Biological Molecules Lab Report
Questions for Thought: Lab 4 Identifying Biological Molecules
Based on your results from Part 1, which substances responded to the Lugol s test and which to the
Benedict s test? Did these same substances respond to the same reagents after the substances were
hydrolyzed with hot HCL? Are your results consistent with how Lugol s and Benedict s reagents
work? Explain your answers.
In part 1, data sheet 1: Biological Molecules Test section C Lugol s the only positive polysaccharide
was starch which tested as a deep blue back color. As for section D, Lugol s test after hydrolysis all
the polysaccharides were negative yielding a yellow color. However looking at section A Benedict

Milk pounder yielded a very light sheer orange at 80 degrees Celsius. For section B, Benedict s
test after hydrolysis several reducing sugars produced positive test results including glucose,
sucrose, raffinose, starch and milk powder. That being said most positive results were organic in
color however raffinose produced a brown color (closer to dark orange). Looking at the overall
data, starch responded to both reagents for section B, Benedict s after hydrolysis and section C,
Lugol s meaning both were positive test results. However for section A, Benedict s test before
hydrolysis, Starch did not yield a positive result. Our test results were almost exact with how
Benedict s and Lugol s reagents work. Quoting straight from the lab manual, Benedict s reagent
is a alkaline (basic) solution of copper ions that change colors in the presence of reducing sugars
and heat. Low concentrations of reducing sugars give a yellow to orange precipitates; higher
concentrations give red to brown precipitates. Nonreducing sugars give no precipitate or color
change Thought our test results never yielded red negative results my lab partner and I did find
test results that were yellow and orange positives or down negative results. As for the Lugol s test

The Big Bang And The Biblical Creation Theory
Even though the Big Bang and the Biblical Creation story seem to fit together, there are still lots
of scientists who claim that people do not need to invoke a higher being to prove how the
universe began. John Lennox discusses Hawking in his books and his view on religion which is
that the concept of God, or the gods, is a placeholder for human ignorance a God of the Gaps ,
who will increasingly be displaced as the gaps in our knowledge are filled by scientific
explanations (Lennox 23). This a very popular view of religion, voiced by Hawking s himself.
Atheists believe that science and religion can never mix, and with every scientific advancement,
the human race relies less and less on religion and a God to answer all of their questions. With
every scientific advancement made, science is getting closer and closer to what religion has been
saying for thousands of years. The Big BangTheory and the Biblical Creationism Story both have
many perceived differences, but despite their major faults and the handful of other possibilities, the
two theories provide a fuller understanding of the beginning of the universewhen both explanations
are in use. At about one hundredth of a second, the earliest time about which we can speak with any
confidence, the temperature of the universe was about a hundred thousands million degrees
Centigrade. This is much hotter than in the center of even the hottest star, so hot, in fact, that none
of the components of ordinary matter, molecules,

The Use of Steroids and Performance Enhancing Drugs in...
I have chosen to write my paper on the topic of steroids and performance enhancing substances
that are used today in sports. In this paper I hope to focus on the steroids and performance
enhancing drugs and how they have become a problem in sports. An anabolic steroid is a substance
that is related to male sex hormones, known as testosterone. The word Anabolic means muscle
building. The word steroidsis just referred to as a drug name or a class of drug. Some athletes have
made the decision that they would like to jump higher, run faster, throw harder and hit 100 home
runs. Well, this can be accomplished through hard work, dedication, and practice can t it? Some
athletes feel the need to take a shortcut to being the best, so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example of this is that a study was done at a private treatment center for dependence, 227 men
admitted of using heroin or other opioids. (Pope and Katz, 1988).
Today, not only athletes but also others abuse anabolic steroids to enhance their performance
and for the non athletes they want to improve their physical appearance. The majority of steroids
are taken through injection by a needle; done so in cycles of weeks or months, this is also called
cycling these individuals who are engaging in steroid use are putting themselves at risk for HIV
/AIDS or hepatitis, which can cause serious damage to the liver. Cycling is taking multiple doses
of steroids over a certain period of time, which includes stopping and starting again. Users also do a
thing called stacking which is simply combining several types of steroids to maximize their
effectiveness while minimizing negative effects.
An article done by ESPN states that, There should be no controversy over anabolic steroid use in
athletes non medical use of anabolic steroids is illegal and banned by most, if not all, major sports
organizations. Why don t we drug test the athletes if steroid use is illegal? Coakley states that, Drug
testing is needed to protect the health of athletes and to relieve athletes of the pressures they feel to
take potentially dangerous substances to keep up

Ghost Soldiers Book Summary
Ghost Soldiers is a book that chronicles the horrific and tragic events that happened to the prisoners
of the Japanese camp in Cabanatuan. The book intertwines two main timelines; the treatment of the
POWs in Japanese custody, starting from the death march and continuing through the rescue
mission, and the story of the Rangers assignment and how it was formed. The Bataan Death March
was the march that brought the POWs to the Cabanatuan camp. Many were shot just for slowing
down and almost all of the prisoners were severely dehydrated during the march. That lead to many
of them drinking dirty and infested water. When they reached the camp, disease and infection ran
wild. Many POWs were tortured and starved, some to death, while many others... Show more

They encountered many obstacles such as delaying 24 hours due to Japanese soldiers leaving
the camp unexpectedly. This book shows the courage of all soldiers and prisoners involved in
these events. Even with such an amazing and thrilling plot base, this book was incredibly difficult
to sit and read. Readers find themselves becoming lost and rereading passages and pages. While I
greatly respect all of the prisoners and soldiers for their courage and strength during this incredibly
troublesome encounter, this book did their valor no justice. Although this book is incredibly
descriptive and detailed, it is frequently thorough to a fault. It often takes the author three pages to
describe something that has little to no relevance to the actual plot. These little sub stories are often
left unresolved. The fact that the author goes completely off topic and rambles and then just leaves
it untouched for the rest of the story, adds to the already confusing intertwining plots and timelines.
The actual mission that the Rangers endured was entrancing all on its own . There is absolutely no
need for pages upon pages of useless side missions and

Impact Bumpers On Truck Trailers
Currently, rear impact guards on truck trailers are effective at up to 30 mph. These bumpers are
also known as ICC bumpers or underride guards. That speed was set because the crash protection
standards that must protect occupants of passenger vehicles is set at 30 mph. However, because
passenger vehicles how must protect occupants that are involved in frontal impact crashes at up to
35 mph, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a notice of
proposed rule making that requires ICC bumpers to be withstand a crash at up to 35 mph.
The ICC bumpers are required on most trailers and semitrailers so that should a vehicle hit the
trailer from the rear, the guards keep the vehicle from going under the trailer. According to the
NHTSA, many newer trailers already meet this regulation. If the regulation is put in place, it would
affect Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any time a smaller vehicle, especially a compact vehicle, runs into the back of a large trailer, it
has the potential to go so far under the trailer that the bottom of the trailer could decapitate or
otherwise harm those in the passenger vehicle. ICC bumpers prevent this from happening at speeds
under 35 or 30 mph.
Trucks Without Underride Guards or ICC Bumpers
Some trucks, such as dump trucks, are not required to have ICC bumpers. Although the ICC
bumpers don t protect vehicles that hit the trailer or trucks at the outer edges, the bumpers have
saved many lives in crashes where the vehicle struck a truck or trailer from the inner edges to the
center. Because they do work, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has asked the
NHTSA to require that rear impact guards are installed on dump trucks and other trucks that are not
required to have them.

The Problem Of Providing Coverage Using A Group Of Mobile...
The problem of providing coverage using a group of mobile agents is investigated, where it is
desired to minimize the overall coverage metric (service cost) while achieving maximum
coverage with minimum actuator energy required by each agent. In addition, a distributed multi
agent area coverage control (MAACC) law is then provided which guarantees the convergence
of agents to the optimal configuration with respect to the cost (coverage metric) function. A
common assumption in all of the coverage control results is that the distribution of sensory
information in the environment is known apriori by all agents. The proposed cooperative area
coverage control framework is based on two interdependent tasks: (i) online learning of the
coverage area and storing of the data in the form of a probability map ; and (ii) utilization of the
probability map (which is used as a search map) and other data collected to compute online a
positional error trajectory (e(t)) for the agents to follow at specified sampling time steps. The group
of agents is considered as being a group of autonomous agents which exchange data but ultimately
make their own decisions based on the received data collected during an area coverage mission. In
addition to the probability map, each agent in a multi agent system transmits its position
information to its neighbours and receives the same information from them. The agents possess the
probability maps (made possible via time varying density function) of targets

Terrorist Groups and Impact Essay
Terrorist group and impact
Introduction
HAMAS (Harakat al Muqawamah al Islamiyya) is the Arabic word for Zeal and also known as
Islamic Resistance Movement. It is a notorious terrorist organization in the Middle East and George
Bush stated that Hamas is one of the deadliest terror organizations in the world today (Jensen, p.1,
2009).
Origins and sources
Hamas was formed in 1987 as the Muslim brotherhood (Ikhwan al Muslimin) in Palestinian by late
Ahmad Yassin, Abdel Aziz al Rantissi and Mohammad Taha. It is estimated that it has unknown
supporters and sympathizers but increasing to thousands (US department of state, 2005).

The group mainly operates in Palestine as well as in West Bank and Gaza strip. It has also
presences in Syria, Lebanon and Gulf States (Foreign Terrorist organizations, 2004). The Hamas
annual budget is estimated to be $70 million dollars with 50% of its funds comes from Saudi
Arabia through Islamic charity organizations. Iran also provides further $3 million dollars and
support from Palestinian expatriates and other Arab states (Wikipedia, 2010).
Ideology
The group principles introduced in 1988 in a form of charter based on Islamist document and
declaring Jihad (in the sense of armed battle) as the only solution against Israel (Midestweb,
2007). The charter also cites The Protocols of the Elders of Zion which emphasizes on anti
Semitic forgery. The Hamas and Islamistradicalists see the Zionist and freemasons as the major
calamites to the world (Midestweb, 2007). As well as calling for all Muslims to return to the faith
(Gruber, 2007).
Aims and objectives
The main goal for the group is to have an Islamic state by expelling the Jews in Israel/Palestine in
accordance with the Islamic law. In recent years the group has moderated its goals by indicating
that it would like a favorable Israel Palestine agreement (Foreign Terrorist organizations, 2004).
However, Hamas did state in the 2006 election manifesto that the continuance of the arm struggle
against Israel occupation of the Palestinian region (Wikipedia, 2010).

When emotional challenges are present, they can stunt intellectual progress. With patience, Torey

schoolwork. Reading this book greatly affected the way I will interact with children with
disabilities and their families. My current field placement is teaching art at a Middle School. Each
class consists of students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, as well as students with special needs
including giftedness. My cooperating teacher has taught me a great deal about differentiating
lessons. Torey Hayden has showed me that it is not enough to differentiate lessons or plan
adaptations for our students with exceptionalities. We truly have to look at them as a complete
human being, and acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of every student in our classroom.
Because of this book, I have not been afraid to speak with Mark* who has downs syndrome, or
Alicia who has a cognitive impairment and hearing problems. I have tried to get to know my
students with exceptionalities as well as all of my students as individuals, and understand their
backgrounds. In the future I will continue to treat each student as a unique person and get to know
them and their families before passing judgment. The other important lesson I learned was that
research and reflection are essential to good teaching. Torey Hayden had quite a few unorthodox

Business Model Final
Business Model Final2 Business models have a huge impact on how an organizations operate. It is
crucial that an organization chose a business model before inception in order to succeed. Basically,
business models have become the new basis of competition, replacing product features and benefits
as the playing field on which companies emerge as dominant or laggards (Plantes, 2013).
The business model canvas is an excellent choice for businesses to use when starting a business. It
was created by Alex Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur. The Business Model Canvas, is a strategic
management and entrepreneurial tool and it allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and
pivot your business model (The Business Model Canvas, 2015).
From a business standpoint, the business model canvas is easy to use and it comes in different
forms of software. Start up businesses can use the model in a variety of ways. The business model
canvas can help them determine who their customer base will be and aid them in finding out how to
reach them. In today?s business world, competition is everywhere. A start up business must be able
to be competitive in order to succeed. Finally, a start up business must be able to understand the
competition and where they stack up against them.
A good example is a children?s clothing store. They must be able to understand what has made their

Compassion Fatigue In Nursing Research
The oxford dictionary defines caring in two ways. First, as displaying kindness and concern for
others . Second, as the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves,
especially on account of age or illness . Based on these definitions caring can be seen as an
integral part of nursing practice. In fact in the article Applying the Ethics of Care to Your
Nursing Practice Vicki D. Lachman states that caring and nursing are so intertwined that nursing
always appeared on the same page in a Google search for the definition of caring (2012). Caring
is demonstrated by actions, not just in kind words. The 2016 Gallup poll shows that clients too are
aware of the care shown by nursing professionals. In this poll, nurses were... Show more content on

These are just the effects on the nurse, but patients too feel the repercussions when they have a
nurse experiencing compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue and burnout have been associated with
decreased patient satisfaction and even medication errors. As previously mentioned compassion
fatigue is common in nurses who have patients whose conditions do not improve. According to Dr.
Todaro Francheschi the most troubling thing for a great number of nurses... is to face death
(p.85). A second factor that can contribute to compassion fatigue and burn out is bullying in the
workplace. Bullying can come from peers as well as superordinates. A third factor is moral
distress. Moral distress happens when an individual wants to do the right thing but it is almost
impossible to do so. Moral distress can stem from limited resources or environments where nurses
feel that they are not heard. One example of moral distress, is the nurse that leaves work
questioning whether or not she did everything she possibly could for her patient due to limited
resources. Other predictors of compassion fatigue include, stress, age, mindfulness, apathy, and
continuous exposure to

The Trials of Changing Tradition in Shirley JonesВґ The...
Tradition is an answer to how peoples live their lives. For many it is a social norm, how they
have lived culturally for several generations. Despite the significance of tradition in many
societies, it can still be very harmful to the people involved. Tradition doesn t necessarily have to
have a positive feature for many folks. In the end tradition could cause more harm than it is meant
for good. Thus it is really important to change traditional values of communities to improve the
quality of life for many people. In the short stories The Lottery by Shirley Jacksonand Lather and

U.s. Dprk, Nuclear Weapons, And Violation Of Human Rights
Summary This briefing will address the necessities of United Nations to pressure the Democratic
People of the Republic Korea, also known as North Korea, by adding sanction to the country. As
a hegemonic state, the United States is a significant state to play a role as the leader to enforce
DPRK to withdraw itself from the threat of the global security and morality. DPRK had broken
many regulations of the UN treaties on militarization, nuclear activities, and violation of human
rights. Although the US is one the countries that has the most stock of nuclear weapons , it is
aware of its destructiveness and vulnerability more than any country that hold nuclear weapons
today. After continuous negotiations to suspend its conductivity of nuclear activities, DPRK had
repeatedly engaged and disengaged its pursuit for a nuclear reform. Should the U.S. violate
DPRK sovereignty and prioritize world peace and order? As an established great militarily
powerful state, the United States must persuade the UN to keep adding sanctions against the
DPRK. Background Korea as One It is necessary to know the process of how Democratic People
of the Republic of Korea was established and how its brutality and thirst for power became
unmanageable. DPRK was not a demonic state since birth. It was once an empire with both the

The Psychodynamic Theory
In my opinion, the psychodynamic theory makes most sense because it gives the background of
sexual drive as far as the id, ego, and superego. Freud came up with a theory which explained the
desire to want to do something and having balance. With this theory, most child molesters use their
id and not their ego. They think about their wants and needs and not what is morally right. Also,
cognitive distortion makes sense too because it breaks down the thoughts of a child molester.
According to the research, molesters think if a person did not resist, then they wanted it and a lot
of sexual offenders think like that by taking it as consent sex when it is not. For example, if a child
just lays there and do not say stop they think the child must want

Argentina is the 2nd largest South American and Latin American region. With a population of just

that influence the way that people spend.
Marketing in Argentina is communicated in ways very similar to the United States. Radio and
television are large factors in how marketers reach consumers in Argentina. There are 170 AM radio
stations and 2000 FM radio stations in Argentina with about twelve million radio sets in use and 46

With a 37.2% GDP increase the economy found itself expanding, consolidating, and becoming
more multinational. Consumers were well off and becoming wealthier as the GDP rose from
1991 to 1998. They experienced a great deal of product differentiation ranging from new types of
products, to better quality of products, and more expensive products. However, in 1998 this all
had to change because of a 7% decrease in GDP over the next year. During this time consumers
had to learn how to focus their spending on sub brands and discounted offers to save money.
Marketers and businesses had to adjust also by switching their focus from product differentiation
to cost cutting strategies. Between 1998 and 2000 there was an increase of 36% percent in the
number of retail stores in the country but a fall of 23% in sales. This statistic shows how tough of
a time that both consumers and businesses had to adjust to in order to try to slow down the

Agriculture Myths And Facts
Agriculture Myths and Facts
Melissa Clark
Murray State University
Over the years agricultural industries, especially the food industry, have developed negative
reputations, all due to made up myths that people have chosen to believe in. Some of those myths
include: farmers are trying to hide the way they run their businesses, the food system is controlled
by select large corporations more worried about money than consumer satisfaction, and crops that
are not affected by herbicides are bad because they remain normal when treated. Many of these
allegations come from people who are poorly educated of how the food industry works. Let s see if
we can clear up a few things and get our facts straight.
One way the food industry s name has declined over the past years is that people believe farmers
are trying to hold sometime of veil over our eyes to distract us from how our food is actually raised,
processed, and sold. People assume that just because a few ... Show more content on

grow among their crops so a minimum amount of tillage is necessary to maintain the crop.

believe it is greatly affected by insecticides.
Most myths are produced from the ignorance of some people who don t know how their food is

National Regulation For Chambers Of Commerce
2.1.1.National regulation for chambers of commerce
CCMA is a private company that has private and public services. Public services are regulated by
National Government (Confecamras, n.d.), while private services works with market logic and
compete with other companiesВґ services.
Since CCMA develops some public services, it can be affected by normative changes, which could
imply for the company a reduction of its incomes or a rise of its operational costs.
Due to these facts the CCMA must reduce its level of dependency of political factors, generating
more incomes through its private services, which means that this public threat makes evident an
opportunity of developing new services and growing the scope of the actual private services.
Besides CCMA must be aware of changes in regulations.
2.1.2.A strong brand
The CCMA has a recognized brand in the region where it offers its services. This has been
achieved due to the companyВґs presence in that market for 100 years, and the number of
companies associated that it has (CCMA, n.d; Figueroa N., 2015).
Another factor that helps company to have a strong brand is the projects and programs that this
company develop with local governments, which allows it positioning its brand and promote its
services (Osorio, 2004; Arias, 2014, El Tiempo, n.d.). This strength of the CCMA is an asset that
helps positioning companyВґs services in the mind of its customers (Hollensen, 2015).

Support Group That I Had Been At The Same Time
For this assignment I chose to go to a support group that I had been to before. I chose to do this
because I wanted to see what would change or what the differences, were between this time and
the first time I had went to this meeting. This assignment was very interesting and very difficult
for me at the same time. The main reason it was so difficult for me, was I still am not driving too
often. So this setback gave me more hurtles to jump over and through, just so I could get to a
meeting. Because of this I really struggled trying to find a support groupthat would actually allow
me to attended meetingsat the times were people were available to drive me. Then once again it hit
me, like before, I finely asked my friend if her mother who is a nurse could help me out. My friend
s mother said yes. She knew of a caregivergroup a caregiver group for cancer and was even
willing to drive me to the group. The only terms were that I would feel out a paper saying I
agreed to the conditions of the group. And the information shard in the meeting at no
circumstances was to be talked about outside the group. For this assignment I attended the
Cancer Caregivers Support Group in the clinical center at Froedtert Hospital. The meeting took
place on October 22nd 2016 at night 5:30pm to 7:00pm at night. This caregiver group was a
group of fifteen to twenty people who specifically were planning on becoming a caregiver for a
family member who was battling cancer. The meeting was held in a

Slang And Its Effect On Everyday Life Essay
The use of slang in my life today is very evident. My roommates and I always talk slang during
the day and the night. I don t use slang very much in text messages or emails partly because I
don t feel the need and I am normally emailing professors and staff members who expect me to
respect them by writing with proper English. Most of the time my roommates and I use slang
when we are just messing or playing around. Therefore, the use of slang in my classroom will be
mainly for educational purposes and limited because of the focus on standard English and the
negative view it may put upon the child. There is no doubt that people use slang almost every
day. These people might be just using it for fun and mocking others, while some may use it to
protest the use of standard English. The book, How English Works, by Curzan and Adams talks
about how slang is used in everyday life and thrives in places that involve pop music, athletics,
narcotics, and other various factors (Curzan and Adams, 2012). I feel that Curzan and Adams are
right on point when they say slang thrives on these main ideas. For example, my roommates
listen to music that has slang involved in it. My roommates and I normally sing to some of the
songs while they are playing or even after they are done playing and use slang without
consciously knowing because it is in a song. Normally these songs get stuck in our heads and we
end up singing the lyrics out loud using slang almost every day. Most of the songs that we

The French Revolution And French Revolutions
Although the American and French revolutions both took place in the late 18th century, both
fought for independence, and both portrayed patriotism, the revolutions are markedly different in
their origins; one which led to the world s longest lasting democracy and the other to a Napoleonic
Dictatorship.
Political revolutions in America and France happened because people felt dissatisfied with the way
their country was run. In North America they rebelled against rule from a foreign power, they
wanted to rule themselves. In France the citizens executed their weak king and tried to introduce a
democracy. Many features distinguish the French Revolution of English and American revolutions
that preceded it. Finances: Both the American Revolution and the French Revolution were
products of desperate economic conditions. France was having a budget crisis, they were
bankrupt. Years of bad budgetary decisions and failed efforts to fix the problems. The king was
forced to call together the estates general, a meeting of all three groups of the classes. During the
meeting of the Estates General, the Third Estate spoke out on their unfair treatment. However, the
nobles and clergy also felt that they too were being treated unfairly. Images of hungry and poor
French peasants are still familiar.
France was in crisis. Food was scarce, prices were high and the government was bankrupt. In order

7 Strategies For Making Profit On Amazon
Struggling to find your e commerce Niche: 7 strategies for making profit on Amazon

when I realized that eCommerce is a great platform and can make you a lot of money if used
wisely. Here are some of the very basic tips that a lot of sellers ignore and hence end up stacking
piles of inventory that never get sold.
1.Identify the need

techniques. It s only because they have a desire to own things and not because they are influenced

I normally try to find a local supplier as a backup for timely delivery. It s important to have
multiple backup suppliers.
3.Diversifying products
Once you explore different niches and finalize your product line, make sure you cover multiple
products related to that niche. If you already found good suppliers and demand for a craft product,
try to include a variety of products that come under arts and craft. You can t just rely on one product
that has generated profit. Buying patterns are random and you never know when the sales may
decline. It s beneficial to diversify not only because you can t rely on a single product but also
because your customers may end up adding on an item from the same seller.Add on items like
mouse and keyboard most definitely generate some extra revenue with a laptop.
4.Recording Ideas
In order to remain on the top you need to know what s going on in the market, what are people
looking for. If you start recording every detail that may hint towards a potential best seller, and
immediately work on researching the right suppliers, there are more chances of discovering a
profitable niche rather than blindly following what s already selling in the market by the big
players. Record all the ideas that you brainstorm in your notes even if they may seem silly. You
never know how multiple ideas may connect to form a totally unique concept.

Critical Analysis Of Self Leadership And Positive Psychology
Introduction
Utilising a combined self leadership and positive psychology perspective, I will self analyse my
strengths and weaknesses through the use of questionnaires completed throughout the semester to
gain a deeper understanding of my personality traits in my chosen career. The career path I have
chosen is Human Resources (HR) and everything analysed will be in respect of that path.
A definition of self leadership is the process of influencing oneself to establish the self direction
and self motivation needed to perform (Manz, 1995). Positive Psychology is the study of the
conditions and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups,
and institutions (Gable Haidt, 2005; Sheldon King, 2001).
Critical analysis of Self leadership and Positive Psychology
Self leadership is very important for a number of reasons, including:
1.To enhance job effectiveness and develop personally and professionally.
2.To achieve career potential and growth such as promotions, salary increases, job satisfaction and
job choice.
3.To enhance individual and group well being such as health and happiness.
4.Becoming an emotionally intelligent professional capable of leading effectively.
By gaining a clearer understanding of self leadership the elements of positive psychology can be
incorporated. Positive psychology looks at the circumstances and processes that enable individuals,
teams and organisations to grow and develop at a high level.

The Modern Epic of Batman Essay
An epic is a long narrative poem that tells the exploits of an epic hero. Epics are comprised of an
epic hero and an epic battle between good and evil. The earliest known epic today is The Epic of
Gilgamesh. This tale is about Gilgamesh s search for eternal life. Although epics have been around
for thousands of years, the epic tradition still has an enormous impact on modern writing and film.
In fact, Batman, a story about Bruce Wayne trying to conquer all criminals in Gotham, can be seen
as modern epic. An epic must have a vast setting, start in medias res and consist epithets. In The
Epic of Gilgamesh, he travels to an island that no human has ever been before and farther into the

Heroic heroes, Batman and Gilgamesh, perform numerous brave deeds. Before Bruce becomes
Batman, he receives expert training from the League of Shadows high in the mountains where he

same concept of a special weapon, his armor. In both of Batman and Gilgamesh s lives, they
experience a tremendously traumatic event that changes their outlook on the world and life.
Batman, Bruce Wayne, watches his parents be murdered in front of his own eyes as a young child
and then blames himself for their death for his entire life, until he is taught to forget the past and

An epic battle is a fight between good and evil. In the battle, the epic hero and his enemy fight for
their countries or their damsel in distress. Battles are in an enormous scale, involve supernatural
weapons, and the universe is involved. Ferries and the entire city of Gotham are the victims of the
fights among Batman and the Joker. When the Joker and Batman engage in hand to hand combat,
Batman must go through various stories of the building and get past all of the Jokers men without
being killed. Throughout the entire film, Batman and the cops try and take down the Mafia and cut

Comparing Song Of Songs And Sappho s Love Poems
Both the Song of Songs and Sappho s love poems stem from the core concept of the overall
intimacy and indescribable nature of love. Both reach to describe love by comparing to the beauty
of nature and the underlying feelings presented by nature; however, the two differ in their specific
context of love. The Songof Songs covers what would be today called the honeymoon phase where
the loveis sweet, perfect and what the world envisions, whereas Sappho takes the melancholic side
of love, focused on entrapment, and overall heartbreak. These differences create completely
different stories of love, one of life long happiness, and one of chasing love. The Song of Songs
develops a theme of love with its use of naturalistic comparisons. Throughout the song, both the

over the help of Aphrodite to help satisfy her need for a fulfilling love, as is a common theme in
her poems. Present in both Song of Songs and Sappho s love poems, is the comparison of the
rushing feeling of love to a stream of water, a protective, but fruitful apple tree, all placed within a
pleasant garden. The stream in the Song of Songs is a spring shut up (132), representing a love that
wishes to flow/be consummated, but ultimately cannot because of societal limitations, whereas

Advancements in the Development of Prosthetic Devices
Prosthetic devices are needed by many people throughout the world every year due to injuries and
health complications. However, choosing the correct prosthetic and being able to afford the device
can seem a bit challenging. Prosthetic devices are made up of many different components and
different prostheticsare made for different lifestyles. Designing, making, and assembling these
pieces can be very costly. In fact, a prosthetic leg can range anywhere from $5,000 to $50,000,
and even the most expensive prosthetics withstands use for only three to five years (Mohney).
Regardless of the current cost, technology is advancing and we are developing new ways to
make these devices. Prosthetic devices are improving by becoming more technologically
advanced, cheaper, and more widely available. The history of prosthetics dates back many years
to when they were originally made around 1500 B.C. Prosthetic devices were originally used to
take the place of limbs but had no other purpose. Most prosthetic devices during Roman times were
just wooden or steel pegs (Patel). In the 1500s, Ambroise Pare introduced amputationto the medical
community, and shortly after, made artificial limbs to take the place of the arm and elbow earning
him the name, the father of prosthetics. In the late 1600s, Pieter Andriannszoon Verduyh developed

The Great Gatsby No Name Woman Essay
Society has created an image that women should be delicate and dainty, that all women should
aspire to be mothers and homemakers. As a result, society has held women to different standards
than men. Women are held to different expectations than men in terms of beauty, loyalty, and
traditional obligations especially as subservient housewives. There is an urgent need to change the
mindset of society. The central issue facing young women in today s society is the standards that
hold them to higher expectations than men in the areas of beauty, romantic relationships, and
household duties. Society has created the stereotype that women are petite and dainty. No Name
Womanemphasizes this expectation by elaborating on the extremes that women go to look
beautiful. The author comments on the techniques used to pluck eyebrows saying It especially hurt

Truffaut s Auteur Theory
For nearly the length of time that the film industry has existed, theorists have extensively
speculated about the authorship of film and who should receive credit for the creative capital that is
created. In the United States, as the executive studios in New York expanded and began to exert
more control over Hollywood, speculation emerged about how much control these studios had over
the films being produced. It was in the midst of this environment that auteur theoryoriginated with
French theorist Truffaut s concept of politique de auteurs. Auteur theory argues that films are
characterized by the styles of their directors, who are the authors of the films. However, there are
many other theories about who should be credited as the authors... Show more content on

The main reason auteur theory is popular because it personalizes the author of films (in
comparison to the de humanization of saying that a big studio is responsible); however, this
unnecessarily makes directors into heroes that they aren t and celebrating them only as a more
desirable alternative to the studio explanation. Schatz points to multiple authors, mostly arguing
against the director as author focus of auteur theory; by rejecting auteur theory, he is advocating
for broadening the scope to consider the larger system by which films are produced. The closer
we look at Hollywood s relations of power and hierarchy of authority during the studio era, at its
division of labor and assembly line production process, the less sense it makes to assess
filmmaking or film style in terms of the individual director or any individual, for that matter
(Schatz, 459). Films are not simply the product of an individual s human expression, but a
conglomerate of institutional forces. The style of any individual a star, director, writer, costumer
designer, light operator, or cinematographer fuses with the studio s resources its staff, history, and
institutional focus (genre, stars, etc.). He says that famous examples which people cite to prove
that the directors are the true authors of films (John

Analysis Of The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken is one of the simplest poems written by Robert Frost. It has 4 stanzas, with 5
lines each. The poem presents a crossroads at which the author finds himself. He concludes that
both roads are the same, with the same amount of fallen and untouched leaves. He, however,
chooses one because it seems better to him. He then proceeds on this path, telling himself he
might one day come back to the other. The reality is the opposite, unfortunately. He never does.
The most attractive feature of this poem is the fact that it is relatable to everyone. It represents a
conundrum of choice that is present in every stage of an individual s life. The poem is filled
with a lot of depth and underlying meaning while at the same time having the right form and
composition. The Road Not Taken is constantly misconstrued. Many read it and misinterpret the
words and general meaning of the poem. This literary work is about what one does with their
life, how hard a decision is, and how important it is in determining success and happiness. The
poet acknowledges that the different paths are actually similar, as described in the first line of
the second stanza where the author states that they are just as fair (Frost 6), which mirrors real
life where people assume the grass is always greener. Frost further alludes to this idea by stating
in the first line of the third stanza, both that morning equally lay (Frost 11). He acknowledges
that he might never come back again to the first path even though he hopes to. In the fifth line of
the fourth stanza, Frost admits that though he might want to come back to the path one day, he
knows he never will. He goes on to declare that he shall be saying it with a sigh (Frost 16).
Interestingly, he ends the short poem by stating that he took the road less traveled by and it made
all the difference (Frost 19 20). Consequently, this conclusion creates confusion in the mind of
the reader. Was the road less traveled, or were the two roads the same? It seems that at different
points of his life, the author realizes different aspects of the two roads. The Road Not Taken is the

How To Drive Rotate Tires
If you want your vehicle to last many years, maintenance is a must. Keeping things in order under
the hood is important, but there are many other parts of your vehicle that require your attention,
including your tires. As the summer kicks off and you become preoccupied with trips, get
togethers and many other fun activities, you ll want to remember to take care of tires to ensure
they last through the season. Here s how to care for your summer tires in Athens County, OH.
Check your tirepressure: As you make your way from Point A to Point B and anywhere else you
need to go, changes in your tire pressure may occur. When at the incorrect pressure, your steering,
braking and gas mileage can be affected. Between the hot surfaces you drive... Show more content

Since your tire tread depth has an impact on your steering, braking and more, uneven wear is not
good. With a rotation of your tires at some point during the summer, ideally after you notice there
is a problem with wear, this will allow your tires to last longer and prevent the many problems
while you are driving your vehicle. Repair flat tires immediately: A lot of different things can
cause a flat tire. A puncture from a nail or other sharp object, road construction and even the hot
surfaces you drive on can leave your tire flat and in need of repair. Should this happen to you,
you ll want to get your flat repaired immediately, especially if you want to avoid further damage
or having to purchase a whole new tire for your vehicle. Every part of your car needs to be
maintained if you want your car to function properly. Most of the time, you may be focused on
what is under the hood, but you should not neglect your tires or any other part of your vehicle.
Since one part can easily affect another when it malfunctions, it is important to put forth the effort
to keep your vehicle on the road and avoid having the deal with problems that could have been

Abstract
This article studies a novel approach to improve membrane separation eciency { application of
external physical in uence (temperature dierence across the membrane). Oppositely directed
pressure and temperature gradients in membrane establish a molecular exchange ow when two
components of the binary gas mixture ow in the opposite directions through the membrane. The
model of gas separator based on this eect is studied numerically at dierent scales. At microscale (in
membrane channels) solution of the linearized Boltz mann equation is used. At macroscale
(external part of the device) the system of Navier Stokes equations for two component gas mixture
is solved using nite volume method adopted for low Mach number limit. Dependence of device
eciency on all of the dening parameters is studied and comparison with previous numerical
simulation of the device is made. The key feature of the device is that it can produce output gas
with any purity up to 100% with temperature dier ence of only 30K applied to the sides of

The Arts And Arts Education
Studies show that students in the arts outperformed their non arts peers on the SAT by 96 points,
while a child who has continued access to arts education has a 74 percent higher chance of
planning to attend college (Urist 9). The arts teach several lessons to children and they provide an
equal opportunity for everyone. The artsalso provide a different form of discipline and insight into
the real world. While others may say that sports make kids strive for good grades, the arts
support children in a different way. Others may also say funding should go towards core subjects,
but what they don t know is that the humanities use the core subjects during classes. Even though
fine arts are not exciting for everyone, they should receive more funding in schools because fine
arts keep kids out of trouble, provide a way to express oneself and help teenagers make life
decisions.
Every year fine arts and humanities programs are cut from high schools. The fine arts and
humanities programs are the studies of art, literature, dance, music or theater. The fine arts are both
extra curricular and everyday subjects. Even though Language Arts are considered a fine art, it is
also a regular core subject that is included in the school budget. In New York, the school budget
crisis happened in 1970 (Moskowitz 1). According to Eva Moscowitz, For example, Committee
members visited P.S. 155, a school in which the makeshift art room was separated from the
cafeteria by rows of lockers piled upon

The Impact Of U.s. Economy On The Housing Crisis
In 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research publicized that the U.S. Economy had entered
into a recession. The overall agreement of what was the primary cause of this recession was the
credit crisis from the bursting of the housing bubble. This lead the U.S. into the worst recession in
over sixty years (Holt).
The decade before the 2008 crisis, showed the development of a key factor that would later
contribute to the crisis. It was the dramatic increase in aggregate households indebtedness that had
become so severe in the United States. This large growth in household indebtedness was a direct
result in large by the significant and sustained expansion in residential mortgage lending. With the
growth in the residential mortgage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another economist by the name of Thomas Sowell stressed that the government s role in creating
the housing bubble. With the housing markets that had the largest home price increases were often
markets that the local government had forced land use restrictions on the amount of land available
for housing. Having relaxed mortgage lending standards were mainly the result of being
government influenced (Russo). During the 2008 recession, the Federal Housing Administration
increased its insurance activity to keep money flowing into the market. Without this government
agency s backing, it would have been much more challenging for the middle class to get a home
loan from the start of the recession (Griffith). A few large financial firms experienced financial
stress during the 2008 Recession and in response, the Federal Reserve provided the liquidity and
support through a variety of programs motivated to help the functions of financial markets and
institutions, and in effect limit the damage done to the U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve had
provided record amounts of monetary accommodation in response to the severity of the reduction
and the gradual return of the ensuing recovery. Finally, the financial crisis caused major reforms in
banking and financial regulation, which included congressional legislation that significantly
affected the Federal Reserve. One example is the

Hampton Inn And Homewood Suites Hotel
Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests will experience similar flows when staying at this multi
branded hotel. They will check in to their respective brand, park their vehicle on premise if
necessary, find their way onto the guestroom floors, and then utilize the amenities offered to them
such as the fitness center, pool, and the pantries located in each lobby. But throughout the hotel
there are design pros and cons that will have an impact on the overall experience of both Hampton
Inn and Homewood Suites guests.
Pros
Guests entering Homewood Suites only have one main vestibule entrance they can use to enter the
lobby. This entrance from the parking courtyard immediately puts guests in the front desk area. This
area is large enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whoever enters either lobby of the hotel will always be monitored by the front desk staff
Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests have the option to utilize the shared public space
available on the second floor this includes the fitness center, the pool, two meeting rooms and a
board room. For all aspects of their experience in this hotel, the Hampton Inn and the Homewood
Suites guest only expects to interact with their respective brand. This also applies to the shared
public space between both brands, so the second floor cannot feel separated to the guest. But the
amenities on this floor are arranged well enough so Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests
have access to every amenity on this floor. The corridor in front of the meeting rooms connects
guests to the entire floor and allows them to simultaneously share public space.
Cons
A guest entering the Hampton Inn from the New York Avenue entrance will reach the front desk
area and also come upon the second vestibule entrance from the parking courtyard. Since there is
a small area between the vestibule and front desk, this will become a bottleneck for the lobby;
guests will be clustered here waiting to check in. This area is also in front of the only path leading
to the elevator lobby, so the guests waiting for check in will obstruct other guests who are coming
back from the pantry area or from the outside of the hotel and are trying to reach the guestroom

Supply Chain Strategy Of A Convenience Store Chain
An attempt to be responsive from a convenience store chain should include the supply chain
strategy that fit with competitive factors such as high quality, quick response, flexibility, service
and innovation. First option can be expanding new stores in areas with existing clusters of stores.
This way, the store chain can gain quicker awareness among customers and receive high density
market presence. Just like 7 Eleven, after the growth of its stores, the company focuses on
increasing the number of original items that were available only at their stores. Company like Zara
also has the same strategy, where they products are displayed based on store locations, which
makes every store unique and local adaptive. Flexible hours can enhance... Show more content on

Last but not least, the delivery system worked on trust in order to reduce the delivery time spent
at each store. Therefore, if there is a mistake in delivery, the store personnel cannot inform the
delivery person right away and that might take even more time to fix. (c)Facility Location: To
ensure efficiency, 7 Eleven Japan have implemented a market dominate strategy to saturate an
area with stores. Based on the strategy, all manufacturing facilities are centralized to improve
brand awareness, and also lower the transportation cost by aggregating them and achieve
efficiency. Inventory management:7 Eleven Japan offered its stores a choice from a set of 5000
stock keeping units. Each store carried on average about 3000 stock keeping units depending on
local customer demand, and the food items were classified in four categories: (1) Chilled temp;
(2) Warm temp; (3) Frozen items; (4) Room temp. Transportation:7 Eleven Japan requires all
suppliers to deliver to their distribution center, and use their own trucks for replenishment from
store to store. It offered three times a day store delivery of all rice dishes, and twice a day
delivery of bread and other fresh food. In addition, there were four categories of temperature
controlled trucks, and each made deliveries to multiple retail stores. All deliveries were made
during off peak hours, and did not require the delivery person to be present when the store
personnel scanned in the

Did these same substances respond to the same reagents after the substances were hydrolyzed with hot HCL? Are your results consistent with how Lugol s and Benedict s reagents work? Explain your answers. In part 1, data sheet 1: Biological Molecules Test section C Lugol s the only positive polysaccharide was starch which tested as a deep blue back color. For section B, Benedict s test after hydrolysis several reducing sugars produced positive test results including glucose, sucrose, raffinose, starch and milk powder. Looking at the overall data, starch responded to both reagents for section B, Benedict s after hydrolysis and section C, Lugol s meaning both were positive test results. However for section A, Benedict s test before hydrolysis, Starch did not yield a positive result. Our test results were almost exact with how Benedict s and Lugol s reagents work. Quoting straight from the lab manual, Benedict s reagent is a alkaline (basic) solution of copper ions that change colors in the presence of reducing sugars and heat. Low concentrations of reducing sugars give a yellow to orange precipitates; higher concentrations give red to brown precipitates. Nonreducing sugars give no precipitate or color change Thought our test results never yielded red negative results my lab partner and I did find test results that were yellow and orange positives or down negative results. • 3. The Big Bang And The Biblical Creation Theory Even though the Big Bang and the Biblical Creation story seem to fit together, there are still lots of scientists who claim that people do not need to invoke a higher being to prove how the universe began. John Lennox discusses Hawking in his books and his view on religion which is that the concept of God, or the gods, is a placeholder for human ignorance a God of the Gaps , who will increasingly be displaced as the gaps in our knowledge are filled by scientific explanations (Lennox 23). This a very popular view of religion, voiced by Hawking s himself. Atheists believe that science and religion can never mix, and with every scientific advancement, the human race relies less and less on religion and a God to answer all of their questions. With every scientific advancement made, science is getting closer and closer to what religion has been saying for thousands of years. The Big BangTheory and the Biblical Creationism Story both have many perceived differences, but despite their major faults and the handful of other possibilities, the two theories provide a fuller understanding of the beginning of the universewhen both explanations are in use. At about one hundredth of a second, the earliest time about which we can speak with any confidence, the temperature of the universe was about a hundred thousands million degrees Centigrade. The book intertwines two main timelines; the treatment of the POWs in Japanese custody, starting from the death march and continuing through the rescue mission, and the story of the Rangers assignment and how it was formed. The Bataan Death March was the march that brought the POWs to the Cabanatuan camp. Many were shot just for slowing down and almost all of the prisoners were severely dehydrated during the march. While I greatly respect all of the prisoners and soldiers for their courage and strength during this incredibly troublesome encounter, this book did their valor no justice. Although this book is incredibly descriptive and detailed, it is frequently thorough to a fault. It often takes the author three pages to describe something that has little to no relevance to the actual plot. These little sub stories are often left unresolved. The fact that the author goes completely off topic and rambles and then just leaves it untouched for the rest of the story, adds to the already confusing intertwining plots and timelines. • 8. The Problem Of Providing Coverage Using A Group Of Mobile... The problem of providing coverage using a group of mobile agents is investigated, where it is desired to minimize the overall coverage metric (service cost) while achieving maximum coverage with minimum actuator energy required by each agent. In addition, a distributed multi agent area coverage control (MAACC) law is then provided which guarantees the convergence of agents to the optimal configuration with respect to the cost (coverage metric) function. A common assumption in all of the coverage control results is that the distribution of sensory information in the environment is known apriori by all agents. The proposed cooperative area coverage control framework is based on two interdependent tasks: (i) online learning of the coverage area and storing of the data in the form of a probability map ; and (ii) utilization of the probability map (which is used as a search map) and other data collected to compute online a positional error trajectory (e(t)) for the agents to follow at specified sampling time steps. The group of agents is considered as being a group of autonomous agents which exchange data but ultimately make their own decisions based on the received data collected during an area coverage mission. • 24. Slang And Its Effect On Everyday Life Essay The use of slang in my life today is very evident. My roommates and I always talk slang during the day and the night. I don t use slang very much in text messages or emails partly because I don t feel the need and I am normally emailing professors and staff members who expect me to respect them by writing with proper English. Most of the time my roommates and I use slang when we are just messing or playing around. Therefore, the use of slang in my classroom will be mainly for educational purposes and limited because of the focus on standard English and the negative view it may put upon the child. There is no doubt that people use slang almost every day. These people might be just using it for fun and mocking others, while some may use it to protest the use of standard English. The book, How English Works, by Curzan and Adams talks about how slang is used in everyday life and thrives in places that involve pop music, athletics, narcotics, and other various factors (Curzan and Adams, 2012). I feel that Curzan and Adams are right on point when they say slang thrives on these main ideas. For example, my roommates listen to music that has slang involved in it. My roommates and I normally sing to some of the songs while they are playing or even after they are done playing and use slang without consciously knowing because it is in a song. Normally these songs get stuck in our heads and we end up singing the lyrics out loud using slang almost every day. Most of the songs that we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Truffaut s Auteur Theory For nearly the length of time that the film industry has existed, theorists have extensively speculated about the authorship of film and who should receive credit for the creative capital that is created. In the United States, as the executive studios in New York expanded and began to exert more control over Hollywood, speculation emerged about how much control these studios had over the films being produced. It was in the midst of this environment that auteur theoryoriginated with French theorist Truffaut s concept of politique de auteurs. The main reason auteur theory is popular because it personalizes the author of films (in comparison to the de humanization of saying that a big studio is responsible); however, this unnecessarily makes directors into heroes that they aren t and celebrating them only as a more desirable alternative to the studio explanation. Schatz points to multiple authors, mostly arguing against the director as author focus of auteur theory; by rejecting auteur theory, he is advocating for broadening the scope to consider the larger system by which films are produced. The closer we look at Hollywood s relations of power and hierarchy of authority during the studio era, at its division of labor and assembly line production process, the less sense it makes to assess filmmaking or film style in terms of the individual director or any individual, for that matter (Schatz, 459). Films are not simply the product of an individual s human expression, but a conglomerate of institutional forces. The style of any individual a star, director, writer, costumer designer, light operator, or cinematographer fuses with the studio s resources its staff, history, and institutional focus (genre, stars, etc.). • 41. Analysis Of The Road Not Taken The Road Not Taken is one of the simplest poems written by Robert Frost. It has 4 stanzas, with 5 lines each. The poem presents a crossroads at which the author finds himself. He concludes that both roads are the same, with the same amount of fallen and untouched leaves. He, however, chooses one because it seems better to him. He then proceeds on this path, telling himself he might one day come back to the other. The reality is the opposite, unfortunately. He never does. The most attractive feature of this poem is the fact that it is relatable to everyone. It represents a conundrum of choice that is present in every stage of an individual s life. The poem is filled with a lot of depth and underlying meaning while at the same time having the right form and composition. The Road Not Taken is constantly misconstrued. Many read it and misinterpret the words and general meaning of the poem. This literary work is about what one does with their life, how hard a decision is, and how important it is in determining success and happiness. The poet acknowledges that the different paths are actually similar, as described in the first line of the second stanza where the author states that they are just as fair (Frost 6), which mirrors real life where people assume the grass is always greener. Frost further alludes to this idea by stating in the first line of the third stanza, both that morning equally lay (Frost 11). He acknowledges that he might never come back again to the first path even though he hopes to. In the fifth line of the fourth stanza, Frost admits that though he might want to come back to the path one day, he knows he never will. He goes on to declare that he shall be saying it with a sigh (Frost 16). Interestingly, he ends the short poem by stating that he took the road less traveled by and it made all the difference (Frost 19 20). Consequently, this conclusion creates confusion in the mind of the reader. Was the road less traveled, or were the two roads the same? It seems that at different points of his life, the author realizes different aspects of the two roads. The Road Not Taken is the title of the poem. At macroscale (external part of the device) the system of Navier Stokes equations for two component gas mixture is solved using nite volume method adopted for low Mach number limit. Dependence of device eciency on all of the dening parameters is studied and comparison with previous numerical simulation of the device is made. The key feature of the device is that it can produce output gas with any purity up to 100% with temperature dier ence of only 30K applied to the sides of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Arts And Arts Education Studies show that students in the arts outperformed their non arts peers on the SAT by 96 points, while a child who has continued access to arts education has a 74 percent higher chance of planning to attend college (Urist 9). The arts teach several lessons to children and they provide an equal opportunity for everyone. The artsalso provide a different form of discipline and insight into the real world. While others may say that sports make kids strive for good grades, the arts support children in a different way. Others may also say funding should go towards core subjects, but what they don t know is that the humanities use the core subjects during classes. Even though fine arts are not exciting for everyone, they should receive more funding in schools because fine arts keep kids out of trouble, provide a way to express oneself and help teenagers make life decisions. Every year fine arts and humanities programs are cut from high schools. The fine arts and humanities programs are the studies of art, literature, dance, music or theater. The fine arts are both extra curricular and everyday subjects. Even though Language Arts are considered a fine art, it is also a regular core subject that is included in the school budget. In New York, the school budget crisis happened in 1970 (Moskowitz 1). According to Eva Moscowitz, For example, Committee members visited P.S. 155, a school in which the makeshift art room was separated from the cafeteria by rows of lockers piled upon ... • 45. The Impact Of U.s. Economy On The Housing Crisis In 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research publicized that the U.S. Economy had entered into a recession. The overall agreement of what was the primary cause of this recession was the credit crisis from the bursting of the housing bubble. This lead the U.S. into the worst recession in over sixty years (Holt). The decade before the 2008 crisis, showed the development of a key factor that would later contribute to the crisis. It was the dramatic increase in aggregate households indebtedness that had become so severe in the United States. This large growth in household indebtedness was a direct result in large by the significant and sustained expansion in residential mortgage lending. With the growth in the residential mortgage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another economist by the name of Thomas Sowell stressed that the government s role in creating the housing bubble. With the housing markets that had the largest home price increases were often markets that the local government had forced land use restrictions on the amount of land available for housing. Having relaxed mortgage lending standards were mainly the result of being government influenced (Russo). During the 2008 recession, the Federal Housing Administration increased its insurance activity to keep money flowing into the market. Without this government agency s backing, it would have been much more challenging for the middle class to get a home loan from the start of the recession (Griffith). A few large financial firms experienced financial stress during the 2008 Recession and in response, the Federal Reserve provided the liquidity and support through a variety of programs motivated to help the functions of financial markets and institutions, and in effect limit the damage done to the U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve had provided record amounts of monetary accommodation in response to the severity of the reduction and the gradual return of the ensuing recovery. Finally, the financial crisis caused major reforms in banking and financial regulation, which included congressional legislation that significantly affected the Federal Reserve. One example is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They will check in to their respective brand, park their vehicle on premise if necessary, find their way onto the guestroom floors, and then utilize the amenities offered to them such as the fitness center, pool, and the pantries located in each lobby. But throughout the hotel there are design pros and cons that will have an impact on the overall experience of both Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests. Whoever enters either lobby of the hotel will always be monitored by the front desk staff Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests have the option to utilize the shared public space available on the second floor this includes the fitness center, the pool, two meeting rooms and a board room. For all aspects of their experience in this hotel, the Hampton Inn and the Homewood Suites guest only expects to interact with their respective brand. This also applies to the shared public space between both brands, so the second floor cannot feel separated to the guest. But the amenities on this floor are arranged well enough so Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites guests have access to every amenity on this floor. The corridor in front of the meeting rooms connects guests to the entire floor and allows them to simultaneously share public space. Cons A guest entering the Hampton Inn from the New York Avenue entrance will reach the front desk area and also come upon the second vestibule entrance from the parking courtyard. Since there is a small area between the vestibule and front desk, this will become a bottleneck for the lobby; guests will be clustered here waiting to check in. This area is also in front of the only path leading to the elevator lobby, so the guests waiting for check in will obstruct other guests who are coming back from the pantry area or from the outside of the hotel and are trying to reach the guestroom ... • 47. Supply Chain Strategy Of A Convenience Store Chain An attempt to be responsive from a convenience store chain should include the supply chain strategy that fit with competitive factors such as high quality, quick response, flexibility, service and innovation. First option can be expanding new stores in areas with existing clusters of stores. This way, the store chain can gain quicker awareness among customers and receive high density market presence. Just like 7 Eleven, after the growth of its stores, the company focuses on increasing the number of original items that were available only at their stores. Company like Zara also has the same strategy, where they products are displayed based on store locations, which makes every store unique and local adaptive. Flexible hours can enhance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Last but not least, the delivery system worked on trust in order to reduce the delivery time spent at each store. Therefore, if there is a mistake in delivery, the store personnel cannot inform the delivery person right away and that might take even more time to fix. (c)Facility Location: To ensure efficiency, 7 Eleven Japan have implemented a market dominate strategy to saturate an area with stores. Based on the strategy, all manufacturing facilities are centralized to improve brand awareness, and also lower the transportation cost by aggregating them and achieve efficiency. Inventory management:7 Eleven Japan offered its stores a choice from a set of 5000 stock keeping units. Each store carried on average about 3000 stock keeping units depending on local customer demand, and the food items were classified in four categories: (1) Chilled temp; (2) Warm temp; (3) Frozen items; (4) Room temp. Transportation:7 Eleven Japan requires all suppliers to deliver to their distribution center, and use their own trucks for replenishment from store to store. It offered three times a day store delivery of all rice dishes, and twice a day delivery of bread and other fresh food. In addition, there were four categories of temperature controlled trucks, and each made deliveries to multiple retail stores. All deliveries were made during off peak hours, and did not require the delivery person to be present when the store personnel scanned in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
