers
25). They both liked to control things which they could not do at the same time (John Szwed 13).
Although Da vis was controlling, he was also shy as a child (John Szwed

Tutankhamun Masks
1. The mask of Tutankhamun ( )
This mask of Tutankhamun is an example of the highest artistic and technical achievements of
the ancient Egyptians in the New Kingdom. Covering the head of the wrapped mummy in its
coffin, the mask ensured more protection for the king s body. The exact portrayal of the king s
facial features achieved here made it possible for his soul to recognize him and return to his
mummified body, thus ensuring his resurrection. The head is covered by the royal headdress and
the forehead bears the emblems of kingship and protection: the vulture and uraeus, or cobra. The
gold sheets used in this wonderful mask are joined together by heating and hammering. The eyes
are of obsidian and quartz and the eyebrows and eyelids are ... Show more content on

The royal mummy of Tutankhamun was found inside this coffin. In all three of the coffins,
Tutankhamun was represented identically with the nemes headdress and the ceremonial beard,
folding his arms as his hands grasp the insignia of royal power the heqa scepter in the left and the
nekhakha flail in the right. From Tutankhamun s forehead a cobra and a vulture stand out, emblems
of Wadjet and Nekhbet, the two tutelary deities of Lower and Upper Egypt. Although Tutankhamun
s two innermost sarcophagi are displayed in the exhibition, the outermost one still holds the
mummy of Tutankhamun and resides in his tomb in the valley of the kings.
5. Tutankhamun s Royal Thrones ( )
Along with his other furniture, Tutankhamun s tomb included two of his royal thrones into his
tomb, to simulate that he was the ruler of Egypt and that no pharaoh will ever truly be better than
him. It has multiple gods on it, who appear to be serving Tutankhamun meals or giving him royal
gifts.
6. Composite Udjat Eye Pectoral ( )
In this pectoral, which was found in a layer of wrapping, the eye is flanked by the cobra goddess,

Arthur Miller s Essay Tragedy And The Common Man
In Arthur Miller s essay, Tragedy and the Common Man, Miller in fact is right about his thesis.
He believes that the common man can experience tragedy. The character who experiences the
tragedy, challenges authority; regardless if they are the common man, or a person with power.
Secondly, tragedy can be found anywhere. Even though men believe that in modern age heroes
and tragedies do not occur, there is always a possibility that the common man is able to face the
worst of tragedies. One of main events that occur in a tragic play is an event in which a tragic hero
risks their life by challenging a person in authority. It is unfair to assume that an unfortunate event
in the life of a person is insignificant due to the fact that they do not

Cancer And Cancer
I would refer a family friend or colleague to the American Cancer Society (ACS) website where a
huge selection of support programs is offered throughout treatment and recovery (ACS, 2017c).
There is an entire section dedicated to assisting with finding resources in whatever area someone
is in or near and different programs from which to choose (ACS, 2017c). Visitors of the website
can also filter their search based on an array of different choices ranging from, but not limited to,
advocacy, assistance, information, referral, supplies, support groups, and transportation (ACS,

Bonding In The Atlantic Analysis
Many families have their own special time or activity that everyone loves to do and that creates
long lasting memories. Bonding can happen through any number of events but when food is
brought to the table it makes a completely different impact. Through cooking with your family or
friends that bonding can be taken to the next level. Through cooking foodit relaxes people and
inevitable people begin to open up to the other people in the room. An article in the The Atlantic
written by Cody Delistraty wrote how, The dinner table can act as a unifier, a place of community.

Women love when men cook them a homemade meal and men love when they can come home
to work to dinner already ready. Also kids love has that sense of importance whenever one of
their parents asked them for help in the kitchen. With how fast everyone is moving nowadays
people do not want to take the time to cook a homemade meal so fast food or eating out seems
more pleasing. Though eating out may seem more pleasing and easier there are complications
that can occur due to eating out too much. Most fast food is place in boxes or handle with gloves

On Being Brought To America By Henry Louis Wheatley
Wheatley s poem, On Being Brought from Africa to America is part of a set of works that
Henry Louis Gates Jr. recognized as a historically significant literary contribution for black
Americans and black women (Baym et al. 752). Addressed to the Christians who participated in
the slave trade, the poem is meant to reveal the inconsistencies between their actions and the
Christian Ideal. Whether perceived as a work of sincerity or a work of irony, the poem conveys
the message that an individual s behaviors are influenced by the examples of others and that all
people are equal. Understanding Phillis Wheatley s intent in her poem, On Being Brought from

third child (771). Phillis Wheatley s entrance into America was a terrifying ordeal. The young
girl arrived as an ailing, emaciated, and nearly naked (Puckett 277 78) slave. Wheatley recounts
the frightening event in her poem, To the Right Honourable William, Earl of Dartmouth, in
which she writes: I, young in life, by seeming cruel fate Was snatch d from Afric s fancy d happy
seat; What pangs excruciatingly must molest, What sorrows labour in my parent s breast?
(Wheatley and Odell 75) Although Phillis Wheatley was purchased as a slave, her intelligence
and talent granted her privileges that were atypical of ordinary slaves (Puckett 278). The
Wheatley family consistently maintained a permissive, compassionate attitude toward the girl
(278) and Phillis place in the family was more akin to that of a daughter (278) rather than a
slave. Phillis Wheatley s education was steeped in biblical teachings (280) and she demonstrated
a special interest in the Bible, not simply for spiritual and literary (280) reasons, but for hope in a
future where justice might prevail (280). Phillis Wheatley s poem, On Being Brought from Africa
to America, is rich with poetic and literary devices such as symbolism and metaphor and the poem

Analysis Of The Interesting Things About This Broadway...
[Alex Brightman] One of the interesting things about this Broadway season is that the two most
nominated shows are Hamilton and Shuffle Along, which feature big and almost entirely non
white casts. Additionally, there s Eclipsed, the first Broadway production be written, directed,
and performed exclusively by black women, and The Color Purple, which centers around black
actresses. The list goes on. What can Hollywood, learn from Broadway because they are
obviously having their own struggling with diversity at the moment? [Reed Birney] So much. I
mean, clearly [[00:00:30]] like what you just talked about in just the casting. But even beyond
the diversity within the casting and the storytelling, I think storytelling in general. I think
Hollywood is in a major drought right now, for actually capturing people s hearts and attentions
and minds. [Alex Brightman] They re sacrificing talent over whatever sells tickets. I just think
talent transcends anything else talent and drive and merit. I mean, I grew up thinking that show
business was a meritocracy, and it is not,and especially in [[00:01:00]] Hollywood. I think that
now, especially in what people are calling the new golden age of theater, we re doing it right.
People, no matter what they look like, have brought incredible stories to light. And people aren t
going, Eh, it s good, but she s this or he s that. [Reed Birney] But Broadway has always done stuff

Based on a bizarrely true story this is a tale of Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) a young executive
at a food processing company who one day decides to blow the whistle on the illegal activities of
he s company Mark Whitacre, who worked in the lysine developing company for multiple years,
has decided to work as an informant for the FBI against the illegal price fixing of his company.
He then informs the FBI that several executives at his company had been fixing the price of the

executives in the business were expected to accept kickbacks of five hundred thousand dollars

Corporate Crime Is A Victimless Crime
Corporate Crime The question before our society is not whether corporate crime is a victimless
crime, rather the question is what should be done about it? Corporate crime doesn t just do harm
to the investors that can be unknowingly damaged by these crimes, it has a much more insidious
nature to it as it has done harm on global scales. Corporate crimeis almost a misnomer because many
of these criminal wrongdoings are for the most part legal, when not taken to their ultimate
conclusion. Society within the United Stateshas been taught that the man in the brief case, yelling

Resilience In The Movie Unbroken
The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of
Louis Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability
to recover after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses
current research on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stressdisorder
(PTSD). Many people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop
PTSD. For a long time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing
PTSD. A newer approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of
resilience. Using the example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary
approach to studying resilience including biological, social, and lifestyle factors.
The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic
runner that underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the
American Air Force in World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini
was stranded in a tiny life raft for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then
spent two years in Japanese concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment
before being released. Cox explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma,
Zamperini was able to eventually forge past this and become a spokesman of his

Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Essay
Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother
Had Sigmund Freud lived 40 more years (to the overripe old age of 123), he would have been
delighted to hear such a wonderful example of his life s psychoanlytic work embodied in the
haunting lyrics of Mother. Or had Oedipus lived a few millennium longer than his fictional death
he would have found an adversary in the youthful Pink, a young boy whose desire for maternal
acceptance and love is arguably equal to the greatest mother centered protagonists in the history of
literature. Contrary to the eye gouging antics of Oedipus or even the grandiose melodrama later in
Floyd s album, Mother is relatively low key and emotionally subtle. The music itself is interestingly
split, though with few if any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the
nursery rhyme like style of the song s chorus? Before we get to that, the song s emotional and
psychological message must first be examined.
Similar to the music, the lyrics are as subtle as they are unsettling. Although the song takes a
seemingly forthright form of question and answer, the psychological implications behind the
lyrics are far from being simple and straightforward. Although the battling was over, the effects
of World War II were still extent in the years following the atrocious fight. The destruction of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the atomic bomb as well as the deaths of millions of Holocaust
victims and soldiers were all too fresh in the global consciousness. Fears of nuclear warfare and
continued fighting ran rampant through the post war world, instilling a sense of uncertainty in
the generations of and following the war. Such fears are blatantly reflected by the first line of
the song in which Pink asks his mother if they ll drop the bomb, referring to the apprehension of
enemy retaliation. However, this line, as well as the majority of the lyrics, is open to a wide
range of interpretation. Because of the psychological tendency to group people into two main
categories (those like us and those apart from us, or the Other) coupled with the recent divisions of
global powers in the war, one automatically assumes that the they Pink refers to is the

Bladder is one of the organ which is part of the urinary system of body. The major function of the
bladder is to store urine produced in the kidney prior to urination. The urinary system of the body
ensures the removal of wastes and excess fluid from the body in the form of urine. To ensure
normal urination to ensue, all the parts in the urinary system have to work in the right order. The
process of urineelimination begins in the kidneyand ends in the urethra. Human body is composed
of a pair of kidneys which is bean shaped and located right under the rib cage each on one side of

Vice President Essay
Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
First and foremost, thank you for being here in support of the student government association. I
want to thank our amazing dean Edina for encouraging me to run for vice president of SGA.
Many people have asked me why I am running for vice president. Would you ask a fifth grader if he

since I came to the University of Bridgeport, I constantly looked for ways to become more

even starting a chapter/club which is known as the food recovery network, with the help of my
peers. The food recovery network have recovered more than 300 pounds of food that would
otherwise have been thrown out.
My last involvement with SGA was when I was a senator. As a senator, I held various town halls

Egyptian Origins: On the basis of certain tomb drawings, which depict feet being massaged in a

ancient times. In a tomb at the huge burial ground in Egypt, there is a famous to wall painting
dating back to 2330 BCE. According to the translation of the hieroglyphics, the patient is saying

of certain new pathies, Reflexology and acupuncture received some setback but these systems
could not be ignored altogether. Their abiding qualities again attracted the attention of men in
medical profession as well as others. It was during the year 1582 that two distinguished European
physicians, Dr. Adamus and Dr. A tatis, brought out a book on Zone Therapy which gave
eminence to this primitive system of treatment. Modern Origins (zone theory): Zone therapy was

Magnetic Field Lab
A magnetic field is produced in the region around a wire whenever a current flow through that
wire. Magnetic fields are vector fields, they have a direction and magnitude. The formula for the
magnitude of the magnetic field from a wire is B=(Вµ_O I)/2ПЂr. B is the magnetic field, Вµ_O
is the permeability of free space (4ПЂxгЂ–10гЂ—^( 7)Tm/A), I is the current, and r is the
distance from the field sensor to the rod. In part 1A and 1B we constantly turn off the power source

In this graph, the magnetic field (B) is equal to 1/B. As displayed in the graph, 1/B is inversely
proportional to the distance from the field sensor to the rod (R), which allows the graph to
correspond to the expression of the magnitude of the magnetic field (B) in a current carrying wire
when there is a change in distance. The current (I) remains constant in this part. Lastly, in part 2 of
this lab, we analyzed the magnetic field of the magnet. Magnets can exert a force at a distance, just
like electric charges. Magnetic fields permeate space and are strongest near a permanent magnet
(magnetic dipole) or electromagnet (electric dipole); therefore, the power supply and ammeter were
not required in this part. Part 2, consisted of determining the relationship between the magnetic field
strength and the distance from the magnet. The graph 1/B vs. R^3, is the most linear out of the
three. This graph corresponds the best to how we know a change in distance affects the magnetic
field strength of a magnetic dipole, because the relatioship between a magnetic dipole and distance
is inversely proportional. As the distance between the rod and the magnet increases, the magnetic
field strength

The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He...
The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office.
The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that
there is more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was
very short, he made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would
have helped America in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he
would have accomplished. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on
November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named
Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was

views of communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of
Kennedy. For less than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located
near Daeley Plaza. The theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository
and hid the gun there. When the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was
found on the barrel on the gun (Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a
pistol. He then returned to the Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer
approached to question him. He was arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later
JFK 5 that he was linked to the assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the
accounts of shooting both President Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald
was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t
want Oswald selling him out if they were accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008).

woman who had failed to meet society s expectations. Dickinson lived out her life unwed, on her
family homestead, rarely ever leaving the house, let alone her own room. As a result of her peculiar
life, Dickinson found poetryas an outlet to express her feelings, experiences, and philosophy. In her
reclusive state, Dickinson created nearly 1,800 poems, many of which challenged societal values of
the time. Because of Emily Dickinsons unique perspective on life, poetry served as an outlet for her
nonconformist statements on the society s expectations of women... Show more content on

In Dickinson s The Soul selects her own Society , she discusses the concept of individuality, and
how it affects people in relation to society. To begin, Dickinson writes The Soul selects her own
Society / Then shuts the Door / To her divine Majority / Present no more (1 4). The act of
someone selecting their own society , as described in this poem, is a metaphor for finding
purpose and meaning in life, and discovering what they wants to do with their time on Earth.
Shutting the door is a comment on commitment, and how one must be completely devoted to the
society in which they have selected. When compared to Dickinson s own life, it appears that this
poem is making a statement on Dickinson s choice to live in seclusion. The society in which
Dickinson has selected is the world of poetry, which she enjoys in the comfort of her own room.
She quite literally shuts the door behind her, as Dickinson rarely left her own room. As for her
commitment to writing poetry, the fact that she wrote nearly 1,800 poems makes it very clear
that she was devoted to the society she had selected. Furthermore, Dickinson writes Unmoved she
notes the Chariots / At her low Gate / Unmoved an Emperor be kneeling / Upon her Mat (5 8).
While it is not explicitly stated who the Emperor is, it can inferred that the Emperor is a man of
authority. This Emperor could quite possibly be a suitor

Loss Of Innocence In Heart Of Darkness
Loss of innocence and corruption of man are two of the main 20th century themes demonstrated in
British modernism in the characters Kurtz in Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the British Officer in
Orwell s Shooting an Elephant , and Trevor in Greene s The Destructors . Corruption of man and
loss of innocence is portrayed in Heart of Darkness; Kurtz has everything he wants. He has power,
a mistress, and loyal followers, which are the savages of the Congo. Marlow, however, was a
different person before exploring the Congo. Not only is corruption of man and loss of innocence
in Heart of Darkness but also in Shooting an Elephant , the British officer is hated throughout his
community and when he gets the chance at fame in the community, he takes... Show more content

The story begins in a hollow town in crumbles as an aftermath of WWI. In all the mess, a
beautiful home stands alone (Greene 4). An old lonely man lives in this house. 12 young boys
come by and are very jealous of his home so T, the new leader, gets a tour. After he comes out,
the gang devises a plan to destroy it (1). They d never know. We d do it from inside. I ve found a
way in. He said with a sort of intensity, We d be like worms, don t you see, in an apple. When we
came out again there d be nothing there, no staircase, no panels, nothing but just walls, and then
we d make the walls fall down somehow (Greene 5). That was the plan, the boys decided to
destroy the house. Keep in mind, these boys are only 6 13 years of age. Innocent little boys, who
people only see as little boys not destroyers of a beautiful creation. The war transformed the
children s hate in the world and corrupted their vision of humanity. Boys destroy an old innocent
man s home out of jealousy, and are not even the slightest bit remorseful. Loss of innocence and
corruption of man are very pronounced themes in this 20th century short story.
In Shooting an Elephant , loss of innocence and corruption of man are shown in the British officer.
The officer is hated amongst his community. There is also an elephant hated too for killing an

An Project On The Development Of It System Applications Or...
For any company involved in the development of IT system applications or any other software,
having a team of people who knows what they are doing, will determine if the application will be
useful or a total failure. Since money cannot be wasted and it is sometimes shorted by the client,
having the experience and the right leaders to keep this project organized and on schedule, will help
the development teammembers finish this project on time and on budget. However, in order to stay
on track of the requirements set by the client, communicating with the client on a regular basis
either by phone or by virtual meetings, the results of the project will most likely be a success.
To me, the purpose of these meetings are to keep the client involved in the project as much as
possible so that all the discussed requirements are well understood and if any changes are made by
the client, then new changes can be made right there on the spot avoiding future delays. I think that
the main goal here is to keep the client satisfied with the results as much as possible. When I say
results I mean, making sure that what the client wants and do not want on the system application is
included to the last detail.
During the life cycle of the project, there are going to be many decisions to be made, and keeping
in touch with the client as much as possible, the decisions might change the results of the project in
terms of delays or higher costs. For example, the development team might set an

Latinx Feminist Theory
The term feminism encapsulates a vast variety of topics important to women s rights.
Unfortunately, feminist theory is often talked about within the restrictions of a reproductive binary.
Latinx feminist theory is more than just a reproduction binary. As women of color, Latinx women
have historically been undermined and excluded from social narratives. Latinx women however,
challenge various forms of oppression, such as the perpetuations of sexism, racism, and violence,
by sharing their testimonios to the world a vulnerable yet incredibly strong form of resistance. This
specialized theory addresses many of the barriers that intersect and impact Latinx women on a daily

I demonstrate the importance of allywork to the Latinx feminist theory in stanza six by which I
call for readers to help Liberate not only women, but anyone oppressed. Despite the differences of
our experiences, Latinx feminist theory believes that our differences should serve as an incentive to
establish solidarity towards justice, not another borderland to cross. Similar to the reproductive
justice theory s utilization of the Ubuntu philosophy, the belief in the universal bond of sharing that
connects all humanity (201 RJT) Latinx feminist theory embraces unity as a direct path to the
realization of the left world concept. Furthermore, I emphasize the essentiality of allywork to the
theory through the motif of It begins today/Empezando hoy. The motif functions as a reminder of
how vital it is to Latinx feminist theory to being unified among marginalized groups as a way of
creating effective change for

Romanticism, The Supernatural and Human Existence Essay
Romanticism, The Supernatural, and Human Existence Throughout the 18th century the Romantic
era dominated Western cultural thought. Romanticism was an enormous artistic movement that
influenced some of the many, well known artists we study today. Percy Shelley was one of those
artists. Shelley was infamous for his anarchism, atheism, and provocative egotistic views. But for
some, Shelley appeared to be a Romantic philosophical poet with beautiful works of art. Stanzas
Written in Dejection December 1818, near Naples was a poem written by Shelley that expressed
Romantic work because of its literary structure and style relevant to nature. Shelley uses the
elements of human feeling as well as natural imagery in this Romantic poem. The... Show more

People who are able to find the pleasures in life so easily. The poem then leads into an emphasis
of dejection in which he says, I could lie down like a tired child and weep away the life of care
Which I have borne and yet must bear Till Death like Sleep might steal on me, And I might feel
in the warm air My cheek grow cold, and hear the Sea Breathe o er my dying brain its last

his life until death sneaks upon him. Death would turn his warm cheeks cold while the waves of
the ocean continue and his consciousness would become faint. Shelley is implying that no
matter how beautiful or peaceful one s surroundings may be, if one is unhappy he will not be
able to enjoy anything around him. In the last stanza, Shelley is saying that some will be sad
that he is gone just as he will be sad when this beautiful day is over. But his emotions contrast that
he will be sad the day is over because of his attitude towards life. He is not well known by many
people and they may not approve of his life, but they may be sad that he is gone anyway. Although
the day is gone and the Sun has set, Shelley feels no emotion towards the end of the day because it
is a memory that he has apparently enjoyed. Elements of romanticism are evident in this poem
through Shelley s use of nature and the melancholy feelings associated with it. The Romantic

How Important Was The Role Of Lafayette In Leaving Home
On the 15th July Lafayette was appointed leader of the National Guard, which was an armed
guard with the role of protecting Paris from foreign threats along with maintaining order in the
city. It was from this position that Lafayette came to notice in the revolution as he now was in a
position on power. Lafayette faced difficulty as leader of the National Guard as on the 15th
October 1789 a large crowd of mostly women marched to Versailles in response to food shortages.
The crowd gathered outside the palace and as Louis refused to move to Paris, the crowd broke into
the palace. Lafayette intervened in the situation and escorted the royal family to the balcony of the

Growing Up In a Dysfunctional Family
When some people look back on their childhood they see happy times full of family memories,
traditions, love, and encouragement. When I look back on my childhood I remember drug
abuse, visiting my step father in jail, going without utilities, and playing the role of a mother at
the age of eight. I knew I was different from other children. I knew that my parents depended on
me to play the role of an adult. They depended on me to get up every morning and get my brother
and sister on the school bus. I knew they depended on me to go straight home from school every
day so I could babysit. I would wake my mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the family s survival is dependent on the enabler, they may pay the cost of stress related
illnesses, never having his or her own needs met, and be a sufferer for the cause of the family.
Ironically, because the enabler permits the dependent s behavior, they are also preventing the
corrective experience that crisis brings, which may be the only thing that stops the dependents

the caretaker . The hero takes on the role of a parent and feels responsible for the emotional
health of the family. The hero is characteristically an over achiever and over responsible. The
family looks at the hero s as a source of humility and honor, and it makes the family feel as if
they are doing well. The hero may do well in school and be good at sports and obtain good
employment while inside the hero suffers from feelings of insufficiency, failure, or guiltiness.
These feelings derive from thoughts that no matter how well the hero does, it will not heal the
wounds of their family. The hero s obsessive drive to accomplish something may lead to stress
related illness as well as compulsive over working. Since the hero tries so hard to do well, he or
she often obtains a great deal of positive attention. However, inwardly, the hero feels empty and

To His Coy Mistress By Marvell
Examine the view that Marvell presents love as entirely physical Although the role of sexual
intercourse within the context of love is heavily emphasized by Marvell in To His Coy Mistress ,
suggesting that the Carpe Diem poem presents love as solely physical is arguably hyperbolic.
Marvell s structural establishment of a perpetual hypothetical implicitly addresses the nature of
romantic asexual love and presents it as something fundamentally positive. This is structurally
established in the first verse through Marvell s diction choice of had we and continually utilized
until the twentieth line. A hypothetical context is essentially presented to the love interest
addressed in the dramatic monologue, where Marvell and his lover have enough World and Time

Ultimately, this is due to Marvell and the addressee lacking the time to pursue these endeavours.
This becomes clear to the reader in verse 21, where Marvell metaphorically alludes to the Olympian
deity Apollo, through the symbolic establishment of time s winged Charriot hurrying near . Within
the context of the poem, this metaphor ultimately introduces a sharp tonal shift between the
hypothetical nature of the poem and the realism of the current situation. The shift in tone is further
enforced by Marvell s employment of the motif of death in line 27, where the grotesque imagery
of worms essentially deflowering his lover in the grave establishes juxtaposing connotations to
Marvell s hypothetical promise to love his mistress until the end of time in verse 10. Furthermore,
it reinforces the critical lack of time Marvell and the addressee have together as the lover will
inevitably die, inherently providing an essential argument to the addressee to indulge in sexual
intercourse with

The Characteristics Of Jesus Christ And The Counseling World
The world is full of counselors, therapists, psychologist, and many more mental help specialists but
what can be difficult is attempting to discover what makes a counselor great. It can be agreed upon
that some of the characteristics that make up a great counselor include, but are not limited to:
empathy, compassion, being nonjudgmental, trust, confidentiality, and commitment. These are all
traits of JesusChrist who is referred to as the Great Counselor. It has taken the mental health
industry decades to even begin to reach the place Jesus reached in His three years of ministry. By
comparing Jesus and the counselingworld one can see why Jesus is referred to as the Great
Counselor and where the counseling world does well in helping individuals but still falls short.
Throughout the Bible we hear Jesus refered to as the Great Counselor, that He is the Messiah,
the Great Healer. The Bible does not merely claim this but later shows the statements to be true
during Jesus ministry. While Jesus was alive on this earth He was criticized for who He chose to
spend time with tax collectors and sinners, the rejects of the society and although Jesus was seen as
above them He did not judge them. Instead He says to the Phariseesquestioning Him in Mark 2:13
17, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the
righteous, but sinners (New International Version). This passage is clearly referring to salvation but

Cons Of Animal Cloning
A.According to Kathleen R. Brooks and Jayson L. Lusk (2011) Animal cloning is a process in
which scientists can copy the genetic or inherited traits of an animal.
1.Clones are like identical twins only born at different times. Similar to in vitro fertilization, cloned
animals begin in a laboratory, but then are born to surrogate mothers.

How To Build A Seatbelt
Seatbelts contain two main parts, a lap belt and a shoulder belt and are secured to the frame of
the car. They have been proven to reduce and prevent injury in the event of a car accident by

likelihood of a collision, the belt tightens up to hold the passenger in place so that they do not go

The skills shortage issue in the Australian labour market is very apparent. In any case, the reasons
as to why this is occurring always relates to factors of change. These factors of change include; the

The Unions are furious about this, saying that Australian workers should be a priority. The
Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) and the Australian Workers Union (AWU) will
continue to push the government to have jobs for local workers advertised before bringing in
foreign workers. The known skills shortage within the resource sector has been rising gradually
desperate with 33,000 workers needed in Western Australia alone in the following year. The
required education involved in particular to jobs restricts the supply of labour. Wayne Swan

strategy that will bring about 70,000 new training places for workers over the next 4 years. The

like numeracy and literacy. Another way the Australian government has addressed this issue is

Social media is a great way to do so; salesmen or companies just have to post their product and
information on their page, and all you need to do is check out a review or a video link and judge
the product (Duda, 2011). Also, social media is a chance for companies to show people that
their more than just a logo, it makes people feel that they re chatting with another person, not
dealing with a faceless company. Believe it or not people tend to trust their friends more than
their companies. But there s nothing that says your brand can t be their friend too (Duda, 2011).
This shows that not only can u accept people as friends on social networks, you can also add and
accept companies and get to know them and their products, and trust them as if they were your

what social networks like Facebook provide. Social media is taking over, and it will continue to

Comparing My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover are two mind boggling tales that relate in many ways.
Two of which, they are both written by Robert Browning and from a male s point of view. The
Duke in My Last Duchess gives off a controlling, jealous, and arrogant vibe towards the Duchess
which results in her death. The man in Porphyria s Lover is angry and irritated because the woman
he loves will not divorce her husband which also ends with her death. The poems My Last Duchess
and Porphyria s Lover demonstrate two different relationships with women while both men view
women as objects. The men in both poems use possessive language towards the women. Porphyria
s Lover says, that moment she was mine, mine... (Porphyria line 26). This vividly portrays the
man as controlling and overly possessive. He then comes up with a plan to kill her, so he can keep
Porphyria in the moment because he knows he not have a future with her. Similarly, the Dukeviews
his Duchess as his own keepsake and hides the painting of his Duchess behind a curtain so none

and will find solutions to any problem. Next, I asked, What are some benefits and challenges of

together with a purpose, they talk about student learning, and the teachers share the same vision.
The challenge is maintaining consistency across the board and motivating every teacher to stay

teachers had to share with their group members common challenges they face every school year.

The constituents of a mutual organization put money into a collective, where it may then be

extremely high risk of default. This type of lender offers loans at exorbitant interest rates as a way
of covering losses from the high default rate they experience with their borrowers. Fannie Mae
does not hold onto all of the purchased mortgages. It will take the individual loans and package
them up with hundreds of others and market them as mortgage backed securities (MBS) that it then
sells to investors (for example, insurance companies, pension funds). Fannie Mae provides a
guarantee to these investors that they will receive timely principal and interest payments, no matter
what happens with the underlying mortgages. If there are large numbers of defaults, Fannie Mae
will have to make the investors whole, utilizing tax dollars. Investors can also buy shares

Evangelical Protestantism Vs. Catholicism

Evangelical Protestantism versus Catholicism
Protestants and Catholics are constantly being compared and weighed against one another in order
to declare whose faith is best or true. Though there are many similarities between each faith as they
are both Christian denominations, their differences cause much friction between the two groups.
Some of the foundational Catholic beliefs revolve around the ideals that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God, that the Bible is the inspired, error free, revealed Word of God, and the existence of the Holy
Trinity, which is one God in three persons. In the Evangelical Church, there is only one God, the
creator and ruler of all things. Although the nature of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first big difference between the two is what they acknowledge as Holy scripture. Catholics
not only use the Old and New Testament scripture but also use the Apocrypha and the catholic
interpretation of the bible. Evangelicals believe that they are justified or saved by faith alone,
not by good works. Good works are not ignored and you will be rewarded in heaven for them but
that is not what saves you in the eyes of an evangelical. Contrary to this belief Catholic hold to
the ideal of baptism being the removal of sins and in turn God grants grace to those that are
baptized. The grace given by God is then used to produce good works. Evangelicals believe and
practice baptism however unlike Catholic they only practice adult baptism. Catholics practice infant
baptism, which is an un biblically supported custom. Purgatory is another custom evangelicals
reject. Catholics profess that there are two types of punishment, a temporary and eternal. Purgatory
is pretty much a holding place for people that have only committed certain kinds of sins. For
evangelicals believe that only God can forgive sins but Catholics claim that priests have been given
authority to forgive sins, standing in place of the Holy Spirit. Roman Catholic beliefs include the
special authority of the pope the ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, and the
doctrine of transubstantiation that is, that the bread used in the Eucharist

Essay about Symbols in the Briefcase in “Invisible Man” by...
Towards the end of the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, the narrator who remains unnamed
thought the entire book, risks his life to save a briefcase filled with seemingly random assorted
items. But later in the book the narrator is forced to burn the items in his briefcase in order to
find his way out of a sewer he gets stuck in. Closer reading reveals that the items in his briefcase
are more than random assorted items, but instead are symbols. Each one of those symbols
represents a point in the narrator s life where he is either betrayed or made invisible by the people
around him. Through the book the two main recurring themes are betrayal and invisibility and the
narrator keeps these symbols with him because they represent who he... Show more content on

The crowd continually asks him to repeat himself and at one point the narrator miss speaks and
says social equality instead of social responsibility. This immediate arouses the whites in the
crowd. When they yell threats at him he Denys what he said and claims that the blood in his
mouth caused him to misspeak. In this incident the whites in the crowd immediately stop any
variation from what they want to hear coming out of the mouth of an African American. This is
another way that he is oppressed into being what people want him to be and therefore becoming
invisible. The narrator also feels betrayed when he sees Clifton with the doll. At that time the
narrator still considered himself a part of the brotherhood, and since the brotherhood would never
allow such a thing to be sold, Clifton is betraying the brotherhood and also the narrator himself.
Another symbolic item in the narrator s briefcase is the Sambo doll that brother Clifton was selling
illegally on the street. It is not the doll itself, but instead the circumstances surrounding Clifton s
death that make the doll significant. Before his death, the narrator meets brother Clifton, and
describes him as the ideal man. He is educated, well dressed, muscular, and has a stylish swag
about him, that the narrator admires. But we don t know Clifton long before he is shot. Clifton
suddenly drops from his original

The Chimney Sweeper in Innocence vs. The Chimney Sweeper in Experience
In William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, many of the poems correlate in
numerous aspects. For example, The Chimney
Sweeper is a key poem in both collections that portrays the soul of a child with both a naГЇve and
experienced persona. Blake uses the aspects of religion, light versus dark imagery, and the usage of
the chimney sweeper itself to convey the similarities and differences of the figure in both poems.

After Tom awakes from this dream, he was happy and warm with the knowledge that with God,
there was no need to fear death.
However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious
imagery is not so much as in Songs of
Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates
terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the
clothes of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone
to praise God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot
understand this as he
sings the notes of woe and not happiness. This chimney sweeper does not have the innocence and
hopefulness of the chimney sweeper in Songs of Innocence. This child possesses experience of
hardship and does not hold much faith in God and religion. This version of The Chimney
Sweeper lacks the hopefulness and faith found in the former version although it is the same setting,
factors, and occupation.
William Blake conveys both innocence and experience with the literary technique of light versus
dark imagery. In Songs of Innocence, Blake discusses the issue of soot on several instances. In the
beginning verse, the young chimney sweeper slept in soot, showing the incorruptibility and despair
of the young child. Also, Tom Dacre s
white hair was shaved so that the dark soot

California at Los Angeles, lists the many ways athletics help to do this by bringing in a large
amount of extra revenue for the university in the form of ticket sales, apparel sales, and various
other ways to make money from athletics.. The athletic department posted a $21.2 million surplus
in 2013, a number which has only gone up since then (Solomon). This money then goes back into
the university to finance the creation of new buildings or events. In the university s 2016
financial report, a few of the many improvements the university is actively making to the campus
were listed. North Lawn Hall, which includes a total of 12 classrooms and 1,919 seats, is listed on
the report, costing $21.7 million to build (Studebaker). Also listed are the $9.7 million worth of
renovations done to the Moody Music Building, which was expanded to create a new area for the
Million Dollar Band. As both a member of the band and an avid attendee of classes in North Lawn

facilities may not have been built directly using the money made from athletic programs, the
revenue that athletic programs bring in gives the university room in the budget to make the
mentioned improvements on

Victims Of Ignorance In Charles Bukowski s Post Office
Despite his later riches from his book Post Office, Charles Bukowski was a victim of neglect as
a child and often seemed to have trouble with women (Malone, 5 7). In his book Post Office, he
portrayed women as ignorant, without morals, and only having worth based on their sexual
abilities/sexual attraction. In Post Office, G.G. , a character portrayed as a kind old man is
accused of molesting a child by the child s mother. In this instance, the mother is depicted as
ignorant. Not only does she fail to initially see that G.G. gives candy to all children on his route,
but she is shown as too dense to understand this when the post office boss tries to explain it to her.
Instead, she is shown to be only thinking of sex and her only asset is her pussie . This is explicitly
noted when Chinaski tells his colleague that the woman got a dirty mind. Half of the mothers in
America, with their precious pussies...have dirty minds. Tell her to shove it (Bukowski, 44). The
use of course and hostile language that includes sexual innuendos suggest that women are only for
sex, naturally are negative thinking the worse, and are not intelligence. Throughout the book, the
author refers to women as bitches , which further depicts them as... Show more content on

Accidents Happen By Edgar Snyder Associates Essay
Accidents Happen According to Edgar Snyder Associates, there were 2,823 motor vehicle
accidents among people ages 13 to 19 years old in 2012. On a rainy day in October of 2015,
when I was 18 years old I got into a car wreck while I was driving to work. Be careful when
driving, you never know when an accident will happen to you. When I woke up that morning I
had no idea what the day had in store for me. To start off, I had gotten up late and I was rushing
through my morning routine. I needed to be at work by 8:30 am and I kept my eyes on the
clock. I really did not want to be late, after all I had only just started working there a few weeks
ago. When I finally had myself all ready, it was 8:20 am. It takes me fifteen minutes to get to
work in Springfield from Williamsville and I knew that if I wanted to get there on time I would
need to hurry. As I went outside to my car I noticed that it was sprinkling rain. I started my car
and I was off. I was speeding and trying to make it through every light without stopping. All the
while I was still concerned with the music I had playing, constantly changing the station. I was
getting close to work now and it was about 8:27 am. I had just passed over the Sangamon River
and was approaching Freedom gas station where I needed to turn left onto Dirksen Parkway. The
light rain was still coming down as I got closer to the turn lane. I soon realized that quite a few
cars were backed up at the light ahead of me. I started to get over into

Analysis Of Waking Sleeping Beauty
Rafiki, the wise baboon from The Lion King, explains to Simba that the past can hurt. But the
way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it. Rafiki teaches Simba a valuable lesson:
to use other peoples mistakes to avoid making the same ones; when people reflect on their past
and are willing to confront the mistakes head on, they can be very successful. Waking Sleeping
Beauty gives viewers an inside look from 1984 to 1994 when Disney reached the peak of The
Disney Renaissance during this period of time, Disney produced some of their best animated
movies. Although Disney was successful during this era, it took a lot of work for them to get to
that stage. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Disney was put into shambles due to the death of
Walt Disneyand his brother, Roy Disney. Simultaneously, Disney produced The Black Cauldron
which proved to be a failure; not only was it expensive and made little return, it was beat out in the
box office by The Care Bears Movie which was an embarrassment for Disney AnimationStudios. At
this point in time Disney was a hopeless, downwards spiral on its way towards bankruptcy.
Disney needed a leader that was willing to take charge and restore the company to its magical
ways and beyond. Ultimately, Waking Sleeping Beauty answers the following question: After
their downfall, how was Disney able to recover and produce successful movies in the 1980s and
1990s? The documentary has several responses to this question, but its main focus explains that
Disney was able to thrive once again by hiring new personnel in leadership positions who were
willing to lead Disney into The Disney Renaissance . By hiring Frank Wells as Disney s COO and
President, Michael Eisneras CEO and Chairman, and Jeffrey Katzenberg as head of the film
division, Disney was able to begin the transition from their greatest downfall to their greatest
success. These three men were ready to lead the company to avoid the same mistakes it had made
in the past. Although, Disney was looking to hire new leaders to steer the company into the right
direction, they wanted to make sure that the new personnel was qualified and fit for the job. When
it came time to hire Eisner, Schneider, a Disney s first

Ecological Imperialism by Alfred W. Crosby
In the book Ecological Imperialism: The Biological expansion of Europe, 900 1900 the author,
Alfred W. Crosby, answers many questions about the history of European expansion. It is a well
written and thought out book with great analogies and detailed information that help the reader
understand what exactly Crosby is trying to say. He starts off his book by explaining what the
Neo Europes are. They are a population who settled in the temperate zones and are mainly
European descents. The questions he is attempting to explain is why there is a substantial mass of
Europeans in these different lands which were so far flung from Europe. The European emigrants
have scattered among many lands in the world, and have become the leading ethnic group in most
regions outside of Europe. In addition, Crosby reflects on how the Neo Europes were able to
provide vast food excess. His most important question though, is if European humans have
triumphed because of their superiority in arms, organization and fanaticism... or Perhaps the
success of European imperialism has a biological, an ecological, component. (p.7) Further in the
book Crosby explains his questions to the readers. First and foremost, the history of the stone age is
important. The first humans created stepping stones to create a different future that is today.
Looking back in history there were massively giant creatures that we couldnt even imagine roaming
the earth today. Dating back to the stone age they succeeded

men versus normal everyday things. This keep the reader wanting to know what happens in the end.

Persuasive Essay On Being An Adult
When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone as an adult, but
that doesn t necessarily mean that they act like one. I think being an adult means, being able to
support yourself; as in having a steady paying job, and most importantly being accountable to
yourself. Being able to make your own decisions without asking a parentor model figure first, is an
example of having an identity status of a moratorium. One with this type of mindset as a young
adult, will weigh their options and consider their values and what they believe themselves, whether
it s their own thoughtbranched off of their parents guidance, or it is completely their own ideaand
they explore to see what their views are. On the other hand, for some, they rely on their parents
approval, they may have an idea or opinion about a topic, but they will ask a parent or model
figure in their life to seek guidance. The young adult wants the security of having the approval of a
decision and being told what to do and pointed what direction to go towards. This is essentially
making the decision for them. This type of identity status if called foreclosure.
At a very young age, I was given the responsibility to take care of my youngest sister after school.
I had to help her with her homework, make dinner for us both and put her to bed some days; and
on top of that do my own homework and get my chores done. Both of my parents worked full time

And Benjamin Franklin: The Autobiography Every literature story has an importance of a great

The story of Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin wrote a narrative of their life experience and

Franklin, stated, I had been religiously educated , I seldom attended any public Worship (562).
Franklin formed his own fate in relation with his belief. The ideas he mission were righteousness,
justice and belief that happiness may be found in worldly values. I believe both individual were
establishing an identity free from the native land, although Rowlandson was taking away. In
Franklin s Autobiography, he was seeking to establish a new identity for the new world. This
parallels Rowlandson in that she at the end of her captivity has evolved into a new person.
Although Rowlandson has placed her fate more in God s hand. Franklin suggested that man
controls his own destiny but also makes reference throughout to God. I believe he must deal with
his excessive pride, even as Rowlandson has dealt with her own vanity.
Despite the cultural differences I learned a lot about Rowlandson and Franklin s time. The
Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin was not an easy book to read. Benjamin Franklin was a
remarkable man. He was a printer, author, politician and an inventor (PECO). Because of
Franklins, this essay is being written about one of the men responsible for America s success
today. The captivity narratives of Rowlandson served to define goodness and women s proper
devotion to their religion, and to give a religious message about the value of faith in times of harsh
conditions. The belief of Rowlandson and Franklin in God did help to form our

What Is The Purpose Of Bureaucracy InJust Do What The...
In the articles Just Do What the Pilot Tells You by Theodore Dalrymple and Genocidal Killer in
the Mirror by Crispin Sartwell, the authors both support the claim that people appeal to authority
through bureaucracy and hierarchy. A bureaucracy is a system of government where nearly most
of the important decisions are made by state officials, rather than by an elected representative.
Sartwell concludes that people included in the bureaucracy fixed the society to do what they
wanted him to do and to react to things a certain kind of way, and Dalrymple understands that
everyone has to answer to someone. For example, a teacher has to answer to the principle and the
principal has to answer to the superintendent. So, like a hierarchy, everyone has to answer to
someone. A hierarchy is a system or organization where people or groups are ranked one above
the other according to their status or authority. While both provide some clarification of the same
process, Sartwell believes that bureaucracies are the greatest evils of society. And while Dalrymple
agrees on the topic, he asserts that nearly most of the time we should follow authority in a
technologically advanced society. Dalrymple asserts that the interests of patients come from the
hierarchy among doctors and that it s their job to take full responsibility for the care of their
patients, Sartwell believes that those included in the bureaucracy mobilized a society to do what
they wanted and react to things in a certain kind

He died at the age of 75 in 1882 after suffering from severe stomach pain. He was buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts along with his wives. His family was very influential in the region. His father was a prominent lawyer. His maternal grandfather, Peleg Wadsworth, held the position of general in the American Revolutionary War and also served as a member of Congress (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow). Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the most popular poet in America, shaped his poetry to encourage virtues and to live life happily without giving up on any situation that life brings. Longfellow attended Bowdoin Collegein Brunswick, Maine (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow). He graduated college in 1825 and was ranked fourth in his class (Adnax Publications). He was invited to accept the new Chair of Modern Languages, and he taught at Bowdoin College and Harvard. While teaching at the colleges, he translated many textbooks in French, Italian, and Spanish. • 3. Miles Davis, Miles. Davis Biography of Miles Davis Miles Dewey Davis the Third was a musician; composer; genius. Davis wrote a large portion of the music he played and he did not care what people thought about his music. Do not fear mistakes, there are none. (Miles Davis 29). The amount of skill Davis must have had to keep on creating new, original, different music is far beyond many people. Davis is one of the main contributing factors to change jazz. He, alone, has made his own style, the Cool Jazz genre (Karl Scarborough 26). Davis is surely one of the reasons I believe jazz is here to stay for a long time, and Davis thought so too. In Davis life, he has done many great things and experienced some good things as well as some bad things. Davis is a man whom, one might say, has seen in all. Even his childhood was different than most people born in the 20s and 30s. Davis was born the 26th of May, 1926 in Alton Illinois (John Szwed 13). Davis has one sister, Dorothy Davis, and one brother, Vernon Davis. Davis father is Miles Dewey Davis the Second. Davis mother is Cleota Henry Davis. Davis married Betty Davis and had four children, three sons and one daughter. Miles Dewey Davis the Fourth, Gregory Davis, Erin Davis and Cheryl Davis (Quincy Troupe 9). Davis did not have the best relationship with his mother (Jack Chambers 25). They both liked to control things which they could not do at the same time (John Szwed 13). Although Da vis was controlling, he was also shy as a child (John Szwed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The exact portrayal of the king s facial features achieved here made it possible for his soul to recognize him and return to his mummified body, thus ensuring his resurrection. The head is covered by the royal headdress and the forehead bears the emblems of kingship and protection: the vulture and uraeus, or cobra. In all three of the coffins, Tutankhamun was represented identically with the nemes headdress and the ceremonial beard, folding his arms as his hands grasp the insignia of royal power the heqa scepter in the left and the nekhakha flail in the right. From Tutankhamun s forehead a cobra and a vulture stand out, emblems of Wadjet and Nekhbet, the two tutelary deities of Lower and Upper Egypt. Although Tutankhamun s two innermost sarcophagi are displayed in the exhibition, the outermost one still holds the mummy of Tutankhamun and resides in his tomb in the valley of the kings. 5. • 5. Arthur Miller s Essay Tragedy And The Common Man In Arthur Miller s essay, Tragedy and the Common Man, Miller in fact is right about his thesis. He believes that the common man can experience tragedy. The character who experiences the tragedy, challenges authority; regardless if they are the common man, or a person with power. Secondly, tragedy can be found anywhere. Even though men believe that in modern age heroes and tragedies do not occur, there is always a possibility that the common man is able to face the worst of tragedies. One of main events that occur in a tragic play is an event in which a tragic hero risks their life by challenging a person in authority. • 8. On Being Brought To America By Henry Louis Wheatley Wheatley s poem, On Being Brought from Africa to America is part of a set of works that Henry Louis Gates Jr. recognized as a historically significant literary contribution for black Americans and black women (Baym et al. 752). Addressed to the Christians who participated in the slave trade, the poem is meant to reveal the inconsistencies between their actions and the Christian Ideal. Whether perceived as a work of sincerity or a work of irony, the poem conveys the message that an individual s behaviors are influenced by the examples of others and that all people are equal. Phillis Wheatley s entrance into America was a terrifying ordeal. The young girl arrived as an ailing, emaciated, and nearly naked (Puckett 277 78) slave. Wheatley recounts the frightening event in her poem, To the Right Honourable William, Earl of Dartmouth, in which she writes: I, young in life, by seeming cruel fate Was snatch d from Afric s fancy d happy seat; What pangs excruciatingly must molest, What sorrows labour in my parent s breast? (Wheatley and Odell 75) Although Phillis Wheatley was purchased as a slave, her intelligence and talent granted her privileges that were atypical of ordinary slaves (Puckett 278). The Wheatley family consistently maintained a permissive, compassionate attitude toward the girl (278) and Phillis place in the family was more akin to that of a daughter (278) rather than a slave. Phillis Wheatley s education was steeped in biblical teachings (280) and she demonstrated a special interest in the Bible, not simply for spiritual and literary (280) reasons, but for hope in a future where justice might prevail (280). • 9. Analysis Of The Interesting Things About This Broadway... [Alex Brightman] One of the interesting things about this Broadway season is that the two most nominated shows are Hamilton and Shuffle Along, which feature big and almost entirely non white casts. Additionally, there s Eclipsed, the first Broadway production be written, directed, and performed exclusively by black women, and The Color Purple, which centers around black actresses. The list goes on. What can Hollywood, learn from Broadway because they are obviously having their own struggling with diversity at the moment? [Reed Birney] So much. I mean, clearly [[00:00:30]] like what you just talked about in just the casting. But even beyond the diversity within the casting and the storytelling, I think storytelling in general. I think Hollywood is in a major drought right now, for actually capturing people s hearts and attentions and minds. [Alex Brightman] They re sacrificing talent over whatever sells tickets. I just think talent transcends anything else talent and drive and merit. I mean, I grew up thinking that show business was a meritocracy, and it is not,and especially in [[00:01:00]] Hollywood. I think that now, especially in what people are calling the new golden age of theater, we re doing it right. People, no matter what they look like, have brought incredible stories to light. And people aren t going, Eh, it s good, but she s this or he s that. [Reed Birney] But Broadway has always done stuff before Hollywood. You know The Children s Hour, ... • 12. Resilience In The Movie Unbroken The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stressdisorder (PTSD). Many people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience including biological, social, and lifestyle factors. The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. Cox explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma, Zamperini was able to eventually forge past this and become a spokesman of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Essay Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Had Sigmund Freud lived 40 more years (to the overripe old age of 123), he would have been delighted to hear such a wonderful example of his life s psychoanlytic work embodied in the haunting lyrics of Mother. Or had Oedipus lived a few millennium longer than his fictional death he would have found an adversary in the youthful Pink, a young boy whose desire for maternal acceptance and love is arguably equal to the greatest mother centered protagonists in the history of literature. Contrary to the eye gouging antics of Oedipus or even the grandiose melodrama later in Floyd s album, Mother is relatively low key and emotionally subtle. So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the nursery rhyme like style of the song s chorus? Before we get to that, the song s emotional and psychological message must first be examined. Similar to the music, the lyrics are as subtle as they are unsettling. Although the song takes a seemingly forthright form of question and answer, the psychological implications behind the lyrics are far from being simple and straightforward. Although the battling was over, the effects of World War II were still extent in the years following the atrocious fight. The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the atomic bomb as well as the deaths of millions of Holocaust victims and soldiers were all too fresh in the global consciousness. Fears of nuclear warfare and continued fighting ran rampant through the post war world, instilling a sense of uncertainty in the generations of and following the war. Such fears are blatantly reflected by the first line of the song in which Pink asks his mother if they ll drop the bomb, referring to the apprehension of enemy retaliation. However, this line, as well as the majority of the lyrics, is open to a wide range of interpretation. Because of the psychological tendency to group people into two main categories (those like us and those apart from us, or the Other) coupled with the recent divisions of global powers in the war, one automatically assumes that the they Pink refers to is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this graph, the magnetic field (B) is equal to 1/B. As displayed in the graph, 1/B is inversely proportional to the distance from the field sensor to the rod (R), which allows the graph to correspond to the expression of the magnitude of the magnetic field (B) in a current carrying wire when there is a change in distance. The current (I) remains constant in this part. Lastly, in part 2 of this lab, we analyzed the magnetic field of the magnet. Magnets can exert a force at a distance, just like electric charges. Magnetic fields permeate space and are strongest near a permanent magnet (magnetic dipole) or electromagnet (electric dipole); therefore, the power supply and ammeter were not required in this part. Part 2, consisted of determining the relationship between the magnetic field strength and the distance from the magnet. The graph 1/B vs. R^3, is the most linear out of the three. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the Daeley Plaza. In fact, during her lifetime, Dickinson was seen as a reclusive woman who had failed to meet society s expectations. As a result of her peculiar life, Dickinson found poetryas an outlet to express her feelings, experiences, and philosophy. In Dickinson s The Soul selects her own Society , she discusses the concept of individuality, and how it affects people in relation to society. To begin, Dickinson writes The Soul selects her own Society / Then shuts the Door / To her divine Majority / Present no more (1 4). The act of someone selecting their own society , as described in this poem, is a metaphor for finding purpose and meaning in life, and discovering what they wants to do with their time on Earth. Shutting the door is a comment on commitment, and how one must be completely devoted to the society in which they have selected. When compared to Dickinson s own life, it appears that this poem is making a statement on Dickinson s choice to live in seclusion. The society in which Dickinson has selected is the world of poetry, which she enjoys in the comfort of her own room. She quite literally shuts the door behind her, as Dickinson rarely left her own room. As for her commitment to writing poetry, the fact that she wrote nearly 1,800 poems makes it very clear that she was devoted to the society she had selected. Furthermore, Dickinson writes Unmoved she notes the Chariots / At her low Gate / Unmoved an Emperor be kneeling / Upon her Mat (5 8). Similar to in vitro fertilization, cloned animals begin in a laboratory, but then are born to surrogate mothers. a)A similar survey by the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology in 2004 reported that about 65% of consumers had heard about animal cloning. 2.Animal cloning is a problem that many of us unknowingly approve of every day. They have been proven to reduce and prevent injury in the event of a car accident by keeping the passenger in their seat. In addition, seatbelts can extend and retract however, in the likelihood of a collision, the belt tightens up to hold the passenger in place so that they do not go through the windshield when the car goes to a sudden stop. The known skills shortage within the resource sector has been rising gradually desperate with 33,000 workers needed in Western Australia alone in the following year. Wayne Swan announced in the budget speech 2010 2011, a new Skills for Sustainable Growth Strategy. $661 million has been organised to be invested into the workforce and the education training systems to make them more responsive and flexible to the economic needs of the workforce. The government has responded to the skills shortage problem in the Australian labour market by introducing a strategy that will bring about 70,000 new training places for workers over the next 4 years. The provision of moral support for 22,500 young apprentices is also an attractive strategy to new workers. Social media is a great way to do so; salesmen or companies just have to post their product and information on their page, and all you need to do is check out a review or a video link and judge the product (Duda, 2011). Also, social media is a chance for companies to show people that their more than just a logo, it makes people feel that they re chatting with another person, not dealing with a faceless company. Believe it or not people tend to trust their friends more than their companies. But there s nothing that says your brand can t be their friend too (Duda, 2011). Two of which, they are both written by Robert Browning and from a male s point of view. The Duke in My Last Duchess gives off a controlling, jealous, and arrogant vibe towards the Duchess which results in her death. The man in Porphyria s Lover is angry and irritated because the woman he loves will not divorce her husband which also ends with her death. The poems My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover demonstrate two different relationships with women while both men view women as objects. The men in both poems use possessive language towards the women. Porphyria s Lover says, that moment she was mine, mine... (Porphyria line 26). This vividly portrays the man as controlling and overly possessive. He then comes up with a plan to kill her, so he can keep Porphyria in the moment because he knows he not have a future with her. Though there are many similarities between each faith as they are both Christian denominations, their differences cause much friction between the two groups. Some of the foundational Catholic beliefs revolve around the ideals that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that the Bible is the inspired, error free, revealed Word of God, and the existence of the Holy Trinity, which is one God in three persons. Evangelicals believe that they are justified or saved by faith alone, not by good works. Good works are not ignored and you will be rewarded in heaven for them but that is not what saves you in the eyes of an evangelical. Contrary to this belief Catholic hold to the ideal of baptism being the removal of sins and in turn God grants grace to those that are baptized. The grace given by God is then used to produce good works. Evangelicals believe and practice baptism however unlike Catholic they only practice adult baptism. Catholics practice infant baptism, which is an un biblically supported custom. Purgatory is another custom evangelicals reject. Catholics profess that there are two types of punishment, a temporary and eternal. Purgatory is pretty much a holding place for people that have only committed certain kinds of sins. For evangelicals believe that only God can forgive sins but Catholics claim that priests have been given authority to forgive sins, standing in place of the Holy Spirit. However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious imagery is not so much as in Songs of Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the clothes of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone to praise God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot understand this as he sings the notes of woe and not happiness. Waking Sleeping Beauty gives viewers an inside look from 1984 to 1994 when Disney reached the peak of The Disney Renaissance during this period of time, Disney produced some of their best animated movies. Although Disney was successful during this era, it took a lot of work for them to get to that stage. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Disney was put into shambles due to the death of Walt Disneyand his brother, Roy Disney. Simultaneously, Disney produced The Black Cauldron which proved to be a failure; not only was it expensive and made little return, it was beat out in the box office by The Care Bears Movie which was an embarrassment for Disney AnimationStudios. At this point in time Disney was a hopeless, downwards spiral on its way towards bankruptcy. Disney needed a leader that was willing to take charge and restore the company to its magical ways and beyond. Ultimately, Waking Sleeping Beauty answers the following question: After their downfall, how was Disney able to recover and produce successful movies in the 1980s and 1990s? The documentary has several responses to this question, but its main focus explains that Disney was able to thrive once again by hiring new personnel in leadership positions who were willing to lead Disney into The Disney Renaissance . He starts off his book by explaining what the Neo Europes are. They are a population who settled in the temperate zones and are mainly European descents. The questions he is attempting to explain is why there is a substantial mass of Europeans in these different lands which were so far flung from Europe. The European emigrants have scattered among many lands in the world, and have become the leading ethnic group in most regions outside of Europe. In addition, Crosby reflects on how the Neo Europes were able to provide vast food excess. His most important question though, is if European humans have triumphed because of their superiority in arms, organization and fanaticism... or Perhaps the success of European imperialism has a biological, an ecological, component. (p.7) Further in the book Crosby explains his questions to the readers. First and foremost, the history of the stone age is important. The first humans created stepping stones to create a different future that is today. Looking back in history there were massively giant creatures that we couldnt even imagine roaming the earth today. Dating back to the stone age they succeeded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Devil In The White City Analysis The Devil in the White City Throughout the book The Devil in The White City Larson creates a lot of suspense and conflicts in different manners, realism and naturalism are one of the biggest ones. This keep the reader wanting to know what happens in the end. • 53. Persuasive Essay On Being An Adult When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone as an adult, but that doesn t necessarily mean that they act like one. I think being an adult means, being able to support yourself; as in having a steady paying job, and most importantly being accountable to yourself. Being able to make your own decisions without asking a parentor model figure first, is an example of having an identity status of a moratorium. One with this type of mindset as a young adult, will weigh their options and consider their values and what they believe themselves, whether it s their own thoughtbranched off of their parents guidance, or it is completely their own ideaand they explore to see what their views are. On the other hand, for some, they rely on their parents approval, they may have an idea or opinion about a topic, but they will ask a parent or model figure in their life to seek guidance. The young adult wants the security of having the approval of a decision and being told what to do and pointed what direction to go towards. This is essentially making the decision for them. This type of identity status if called foreclosure. At a very young age, I was given the responsibility to take care of my youngest sister after school. I had to help her with her homework, make dinner for us both and put her to bed some days; and on top of that do my own homework and get my chores done. Both of my parents worked full time and I felt that I had the responsibility as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mary Rowlandson: A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin: The Autobiography Every literature story has an importance of a great leader or a survivor. There are apparent themes in this captivity narrative such as the doubt of life. The story of Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin wrote a narrative of their life experience and their adventure. They learn from the attack that no one is guaranteed life, and life can be short. There are clear contrast and comparison between these two individuals connected to their observation of God. In the colonial American time, religion was a vital part of life. Mary Rowlandson and her kids were captured by the Indian in the year 1676. In her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Franklin, stated, I had been religiously educated , I seldom attended any public Worship (562). Franklin formed his own fate in relation with his belief. The ideas he mission were righteousness, justice and belief that happiness may be found in worldly values. I believe both individual were establishing an identity free from the native land, although Rowlandson was taking away. In Franklin s Autobiography, he was seeking to establish a new identity for the new world. This parallels Rowlandson in that she at the end of her captivity has evolved into a new person. Although Rowlandson has placed her fate more in God s hand. Franklin suggested that man controls his own destiny but also makes reference throughout to God. I believe he must deal with his excessive pride, even as Rowlandson has dealt with her own vanity. Despite the cultural differences I learned a lot about Rowlandson and Franklin s time. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin was not an easy book to read. Benjamin Franklin was a remarkable man. He was a printer, author, politician and an inventor (PECO). Because of Franklins, this essay is being written about one of the men responsible for America s success today. The captivity narratives of Rowlandson served to define goodness and women s proper devotion to their religion, and to give a religious message about the value of faith in times of harsh conditions. The belief of Rowlandson and Franklin in God did help to form our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. What Is The Purpose Of Bureaucracy InJust Do What The... In the articles Just Do What the Pilot Tells You by Theodore Dalrymple and Genocidal Killer in the Mirror by Crispin Sartwell, the authors both support the claim that people appeal to authority through bureaucracy and hierarchy. A bureaucracy is a system of government where nearly most of the important decisions are made by state officials, rather than by an elected representative. Sartwell concludes that people included in the bureaucracy fixed the society to do what they wanted him to do and to react to things a certain kind of way, and Dalrymple understands that everyone has to answer to someone. For example, a teacher has to answer to the principle and the principal has to answer to the superintendent. So, like a hierarchy, everyone has to answer to someone. A hierarchy is a system or organization where people or groups are ranked one above the other according to their status or authority. While both provide some clarification of the same process, Sartwell believes that bureaucracies are the greatest evils of society. And while Dalrymple agrees on the topic, he asserts that nearly most of the time we should follow authority in a technologically advanced society. Dalrymple asserts that the interests of patients come from the hierarchy among doctors and that it s their job to take full responsibility for the care of their patients, Sartwell believes that those included in the bureaucracy mobilized a society to do what they wanted and react to things in a certain kind ...
