Winter At Valley Forge Analysis
Decision for Valley Forge
In Winter at Valley Forge, 1777 1778, I made a choice that I wouldn t be able to change
afterwards. I thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States
together. That is not a good thing. Valley Forge was only 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
This is where we will watch the British. I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are
because the army needs more soldiers, the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home.
My whole family took part of Boston Tea Partyin 1773 without me. This leads to the Declaration
of Dependence in 1776. That is when I knew I should re enlist because I can sense another war
coming . In 1777 is when we won the war in Trenton. More and more people ... Show more content

I liked how things are already I thought as I was getting ready for bed to think about re enlisting.
Paine 153 says Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right but
TO BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery,
then is there not such a thing as slavery upon Earth. If we don t win this war, our lives are going
to be full with expensive government that rule without pity. Tyranny, is like Hell, is not easily
conquered , yet we have this consolation with us, also said by Paine 153. You re worried about
your aging mom and you miss you friends and family. If you quit and go back home, you get to
live with taxes, tyranny, and fear. You and everyone you care about will be under this life. Far off,
possibly unlikely, there is victory. The reason victory seems far, is because there are few soldiers
that are fighting. I want to fight to make victory closer. This reason is pushing me to re enlist
because of what life would be back home. The choice to fight or not can will change on how you
and the people you care about live. I fell asleep so sure of my

Aristotle s Rhetoric Analysis
Even though the great philosopher Plato was Aristotle s teacher, their views on what good rhetoric
is or consists of differs. And not only that, the rhetoric that they use to convey those differences
greatly differs as well. In Plato s perspective, the art of speaking is only really art when it holds the
truth. His way of thinking derives from the importance he places on virtue. Aristotles view on the
other hand is based more so on logic. Aristotle is concerned more with the validity of the argument.
Although I do agree more with Aristotle s philosophyon rhetoric, I prefer Platos rhetoric. Plato s
view was much more easier and even enjoyable to understand because of his artistic use of
rhetoric; his use of dialogue, choice of characters,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato uses various anecdotes such as the salesperson selling the horse and the anecdote about the
strong coward and weak brave man. By doing this Plato is painting a picture in the reader s mind.
He is showing not telling. He is bringing abstract ideas and turning them into something that the
readers could relate too and understand better. The story telling strategy is extremely efficient
because it captures the reader s attention. It helps explain ideas and that is something that Aristotle s
writing could benefit from. Aristotle failed to include examples in his work. By including just a
couple anecdotes or examples he could have reduced the confusion and therefore made his
argument that much

Materials and methods The rocky intertidal zone of bailey s cottage, False Bay, South Africa
(Figure 1) was divided into four zones, namely; Sublittoral, Lower Balanoid, Upper Balanoid and

quadrats one quadrat was repeatedly used for all the zones). The study site was visited only once
due to certain constraints. On the day of sampling the prevailing weather conditions was pleasant,
with a partly cloudy sky and a maximum temperature of 17ВєC with a swell ranging from 1 2ft.

as looking and feeling good, avoiding many diseases. Eating healthy food is considered to be the
most important approach to leading a healthy lifestyle. There are many steps in the proceess of
being in a healthy lifestyle. In order to be in a healthy lifestyle poeple have to make healthier
choices in their life. First that you have to avoid anything that is not good for you and choose the

There are many foods in our diets today that are filled with sugar or unneccesary things that we
eat and we are unaware of. Our diets should be consisted of lots of vegetables and protein to be
able to live healthier and not having things such as too much oil or sugar and salt in our diets.
Another important strategy to use is to make sure not to overeat. According to an article on
Health.com research had been done in Japan and what they realized was that they would only
eat until they were 80 percent full. This helps them live longer and live healthier without feeling
overstuffed with food. To eating better you must able to see your food and that would be very
difficult if you are watching T.V. or your laptop while you are eating. Eating a meal with people

Iberians And Indigenous People In The 15th To 16th Century
Death. Rape. Torture. Enslavement. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples
endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish
empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the
Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoplesas naГЇve and inferior
because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of
Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the
Indigenous peoples were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of
the Indigenous peoples but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted
Christianity. Iberians had new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established
advanced societies and ways of life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians,
specifically Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of
the Americas, believed, ...they would easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed
(RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous peoples needed guidance as they were capable of
redemption and conversion. As a result of the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil, Iberians went as
far as to paint one of the first appearances of an Indigenous person in a European painting. In the
painting, Magi in Brazil by Vasco Fernandes

Gates Vs Cambridge Police Case Study
Gates vs. The Cambridge Police: The Cause of Controversy
On July 20, 2009 a police dispatcher received a call from a concerned woman who believed a
robbery was in progress. Lucia Whalen, the witness, reported seeing two black males with
backpacks trying to gain entry into the home. From there police were immediately sent to the
residence on Ware Street to investigate the situation. At around 12:45 P.M. Sergeant James
Crowley met with the woman who placed the 9 1 1 call. In the police report, he stated that he had
become aware of an older, black male standing in the foyer as he was speaking with Lucia Whalen

Everyone has an excuse to justify their inappropriate behavior but nobody wants point out others
faults out of fear of being known as intolerant or racist . Henry Gates attributed the incident to his
black skin, along with Barrack Obama, the black community and the media which circulated the
incident resulting in more racial conflict and division. If the Sergeant was indeed driven by
racist intent then the man who teaches diversity ethics to all the new cadets is in the wrong
profession and needs to reevaluate his call of duty. In conjunction to the officers actions to
continue to question the well known, Professor Gates, he could have been making an example of
the repercussions that ensue when you fail to comply and shout accusations based on bias.
Situations are going to arise that might not be fair, right or even believable. However, the way
you carry yourself through the trials will determine not only your character but it can also have a

Corpus Christi Research Paper
Corpus Christi is Really Unique!
All I knew about Corpus Christi, Texas, before I visited my step daughter, Michelle, and her
family there this summer was that it was a seaside vacation town on the Gulf of Mexico. I expected
to find a typical American beach resort, replete with masses of tourists and messy hedonistic
vitality. And, that s what I found in part.
Corpus Christi certainly deserves its reputation as a fun and entertaining place to vacation. And,
despite its size and its prominence as a south Texas cultural, industrial and tourist hub, I also
discovered that, if you get off the beaten path, you will find much more. The area offers a rare
combination of culture, history, industry, tourism, and conservation Corpus Christi really... Show

They are the only species of sea turtle that routinely lays eggs during daytime hours. And, they
often do so en masse, during a fascinating spectacle called an arribada ( arrival in Spanish).
The nesting season runs from April to Mid July. And, sometime between about 45 to 70 days after
being laid, the eggs hatch, and the little ones make the perilous journey across the beach, into the
surf, and eventually to the open ocean, desperately dodging predators along the way. Their survival
at this point depends on sheer numbers and making it to the water before the hungry seagulls and
crabs can snatch them up.
Mature females (10 14 years old) that survive will eventually return to the beach on which they
were born to lay their own eggs. When these new hatchlings emerge, they must make their way
across the sand to the ocean, just as their mothers did, in order to imprint the scents of that
particular beach on the females. In this way, they will know where to return to continue this cycle
of life that has endured for over 45 million years.

The Greek and Roman Mythos Analysis
The greeks believed that chaos and peace go hand in hand for peace can only exist with the
presences of chaos and vice versa, like many myths it carries a violent beginning which relates to
human nature. The Roman religion was more practical and less poetical than the Greek religion.
Every Roman god had something to do, some useful duty to perform. The Greek and Roman
Gods worshipped by the two nations had similar roles and duties. However, their names were
different. The religion of the Romans differed in some aspects from that of the Greeks, so much
as it was basically a state religion, and It was more of a ritual and a ceremony. It included most of
the gods of the Greek Pantheon, but was more comprehensive. The gods of both religions possess

Septic Trucks
Septic pumping is a job that can go one of two ways: poorly or well. With appropriate equipment
that is well maintained and right for the job, a job should be accomplished quickly and easily.
When vehicle parts are not maintained or used properly, problems may happen. Other than the
pumps, the main trouble with any new or used septic trucks that are part of a work fleet are the
results of improper use and maintenance of the hoses. Equipment Working Together In order to
achieve the most efficient vacuum in a tank that will give the pump the power for strong suction,
the tank and pump must be appropriately sized to work together; a bigger tank or pump does not
necessarily work any better. An incorrectly matched pump and tank can cause hose... Show more

When too small, material can create too much friction on the inside and get clogged; when too
large, there can be too much air flowing into the tube and tank to allow for proper vacuuming.
Keeping all connected lengths of hose the same diameter the entire length is important to prevent
blockages. Keeping Hoses Working Naturally, a dirty suction line that is allowed to collect
material inside it when not regularly and properly cleaned is going to have a problem siphoning
anything. This problem is frequently experienced after purchasing used septic trucks as it is
impossible to know if a previous owner cleaned the hoses correctly. At best, vacuuming could be
inefficient; at its worst, it could stop altogether when the lines get clogged. The answer is to always
keep hoses stored clean and empty, although there is a definite trick to doing this. Normally,
operators can clear out dirty suction lines by keeping the pump on even when done working in
order to clear out any remaining material left in the hose when the pumps were shut down. Once
there is nothing left to vacuum, the pumps will no longer suction as there is not a vacuum in the
tank, although the tubes should be empty at that

The Many Faces of Johnny Depp
Think of just one word to describe Johnny Depp. It s hard, isn t it? Johnny Depp is an actor that
brings such an electrifying presence to the big screen that no other actor has done before. This is
primarily due to the numerous characters that he s played throughout his acting career. His
characters range from dark and scary to hilarious and downright bizarre, and his ability to transform
himself into anyone and create such obscure and weird characters is amazingly remarkable. While
many actors only stick to what is comfortable for them, Johnny Deppis able to go above and beyond
with each role he receives. Actors like Jennifer Aniston or Adam Sandler tend to have very similar
characters in every part they play (D Arpino 2). You often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Johnny Depp, like many other actors, uses method acting as his main approach to role
preparation and character development. He has been known to [research] his roles assiduously
which is important to understanding a character s thoughts, emotions and characteristics
(Cannon 3). He has also been known to stay in character even outside filming which shows his
serious dedication to the roles he plays and is a technique used by some of the greatest actors of
this time, for example, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson (Grass 13). True
dedication to method acting is something that many actors can t obtain, because they don t care
enough about the role they re playing. Johnny Depp is an actor that strives for perfection and
always wants the best possible outcome. In an interview with Contactmusic.com, when asked
about method acting, Johnny Depp stated, it s fun to try to invent a character from the ground

Swastika Movie Analysis
This view is completely wrong. The movie does not show a divided community at all. In the later
part of the movie, we see that the majority of the town residents actually supported the removal of
the swastikas from the church s design. When the church reopened after the renovation, a huge
number of people showed up to the church to celebrate the fact that the swastika had been removed.
Many were emotional about it and said that they had wanted the swastika removed from the church
for a very long time but they never said anything.
Another positive thing this movie showed was how easily the Christian and Jewish communities
cooperated about removing the swastika from the church. Officials from the church and temple
Israel campaigned together to get the swastika removed. This shows that the issues involving race

To Do No Harm the Focus of Safety
In 1852 Florence Nightingale wrote It may seem a strange principle to enunciate as the very first
requirement in a hospital that it should do the sick no harm . The goal of any medical facility
should be that no preventable harm should befall the patient. Though this may seem to be an
obvious goal, this very goal took second place to medical and scientific advances. In 2000, the
article To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System published by the Institute of Medicine,
drew attention back to what had once been a foundational goal of patient safety when in the care of
the health system. Today, preventable medical errors responsible... Show more content on

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), an estimated 1.7 million infections resulting
in 99,000 deaths occur as a result of hospital acquired infections each year. The health care worker
s hands are the most common mode of transmission of healthcare associated pathogens. Hand
hygiene remains the leading preventive practice that can break the chain in the spread of hospital
infections. However, this problem is still one of the most overlooked preventive measures in patient
care. To improve the performance of hand hygiene among health care workers, performance barriers
such as time, forgetfulness, and poor access to hand hygiene materials need to be addressed.
Consistent performance improvement with this practice insures a reduction in infection rates and
is a major component not only of patient protection, but healthcare providers as well.
To err is human, but the health care system is working hard to decrease the frequency of this
occurring by applying knowledge gained from research to actual clinical practice. For example, the
prevention of medication errors is vital to patient safety. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA), defines medication errors as any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate
medication use or patient harm while the medication

Reality Check
Reality Check
Why do we tend to watch reality shows when we know nothing about the show is actual reality?
Most reality shows are scripted and portray a negative image on African American artist and
those in relationships. Reality TV shows tend to hook us in because of the drama, comedy and
music but if you take that all away would the shows really have any views? Reality TV shows
know exactly what kind of entertainment to display that will keep the audience hooked. For
example, there is a reality TV show that is called Love Hip Hop and on this show every female is
abused, messy, or egotistical. The director has scenes of drug abuse, alcohol, relationship advice
and everyday problems. These things tend to hook the audience in because of the negatives of
everything. For instance, we tend to tune in on the news only to hear today on 3000 block of NW

have even if it s a straying boyfriend or dealing with a man that has a child outside of the

In closing I would like for everyone to understand that yes this may be entertaining or you may
be able to relate to some of the reality in the scripted show but this reality show needs a reality
check! Reality is not something that is idealistic we don t actually live our lives the way that it is
portrayed on TV. Even reality TV stars lives aren t lived the way it is represented on that TV

biotechnology company to a mixed model that combines both biotechnology and traditional
breeding pipelines. Thinking broadly (not just Chromatin), what challenges and opportunities does
making a strategic pivot present for an entrepreneurial company? The decision to pivot from a
biotechnology company to a more vertically integrated seed company was likely one of the most
important decisions in the history of Chromatin. By inserting itself into the multi billion dollar
market for sorghum, the company vastly increased its potential for profit. However, the leaders of
Chromatin certainly did not take the decision likely. As Prof. Copenhaver outlined in his January 14
lecture, a vast number of factors needed to be taken into account before transitioning into
Chromatin s current business model. In the case of scientific ventures, operating as part of a
university offers an array of benefits: they can rely on its well maintained laboratories, its legal and
bureaucratic expertise, and its established relationships with insurers, bankers, and licensing
agencies. However, in order to use these services, scientific entrepreneurs must give a portion of

transition. Looking back, Chromatin s transition represents a successfully executed strategic pivot;

Analysis Of The Book The Principle
Selected lithograph Paper (Edited) The The Principle was lithographed in 1918 by the artist
named Oskar Kokoschka . The Principle is a stationary, bust sculpture like lithograph that depicts
a sad laughing clown. The lithograph seems like it takes place in a large bare room with the
clown bust gazing up and to the right of the room as if is pondering or thinking and has been for a
very long time which gives the bust like lithographylife.
The Principle, was published in 1919 on cream, smooth, Japanese woven paper. Was published by
Verlag Gustav Kiepenheuer from Berlin with the theme of death and war with political. The art
work has blood splatter all over it, especially from the mouth the meaning is war with the clown
face showing some type of comic sadness, and sadness is the heart of all comedy.
He was friends with a sculptor and critic named Adolf Loos, which influenced Oskar to turn
away from many of his old ways of decorative ideas and move on an expressive style of painting.
1910 he was in contact with many expressionist circles in Berlin, one specifically was Herwarth
Walden who pushed and spread his work out to many others. Oskar was in the Great War, he
volunteered for the Austrian Army when the war started, but was heavily wounded in 1915 and
left the army. From 1916 to 1931 a fellow named Paul Cassirer who supported and showed many of
Oskar works of art in his gallery and published many of his works, during this time Oskar had

Comparing The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Comparative Task Comparing The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde And Frankenstein
When comparing the similarities and differences between Mary Shelley s story of Frankenstein
and Robert Louis Stevenson s story of The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde , it was
found that although the characters in both stories suffer an unhealthy obsession/addiction to
their scientific work and even though both Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll had good intentions for
their creations, the outcome of the Monster and Mr. Hyde were practically opposites of one
another. The characters in both Frankenstein and The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
suffer an unhealthy obsession/addiction to their scientific work and revenge. In Stevenson s
story of The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde , the character Dr. Jekyll is dominated by
his narcotic and relentless need to settle his unhealthy craving for larger quantities of the potion
which turns him into the evil and cruel Mr. Hyde. The main protagonist states his fail when he
says ...and it was as an ordinary secret sinner that I at last fell before the assaults of temptation.
Throughout the novel and movies produced, there are detailed events in which Mr. Hyde is
portrayed as a raving addict. Dr. Jekyll not greeting his friend Utterson, showed the audience that
Dr. Jekyll s lack of the substance sent him spiralling into a sort of depression and down period. Like
any drug or alcohol addicted person, this was due to his

Statue Of Liberty
I will be writing my essay about a painting by Zineb Trifi Sjahsam named America. What is the
symbolic meaning of the Statue of Liberty? What is the interpretation of the Constitution? Of
course, I learned about the Statue of Liberty and the Constitution in grade school and what it is

we really see? Now sure, people aren t walking around still referring to their boss as masta or
being put into concentration camps because of their beliefs, but sure enough people are being
targeted because of their beliefs in different forms now days. I choose this painting because in the

The artist uses the vertical and horizontal line to create a border which focuses the audience
attention on the Statue of Liberty. The artist uses implied lines all throughout the painting. The

implied lines are both used at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty to communicate the stability of
the Statue of Liberty. Irregular lines and directional line are also used in the painting to express
freedom and draw the audience attention to different areas of the painting. I believe the simple
color of black paint and the tan cannabis resembles the famous tan paper and black ink used to
write the constitution. The constitution paper is old and wrinkled the artist used a combination of
white and tan brush strokes to create a similar wrinkled paper. In the painting the artist uses shapes

The Effects of Violence in Beloved Essay
1 Literature concerning the lives of African Americans during and after slavery explores the many
horrific acts of violence. Violence manifests itself in people both physically and psychologically.
Physical wounds may heal over time, but it is the emotional scarring that begins to take a toll on
the human mind. The novel, Beloved, by Toni Morrisonrevolves around the character of Sethe, an
African American woman who recently escaped from a slave plantation. Sethe s home on 124
Bluestone Road is haunted by her daughter, Beloved, whom Sethe murdered in order to keep her
from the life of slavery. Toni Morrison s novel, Beloved, explores both the uses and effects of
violence through multiple characters.

According to Sethe s theory of time, past traumas continue to reenact themselves indefinitely, so
it is possible to stumble into someone else s unhappy memory. This becomes evident in Chapter
3, when Denver recalls what Sethe once told about the indestructible nature of the past, ...If you
go there you who was never there if you go there and stand in the place where it was, it will
happen again; it will be there, waiting for you ...Even though it s all over over and done with it s
going to always be there waiting for you (Beloved). Although Sethe describes for Denver what
was, she turns to the future tense and tells her that the past will always be there waiting for you.
Sethe pictures the past as a physical presence, something that is there, that fills a space. Therefore
leaving Denver to believe that she too will undergo the same brutality her mother once faced.
Beloved s arrival confirms Denver s notion of history repeating itself. Sethe repeats her warning
multiple times in a manner that demonstrates her inability to leave past thoughts of violence
behind. Sethe displacing her past on Denver s present, and future are the main cause of why
Denver s fears of leaving 124 and of the community.

Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Lady With The Dog
For Goodness Sake, Have Faith in Humanity
Humans have a natural ability to know what is right and just and what is wrong. However, people
are tempted on a regular basis, and often times people choose to go against what is right for what
they want at the moment. Nathaniel Hawthorne describes the struggle of one man with his personal
temptations in the short story, Young Goodman Brown. Through a trip into the woods on a dark,
gloomy night, Young Goodman Brown battles between what he knows is right and what sparks
his curiosity what the others and doing in the woods the same theme portrayed in Anton
Chekhov s The Lady with the Dog. In this short story, Young Goodman Brown loses his faith in
humanity s ability to do good when he is convinced the great lie by the dark one . Young
Goodman Brown (YGB) is tempted by the devil throughout the story to remind the reader what
is feeding the lie to him. The dark one is an allegory to the devil, dressed darkly with a serpent
shaped staff. Young Goodman Brown discusses why he thinks he is making a mistake when the
dark one tells him that it is okay to go into the woods because his father and grandfather both did
before him. This statement by the traveller begins a whirlwind of a mixture of lie and truth,
confusing Young Goodman Brown. While he is tempted with the concept of everybody s doing it,
the reader realizes that just because others before us have made mistakes does not mean the
mistakes are justifiable for us to

Nationalism is sovereignty of people and emotional attachment to the nation. Nationalism stands for
loyalty to a nation through collective consciousness of shared history, language, race, values,

slavery and sectional attitudes
DBQ #5: Slavery and Sectional Attitudes, 1830 1860
During the mid 1800 s many Americans began to have mix feelings over the issue of slavery.
Many northern Americans believed that slavery was morally wrong and that it was an evil.
Southerners on the other hand believed it was a good for the economy as well as for commerce.
This great split of attitudes between the north and the south eventually led to threat of the civil war.
The North saw the issue of slavery as an evil. They believed that slavery was an impurity that
became accustomed to life in America, in which made other systems of commerce forgotten. In a

The Voice of Reason in Tartuffe by Jean-Baptiste Poquelin...
Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere wrote Tartuffe during the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment.
One of the main characteristics of the Age of Enlightenment was a push towards using reason over
emotions to make decisions. The leaders of the enlightenment truly believed that the world could be
made a better place if people did this. In Tartuffe, when the characters use their emotions to make
their decisions they find themselves in undesirable situations. While those who let their emotions
rule them find their lives spinning out of control, there are other characters in the play who try to
approach them with reason and logic. Out of these characters the lady s maid Dorine stands out as
the voice of reason.

I m far less awed;/ In fact, I see right through him. He s a fraud. (I.1.69 70) Dorine s blunt words
carry more weight than the other characters in this scene for several reasons. Dorine represents
the average person more than anyone else in the play. She is not highly educated like Cleante and
she did not have the upbringing that the other characters did. For someone in her position, a lady s
maid, to see the truth so clearly, it exaggerates the absurdity that Orgon and Madame Pernelle do
not. In Dramatic Justice in Tartuffe, Myrna Kogan Zwillenberg wrote, To be sure, MoliГЁrehas
taken the precaution of signaling such incidents by having the servant Dorine express her
exaggerated moral outrage, a significant device which pinpoints the areas meant to be ridiculous.
(Myrna Kogan Zwillenberg 1)
It seems that Moliere was more than likely making a statement with Dorine s character, that
anyone can use their common sense. It does not take a college education or fine upbringing to
see through the mask that some people present themselves with. Dorine was his way of
encouraging others to see what lies are right in front of their face. The play was very
controversial for the time it was written in, and in fact had to be rewritten in order for it to be
performed. Moliere also had to petition for permission for Tartuffe to be performed. There are
several political views hidden in the lines.

Tesla Motors, Inc. Essay
Tesla Motors, Inc. was founded in 2003 and joined the automobile industry out of Silicon Valley.
The company is located in 30 different countries with 18 stores worldwide (Mangram, 2012, p.

automobiles. The company began designing, manufacturing, and marketing battery electric vehicles
(BEVs) making Tesla the only manufacturer to sell a zero emission sports car, the Tesla Roadster
(Mangram, 2012, p. 296). Tesla manufactured luxury electric vehicles such as Model S, Model X,
and the soon to be released Model 3 (Eisler, 2016, p. 35). With different automobilemanufactures
entering the BEV market, Tesla Motors, Inc. must conduct a SWOT analysis of the company.
SWOT stands for the company s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (Abraham,

opportunities and threats analyze the external aspects. The SWOT assesses the strengths of Tesla
Motors derived from technological advancements, global branding, and market adoption
considering the BEV industry is relatively young compared to the engine powered industry

The Road Brown V. Board Of Education Of Topeka ( 347 U.s.
Historical Setting The road to Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (347 U.S. 74 (1954)), is
littered with many Supreme Court cases that have battled for equality in education. The
Fourteenth Amendment strengthened the legal rights of newly slaves and became the
stomping ground for many Supreme Court decisions. There were six separate cases concerning
the issue of segregation in public schools that was heard and consolidated into the one case
named Brown v. Board of Education. The cases included were Brown v. Board of Education
(347 U.S. 483), Briggs v. Elliott (342 U.S. 497), Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward
County (347 U.S. 483), Bolling v. Sharpe (347 U.S. 497), Belton v. Gebhart (347 U.S. 483) and
Bulah v. Gebhart, (347 U.S. 483), which discussed the implications of segregation in public
school. The Brown case decision could not have happened prior to 1954 if these cases had not
set a precedent for violations of the Fourteenth Amendment under the equal protection clause. In
the case Plessy v. Fergguson (163 U.S. 537(1896)), this case was responsible for the separate but
equal doctrine, where segregation began. In the case, Sweatt v. Painter (339 U.S. 629), African
American law students fought for an equal opportunity education. These cases also helped set the
precedent for the Brown v. Board of Education case. In the case, Missouri ex rel Gaines v. Canada

that it s night and Juliet looks out her balcony as Romeo leaves her house. Although the Luhrmann
film depiction during the balcony scene was in a lavish house which would have never been seen

Personal Crime Theory
Personal Theory of Crime
There are many reasons as to why someone may commit crimes. No two people are exactly alike
so I don t believe there is a one size fits all theory of crime. You have to assess people on a case
by case basis to really understand why each person commits crime. There may be more than one
factor in some person s case that contributes to why they committed a crime; Factors such as, peer
influence, family situations, financial situations, mental disorders, and sometimes religious
beliefs or cultural differences. These to me are categories most reasons people commit crimes
may fall under. Peer influence can be from friends, family members, coworkers. I think the
reason behind many of crimes committed by teens is who they associate themselves with.
Wanting to fit in with peers who commit crimes to be cool, or just because all their friends are
doing it. Gangs also fall into this category; a lack of a strong family life can lead to a young man

The Rise And Fall Of The Kray Twins
LEGEND The rise and fall of the Kray twins
Introduction
In Brian Helgeland s movie Legend with Tom Hardy in both main roles, you cannot only expect
violence, fist fights, shootings and hot cars but also a tragically lovely romance between a mafia
boss from East London and his spouse.
Legend is a typical crime thriller portraying the life of the Kray twins, with all its difficulties.
However, Helgeland does not just explore the hard underground of London in the 1960s, he also
picks up on homosexual topics. All in all, the director shoot a typical crime thriller, sometimes even
in kind of an absurd and humoristic way, not to mention the cute typical British mother of the hard
men, serving them cake and tea.

Theme
Helgeland tries to understand the bonds that unite the two brothers. Two inseparable, bound by
blood and who love each other as much as they hate each other. Because in the face of Ronald s
madness (with paranoid schizophrenia) and his excessive violence that will slowly destroy their
empire, Reggie will be unable to keep control until everything collapses like a house of cards.

Although it offers notable subtleties and a fascinating approach to the fraternal relationship, the

Weathering And Erosion Of Soft Rocks
Soft rocks are very important geomaterials since they are heavily used in construction for example,
buildings, road and dams but they sometimes seem to cause some problems due to their
sedimentary properties like fast weathering and low strength. Weathering is a process in which rock
break down or dissolve with the help of natural agents. Weatheringand erosionare constantly
changing the earth s surface, so that has a big impact on construction and usage of soft rocks over
time. Weathering can be either mechanical or chemical. Some regions in the world mainly possess
weak sedimentary rocks and very low in other stronger rocklike igneous or metamorphic. Because
of the these weak characteristics, it might be tough to use soft rocks especially since some
methods and systems are made mainly for hard rocks. These issues that we are dealing with lead to
the need of the understanding of soft rocks, how they work and how to prevent them from breaking
up and crumbling in order to maximize their usage.
Weathering and Erosion
Weathering is the process where rocks and minerals break down or dissolve into smaller pieces and
fragments. Erosion is then the transportation of weathering remains. This is done with the help of
natural agents such as water, wind, animals..etc. It all depends on the composition of the rock,
different agents such as temperature change and rainfall amount. Water for examples is the most
common, like when it seeps in the pores of rocks, freezes overnight and

Farmworkers will not be able to keep up with the supply and demand of food that will be needed in
the future. In Karl Grossman s article, Locavore Movement Overlooks Farmworkers, he
describes the way that the locavore movement works. It is a great system, but it will never work
out because of the supply and demand that would be needed in order to provide for the
population. Within the article he states, small farms like their factory farms counterparts, are
largely staffed by noncitizens, immigrant workers. Through this statement he shows that even
now there is not enough staff to produce food for the seven billion people now, and if there is an
extra two billion people on Earth there is no way that the farmworkers could keep up with the
supply and demand. With the farmers not going to be able to provide the food that is needed
locally, they should start using the stem cells from their animals and create locally grown
synthetic meat, and thus they will not only be able to keep up with the supply and demand but
save animals in the process. Not only will they save lives they will know what is being put into

Definition Of Success As Kaya Clow Sees
Success As Kaya Clow Sees it Success is in the eye of the beholder. The definition of success has
many meanings. It could mean how high a person reaches in their career, how well they do in
school, how fit they are, how smart they are, how beautiful or handsome they are and even how
much money they make. Success to me is being happy with who I am and not to try be someone
else. I don t have to be the best athlete, the prettiest girl in the class or on earth or the smartest,
most intelligent kid on the planet. Success is doing your best with what you have in life. I would
like to get high marks in all my classes at Craig Kielburger and university. However, if I can look
at myself in the mirror and say, I honestly did my best then

Why Do Airbags Make Seat Belts Unnecessary
Some people believe that airbags make seat belts unnecessary. They argue that seat belts are
pointless because an airbag will cushion one s impact with the steering wheel or dashboard.
Although convenient to believe, this isn t true. Air bags are designed to supplement seat belts and
are not a substitute for them. Seat belts are restraint devices that keep the person in position
during a crash while airbags are a cushion for the face. Specifically, they are meant to cushion the
face of a seat belted person. More details on this distinction are discussed next.
Airbags Alone May Cause Severe Injury
Without a seat belt, the motorist s face impacts the airbag while the rest of his body continues
moving forward underneath it. This may cause neck

Mark Twain S The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Is More
Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is more than just a condemnation of pre civil
war society and its justification of slavery. Twain also uses the novel to challenge the validity of
superstition. The main characters, Huckleberry and Jim, are mere marionettes for Twain to express
his censure through; he mocks them with their own fears and distortion of superstition. Twain s
representation of superstition throughout the book is indicative of his own thoughts towards the
subject.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
. Set in
nineteenth century rural Missouri, it follows the story of an unlikely pair of runaways, Huck and
Jim, a battered white boy and a slave. Jim, tired of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
... However, violence was commonplace, and young Sam witnessed much death: When he was 9
years old, he saw a local man murder a cattle rancher, and at 10 he watched a slave die after a
white overseer struck him with a piece of iron. (Biography) These deaths had a profound impact on
Samuel, the slave s death would invoke his sympathies on the issue of slavery, a subject he was
vehemently against in Huck Finn. Huck treats Jim like an equal and at a time, he looks to Jim
for comfort and guidance when they find his father dead on a fishing boat. Samuel s childhood
town and its proximity to the Missouri river also influenced his writing. His pen name is actually
derived from a boating term and Missouri and its rivers were the primary settings of Huck Finn
and its predecessor, Tom Sawyer. Hannibal, Missouri was far behind in development compared to
other western towns. Its amenities were rudimentary as where its beliefs. The town, like much of
Missouri, still believed in superstition. But not Samuel, he was a well read boy. He rejected the
conventions of the time, slavery and superstition, and used The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to
mock them.
Jim is a black man and a runaway slave[;] he is at the mercy of almost all the other characters in
the novel and is often forced into ridiculous and degrading situations. .... Jim is superstitious and
occasionally sentimental, but he is also

Research Paper On Sulfur
I choose Sulfur because of it s bright yellow color which really catches your attention. I also found
it very interesting how much damage sulfur really is to the human. Plus is a very hard element to
locate due to the fact that it can mainly be found by hot springs or volcanoes. Sulfur, also spelled
sulphur, is a chemical elementwith the symbol S and atomic number of 16. It is an abundant non
metaland at room temperature is a bright yellow crystalline solid. Chemically, sulfur combines with
all elements except for gold, platinum, iridium, nitrogen, tellurium, iodine, and the noble gases.
Sulfur forms over 30 solid allotropes, more than any other element. Allotropes are different forms in
which an element can exist. I picked this element because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result of this Sulfur is the 10th most abundant element in the universe. Sulfur, typically in
the form of sulfide, is present in many types of meteorites. The distinctive color of Jupiter s
volcanic moon Io are caused by various forms of molten, solid, and gaseous sulfur. On Earth,
elemental sulfur can be found near hot springs and volcanic areas in many parts of the world.
Sulfur is commonly mined in Indonesia, Chile, and Japan. Historically Sicily, Italy was a large
source of sulfur in the Industrial Revolution. Sulfur can be found in salt deposits along the Gulf of
Mexico and evaporites in eastern Europe and western Asia. Native sulfur may be produced by
geological processes alone. Fossil based sulfur deposits were until recently the basis of commercial
production in the United States, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine. Currently commercial

Research Paper On Jason s Secret Plan
Jason s Secret Plan It is present day in a small town known as Salem, MA. Its getting closer and
closer to Halloween. I see the leaves are beginning to change, the nights are getting cooler, the
sounds of tractors in the field harvesting crops, the sight of pumpkins everywhere decorating
houses with faces and designs carved into them surround the neighborhood. Salem, MA is a
very quiet town where everyone knows everyone and everyone gets along, for the most part. On
my way back from the grocery store there is a detour for road construction. I end up having to
take a very dark back road. I see an abandoned insane asylum. The idea that has been fresh in my
mind for some time comes to my head instantly. I pull up in front of the old building and think
about how in my plan I want to create a haunted houseto kill the people that who attend it looking
for a good time and to display their dead bodies as part of the attraction yet unknown to them.
That this will be the very place that I will create and finish my plan. There are multiple small trap
rooms with creepy cages in the middle creating a haunted house for the public that is going to
become my organized plan hoping that no mistakes come along to mess it up. I leave and head
home to start organizing the events that are about to happen. While I m working on the ideas and
making decorations that will fill the hauntedhouse I hear a quiet knock at the front door. I jump in
fear that my plan may could be ruined. I walk

How Did Monarchs Influence The Tudor Period
From nine days to forty five years, the reigns of the monarchs during the Tudor period were
different and impactful. This period in England between 1485 and 1603 was home to many of
the great monarchs, nobles, and civilians of the world. The monarchs in Tudor England shaped
the period that is known so well today for its culture and power. They controlled the religion,
military, and culture in a way that was unrivaled by anyone in their time. The monarchs shaped the
Tudor period into a time remembered for culture, war, and religion in a way that nobles and
civilians could not match. The Tudor period of England was home to many monarchs that each
changed England in very different ways. The first monarch of this period was King Henry VII. He...

She was the eldest daughter of Henry Grey and Lady Frances Brandon, a great granddaughter of
Henry VII. She was very well educated and raised a devout Protestant so that she could marry

would take over the throne. As a devout Protestant, Lady Jane Grey wanted to keep the Church
of England and not let Mary gain power. When Edward VI died, Lady Jane Grey was only queen
for nine days before the popular Mary took the throne and imprisoned her in the Tower of
London. Under Mary s rule, England was changed back to Catholic. Lady Jane Grey was
executed on February 12, 1554. Her life story has influenced many cultural novels, plays, painting,

Motherhood And Citizenship At Love Canal Analysis
This document, Recipe for Disaster: Motherhood and Citizenship at Love Canal, holds focus to
the decades between 1960 1980 s in which the residents of Niagara Falls, New York faced a large
problem of toxic waste surrounding their homes. Its author, Amy M. Hay, reveals specific
characteristics about the area such as homes being built on the toxic land in addition to the toxins
taking a toll on the environment. In the Love Canal as it is nicknamed, children are constantly
falling to illnesses , mothers seem to keep falling victim to miscarriages, and residents are faced
with the dilemma of deciding between leaving or remaining in their homes at the Loving Canal.
Correspondingly, all of the aforementioned seems to be happening on a constant... Show more

Moreover, it is through this document that Hay does a great job of simply expressing the struggles
and health issues citizens in the Loving Canal faced and decided to ultimately deal with.
Additionally, it is noted that Hay seems to argue that even though some of these citizens went
through illness and later death, they were unable to convince the government to compensate them
for new homes and pay for relocation, however they were successful in getting the government and
health departments attention which made for a very influential change that would affect not only
them, but all of American cities who encountered chemical toxins and

For example, Italy is such an amazing place to go to, either for vacation or to live there. There are
many mesmerizing things in Italy that can catch anyone s attention, such as going to museums, or
go sightseeing. The weather changes throughout the year, but it s still marvelous for tourist to go
out and do activities. There is many different types of things a tourist could do while in Italy. If the
tourist likes to visit museums while they are in vacation there is a variety of them. Some of the
museums they could visit the Galleria delgi Uffizi it is an art museum located in Florence, Italy.

It changes a lot throughout the year, but it is rare for Italy to have really high temperatures
compared to other places. It is great weather for the tourist to do many outdoors activities that
would be fun, enjoyable and unforgettable for everyone. The Colosseum would be a great activity
to do, visiting the place where the gladiators once fought. It would be also absolutely perfect
with the weather in Italy, since it won t be extremely hot. The Grand Canal tour is a lovely boat
ride that takes you on a tour of Italy. It is a breath taking and unforgettable tour that no one ever
wants to miss. The great part of the tour is learning little pieces of the history of some places and
routes that no one takes in Italy and also learning the background of things that the tour guide tells
you and the fun facts makes everything better. The best part is that if it is a group of 8 people
they could all fit in one boat and enjoy the ride together

Dramaturgical Approach By Erving Goffman
Erving Goffman presented the theory of the dramaturgical approach. In general, it insinuates that
people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a stage. People adjust how they
act depending on the situation or audience that is present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an
individual enters the presence of others they seek to obtain information on the other people and
incorporate information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define the
situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour and the way they
present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to the situation, they can take clues
about one another from their appearance and mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about
people in certain social settings with the presumption that only certain people will be found there.
Goffman s theory is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school
classroom to depict this throughout the essay.
The individual putting on the performance yearns for the observers to wholeheartedly believe the
impression being given off. They want their observers to believe that they truly possesses these
attributes and qualities they appear to have. Depending on the ... Show more content on

manner, so that they are perceived in a way that meets society s expectations, and however they
personally would like to be seen. This theory is very relevant in today s world, embodied through
the situation of a teacher and their students in a classroom used throughout the

  • 2. Winter At Valley Forge Analysis Decision for Valley Forge In Winter at Valley Forge, 1777 1778, I made a choice that I wouldn t be able to change afterwards. I thought that Paris is more excited for the revolution than all of the United States together. That is not a good thing. Valley Forge was only 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. This is where we will watch the British. I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are because the army needs more soldiers, the conditions at camp, and what would be life back at home. My whole family took part of Boston Tea Partyin 1773 without me. This leads to the Declaration of Dependence in 1776. That is when I knew I should re enlist because I can sense another war coming . Paine 153 says Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right but TO BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon Earth. If we don t win this war, our lives are going to be full with expensive government that rule without pity. Tyranny, is like Hell, is not easily conquered , yet we have this consolation with us, also said by Paine 153. You re worried about your aging mom and you miss you friends and family. If you quit and go back home, you get to live with taxes, tyranny, and fear. You and everyone you care about will be under this life. Far off, possibly unlikely, there is victory. The reason victory seems far, is because there are few soldiers that are fighting. I want to fight to make victory closer. This reason is pushing me to re enlist because of what life would be back home. The choice to fight or not can will change on how you and the people you care about live. • 3. Aristotle s Rhetoric Analysis Even though the great philosopher Plato was Aristotle s teacher, their views on what good rhetoric is or consists of differs. And not only that, the rhetoric that they use to convey those differences greatly differs as well. In Plato s perspective, the art of speaking is only really art when it holds the truth. His way of thinking derives from the importance he places on virtue. Aristotles view on the other hand is based more so on logic. Aristotle is concerned more with the validity of the argument. Although I do agree more with Aristotle s philosophyon rhetoric, I prefer Platos rhetoric. Plato s view was much more easier and even enjoyable to understand because of his artistic use of rhetoric; his use of dialogue, choice of characters,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato uses various anecdotes such as the salesperson selling the horse and the anecdote about the strong coward and weak brave man. By doing this Plato is painting a picture in the reader s mind. He is showing not telling. He is bringing abstract ideas and turning them into something that the readers could relate too and understand better. The story telling strategy is extremely efficient because it captures the reader s attention. It helps explain ideas and that is something that Aristotle s writing could benefit from. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoplesas naГЇve and inferior because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the Indigenous peoples were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of the Indigenous peoples but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted Christianity. Iberians had new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established advanced societies and ways of life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians, specifically Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of the Americas, believed, ...they would easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed (RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous peoples needed guidance as they were capable of redemption and conversion. With appropriate equipment that is well maintained and right for the job, a job should be accomplished quickly and easily. When vehicle parts are not maintained or used properly, problems may happen. Other than the pumps, the main trouble with any new or used septic trucks that are part of a work fleet are the results of improper use and maintenance of the hoses. Keeping Hoses Working Naturally, a dirty suction line that is allowed to collect material inside it when not regularly and properly cleaned is going to have a problem siphoning anything. This problem is frequently experienced after purchasing used septic trucks as it is impossible to know if a previous owner cleaned the hoses correctly. At best, vacuuming could be inefficient; at its worst, it could stop altogether when the lines get clogged. The answer is to always keep hoses stored clean and empty, although there is a definite trick to doing this. Normally, operators can clear out dirty suction lines by keeping the pump on even when done working in order to clear out any remaining material left in the hose when the pumps were shut down. Once there is nothing left to vacuum, the pumps will no longer suction as there is not a vacuum in the tank, although the tubes should be empty at that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prevention Of A Safer Health System To Do No Harm the Focus of Safety Baker School of Nursing To Do No Harm the Focus of Safety In 1852 Florence Nightingale wrote It may seem a strange principle to enunciate as the very first requirement in a hospital that it should do the sick no harm . The goal of any medical facility should be that no preventable harm should befall the patient. Though this may seem to be an obvious goal, this very goal took second place to medical and scientific advances. In 2000, the article To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System published by the Institute of Medicine, drew attention back to what had once been a foundational goal of patient safety when in the care of the health system. Hand hygiene remains the leading preventive practice that can break the chain in the spread of hospital infections. However, this problem is still one of the most overlooked preventive measures in patient care. To improve the performance of hand hygiene among health care workers, performance barriers such as time, forgetfulness, and poor access to hand hygiene materials need to be addressed. Consistent performance improvement with this practice insures a reduction in infection rates and is a major component not only of patient protection, but healthcare providers as well. To err is human, but the health care system is working hard to decrease the frequency of this occurring by applying knowledge gained from research to actual clinical practice. Thinking broadly (not just Chromatin), what challenges and opportunities does making a strategic pivot present for an entrepreneurial company? The decision to pivot from a biotechnology company to a more vertically integrated seed company was likely one of the most important decisions in the history of Chromatin. By inserting itself into the multi billion dollar market for sorghum, the company vastly increased its potential for profit. However, the leaders of Chromatin certainly did not take the decision likely. As Prof. Copenhaver outlined in his January 14 lecture, a vast number of factors needed to be taken into account before transitioning into Chromatin s current business model. In the case of scientific ventures, operating as part of a university offers an array of benefits: they can rely on its well maintained laboratories, its legal and bureaucratic expertise, and its established relationships with insurers, bankers, and licensing agencies. The Principle is a stationary, bust sculpture like lithograph that depicts a sad laughing clown. The lithograph seems like it takes place in a large bare room with the clown bust gazing up and to the right of the room as if is pondering or thinking and has been for a very long time which gives the bust like lithographylife. One of the main characteristics of the Age of Enlightenment was a push towards using reason over emotions to make decisions. In Tartuffe, when the characters use their emotions to make their decisions they find themselves in undesirable situations. It does not take a college education or fine upbringing to see through the mask that some people present themselves with. Dorine was his way of encouraging others to see what lies are right in front of their face. The Fourteenth Amendment strengthened the legal rights of newly slaves and became the stomping ground for many Supreme Court decisions. There were six separate cases concerning the issue of segregation in public schools that was heard and consolidated into the one case named Brown v. Board of Education. The cases included were Brown v. Board of Education (347 U.S. 483), Briggs v. Elliott (342 U.S. 497), Davis v. County School Board of Prince Edward County (347 U.S. 483), Bolling v. There may be more than one factor in some person s case that contributes to why they committed a crime; Factors such as, peer influence, family situations, financial situations, mental disorders, and sometimes religious beliefs or cultural differences. Weathering And Erosion Of Soft Rocks Soft rocks are very important geomaterials since they are heavily used in construction for example, buildings, road and dams but they sometimes seem to cause some problems due to their sedimentary properties like fast weathering and low strength. Weathering is a process in which rock break down or dissolve with the help of natural agents. Weatheringand erosionare constantly changing the earth s surface, so that has a big impact on construction and usage of soft rocks over time. Weathering can be either mechanical or chemical. Some regions in the world mainly possess weak sedimentary rocks and very low in other stronger rocklike igneous or metamorphic. Because of the these weak characteristics, it might be tough to use soft rocks especially since some methods and systems are made mainly for hard rocks. These issues that we are dealing with lead to the need of the understanding of soft rocks, how they work and how to prevent them from breaking up and crumbling in order to maximize their usage. Weathering and Erosion Weathering is the process where rocks and minerals break down or dissolve into smaller pieces and fragments. Erosion is then the transportation of weathering remains. This is done with the help of natural agents such as water, wind, animals..etc. It all depends on the composition of the rock, different agents such as temperature change and rainfall amount. Through this statement he shows that even now there is not enough staff to produce food for the seven billion people now, and if there is an extra two billion people on Earth there is no way that the farmworkers could keep up with the supply and demand. With the farmers not going to be able to provide the food that is needed locally, they should start using the stem cells from their animals and create locally grown synthetic meat, and thus they will not only be able to keep up with the supply and demand but save animals in the process. Not only will they save lives they will know what is being put into the meat since they would be the ones making it. It is better to have synthetic meat created from stem cells in machines because machines are better than humans. Students don t see the point of continuing their education when most of the time they don t understand or don t relate to the information that is being presented to them. Most of the time students rather be out in the streets with their peers causing havoc, than being inside a classroom. Typically, this often occurs in urban areas where the schoolpopulation usually consists of students with culturally diverse backgrounds. They argue that seat belts are pointless because an airbag will cushion one s impact with the steering wheel or dashboard. Although convenient to believe, this isn t true. Air bags are designed to supplement seat belts and are not a substitute for them. Seat belts are restraint devices that keep the person in position during a crash while airbags are a cushion for the face. Specifically, they are meant to cushion the face of a seat belted person. More details on this distinction are discussed next. Mark Twain S The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Is More Mark Twain s the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is more than just a condemnation of pre civil war society and its justification of slavery. Twain also uses the novel to challenge the validity of superstition. The main characters, Huckleberry and Jim, are mere marionettes for Twain to express his censure through; he mocks them with their own fears and distortion of superstition. Twain s representation of superstition throughout the book is indicative of his own thoughts towards the subject. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer . However, violence was commonplace, and young Sam witnessed much death: When he was 9 years old, he saw a local man murder a cattle rancher, and at 10 he watched a slave die after a white overseer struck him with a piece of iron. Huck treats Jim like an equal and at a time, he looks to Jim for comfort and guidance when they find his father dead on a fishing boat. Samuel s childhood town and its proximity to the Missouri river also influenced his writing. Hannibal, Missouri was far behind in development compared to other western towns. Its amenities were rudimentary as where its beliefs. The town, like much of Missouri, still believed in superstition. • 48. Dramaturgical Approach By Erving Goffman Erving Goffman presented the theory of the dramaturgical approach. In general, it insinuates that people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a stage. People adjust how they act depending on the situation or audience that is present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an individual enters the presence of others they seek to obtain information on the other people and incorporate information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define the situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour and the way they present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to the situation, they can take clues about one another from their appearance and mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about people in certain social settings with the presumption that only certain people will be found there. Goffman s theory is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school classroom to depict this throughout the essay.
