The Police Force Is Justified
A police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect
property, and limit civil disorder . Or in layman s terms, a body formed to serve and protect civilians.
With the Ferguson incident of an African American boy getting shot by a white American police
officer, it came to the limelight that how America s police force has gone to the extent of acquiring
military grade equipment, armor, gear .With sheer ignorance, unreasonable argument and lack of
reliable citation sources, Fox News conveys how the militarization of the police force is justified.
Ironically this militarization is supposedly necessary and justified, but in reality it only amplifies
violence, distrust of police, and use of excessive force.
Soon after the Michael Brown incident in Ferguson, Fox News channel during a segment of its Fox
and Friends had a panel discussion focusing on the Militarization of Police . The invited panel was
made up of all white men namely Jon Dietl (Fox News contributor), Bernie Kerik (former NYC Police
Commissioner) and retired Nutley Police Commander Steven Rogers (Retd. Nutley Police
Commander).
The panelists spoke for the motion, defending the action taken by the police. In this segment the host
and panelists were having a casual conversation on the given topic. Instead of bringing about a diverse
panel with different points of view, Fox News had its panel only consisting of white Caucasian men
with the same ideologies and thought

Symbols In The Metamorphosis
At some point in our lives, we encounter obstacles, problems and big changes in the way we live our
lives. Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis tells the story of Gregor Samsa had not only undergone a big
transformation physically, but also emotionally and mentally as an insect. Reading behind the lines
uncovers hidden meanings, imagery, and symbols that may seem inconspicuous to a normal reader. As
this literature may be understood through the lines, and texts that blend in the story. Throughout The
Metamorphosis, symbols, imagery, and settings are used to develop Kafka s messages. In the light of
this, it may be said that no matter how simple this novel may seem, it can cover extensive imagery and
symbols that comprises its true identity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The family gradually rejected Greg s new life as a Vermin. Once the family realized that Greg was no
longer able to provide for their living, they found him useless and refused to care for him. The anger
and shame Mr. Samsa has for his son can be evidenced by the force the apple was thrown at Gregor.
Then the realization only struck Gregor when he was hit by the apple as thrown by his father Mr.
Samsa, the collision brings forth this sudden realization within Gregor and his family, that could also
be symbolized from the Bible, by the apple Your eyes shall be opened (Genesis 3:5, NIV). Gregor can
already painfully see that his life has been completely changed, he no longer holds the position as the
son; he is not useful because he cannot earn money anymore, he is just a gigantic vermin that is taking
up space in the house. To the father, this can be similar to exile because he is leaving the comforts of
his home and work. Furthermore, this apple becomes a realization to readers that the family did not
really treat Gregor as their own son even before he became a Vermin. They failed to realize that
Gregor has transformed from the son to the bank account. Before, the Samsa family does not see the
metamorphosis because Gregor s physical appearance did not differ, but now they were forced to take
notice . Now, the symbolism of the rotting apple is the guilt he faced after the incident. It

Iran Contra Affair Essays
The Iran Contra scandal had a big effect on the United States but it had a huge effect on Nicaragua.
Through out 1985 86, the Reagan administration was selling weapons to Iran illegally in order to
encourage Iran to free hostages in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the Reagan administration wanted to
support the Contras in Nicaragua, a rebel group fighting to overthrow the Sandinista government. The
administration decided to use the money made from selling arms to Iran, and had it sent to the Contras
without passing through the United States. (Walsh, p2.) In this paper, I am going to provide the
background of the situation. I will explain how the money from the missile sales was used to support
the Contras. I will also tell how everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1984, the CIA sowed mines in a major port in Nicaragua causing a severe amount of damage. The
Contras took credit for this. But a few weeks later the press exposed the CIA involvement. In
response, Congress passed a second Boland Amendment, which said that neither the CIA nor the
Defense Department could fund the Contras, either directly or indirectly. From then on the
administration worked through the National Security Council, and NSC staff member Oliver North.
NSC William Clark established Office of Public Diplomacy for Latin America and the Caribbean
(housed in State Department but reported to the NSC), Oliver North attended the meetings:
responsible for all Contra affairs. Because the CIA was prohibited from operating inside the United
States, Director William Casey had senior propaganda specialist Walter Raymond transferred to the
NSC. As Raymond declared, his job was to concentrate on gluing black hats on Sandinistas and white
hats on Contras. (Kornbluh, p.5) All this time, CIA intelligence analysts were saying that the Contras
couldn t win, even with American support. Robert Owen, Oliver North s personal intermediary with
the Contras is quoted as saying they were simply profiteers. 1 Meanwhile, during 1985 86, as
mentioned earlier, the Reagan administration was selling weapons to Iran illegally in order to
encourage Iran to free hostages in the Middle East. After the 1979 hostage situation at the United

Factors Affecting Population Growth
According to the book, there are three main factors that influence population growth. The first factor
the book addresses is childhood mortality. Childhood mortality refers to the amount of children who
die before age five. According to a website called ourworldindata.com, the child mortality rate in 2015
was around 4.3 percent. Childhood mortality can impact population growth because if the mortality
rate is high, the amount of childhood deaths would cause less population growth. A decrease in
childhood mortality could cause families to have smaller families since there is a higher likelihood of
their children surviving. Education is the second factor that impacts population growth. According to
the book, people who are educated tend to wait to have children or get married due to their occupation
or due to them working towards their occupation. This can impact population growth by reducing the
number of children a women has due to her getting married older, having children when she is older,
and dedicating time to work and children. Women who live in uneducated areas tend to marry and
have children around their teens, increases the population yet also increasing poverty and lack of
hygiene. The third and last factor is the lack of access to contraceptives. According to the book,
contraceptives tend to decrease the amount of children a women has, allows more women to have
children who survive the birthing process, and reduces the amount of women who die in childbirth.

Q1:Why is reproduction essential for organisms?
Reproduction is a fundamental feature of all living organisms. It is a biological process through which
living organisms produce offspring s similar to them. Reproduction ensures the continuance of various
species on the Earth. In the absence of reproduction, the species will not be able to exist for a long
time and may soon get extinct.
Q2:Which is a better mode of reproduction sexual or asexual? Why?
Sexual reproduction is a better mode of reproduction. It allows the formation of new variants by the
combination of the DNA from two different individuals, typically one of each sex. It involves the

What´s Supramolecular Chemistry Essay
Supramolecular chemistry actually represents a fairly simple concept. In contrast to molecular
chemistry, which is predominantly based on the covalent bonding of the atoms, supramolecular
chemistry is based up on intermolecular interactions, i.e on the association of two or more building
blocks, which are held together by intermolecular forces . When molecules get larger, they have the
ability to stick together and that allows the formation of larger assemblies of molecules that are not
bonded to one another but stick together and organize themselves, just like the pieces of the puzzle.
Supramolecular chemistry is the domain of chemistry that deals with the forces that will allow them to
stick together, which may include hydrogen bonding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one understands clearly the rules of folding, then it is certainly possible to correct the misfolding
events and hence the disease can be curbed.
1.2 Host Guest Chemistry:
In supramolecular chemistry, host guest chemistry is one of the intresting very active field in the last
three decades. This describes complexes which were composed molecules or ions that are held
together by forces other than those of full covalent bonds. Host guest chemistry borders the inception
of molecular recognition and interactions through noncovalent bonding.Hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds,
van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions are the four regularly used types of noncovalent
bondings. Host guest dynamics plays a crucial role in understanding the reaction chemistry of guest
molecules encapsulated within self assembled hosts. These molecule systems have been used as model
systems to study the fundamental principles that govern the complexation of a guest molecule to its
host.Host guest chemistry has a wide range of practical applications which are very popular in basic
laboratory research, and in pharmaceutical and food industries. Biologically it helps us to understand
the binding or association between molecules which indeed plays a fundamental role in molecular and
cellular functions. Understanding the rudimental mechanisms that govern the binding process between
molecules is

Character Analysis Of Wallace Playlot By Billy Lombardo
In the short story, Wallace Playlot written by Billy Lombardo, a boy s realizations about human
interaction in his life is shown. Lombardo uses characterization and point of view to establish that a
person will never truly know another person s character until they associate themselves with that
person s personal feelings and thoughts. In every aspect of this story, there are always characters
perceiving each other in certain ways. Petey is the narrator, and because of that, everything told to the
reader about each character is filtered through his brain. Each boy s parents don t know as much as
they able to about their sons. And every person watching the game of Kenney catching 100 balls ,
form their first impressions about each boy playing. When the boy s parents had finally come to watch
their sons do what they had been passionate about for the whole summer of 1972, Petey feels this
immense amount of joy because of how he thinks the parents might know him a bit more. Petey feels
as if his parents ignore him and do not pay attention to his daily personal desires because they
themselves are too busy focusing on their jobs and their personal desires. And in 1972, in a place
called Bridgeport, in a city called Chicago, this is how they loved us. (Pg.60). This shows that Petey
obviously thinks that his parents do not know them as well as they are able to. Petey uses the word,
Love because his parents were paying attention to what he loved to do, and

Editing And The Writing Process
Literature Review In examining recent literature on the topic of editing in the writing process, three
areas appear to be of some concern in dealing with this issue: 1) The true definition of editing and the
editing process, 2) The perceived role and responsibilities of the teacher and students, and 3) Effective
editing strategies that will increase student learning. In order to truly implement editing strategies that
will impact the learner, the first two areas must be addressed.
In the review of the literature, I found that many students and teachers alike had some misconceptions
about the true definition of editing and the roles that each must play. Often times, the editing process
and the revision process were mistakenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second area that needs to be addressed is the role the teacher and students play in the editing
stage. Teachers, English teachers in particular, are experts in editing. This is suggested through their
daily activities of correcting papers (Littauer, 1996; Parsons 2001). Joel Littauer (1996) also suggests
that students have no editing skills because the teacher does all the editing. It is of no wonder that
students do not have the skills of editing. Parsons (2001) states that unless students are taught and
forced to implement correct language, they will continue to make the same mistakes. He also makes
the point of putting the responsibility of editing back to the person who does the writing. In the case of
a classroom, the teacher must teach the students to edit their work, and the students must take the
responsibility to do so. In accomplishing this task, the students will have taken one more step in
becoming successful writers. In order to accomplish this task however, teachers must find and
implement editing strategies that will work for them and their students. In conducting my literature
review, I found three strategies that were dominant in much of my research. The first strategy was one
that was technology driven. In this strategy, the computer word processor is used as a tool for the
stages of writing. Jarvis (1997), Diehm (1998), as well as Parsons (2001), all give good reasons to use
this tool as a strategy for editing. In

The Duke dehumanizes Fra Pandolf. This means that he would essentially a tool instead of a person.
Throughout the poem, the Duke can be seen as he constantly boasts about the duchess. The Duke tells

Kellie Howell Thesis
Walking into a silent courtroom, it is quiet. All you can hear is the footsteps you are making as you
approach the jury to do an opening statement. You feel anxious and excited all at the same time,
because at the beginning of your career, you were the jury. This is what Kellie Howell experiences

Goddess Of Brilliance And The Moon Essay
The Titaness of Brilliance and the Moon, or prophetic radiance is what Phoebe, a Greek mythological
Titan, was what she was commonly called. Although she was never referred to as the goddess of the
moon, she is often associated with Selene, who is the goddess of the moon (Luna in Latin). She is also
associated with Saturn, the sixth planet from the sun. In almost every picture of Phoebe, she is placed
next to the moon with a shield and bow and arrows. Phoebe was not one of the most popular or well
known Titans in Greek mythology, she was often always in the background of everything. Although
there is little information about her, she still is a major goddess because she was one of the first twelve
Titans, which explains why she took the side of the Titans in the War of the Titans. She also happens
to take part in the ancient Greeks creation myth story. Phoebe is the daughter of Uranus (Sky) and

Literary Analysis Of Hercules Delivering Prometheus By...
Hercules Delivering Prometheus, a free standing French sculpture, now in the Art Gallery of Ontario
is cast in bronze by Francois Lespingola. This highly intricate bronze sculpture is an example of
French baroque art, which was created in between 1690 and 1705. The incredible creativity of this
composition and the audacity of its three dimensional conception included a widely known scene from
classic Greek mythology. A series of statuettes on the sculpture depict a display of Hercules freeing
the chained Prometheus from an eagle that comes to pick his liver each day. Lespingola promoted
these effects in grouping multiple figures, optimizing the individual prominence of each figure and
integrating them into one concordant sculpture.

The mixture of realism and idealism allows the sculpture to stand and symbolize other figures at the

They are both very muscular. The muscles have defining curves, showing that the body is flexed and
in action. These ideal human forms also show that the symmetry is not being equal, but the
proportions of these individuals make a whole composition. Furthermore, the male figures are more
human than human. They are idealized in softer cravings with smaller heads and the hair is very
stylized. The movements of the male figures are emphasized in a contrapposto position. Both are
counterposed and weight is shifted on a feet. These shapes come together and give the effect of how
the real body looks like. Moreover, it suggests the figure s characteristics. For example, Hercules s
weight is on his right foot and left foot is placed as a movement. The indication of his dynamic
movement reflects his strong character. Prometheus s kneeing contrapposto position along with his
anxious expression gives an insight that he is trembled with fear. The eagle s fierce eyes, sharp beak

The Effect Of The Gilded Age

Cultural Anthropology Research Paper
Throughout the world many people find it very difficult to communicate with people that do not share
the same ideals as them. This lack of communication is a major barrier in advancement of our world.
Anthropology, in short, is the study of humans living and dead Anthropology is divided into five main
categories: applied, linguistic, medical, biological, archaeological, and cultural. Each of these five
divisions teaches a different aspect of human life.
Cultural anthropology teaches acceptance. There are social norms that can be found in every culture,
the difference from culture to culture is socialization how people react appropriately to one in another.
These differences can be in food, clothing, or religion. Each difference has meaning to why it is done
that certain way, either because of climate, history, resources or any other aspect that causes people to
live the way they do. If cultural differences are studied further, comparisons can be made to one s own
way of life and both cultures begin to look very similar. Once a person has been made aware of the
differences and the reasons why they occur, it becomes easier to become more understand to a group
of people s needs or wants.
This universal of understanding tends to come in handy during a job or even in everyday social
interaction. People tend to want to work harder when they are treated as equals and not when they are
being told what to do. Anthropology research teaches how to be respectful when interacting with

Criticism Of The Electoral College
In the United States, an electoral college system is used to elect a president. It is vital in any
democratic country to allow a vote from the people to elect their representative leaders, especially in
an influential country like the United States. However, due to the process of the electoral college
system placed by the Framers, a candidate may win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote. Such
an event may upset certain members of our country as recently seen in our latest presidential election
of 2016 where candidate Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote to candidate
Donald Trump.
Using the 2016 presidential election as an example, we can see how the Electoral College can allow a
candidate to take the winner take all system towards the presidency. Another example of how a
candidate can win the election by winning the electoral vote and not the popular vote can be seen in
the presidential election of 2000, where candidate George W. Bush lost the popular vote to candidate
Al Gore but won the electoral vote, drawing criticism to the Electoral College, with some saying that
it has outlived the purpose for which it was created (Duquette, 2017). In this winner take all system,
more attention is focused towards electoral districts rather than a national platform. For example, if a
third party were to have a chance in winning an election in a district, the voter must take this fact into
consideration (Bowler, 1994). This makes it possible

Examples Of Anti Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism Vs. Anti Transcendentalism Transcendentalism, which emerged during the early
1800 s, was a revolutionary turn in American literature. Transcendentalism is an ideology that
highlights man s purpose and relationship with nature and the over soul, or God. Anti
Transcendentalism objects this ideology and focusses on the flaws of man and his evil effect on
society. Both Transcendentalism and Anti Transcendentalism focus on the reason for man s existence
and his impact on society. Even though Transcendentalism and Anti Transcendentalism both focus
man s association with society and core purpose of his existence, they disagree on the details of these
ideas. Transcendentalists believe that man is good and can maintain this goodness by having a strong
bond with the over soul. Transcendentalists think that society is bad and is the reason for all of the evil
in the world. In an excerpt from Ralph Waldo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transcendentalists believe it is only through nature that you can achieve your highest level of peace
and deepest connection with the over soul. This is described in Ralph Waldo Emerson s Self Reliance
when Emmerson says, the power which resides in [a man] is new in nature. This shows the deep
interdependence between nature and man. Transcendentalists consider the life too precious to give up
to stress. Stress can also be caused by clutter and the busy aspects of life. In Walden , by Henry David
Thoreau, Thoreau explains that he purchased a house two miles from the village, half a mile from the
nearest neighbor, and separated from the highway. (Thoreau 408) This shows Transcendentalists
fascination and respect for reclusion and peace. They do not correlate seclusion with loneliness.
Transcendentalists see seclusion as a time to self reflect and connect with the

Comparing The Metaphors Of London By William Blake And...
During the 18th century, London was not charming, clean, and astounding, at least that s what William
Blake thought. William Blake and William Wordsworth, poets of the romantic period, wrote poems
about London. These two poets expressed how they felt about London about how it was at the time.
Blake and Wordsworth create an image in a reader s mind of how they saw London, Blake s image
being dim and Wordsworth s image is brighter. Blake viewed London as an awful place, and
Wordsworth viewed London as a cheerful place. Blake and Wordsworth used metaphors, a setting, and
they call attention to the classes of the people to get their message to readers. Metaphors are a
attractive way to get readers to keep reading. In addition to that, Blake ... Show more content on

and Wordsworth setting is happier and brighter. In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill;/ Ne er saw

out onto the silent town. In every cry of every man,/ In every Infant s cry of fear,/ In every voice, in
every ban,/ The mind forg d manacles I hear. (5 8). Blake is stating London is horrible, as he hears
cries down every street he walks through. Wordsworth creates an image in a reader s mind, an image
that says London is great, beautiful, clean, calm, quiet, and dazzling. A nice morning, standing on the
bridge looking out and seeing a peaceful town asleep. Green swaying grass and the smooth, warm sun
on a face as another day a comes. Another example is if Wordsworth was painting what he saw. He
would have used bright, warm colors with soft strokes. On the other hand, Blake creates an image that
yells London is horrible. But most, through midnight streets I hear (13). Blake was ambling the streets
at night, giving the image even more of a depressing place. Looking into the streets, a dirty, dark
street, with cracks and loose rocks. With people crying and struggling to live another day in the cruel
town. Painting wise, Blake would have used dark colors with harsh strokes. These are two different

Art and Nature in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale Essay
Art and Nature in Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale
In Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale , we see a jealous king convinced he is search of the truth. He will
expose his wife and her alleged philandering, but his determination to prove this actually changes this
search from one for truth to one for myths creations, false truths. In essence. Leontes runs into the
conflict of defining art versus nature, where art is the view of the world he constructs to prove his
paranoia true. Nature itself can exist without art, but the art here is the mangled perception through
which Leontes will seek to define Nature. In summation, The Winter s Tale investigates the conflict
between art and nature creation versus enhancement and seeks to find out if ... Show more content on

In other words, the assumed unfaithfulness of his wife, will wreak havoc, like a galactic body. This is
a bizarre comparison a wife and her alleged infidelity to a planet in outer space that will destruct in the
name of vengeance. As bizarre as it is, it accomplishes the task of enhancing the dichotomy of what is
real and what is a fabrication of imagination. Art, in The Winter s Tale is not merely expression but
creation over nature. As his paints a dramatically depressed view of reality, it becomes clear how his
perception of what is actually in nature has been heinously corrupted because of a search for truth
predicated on validating flippant worries. He carries on: To mingle friendship far is mingling bloods. I
have tremor cordis on me. My heart dances, but not for joy, not joy. , showing the extent to which he
cannot see the truth what is actually present in nature, but also how manically crazed he is. For
example, Leontes seems to think nothing is odd about calling his son into speak to him, and merely
asking, Mamillius, art thou my boy? . His tone here is light, and conveys this idea that not only is what
he asking logical and understandable but normal. It speaks volumes to art s influence on Leontes to
make him so selfish and wrapped up in his own desperate story.
Since The Winter s Tale is a grandiose character play, where Shakespeare himself battles art and
nature with characters that put on alter egos and defenses over

for an adequate period of time, and at the lowest cost to them and their community (WHO, 2012).
There are 12 key concepts that the WHO advocates to promote more rational use. These are:
establishment of a multidisciplinary national body to coordinate policies on medicine use, use of
clinical guidelines, development and use of national essential medicines list, establishment of drug and
therapeutics committees in districts and hospitals, inclusion of problem based pharmacotherapy

Advantages And Disadvantages On Bonds
What are bonds?
You have probably heard people talking about bonds, or read about them and how much one can earn
if they invest in bonds but you really do not know what bonds are or how they work. We shall take
you through all these and enlighten you.
Bonds are debt securities or debt investment whereby, if you buy a bond, you are actually lending your
money but with security. It is a way for you to invest your money by lending it. Borrowers will issue
bonds so as to raise funds from investors and most of the funds are usually used as capital for further
ventures or expansion. Some of the entities that issue bonds are governments, corporations,
municipalities and other federal agencies.
The entity that issues the bond is known as the Issuer and when you purchase one, ... Show more

1. High taxes are charged on the interest payments from bonds than most of the other investment
incomes. Therefore this will affect how much you end up with as interest because what you get is
what is left after the taxes have been deducted.
2. Bonds may have low risk factors; however, they also have lower returns if compared to other
investments such as stocks. This means that if you are going for high returns in a short time then
bonds are not the best option.
3. If you buy a bond when interest rates are low, even if the interest rates go up, you will still get your
interests calculated at the low rates rather than being revised to the high interest rates. This, therefore,
means that you are stuck at earning using low interest rates no matter how high the interest rates rise.
4. The interest you an investor earns from bonds are mostly paid either once a year or twice a year in
most cases. This means that if you are looking for a more regular source of income as an investment,
then bonds would not be great for you unless you find bonds that pay off interest more

My alarm went off that Sunday morning, playing that one J. Cole song that it always did, and for once,

Transparency And Transparency Of Government
Transparency in Government
To address transparency issues, adequate transparency within government must be ensured; and
transparency and accountability should be promoted within democratic governance. Florida leads the
country in providing public access to government meetings and records. Florida State leaders believe
in the notion that government should be held accountable to the citizens. U.S. Supreme Court Justice
Louis D. Brandeis wrote, in his 1932 article called What Publicity Can Do that, Sunlight is said to be
the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman. (Brandeis, 1914) Government
transparency means placing all financial and public information online in an easy to use, readily
understandable system. A transparent system is important, because it allows taxpayers to see clearly
how public servants are spending tax money, and it also gives citizens the ability to hold their elected
officials accountable.
Transparency in government is not a new issue. John Adams, 2nd president of the United States,
wrote, Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right
and a desire to know. (Adams, 1992) In other words, a healthy system of government is an open
government that allows all who desire to know to find the information they are seeking. Transparency
is crucial to democratic governance, because governments have access to extensive amounts of
important information. Distribution of this information

The Causes Of Canadian Confederation
Canadian confederation was a process in which the British colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New
Brunswick were united into one government of Canada, on July 1 1867. However Canadian
confederation did not just happen like that there were causes that lead to confederation. The causes
which lead to confederation are; political deadlock, American civil war, the railway, cancellation of
reciprocity treaty, and Britain creating her colonies self sufficient. So today in this essay I will be
discussing about the causes of confederation.
The political deadlock was an act to join two colonies and to give a representative voice as well as
some of Upper Canada s debt s. In 1840 the union joined two colonies; upper Canada (Ontario) and
lower Canada (Quebec) to form a single colony. However both upper Canada and lower Canada were
given equal representation which was 42 seats each. Slowly upper Canada began to grow larger than
lower Canada. When this was being done there were more Quebec representatives than Canadian
representatives living in the colony. However it advantaged the Canadian s who had less people but
equal say. By the 1860s, the situation had changed as Quebec having less people but equal say. Now
since Canada and Quebec had equal say all they did was turn each other down which resulted into not
a lot of new bills that were passed by Canada. The outcome of this was that the politicians from
Quebec and Ontario look towards a new political system. However one

When Do Opportunity Costs Count

factors, vagueness of opportunity cost presentation and stage of project completion, affect individuals

classical economic theory , and defined as the value of the next highest valued alternative use of that

Prior research has typically presented opportunity costs in a precise manner, which is inconsistent with

Prior research has not investigated whether opportunity cost vagueness reduces decision makers

Benefits Of A Quality Retirement Plan
A quality retirement plan can help companies retain top talent and attract highly skilled new
employees to offset the talent loss that comes with an aging workforce.
According to Scott Boyd, SVP, National Platform Distribution and Relationships and head of
Healthcare Solutions for Prudential Retirement, in Hartford, Connecticut. Plan sponsors and their
providers or advisors when discussing retirement plan design tend to have conversations about plan
costs instead, they should consider the more implicit costs of employees not being able to retire.
Boyd tells Plansponsor that it costs employers an estimated $8,500 per year per person and year due to
increased health care and benefits costs and lost productivity. In addition, a lack of mobility for middle
managers may cause them to leave for competitors which could cost anywhere from 100 percent to
300 percent in salary to replace them. The implicit costs can be bigger than what plan sponsors spend
on their retirement plans, Boyd says.
Prudential trademarked a service it now offers calls DC Optimization. This new product is a process
that now provides plan sponsors with information from defined contribution (DC) actuaries to help
them design an efficient retirement plan that supports their organizations business objectives. Whether
that be containing overall business costs, increasing employee participation in a retirement plan or
attracting and retaining the right talent.

The Effects Of Alcohol On The Brain
One of the most significant cause of motor vehicle fatalities, injuries and risk of car crash is drinking
and driving (Chou et al., 2005). Alcohol impacts the brain by slowing down the procedure of receiving
and processing information from eyes and directing actions, and the capability to function efficiently
(Transport and Main Roads, 2010). Furthermore, it decreases clarity of vision, ability to see far and in
dark, ability to make judgements, induce sleepiness and increase likelihood of risk taking behaviour.
These effects of alcohol have a significant impact an individual s ability to drive safely and securely
while intoxicated with alcohol. Drink driving does not only impact the driver themselves, but also
those who are victims of accidents caused by drink drivers. In Australia, drink driving continues to
remain as one of the highest contributors to road fatality and injury, even though it has reduced
remarkably since the 1980 s (Terer Brown, 2014). This paper will discuss some of the findings from
an external interview (refer to Appendix A), and compare them to literature on the impacts and
consequences of drink driving, a theoretical framework that supports a countermeasure to effectively
reduce drink driving behaviour in society. Our interviewee s opinion regarding drink driving was that
it is a high concern in road safety. Findings from Transport and Main Roads (2012) report demonstrate
that alcohol related crashes were the highest contributors in fatal crashes in

Candyfloss By Jacqueline Wilson
Candyfloss
Candyfloss is an endearing story of a torn family written by Jacqueline Wilson. This wonderful book
falls in the children s fiction category. This story takes place in England in the modern age. Floss is a
ten year old girl who has two fathers. Even though she struggles to stand up for herself, she is
generally a happy and bubbly girl, She makes the life changing choice to remain with her dad while
her mom, stepfather, Steve, and half brother, Tim, decide to move to Australia. Her best friend
Rhiannon ends up backstabbing her which causes her to become friends with Susan, the class s
resident know it all. She is small with curly, blond hair which she eventually dyes pink.
Charlie Barnes is Floss s biological dad. He runs a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Billy the Chip, one of Charlie s customers, mentions he is going to Australia to visit his son. He says
he needs Floss and her father to live in his house and Charlie to work in his van. However, one day,
the van catches on fire due to a fight between Rose s son Saul and a group of boys. Floss in stuck in
the burning van, panicking. Charlie fights his way through the fire and rescues her,and in the process,
burns his hands.
When Rose s fair comes back in town, Rose, the owner of one of the stalls and Charlie s love interest,
and Charlie consider dating. When Floss finds out of their mutual interest in eachother, she
wholeheartedly supports them. Rose even lets Floss help her in her candyfloss stall. With her father
and Rose dating, Floss finally has a complete and loving family. It may be a bit dysfunctional, but
their love for her outruns their eccentricness.
I enjoyed reading this book because it deals with issues ranging from friendship to divorce. This book
teaches that friendship should be based on selflessness and authentic love, not someone s financial or
class status. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what the true meaning of
family and

Enabling Others To Act Research Paper
Enabling others to act is not about delegating tasks to them. Instead, it is about making them believe in
themselves, their capability and the goal is to inspire them to overcome their limits and find success.
Enabling others to act is not about people completing given tasks, it is more about making people feel
like they are a valuable component of the team and to engage them in discussions while helping them
develop their self confidence. When I think of enabling others to act, I think of the way my coaches
work with me. They trust me, and they let me figure out a task on my own so that I can discover
myself. My coaches encourage me, and through enabling me to act, they help me become a leader.
Enabling others to act is about building strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My struggle with suggesting ideas happens because I hesitate and worry about how the other person or
the group will feel about the notion. Many times, while working on a group project I come up with
ideas on how to improve my partner s part of the project but initially I struggle to suggest ideas as I
feel like my partner may thing that I don t trust them or am being dominating. Hence, it takes me time
to suggest ideas. Even when it comes to my dance teams and my workplace despite holding a
leadership position I sometimes take more time before I suggest an idea. However, over the past few
months, I have seen an improvement in my ability to come up with and suggest ideas to others. I feel
like my mentorship experience has helped me overcome my hesitation as I learned that I have to
suggest ideas to my mentees as it is for their benefit and the benefit of the group. To improve my
ability to challenge the process, I believe that I have work on my self confidence and think about how
out sighting is beneficial for all if it is beneficial for me. When we reach out to others for ideas our
project end up being better, hence when I come up with ideas I have to believe that others want to hear
about the ideas as it can help us all improve. Further, I think I should also ask people for feedback
once I have suggested an idea and share with

Or in layman s terms, a body formed to serve and protect civilians. With the Ferguson incident of an African American boy getting shot by a white American police officer, it came to the limelight that how America s police force has gone to the extent of acquiring military grade equipment, armor, gear .With sheer ignorance, unreasonable argument and lack of reliable citation sources, Fox News conveys how the militarization of the police force is justified. Ironically this militarization is supposedly necessary and justified, but in reality it only amplifies violence, distrust of police, and use of excessive force. Soon after the Michael Brown incident in Ferguson, Fox News channel during a segment of its Fox and Friends had a panel discussion focusing on the Militarization of Police . The invited panel was made up of all white men namely Jon Dietl (Fox News contributor), Bernie Kerik (former NYC Police Commissioner) and retired Nutley Police Commander Steven Rogers (Retd. Nutley Police Commander). The panelists spoke for the motion, defending the action taken by the police. In this segment the host and panelists were having a casual conversation on the given topic. Instead of bringing about a diverse panel with different points of view, Fox News had its panel only consisting of white Caucasian men with the same ideologies and thought ... Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis tells the story of Gregor Samsa had not only undergone a big transformation physically, but also emotionally and mentally as an insect. Reading behind the lines uncovers hidden meanings, imagery, and symbols that may seem inconspicuous to a normal reader. As this literature may be understood through the lines, and texts that blend in the story. Throughout The Metamorphosis, symbols, imagery, and settings are used to develop Kafka s messages. Once the family realized that Greg was no longer able to provide for their living, they found him useless and refused to care for him. The anger and shame Mr. Samsa has for his son can be evidenced by the force the apple was thrown at Gregor. Then the realization only struck Gregor when he was hit by the apple as thrown by his father Mr. Samsa, the collision brings forth this sudden realization within Gregor and his family, that could also be symbolized from the Bible, by the apple Your eyes shall be opened (Genesis 3:5, NIV). Gregor can already painfully see that his life has been completely changed, he no longer holds the position as the son; he is not useful because he cannot earn money anymore, he is just a gigantic vermin that is taking up space in the house. To the father, this can be similar to exile because he is leaving the comforts of his home and work. Furthermore, this apple becomes a realization to readers that the family did not really treat Gregor as their own son even before he became a Vermin. They failed to realize that Gregor has transformed from the son to the bank account. Before, the Samsa family does not see the metamorphosis because Gregor s physical appearance did not differ, but now they were forced to take notice . Through out 1985 86, the Reagan administration was selling weapons to Iran illegally in order to encourage Iran to free hostages in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the Reagan administration wanted to support the Contras in Nicaragua, a rebel group fighting to overthrow the Sandinista government. The administration decided to use the money made from selling arms to Iran, and had it sent to the Contras without passing through the United States. (Walsh, p2.) In response, Congress passed a second Boland Amendment, which said that neither the CIA nor the Defense Department could fund the Contras, either directly or indirectly. From then on the administration worked through the National Security Council, and NSC staff member Oliver North. NSC William Clark established Office of Public Diplomacy for Latin America and the Caribbean (housed in State Department but reported to the NSC), Oliver North attended the meetings: responsible for all Contra affairs. • 5. Factors Affecting Population Growth According to the book, there are three main factors that influence population growth. The first factor the book addresses is childhood mortality. Childhood mortality refers to the amount of children who die before age five. According to a website called ourworldindata.com, the child mortality rate in 2015 was around 4.3 percent. Childhood mortality can impact population growth because if the mortality rate is high, the amount of childhood deaths would cause less population growth. A decrease in childhood mortality could cause families to have smaller families since there is a higher likelihood of their children surviving. Education is the second factor that impacts population growth. According to the book, people who are educated tend to wait to have children or get married due to their occupation or due to them working towards their occupation. This can impact population growth by reducing the number of children a women has due to her getting married older, having children when she is older, and dedicating time to work and children. Women who live in uneducated areas tend to marry and have children around their teens, increases the population yet also increasing poverty and lack of hygiene. The third and last factor is the lack of access to contraceptives. According to the book, contraceptives tend to decrease the amount of children a women has, allows more women to have children who survive the birthing process, and reduces the amount of women who die in childbirth. In contrast to molecular chemistry, which is predominantly based on the covalent bonding of the atoms, supramolecular chemistry is based up on intermolecular interactions, i.e on the association of two or more building blocks, which are held together by intermolecular forces . When molecules get larger, they have the ability to stick together and that allows the formation of larger assemblies of molecules that are not bonded to one another but stick together and organize themselves, just like the pieces of the puzzle. Host guest chemistry borders the inception of molecular recognition and interactions through noncovalent bonding.Hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions are the four regularly used types of noncovalent bondings. Host guest dynamics plays a crucial role in understanding the reaction chemistry of guest molecules encapsulated within self assembled hosts. Lombardo uses characterization and point of view to establish that a person will never truly know another person s character until they associate themselves with that person s personal feelings and thoughts. In every aspect of this story, there are always characters perceiving each other in certain ways. Petey is the narrator, and because of that, everything told to the reader about each character is filtered through his brain. Each boy s parents don t know as much as they able to about their sons. And every person watching the game of Kenney catching 100 balls , form their first impressions about each boy playing. When the boy s parents had finally come to watch their sons do what they had been passionate about for the whole summer of 1972, Petey feels this immense amount of joy because of how he thinks the parents might know him a bit more. Petey feels as if his parents ignore him and do not pay attention to his daily personal desires because they themselves are too busy focusing on their jobs and their personal desires. And in 1972, in a place called Bridgeport, in a city called Chicago, this is how they loved us. (Pg.60). • 10. Editing And The Writing Process Literature Review In examining recent literature on the topic of editing in the writing process, three areas appear to be of some concern in dealing with this issue: 1) The true definition of editing and the editing process, 2) The perceived role and responsibilities of the teacher and students, and 3) Effective editing strategies that will increase student learning. In order to truly implement editing strategies that will impact the learner, the first two areas must be addressed. In the review of the literature, I found that many students and teachers alike had some misconceptions about the true definition of editing and the roles that each must play. The second area that needs to be addressed is the role the teacher and students play in the editing stage. Teachers, English teachers in particular, are experts in editing. This is suggested through their daily activities of correcting papers (Littauer, 1996; Parsons 2001). Joel Littauer (1996) also suggests that students have no editing skills because the teacher does all the editing. It is of no wonder that students do not have the skills of editing. Parsons (2001) states that unless students are taught and forced to implement correct language, they will continue to make the same mistakes. He also makes the point of putting the responsibility of editing back to the person who does the writing. In the case of a classroom, the teacher must teach the students to edit their work, and the students must take the responsibility to do so. In accomplishing this task, the students will have taken one more step in becoming successful writers. In order to accomplish this task however, teachers must find and implement editing strategies that will work for them and their students. In conducting my literature review, I found three strategies that were dominant in much of my research. The first strategy was one that was technology driven. In this strategy, the computer word processor is used as a tool for the stages of writing. Jarvis (1997), Diehm (1998), as well as Parsons (2001), all give good reasons to use this tool as a strategy for editing. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is vital in any democratic country to allow a vote from the people to elect their representative leaders, especially in an influential country like the United States. However, due to the process of the electoral college system placed by the Framers, a candidate may win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote. Such an event may upset certain members of our country as recently seen in our latest presidential election of 2016 where candidate Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote to candidate Donald Trump. Using the 2016 presidential election as an example, we can see how the Electoral College can allow a candidate to take the winner take all system towards the presidency. Another example of how a candidate can win the election by winning the electoral vote and not the popular vote can be seen in the presidential election of 2000, where candidate George W. Bush lost the popular vote to candidate Al Gore but won the electoral vote, drawing criticism to the Electoral College, with some saying that it has outlived the purpose for which it was created (Duquette, 2017). In this winner take all system, more attention is focused towards electoral districts rather than a national platform. • 22. Art and Nature in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale Essay Art and Nature in Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale In Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale , we see a jealous king convinced he is search of the truth. He will expose his wife and her alleged philandering, but his determination to prove this actually changes this search from one for truth to one for myths creations, false truths. In essence. Leontes runs into the conflict of defining art versus nature, where art is the view of the world he constructs to prove his paranoia true. Nature itself can exist without art, but the art here is the mangled perception through which Leontes will seek to define Nature. In other words, the assumed unfaithfulness of his wife, will wreak havoc, like a galactic body. This is a bizarre comparison a wife and her alleged infidelity to a planet in outer space that will destruct in the name of vengeance. As bizarre as it is, it accomplishes the task of enhancing the dichotomy of what is real and what is a fabrication of imagination. Art, in The Winter s Tale is not merely expression but creation over nature. As his paints a dramatically depressed view of reality, it becomes clear how his perception of what is actually in nature has been heinously corrupted because of a search for truth predicated on validating flippant worries. He carries on: To mingle friendship far is mingling bloods. I have tremor cordis on me. My heart dances, but not for joy, not joy. , showing the extent to which he cannot see the truth what is actually present in nature, but also how manically crazed he is. For example, Leontes seems to think nothing is odd about calling his son into speak to him, and merely asking, Mamillius, art thou my boy? . His tone here is light, and conveys this idea that not only is what he asking logical and understandable but normal. It speaks volumes to art s influence on Leontes to make him so selfish and wrapped up in his own desperate story. This means that if you are going for high returns in a short time then bonds are not the best option. 3. If you buy a bond when interest rates are low, even if the interest rates go up, you will still get your interests calculated at the low rates rather than being revised to the high interest rates. Transparency And Transparency Of Government Transparency in Government To address transparency issues, adequate transparency within government must be ensured; and transparency and accountability should be promoted within democratic governance. Florida leads the country in providing public access to government meetings and records. Florida State leaders believe in the notion that government should be held accountable to the citizens. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis wrote, in his 1932 article called What Publicity Can Do that, Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman. (Brandeis, 1914) Government transparency means placing all financial and public information online in an easy to use, readily understandable system. A transparent system is important, because it allows taxpayers to see clearly how public servants are spending tax money, and it also gives citizens the ability to hold their elected officials accountable. Transparency in government is not a new issue. John Adams, 2nd president of the United States, wrote, Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right and a desire to know. The causes which lead to confederation are; political deadlock, American civil war, the railway, cancellation of reciprocity treaty, and Britain creating her colonies self sufficient. So today in this essay I will be discussing about the causes of confederation. The political deadlock was an act to join two colonies and to give a representative voice as well as some of Upper Canada s debt s. In 1840 the union joined two colonies; upper Canada (Ontario) and lower Canada (Quebec) to form a single colony. However both upper Canada and lower Canada were given equal representation which was 42 seats each. Slowly upper Canada began to grow larger than lower Canada. When this was being done there were more Quebec representatives than Canadian representatives living in the colony. However it advantaged the Canadian s who had less people but equal say. By the 1860s, the situation had changed as Quebec having less people but equal say. Now since Canada and Quebec had equal say all they did was turn each other down which resulted into not a lot of new bills that were passed by Canada. The outcome of this was that the politicians from Quebec and Ontario look towards a new political system. However one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benefits Of A Quality Retirement Plan A quality retirement plan can help companies retain top talent and attract highly skilled new employees to offset the talent loss that comes with an aging workforce. According to Scott Boyd, SVP, National Platform Distribution and Relationships and head of Healthcare Solutions for Prudential Retirement, in Hartford, Connecticut. Plan sponsors and their providers or advisors when discussing retirement plan design tend to have conversations about plan costs instead, they should consider the more implicit costs of employees not being able to retire. Boyd tells Plansponsor that it costs employers an estimated $8,500 per year per person and year due to increased health care and benefits costs and lost productivity. In addition, a lack of mobility for middle managers may cause them to leave for competitors which could cost anywhere from 100 percent to 300 percent in salary to replace them. The implicit costs can be bigger than what plan sponsors spend on their retirement plans, Boyd says. Prudential trademarked a service it now offers calls DC Optimization. This new product is a process that now provides plan sponsors with information from defined contribution (DC) actuaries to help them design an efficient retirement plan that supports their organizations business objectives.
