The Meaning Of Globalization And Sustainable Development
In this paper, I aim to present conceptually the meaning of globalization and sustainable
development. The purpose of this paper is to utilize the three pillars of sustainable development
(economy, society and environment) to explain the significance of sustainable development as an
approach in a globalized world. A critical literature review on the multidisciplinary literature from
the first four weeks of this unit is thoroughly studied in order to get a clear understating of the
existing issues, tensions and synergies regarding globalizationand sustainable development.
Moreover, underlying the fact that there s conflict between ecological balances and increasing
demand for economic growth (Byrne Glover, 2002), this paper also highlights the ways in which
globalization can be sustained.
Literature on Globalization and Sustainable Development
Contemporary literature reveals that globalization continues to gain widespread popularity in the
political and business world (Yeung, 2015) because of its ability to encompass the diverse set of
economic, political and cultural processes (Kelly, 1999). Despite of its popularity, the literature on
globalization remains highly ambiguous and chaotic (Jessop 1999, as cited in Yeung 2015). As
(Byrne Glover, 2002) suggest that meaning of globalization differ from scholars to scholars, to one
analyst, it may present a way to promote economic growth and cultural exchange (Bryan Farrell,
1996; Thurow, 1999, as cited in Byrne Glover,

An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story
The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen
Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of
Kristina Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by
Hopkins daughter s own drug addiction(Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like
Kristina from the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child
that was later adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is
written in a very interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature
is meant to be read, the poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page.
But with many of Hopkins works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases
on the right, a new poem is born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem.
In this case the new poem reads, my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the
monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of
helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator. The tone shifts a few times, but
throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is anger, then sadness and, finally
complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an addict of any sort, tends to be
very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a person was new to the
works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are poetry. The free
versestyle lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming poetry that
most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the poetic
nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books beforehand
because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural flow of
things (Hopkins).
There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse
poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book
comprised of

Dehumanization And Symbolism In Anthony Burgess A...
A Clockwork Orange
How does Anthony Burgess engage the audience in his text, A Clockwork Orange?
A Clockwork Orange is a dystopian set text published in 1962, set in the near future English society
where extreme violence in youth is common. The novel follows Alex, a teenage protagonist, who
narrates the audience through his violent acts. Alex is caught by the state authorities with intent to
reform him . Anthony Burgess engages the audience with his text, through many in depth
techniques and themes. Symbolism is displayed in many different situations throughout text, i.e.
milk is a reference to the immature mindset of Alex and images of Darkness, night, Lightness and
Day. Dehumanization and Law and Order are just two of the many themes ... Show more content on

The slang utilized by the author was inspired by the adolescent population and the techniques
utilized to communicate with one another. The language takes us into the world and mindset of
the adolescent where most adults will be unable to understand the majority of the actions and
thoughts of Alex. This language created by the author keeps many in the dark about Alex s
actions and criminal offenses, just as we do not understand what Alex is saying we do not
understand why a criminal breaks the law. The slang makes the reader guess what is being said
and done and in many cases is left in the dark, this draws the reader to discover and continue to
view the story for clues and hints. The adolescent themed slang keeps many viewers in the dark
about what is happening, this draws the reader to venture further into the book for clues and hints,

The Identification Of Good And Evil
The Identification of Good and Evil
A warped piece of wood must wait until it has been laid against the straightening board, steamed,
and forced into shape before it can become straight; a piece of blunt metal must wait until it has
been whetted on a grindstone before it can become sharp. In this quote, Hsun Tzu, who was a
philosopher (300 BCE), explains that the nature of humanity is evil. Therefore, there must be
directions that indicate our way to good. Throughout the life of a human being, factors contribute to
build personalities, while also creating labels in the social environment. Most of the time, humans
reflect characteristics of those individuals surrounding them. Either those characteristics are good or
evil, they construct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to know who is good and bad and therefore who we want to avoid and who we can
tolerate. This means that the interaction with some other individuals is needed to create a
personality, and therefore, determine if a human is good or evil. But how is it possible to label
an individual as good or evil , due to the others this person interacts with? Considering that people
interacts with others due to personal interests for the other individual, there is a correlation as
they share a point of view. For example, if the surroundings of an individual are constructed by
insecurity, negativity and vandalism, it will create a similar point of view that will lead to the
evil. And on the other hand, if the surrounding of an individual is positive, it will create a way to
good. Factors such as speaking, thinking, and communicating attribute to the personality of an
individual define if we are good or evil, but also ignorance or illiteracy tend to mislead people.
Another factor that is essential while people talk about human beings born good or evil is the
illiteracy and ignorance that people tend to have. There are abounding communities that live in
poverty, and as a matter of fact, these communities are more feasible to have crimes regularly. Not
only there are more crimes committed, but also several adults live in an illiterate state. This affects
the communities, since the illiterate adults have little to no interest in education for their children. In

Harlem Renaissance the Hip Hop Movement
Harlem Renaissance and the Hip hop Movement
AN OVERVIEW The Harlem Renaissance and the Hip Hop Movement are a culmination of co
related cultural art forms that have emerged out of the black experience. White people
understood black people more through their expression of art during both movements. Both
movements brought about a broad cross racial following and, ironically, in both instances
brought about a better understanding of the black experience for white America. The bridge
between Be Bop and Hip Hop was made by Quincy Jones with the Back on the Block project;
which featured such artists as Dizzie Gillespie, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Tevin
Campbell, Ice Tea, Big Daddy Kane, Al B Sure, Barry White and many... Show more content on

Rent parties allowed for the residents of Harlem and other poor ghettos to pay their rent on time
and avoid eviction. The rent party also represented the way that African Americans overcame the
oppressive surroundings of the ghetto. For example, in Rent Party Jazz , written by William
Miller, a jazz musician gives a rent party in order to raise money for a certain family in need. In
this way, rent parties not only assisted people in paying the rent, but it also helped the growth and
development of jazz as a music genre. Through jazz music and the celebratory nature of the parties,
a community was built. [3] [4] The Harlem Renaissance arguably lasted about 15 years and is said
to have ended with the onset of the Great Depression. The European American infatuation with the
Negro declined in the 1930s, in large part due to the collapse of the stock market. Also, the
depression exposed the economic vulnerability of Harlem, given that much of the real estate in
Harlem was owned by European Americans; and when the depression hit, African Americans lost
their jobs at faster rates than European Americans, caused foreclosures on mortgages, evictions
from rental properties, and a depression and alienation from the American Dream that was
expressed violently in the first modem race riot,

Nerves-Personal Narrative
I nervously laced up my ballet shoes. Along with all the other girls, we quickly walked over to
the director. We all surrounded and tried to see him. He seemed incredibly mean, the old director
had a stern look on his face, I felt like he was staring right at me. After what seemed like forever,
he finally said something. He started calling numbers. 12, 47, 34 and 88 he shouted in a deep
booming voice. I knew what this meant, he was calling tag numbers so girls would come up and
do the number we should have learned. It definitely was incredibly hard. I probably didn t have
what it takes. The first group of girls had four of them. They all looked very similar, tall, thin with
dark brown hair. I watched them, and realized they were competition.... Show more content on

Creating a shared vision A vision of the project unites professionals with different backgrounds
and agendas to a common aspiration. It helps motivate members to subordinate their individual
agendas and do what is best for the project (Gray Larson, 2006, p. 356). As Amber Briggs creates
her team, a shared vision is an essential part of creating a great anniversary celebration. After all, if
some members envision a picnic at the park while others envision a black tie, sit down dinner at the
Ritz, the road back from either extreme will be long and troublesome. An effective vision must be
challenging but realistic, and a source of inspiration to others. It must be a vision that the project
manager is passionate about and can communicate to others. The University of Maryland created
such a vision for its 150th anniversary celebration. Once agreed upon and put in writing, the vision
became part of every team meeting and the activities of every department on campus. In a sense, the
project vision was a statement of the shared goals of the coordinating committee, but it was also the
source of inspiration and continued excitement about the 150th anniversary through the months of
celebratory activities. The vision statement inspired the theme logo and each of the events

Luther King is a man who illustrated the third E beautifully.
The third E is for Essential. Imagine a world where everyone built himself into someone who was
essential to his family, neighborhood, or a group of otherwise lonely people. Martin Luther King
was a hero because he was essential to a suffering nation. He had another piece of advice that, when
heeded, will make us all essential members of any group. He said Everyone can be great because
everyone can serve. You don t have to have a college degree to serve. You don t have to have your
subject and your verb agree. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. If you do
nothing else, serve others with love and grace, and you will be an essential part of our world.

INTRODUCTION
The word yoga comes from yuj in sanskrit, which means unity or Yoke the relative meaning is to
concentrate attention or use . Asana is one of the most significant tools of yoga helping to
position the body in various positions with the total participation of the mind and self to
establish communication between our inner and outer self (Iyengar, 2001). Yoga practices
assume a critical part in the support of human systems. Yoga perfect builds up the body as well
as produces intellectual capacities. Moreover, yogis procure dominance of the involuntary
muscles of their body (A.M. Moorthy and J. David Manual Raju, 1983). In this study we try to
discover the effects of aerobic dance and yogic practice on blood lipid profiles among university
students. Yoga provides techniques (physically, mentally, intellectually and emotionally) for this
growth. These techniques are also therapeutically useful for many of the stress related problems.
Sound health is an adjusted advancement of a person s identity and enthusiastic dispositions,
empowering him to live in harmony with his condition. It is only a great adjustment to the
biological balance in our body and this can be achieved by doing yogic practices and exercises:
Yoga has a total message for mankind, has a message for the human body, has a message for the
human personality and has a message for the human soul. Swami Kuvalayananda 2 regulates the

God By Simon Blackburn God Analysis
In this text titled GOD by Simon Blackburn, the protagonist agues of beliefs and other things. I
am going to argue that there does not exist a super or godlike being who is all good, all
knowing, all powerful. (40 words) In the text titled The problem of Evil, Blackburn infers that god
is not fit to be worshipped and should not be the origin principle of right and wrong. God
supposedly has perfect morals and is infinite in power allowing him to accomplish anything he
desires. God is an all powerful, all knowing, and an all caring god. However, the idea of God
being all of those things seems to be contradictory. The existence of poverty, lust, envy, and other
vices points to inconsistencies in the idea that God is almighty. The greatness... Show more content

Being all powerful means he can execute and accomplish any given task, meaning God in truth
can fix and change anything and everything for the better. And if God is all knowing, then God
should already know the outcome and destination of every single individual in the world. Lastly,
if God is all caring then he is looking for our best interest. God wants us to live comfortably
among each other. And if we do in truth live comfortably and everyone lives comfortably among
one another then. It would enable a world where wars are extinguished, along with crime and
poverty. But that is not the case. God willingly watch us live our lives miserably in an even
more miserable world. A world where humans, animals are placed in a chain; where our very
own survival is based upon fitness. So in actuality this happens to be false, and if this is false then
god is not genuinely all caring. If god is actually all knowing, all powerful, all caring, he would do
something about this. He has the power to intervene and change things but for reasons unknown
chooses otherwise
Furthermore, god is supposedly full of wisdom, his wisdom is infinite, yet the world lacks
heavily. One way this can be viewed is with nature, how nature scarcely tends to the need of
human and animal happiness. One question that one may ask is can and is god able to prevent
evil? Does he have what it takes; maybe god is impotent (lacking power, strength). According

Role Transition
Role Development and Role Transition Paper
Introduction:
Taking the time to reflect on one s career can increase self awareness and enhance professional
development. A role development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an
individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life journey. Moreover, a
development plan is reminiscent of ones past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a
professional role development plan in place is critical for graduate study to keep track of one s
progression. The transition from a bedside nurse to a nurse educator is one that is influenced by
some internal and external factors. The primary purpose of this assignment is to reflect on my
journey from a bedside nurse to a nurse educator and the skills that are required to transition into
this new role.
Role as an Educator Researcher:
As I reflect back on my journey from being a bedside nurse to an educator, I can safely say that I
was born to be an educator. My passion for teaching and research has led me to this journey to
enhance my knowledge in obtaining a degree in nursing education. The driving force that brings
me on this journey is my desire for teaching. Hence, as I transition into this new role as a nursing

Types of Sports Fans
Professional sports has become one of the most popular industries in the world today. The media
spends billions of dollars on advertisements and teams spend millions of dollars on professional
athletes all for one reason, the fans. The fans ticket sales and merchandise purchases are what keeps
all the sport teams around and prevents professional athletes from losing their jobs. There are three
types of fans in the sports world, average fans, fanatics, and fair weather fans.

Usually they will know all or the majority of the people on their team, but will not know every
aspect about them. This type of fan is the most common and will root on and follow their favorite
team, but their life is not completely consumed by it by any means. Other priorities still come
before their sports team and will not let their favorite team consume all of their time.
The last type of fan is a fair weather fan. This is the least liked fan and these fans irritate many
people. Fair weather fans will like one team one year and switch their favorite team the next year
because of recent success by the other team. These people are not truly sports fans, and will just
root for who is popular or whoever their peers like so they can fit in. Fair weather fans root for
teams that they do not follow because of excitement revolving around a team or because there are
some big names on the team that they have actually heard of. These people will like a team, but
will not follow them very closely and may only attend one or two sporting events a year at the most.
Fair weather fans will know the names of the star people on their team, but will not know the
majority of their favorite team. Usually they will not have much merchandise with their favorite
team on it either because they switch teams so much that they do not have tome to accumulate
many goods with their team on them.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Power Analysis
Ilana Sedaka
Walter P.8
Power Shift in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
In modern day society, individuals are influenced by strong superiority figures their whose
dominance stems from internal power. Authority can often lead subordinates to rebel and seize
control; therefore ability to obtain power is exceptionally difficult. A rivalry for rigid power is seen
in the literary piece, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. The limited dominance is shifted fluidly
between Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy, and finally designated to Chief Bromden. Although
Nurse Ratched exercises initial control over her ward, Randle McMurphy attempts to disobey her
authority through defiance, and ultimately the power shifts into Chief Bromden s final control in
One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest.
In the beginning of the novel, Nurse Ratched undoubtedly dominates the control of the mental
hospital. Chief s profound description of Nurse Ratched reveals he feels threatened by her.
Chief insists that she blows up bigger and bigger, big as a tractor (5) indicating he feels
figuratively smaller than Nurse Ratched. He also details her as a stiff, calculated, and precise like
a machine running the whole facility. Chief Bromden feels so impotent under her ruling, that he
hallucinates a fog machine and keeps everyone satisfied under her power. The fog is a reoccurring
symbol in the novel that can represent Chief s helplessness: One of these days I ll quit straining
and let myself go completely, lose myself

continues to transform from the historical profile of white male student bodies, we have shifted to a
noble yet ambiguous idea of diversity. How an institution shows variety is relative, essentially there
is no real defining point other than, different. Diversification of participants in the institution s
community cannot be staged in the sense of having an equal 10% distribution of people in multiple
groups that fit into popular groups such as racial minorities, women, homosexual, and disabled
people. This does provide an element of categorizing differences but it limits institutions to marking
a check box as opposed experiencing real value. A recent New York times articles provides a
glimpse at the darker side of diversity and a disparaging opinion suggest that a small amount is
enough (Holmes, 2015) however this is a categorical farce. Every point of distinction matters,
experience matter, perspective matters, it all matters. All stakeholders including faculty, staff, and
students benefit from diversity. This must be intentional and in line with the mission and vision of
the organization. In kind, required resources include training, courses, extracurricular organizations,
and campus activities. Spellman College may seem like an unlikely candidate to have a diversity

Difference Between Edward De Vere And Shakespeare

Edward de Vere and William Shakespeare
The dispute over the true authorship of the First Folio of Shakespeare s Plays (sole authorship or a
partnership of genius like Lennon and McCartney)?
Debate over the true authorship of the First Folio of William Shakespeare s plays began from the
day of its publication (and had been running in the background for many years up until then). The
debate had been fuelled partly by an analysis of William Shakespeare s own character, background,
education and what little was known of his life and travels; also by Shakespeare s participation in
a conspiracy to steal part of the De Vere estate (at a time when the whole earldom was in question

The Issue Of Premarital Sex
Cohabitation was once considered deviant and unlawful by society, as it was considered to be a
proclamation of premarital sex. (Gault Sherman Draper, 2012). As attitudes toward cohabitation
have become progressively acceptable, it has become increasingly prevalent in today s culture.
(Gault Sherman Draper, 2012). As a result, there has been a decline in the number of couples that
are choosing marriage. Research indicates the likelihood of divorce is increased when a couple
lives together prior to marriage, increasing 166% if the wife had premarital sex and cohabited
with another man before her husband. (Alvare, 2004). There is evidence that despite the rise in
numbers of couples cohabiting, Americans desire more. [T]hey do not merely aspire to
parenthood; they do not aspire to a brief or even life long cohabiting relationship. They aspire to
marriage, and the intrinsic permanence of marriage...Pursuing marital happiness today, then, seems
to require a greater unification in law, policy, and culture of messages about sex and marriage
(Alvare, 2004).
Churches and religious organizations often approach the topic of cohabitation from a judgmental
standpoint, and immediately condemn the behavior. Cohabiting couples who reach out to the
church for guidance or seek premarital counseling need healing and restoration, not condemnation.
Consideration needs to be given to the reasons for cohabiting in order to determine the most
effective approach. Marriage Preparation and

Dictation by a student to a classmate or group is suggested for pronunciation practice as well (
Davis and Rinvolucri cited in Gibson 2008: 32). Foss and Reitzel (1988) suggest that reading
aloud is a way of cutting down communication anxiety, however it is seen as anxiety provoking by
some students (cited in Gibson, 2008: 32).Willis(2008: 59) uses choral reading in order to reduce
students stress of reading alone. The process of reading aloud together strenghten patterns.(Willis

reading aloud aid timid and unconfident students with speaking exercise for a limited time until
they feel themselves capable of speaking spontaneously (Gibson, 2008: 32). Reading aloud has an
indirect mission in writing, however it is connected to writing with intonation. Chafe (1986, cited
by Tench 1996) advocates that while wirting has no intonation, stress or pauses, both readers and
writers tend to assign these elements to whatever they are reading and writing, in this way
intonation might affect what is written, whether it is informal or formal formulaic letter (Gibson,
2008, 32). Earl Stevick (1989) interviewed seven particularly successful language learners and
found that most of them, involving himself, used reading aloud as a learning technique outside the

Peacekeeping Of The United Nations Essay
Countless generations have idealized the thought of being able to live in a society without war.
With this ultimate goal many different ways of maintaining peace have been proposed or
attempted. This is known as peacekeeping . Peacekeeping attempts have been happening throughout
history. Peacekeeping is defined as the maintenance of international peace and security by the
deployment of military forces in a particular area ( Spagnol). This means the cooperation of
different nation states to complete missions or activities that will end in the result of lasting peace.
The main contributor to international peacekeepingis the United Nations. The United nations is an
international organization where the missions and work is guided by the proposing and principles
contained in the founding charter ( United Nations website). Despite the substantial amount of
peacekeeping the united nations does there are outside forces such an non governmental
organizations also known as NGOS that are peacekeeping forces as well. In retrospect
peacekeeping is a very complex concept and throughout history has had many successes but also
an overwhelming amount of failures. These failures have causes high amounts of criticism, and
have led many people to believe that peacekeeping in general has been a failure. Despite the
failures of peacekeeping some countries have been more involved than others. one of the largest

Dual Credit American History Research Paper
Looking back at Dual Credit American history, it was the research papers that saved my grade.
Learning from my mistakes I discovered that self sufficiency was not the only attribute that I
would require for Dual Credit American History. I had made it through every class before
putting in the work by myself or in small groups. Rarely ever taking advantage of additional help
form the teacher. My work that I did on my own was sufficient, why would I need additional help?
It was with the first test on the second day of testing that I realized this would have to change.
In class we had already did our study guides for the multiple choice and reviewed what to write for
the essay topics. I was about equally prepared for them both. The second test day was essay test
day we had 45 minutes to fully answer the questions. Mrs. Baylous announced that the chosen
essay was Number 2, which was, Is Christopher Columbus a hero or a villain? along with several
other sub questions. Many in the room exclaimed their joy at this, or stated their disappointment

And of corse like any new emerging idea it s main antagonists are Christian

enforced by the fact that throughout the history of the US every president has made some
reference to God is speeches, in writings, even in their dedication to their own religion. Also the
hundreds upon thousands of writers and speakers that have written or spoken on the tragic and
monumental evens in the life of the US are pulled in to help amplify the importance and
existence of pivotal events in the Civil Religion s time line.
Robert Bellah s intentions for writing this are simple, he has found a faith that he
believes in and is defending it against those who wish to discredit it. As he states in the end of
his writing, Civil Religion has often been used, and is being used today as a cloak for petty
interests and ugly passions. It is in need as is every living faith of continual reformation of
being measured by universal standards. But it is not evident that it is incapable of growth and
new insight . Bellah s motive is to inform about what civil religion is and what it means to
follow it s faith hoping to bring others into the fold and even bring in insight and new ideals that
can help to adapt it to the modern world. Robert Bellah doesn t belittle other religions and say

The Global War on Terror
A Middle Ground Essay about the Global War on Terror Introduction Over the last several years,
the approach that is used in the War on Terror has been increasingly brought to the forefront.
This is because there has been a shift in public opinion about the impact of specific events and
the tactics to achieve a host of objectives. A good example of this can be seen with the use of
special operations forces and the shooting spree of Robert Bales. He was an American soldier
who was on his fourth tour in Afghanistan. One night after drinking heavily is when he snapped
and went on a shooting spree (killing 16 civilians). This has an adverse impact on the US
military s involvement in the region and the tactics they are using to achieve different objectives
in the War of Terror. As a result, this is illustrating how a balanced approach must be taken over
the long term. This will allow the nation to deal with the costs and resources of fighting this war
more effectively. Over the long term, these kinds of techniques will make the US more efficient
in going after terrorist organizations (by taking a middle of the road approach). ( Sergeant Robert
Bales, ) This is appropriate, in illustrating how the middle ground approach is necessary at this
time. The reason why is: the military and other resources are being increasingly strained by this
long commitment. If there was a strategy that focused on different aspects of the War on Terror,
personnel would be more effective in rooting

Communication Sabotage
Sabotage and self sabotage are things I am familiar with. I have burnt many bridges in my life,
and have often undermined my own success because of fear and other poorly developed
emotional responses to stress. The reading material on communication sabotage reinforced what
I already know: that sabotage is preventing me from reaching my highest potential. The readings
on sabotage in communication also helped me to recognize what sabotage is in the realm of
human communication and how to recognize it before it happens. For example, Reisinger
refers to six unintentional ways people sabotage their communications. One of those ways is
what Reisinger calls giving analyses. Giving analyses is jumping to conclusions about someone
based on one behavior or one incidence. I have over analyzed what someone says to me, such as
by assuming the other person thinks I am fat or dumb just by the way they looked at me or failed
to look at me. Analyzing non verbal communication is a big mistake, but so is analyzing verbal
communication. One of the ways I sabotage is by overusing sarcasm. The Power Point
presentation shows how sarcasm and put downs can be damaging to relationships. Although it may
seem obvious, many of us use sarcasm automatically because it is part of our communication
arsenal. I need to learn how to stop being so sarcastic and therefore stop sabotaging myself and
other people. As the Power Point presentation points out, sabotage is almost always subtle. It is

An analysis of Homais as an instrument of satire
In Flaubert s satiric novel, the story s apothecary is used to convey Flaubert s views of the
bourgeois. As a vehicle for Flaubert s satire, Homais is portrayed as opportunistic and self
serving, attributes that Flaubert associated with the middle class. Homais obsession with social
mobility leads him to commit despicable acts. His character and values are also detestable. He is
self serving, hypocritical, opportunistic, egotistical, and crooked. All these negative characteristics
are used by Flaubert to represent and satirize specific aspects of middle class society. More specific
issues that are addressed include Homais superficial knowledge, religious hypocrisy, and
pretentiousness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heated discussion briefly ceases when Charles enters the room, and then resumes once he has
left. Homais dispute over the use of prayer not only reaffirms his agnostic beliefs but also reflects
his open contempt for the church and its institutions. Furthermore, his apparent eagerness to win the
debate overrides his respect for the deceased, and further underscores his selfish and indifferent
values. As a representative of the bourgeois, Homais is depicted as morally offensive and shallow.
In fact, the very image of him arguing ideologies over the deceased body of Emma is offensive in
itself. Flaubert creatively uses this incident to highlight the ideological and religious decay of
French middle class society and also to ridicule the optimism and enthusiasm for scientific progress
and enlightenment which were so marked a feature of mid 19th century France (Thody 576).
Homais indifference and superficial knowledge are cleverly highlighted in the incident with
Hippolyte. In the novel, he is constantly rambling on about revolutionary medical procedures he
knows nothing about. This more often then not leads him into trouble. For example, in his
aspirations for fame and prestige Homais manipulatively convinces Hippolyte to have a surgery he
doesn t need in an attempt to fix his clubfoot. He

This is a passive vitalism because it accounts for the distinct as well as for the continuum but
without imposing any external point of view on the becoming of matter. What is really at issue is
the problem resolved, in the reality of its solution. It is not the ideal, but the reality of this ideal that
is in question (Souriau, 2015, p. 208). Passive vitalism in Souriau terms thus expresses in existence
without defining what is given in potential (virtual materiality) and what can become actual

What is being contested in the new posthuman turns to matter cited earlier is the Kantian idea that
there is a mute, inert and meaningless life upon which a human subject imposes his self originating
thought (systematizing and categorising). For education researchers, such as Snaza and Weaver,
agency is given to matter and a student is no longer a unique entity standing apart, but is now no
more than just one among the many different and mutually entangled unique organisms and things.
There are experiences happening all the time, all over the school, independent of humans. There are
always interactions between humans and nonhuman sentient beings and humans and non sentient
objects, such as computers, doors, playgrounds, hallways, utensils, trays, balls, windows, desks,
and so on (Snaza Weaver, 2014, p. 9).
The mutual co constitution of the organic and inorganic forms takes precedence while maintaining
an active and vital self constituting and self maintaining individual organism.
What such accounts of the mutually constitutive agential relationality between subjects and objects
stress is that there is a world of ontic beings (inorganic, organic, inhuman, ahuman, nonhuman) that
ought not be ontologically hierarchized. Further and by implication, they pertain to the question of
how to reconfigure (in connection with its vital milieu) that which we assume is the essential

Ghosts Are Real, By Stephen Frosh
The psychoanalysist, Stephen Frosh, argues ghosts are real, manifestations of actually existing
present tense losses...They happen because there are people who are made ghostly by the
silencing of their voices (2013: 4). I have been thinking about writing about the Westgate Bridge
collapse for many years, and though I have resisted, it has been impossible to dismiss. It is a
kind of haunting : To be haunted is more than to be affected by what others tell us directly or do
to us openly; it is to be influenced by a kind of inner voice that will not stop speaking and cannot
be excised, that keeps cropping up to trouble us and stop us going peaceably on our way. It is to
harbour a presence that we are aware of sometimes overwhelmed by, that embodies elements of
past experience and future anxiety and hope that that will not let us be. (Frosh 2013:2 3) For
Frosh psychoanalysis and haunting go together because psychoanalysis intentionally stirs up
demons (3). The same might be said of fiction writing, at least for this writer, haunted by those
things that are left over from past happenings or left out of conscious recognition (3). Among the
many arguments I had with my mother over the years, there was the one about not stirring up the

entangled state,4,5 where individual components of the cluster state must be accessible by
measuring devices. The number of entangled qubits with individual accessibility seems to be
currently limited to a moderate scale.6 8 Shifting to the continuous variable (CV)... Show more

With the time domain multiplexing, a cluster state of qumodes can be an arbitrarily long chain in
the longitudinal direction by extending the operating time of the cluster state generator. In spite of
the in principle unlimitation of the time domain multiplexing, the previous experimental
demonstration of a dual rail CV cluster state was limited in the number of qumodes,13 due to a
technical reason as follows. The optical setup is a large Mach Zehnder interferometer as depicted
in Fig. 1, including a long optical delay line for a shift of qumodes on a rail. The mathematical
derivation of the cluster state with this setup is contained in Sec. S1 of the supplementary material.
In order to operate this cluster state generator, the relative phases at all interference points must be
properly locked. For this purpose, modulated bright beams are injected into the optical paths of the
cluster state as phase probes, and their classical interference signals are exploited as error signals
for the feedback control. However, the modulated bright beams are noisy, which obscures objective
quantum level correlation signals of the cluster state. The noises were circumvented in the previous
demonstration by chopping the bright beams and by detecting the cluster

Pro Death Penalty Thesis
Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a sentence sanctioned by government,
which punishes a criminal offence by death (The World Encyclopedia, 2001). The acrimonious
debate over whether death penalty should be abolished in the United States has continued for
decades. In the year of 1608, Captain George Kendall became the first person to be executed by
death penaltyin the United States (Barbour, 1962). Hundreds of years later, the United States still
keeps the death penalty in its legislation as the last and final punishment to the crime. It is
significant to have the question: Should the United States abolish the death penalty? Because
hundreds of year passed by, our society is different from the society in 1608, which is the year when
Captain George Kendall was executed. Therefore, perhaps we should reconsider question that if the
death penalty should still exist in American legislation. This paper will present two thesis
statements on this question, one being pro death penalty, thinks that the death penalty should not be
abolished in the United State. The other one being anti death penalty, and thinks that the death
penalty should be abolished in the United States. Evaluations will be performed on the two articles
based on their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

European Colonization In Latin America
Latin America is one of the less developed when compared to different parts of the world. The
colonization era highly affected Latin American, making Latin America less developed than
other countries. Latin America used to be rich in terms of resources, containing an abundance
of resources that made these lands valuable for other countries. Among its resources, the lands of
Latin America produced gold and silver. In the era of colonization many Europeans colonizers
were able to conquer land and make use of them by taking all of the valuable resources. They
also had more advantages, making it easier to colonize in Latin America. Latin America fell
behind in levels of developments when Europeans colonized Latin America, used force against
natives to extract resources and created extractive institutions that led to high inequality in Latin
America. The colonization of Europeans in Latin America allowed them to pull . Latin America
used to be rich in resources before many European countries inv. These lands produced gold,
silver and many other valuable resources that helped European countries developed into richer
states. During the invasion of Cajamarca, a powerful Spaniard monarchy led by Pizarro
conquered Cajamarca by capturing Atuhuallpa, an Inca emperor that had thousands of soldiers
(Diamond,73). As a strategy, he was able to use Atahuallpa captivity as a way to exchange for
resources. Natives were willing to get their leader back in exchange for gold, but never realized

The Question Of Whether Michael Moore Is A Propagandist
The question of whether Michael Moore is a propagandist rather than a maker of documentaries
assumes that documentaries are never propaganda. To answer the question we need clearly
understand both propaganda and clarify what documentary really is.
The Oxford Dictionary of English defines propaganda as information, especially of a biased or
misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view. (Propaganda, 2017)
The Oscar Academy Awards rules state that An eligible documentary filmis defined as a theatrically

Should he have held at least one meeting since taking office to discuss the threat of terrorism with
his head of counter terrorism? Or maybe Mr. Bush was wondering why he had cut terrorism
funding from the FBI.
Bush appears to be extremely uncomfortable and perhaps frightened. He could be trying to guess
the number of lives lost and gauge how best to react at the moment. Alternatively he could be
dreaming of being the illustrator for My Pet Goat instead of the being the President reading that
book to school children while a major tragedy is unfolding... Probably not, but it s as accurate as
Moore s guess... Imaginary things that could go through a presidents head during a national
emergency. Those words are not based in fact, just guesswork.
Moore continues hypothesising Bush s internal monologue, Or perhaps he just should have read the
security briefing that was given to him on August 6, 2001, that said that Osama bin Laden was
planning to attack America by hijacking airplanes.
The report Moore is talking about in that clip is Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US (The
National Security Archive, 2017) that states We have not been able to corroborate some of the more
sensational threat reporting, such as that from a [CENSORED] service in 1998 saying that Bin
Laden wanted to hijack a US aircraft... Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates
patterns of suspicious activity in this country

These concepts laid the foundation for sustainable development, a philosophy that now permeates
conservation, development, and even corporate strategies.
1990S
The 1990s saw more widespread acceptance of the global links between the environment, human
activities and human welfare as well as the value of biodiversity and the emerging threat of climate
change.
These issues were explicitly incorporated in WWF s 1990 Mission Statement, and have framed the
organization s on the ground and policy work ever since. Continuing the move from country based
projects to a targeted and more unified approach, WWF developed a global conservation strategy
that focused efforts on the world s most critical ecoregions and in six key areas species, forest,
marine and freshwater conservation, climate change and toxic chemicals. In addition to its long
standing relationships with traditional conservation partners, WWF also began to more actively
engage with business and other new partners to promote sustainable resource management.
2000S
The turn of the century saw WWF vastly upscale its ambition, aiming for transformational changes
that lead to lasting conservation, sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles.
With twin goals of conserving biodiversity and reducing humanity s Ecological Footprint, the
organization is drawing on the combined strength and expertise of its global network to create
innovative partnerships that integrate

Puerto Rico Research Paper
The island of Puerto Rico is located in the Greater Antilles in the waters of the Caribbean Sea. The
northern and eastern shore of the island faces the Atlantic Ocean, while the southern and western
coast faces the Caribbean Sea. The closest islands to Puerto Rico are, the Dominican Republic, and
the Virgin Islands.
Reason for Choosing Puerto Rico
I picked the island of Puerto Rico, because I spent all my childhood in this island. I lived in
Guanica; however, I still do not fully know all the history of this beautiful island. Every time I visit
the island, I learn something new. Puerto Rico is unique all around from the cuisine, music, history,
rum, beaches, nature, sports, and of course the people. I found that the island of Puerto ... Show

How The Internet Has Become A Major Vehicle For Social...
Introduction
The Internet has become a major vehicle for social encounters in the last two decades. Through the
Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in
the past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more
communication via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much
debate on how it relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses
on how the Internet is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online
in hopes of forming a romantic relationship.
Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it
connects you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997)
was significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic
relationships lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new
regardless of gender, and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people.
Merge of the Internet and Online Dating
Online dating, or communicating with individuals via the Internet with the purpose of finding
romantic partners, constitutes a new realm in which searching for romantic partners via Internet
dating sites has become a common strategy for mate selection and thus has changed the dating
process. According to the research of Sautter, Tippett,

Proof Of Eviction
If incarceration had come to define the lives of men from impoverished black neighborhoods,
eviction was shaping the lives of women. Poor black men were locked up. Poor black women were
locked out .2 Stability and housing, while considered to be separate aspects of one s life, are
deeply intertwined. Racehas invariably played a role in financial stability and obtaining housing as it
has impacted the distribution of housing through stringent eligibility requirements for tenancy and
preferential selection on part of shelter seekers.
Housing security is a significant predictor of employment security. In this causality dilemma, proof
of sufficient and verifiable income is required to obtain housing, but those who have experienced

Ironically Pam, the mother of two biracial daughters, too, would have rather lived in a trailer park

commentary stems from a common misconception that many Americans have regarding welfare
distribution. While the highest percentage of welfare recipients (welfare includes SNAP, housing

A Study Of A Patient Who Experienced Chest Pain Essay
Introduction 100 WORDS A systematized and precise assessment is a vital tool for a clinician
to identify not only patients who are in unpredictable life threatening situations but also to
recognize the initial signs of patient s deterioration. (Tough, 2004) In order to accomplish a
systematic and detailed assessment, a sound clinical judgment and a strong, clinical based
decision making by the clinician should be done. (Croskerry, 2009) This will aid in formulating
a pertinent diagnosis, which is the key in devising a safe and effective treatment plan for the
patient. (Croskerry, 2009) This essay is a case study of a patient who experienced chest pain.
The goal of this paper is to draw up a clinical diagnosis that would be based on a complete
medical history, a systematic physical assessment, and the utilization of three significant
diagnostic tests to rule out other diagnoses. Word Count 141 Presenting Complaint / General

Finance Major Essay
The definition of finance is rather complex but Merriam Webster seems to provide the most
comprehensive explanation, stating, the management of revenues; the conduct or transaction of
money matters generally, especially those affecting the public, as in the fields of banking and
investment (Merriam Webster). The management of revenues is essentially the core of what
separates the jobs of finance majors, compared to other business related majors such as accounting
and economics. While accountants identify where the money comes from, the finance people
identify how to best use that money. While economic majors study how to grow the entire
economy of a country, finance majors study how to value a company. The reason behind my
decision to pursue a major in finance is because I want to study how to manage money in a
company and the role companies play in affecting the banking system. Also, I am convinced that
majoring in finance is one of the most effective and efficient ways in becoming a successful
entrepreneur. As a finance major, I can only study; as a successful entrepreneur, I will be equipped
with the resources to improve the lives of hundreds if not thousands of people. According to
Techtarget.com, Silicon Valley
continues to be one of the country s leading regions for high tech
innovation and development, accounting for about one third of all venture capital investment in the
United States (Rouse). Based on this statement, readers would think that the residents

  • 2. The Meaning Of Globalization And Sustainable Development In this paper, I aim to present conceptually the meaning of globalization and sustainable development. The purpose of this paper is to utilize the three pillars of sustainable development (economy, society and environment) to explain the significance of sustainable development as an approach in a globalized world. A critical literature review on the multidisciplinary literature from the first four weeks of this unit is thoroughly studied in order to get a clear understating of the existing issues, tensions and synergies regarding globalizationand sustainable development. Moreover, underlying the fact that there s conflict between ecological balances and increasing demand for economic growth (Byrne Glover, 2002), this paper also highlights the ways in which globalization can be sustained. Literature on Globalization and Sustainable Development Contemporary literature reveals that globalization continues to gain widespread popularity in the political and business world (Yeung, 2015) because of its ability to encompass the diverse set of economic, political and cultural processes (Kelly, 1999). Despite of its popularity, the literature on globalization remains highly ambiguous and chaotic (Jessop 1999, as cited in Yeung 2015). As (Byrne Glover, 2002) suggest that meaning of globalization differ from scholars to scholars, to one analyst, it may present a way to promote economic growth and cultural exchange (Bryan Farrell, 1996; Thurow, 1999, as cited in Byrne Glover, ... • 3. An Analysis Of Ellen Hopkins s You Know My Story The poem, You Know My Story , is an excerpt from a larger poem, and novel, called Glass by Ellen Hopkins. The book is the second book in a series of three describing the rollercoaster life of Kristina Georgia Snow while on drugs. The free verse poetry books were very largely inspired by Hopkins daughter s own drug addiction(Goodreads). Her daughter, Cristal was very much like Kristina from the story. She became addicted to the same drug as Kristina and even had a child that was later adopted by Hopkins, just like the character from the story (Hopkins). The poem is written in a very interesting way. If someone were to read the poem straight across as literature is meant to be read, the poem would be very descriptive and tell a short story on just one page. But with many of Hopkins works, if the poem is read just using the stand alone words or phrases on the right, a new poem is born. This new poem is a much creepier summary of the larger poem. In this case the new poem reads, my dive into insanity, no longer perfect, Kristina became the monster (Hopkins). The entire poem has a very dark mood. It has very deep traces of helplessness and a misplaced self identity for the narrator. The tone shifts a few times, but throughout it shares the same darkness of the mood. First there is anger, then sadness and, finally complete vulnerability. Any piece of literature that talks about an addict of any sort, tends to be very dark and depressing. This poem is no exception to that idea. If a person was new to the works of Ellen Hopkins, they might not be aware of the fact that her books are poetry. The free versestyle lends itself well to the writing of a novel, but it is not the type of rhyming poetry that most people are used to. It seems more like a book than a poem at first, yet if reread the poetic nature is made more noticeable. Hopkins has stated that she doesn t plan out her books beforehand because her poetry has to flow naturally and too much planning messes with the natural flow of things (Hopkins). There is no discernable rhythm or rhyme scheme to this poem. That holds true for most free verse poems. As previously stated, this type of poetry tends to work well when writing an entire book comprised of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dehumanization And Symbolism In Anthony Burgess A... A Clockwork Orange How does Anthony Burgess engage the audience in his text, A Clockwork Orange? A Clockwork Orange is a dystopian set text published in 1962, set in the near future English society where extreme violence in youth is common. The novel follows Alex, a teenage protagonist, who narrates the audience through his violent acts. Alex is caught by the state authorities with intent to reform him . Anthony Burgess engages the audience with his text, through many in depth techniques and themes. Symbolism is displayed in many different situations throughout text, i.e. milk is a reference to the immature mindset of Alex and images of Darkness, night, Lightness and Day. • 5. The Identification Of Good And Evil The Identification of Good and Evil A warped piece of wood must wait until it has been laid against the straightening board, steamed, and forced into shape before it can become straight; a piece of blunt metal must wait until it has been whetted on a grindstone before it can become sharp. In this quote, Hsun Tzu, who was a philosopher (300 BCE), explains that the nature of humanity is evil. Therefore, there must be directions that indicate our way to good. Throughout the life of a human being, factors contribute to build personalities, while also creating labels in the social environment. Most of the time, humans reflect characteristics of those individuals surrounding them. Either those characteristics are good or evil, they construct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to know who is good and bad and therefore who we want to avoid and who we can tolerate. This means that the interaction with some other individuals is needed to create a personality, and therefore, determine if a human is good or evil. But how is it possible to label an individual as good or evil , due to the others this person interacts with? Considering that people interacts with others due to personal interests for the other individual, there is a correlation as they share a point of view. For example, if the surroundings of an individual are constructed by insecurity, negativity and vandalism, it will create a similar point of view that will lead to the evil. And on the other hand, if the surrounding of an individual is positive, it will create a way to good. Factors such as speaking, thinking, and communicating attribute to the personality of an individual define if we are good or evil, but also ignorance or illiteracy tend to mislead people. Another factor that is essential while people talk about human beings born good or evil is the illiteracy and ignorance that people tend to have. There are abounding communities that live in poverty, and as a matter of fact, these communities are more feasible to have crimes regularly. Not only there are more crimes committed, but also several adults live in an illiterate state. This affects the communities, since the illiterate adults have little to no interest in education for their children. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Harlem Renaissance the Hip Hop Movement Harlem Renaissance and the Hip hop Movement AN OVERVIEW The Harlem Renaissance and the Hip Hop Movement are a culmination of co related cultural art forms that have emerged out of the black experience. White people understood black people more through their expression of art during both movements. Both movements brought about a broad cross racial following and, ironically, in both instances brought about a better understanding of the black experience for white America. The bridge between Be Bop and Hip Hop was made by Quincy Jones with the Back on the Block project; which featured such artists as Dizzie Gillespie, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Tevin Campbell, Ice Tea, Big Daddy Kane, Al B Sure, Barry White and many... The rent party also represented the way that African Americans overcame the oppressive surroundings of the ghetto. For example, in Rent Party Jazz , written by William Miller, a jazz musician gives a rent party in order to raise money for a certain family in need. In this way, rent parties not only assisted people in paying the rent, but it also helped the growth and development of jazz as a music genre. Through jazz music and the celebratory nature of the parties, a community was built. [3] [4] The Harlem Renaissance arguably lasted about 15 years and is said to have ended with the onset of the Great Depression. The European American infatuation with the Negro declined in the 1930s, in large part due to the collapse of the stock market. Also, the depression exposed the economic vulnerability of Harlem, given that much of the real estate in Harlem was owned by European Americans; and when the depression hit, African Americans lost their jobs at faster rates than European Americans, caused foreclosures on mortgages, evictions from rental properties, and a depression and alienation from the American Dream that was expressed violently in the first modem race riot, ... I am going to argue that there does not exist a super or godlike being who is all good, all knowing, all powerful. (40 words) In the text titled The problem of Evil, Blackburn infers that god is not fit to be worshipped and should not be the origin principle of right and wrong. God supposedly has perfect morals and is infinite in power allowing him to accomplish anything he desires. God is an all powerful, all knowing, and an all caring god. However, the idea of God being all of those things seems to be contradictory. The existence of poverty, lust, envy, and other vices points to inconsistencies in the idea that God is almighty. The greatness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being all powerful means he can execute and accomplish any given task, meaning God in truth can fix and change anything and everything for the better. And if God is all knowing, then God should already know the outcome and destination of every single individual in the world. Lastly, if God is all caring then he is looking for our best interest. God wants us to live comfortably among each other. And if we do in truth live comfortably and everyone lives comfortably among one another then. It would enable a world where wars are extinguished, along with crime and poverty. But that is not the case. God willingly watch us live our lives miserably in an even more miserable world. A world where humans, animals are placed in a chain; where our very own survival is based upon fitness. So in actuality this happens to be false, and if this is false then god is not genuinely all caring. If god is actually all knowing, all powerful, all caring, he would do something about this. He has the power to intervene and change things but for reasons unknown chooses otherwise Furthermore, god is supposedly full of wisdom, his wisdom is infinite, yet the world lacks heavily. One way this can be viewed is with nature, how nature scarcely tends to the need of human and animal happiness. One question that one may ask is can and is god able to prevent evil? • 18. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Power Analysis Ilana Sedaka Walter P.8 Power Shift in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest In modern day society, individuals are influenced by strong superiority figures their whose dominance stems from internal power. Authority can often lead subordinates to rebel and seize control; therefore ability to obtain power is exceptionally difficult. A rivalry for rigid power is seen in the literary piece, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. The limited dominance is shifted fluidly between Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy, and finally designated to Chief Bromden. Although Nurse Ratched exercises initial control over her ward, Randle McMurphy attempts to disobey her authority through defiance, and ultimately the power shifts into Chief Bromden s final control in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. In the beginning of the novel, Nurse Ratched undoubtedly dominates the control of the mental hospital. Chief s profound description of Nurse Ratched reveals he feels threatened by her. Chief insists that she blows up bigger and bigger, big as a tractor (5) indicating he feels figuratively smaller than Nurse Ratched. He also details her as a stiff, calculated, and precise like a machine running the whole facility. Chief Bromden feels so impotent under her ruling, that he hallucinates a fog machine and keeps everyone satisfied under her power. The fog is a reoccurring symbol in the novel that can represent Chief s helplessness: One of these days I ll quit straining and let myself go completely, lose myself ... • 19. The Progression Of Higher Education The progression of higher education has lead us past classroom education in the strictest sense to ideas of the overall student experience and globalization. As the demand for access to education continues to transform from the historical profile of white male student bodies, we have shifted to a noble yet ambiguous idea of diversity. How an institution shows variety is relative, essentially there is no real defining point other than, different. Diversification of participants in the institution s community cannot be staged in the sense of having an equal 10% distribution of people in multiple groups that fit into popular groups such as racial minorities, women, homosexual, and disabled people. This does provide an element of categorizing differences but it limits institutions to marking a check box as opposed experiencing real value. A recent New York times articles provides a glimpse at the darker side of diversity and a disparaging opinion suggest that a small amount is enough (Holmes, 2015) however this is a categorical farce. Every point of distinction matters, experience matter, perspective matters, it all matters. All stakeholders including faculty, staff, and students benefit from diversity. This must be intentional and in line with the mission and vision of the organization. In kind, required resources include training, courses, extracurricular organizations, and campus activities. As attitudes toward cohabitation have become progressively acceptable, it has become increasingly prevalent in today s culture. (Gault Sherman Draper, 2012). As a result, there has been a decline in the number of couples that are choosing marriage. Research indicates the likelihood of divorce is increased when a couple lives together prior to marriage, increasing 166% if the wife had premarital sex and cohabited with another man before her husband. (Alvare, 2004). There is evidence that despite the rise in numbers of couples cohabiting, Americans desire more. They aspire to marriage, and the intrinsic permanence of marriage...Pursuing marital happiness today, then, seems to require a greater unification in law, policy, and culture of messages about sex and marriage (Alvare, 2004). Churches and religious organizations often approach the topic of cohabitation from a judgmental standpoint, and immediately condemn the behavior. Cohabiting couples who reach out to the church for guidance or seek premarital counseling need healing and restoration, not condemnation. • 28. The Global War on Terror A Middle Ground Essay about the Global War on Terror Introduction Over the last several years, the approach that is used in the War on Terror has been increasingly brought to the forefront. This is because there has been a shift in public opinion about the impact of specific events and the tactics to achieve a host of objectives. A good example of this can be seen with the use of special operations forces and the shooting spree of Robert Bales. He was an American soldier who was on his fourth tour in Afghanistan. One night after drinking heavily is when he snapped and went on a shooting spree (killing 16 civilians). This has an adverse impact on the US military s involvement in the region and the tactics they are using to achieve different objectives in the War of Terror. As a result, this is illustrating how a balanced approach must be taken over the long term. This will allow the nation to deal with the costs and resources of fighting this war more effectively. Over the long term, these kinds of techniques will make the US more efficient in going after terrorist organizations (by taking a middle of the road approach). ( Sergeant Robert Bales, ) This is appropriate, in illustrating how the middle ground approach is necessary at this time. The reason why is: the military and other resources are being increasingly strained by this long commitment. • 30. Communication Sabotage Sabotage and self sabotage are things I am familiar with. I have burnt many bridges in my life, and have often undermined my own success because of fear and other poorly developed emotional responses to stress. The reading material on communication sabotage reinforced what I already know: that sabotage is preventing me from reaching my highest potential. The readings on sabotage in communication also helped me to recognize what sabotage is in the realm of human communication and how to recognize it before it happens. For example, Reisinger refers to six unintentional ways people sabotage their communications. One of those ways is what Reisinger calls giving analyses. Giving analyses is jumping to conclusions about someone based on one behavior or one incidence. I have over analyzed what someone says to me, such as by assuming the other person thinks I am fat or dumb just by the way they looked at me or failed to look at me. Analyzing non verbal communication is a big mistake, but so is analyzing verbal communication. One of the ways I sabotage is by overusing sarcasm. The Power Point presentation shows how sarcasm and put downs can be damaging to relationships. Although it may seem obvious, many of us use sarcasm automatically because it is part of our communication arsenal. I need to learn how to stop being so sarcastic and therefore stop sabotaging myself and other people. As the Power Point presentation points out, sabotage is almost always subtle. It is about ... The heated discussion briefly ceases when Charles enters the room, and then resumes once he has left. Homais dispute over the use of prayer not only reaffirms his agnostic beliefs but also reflects his open contempt for the church and its institutions. As a representative of the bourgeois, Homais is depicted as morally offensive and shallow. In fact, the very image of him arguing ideologies over the deceased body of Emma is offensive in itself. Flaubert creatively uses this incident to highlight the ideological and religious decay of French middle class society and also to ridicule the optimism and enthusiasm for scientific progress and enlightenment which were so marked a feature of mid 19th century France (Thody 576). Homais indifference and superficial knowledge are cleverly highlighted in the incident with Hippolyte. There are experiences happening all the time, all over the school, independent of humans. There are always interactions between humans and nonhuman sentient beings and humans and non sentient objects, such as computers, doors, playgrounds, hallways, utensils, trays, balls, windows, desks, and so on (Snaza Weaver, 2014, p. 9). When Kozol discovers Cliffie s heroes are Michael Jackson and Oprah he inquires, Have you read about George Washington? Cliffie answers, I don t even know the man (Kozol 8). This quote suggests the lack of legitimate education that these children are receiving in school. The teachers in the district are not always certified and the classroom environment is less than desirable. Kozol visited an area where, only 15 teachers in a faculty of 54 were certified. (Kozol 155). The relation between most of the inner city kids and their teachers results in a vicious cycle. The kids can be unruly and disruptive, therefore the teacher, often times may feel hesitant to put forward effort into his/her teaching. Due to the lack of teaching and discipline, the students may continue to be ignorant and incompliant with authority. With the continuation of this process and the lack of an authoritative figure at home or at school, some children may grow up and become involved in crime related activities. In addition to Kozol s educational related complaints, he stresses the healthcare problems that plague the downtrodden people as well. On the book jacket, Kozol states that: One fourth of the child bearing women in the neighborhoods where these children live test positive for HIV. The hospitals in the area are also substandard, ... Plp Leadership Skills PLP 3: Leadership Traits and Skills Test Results Leadership Instruments can be classified as a tool that helps an individual assess his or her own skills in context of leadership. The results of the selected instruments can be further reflected on how an individual may apply it for personal and/or career growth. Personally, I selected the two instrument provided, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire and the Skills Inventory. After completion, I found that the Skills Inventory provided better insight on my strengths and weakness in leadership. My personal and career goals are very similar in regards to traits, therefore when discussing the two they will be interchangeable. My results showed that my human skills (which scored at high range) is the majority of my leadership skills and conceptual skills (which scored at moderate range) need improvement. My strengths and weaknesses can be further reflected on in regards to my hopeful future in Human Resources. Strengths As many know, Human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most people that were surveyed at Rancho Mirage High School said that we shouldn t wear uniforms. This is because uniforms are expensive, even though they say they are free but they actually take the money from your budget and also it depends how many kids you have at the house. Another reason that you should not wear uniforms is that people get to loose the ability to express themselves through clothing. Measurement Based Quantum Computation ( Mbqc ) Quantum entanglement, which is often counterintuitive and was originally questioned by Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen (EPR),1 is now recognized as a versatile resource for quantum information protocols.2,3 In order to meet various requirements for various applications, an important technological development is to increase the number of available entangled qubits. In particular, measurement based quantum computation (MBQC) requires the cluster type of a large scale entangled state,4,5 where individual components of the cluster state must be accessible by measuring devices. The number of entangled qubits with individual accessibility seems to be currently limited to a moderate scale.6 8 Shifting to the continuous variable (CV)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the time domain multiplexing, a cluster state of qumodes can be an arbitrarily long chain in the longitudinal direction by extending the operating time of the cluster state generator. In spite of the in principle unlimitation of the time domain multiplexing, the previous experimental demonstration of a dual rail CV cluster state was limited in the number of qumodes,13 due to a technical reason as follows. The optical setup is a large Mach Zehnder interferometer as depicted in Fig. 1, including a long optical delay line for a shift of qumodes on a rail. The mathematical derivation of the cluster state with this setup is contained in Sec. S1 of the supplementary material. In order to operate this cluster state generator, the relative phases at all interference points must be properly locked. For this purpose, modulated bright beams are injected into the optical paths of the cluster state as phase probes, and their classical interference signals are exploited as error signals for the feedback control. However, the modulated bright beams are noisy, which obscures objective quantum level correlation signals of the cluster state. The noises were circumvented in the previous demonstration by chopping the bright beams and by detecting the cluster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Pro Death Penalty Thesis Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a sentence sanctioned by government, which punishes a criminal offence by death (The World Encyclopedia, 2001). The acrimonious debate over whether death penalty should be abolished in the United States has continued for decades. In the year of 1608, Captain George Kendall became the first person to be executed by death penaltyin the United States (Barbour, 1962). Hundreds of years later, the United States still keeps the death penalty in its legislation as the last and final punishment to the crime. It is significant to have the question: Should the United States abolish the death penalty? Because hundreds of year passed by, our society is different from the society in 1608, which is the year when Captain George Kendall was executed. Therefore, perhaps we should reconsider question that if the death penalty should still exist in American legislation. This paper will present two thesis statements on this question, one being pro death penalty, thinks that the death penalty should not be abolished in the United State. The other one being anti death penalty, and thinks that the death penalty should be abolished in the United States. Evaluations will be performed on the two articles based on their... • 45. How The Internet Has Become A Major Vehicle For Social... Introduction The Internet has become a major vehicle for social encounters in the last two decades. Through the Internet, people can interact over greater distances in a shorter period and at less expense than in the past. Since the evolution of the Internet, there is less face to face interaction and more communication via text messages, emails, and online chatting. This social stigma is up for much debate on how it relates to the progression in romantic relationships. This literature review focuses on how the Internet is utilized as a supportive method of courting used by individuals to meet online in hopes of forming a romantic relationship. Counterarguments suggest that online communication expands social interaction because it connects you to a plethora of people at a fast rate. The research of Cooper and Sportolari (1997) was significantly useful because according to experts, the use of the Internet in romantic relationships lowers the pressure of physical attributes, more freedom to meet someone new regardless of gender, and allows you to develop healthy relationships with a variety of people. Merge of the Internet and Online Dating Online dating, or communicating with individuals via the Internet with the purpose of finding romantic partners, constitutes a new realm in which searching for romantic partners via Internet dating sites has become a common strategy for mate selection and thus has changed the dating process. Finance Major Essay The definition of finance is rather complex but Merriam Webster seems to provide the most comprehensive explanation, stating, the management of revenues; the conduct or transaction of money matters generally, especially those affecting the public, as in the fields of banking and investment (Merriam Webster). The management of revenues is essentially the core of what separates the jobs of finance majors, compared to other business related majors such as accounting and economics. While accountants identify where the money comes from, the finance people identify how to best use that money. While economic majors study how to grow the entire economy of a country, finance majors study how to value a company. The reason behind my decision to pursue a major in finance is because I want to study how to manage money in a company and the role companies play in affecting the banking system.
