oppressive government. All of these southern states were justified as they felt that they were not

flawed and that we must look at approaches used before its adoption and integrate parts of those
approaches into the study of archaeology. He points out that Symbols in Action helped him to
develop three ideas regarding how to do this. First, we must consider that material culture has
meaning. Second, that the individual is important to the development of theory in archaeology; and
finally that archaeology is most closely related to history and should consider that in its approach. In
looking at meaning in material culture Hodder brings up how ethnographic work showed that,
contrary to previous belief, interaction between cultures could actually lead to a more marked
difference in their pottery styles. He also referenced burial practices and refuse buildup, and how

she can sing in the children s choir, safe from harm.
After telling her daughter she can go to the church, the mother gives her a bath in rose petal
water, dresses her in her best clothes, and even gives her a pair of gloves to wear and little white
shoes. This is the most ironic part of the intire poem because the mother believes she is sending
her to a safe place, but is unaware of the fact, that she is doing the exact opposite and is sending
her child to her doom. Once her daughter has left, she smiles, but it is the last smile to come upon
her face. The gives the reader a sense that the young girl dressed all in white, is about to come to
her demise. Because if the young girl was going to a safe place, this would not be the last time that
her mother smiled.

That fact is something people these days need pressed into their brains so they will not be more
worried about why they cannot look the way models do. A model s career is centered on the
preservation of his or her outer appearance (Sales, 1 Jan. 2010). There is no need for teens to feel
pressures of a warped body image. They cannot afford a stylist and makeup artist to prepare them
for the day and touch them up as they go, nor do they need one to (Sales, 1 Jan 2010). Even with
such help, a model s day is not done without their photographs being airbrushed by computer
artists. Sometimes the models body shapes are changed (Kowalski, 1 Mar. 2003). Although, it is
understandable why teens do feel such pressure. A study on 3,200 girls in Girlguiding, UK
showed that the most influential role models (said by 95 percent of the girls) were Kate Moss
and Victoria Beckham (Bawdon, 1 Oct. 2007). Both women are very skinny and successful as
far as the modeling world is concerned. Unfortunately, the fashion world is numb, looking at
models only as clothes hangers and failing to see if they are healthy of not (Bawdon, 1 Oct.
2007). Boys and girls struggling with their growing bodies could not come to understand that
these men and women models are products of years of dieting, exercise binging, and possible
eating disorders to fix what the modeling world does not like about the way the models look.
