For For ABC Complete Kitchens, Inc., Manufacturing is the...
The goal is every business is to generate profits for its shareholders and to operate for the
foreseeable future. For ABC Complete Kitchens, Inc., manufacturing has been the industry of
choice. With the building and upcoming opening of the new plant, it is expected that a boost in
productivity and profitability will follow. To be able to adequately measure how much the new
plant will contribute to the overall productivity and profitability of the company, certain factors
need to be taken into consideration. Because the company is solely involved in manufacturing, a
plant productivity analysis is one of the ways to quantify the exact level of contribution of the new
plant.

The involvement of suppliers would improve the quality of its product and services while the
involvement of customers would be beneficial to enhance the effectiveness of problem solving
activities.
The addition of the following situations in the information management system of ABC Complete
Kitchens, Inc. would be effective to enhance the effectiveness of the new plant: The system should
be web based so that information could be accessed easily; all require software should be
configured so that real time information and analysis can be provided; to choose the most effective
and operational operating system; include the security system to eliminate unauthorized access of
the information (Muchemu, 2006); and the effective change management system so as to reduce
any further conflict from the implementation of one/a set of information management system(s).
Information management is paramount for any business because in the current business
environment, no business can be successful without the effective manipulation information. The
analysis of the information relevant to the business helps to accomplish the organizational goals. In
the growing age of the information technology the information management system helps to find
the appropriate information in an easy manner. The business includes a lot of information that is

Essay Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Albermarle County, Virginia. He was born in a
simple four room house in Shadwell, Virginia, what is now Monticello. His father, Peter
Jefferson, was a planter who was a bright, brave, and strong man. His mother was a very gentle
lady. She was boring under one of the most distinguished families in the area. His family had
prospered since the first Jefferson arrived in America from Whales in 1612. Soon after Jefferson s
birth, the French and British began fighting their third war in a half of century over North America
s territory.
Jefferson went to an English school at the age of five where he remained for four years. He was

Thomas Jefferson and one of his closest friends, James Madison, developed a strong political
partnership. They exchanged more than 1,200 letters.
After serving under the Virginia House of Delegates, Jefferson was elected Governor of Virginia
for a one year term on July 1, 1779. He was later reelected. In September of 1782, Jefferson s wife
Martha died of an illness which saddened him for many months. A year later he was elected to the
Congress of Virginia. As you can tell, Jefferson has many duties for his country during the
American Revolution.
The Ordinance of 1784 marks the high point of Jefferson s opposition to slavery. Little was done
about this issue during Jefferson s time, but he helped lead up to the abolition of slavery. In
September of 1789, Jefferson became Secretary of State under the first president of the United
States, George Washington. He resigned in 1798 during the century s worst yellow fever epidemic.
Thomas Jefferson was not only known as a political figure. He was also involved in the field of
invention where he invented many things of technology and life. In order to get out of his person
debt. He began cultivating land and growing tobacco. This led to his invention of the plow. He also
made many renovations to Monticello. He added many technological advances to the house for this
time period. These include such items as a swivel chair, dumbwaiter,

Is Censorship Harmful For School
Censorship is keeping knowledge or information away from any person. Just think if a
community was completely censored, everything and everyone would be the same, like in the
book The Giver by Lois Lowry. Nobody wants to the the same as someone else, us as people of the
U.S. should be able to be unique and different. Censorshipis harmful to the community because it,
restricts children s learning experience, and restricts them from what the real world is really like.
Some people say censorship may be good for schools to some extent because it restricts students
from certain concepts that are inappropriate to teach. Although, that may be almost true, it is not.
Many people can argue that censorship is bad because it does not give students the full conception
of education(Censorship in the schools). Students could also learn how to discriminate and make
unthought decisions. If students were not growing intellectually, they could be controlled by
many people smarter than them because they do not know any better. Censorship is harmful
because it results in the opposite of true education and learning (Censorship in the schools). Just
think if parents, teachers, and school boards ban or restrict books from the students, is it good or
bad? Many people would say it is good because they do not want their children to read a book
about violence, that have cursing, or defacing of their religion. Also, many may say it is bad
because it could keep children from reading about

High School Band Research Paper
Auditioning for the Missouri State Band was a high school dream come true for me. The
countless hours of practice and dedication that I put into my audition material made me one of
the potential candidates to have a seat in the ensemble. To have gotten this far meant that I had
been selected to perform in my district band. However, the audition that I had passed for
admittance into my district band did not prepare me for the challenged that I had before me.
Behind the door leading into the audition room would be four adjudicators. Those four
adjudicators would decide my fate; would I be accepted or turned away? I had prepared for this
moment for six consecutive months, hours upon hours of practice. Every day I practiced the same

facing the wall was a line of adjudicators who would judge my playing ability and determine
whether or not I pass. I placed my music on the lone stand in the middle of the room. My mouth
became dry and my hands started to shake more vigorously. I started to play. My first task was my
chromatic scale, every note that my instrument, clarinet, is capable of playing. Something that

incapable of completing the whole exercise. My heart starting beating faster and faster, my
mouth still dry, my lungs feel as though they are failing. I continued through my audition, each

shown out through the door by the room monitor. Standing outside the door I felt a sense of
relief, but I also felt like a failure. I had spent hours preparing for this audition only to fail in a
matter of seconds. When the final callbacks were posted and my name was not listed I was
reminded yet again of my failure. However, I knew that this was not a true indication of my

What Is The Theme Of A Walk In The Woods
A Walk in the Woods is story about how venturing out into the wilderness can be fun and can
reveal an exciting experience when walking or taking hikes. The author of the story, Bill Bryson,
tells the story about his journey while on expedition with his partner, Stephen Katz, and how it is
memorable story to remember when you are hiking or on a similar adventure. In the beginning
paragraphs of the story, Bill Brysonexplains that when hiking, your mind shouldn t be on one
main goal, but to act as a balloon tethered with a string. Your mind shouldn t be set on one main
goal, but to just to act in a kind of Mobile Zen mode. For example, this tells that Bill Bryson is

Plumbing During The Roman Empire Essay
The water toilet may be a modern invention, but plumbing has existed since 2700 BC with the
civilizations of the Indus Valley designing the first plumbing system for its people. However,
among the ancient civilizations that became vast civilizations, the Romans attained the use of
plumbing and toilets into an art, so much that an individual from the past decade could go to
Ancient Romeand understand everything about an ancient toilet easily, even if the lack of comfort
might seem unsettling at first. When it comes to plumbinghistory, all roads, literally, lead to the
Roman Empire. Plumbing technology, as well as, the plumbing profession flourished during the
Roman Empire in such a way that was not able to be duplicated for one thousand years. The
advances in aquifers, sewage, and drainage the Romans made, are still some of the same designs
plumbers use today.
The Romans, as we now understand, had a slight fixation with aqueducts and baths, to keep their
royal family hygienectically clean, as well as appealing, and Rome s citizen s hygiene up to
date; kind of hygiene freaks, they were. However, Because of this, plumbing became a
profession in its own sense, and the ancient plumber became a trade that would be used, literally
around the world. Indoor plumbing was not for everyone, only most wealthy could afford it, and
they were charged for the use of public water, and the network that fed the water with a fee based
on the size of each pipe they used (History of

Markets And International Monetary Fund
Markets Want Greece in the Eurozone The fickleness of financial markets is a constant source of
both frustration and amazement, particularly in the Eurozone. Having started last week concerned
about the ramifications of a resounding No vote in Greece s referendum about bailout terms
imposed by the Troika, there was a strong rally in anticipation of deal eventually being signed
between Greece and her creditors. Markets have, therefore, seemingly taken the view that the best
known outcome is for Greece to remain in the single currency, regardless of the imperfections of
any agreement. In the absence of substantial debt write downs, however, the situation facing Greece
remains dire. Both the US and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have... Show more content on

Thus, this highlights the utter hypocrisy of the current negotiations surrounding Greece: both
France and Germany, in fact, conveniently ignored the rules for the fiscal convergence criteria
when it suited them. Neither country was sanctioned in a major way. France could well find
itself in the firing line if it fails to prevent a Greek exit from the single currency. The
sustainability of the current membership of euro has, therefore, not been laid to rest.
Understanding Events in China Events in China took on a new level of intensity last week as
the authorities attempted to stabilise the equity market. The weakness appears to be event drive
as opposed to being the result of economic malaise. In fact, recent economic data out of China
suggests that recent stimulus measures appear to have had some traction. The event in question
appears to be a large margin call being made by one of the main regulatory authorities. Recently,
I mentioned that margin debt as a percentage of GDP was a relatively high 8%. The problem
facing the authorities was sourcing where the trouble was emanating from. Margin debt can be
originated from two sources: 1) licensed brokers, and 2) the so called grey market within the
shadow banking system. The origination split is roughly 50/50 between the two sectors. This is
where the similarities end. At licensed brokers, margin credit can only be extended for up

2 November 2015 In the novel, The Great Gatsby, two of the central women are Daisy Buchanan
and Myrtle Wilson. At first glance, the reader may think there are no similarities between Daisy and
Myrtle; however, these two characters have more in common than one might think. Although they
seem diverse in many ways, they maintain, in fact, very similar personalities. The novel shows the
hardships and complications they both have in marriages, and the resulting outcomes. Both women
are extremely beautiful and use their beauty knowingly to get what they want in terms of happiness.

Tang Dynasty Research Paper
The Tang Dynasty was the most successful Chinese dynasty because of its incredible
government, enjoyable daily life, and amazing inventions and accomplishments. The Tang
Dynasty was the most successful dynasty because it had amazing emperors and government.
The dynasty started in 618 CE The second emperor, Taizong, reformed the military and
expanded the empire to stretch over Tibet, Eastern Turkey, and Inner Mongolia. He used forced
labor and taxes less, and allowed people to practice many different religions such as Christianity
and Buddhism. However, towards his decline, he became power hungry and ignored his duties.
Taizong then ordered many extravagant things to be built, such as a palace that took two million
days to be built, which he took down because the climate around it was too hot and the palace was
too grand. When he finally passed on, he gave the duty of being the emperor to his ninth son,
Gaozong. Gaozong then became the third emperor of the dynasty. Gaozong soon married Lady
Wang. He soon saw Wu Zetianin a temple and made her his concubine. Wu Zetian then rose to
power after allegedly murdering her daughter and accusing Lady Wang of doing so, which
caused Gaozong to divorce her. Even now, nobody truly knows who killed her daughter. Then,
she connected Lady Xiao, who was Gaozong s former first concubine, to the crime and got her
exiled, which was how Wu rose to power as empress. Later in 660 CE, she unofficially became
emperor of China. Although she did not

Mountain Mountains On The Planet
Mountain climbing in Alaska When I hear a person talk about the great state of Alaska, I wonder
what he or she would say about it. Is it the endless mountain ranges covered with snow, or could it
be the frigid temperatures? The state of Alaska has mountains as far as the eye can see. If you have
ever climbed to the top of a mountain, you know how exciting it can be once you have reached the
top. Especially, when it is your first experience climbingthe face of any mountain and you do not
know what to expect. As a child, my memory recalls the first time I was pretending to scale
towering mountain sides to impress my friends and family. When we are children, the world
appears a lot larger, and the mountain tops in my back yard in southern California seemed
colossal to me. Playing in the foothills, I would try to imagine myself scaling one of the greatest
mountains on the planet. Nearly twenty five years have come to pass, and I still seek mountain
ranges to explore. I have always enjoyed the outdoors, rather than being indoors all the time.
Mountain climbing is rewarding and exhausting simultaneously. I like to find new places out in
the wilderness. One of my favorite moments is when I find a waterfall; something about the
sounds of flowing water soothes my soul. At the beginning of 2010, I received a call from the
engineering firm I worked for; they informed me of a unique project for the oil and gas industry

Conflict presents itself in many different forms. Whether it be the massacre of over 800,000 people
that the Rwandan Genocide caused in a mere hundred days, or the long lasting conflict between the

the quarreling families. It does however say that it has been occurring for a long time and it is just

Patent Rights, And Foreign Patent Protection
In the encyclopedia excerpt on the patent it explains what may be patented, obtaining a patent, the
nature of patent rights, and foreign patent protection. To begin, this article describes what maybe
patented. There are three types of patents utility patents, design patents, and plant patents. Each of
these give the inventors ownership of their idea or invention. The utility patentis created for the
usefulness of the invention. The utility patent is the most common patent used. A design patent is
how the invention looks over how it works. Lastly, the plant patent, which is granted to a
developer or discoverer and new variety of plant, reproduced by cuttings, grafting, or other asexual
means. All types of patent are governed under title 35 of the United States codes. Under this code it
explains that all patents are under the patent statues. Getting approval on a patent does not meant
that it is a new invention all the time it could just be an improvement or just a new way of doing
something. In addition, obtaining a patent is a long and challenging process. It takes time to apply
for a chance to submit an application to the examiners. After the application is approved it is then
published into the public. The invention has to be a new or novel invention. Being novel means
that it is nonobvious. Furthermore, the patent holder has 17 years to exclude others from making,
using, or selling the invention throughout the United States. A patentee can give people some rights

The Exodus Source Analysis Essay
The Exodus
In this source analysis paper I will be analyzing the Bible, specifically Exodus, to explore the
Israelite people during their time of wandering from Egypt to the Promised Land and why it took
them so long to reach their destination. It will also touch on Moses and his descendants and
reason as to why he was able to look at the land, but unable to go and live there.
To give a brief description, Exodus is a Greek word that translates to departure or going out. A
large chunk of Exodus as well as Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy follow the Israelites in their

Two figures walking up the bridge seem to be a man and an elder, as indicated by how one is

behind them barefooted. And coming down from the bridge, there is a man adorned in a bright

and have different destinations and purposes to get there. It can be inferred that because the
Tokugawa period was a time of peace, that people were more inclined to travel due to the
stability of the period. Instead of just traveling for trade and goods, people started to venture out
more casually and for personal gain, exemplified by how the boy is barefooted, suggesting that
he is only traveling a small distance, and the monk and disciple are likely traveling for religious

Cronon s View On Wilderness
However Cronon does acknowledge the positivity associated with the idea of wilderness when he
concludes his argument with an intriguing question: How can we take the positive values we
associate with wilderness and bring them closer to home? I believe that part of the answer to this
question comes from the rhetoric of these vary same 19th Century romantic thinkers who were able
to develop true connections to the landscape around them.
Developing a connection to the landscape was a primary focus of one of the 19th century writers
that Cronon critiques, Henry David Thoreau. In order to understand how Thoreau developed his
ideas on wilderness, it is important to understand the political and economic environment in which
he lived in. At the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He concludes one of his final chapters of Walden by stating that, we need the tonic of wildness.
Thoreau believes that there is a quality associated with wild landscapes that humans need in
order to function as a species. Instead of writing about the overpowering experience that we can
find in untouched landscapes, Thoreau rather focuses on bringing those experiences back to our
home. In a journal, Thoreau writes that, It is in vain to dream of a wildness distant from
ourselves. There is none such. It is in the bog in our brain and bowels, the primitive vigor of
Nature in us, that inspires that dream. I shall never find in the wilds of Labrador any greater
wildness than in some recess in Concord, i.e., than I import into it. (J, IX, 43). Thoreau learned
about the overpowering and personal sensory experiences that you can feel in the wilderness and
learned that you can bring that quality of nature back to home and still have the same experience.
And I believe that this is the essential point that Thoreau brings to American culture with Walden.
Thoreau wants Americans to bring this tonic of wildness to everyday life because he believes it is
missing and can make their lives deliberate and fulfilled. Thoreau s overwhelming appreciating of
the tonic of wildness is furthermore important based on the fact that the last passage he writes in

8, 1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working

Illegal Immigrants Should Not Be Trafficked
However, this topic has been very controversial since some Thai authorities do not acknowledge
these Burmese individuals as victims , rather they acknowledge them as individuals who have been
illegally smuggled into Thailand (Gjerdingen 699). This is one of the strongest arguments that
Thailand has over not having a responsibility over those being trafficked into their country, because
these people actually choose to be trafficked rather than by coercion. Trafficked victims are given
assistance not because they choose to be trafficked, but because they were coerced into the system
which violates their rights as free people. There is some truth to this statement, because some
individuals are lured into being trafficked because of their current country s poor economic
situation (Gjerdingen 718). If a person moves to another country willingly and under illegal
circumstances then they are no longer considered as trafficked victims but as illegal immigrants.
Therefore they cannot claim the status of refugee and receive protection and rights. This is the only
circumstance in which Thailandwould not have responsibility over the victims, but it is very
difficult to distinguish one from the other, that Thailand might not be able to use this argument as
often as it would like. Despite this controversy, it depicts that under the Morality of State Theory
there is possibility that states might have an obligation to protect victims of human trafficking, if
they are given the status as

Radiotracer Essay
In the presence of the radiotracer 11C raclopride, there is an evident decrease of the binding
potential in patients that are administered with Modafinil. The decrease is evident in both the
Putamen and the Caudate. Modafinil increases the dopamine present in the synapses as a result of
the decrease in dopamineregions. There is an increase in dopamine present in the synapse and an
increase in the competition of receptor binding on the postsynaptic cell. The decreased amount of
radiotracer indicates the available dopamine active transporters which are occupied with Modafinil
therefore, resulting in the increase of dopamine in the synapse and competition of binding to the
receptors.
This differs from the initial baseline placebo of radiotracer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The [C]raclopride plays a role in determining the extracellular dopamine in the synapse. The theory
of addiction is the idea that addictive drugs have a particular nature of releasing dopamine, while
psychoactive non addictive drugs do not. Alcohol and Cannabis have been demonstrated to lack
certain qualities associated with inducing the release of dopamine in comparison to [C]cocaine.
Figure 2 demonstrates an increase of dopamine levels in the ventral striatum which is produced by
amphetamine and alcohol administration. In regards to [C]cocaine, there is a reduction in the
radiotracer as a result of decreased expression of postsynaptic dopamine receptors. Alcohol
dependent individuals demonstrated to have a decreased number of radiotracers, and cannabis
detected almost no changes in the dopamine receptor availability. The article itself suggested that
addiction is a complex mechanism that involves external factors such as environment, along with
variation in drug reaction from person to person. It was suggested he it was unlikely that a single
neurotransmitter could explain every aspect associated with addiction. The role of dopamine is
concluded to have a central role in addiction to stimulant drugs; which directly affect the dopamine
system, but less so, in reference to mediating the addiction of other drugs such as

Analysis Of The Man In Mccarthy s The Road
In a world that was changed by chaos, The Man remained the same man from the beginning of the
novel until the end. Throughout his journey on The Road, The Man s dedication to the survival of
The Boy and never faltered, and stayed constant no matter what life threw at him. The Man ended
his expedition on The Roadthe same manas when he started it.
At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The
Man: his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly
affects his actions. We see his devotion through small acts like how The Man sleeps with The
Boy to keep him warm and how The Boy always drinks, eats, and bathes before The Man. The
reader sees a larger example of this commitment when a bad guy threatened The Boy with a knife.
The Man swiftly and ruthlessly shot the man who fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling
from the hole in his forehead. (McCarthy.). Rather than simply incapacitating the bad guy, The Man
made sure that at least that man would never be able to hurt or threaten The Boy again. The Man is
not only devoted to his son, but he is committed to his goals of heading South. Even though they
made some stops along the way, the idea of getting South and to the shore never wavered from The
Man s head. The intensity that The Man devoted to protecting The Boy continued as their journey
did. When someone started shooting the two men with arrows, the readers were treated to

Life Of Being Born As A Hermaphrodite And The...
Summary
The article mainly discusses the life of being born as a hermaphrodite and the contradictions that
medical management and medical investigators have on them. The author of the article, Anne
Fausto Sterling, believes that hermaphrodites are human too and that the medical field should only
worry about the hermaphrodite s health conditions rather than their physical appearance. The
article states that Western culture strongly agrees that there are only two sexes, so being a
hermaphrodite is none existing. They are simply unexplored by science itself (pg. 2). Sterling
believes that hermaphrodites have needs as well as problems that need to be met and that they
deserve to be accounted for as sexes. The five sexes that are being discussed are male, female, and
intersex. Intersex is described as a catch all category for the subgroups that share both male and
female characteristics. That creates the term hermaphrodite (herms), which are people who have
both male and female parts. The second subgroup is called male pseudo hermaphrodites (merms)
which are people who are born with mostly male parts. The third subgroup is called female
pseudo hermaphrodites (ferms) who are those who mainly have female organs. The article focuses
on the structure of how hermaphrodites are classified. Ferms, which are the females, are mainly
female because they still develop a menstrual cycle during puberty but if they do not take any
medication for their disorder, they would develop traits as a

The Social And Medical History For Women During 19th...
Haimabati s persona in the narrative reveals two contradictory aspects of her position and
situation in the social and medical history for women in 19th century Bengal. In a sense she was
radical, taking decisions for herself, rejecting Brahminical Hinduism, remarrying a Brahmo, and
pursuing at great risk her ambition to get educated and become self sufficient. During her
wanderings in search for education and a better life, after she left Benares, she met a woman
ruined and deserted by the man she hoped to marry. Haimabati immediately becomes sympathetic
and calls her sister , showing true female solidarity. From her own experience of being a child

Later in the narrative, he shows the true colours of his male ego, abusing Haimabati for nothing,
beating her at times, and jeopardising her professional life. At one point he got involved in a
brawl with Haimabati s superior at her workplace, and it was she who saved him from a legal
action, by apologising for his conduct. He knew that he would never be able to earn himself, yet
it was no longer bearable to his male ego to live on his wife s income. Haimabati does not use
any harsh word to describe these feats of her husband, but her sense of irritation is not always
hidden, though she tried to wear a stoical calm and accept everything as God s will. Her willing
compromise with her husband s abuses shows how internalised patriarchy could be: being
otherwise so self sufficient she kept herself subservient to the man who, she believed, showed the
generosity of remarrying her and providing her with a respectable status in society. These
contradictions and complexities in Haimabati s life, which Indrani Sen has also noticed (60) point
towards an intriguing paradox in feminist history. Her struggle for identity, extraordinary despite all
these contradictions, shaped her personality in two ways: by resisting patriarchy and by
compromising with it.

Welfare And The Government s Contribution Towards Poverty
Government aid is a hotly debated topic. Crossing the bounds of politics, economics, and
sociology, it seems like everyone has an opinion about welfare and the government s contribution
towards alleviating poverty. Amongst all these opinions, a person can get confused on what is fact
and fiction, who is right and who is wrong. However, with actual data accredited to unbiased
sources, and references to qualified studies, I have confounded enough evidence to support my
claim. I found that despite opinions, according to the facts, welfaredoes help alleviate poverty.
According to the article Ending Welfare as We Know It: A Reform Still in Progress, in the long
term, as more aid is given the poverty rate declines. Less people are stuck in poverty, and on
average the number who use federal aid declines, resulting in a decline in poverty. The focus of
the source was to figure out whether or not the reforms in welfare did anything to help alleviate
poverty. This article references statistics taken by the U.S Census bureau. According to the U.S
Census bureau, through utilizing welfare policies such as Medicaid, the number of citizens reliant
on in the USA, dropped by 945,900 from in between 1996 to 1999. Thus showing that welfare does
help those in poverty, and in the long run helps them get themselves above the poverty threshold
and off of welfare. The author of the article, James Caraley is the President of the Academy of

Eating Disorders
According to The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) website, eating disorders are
actually serious and often fatal illnesses causing serve disturbances to a person s eating
behaviors. People with eating disorders often have obsessions with food, their body weight, and
their shape. There is, however, a difference between an eating disorder and a diet. It is important
to know the difference. Eating disorders are a daily struggle for 10 million females and 1 million
males in the United States (Eating Disorder Hope). An eating disorder is a compulsion to avoid
eating in order to lose weight while a diet is cutting down eating or healthier eating in order to lose
weight. The three types of an eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge
eating disorder. All three disorders are important and they all deserve immediate treatment. No
matter what eating disorder someone has, it can resort in organ damage and sometimes even death.
The average that someone develops anorexia is 19 years old (NIMH), but that does not mean a
person can only be 19 in order to develop an eating disorder. The NIMH has reported cases of
eating disorders reporting in ages as low as .1 percent of eight to eleven year olds and .2 percent
of twelve to fifteen year olds. Eating disorders are becoming more common for students in high
school and college, since they view it as a coping mechanism to handle their

Elizabeth Bishop Research Paper
Elizabeth Bishop is a remarkable poet; she contributed to the Postmodern era experiment of the
20th century when poets played with nontraditional forms and intricate verse. She wrote exactly
101 poems exploring diverse topics such as death and alcoholism. Bishop rose to prominence after
she published her first collection of poetry, North and South, and published her first novel along
with eighteen new poems in Poems: North and South A Cold Spring, nine years later. Critics
through the ages praise Bishop for her detailed imagery, and her influence in the postmodern poetry
is noteworthy to this day.
Elizabeth Bishop had a fractured childhood. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts February
11, 1911. Within eight months of her birth, her father, William Thomas Bishop, died due to
inflammation of the kidneys. The trauma of his death led to Elizabeth Bishop s mother, Gertrude
May Blumer, mental insanity and eventual admission to a mental asylum. Although these events
occurred very early on in her life, Bishop managed to create accurate descriptions of these
experiences in her poems. However, it is difficult to determine the exact moment when the full
weight of these early losses began to influence her writings since only a few poems ... Show more

Chronic Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It is thought that nearly 85% of
adults have some stage of periodontal disease. With that being said it means periodontal disease
is more common than heart disease and cancer. The good thing about this disease is that if it is
caught in an early stage it can be reversible, but if it is left untreated it can become very dangerous
leading to tooth loss and possibly surgery.
Periodontal disease refers to a group of problems that arise in the crevice between the gum and the
tooth or the gum sulcus. The disease is normally categorized into two groups, it has several
different phases and progresses. The first group is called gingivitis which is an inflammation of the

There are many categories of periodontal disease. They include chronic periodontitis, aggressive
periodontitis, disease related periodontitis, and acute necrotizing periodontal disease. Just because
you have gingivitis does not mean you will get periodontitis, in fact some experts believe that they
are two very different diseases. Chronic periodontitis is basically the same thing as gingivitis but it
has a few more symptoms including; halitosis, a persistent metallic taste in the mouth, and gingival
recession. Most patients who have this will not even worry or they might not even know. Most of
the time inflammation and bone destruction is painless, patients just assume that they just need to
floss more or brush more often. This can often be solved by better oral care. Patients who suffer
from aggressive periodontitis are normally younger than patients who have the chronic form. People
who have this are generally healthy other than the presence of periodontal disease. These people
will experience rapid loss of periodontal attachment fibers and bone destruction. They also will have
a depressed neutrophil function, the neutrophils can also be defective, resulting in depressed
chemotaxis and phagocytosis. Patients with this

refers to active involvement on implementation. They can participate in oversight, governance,

care offers many benefits. It can increase access to primary and preventive care (with minimal or
no out of pocket costs). It can also monitor and improve the practices of physicians and other

Auteur Director Case Study
2. Make the case for either Hayao Miyazaki or Isao Takahata as an auteur director I choose the
case of Hayao Miyazaki as an auteur director for this essay. First, what is an auteur director? The
word auteur comes from french that means author and the auteur theory itself is a lens or way
of looking at movies that put the director as the author of the movie. The Auteur Theory argues
that a movie represents the director s passion and vision; thus, movies that are directed by an
auteur director will reeks of their own signature styles which can be found in repetitive and
recognisable patterns, themes, and in some cases visual (in our case is art) that will give the
audience hints as who is the director of the movie. It is pretty rare to find an auteur director these
days because usually to be able to be an auteur director, a director has to have a full control, from
the cast, the visual and the music, of the the movie that they make. Most producers don t give
directors that kind of full control. There s not a lot of auteur directors that make it big in the movie
industry. Think of Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan. They are a few of the

is known for its small body size averaging less than 2 feet in length with a row of dark blotches
down the middle of of its back with smaller spots along each side (Pennsylvania Boat Fish
Commission). Comparing the 2 snakes, it is apparent that they are quite different in size and
have different colors and patterns to their scales. The copperhead snake is tan or light brown in
color and also has larger but more narrow blotches along the length of his body and their head are
a copper color with no markings (Pennsylvania Boat Fish Commission). As these snakes all show
different traits they all are similar because they are all from the pit viper family and are extremely

The Statement Of Principles By The International...
The Statement of Principles by the International Conference on Cataloguing Principles in Paris
in 1961 established the rules and concepts that create catalog standardization for libraries
multinationally. Based, in part, on Samuel Lubetzky s unfinished book Code of cataloging
rules; author and title entry. An unfinished draft for a new edition of cataloging rules (1960), the
Paris Principles created order in a library community that was much less communal than it is
today by modernizing antiquated cataloging systems and bringing consensus and consistency to
the world of library information organization (Lubetzky, 1960). Communal borrowing and
sharing of bibliographic data was primarily implemented to serve library catalogs, particularly of
large general libraries and are designed for printed books and documents (Frost 1983). Here in
lies the weakness of this system libraries have evolved. The main focus of this paper, and a
primary component of the Paris Principles, is the main entry point a prime component that
allowed for international cataloging consistency. With the move from the Paris Principles to
AACR2 (Anglo American cataloguing rules, second edition) and the evolution toward RDA
(Resource description and access), modern library catalogers are finding less and less of a need
for the main entry point in a record, or at least the traditional main entry point of an author s name
or a resource s title (Ridley, 1997). Using an access point as the main entry point has

The City Of Haltom s Annual Budget
have evaluated the City of Haltom s Annual Budget for Fiscal 2016 budget using the Government
Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recommended budget practices. The Annual Budget was
reviewed under four major categories which are as follows: policy document, financial plan,
operations guide, and communication device. Using the GFOA awards scale my rating of the budget
for each individual category and the budget as a whole is a 4 (outstanding). The City of Haltom
has received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for fiscal years 1987 2014. The budgets
prepared for submission have been recognized with the GFOA Distinguished Budget award
annually since 1989 with exception of one year. The City continues to participate successfully in
these two programs and follow mandatory and non mandatory guidelines of the GFOA. The City
of Haltom Budget is very transparent and provides a great deal of information to its citizens
whom the city views at the top of the organizational chart for the city. The City s budget for
FY2016 appears to continue to conform to the GFOA program requirements and upon submission
of their budget I have no doubt their budget for FY 2016 will receive a GFOA Distinguished
Budget award.
Introduction
The budget process is a powerful planning tool for government to make important resource
decisions. According the Carney and Schoenfeld s article on How to read a Budget, an operating

The Consequences And Extinction Of Animals By Climate...
The Consequences and the Extinction of Animals By Climate Change
The warnings about global warming have been extremely clear for a long time. We are facing a
global climate crisis. It is deepening. We are entering a period of consequences (Al Gore). Global
warming is a nationwide problem that is affecting people and the environment by the greenhouse
gases. Global warming increases the atmospheric temperature. For instance, the solar radiation is
reflected by the Earth s atmosphere. Earth s surface absorbs most of the radiation, and it warms it.
Part of the invisible light traverses the air. A few are immersed and transmitted in an outright
direction by pollutants molecules. The effect of global warming is an increased temperature of the
earth s surface and the lower atmosphere. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) which measures long lived greenhouse gases increased 37 percent from
1990 to 2015, and of that, carbon dioxide accounted for 80 percent of the increase (Keating 2). The
greenhouse gases are causing that the temperatures rise. Global warming is a huge problem that we
face today; it is caused by the greenhouse effect that leads to climate change and the extinction of
many animals.
Global warming is increasing the temperatures in our planet Earth leading to climate change. The
primary reason for global warming is the human development of the greenhouse effect causing
natural disasters. Shaftel declares that Global climate

The Great Gatsby Adaptation Essay
The adaptation of literature into film is a process that requires careful and experienced methods of
cinematic attention to details according to crucial narrative aspects of the literary piece. The film
industry has been creating visual versions of literature for quite some time, but the advancement of
modern technology has opened the door to a world full of new and exciting possibilities in terms
of visual and special effects. The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgeraldis a timeless classic of the
American literary canon, and is a popular choice for film adaptation because the vivid imagery and
strategic symbolism of the plot that lends itself to visual recreation. Dixon (2003) comments on the
problematic attempts of film adaptations of The Great Gatsby when he states, ...the various

For example, he deletes a scene that is key to Fitzgerald s novel; consequently, he perverts the
author s original intentions for an initial establishment of the friendship between Jay Gatsby and
Nick prior to the introduction of the cultural party elements. Dixon (2003), who asserts that
Coppola sullied Fitzgerald s original intentions, reinforces this claim when he states, For example,
Nick meets Gatsby during one of his parties at Gatsby s mansion in a causal, offhand fashion. But
in the film, Nick goes for the first time to one of Gatsby s parties, is melodramatically accosted by
a grim faced bodyguard, taken upstairs in a private elevator, and finally thrust into Gatsby s study.
This attempt to heighten artificially the initial contact between Nick and Gatsby demonstrates an
unfortunate reliance upon extremely clichГ©d devices to provide dramatic tension (p. 293).
However, Fitzgerald makes it clear that Nick and Gatsby s relationship exists separately from the
dramatic elements of the

Free Day Book Report
I discovered that the title of the book is roused by Mark Twain who once stated, On the off
chance that you begin the day by eating a frog you will have the fulfillment of realizing this was
presumably the most exceedingly terrible thing you needed to do that day . I take the frog to
speak to the most exceedingly awful or most troublesome errand or occupation that you need to
do. On the off chance that you begin the free day completing that, at that point it will be finished
and the most exceedingly bad is past, and you can proceed onward to a more profitable day.
The frog is normally the thing that you fear the most, which could be at home or at work.
Generally my greatest issues are sure errands at work, which typically influence me to

As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse...
As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse Owens created History in 1936 when
he achieved what no athlete had done before: four Olympic Gold Medals. (jesseowens.com).
During this era, the United States had limited civil rights and was approaching a World War with
Hitler rising into power in Germany. Although Owens was victorious on the track, because of the
color of his skin, He was looked down upon and unrecognized by even his own country. Through
the excessive racism, one may ask how Owens moved forward and dealt with such negativity in a
situation that should have been celebrated.
Henry and Emma Alexander Owens gave birth to James Cleveland Owens on September 12, 1913
in Alabama (www.jesseowens.com). At the age of nine,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite such success, Owens did not have the privilege to the luxuries of his fellow white
teammates. Owens had to stay in black only hotels and restaurants. And although he deserved it,
he was not offered any scholarships because he was Black and therefore was forced to work part
time in order to pay for his education.
On May 25th, 1935 Jesse Owens set three world records in a span of forty five minutes at the Big
Ten Championships in Ann Arbor(www.jesseowens.com). Despite his sore back that day, he
achieved a 9.4 second victory in the 100 meter dash, long jumped 26 ft. 8 Вј inches, sprinted at 20.3
seconds on the 220 meter sprint, and succeeded in the 220 yard low hurdles at 22.6 seconds.
Owens s achievement stands as perhaps the best single day accomplishment of any track and field
athlete history. Because of such great success, Owens entered the 1936 Olympics that were to be
held in Berlin, Germany.
Hitler was rising into power in Germany and it is said that he tried to use the Olympics in order
to show the world a resurgent Germany (www.jesse owens.org). Nazi propaganda promoted
concepts of Aryan racial superiority and depicted Africans as inferior. Hitler wanted the entire
world to believe that the Aryan people were a dominant race. Owens had different plans, as he
achieved four victories during the Track and field Olympics. On August 3rd Owens won the 100
meter dash at 10.35 seconds against Ralph

Analysis Of Tony Kushner And Athol Fugard
Both Tony Kushner and Athol Fugard demonstrate the effects societal standards have on
individuality. Kushner s Angels in America focused on homosexuality and the AIDS crisis during
the Reagan Era, whereas Fugard s Master Harold ...and the Boys concentrated on the issue of racism
taking place during the South African apartheid. Whether striving for a new identityor being limited
by one according to societal standards, all of the characters featured in these plays struggle to
come to terms with their true self. In this paper, I will explain the effects that stereotypes and
labels had on the growth, or lack thereof, of these individuals. A political call to arms for the age of
AIDS and homosexuality, Angels in America follows the lives of two very different, but equally
troubled couples: Jewish word processor Louis Ironson and his estranged lover, Prior Walter and
closeted gay Republican lawyer Joe Pitt and his attention seeking, Valium addicted wife, Harper.
Louis leaves Prior after realizing that he cannot endure the pressure that comes along with being
someone s fulltime caretaker. Meanwhile, Joe grapples with the idea of moving to Washington
after receiving a new job offer whilst simultaneously dealing with his wife s drug addiction and his
homosexuality. Within those two pairs, each of the four individuals struggles to come to terms with
his or her true identity. As the play progresses, the couples lives become increasingly intertwined as
they search for ways to

Thomas Jefferson and one of his closest friends, James Madison, developed a strong political partnership. They exchanged more than 1,200 letters. After serving under the Virginia House of Delegates, Jefferson was elected Governor of Virginia for a one year term on July 1, 1779. He was later reelected. In September of 1782, Jefferson s wife Martha died of an illness which saddened him for many months. A year later he was elected to the Congress of Virginia. As you can tell, Jefferson has many duties for his country during the American Revolution. The Ordinance of 1784 marks the high point of Jefferson s opposition to slavery. Little was done about this issue during Jefferson s time, but he helped lead up to the abolition of slavery. In September of 1789, Jefferson became Secretary of State under the first president of the United States, George Washington. He resigned in 1798 during the century s worst yellow fever epidemic. Thomas Jefferson was not only known as a political figure. He was also involved in the field of invention where he invented many things of technology and life. In order to get out of his person debt. • 4. Is Censorship Harmful For School Censorship is keeping knowledge or information away from any person. Just think if a community was completely censored, everything and everyone would be the same, like in the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. Nobody wants to the the same as someone else, us as people of the U.S. should be able to be unique and different. Censorshipis harmful to the community because it, restricts children s learning experience, and restricts them from what the real world is really like. Some people say censorship may be good for schools to some extent because it restricts students from certain concepts that are inappropriate to teach. Although, that may be almost true, it is not. Many people can argue that censorship is bad because it does not give students the full conception of education(Censorship in the schools). Students could also learn how to discriminate and make unthought decisions. If students were not growing intellectually, they could be controlled by many people smarter than them because they do not know any better. Censorship is harmful because it results in the opposite of true education and learning (Censorship in the schools). Just think if parents, teachers, and school boards ban or restrict books from the students, is it good or bad? Many people would say it is good because they do not want their children to read a book about violence, that have cursing, or defacing of their religion. Also, many may say it is bad because it could keep children from reading about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The countless hours of practice and dedication that I put into my audition material made me one of the potential candidates to have a seat in the ensemble. To have gotten this far meant that I had been selected to perform in my district band. However, the audition that I had passed for admittance into my district band did not prepare me for the challenged that I had before me. Behind the door leading into the audition room would be four adjudicators. Those four adjudicators would decide my fate; would I be accepted or turned away? My mouth became dry and my hands started to shake more vigorously. I started to play. My first task was my chromatic scale, every note that my instrument, clarinet, is capable of playing. Something that outside the audition room that would otherwise seem elementary for me, however, I was incapable of completing the whole exercise. My heart starting beating faster and faster, my mouth still dry, my lungs feel as though they are failing. I continued through my audition, each etude progressively getting worse than the previous. Finally, one judicator thanks me and I am shown out through the door by the room monitor. Standing outside the door I felt a sense of relief, but I also felt like a failure. I had spent hours preparing for this audition only to fail in a matter of seconds. When the final callbacks were posted and my name was not listed I was reminded yet again of my failure. • 7. Plumbing During The Roman Empire Essay The water toilet may be a modern invention, but plumbing has existed since 2700 BC with the civilizations of the Indus Valley designing the first plumbing system for its people. However, among the ancient civilizations that became vast civilizations, the Romans attained the use of plumbing and toilets into an art, so much that an individual from the past decade could go to Ancient Romeand understand everything about an ancient toilet easily, even if the lack of comfort might seem unsettling at first. When it comes to plumbinghistory, all roads, literally, lead to the Roman Empire. Plumbing technology, as well as, the plumbing profession flourished during the Roman Empire in such a way that was not able to be duplicated for one thousand years. The advances in aquifers, sewage, and drainage the Romans made, are still some of the same designs plumbers use today. The Romans, as we now understand, had a slight fixation with aqueducts and baths, to keep their royal family hygienectically clean, as well as appealing, and Rome s citizen s hygiene up to date; kind of hygiene freaks, they were. However, Because of this, plumbing became a profession in its own sense, and the ancient plumber became a trade that would be used, literally around the world. Indoor plumbing was not for everyone, only most wealthy could afford it, and they were charged for the use of public water, and the network that fed the water with a fee based on the size of each pipe they used (History of ... Markets And International Monetary Fund Markets Want Greece in the Eurozone The fickleness of financial markets is a constant source of both frustration and amazement, particularly in the Eurozone. Having started last week concerned about the ramifications of a resounding No vote in Greece s referendum about bailout terms imposed by the Troika, there was a strong rally in anticipation of deal eventually being signed between Greece and her creditors. Markets have, therefore, seemingly taken the view that the best known outcome is for Greece to remain in the single currency, regardless of the imperfections of any agreement. In the absence of substantial debt write downs, however, the situation facing Greece remains dire. Both the US and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, this highlights the utter hypocrisy of the current negotiations surrounding Greece: both France and Germany, in fact, conveniently ignored the rules for the fiscal convergence criteria when it suited them. Neither country was sanctioned in a major way. France could well find itself in the firing line if it fails to prevent a Greek exit from the single currency. The sustainability of the current membership of euro has, therefore, not been laid to rest. Understanding Events in China Events in China took on a new level of intensity last week as the authorities attempted to stabilise the equity market. The weakness appears to be event drive as opposed to being the result of economic malaise. In fact, recent economic data out of China suggests that recent stimulus measures appear to have had some traction. The event in question appears to be a large margin call being made by one of the main regulatory authorities. Recently, I mentioned that margin debt as a percentage of GDP was a relatively high 8%. The problem facing the authorities was sourcing where the trouble was emanating from. Margin debt can be originated from two sources: 1) licensed brokers, and 2) the so called grey market within the shadow banking system. The origination split is roughly 50/50 between the two sectors. This is where the similarities end. At licensed brokers, margin credit can only be extended for up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tang Dynasty was the most successful dynasty because it had amazing emperors and government. The dynasty started in 618 CE The second emperor, Taizong, reformed the military and expanded the empire to stretch over Tibet, Eastern Turkey, and Inner Mongolia. He used forced labor and taxes less, and allowed people to practice many different religions such as Christianity and Buddhism. However, towards his decline, he became power hungry and ignored his duties. Taizong then ordered many extravagant things to be built, such as a palace that took two million days to be built, which he took down because the climate around it was too hot and the palace was too grand. When he finally passed on, he gave the duty of being the emperor to his ninth son, Gaozong. Gaozong then became the third emperor of the dynasty. Gaozong soon married Lady Wang. He soon saw Wu Zetianin a temple and made her his concubine. If you have ever climbed to the top of a mountain, you know how exciting it can be once you have reached the top. Especially, when it is your first experience climbingthe face of any mountain and you do not know what to expect. As a child, my memory recalls the first time I was pretending to scale towering mountain sides to impress my friends and family. Two figures walking up the bridge seem to be a man and an elder, as indicated by how one is extremely hunched over and holding his back while the other is turning as if to check on the elder s condition. A playful looking boy follows them, his arms waving energetically as he trots behind them barefooted. And coming down from the bridge, there is a man adorned in a bright red cloak followed by another man, both with big hats covering their bald heads. All of the people range in age, outfits, and personas, which suggests that they all are from different places and have different destinations and purposes to get there. It can be inferred that because the Tokugawa period was a time of peace, that people were more inclined to travel due to the stability of the period. Instead of just traveling for trade and goods, people started to venture out more casually and for personal gain, exemplified by how the boy is barefooted, suggesting that he is only traveling a small distance, and the monk and disciple are likely traveling for religious means. The bridge in the foreground also indicates that the Tokugawa period was a time of stability. Built with thick wooden beams, the bridge appears sturdy enough to be able to bear the many travelers passing over it. This shows that there was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Cronon s View On Wilderness However Cronon does acknowledge the positivity associated with the idea of wilderness when he concludes his argument with an intriguing question: How can we take the positive values we associate with wilderness and bring them closer to home? I believe that part of the answer to this question comes from the rhetoric of these vary same 19th Century romantic thinkers who were able to develop true connections to the landscape around them. Developing a connection to the landscape was a primary focus of one of the 19th century writers that Cronon critiques, Henry David Thoreau. In order to understand how Thoreau developed his ideas on wilderness, it is important to understand the political and economic environment in which he lived in. At the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He concludes one of his final chapters of Walden by stating that, we need the tonic of wildness. Thoreau believes that there is a quality associated with wild landscapes that humans need in order to function as a species. Instead of writing about the overpowering experience that we can find in untouched landscapes, Thoreau rather focuses on bringing those experiences back to our home. In a journal, Thoreau writes that, It is in vain to dream of a wildness distant from ourselves. There is none such. It is in the bog in our brain and bowels, the primitive vigor of Nature in us, that inspires that dream. I shall never find in the wilds of Labrador any greater wildness than in some recess in Concord, i.e., than I import into it. (J, IX, 43). Thoreau learned about the overpowering and personal sensory experiences that you can feel in the wilderness and learned that you can bring that quality of nature back to home and still have the same experience. And I believe that this is the essential point that Thoreau brings to American culture with Walden. Thoreau wants Americans to bring this tonic of wildness to everyday life because he believes it is missing and can make their lives deliberate and fulfilled. Thoreau s overwhelming appreciating of the tonic of wildness is furthermore important based on the fact that the last passage he writes in Walden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Magazine as: a day started on March 8, 1857, in New York City by Garment workers who staged a protest against inhumane working conditions and low wages. Despite being attacked and dissolved by police officers, the movement continued. By 1908 the movement had grown to 15,000 women in the New York City march alone. It also expanded to include child labor, shorter working hours, and voting rights. The slogan for this rally became Bread and Roses with bread symbolizing economic security and roses for better living standards. • 21. Illegal Immigrants Should Not Be Trafficked However, this topic has been very controversial since some Thai authorities do not acknowledge these Burmese individuals as victims , rather they acknowledge them as individuals who have been illegally smuggled into Thailand (Gjerdingen 699). This is one of the strongest arguments that Thailand has over not having a responsibility over those being trafficked into their country, because these people actually choose to be trafficked rather than by coercion. Trafficked victims are given assistance not because they choose to be trafficked, but because they were coerced into the system which violates their rights as free people. There is some truth to this statement, because some individuals are lured into being trafficked because of their current country s poor economic situation (Gjerdingen 718). If a person moves to another country willingly and under illegal circumstances then they are no longer considered as trafficked victims but as illegal immigrants. Therefore they cannot claim the status of refugee and receive protection and rights. This is the only circumstance in which Thailandwould not have responsibility over the victims, but it is very difficult to distinguish one from the other, that Thailand might not be able to use this argument as often as it would like. Despite this controversy, it depicts that under the Morality of State Theory there is possibility that states might have an obligation to protect victims of human trafficking, if they are given the status as ... The decrease is evident in both the Putamen and the Caudate. Modafinil increases the dopamine present in the synapses as a result of the decrease in dopamineregions. There is an increase in dopamine present in the synapse and an increase in the competition of receptor binding on the postsynaptic cell. The decreased amount of radiotracer indicates the available dopamine active transporters which are occupied with Modafinil therefore, resulting in the increase of dopamine in the synapse and competition of binding to the receptors. The theory of addiction is the idea that addictive drugs have a particular nature of releasing dopamine, while psychoactive non addictive drugs do not. Alcohol and Cannabis have been demonstrated to lack certain qualities associated with inducing the release of dopamine in comparison to [C]cocaine. Figure 2 demonstrates an increase of dopamine levels in the ventral striatum which is produced by amphetamine and alcohol administration. In regards to [C]cocaine, there is a reduction in the radiotracer as a result of decreased expression of postsynaptic dopamine receptors. Alcohol dependent individuals demonstrated to have a decreased number of radiotracers, and cannabis detected almost no changes in the dopamine receptor availability. The article itself suggested that addiction is a complex mechanism that involves external factors such as environment, along with variation in drug reaction from person to person. Throughout his journey on The Road, The Man s dedication to the survival of The Boy and never faltered, and stayed constant no matter what life threw at him. The Man ended his expedition on The Roadthe same manas when he started it. At the beginning of the novel, the reader is introduced to the one defining character trait of The Man: his devotion to his son. This concept is a staple in The Man s personality, and greatly affects his actions. We see his devotion through small acts like how The Man sleeps with The Boy to keep him warm and how The Boy always drinks, eats, and bathes before The Man. The reader sees a larger example of this commitment when a bad guy threatened The Boy with a knife. The Man swiftly and ruthlessly shot the man who fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead. (McCarthy.). Rather than simply incapacitating the bad guy, The Man made sure that at least that man would never be able to hurt or threaten The Boy again. The Man is not only devoted to his son, but he is committed to his goals of heading South. Even though they made some stops along the way, the idea of getting South and to the shore never wavered from The Man s head. • 24. Life Of Being Born As A Hermaphrodite And The... Summary The article mainly discusses the life of being born as a hermaphrodite and the contradictions that medical management and medical investigators have on them. The author of the article, Anne Fausto Sterling, believes that hermaphrodites are human too and that the medical field should only worry about the hermaphrodite s health conditions rather than their physical appearance. The article states that Western culture strongly agrees that there are only two sexes, so being a hermaphrodite is none existing. They are simply unexplored by science itself (pg. 2). Sterling believes that hermaphrodites have needs as well as problems that need to be met and that they deserve to be accounted for as sexes. The five sexes that are being discussed are male, female, and intersex. Intersex is described as a catch all category for the subgroups that share both male and female characteristics. That creates the term hermaphrodite (herms), which are people who have both male and female parts. The second subgroup is called male pseudo hermaphrodites (merms) which are people who are born with mostly male parts. The third subgroup is called female pseudo hermaphrodites (ferms) who are those who mainly have female organs. The article focuses on the structure of how hermaphrodites are classified. Ferms, which are the females, are mainly female because they still develop a menstrual cycle during puberty but if they do not take any medication for their disorder, they would develop traits as a ... He knew that he would never be able to earn himself, yet it was no longer bearable to his male ego to live on his wife s income. Haimabati does not use any harsh word to describe these feats of her husband, but her sense of irritation is not always hidden, though she tried to wear a stoical calm and accept everything as God s will. Her willing compromise with her husband s abuses shows how internalised patriarchy could be: being otherwise so self sufficient she kept herself subservient to the man who, she believed, showed the generosity of remarrying her and providing her with a respectable status in society. These contradictions and complexities in Haimabati s life, which Indrani Sen has also noticed (60) point towards an intriguing paradox in feminist history. Her struggle for identity, extraordinary despite all these contradictions, shaped her personality in two ways: by resisting patriarchy and by compromising with it. However, with actual data accredited to unbiased sources, and references to qualified studies, I have confounded enough evidence to support my claim. I found that despite opinions, according to the facts, welfaredoes help alleviate poverty. According to the article Ending Welfare as We Know It: A Reform Still in Progress, in the long term, as more aid is given the poverty rate declines. Less people are stuck in poverty, and on average the number who use federal aid declines, resulting in a decline in poverty. Elizabeth Bishop Research Paper Elizabeth Bishop is a remarkable poet; she contributed to the Postmodern era experiment of the 20th century when poets played with nontraditional forms and intricate verse. She wrote exactly 101 poems exploring diverse topics such as death and alcoholism. Bishop rose to prominence after she published her first collection of poetry, North and South, and published her first novel along with eighteen new poems in Poems: North and South A Cold Spring, nine years later. Critics through the ages praise Bishop for her detailed imagery, and her influence in the postmodern poetry is noteworthy to this day. Elizabeth Bishop had a fractured childhood. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts February 11, 1911. Within eight months of her birth, her father, William Thomas Bishop, died due to inflammation of the kidneys. The trauma of his death led to Elizabeth Bishop s mother, Gertrude May Blumer, mental insanity and eventual admission to a mental asylum. Consumer voice, participation and representation programs, however, need to be viewed critically because they might demand too many services and can become divided and polarize issues, leading to increased conflict. So therefore, future challenge is to foster balanced, appropriate and effective use of consumer voice. 3. Even when team improvement efforts achieve change, the sustainability of change remains a pervasive challenge. In fact, sustainability of the teams may be problematic. • 37. Auteur Director Case Study 2. Make the case for either Hayao Miyazaki or Isao Takahata as an auteur director I choose the case of Hayao Miyazaki as an auteur director for this essay. First, what is an auteur director? The word auteur comes from french that means author and the auteur theory itself is a lens or way of looking at movies that put the director as the author of the movie. The Auteur Theory argues that a movie represents the director s passion and vision; thus, movies that are directed by an auteur director will reeks of their own signature styles which can be found in repetitive and recognisable patterns, themes, and in some cases visual (in our case is art) that will give the audience hints as who is the director of the movie. It is pretty rare to find an auteur director these days because usually to be able to be an auteur director, a director has to have a full control, from the cast, the visual and the music, of the the movie that they make. Most producers don t give directors that kind of full control. There s not a lot of auteur directors that make it big in the movie industry. Think of Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan. They are a few of the most famous auteur directors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First and foremost is the big amount of time and effort Miyazaki spend on a project. One of the most surprising thing is that he creates his own storyboards without any intervention from external parties. That means he can unleash 100% of his creativity to his works. Second, in addition to creating his own storyboard, he will then review every single animation cell that come out from the storyboard. It s not a rare occurrence that he will re do the animation cells if he deems that the artist s work is not up to his standard and the animation cell cannot properly depict his vision4. • 39. The Statement Of Principles By The International... The Statement of Principles by the International Conference on Cataloguing Principles in Paris in 1961 established the rules and concepts that create catalog standardization for libraries multinationally. Based, in part, on Samuel Lubetzky s unfinished book Code of cataloging rules; author and title entry. An unfinished draft for a new edition of cataloging rules (1960), the Paris Principles created order in a library community that was much less communal than it is today by modernizing antiquated cataloging systems and bringing consensus and consistency to the world of library information organization (Lubetzky, 1960). Communal borrowing and sharing of bibliographic data was primarily implemented to serve library catalogs, particularly of large general libraries and are designed for printed books and documents (Frost 1983). Here in lies the weakness of this system libraries have evolved. The main focus of this paper, and a primary component of the Paris Principles, is the main entry point a prime component that allowed for international cataloging consistency. With the move from the Paris Principles to AACR2 (Anglo American cataloguing rules, second edition) and the evolution toward RDA (Resource description and access), modern library catalogers are finding less and less of a need for the main entry point in a record, or at least the traditional main entry point of an author s name or a resource s title (Ridley, 1997). Using an access point as the main entry point has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Consequences and the Extinction of Animals By Climate Change The warnings about global warming have been extremely clear for a long time. We are facing a global climate crisis. It is deepening. We are entering a period of consequences (Al Gore). Global warming is a nationwide problem that is affecting people and the environment by the greenhouse gases. Global warming increases the atmospheric temperature. For instance, the solar radiation is reflected by the Earth s atmosphere. Earth s surface absorbs most of the radiation, and it warms it. Part of the invisible light traverses the air. A few are immersed and transmitted in an outright direction by pollutants molecules. The effect of global warming is an increased temperature of the earth s surface and the lower atmosphere. Dixon (2003), who asserts that Coppola sullied Fitzgerald s original intentions, reinforces this claim when he states, For example, Nick meets Gatsby during one of his parties at Gatsby s mansion in a causal, offhand fashion. But in the film, Nick goes for the first time to one of Gatsby s parties, is melodramatically accosted by a grim faced bodyguard, taken upstairs in a private elevator, and finally thrust into Gatsby s study.
