Introduction:
In this Lab report we will be using Red Cabbage extract as an indicator to determine the pH of
substances. The purpose of this experiment is to see if and how base and acids react. Indicators
are chemicals that change color depending on the pH solution that they are dissolved in. This
experiment will determine which items we use to determine ph. The pH of a solution indicates its
acidity or alkalinity. There is a ph. scale that determines if the items such as lemons or bleach are

Buffer solutions needed are in test tubes. Then get seven test tubes and place them in a rack and
label them. Place 3 ml of buffer into the (test tube 1 should be put in 1). I then put the appreciate
amount in I each tube. Then added 1.5 mL of red cabbage juice to each tube. Then I covered the
tubes with Para film and mixed thoroughly and waited until I saw changes if there were any.
Results:
The results of my experiment were as follows the pH of 2 has a pink color and the ph. of 12 had a
blue color. As I go down the chart the pH turned darker as I got to 6 and higher. See the figure 1 for
the changes in the color as you go from a pH of 2 to 12. As I got to 10 it was still a green blue color.

Discussion:
I have found out that the any number below 7 is more acidic such as lemons and bananas. I have
found that in conducting this experiment that cabbage juice was more acidic when added to the
Ph. of 6 or less within the buffer solution. Greater with the more Alkaline. There is more acid
which makes the solution a red to pink color and then it goes to neutral then it go to green than to
blue as the level gets

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited disorder that produces sickle or crescent shape red blood
cells. Thus, the mutated erythrocytes result in an inadequate supply of oxygen being transported
throughout the body. Research shows that among those affected the most with the sickle cell gene
are African Americans. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in mortality and morbidity
rates as a result of new approaches to treating the disease. The more we understand the
pathophysiology of sickle cell anemia, the more we learn about developing therapies for genetic
disorders such as SCA. In this paper, we will briefly discuss what sickle cell anemia is and possible
treatments for people with sickle cell anemia such as gene therapy and new drugs.
What is sickle cell anemia?
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. This missense mutation is
characterized by mutant beta globin subunits that tend to stick together (Cummings, 2014). As a
result, abnormally shaped red blood cells are produced by this disorder. The erythrocytes are
sickle or crescent shaped. Sickling occurs under hypoxic conditions, in which there is insufficient

There is always a debate going on within the LGBTQ+ community. One conflict of interests
questions whether or not same sex couples should be allowed to raise children. People are
claiming that development is being affected by the young who are raised by a gay, lesbian, or

up with two mommies or two daddies are not being affected in any way and should be treated no

During the activity, I chose federal budget cuts for domestic programs and foreign aid. I cut
foreign aid in half. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have
already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as
starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by
5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of
our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000
government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more
money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In
addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and

My College English Class and What I learned
The course definitely changed the way I approached writing a paper. One day in lecture you
quoted Ernest Hemmingway saying, The first draft of anything is shit. This changed the way I
approached and wrote papers. I used to start papers the night before, barely look over them and
making few changes. This course encouraged me to outline, write a rough draft and constantly
review then finalization the paper. Peer review before this class I though was pointless because
most student hardly pay attention to the paper and usually wrote good job. The students in the
class actually read my paper and gave honest feedback and ways to improve it. Also to have a
teacher read your draft and give feedback with what is wrong and ways to help the quality of the
paper helped greatly. This English class was definitely different than high schoolEnglish.
College English class was very different than high school English class. In high school there
was not much emphasis on proper headings and titles. If we had correct name, date and title, the
teacher would not care about the parts such as page number and margins. In high school we read
more books but mainly paid attention to the sequence of events and put pieces of the story
together and not go into detail about tone, point of view or persuasion in the book. High school
