The Value of a Life Countries less privileged than America face the reoccurring issue of being
taken advantage of. This occurs because these countries have high unemployment rates and are
in poverty so they are given jobs through American factories. This process, though, is not always
a fair one. Haiti and China are both countries with bad labor regulations, usually by American
influence, and this hurts the welfare of these countries as a whole, the individuals in these
countries, and the morality of America. Dupuy (2014) writes that Haiti s people, trapped
working in factories for cheap labor, are faced with a hard life and various brutalities. Both
adults and children must live these lives of horrible situations where they have no other choice
than to work at extremely low wages because of Haiti s poverty levels. Whether they are sent
away from their families to live in the city, in order to have a better life, or they re born poor and
go to the city to work everyday, these people do not live a good life. The children who work have
long hours, usually from early dawn until night, and go home, sometimes only to be abused.

I am very proud of my performance of my widget speech. I prepared by writing my speech in
advanced and practicing it for 20 minutes every night. The only thing I regret about the preparation
of this speech was waiting till the last minute to make the poster. But I thought the delivery went
well. I think the only thing that went badly wrong was me having a brain fart on the speech when I
had had it memorized for two days. I think it was the intimidation of peers that made me nervous.
Overall, I achieved my speech calmly and confidently. I scored myself a 6 in this category because
I did not rush the speech and I did not have a shaky speaking voice. I also scored myself a 6 for

The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with
castles and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake
against the modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again
the newer one has realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both
films, certain lines are missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the
same but in the market it was hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise
of the villagers. Although Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the
language used in play sounded odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a
petrol station. So I think the older film did a better job with the language despite the hearing
difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality was good in both films, but I found the style in the
early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version
was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t really much between the two films in the
quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera techniques used, it was interesting to see
that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the families, Zeffirelli shot

I cried halfway throughout the story, not knowing what to expect for an ending. This is how I felt
when reading the Manga Fruit Basket, a story about a young orphan girl who meets a family that
is cursed by the Chinese zodiac. Overall this was a good manga; however, it may different for
someone starting out to read Manga. There could have been some changes to create a better

After reading other mangas, they may think back and agree the type of drawing can make a
difference. After reading Naruto, Black Butler, Detective Conan, and Skip Beat, these mangas
made me appreciated on the type of drawing Fruit Basket used. This is more of a
recommendation for readers, read other type of manga before reading Fruit Basket. The drawings
are nice enough for the manga; however, if you don t understand the reason throughout the
drawing, the plot may seem more confusing. Especially when some of the characters may look
way too similar to each other. In this manga, the first time I was getting confused on who was
who, especially when adding their zodiac character. After becoming accustomed to manga for 3
years, I was able to come back and reread the manga and have no confusion.
