Outdoor Graduation
Do you remember the day you graduated from high school? Do you recall the joy and happiness
you experienced when you stepped up on that stage to receive your diploma? in general, students
look forward to the day they graduate high school. Where the students have their graduation
ceremonies has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost
more than indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in
the end. That is why an outdoor graduationshould be a student s first choice over an indoor
graduation. First off, an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would
allow more people to attend the ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than
500 people, then there would be limited space at an indoor graduation for students and families. At
an outdoor graduation, space is an available resource and more people would be able to attend....

For many years in Gateway, high school students pay class dues throughout their high school
career in order to ultimately afford an outdoor graduation. The money would cover most of the
expenses required to set up for an outdoor ceremony. Some students in Gateway argue that this is
a waste of money because it doesn t matter where we graduate, as long as we receive our
diploma. I think it does matter, because a high school student only graduates once, and graduation
should be a memorable experience. And where would you rather make good memories? Inside,
where you have limited space and where less family members could share the joy with you, or
outside on a beautiful summer day where your whole family could share the joy with

The Pros And Cons Of Global Inequality
Global inequality is the state that the world s circumstances are unequal. Many people around the
world are facing this global issue happening. Throughout history, it is seen that ,all the provinces
in the world, have varying degrees of poverty. For my report, I will be focusing on Nepal (Asia) .
Nepal is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is home to Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the
world, and another 7 mountains which are among the ten tallest mountains. Nepal s capital city is
Katmandu. I will be comparing Nepal to Australia. Australia (Commonwealth of Australia) is an
island country (Oceania). Surrounded by the Pacific and Indian oceans, it is the largest country in
Oceania and 7th largest country in the world. Australia s capital is Canberra but its economical
capital is Sydney. There are many essential aspects of life which include; income, education,
food and water, health and shelter. Income is money received, especially on a regular basis, for
work or through investments. The weekly income of a laborer in Australia is $622.20 ($476.11
USD) whereas a Nepalese laborer would make 2000 NPR ($19.31 USD) . Education is the process
of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. The expected
amount of schooling years in Nepal is 12.2 years. Now, compare that to 20.4 years in Australia. The
average cost of living in Australia is $2835 ($2169.31 USD) while the cost of living in Nepal is

James Madison And The Federal Convention Essay
There are numerous possible conclusions as to what the Constitution may have looked like had
James Madison gotten his way at the debates in the Federal Convention. Initially, Madison s vision
of government lined up with the Virginia Plan presented by Edmund Randolph to the Federal
Convention on May 29th, 1787. This plan stressed the interest of a stronger national government,
with representation in the legislative branch based on the apportionment of people, instead of
states, and subjected state laws to a veto by the national government. Despite the early plan of
government, it is more realistic to assert that Madison s vision for government was pliable, and that
his vision evolved through the convention to appear as it did on September 17, 1787. Considering
Madison s comments in both the Federal Convention along with his subsequent authorship of
certain Federalist Papers, under the pseudonym Publius, it is clear that through the deliberative
process of debate during the convention that James Madisons vision for a national government was
almost wholly reconciled to the final draft. James Madison achieved the majority of his desires for
a new constitution, mainly protection against the encroachment by states on federal power, limiting
the power of those in government by creating separate distinct functions for each branch of
government and finally by securing rights of individuals structurally by extending the republic.
Need for a more energetic government, with an

Band Of Brothers Analysis
Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers, a 2001 mini series of the non fictional historical account of the US Army s
famous 101st Airborne Division, was set during World War II. This show details the combined
experiences of Major Richard Dick Winters and the men of Easy Company 506th Parachute Infantry
Regiment 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The series has a war genre
mostly, however there is drama and bits of comedy. These men who fought was known as the good
war were hardened men, who sacrificed so much, for sometimes too little.
The series also gets the original surviving members into talking about the war and showing their
emotions as they come out especially at certain parts that are too hard for them to tell. The ... Show

Film Music In Film In The 1900 s
Music In Film Have you ever not heard music in a movie? Probably not, since the mid 1900 s
music has been included into films, soon later it made its way out of the silent era. Music is used
in film to better enhance the story of a scene. Through the Golden Age of film music the film
industry had drastic changes take place as though this was later in the 1900 s. Through all the
changes composers and directors have come to believe that music changes how we can view a film.
In 1927 the first movie with sound had been released as making huge improvements in the film
industry that changed everything for Hollywood. Back in 1927 The jazz Singerhad been released

The Commander s Chief Of The Chilean Army
KEY LEADERS
2.1Chile
2.1.1General Manuel Baquedano Gonzalez
The Commander in Chief of the Chilean Army, Gen. Erasmo Escala, resigned his commission due
to constant arguments with War Minister Rafael Sotomayor. The latter appointed General Manuel
Baquedano Gonzalez, a Peru Bolivian Confederacy war veteran, who had the sympathies and
respect of the soldiers as his successor.
Baquedano was only 15 years old and still at school when the War against the Peru Bolivian
Confederacy began, but he left his studies to join the Army. He participated in the decisive Battle of
Yungay in 1839. His actions motivated his promotion to Lieutenanton the field at the age of 16.

This maneuver is regarded as the first amphibious disembarkation in history.
Baquedano s military strategy in this war consisted mainly in frontal attack to break the often over
extended enemy lines.
After the Battle of Tacna, his tactics were publically criticized: he chose to frontally attack with 16
battalions and 3 cavalry regiments, an allied force of nearly 10.000 infantry men equipped with
thirty one cannons and machine guns. The Battle was a victory for Chile, but with overwhelming
losses that could have been avoided if he listened to Minister Vergara s suggestion of choosing an
envelopment maneuver.
He was a man of stubborn and obstinate nature; he tolerated no argument once he had taken a
decision. However, he personally directed battles resulting in decisive victories, and he remained
treated as a hero until he died at the age of 74.
2.1.2Colonel Pedro Lagos
Only an outstanding military mind could be in charge of this assault, so the Commander in Chief
himself gave Colonel Pedro Lagos the responsibility for the operation. Lagos had begun his
training in the Military Academy. During his first years, he proved to be a hard worker and a very
good student. One of his superiors proposed that he would be promoted to second lieutenant,
leading to the start of his military career in November 1850.

Have you ever been so impressed by someone when they do something amazing? In The Marble

hard work, she wins a marbles tournament. I think Lupe is a role model. Three reasons of this are
she is intelligent, she is a good sport, and she is hardworking. Lupe is a role model. One reason
why Lupe is a role model is that she is intelligent. For example, she has a lot of awards for her
intelligence. This shows she is intelligent because it shows she has awards for intelligence.

Mandala Religion Essay
The beliefs and symbols illustrated in my mandala are positioned in a way that they connect to
each other. The first Hindu belief is Brahman. I put the symbol of Brahman on the bottom of the
mandala to show that it controls and connects to the other four beliefs. Next, the belief of multiple
gods will be placed on the right side of Brahman because he is one of the many gods that the
Hindus believe in. On the other side of Brahman will be Dharma because they both have to do with
balancing society and the universe. On top of Dharma will be Karma. I will put it in this position
because Dharma affects your Karma. If you follow rules then your Karma will be good, and if
you don t follow the rules then your Karma won t be as good. Lastly, Samsara will be placed
next to Karma and Dharma. Samsara would be placed next to these beliefs because your Karma
is what you will receive or be like in your next life. Dharma connects to Samsara because the
release called Moksha will be achieved if you follow certain spiritual and ritual practices to have a
good relation and personal experience with Gods. There are many other ways that all these beliefs
connect to each other, but the ways I just talked about relate to the illustrations I have drawn on the
mandala.

theme in the passage Learning to Skate and Brown Onions. In addition, there are similarities and

In Learning to Skate, Her mom forced her to go. In Brown Onions, her dad made a bet with her
to try the onions. In the first text, Learning to Skate, the way she tried skating was her mom
forced her to do it. I know this because the text states, This is the last weekend the rink is open,
her mother said. I m going out of town for work. And you re going skating with your father, (par.
20). This shows that the events in the story are influenced by the characters and in this story
Linda s mom forces her to skate. In Brown Onions, the text states, I ll make you a deal. You try a
cheeseburger with these onions on it, and if they are as bad as you say they are, I ll eat anything
you want, (par. 18). Furthermore, Deal. Call me when they re done, (par. 23). This proves that in,
Brown Onions, her dad makes a bet with her instead of forcing her to try new things. In the end, in
these texts, Learning to Skate and Brown Onions, share a common theme. The plot in each story is

The Biological Impact Of Grief And The Personality
Introduction Loss of a significant other, especially a spouse, is considered one of life s most
stressful events. While it may be difficult, bereavement is an event that all people experience at
some point in their lives. The time frame in which the loss occurs and how the individual reacts
to it has been the subject of many research studies. Researchers have investigated if people grieve
differently because of biological reasons or do their personality traits dictate how the loss is
mourned. I will explore the biological impact of griefand the personality aspects in grieving. Grief
is the act following the loss of a loved one. While grief and bereavement are normal occurrences,
the grief process is a social construct of how someone should behave. The acceptable ways that
people grieve change because of this construct. For a time it was not acceptable to grieve; today,
however, it is seen as a necessary way to move on from death (Scheid, 2011).The grief process
has been described as a multistage event, with each stage lasting for a suggested amount of time to
be considered normal and reach resolution. The beginning stage of grief is the immediate shock,
disbelief, and denial lasting from hours to weeks (Wambach, 1985). The middle stage is the acute
mourning phase that can include somatic and emotional turmoil. This stage includes
acknowledging the event and processing it on various levels, both mentally and physically. The
final stage is a period of

He claims that this power, or monopolization has caused the NCAA to threaten Penn State with the
suspension of their football team altogether, which then lead to Penn State agreeing to the
violations and accepting the drastic but less painful sanctions (citation) in order to hold onto some
of their reputation.
The costs that are associated with this specific case are mainly targeted to the amount that Penn
State s football program generates annually. It has been claimed that Penn State impacts about
161.5 million statewide not to mention the $90million economic impact in Centre County alone
(Miller, 2013). James D. Schultz, Corbett s general counsel also stated that more than 2,000 jobs
were also supported by this program; this alone is why the antitrust claim was investigated, due to
the affect on Pennsylvania s economy and on the citizens as a whole.
Monopolies Bad for Society?
After the proper amount of research, having monopolies and oligopolies are not always bad for
our society. Sometimes they can provide the stability that our government and economy needs in
order to create a low enough cost for production and overall beneficial. For example, most utilities
are considered to be a positive monopoly. Electric and gas companies in particular are beneficial in
having the government regulate the prices so that each individual would not have to be in charge
of having their own generators or source of electricity that would

The Native American Church is a continuation of the ancient Peyote Religion combined with some
teachings of traditional Christianity. Native American Church practices centre around the religious
use of peyote, a small cactus which when eaten gives people a feeling of hallucinations. Indians
use peyote in religious ceremonies only. Peyote induces abnormal mental states or hallucinations
when chewed; giving the user a sense of direct contact with God. It is eaten or consumed as a tea
in religious rituals. Like tobacco, peyote is a sacred herb to many Indian tribes and they use it for
prayer not recreation.
The use of peyote is central to the Native American peyote religion. In Peyote Religion most
formal ceremonies mix drumming, singing, prayer, and stories as a means of offering thanks and
as a way of sharing this blessing with the Creator. Deeply meaningful and highly personalized
inspirational revelation is often a very important part of the individual s experience. Participants in
such peyote meetings often grow in empathy and in friendship with the people who have shared the
peyote night with them. Lifelong associations are made in this way.
Church peyote users believe that peyote is a sacred and powerful plant. Peyote is seen as a
medicine, a protector, and a teacher. In terms used by other religions, peyote can be called a
sacrament, something which when eaten gives awareness of God.

The Road Not Taken
Many writers use symbolism to help reveal things or say something important about life in a
special way In the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, the author uses a variety of
phrases that contains symbolism. All of this symbolism also leads up to a very common theme
that we must usually several times in our lives. First of all, this poem uses a lot of symbolism to
reveal many things that also applies to us in our lives. To begin with, Robert Frostdescribes two (2)
similar roads. One thing he says to support his is, both that morning equally lay/ (/=new line) in

Though, at first, he tries to make himself feel comfortable being able to take both roads by
saying Oh, I kept the first for another day. However, he soon realizes that he will not be able to

that if we take one path, it will lead to many other different things, and it would be very difficult
to go back to the beginning. For example, if one chooses to specialize in learning science, this
will lead up to getting a career that is based upon science. And, at the end, if he would not want
that career, it would become difficult in getting a career in a totally different subject area like
trying to become a English Language Arts Teacher for middle schoolers. This goes on to his idea
of symbolizing this by saying I doubted I should ever come

O Brien most likely wrote parts of the story in third person because it is traditional and benefits the
reader by allowing them to get to know multiple characters rather than just the narrator. The Things

Pros And Cons Of A Flat Tax System
The modern concept of a flat tax was popularized by Stephen Forbes in his 1996 presidential
campaign when he proposed a universal income tax rate of 17 percent. Republicans have been
advocating for a flat tax plan ever since and the latest crop of presidential hopefuls eclipsed by
Donald Trump, proposed similar plans. Ted Cruz was talking about a flat 10 percent while Bush,
Huckabee, Carson, Rubio and Rand Paul all had similar ideas. The 2016 Republican nominee,
Donald Trump, also advocates for a reduction in taxbrackets closely resembling a flat tax rate,
since he is a reported billionaire. (Shlaes, 2015) The current tax system employs a progressive
tax rate, which means the percentage of income taxed rises with the amount earned. Currently,
earners who made up to $8,375 paid ten percent while those who made more than $373,650 paid
the top rate of 35 percent. Under the progressive tax system, a taxpayer pays a base rate on the
first dollar earned and rates rise as earnings rise so that making more money means moving into a
higher tax bracket. In a flat tax system, top earners pay more in dollars but pay at the same
percentage rate. (Shlaes, 2015)
History:
There have been two instances of a flat tax being levied in the United States, both times utilized to
respond to a major crisis. Both times, the flat tax revenue was never actualized. The first time was
in 1861 at the onset of the Civil War and the Lincoln Administration s need to finance the war effort.

Analysis Of Hester Street By Joan Micklin Silver
As John F. Kennedy famously stated, the United States of America exists as a nation of immigrants.
Besides those from Native American descent, every occupant of America can attribute their lineage
to ancestors who emigrated from another country and adopted America as their new home. Coming
to a new nation brings with it a series of difficulties, one of which is the struggle to find balance
between assimilationand the preservation of one s ethnic identity. Such a struggle is very present in
the romantic film Hester Street, directed by Joan Micklin Silver, detailing the lives of Jake and
Gitl, two Jewish immigrants living in New York during the early 20th century. Jake and Gitl each
maintain different attitudes toward assimilation, yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester Street does a good job of portraying this pressure, demonstrating its effects on specific
characters. After Gitl and Joey s arrival in New York, Jake takes the two, along with Bernstein to
a park outside the city. Pacing around while the other three sit under a tree, Jake exclaims: look
what a place is America, nu, Bernstein? (1:03:00) praising the scenic beauty of the little park, with
its bright sun, towering trees, and luscious grass. His acclaim of his surroundings represents his
sense of pride for the land around him, desiring to tout America to Bernstein, who less identifies
with American culture. Jake represents a very assimilated immigrant, further demonstrated in this
scene by his appearance. Walking around the three, Jake sports a striped, collared shirt and polka
dot tie underneath a snazzy pinstripe vest, as well as well fitted pants, and leather, lace up boots.
Also, besides his mustache, he is clean shaven and wears neat, slicked down hair. Jake s outfit and
hairstyle correspond with the average appearance of an American man of this time, representing his
embrace of American culture. As the shot switches between him, and Bernstein and Gitl, the stark
contrast in their appearances is accentuated, juxtaposing Jake s Americanized garb to the traditional
outfits of their native country of Russia. Bernstein s all black, 3 piece, wool suit, large

Faust was once idealistic, but now disillusioned and bitter with despair. He foresakes God and
makes a perilous deal with the Devil in which he commits his soul to eternal damnation in return for
power and knowledgein this life (The legend of Faustfrom the Renaissance times, 2016). Faust has
studied for years without pleasing progress and loses his faith in his idealism. In his frustration,
Faust becomes a black magic sorcerer and beckons the Devil. The demon he summons is named
Mephistopheles. Together they make a pact in which the devil offers to serve Faust for a period of
time, in return for his soul and damnation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

United States Should Increase The Visa Cap
The H 1B visa, originally created to streamline admissions of temporary foreign workers to the
United States, has become a topic of much debate between the foes of immigration and the
information technology (IT) industry. The debate is focused on whether to increase the visa cap in
order to alleviate what the industry describes as a shortage of IT labor. This argument, however,
obscures the fundamental flaw of the H 1B program that deserves a more prudent examination. The
current H 1B visaprogram is plagued with inefficiencies that privilege the IT industry at the
expense of both visa holders and domestic IT workers alike. The H 1B program needs a complete
overhaul, and should include a mechanism to ensure that both employers and employees abide
by free market forces. Increasing the current visa cap will only amplify current inefficiencies of
the H 1B visa program. Alternatively, allowing visa holders the ability to access a greater range of
employment opportunities increases the holder s incentive to make economic contributions. The
industry s ability to hire globally must be balance by workers rights to seek out more competitive
opportunities. Current mobility restrictions of the H 1B program are preventing valuable workers
from seeking the most valuable opportunities, ultimately leading to a misallocation of foreign
labor. H 1B visa reform that includes a role for labor mobility will not only introduce market forces
into the bigoted program, but will also help ensure

If Mr. Van Daan wasn t in the community at all, the Franks probably would ve had a better

First, despite the hospitality the Franks show for the Van Daans, Mr Van Daan still betrays their

Power Circuits Of Electric Power
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Research Background
Power electronics circuits convert electric power from one form to other using electronic devices.
By using semiconductor devices as switches power electronics circuits function, thereby controlling
or modifying a voltage or current. Power electronics application range from high power conversion
equipment such as dc power transmission to everyday appliances, such as cell phone chargers,
cordless screwdrivers, power supplies for computers, and hybrid automobiles. Power electronics
includes applications in which circuits process miliwatts or megawatts. Power electronics include
conversion of an unregulated dc voltage to a regulated dc voltage conversion of ac to dc,
conversion of dc to ac, and conversion of an ac power source from one amplitude and frequency to
another amplitude and frequency. These power converters are classified as rectifiers, AC voltage
controllers, DC choppers and inverters, which covers wide area of residential, commercial and
industrial applications, including computers, transportation and power utilizes [1].
Power electronic converters, especially DC/AC inverters have been extending their range of use in
industrial application because they provide better system efficiency, reduced energy consumption
and improved quality of power. The output voltage of inverter could be fixed or variable at a fixed
or variable frequency and output waveforms are therefore made up of discrete values, producing
fast transition

Full Range Leadership Development (FRLD)
What I have found most valuable from model three is the Full Range Leadership Development

leadership behaviors that stick out to me. One is a contingent reward; I like to reward my
subordinates and peers with time off or a barbeque when they exceed the standards or goals that I

Langston Hughes, Prolific Writer Of Black Pride During...
During a time where racism was at its height in America, Jim Crow laws separated blacks from
mainstream white society. Where the notion of separate but equal was widely accepted in
America, blacks were faced with adversity that they had to overcome in a race intolerant society.
They were forced to face a system that compromised their freedom and rights. Blacks knew that
equal was never equal and separate was definitely separate (George 8 9). Blacks had to fight for
their rights because it wasn t handed to them. Racism manifested itself on many levels and had to
be fought on many levels. This gave rise to influential black leaders in the fight for civil rights.

Kennewick Man or The Ancient Man is the name given to the skeletal remains of a man found in
Kennewick, Washington on July 28,1996. A pair of bystanders accidentally found the skeleton
remains of the Kennewick Man. With the discovery it has brought up many disagreements about
what to do with the Kennewick man. The question now is who is really responsible for the remains
of the Kennewick Man.
The remains of the Kennewick man are one of the oldest and complete remains ever found. The
estimated 9,000 year old skeleton is described as Caucasoid. After the discovery it was described as
one of the most complete male skeletons ever unearthed in America. The Kennewick Man remains
were the subject of a court battle between researchers who want to learn all they can about The

to individuals with incarceration histories or convictions on their records. The Corporation for
Supportive Housing estimates that 10 to 12 percent of former inmates are homeless. Other studies
put the count at between 15 and 27 percent (Law). With such a large percentage of inmates being

Bog Bodies
This book informs the reader about bog bodies and how crucial they are to scientists because
they re a journey to the past. Bog bodies are bodies that were deposited in a bog shortly after
death, they were then naturally preserved in the bog. To clarify why they re so important, bog
bodies are usually so well preserved that their skin, intestines and other parts of their body remain.
Scientists study them and they are able to find when they died, using radiocarbon analysis, and
how they died which is only possible it s not a skeleton because certain wounds can only be seen
on skin and not on bones. There was a section in that text that impacted me, it was: With new tests

Scientists look at only a few apparatus to discover additional information about the past, they
analyze fossils, artifacts, preserved bodies, and ancient architecture. With bog bodies gone, that
leaves a miniscule amount of items to study. Artifacts or items belonging to ancient people don t
provide tremendous amounts of information. Additionally, fossils belong to a whole other category,
animals and plants from prehistoric times. Consequently, this doesn t provide information about
primitive culture and don t assist scientists seeking data on primeval civilization. Furthermore, bog
bodies are probably the most complex sources of enlightenment because they can provide clothing,
weapons, and materials of specific eras, as well as informing us about their actions. For instance,
of scientists suspected the person was sacrificed we can conclude that whatever civilization they
were from practiced human sacrifice. In all honesty, bog bodies would be a grand loss because
they re far more intriguing than other artifacts. Considering this, bog bodies supply insight about

Funny in Farsi Analysis
The focus of this paper is an analysis of the book Funny in Farsi by Firoozeh Dumas using
concepts from the Lives Across Cultures textbook. Ten concepts are identified and defined from
Chapter readings. Following definitions, examples from the novel of these concepts are shown.
Ethnocentrism is defined as the tendency to judge other people and cultures by the standards of one
s own culture and to believe that the behavior, customs, norms, values and other characteristics of
one s own group are natural, valid, and correct while those of other s are unnatural, invalid and
incorrect. For example, in Funny in Farsi Firoozeh experiences ethnocentrism from citizens here ...

She speaks of being invited to many households for sleepovers as an individual with an unfamiliar
but intriguing culture. Formal learning is set apart from the context of everyday life and is
typically carried out in the institution we know as school and is characterized by an explicit and
highly structured curriculum. Firoozeh is enrolled in American schools and is formally taught.
Later in life she attends Berkeley and funds her learning mostly through scholarship applications.
Informal learning is not characterized by a defined curriculum and is generally picked up by
means of observation and imitation. The responsibility of the learning usually falls on the learner
and is generally picked up from extended family members. Firoozeh focuses on her father in her
novel and ideas gleaned from his character. Her father being an engineer is methodical with his
decisions, sometimes cheap as described by his shopping experiences, but often with good advice.
In collectivist cultures, emphasis is on group success and individual ambitions are generally set
aside for the attainment of group goals. Firoozeh s Iranian culture is principle collectivistic. She
shows examples of this quality through the closeness of her family such as shared meals by her
aunt, financial support between family members, an uncle that cohabitates with her family, and
encouragement of cousins toward success. Fluid intelligence involves the ability to form concepts,

development of her novel. Sethe, Denver, and Beloved, all main characters in this book, represent
many of the large issues. One of the major themes in the novel is portrayed with the falling of

Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases
Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and
Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been
steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for
misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is
known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self
assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the
toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets
whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic
conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to
increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding
diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be
prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular
mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we
highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but
we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic
assembly of biological structures.

Unit Three: Lab Questions
1. What is the crime that the video focuses on?
The kidnapping and death of Charles Lindbergh Jr. The son of Charles Lindbergh was abducted
from his family home in 1932.
2.What evidence did investigators have about the crime in the 1930s?
That whoever kidnapped the baby used a ladder leaned up against the right side of the baby s
unlocked window. Also that they silence the baby because the parents did not hear any sign of
struggle from the room. Also that the criminals left the ladder next to a service road and used a
car to get away. They also left a ransom note on the babys window demanding 50,000 dollars for

Bruno. Plus the person that was given the ransom money was named John. The last thing is the
man who received the ransom money described the man and he looked just like John Knoll, and he
had an abnormality on his hand which John Knoll did too.
7. What evidence exists to suggest that Charles Lindbergh himself was involved in the kidnapping
and death of his son? Do you agree or disagree with this theory? Why?
Well for the kidnappers to know that the Lindberghs were at the house they had to have inside
source. Lindbergh did not trust the police, used his influence to control the police, and kept all
the ransom notes. Also Lindbergh was said to think that his son was not going to be healthy and
big like most men. His feelings of having an imperfect child could have caused him to be
involved. Yes i do agree with this theory because men tend to be like that. They let what other
people think get to them. A man like that who everyone thinks is perfect having an imperfect child
is a bad thing to him. He probably wanted to keep that position of people thinking he is perfect and
his family is too.
8. What evidence exists to suggest that Charles Lindbergh himself was involved in the kidnapping

burden and loss. This burden, pain, misery and loss eventually leads her to insanity! These
events in her life showed me the effect that war can have on people s lives; the pain, loss and
burden they have to bear. This made sympathise with the victims of war and helped understand

The History of the Piano Essay
The piano, created by Bartolomeo Christofori in 1709, has impacted our society by becoming a
popular instrument and a popular medium for musicians to create musical masterpieces. Also
called the pianoforte, the piano is one of the most beautiful sounding instruments that can range in
sound from as low as a gust of wind, to as high as the shrill sound of a bird. It has evolved over
time and become an amazing instrument. The pianowas accepted very well in history and it has
generated many changes in the music industry. The piano was also used a lot in society and has
had many applications grow from it. Without it, many classical masterpieces as well as modern
songs wouldn t have been possible. There were many instruments that led to the... Show more

They weren t added to keyboards until the thirteenth century. Another instrument that was a prelude
to the piano was the pantaleon. It was created by Hebenstreit, a famous dulcimer player. It had 180
strings, was 9 feet long, had an extra soundboard, and had double faced hammers. It was extremely
hard to master. It was short lived, but was an important influence for the pianoforte. It also created
an important link between keyed and non keyed string instruments (Crombie 5 7).
In the fifteenth century, a keyed polychord was made called the clavichord. It was the first
keyboard in which the harder a note was struck, the louder a note would ring. It was fairly cheap
and it was very popular in central Europe, especially in Germany. Although people liked it, it was
not very loud. Since this was the case, the harpsichord was created. It was a much larger
clavichord creating a louder sound (Crombie 7 9). At last, the pianoforte was born. The pianoforte
means soft and loud. The name describes the sound of the instrument. It can be soft piano or loud
forte depending on how hard you hit the keys. Bartolomeo Cristofori created it in 1709. When he
became angry and was playing the harpsichord harder, he realized that the instrument didn t respond
and become louder. Since he wanted something that could do this, he invented the pianoforte, which
is now just

Analysis Of The Movie The Dark Knight
What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie
theater? A scientist has his face deep cleaned in a bell jar of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of
his beauticians (Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of
Gotham (The Dark Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation
after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent s crimes, caped crusader
feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope
with the villain s (who knows the caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark
Knight Rises). This raises the question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a
successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of
revenue the movie brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story
line of the movie. But in order to form a valid opinion on whether or not a villain is needed in a
movie to be considered successful, first we must discuss the history of movies that included
villains, iconic movie villains and the success of their movies, and finally, the importance of the
villain in cinema. Literature Review/Background America s collective unconscious has always
been reflected and amplified by the portrayal of Hollywood villains. If one wanted to understand
the big picture broad strokes of America, there is no better

The Importance Of Intelligent Design
Many students if you ask them what intelligent design is the most likely answer will be they do
not know. That is why intelligent design should be taught in schools. If we have to take science
classes then we should have choice to learn about the meaning in intelligent design. Looking at a
different point of view so we can chose in what to believe in. Intelligent designshould be considered
as a curriculum. Intelligent design does not necessarily have to involve religion. It just means that
an intelligent person created things. Therefore, ID should be taught in schools so the student can
have another aspect and not just learn about evolution, so the students can have freedom of speech,
and the students will develop critical thinking skills. By having another aspect to think about can
make a student see other theories as well. Evolution should not be the only thing getting credit
for the way life is. Intelligent design can also explain the existence of how things are created if
we actually think about it. I personally do not agree with the teaching of evolution to students. For
example, I do not believe that we evolved from apes or monkeys. If that was the case, why is there
still apes in the world if they evolved into human. If we actually think about it evolution was
mentioned from a man s theory. Why not believe what the bible says too just because we know a
man was the one who wrote the bible does not mean it is not true. Because evolution was also
written by man how do

Verse 11 Essay
Verse 11 talks about to put on the armor of God. This armor is not literal armor that an individual
can put on since characterizes such as truth and righteousness are not clothing items. Instead, the
word armor should be taken as referring to figurative articles of protection that an individual
should take upon themselves. The verse begins with the command to put on . It is not phrased in a
question but is a commandment for those who follow Christ. Thus, we are to put on all the armor
not just the parts that we see fit to as indicated by the wordwhole . After all it is dangerous to only
put a helmet but to go into battle without a shield.
But what is the purpose of putting on the armor of God? Well, the second half of verse 2 tells us
that it is so that we might be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. The term that in this
verse gives a reason for us to put on the armor and that reason is so that we would be able to stand.
But what does that mean? The phrase you may be able indicates that that our need to put on ... Show

Take up gives us a command; it is not supposed to be an option for us to not put on the armor of
God. But what are we to take up? This question is answered in the next five words, which state,
The whole armor of God . This means that we are to take up the full armor of God instead of just
parts of it. But spiritual battles cannot be fought with man made armor so this armor is made by
a spiritual God as indicated by the words of God . It is necessary that God make the armor
because our physical armor is incapable of doing anything against the attacks of the spiritual
realm. Furthermore, we cannot even create the armor that is needed to defend ourselves on our
own. So our armor needs to be created by a spiritual being in order for us to be able to fight and

Theatre Personal Statement
I am an ideal candidate to study theatre because of my passion for it. This passion drives me to
volunteer as much time as possible to the arts ensuring I can learn as much as possible. I love the
impact a piece of theatre has on the audience and when working in theatre you have the
opportunity to experience first hand the emotion you evoke in people. I want the opportunity to
create something real in people, whether it is through character or a piece I have created myself.
Although I have a particular interest in acting and directing, I also want to learn everything I
possibly can about all aspects of the theatre.

Why Did Saigo Takamori Become A Hero
2421212 Why Did Saigo Takamori Become A Popular Hero? In 2003, the epic war film The Last
Samurai starring Tom Cruise burst on the scene and was well received with a total worldwide
box office of $456 million, and depicted the tragic finale of samurai class under the Meiji
government. The main character, Katsumoto, was loosely based on Saigo Takamori, who
launched a rebellion against the Meiji government that he had strived to establish. Despite being
declared as a traitor after the rebellion, Saigo was celebrated as a legendary hero by common
people. They revered Saigo as a virtuous man, romanticized him as a tragic hero, and idealized
him as the embodiment of samurai spirits. Saigo was celebrated as a virtuous man who lived a
frugal life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before his resignation, Saigo exercised supreme military power: in 1872 he became
Commander in Chief of all the armed forces and in 1873 was appointed unique rank of Field
Marshal. Yet after the summit of fame and power, his army was crushed by the commoner
conscripts they despised, Saigo let his servant severe his head in the final battle, and his failure
became a celebration of the new Japan and the demise of samurai class. For common people, the
fleeting fortune of Saigo the Great from hero to traitor provoked strong sympathy. The sorrow of
fleeting fortune had a long history in Japan. In the Tales of The Heike, the author lamented upon
the unpredictable fortune of the young emperor, as long life is the name they give to the imperial
palace, signaling that one should reside there for years unending. Yet before he had reached the
age of ten, this ruler ended as refuse on the ocean floor. The traditional sentiments for fleeting
fortune was strengthened by the dramatic contrast between the revered Commander in Chief to a
traitor who died in the battlefield against the government Saigo himself helped to establish. Thus
Saigo was romanticized as a martyr for his principles who knew he would never win and a tragic
hero who suffered from fleeting

The smell of the salt water hangs in the air on a crisp autumn day in the year 1585, as the sounds
of waves crashing against the ships on the coast can be heard off in the distant. Sir Walter Raleighs
explorers Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe steps foot on the sand of the beach of what is now
common day Virginia, and breaths in the air of what is the New World. Roanoke was an island
off the coast of, what today is called, Dare County, North Carolina. The island was established by
Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1585. On July 4th of 1584, Amadas and Barlowe stepped foot on the grounds
of what would be called Roanoke Island. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his time there, Grenville helped build relations with the people there, as well, build a

Grenville decided to leave and sail onward. After sailing onward, Grenville s ship reached the
outer coast of the Carolina s. It was there that he would met up with the other 4 ships, and
together, would all explore this new area. They built a village, and after some time, Grenville
decided to return to England for more food and supplies, but he left behind a few people to
maintain the village that were built. He promised to return shortly with more food and supplies,
however, after several years, with no sign of Grenville, the villagers were ready to leave the
New World. It was during this time that Sir Francis Drake stopped by the village on his return
trip from a successful raid in the Caribbean, he offered to take the villagers back to England with
him. All accepted and soon they all left for England, with tobacco, maize, and potatoes that the
villagers brought with them from the Native Americans that they encountered there. However,
Grenville would return, but only to find that the colony was abandoned. After seeing this,
Grenville decided to return to England with most of his crew, only leaving behind a few people to

The Pros And Cons Of The Sandwich Generation
In many families in our society today, the parents are a part of the sandwich generation and now
are raising kids that are growing up to take part in the boomerang generation. The sandwich
generation makes up of people who are in their thirties or forties that are trying to raise their own
children while looking after their elderly parents. On the other hand, the boomerang generation
consists of young adults who graduate high school and college to only come back and live with
their parent and rely on their support. As a result of this, there comes many challenges for both the
parents and the child since the sandwich generation is stuck in the conflicting nature of taking care
of their elderly parents while providing for their children by meeting their needs of emotional love
and providing tangible needs. However, many realize that their kids are entering into adulthood and
now these parents face the challenge of pushing their children to be independent and take on
responsibility while trying to secure a stable retirement. Not only that, but many parents are
postponing their retirement because they are helping their young adult children with their debts,
studies or their housing. This can be very costly for the parents since they oftentimes have to worry
about their own future and the costly expenses that come with retirement, and to provide for their
kids who are currently relying on their support. This situation is even worse if the parents are a part
of the sandwich

Chinese Medicine Vs Greek Medicine Essay
Similarities and Differences between Greek and Chinese Medicine When one compares Greek
medical philosophy to Chinese medical philosophy there will be distinct similarities and differences
that stand out. These similarities and differences become apparent when comparing natural and
supernatural beliefs, as well as when researching the functions and physiology of the body itself.
Another fascinating point, both Greek and Chinese medical philosophybelieved in magic and used it
when practicing medicine. Both philosophies believed in the idea of dramatic wind change in

These phenomena arose from the relationships of metal, wood, fire, water, and soil. Thusly, water

  • 2. Outdoor Graduation Do you remember the day you graduated from high school? Do you recall the joy and happiness you experienced when you stepped up on that stage to receive your diploma? in general, students look forward to the day they graduate high school. Where the students have their graduation ceremonies has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost more than indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in the end. That is why an outdoor graduationshould be a student s first choice over an indoor graduation. First off, an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would allow more people to attend the ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than 500 people, then there would be limited space at an indoor graduation for students and families. At an outdoor graduation, space is an available resource and more people would be able to attend.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For many years in Gateway, high school students pay class dues throughout their high school career in order to ultimately afford an outdoor graduation. The money would cover most of the expenses required to set up for an outdoor ceremony. Some students in Gateway argue that this is a waste of money because it doesn t matter where we graduate, as long as we receive our diploma. I think it does matter, because a high school student only graduates once, and graduation should be a memorable experience. And where would you rather make good memories? Inside, where you have limited space and where less family members could share the joy with you, or outside on a beautiful summer day where your whole family could share the joy with ... • 5. James Madison And The Federal Convention Essay There are numerous possible conclusions as to what the Constitution may have looked like had James Madison gotten his way at the debates in the Federal Convention. Initially, Madison s vision of government lined up with the Virginia Plan presented by Edmund Randolph to the Federal Convention on May 29th, 1787. This plan stressed the interest of a stronger national government, with representation in the legislative branch based on the apportionment of people, instead of states, and subjected state laws to a veto by the national government. Despite the early plan of government, it is more realistic to assert that Madison s vision for government was pliable, and that his vision evolved through the convention to appear as it did on September 17, 1787. Considering Madison s comments in both the Federal Convention along with his subsequent authorship of certain Federalist Papers, under the pseudonym Publius, it is clear that through the deliberative process of debate during the convention that James Madisons vision for a national government was almost wholly reconciled to the final draft. James Madison achieved the majority of his desires for a new constitution, mainly protection against the encroachment by states on federal power, limiting the power of those in government by creating separate distinct functions for each branch of government and finally by securing rights of individuals structurally by extending the republic. Need for a more energetic government, with an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Erasmo Escala, resigned his commission due to constant arguments with War Minister Rafael Sotomayor. The latter appointed General Manuel Baquedano Gonzalez, a Peru Bolivian Confederacy war veteran, who had the sympathies and respect of the soldiers as his successor. Baquedano was only 15 years old and still at school when the War against the Peru Bolivian Confederacy began, but he left his studies to join the Army. He participated in the decisive Battle of Yungay in 1839. His actions motivated his promotion to Lieutenanton the field at the age of 16. Baquedano s military strategy in this war consisted mainly in frontal attack to break the often over extended enemy lines. After the Battle of Tacna, his tactics were publically criticized: he chose to frontally attack with 16 battalions and 3 cavalry regiments, an allied force of nearly 10.000 infantry men equipped with thirty one cannons and machine guns. The Battle was a victory for Chile, but with overwhelming losses that could have been avoided if he listened to Minister Vergara s suggestion of choosing an envelopment maneuver. He was a man of stubborn and obstinate nature; he tolerated no argument once he had taken a decision. However, he personally directed battles resulting in decisive victories, and he remained treated as a hero until he died at the age of 74. 2.1.2Colonel Pedro Lagos Only an outstanding military mind could be in charge of this assault, so the Commander in Chief himself gave Colonel Pedro Lagos the responsibility for the operation. One of his superiors proposed that he would be promoted to second lieutenant, leading to the start of his military career in November 1850. I put the symbol of Brahman on the bottom of the mandala to show that it controls and connects to the other four beliefs. Next, the belief of multiple gods will be placed on the right side of Brahman because he is one of the many gods that the Hindus believe in. On the other side of Brahman will be Dharma because they both have to do with balancing society and the universe. On top of Dharma will be Karma. I will put it in this position because Dharma affects your Karma. If you follow rules then your Karma will be good, and if you don t follow the rules then your Karma won t be as good. Lastly, Samsara will be placed next to Karma and Dharma. Samsara would be placed next to these beliefs because your Karma is what you will receive or be like in your next life. Dharma connects to Samsara because the release called Moksha will be achieved if you follow certain spiritual and ritual practices to have a good relation and personal experience with Gods. There are many other ways that all these beliefs connect to each other, but the ways I just talked about relate to the illustrations I have drawn on the mandala. • 14. The Biological Impact Of Grief And The Personality Introduction Loss of a significant other, especially a spouse, is considered one of life s most stressful events. While it may be difficult, bereavement is an event that all people experience at some point in their lives. The time frame in which the loss occurs and how the individual reacts to it has been the subject of many research studies. Researchers have investigated if people grieve differently because of biological reasons or do their personality traits dictate how the loss is mourned. I will explore the biological impact of griefand the personality aspects in grieving. Grief is the act following the loss of a loved one. While grief and bereavement are normal occurrences, the grief process is a social construct of how someone should behave. The acceptable ways that people grieve change because of this construct. For a time it was not acceptable to grieve; today, however, it is seen as a necessary way to move on from death (Scheid, 2011).The grief process has been described as a multistage event, with each stage lasting for a suggested amount of time to be considered normal and reach resolution. The beginning stage of grief is the immediate shock, disbelief, and denial lasting from hours to weeks (Wambach, 1985). The middle stage is the acute mourning phase that can include somatic and emotional turmoil. This stage includes acknowledging the event and processing it on various levels, both mentally and physically. The final stage is a period of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Pros And Cons Of A Flat Tax System The modern concept of a flat tax was popularized by Stephen Forbes in his 1996 presidential campaign when he proposed a universal income tax rate of 17 percent. Republicans have been advocating for a flat tax plan ever since and the latest crop of presidential hopefuls eclipsed by Donald Trump, proposed similar plans. Ted Cruz was talking about a flat 10 percent while Bush, Huckabee, Carson, Rubio and Rand Paul all had similar ideas. The 2016 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, also advocates for a reduction in taxbrackets closely resembling a flat tax rate, since he is a reported billionaire. (Shlaes, 2015) The current tax system employs a progressive tax rate, which means the percentage of income taxed rises with the amount earned. Currently, earners who made up to $8,375 paid ten percent while those who made more than $373,650 paid the top rate of 35 percent. Under the progressive tax system, a taxpayer pays a base rate on the first dollar earned and rates rise as earnings rise so that making more money means moving into a higher tax bracket. In a flat tax system, top earners pay more in dollars but pay at the same percentage rate. (Shlaes, 2015) History: There have been two instances of a flat tax being levied in the United States, both times utilized to respond to a major crisis. Both times, the flat tax revenue was never actualized. The first time was in 1861 at the onset of the Civil War and the Lincoln Administration s need to finance the war effort. Until then, ... United States Should Increase The Visa Cap The H 1B visa, originally created to streamline admissions of temporary foreign workers to the United States, has become a topic of much debate between the foes of immigration and the information technology (IT) industry. The debate is focused on whether to increase the visa cap in order to alleviate what the industry describes as a shortage of IT labor. This argument, however, obscures the fundamental flaw of the H 1B program that deserves a more prudent examination. The current H 1B visaprogram is plagued with inefficiencies that privilege the IT industry at the expense of both visa holders and domestic IT workers alike. The H 1B program needs a complete overhaul, and should include a mechanism to ensure that both employers and employees abide by free market forces. Increasing the current visa cap will only amplify current inefficiencies of the H 1B visa program. Alternatively, allowing visa holders the ability to access a greater range of employment opportunities increases the holder s incentive to make economic contributions. The industry s ability to hire globally must be balance by workers rights to seek out more competitive opportunities. Current mobility restrictions of the H 1B program are preventing valuable workers from seeking the most valuable opportunities, ultimately leading to a misallocation of foreign labor. By using semiconductor devices as switches power electronics circuits function, thereby controlling or modifying a voltage or current. Power electronics application range from high power conversion equipment such as dc power transmission to everyday appliances, such as cell phone chargers, cordless screwdrivers, power supplies for computers, and hybrid automobiles. Power electronics includes applications in which circuits process miliwatts or megawatts. Power electronics include conversion of an unregulated dc voltage to a regulated dc voltage conversion of ac to dc, conversion of dc to ac, and conversion of an ac power source from one amplitude and frequency to another amplitude and frequency. These power converters are classified as rectifiers, AC voltage controllers, DC choppers and inverters, which covers wide area of residential, commercial and industrial applications, including computers, transportation and power utilizes [1]. Power electronic converters, especially DC/AC inverters have been extending their range of use in industrial application because they provide better system efficiency, reduced energy consumption and improved quality of power. I m not a diehard fan of astronomy and to be perfectly honest I find it difficult to follow most of the information I have learned. The term nebula has its origin in the adjective nebulous, which means lacking definite form or limits (Koupelis p.370). • 39. Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures. ... Lindbergh did not trust the police, used his influence to control the police, and kept all the ransom notes. Also Lindbergh was said to think that his son was not going to be healthy and big like most men. His feelings of having an imperfect child could have caused him to be involved. This armor is not literal armor that an individual can put on since characterizes such as truth and righteousness are not clothing items.
