Patient Privacy Laws
1. State laws provide a patient with access to his or her Health Information. Insurance companies
and pharmaceutical companies may have access to a patient s health information since this
authorization was signed and dated by the patient. I would release this information to Aetna. 2.
Health Information must be maintained in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Healthcare
organizations must be very careful in how they use this information on patients. Patient privacy

The Pros And Cons Of The Syrian Civil War
The Syrian Civil War continues to be a major issue in the world today. Though it began as an issue
over the resignation of President Bashar Al Assad against the government and Syrians, the war has
greatly escalated. It currently involves over 50 different groups, all supporting either the
government or the Syrian people, but possessing a slightly different goal. All of this violence poses
a threat to individual nations all through the world, focusing on the immigration of refugees into
such nations and the impact of such a movement upon that nation. Furthermore, all of this violence
has violated the human rights of millions of people, with rape , torture, and harsh execution style
killings occurring on a daily basis. Millions of people caught... Show more content on

Similar to all problems, only if everyone works together can a peaceful end be reached. With an
alliance between all of the nations, the threat that the Syrian Civil War poses would decrease. There
would be a more controlled environment for refugees from the war and a more emphasized effort
towards humanitarian support. The Republic of Finland would like to emphasize the need for a
supported humanitarian effort. One of the major issues attributed to the Syrian Civil War is the
deprivation of human rights. There is constant torture and execution of innocent lives. Rape is
actually used as a weapon of war. With non profit organizations such as White Helmets and Red
Cross, help can be sent to people trapped inside war zones and to those refugees who lack the
necessities to get proper care. In fact, a meeting in early 2017 of all of the UN leaders will be
held in Finland. Furthermore, an organization known as Suomi Syyria Yhteisö, or SSY, is a
Finnish based charity already dedicated to providing humanitarian relief in Syria. This meeting will
help determine a plan to help with the the war. With the collaborated effort of all of the countries
around the world and such organizations, the devastations conditions of war can be

The Historical Landmarks Of Jerusalem
While the present day Jerusalem flourishes with the pilgrims attracted by the city s religious
significance and the tourists intrigued by its historical landmarks, it was merely a minor city state
in the ancient times. However, rather than a miracle that had occurred overnight, the social and
economic status of Jerusalemwas obtained through a process of evolution, the early parts of which
were recorded in the Hebrew Bible, which is a collection of narratives based on genuine historical
events while centering its stories on divine power. In the case of Jerusalem, the Bible provides
intricate accounts of religiously significant events that were in sync with the stages of Jerusalem s
development, starting with King Davids choice to designate the city as the capital of the United
Monarchy, and culminating around the time of Solomon s construction of the First Temple, as
well as the fall of the city to the Babylonians. Through these references to the Bible, which
centralize early events of the Israelite religious history in the city of Jerusalem, it is unequivocal
that not only has Jerusalem affected the religious society of the Israelites, but the evolution of the
city into a political and spiritual capital is also related to the religious events that took place in the
city. To examine the connection between religion and space, Thomas Tweed introduces a model in
his short essay Space , which defines the characteristics of religious spaces like Jerusalem
interrelated,

The Book Of Genesis
The book of Genesis which directly translates to origin narrates the story of creation. In general,
Genesis 1 3 is an account of how God created the world, human beings, plants and animals, and
the commitment of the first sin. Unlike Malakas and Maganda who sprang from the kawayan at
the same time, a hierarchy of genders can be found in Genesis. The second chapter of the book
tells us that man was created first and was given the primary role to take care of Gods creation
associated with a sense of authority. The woman was created after and out of man himself to fulfill
the role of being the man s helper or companion and thus it can be inferred in this account alone that
the woman is subjected to a secondary and subordinate position.
However, on a deeper level of understanding, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the Creation, on the other hand, is entitled to bring holiness towards its Creator that
highlights the importance of Sabbath on the seventh day when God decided to rest. Human beings
embody the relationship of God and Creation through the act of stewardship. The whole
relationship among God, Human Beings, and the Creation exemplify the central idea of Genesis
which is Shalom . Shalom is defined as peace in the Old Testament but it also denotes wholeness or
harmony . Every part of God s creation is distinct but interconnected, working and existing in
accordance with God s intention. Shalom summarizes the whole picture depicted in the first two
chapters of Genesis, describing the connections among God, human beings, and the rest of His
creation; the role of humans is to preserve Shalom that transcends beyond stewardship.

Lydia Maria Child
Ranked among some of the most influential nineteenth century authors, including Charles
Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, Ida B, and Charles Darwin, Lydia Child was one of the first American
women to make a living off of her writing. People may know her through her books, but in
modern times, the song Over the River and Through the Woods is a well known piece of
literature by Child. Lydia Child wrote the poem the song was based on about her trips to her
grandmother s house as a child. This amazing writer, Lydia Maria Child, was born into an
American abolitionist family on February 11, 1802. Abolition is the action of getting rid of an old
system or norm. An abolitionist is someone who works toward getting rid of the old system. In
Maria Child s case,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1833, Child released a new book, An Appeal in Favor of That Class of Americans Called
Africans. This book was based around the history and life of slaves. She also calls for the
immediate emancipation of all slaves without compensation to slaveholders. (History of
American Women) It exploited the fact both the south and north are responsible for the effects
and existence of slavery. This book was not the hit it was meant to be. As one of the first anti
slavery publication printed in book form, but Child did make more despite what happened at
first. As her sales plummeted, her friends did as well. By daring to condemn slavery at a time
when abolition was still highly unpopular even in the North, Child became the object of national
hatred. (History of American Women) The website also states that most of her friends in Boston
were outraged by the way Child had blamed the north as well as the south for the prejudice
towards blacks and the segregation that existed. Lydia Maria Child continued with her anti slavery
books and standing up for what was right, even though she lost her reputation and friends. Maria
Child displayed perseverance when she continued to write the loathed books. Even though it
seemed she lost everything in just one night, she still managed to say, I want to shoot the accursed
institution from all quarters of the globe. I think, from this time till I die, I shall stop firing only

Examples Of Chris Mccandless Foolishness
Foolishness of Chris McCandless
If this adventure proves fatal and you do not hear from me again, I want you to know you re a

he graduated high in his class and went to law school in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating
college, he wanted to try his luck in the wild. So he changed his name to Alex Supertramp and
headed out. There is a debate amongst readers, some say he was a hero; others believe he was a
coward. Personally, I believe, Chris McCandless was a coward due to the way he dropped
everything and headed to Alaska without telling anyone or preparing himself. As it turns out he was

demonstrated in chapter 16 when he stumbles across the abandoned bus in the wilderness. This
was cowardly because he could have just been sleeping in a sleeping bag the entire time, which
would not have been safe for him. He most likely would have died earlier or even been forced to
leave earlier had he never found the bus. If he had never found the bus his story would have
never been widely known and it would have never have been a big hit. This again goes back to

Settlers In New England
The settlers who arrived in New England were Puritans, people who wanted to worship God in a
very simple way. They escaped from England to be able to worship God as they liked, and to
recreate a new pious England, which could be considered as a New Jerusalem or as a City upon a
Hill . Consequently, their government reflected these ideas.
New England was governed in a way that promoted the glory of God and the settlers own common
good. The state was divided into self governing towns: groups of settlers received lands that were
then subdivided, residents being accorded lots in the central area and land outside for farming.
Puritans did not believe in equality as two humans are not interchangeable, in that sense no two
humans are equal. They

something that people achieve a particular exceptional skills that others cannot. Today s world
some people believe that talent is given by God when a child comes to this world, and all you
need to succeed at anything is talent. It is clear that everyone is gifted with a talent by God but
the level of it differs. Some other, on the other hand, claim that any person can be trained to be

(Xanthomyza phrygia)
The Regent Honeyeater, or Xanthomyza phrygia, is a critically endangered tiny bird native to open
forests and woodland areas of North Western Australia. They are similar to hummingbirds, except
that they incorporate fruit into their diet. The Regent Honeyeater is also known as is Embroidered
Bee Eater or Embroidered Honeyeater. As can be seen in the picture below, the male honeyeater is
predominantly black with yellow trimming on the tail and wings. Females share similar coloring

Biography of Vincent Van Gogh Essay

Towards the end of the year of 1888, a tragic accident would cause Gaugin to leave the town of

unfortunately he would only end up just cutting a portion of his own ear lobe off. Vincent than
later became acting out of character which would then lead up to the point where he would be

Even though Van Gough was raised into a religious environment, he was also raised in a strict

Examples Of Insecurities In The World s Wife
In The World s Wife, Duffy challenges recognized historical, fictional and mythological characters
from the perspective of the women, reflections on relations between men and women, the
responsibilities and experiences of partners and lovers, for whom love and relationship are more
complicated than feelings others get. Some of these poems are touched with resentment, others
with blush worthy love. The combination of theme and stylistic variation means that the reader
cannot help but prefer some pieces to others. Instead of shock tactics and personal experiences, she
seemed to create more complex and interesting view.
The theme of insecurities appears throughout the poem as Duffy feels like male are leaving women
based on their appearance. The poem Medusa clearly shows many examples of insecurities. Medusa
is one of the Gorgons three sisters from Greek mythology, famous for having snakes for hair and
for turning people to stone. Medusa has always been well known among people, and was well
known for having unapproachable looks but Duffy tells her story so that the reader can gain
sympathy for Medusa, a monstrous character. The poem begins with A suspicion, a doubt, a
jealousy. This conveys how jealousy has turned the woman into a monster, and how now everything
she looks at turns to stone, which connects to the original mythology. This feeling of doubt and
insecurities continues throughout the poem, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Movie Miss Julie
Creating Reality in Theater Theater was about attracting the middle class crowd to see their play
but also to please the audience. For many years in theater, much of it presented false or unrealistic
concepts. Many authors of playwrights were accustomed to the idea of displaying productions that
were not likely happen in real life. Around the late 19th century, there was a push for creating more
of an authentic and truthful piece of work. Realism was a movement that highlighted the
representation of familiar things in a way that is accurate or true to life (Google). Reality is the
state of things as they actually exist and is the perception of things as they actual exists (Google). In
Miss Julie written by August Strindberg, this play displayed his attempt at representing realism.
Creating reality in theater requires implanting realistic points such as characters, actions, and
dialogue that is accurate to real life. Foremost, characters are a main part of a play. Establishing
characters with relatable backgrounds to people and depth makes the work more believable to the
viewer or reader. Miss Julie, who is twenty five years of age and the main character, she reveals a
lot of information about her past. I learnt from her to mistrust and hate men, for, so far as I could
hear, she always hated men and I swore to her that I would never be a man s slave ( Strindberg
30). The quote gives the reader background information about her mother s past. Her mother spent

I was born in an immense castle that belonged to the royal family in England. My parents, John
and Sarah, were some of the kindest people that anyone could ever meet. I also had a brother who
the country loved while they hated me. My father was the Monarch so he did many things which
caused me to not see him much. I grew up a spoiled and ungrateful individual. When I was 16, I
planned to murdermy father so I wouldn t have to wait until he died to take the throne. One night, I
slipped some poisonous mushrooms into his lamb that he was having for dinner. He experienced
agony all throughout the night until he finally perished. The whole country mourned his loss while
I celebrated.
The next day, I took the throne. I ruled for three months without an issue, then one of my advisors
complained. He was my father s greatest adviser and served my father since the beginning. He
stated, You need to do something for this country. You should share your money as well as trying to

Difference Between Young Goodman Brown And Young Goodman...
When an individual s perception of someone significant to them changes, their impression and
outlook on life does as well, thus resulting in their character and interaction with their environment
to be altered.
The contrast in the characters perception in the short stories Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel
Hawthorne and The Courtship of Mr. Lyon by Angela Carter can be analyzed through perspective.
In Young Goodman Brown, the events that occurred in the forest mortified Brown and caused
his awareness of Salem village to falter, which in turn led to his dark, cynical transformation in
character. Throughout his journey, he constantly attempted to fight the temptation of evil,
however, it was only until he discovered that his dear wife Faith converted that caused his
beliefs to waver. He was unable to comprehend having the one, most important figure in his life
suddenly change, as seen in the lines: My Faith is gone! cried he after one stupefied moment.
There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come. devil; for to thee is this world given
(Hawthorne 4). His perspective on his existence changed drastically into seeing only the evil in
his society and his pious ideals forever lost. This contrasts with the Beast in the Courtship of Mr.
Lyon who was an unpleasant, lonely individual who lived an isolated life until he became
acquainted with Beauty. He was a jaundiced character who caused an inconvenience to Beauty and
her father merely because of his own wishes,

Drug Abuse In School Drug Policy
The school district in these cases have very specific definitions of what drugs and weapons are
and the consequences for violating the rules. The three issues faced by the principal are, did the
student violate the school s drug/ weapon policy, what was the student s intent, and lastly, what
should the consequences be for the student s actions? In the first case an African American female
was discovered taking a pill that she claimed was allergy medication. The school district defines
drugs as marijuana or a controlled substance as defined by 21 U.S.C. Section 801 et seq.; or a
dangerous drug otherwise defined in the State Safety code. The penalty is immediate assignment to
the alternative school for one semester. In order to determine if the student violated the drug policy
I would contact the student s parents to get confirmation that the student is taking the medication
with the parent s knowledge and ask the parent to bring the bottle to confirm the medication. Then, I
would show the medication to the person who witnessed the student taking the pill to confirm that
the pills in the bottle are the same as the pill that they saw the student taking. Furthermore, I would
have the student examined by the nurse and monitor the student to see if any signs of impairment
could be observed. After determining if the student had violated the school s drug policy or not I
would assign the in school suspension for a few days because even over the counter drugs are not

Children s Lit Task 1
Part A.

popular subject of interest at all levels of reading. This trend reflects a rising concern about

be mindful with their words and actions. Another popular subject is dystopian futures. This interest
is in part due to the success of The Hunger Games trilogy, children have become interested in the
future of their planet.

Causes And Effects Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami
When people ask me how it felt, I just say imagine being thrown into a washing machine and
someone pressing on for 10 15 minutes (Crashing Down: A Tsunami Survivor Tells His Story),
says Victor Israelsson, a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of
2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean
erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a
massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the
Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared
to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in
every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000
miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists
concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the
average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft). The Indian Ocean Tsunami caused waves three times bigger
than the average tsunami, the Indian Ocean Tsunami was the third largest tsunami in the 2000 s.
An inverse method is developed to optimize the seafloor displacement on the fault plane based on
the measurements of satellite Jason 1. Many things were affected during this tsunami, some things

Sophocles wrote more than 120 tragedies, only a mear seven have survived. Plutarch tells us that
there were three periods in Sophocles literary developed: imitation of the grand style of
Aeschylus, use of artificial and incisive style, and use of the best style and that which is most
expressive of character. It is only from the third period we have examples of. The seven tragedies
that survive are Ajax 447 BC, Antigone 442/441 BC, Oedipusat Colonus 401 BC, and Tracheniae
437 432 BC, Oedipus Rex as a perfect tragedy. Sophocles made many improvements to plays such
as adding scene painting and a third actor. He increased the number of the chorus from twelve to
fifteen, and reduced the proportion of the play given to the chorus, thereby accelerating the progress
of the action; he also made better tragic masks and made many other technical improvements. A
grandmaster in the delineation of characters, he is credited with the invention of the heroic maiden,
and the ingenuous young man. Antigone is the young princess who pits herself against her uncle,

In the past years, food has been increasingly changing from natural food to bio engineered
processed food. Modern civilization has changed the type of food people intake. The market has

today s society, companies transport foodto places which were difficult before to reach in other

These benefits are an advantage for food companies because it promotes their products to be more
attractive to the customer s eyes, and gives the chance for companies to sell in out of state cities.
Even if it is an advantage to food companies, many foods lose their nutrients when being processed
and chemically changed. The American Cancer Society stated that Food processing may also alter
foods in ways that might affect cancer risk. An example is the refining of grains, which greatly
lowers the amount of fiber and other compounds that may reduce cancer risk ( Food Additives and
Organic Foods ). Altering food has the potential of losing its natural nutrients which benefit our
health in fighting against other diseases. Science has being chemically changing the food

of its natural nutrients. Food additives change the structure of the food products; it makes the food

The introduction of a new culture to another culture can be quite a challenge, as well as life
changing for those individuals who decide to assimilate the new beliefs and customs. The arrival of
the missionaries to Nigeria affected the the Ibo culture and introduced its people to a new set of
religious beliefs and westernized customs. Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart, portrays the
contrasting reactions of people to the new culture brought to their clan by the missionaries. Achebe

The new culture to which Nwoye was introduced to was completely different to what he had
known all of his life, and he found beauty and peace, despite contradicting his father s opinion.
But there was a young lad who had been captivated. His name was Nwoye, Okonkwo s first son.
It was not the mad logic of the Trinity that captivated him. He did not understand it. It was the
poetry of the new religion, something felt in the marrow. The hymn about brothers who sat in the
darkness and in fear seem to answer a vague and persistent question that haunted his young soul
the question of the twins crying in the bush and the question of Ikemefuna who was killed.
(Achebe 147, para. 5). In this new religion, Nwoye found a refuge from all of the questions that
tormented him, ever since his father participated in the killing of Ikemefuna. The white man was
also their brother because they were all sons of God. (Achebe 145, para.1). This new teaching from
the missionaries caught Nwoye s attention because he could not understand the reason why
Ikemefuna had had to be executed, and now more than ever he was sure that Ikemefuna had been
treated unfairly by the people from his village and Okonkwo.

to the recession. This impacted Detroit, the Motor City, greatly. Thousands of people were out of

The Battle with Nividia and Amd
anonymous axolotl hour 8 edited by Title
The battle between Nividia and Amd has been waging sence 1993. Which company has the best
gpu? Which company provides the best gaming experiance? well thats exactly what this paper is
about. this paper states that the nividia genforce gtx 780 ti provides a better gaming experiance
than the amd radieon r9 290 x. these two cards currently (as of december of 2013) are the best
cards for gaming that money can buy. also it is stated that all benchmarks temperature tests, and fps
counts are done with the same cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, and cooling technology. So lets end this
battle once and for all.
first, lets discuss CUDA cores and shader units. These are both practicly the same thing, just
from diffent companys. CUDA stands for compute unifies device achitecture ( Nividia 3). these
powerful units can be manipulated for any of your graphical needs. they can process images in
ultra high resolutions, or even work together to make a super realistic phisics engine. (hint: look
in paragraph 5 for more information on that). for the number people out ther the Gtx 780 ti has
2880 CUDA cores( newegg 10). Also the R9 290x has 2880 shader units (newegg is measured in
10). so as you can see there isnt any diffences in power there. next, lets talk about clock speeds.
clocks speeds are basicly how fast your gpu can use its hardware to pocess the graphics in your
game. the clock speed of a graphics card id measured in mhz. a mhz is 1 million hz.

carry in your head (Bolman, Deal, 2013, p. 10). These mental models that we rely on as an
interpretation, influence our understanding of world and organizational events, because they
reflect our current mind sets. For example, a mental model that is prevalent in the army, is that
your appearance reflects your potential. This may cause others to judge soldiers initially, by
their appearance. If they are overweight, or their appearance looks disheveled, they are often
initially seen as being undisciplined. Changing our mental models can directly change our
understanding of events, because we can perceive things differently, and also then identify other
root causes, or resolutions. In my example, if one realizes that a newly assigned soldier may not
be completely situated in a home and community as yet, that perhaps they do not have access to
the resources that they may need, to present the best appearance, such as a good barber. A leader
could recognize this as a need to provide more community familiarization, or access to resources.
By exploring mental, models Senge (2006) recognizes that one can create a reflection in the work
environment and, by doing so, encourage a more open discussion, and expose the

Tony Kushner s Angels Of America
According to Tony Kushner in his dramatic play, Angels of America, Kushner uses angels and
religion to help develop the characters afflicted by it as well carry them through the entire play
and reach some sort of enlightenment. Spirituality is a big thing within Angels in America, and
Angels are one of them. Harper: When you look at the ozone layer, from outside, from a spaceship,
it looks like a pale blue halo [...]. It s a gift, from God, the crowning touch to the creation of the
world: guardian angels, hands linked [...] a shell of safety for life itself. (Kushner) To Harper,
the Angel s are there to protect and watch over us. Being raised Mormon, Harper sees things
through a spiritual lens. The ozone is not just a scientific fact but something that God gave to us
as a gift, and the halo are not only gases but angels. Yet, to Prior, they re a symbol of death. When
Prior reveals his lesion he calls them, the wine dark kiss of the angel of death (Kushner). It s a
complete contrast to what Harper believes, it could be that fact Prior is not religious or because of
the circumstance Prior is in. In general, angels are so far portrayed as protects and destroyers of
mankind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe uses the story of Jacob wrestling the Angel as a metaphor for the turmoil he feels within. Joe
is a devoted Mormon, believes that homosexuality is a sin in fact they do not even recognize it.
So within Joe his personal identity and his spiritual identity are constantly at war with each
other. They are wrestling within him trying to dominate each other. Joe: I had a book of Bible
stories when I was a kid. There was a picture I d look at twenty times every day: Jacob wrestles
with the angel. [...] Jacob is young and very strong. The angel is... a beautiful man, with golden hair
and wings, of course. (Kushner). Also this could be why when Joe was little he had much interest

Insight on Life and God in The Sovereignty and Goodness of...
The Sovereignty and goodness of God is a book about a woman who is in a stressful situation. She
is desperately trying to please God because she is feeling like he is punishing her. This book is
widely appreciated because I believe a lot of people can relate to Mary Rowlandson. Sometimes
we come to a point in life where we cannot handle all of the stress. We do things to please our
parents, God, teachers and so on. At this point in my life I can relate to the Mary Rowlandson,
except I know there is nothing I can do to please God. A lot of times we get stuck thinking that
we have to do things to please him. In the book The Sovereignty and Goodness of God, Mary
Rowlandson is captured and she thinks God is doing this to her. This book is... Show more content

I can relate to her. A lot of college students including myself take on too much stress and we
strive to please others when really we should accept ourselves. Mary Rowlandson struggles with
taking in the fact that God accepts her and her situation is a trial she is going through in life that
she will overcome. I also appreciate this work because Mary Rowlandson wants to do many
things, how to see her family, but the Indians do not let her do anything. In this case by comparing
it with me I can say that many times I want to do too many things, but at the same time, something s
are out of my control sometimes life puts us in situations that make things impossible and we need
to learn how to make the best of something and accept it. It is meaningful to me because Mary is
put in a situation where she cannot control things. Eventually she is able to see her family. She
never gave up on them and she made the best out of the situation she was in. In my life I know
there are things that are out of my control, but I am learning that if we keep pursuing life instead
of giving up, things will fall in place. A lot of times we have a vision of out things ought to be.
As for Mary, she wanted to see her family instantly, but she couldn t. Things do fall into place with
perseverance but they don t always work out the way we think it will. This book changed my way
of thinking toward things, since this reading taught me to be patient, because the use of Mary

Ticks Use Several Ways For Locate Hosts
Ticks use several ways to locate hosts. Some quest, i.e. they crawl onto vegetation and wait for
passing hosts which they grab onto using their front legs, then crawl on the host until they find a
suitable site to attach and feed (Walker et al., 2003). The tick s questing behaviour is related to host
kairomones which are residues rubbed off host body onto vegetation (Terassini et al., 2010). Ticks
become akinetic upon encountering residues of kairomones (Carroll, 1998). As Artiodactyla and
Peryssodactyla usually frequent the same trails (Emmons and Feer, 1997), ticks waiting on these
positions have a chance of successfully encountering the host (Carroll, 2003). Arrestment
pheromones present in cast larval skins, tickfaecal droppings and tick body exudates also induce
akinetic (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). These two pheromones result in clustering of ticks. The
arrestment pheromones are interspecies specific, i.e Ornithodoros moubata arrestment pheromones
induce ceasation of movement in O. tholozani (Sonenshine, 2004). This behaviour is also expressed
between some different genera (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014).
Adult ticks of Amblyomma and Hyalomma are exophilic, i.e. they hunt for a nearby host by
running across the ground (Walker et al., 2003). Argasids and many Ixodes species are endophilic,
i.e. they spent their life time in a host s nest from where they attach to available host. A few species
of ticks have adapted to human dwellings, e.g. Rhipicephalus sanguineus. These feed

Suffering And Vocation In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Darkness and desperation consume him. In Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse the protagonist,
Siddhartha, has a life changing experience during his darkest hour and realizes numerous important
lessons during this moment. Throughout the novel, Siddhartha holds a variety of vocations,
experiencing a different lifestyle from each one leading to his understanding of suffering and his
desperation. The pivotal point of the book occurs during Siddharthas darkest hour when he
contemplates suicide by the river. During this moment, Siddhartha learns to look within for answers
and unifies himself with the universe. While learning the ways of business from Kamaswami,

Acting as a spiritual guide, Vasudeva teaches Siddhartha to learn from the river, which
realistically is Siddhartha for all aspects of life are unified. The two ferrymen come to think of
the river as ... the voice of life, the voice of Being, of perpetual Becoming (Hesse 88). The river
holds all the answers Siddhartha needs, including how to find love, gratitude and unity, while
serving as his spiritual guide to Nirvana. When Little Siddhartha leaves Siddhartha to follow his
own path, just as Siddhartha had done to his father, he uses two lessons that he learns from the
river to heal his wounded heart: patience and listening. These lessons bring him closer to
enlightenment and help him discover ... that love is the most important thing in the world (Hesse

in the fact that Siddhartha contemplates suicide by the river and reaches enlightenment there too,
because when he contemplates ending his life, he awakens and begins a new life of universal unity

The Case Of O.j. Simpson
The Unfolding Case of O.J. Simpson
Rachel S. Hillyard
Utah State University
Abstract
The unsolved murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman has become one of the
most discussed cases in all of history. Orenthal James O.J. Simpson, the formal professional
football player and the ex husband of Nicole Brown has always been the main suspect in this
case. Although found not guilty by the jury, many still believe he was the killer. In this paper, we
will discuss in great detail the events that took place at the time of the murder, as well as why or
why not O.J. is guilty. If O.J. isn t guilty, who could have been the mastermind behind these
murders?

Model Three Stages Of Kurt Lewin s Theory
The Model three stages Unfreeze, Change and Refreeze which was explained by Lewin by
changing the shape of a block of ice. He explained that if one have large cube of ice but realised
after some time that he wants a cone of ice, what to do? First, melt the ice so that is become easier
to change Unfreeze. The second step shape the iced water into the want form Changeand finally
freeze to the new form Refreeze. It is likely to take these phases to entirely complex levels yet I
don t trust this is important to have the capacity to work with the theory. Be that as it may, know
that the hypothesis has been condemned for being excessively simplified.
The method has changed a lot since the theory was initially introduced in 1947, however the Kurt
Lewin model is still to a great degree important. Many new models are actually based on Kurt
Lewin model.
The first stage which is the unfreezing one, is the most vital to recognise the change happening

This indicates that it does not serve to define the objective of planned change in group
performance as the reaching of a different level. Permanency of the new level, or permanency for a
desired period, should be included in the objective.
Lewin s concern is about emphasising the change and make sure that the desired change is
established and continued into the future. By not doing this, might force people to go back while
doing what they are used to.
Since, the Lewin s model has a definite end; I don t think that this would be adopted for Casela
World of Adventures as there are still lots of changes to come and in high speed. This model
would rather be used to set up change management for people/organisation where it is quite easy to
understand by ensuring that all stages are extended to help for better

Canal Building before 1840 Essay
Canal Building before 1840: Essay
Throughout history, there has been a need for better mode of transportation in order to keep up
with economical growth. Canals have been around since the Ancient Roman Civilizations and still
exist today. Canals have been so important because they allow people to travel from one place to
another and back by way of water. They require very little energy and maintenance but help trade
flow more efficiently. This can be proved by observing the United States economy in the early 19th
century. The canal Era was a major influence in American History. Canal building was spurred by
the transportation revolution, which was from about 1815 to 1860. The transportation revolution
greatly affected the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It had paid off its seven million dollar debt by 1836. It made New York the biggest trade centerin
the United States. Canal construction was being planned in every state east of the Mississippi River.
I have found a couple major interpretations of my subject. One of them is a book titled The
Transportation Frontier. This book contains everything there is to know about the Canal Era. It also
talks about how our major mode of transportation went from turnpikes to canals, and later, canals to
steamboats and railroads. One thing that this source talks about that very few do is the other canals
that were built after the Erie Canal as a result of its success. These canals include the Champlain
canal, the Union Canal, the Ohio Canal, the Pennsylvania Canal, and many more.
I feel that my topic was fine as far as restrictions go. I do think though that it should have been
limited to the Erie Canal only because that was by far the most important canal of the era. All of
the sources I found have contained the Erie Canal.
One thing wrong with my topic is that it is limited to canals before 1840. It should have been canal
building before 1860 since that is about when the Canal Era ended.
Another topic should have been the transportation revolution from 1815 to 1860. This would
include all of the canals built and it would also contain how road and bridge building would move
onto canal building. And it

Candide by Voltaire
Candide Paper Many critics argue that Candide is not an enlightened work, but Voltaire s satire
thoroughly reflects on the philosophical morals and lessons of the Enlightenment. Voltaire s satire
comments on the political, social, and religious views of the time, emphasizing the beliefs of a
majority of enlightenment thinkers and philosophers. Voltairedemonstrates three different
enlightenment thoughts or views in his work: anti feudalism, optimism, and the hypocrisy of the
Christian church. Perhaps the most common and well known characteristic of the Enlightenment
was anti feudalism. Philosophers during the Enlightenment advocated against the separation of the
nobility from the other social classes and tried to obtain equality among all human beings. In
CandideVoltaire writes about the outlandish actions of the nobility throughout. For instance,
Voltaire describes the character Baron Thunder ten tronckh and his castle as extravagant, even
though Westphalia is a homely and mundane estate. Although both the character and his palace
seem important, Baron Thunder ten tronckh lacks the nobility to maintain rule over his people.
The Baron simply forces the lower classes to complete hard labor and justifies this action by
stating that his birth is the right of power. Following this, the Baron s sister refuses to marry
Candide s father because he is poor and will not represent Westphalia properly. Although they have
similar lineage, the Baroness refuses to marry a man who

Analysis Of Taming Of The Shrew
Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the indication of a woman being the possession of
her husband, and having to do everything that he proposes her to do is presented. Katherine has to
acquire appropriate manners toward a man in advance before her sister Bianca can wed. Bianca
wishes to marry one of her suitors/bachelors, but she can t due to tradition because the older sister
has to marry first.
In 10 Things I Hate About You
, a analogous argument, the notion of a girl requiring appropriate
behavior is exemplified. There are many resemblances and dissimilarities in characters of both, for
instance, Katherine and Kat, the two main focuses, both come from families with a decent quantity
of prosperity, as seen from the housing in both aspects, as in the play, she lives in type of a Roman
Villa, and in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they live in a quiet, large community. An
additional likeness remains that Petruchio is compensated to get married to Katherine, however in
the up to date version; Patrick is also compensated to go out with Katherine. In the end, Patrick and
Petruchio have tamed Katherine because she is now willing to marry/date.
The plots are very parallel. The straightforward plots of Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate
About You both involve various men wanting to be with Bianca, but Bianca has a mean, older
sister named Katherine who no one wants to be with. In both of the stories, the father of these two
girls stresses that Bianca not get

Episodic Memory
As teachers, we are here to educate our students in our areas, but how do we know when students
actually understand and learn the information being taught? Marilee Sprenger (1998) said memory
is the only way to verify learning . After researching the parts of the brain and learning how it
processes information, her statement is true. Memoryis the process by which we retain the
knowledge and skills for the future (Sousa, 2011). According to Sprenger (1998), there a five
separate memory lanes: semantic, episodic, procedural, automatic, and emotional. Semantic
memory deals with words and is the most difficult because you must process it repeatedly for long
term effects. Episodic memory is location driven. The procedural memory is your how to memory.
Automatic memory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Final memory is emotional memory, which connects back to the amygdala where all your
emotions lay. Effective teaching uses strategies to help students recognize patterns and then make
the required connections to process the new working memories so they can travel into the brain s
long term storage areas (Willis, 2007). The first strategy I will do in my classroom is to provide
down time in between learning episodes. I teach in block scheduling and I ve come to realize that
students remember best what comes first, then when comes last, but tend to forget everything in the
middle. If I break my block time into four sections, since high school students can handle about 20
minutes in working memory, I give students time to process the information being taught. The
down time would be a brain break. During the brain breaks students could be

All of this violence poses a threat to individual nations all through the world, focusing on the immigration of refugees into such nations and the impact of such a movement upon that nation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to all problems, only if everyone works together can a peaceful end be reached. With an alliance between all of the nations, the threat that the Syrian Civil War poses would decrease. There would be a more controlled environment for refugees from the war and a more emphasized effort towards humanitarian support. The Republic of Finland would like to emphasize the need for a supported humanitarian effort. One of the major issues attributed to the Syrian Civil War is the deprivation of human rights. There is constant torture and execution of innocent lives. Rape is actually used as a weapon of war. With non profit organizations such as White Helmets and Red Cross, help can be sent to people trapped inside war zones and to those refugees who lack the necessities to get proper care. In fact, a meeting in early 2017 of all of the UN leaders will be held in Finland. Furthermore, an organization known as Suomi Syyria YhteisГ¶, or SSY, is a Finnish based charity already dedicated to providing humanitarian relief in Syria. • 4. The Historical Landmarks Of Jerusalem While the present day Jerusalem flourishes with the pilgrims attracted by the city s religious significance and the tourists intrigued by its historical landmarks, it was merely a minor city state in the ancient times. However, rather than a miracle that had occurred overnight, the social and economic status of Jerusalemwas obtained through a process of evolution, the early parts of which were recorded in the Hebrew Bible, which is a collection of narratives based on genuine historical events while centering its stories on divine power. In the case of Jerusalem, the Bible provides intricate accounts of religiously significant events that were in sync with the stages of Jerusalem s development, starting with King Davids choice to designate the city as the capital of the United Monarchy, and culminating around the time of Solomon s construction of the First Temple, as well as the fall of the city to the Babylonians. Through these references to the Bible, which centralize early events of the Israelite religious history in the city of Jerusalem, it is unequivocal that not only has Jerusalem affected the religious society of the Israelites, but the evolution of the city into a political and spiritual capital is also related to the religious events that took place in the city. To examine the connection between religion and space, Thomas Tweed introduces a model in his short essay Space , which defines the characteristics of religious spaces like Jerusalem interrelated, ... Examples Of Insecurities In The World s Wife In The World s Wife, Duffy challenges recognized historical, fictional and mythological characters from the perspective of the women, reflections on relations between men and women, the responsibilities and experiences of partners and lovers, for whom love and relationship are more complicated than feelings others get. Some of these poems are touched with resentment, others with blush worthy love. The combination of theme and stylistic variation means that the reader cannot help but prefer some pieces to others. When an individual s perception of someone significant to them changes, their impression and outlook on life does as well, thus resulting in their character and interaction with their environment to be altered. The contrast in the characters perception in the short stories Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Courtship of Mr. Lyon by Angela Carter can be analyzed through perspective. In Young Goodman Brown, the events that occurred in the forest mortified Brown and caused his awareness of Salem village to falter, which in turn led to his dark, cynical transformation in character. Throughout his journey, he constantly attempted to fight the temptation of evil, however, it was only until he discovered that his dear wife Faith converted that caused his beliefs to waver. He was unable to comprehend having the one, most important figure in his life suddenly change, as seen in the lines: My Faith is gone! cried he after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a name. Come. devil; for to thee is this world given (Hawthorne 4). His perspective on his existence changed drastically into seeing only the evil in his society and his pious ideals forever lost. Causes And Effects Of The Indian Ocean Tsunami When people ask me how it felt, I just say imagine being thrown into a washing machine and someone pressing on for 10 15 minutes (Crashing Down: A Tsunami Survivor Tells His Story), says Victor Israelsson, a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 was a massive disaster in size, affects, and casualties. On December 26, 2004 the Indian Ocean erupted into one of the biggest tsunamis in Earth s recorded history. The tsunamiwas caused by a massive 9.0 earthquakethat was located near the coast of Sumatra. The extreme movement of the Earth s tectonic plates displaced water in the Indian Ocean. The energy of the quake was compared to the equivalent of 23,000 Hiroshima type bombs. The energy forcibly shot through the ocean in every direction and displaced the sea floor. The Indian Ocean Tsunami traveled around 300,000 miles to Africa, but still carried the momentum to kill people and destroy property. Scientists concluded that the tsunami height was between 9m high along the entire stretch of the coast, the average tsunami height is 3m (10 ft). The Indian Ocean Tsunami caused waves three times bigger than the average tsunami, the Indian Ocean Tsunami was the third largest tsunami in the 2000 s. • 42. The Key Of Effective Leadership The Key to Effective Leadership Insights Gained I have ascertained that utilizing mental models, I can understand why and how different people on the same team process similar occurrences in a different manner. A mental model is a set of ideas and assumptions that you carry in your head (Bolman, Deal, 2013, p. 10). These mental models that we rely on as an interpretation, influence our understanding of world and organizational events, because they reflect our current mind sets. For example, a mental model that is prevalent in the army, is that your appearance reflects your potential. This may cause others to judge soldiers initially, by their appearance. If they are overweight, or their appearance looks disheveled, they are often initially seen as being undisciplined. Changing our mental models can directly change our understanding of events, because we can perceive things differently, and also then identify other root causes, or resolutions. In my example, if one realizes that a newly assigned soldier may not be completely situated in a home and community as yet, that perhaps they do not have access to the resources that they may need, to present the best appearance, such as a good barber. A leader could recognize this as a need to provide more community familiarization, or access to resources. By exploring mental, models Senge (2006) recognizes that one can create a reflection in the work environment and, by doing so, encourage a more open discussion, and expose the ... Some quest, i.e. they crawl onto vegetation and wait for passing hosts which they grab onto using their front legs, then crawl on the host until they find a suitable site to attach and feed (Walker et al., 2003). The tick s questing behaviour is related to host kairomones which are residues rubbed off host body onto vegetation (Terassini et al., 2010). Ticks become akinetic upon encountering residues of kairomones (Carroll, 1998). As Artiodactyla and Peryssodactyla usually frequent the same trails (Emmons and Feer, 1997), ticks waiting on these positions have a chance of successfully encountering the host (Carroll, 2003). Arrestment pheromones present in cast larval skins, tickfaecal droppings and tick body exudates also induce akinetic (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). These two pheromones result in clustering of ticks. The arrestment pheromones are interspecies specific, i.e Ornithodoros moubata arrestment pheromones induce ceasation of movement in O. tholozani (Sonenshine, 2004). This behaviour is also expressed between some different genera (Sonenshine and Roe, 2014). Adult ticks of Amblyomma and Hyalomma are exophilic, i.e. they hunt for a nearby host by running across the ground (Walker et al., 2003). Another topic should have been the transportation revolution from 1815 to 1860. This would include all of the canals built and it would also contain how road and bridge building would move onto canal building. And it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Candide by Voltaire Candide Paper Many critics argue that Candide is not an enlightened work, but Voltaire s satire thoroughly reflects on the philosophical morals and lessons of the Enlightenment. Voltaire s satire comments on the political, social, and religious views of the time, emphasizing the beliefs of a majority of enlightenment thinkers and philosophers. Voltairedemonstrates three different enlightenment thoughts or views in his work: anti feudalism, optimism, and the hypocrisy of the Christian church. Perhaps the most common and well known characteristic of the Enlightenment was anti feudalism. Philosophers during the Enlightenment advocated against the separation of the nobility from the other social classes and tried to obtain equality among all human beings. In CandideVoltaire writes about the outlandish actions of the nobility throughout. For instance, Voltaire describes the character Baron Thunder ten tronckh and his castle as extravagant, even though Westphalia is a homely and mundane estate. Although both the character and his palace seem important, Baron Thunder ten tronckh lacks the nobility to maintain rule over his people. The Baron simply forces the lower classes to complete hard labor and justifies this action by stating that his birth is the right of power. Following this, the Baron s sister refuses to marry Candide s father because he is poor and will not represent Westphalia properly. Although they have similar lineage, the Baroness refuses to marry a man who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Erin Tam Monologue To you, Erin Tam may just seem like another Asian girl in Monterey Park. I can assure you, she isn t. This girl named Erin goes to a school called Repetto, and is currently in eighth grade, but she isn t some random eighth grade either. Her insight on things aren t influenced by the internet, and she refuses to fill her head with the nonsense of the average thirteen year old brain. After interviewing her, I cannot say that me perspective of the world has miraculously changed, but I will say that Tam has given me a gentler insight. As I mentioned before, Erin Tam is not your average gossiping eighth grader. She would much rather spend her time studying, doing her work, reading, or drawing. The seriousness she has on her school work reflects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Erin Tam sacrifices both time and energy to help her classmates with homework, or just to keep them company. You may see her on the benches sitting down with her backpack and helping another student. As nice as she is, she s picky about who to trust as her close friends. According to her, a good friend is someone who will try to understand you when you re telling them things, and won t judge, not a bobblehead friend that agrees with everything she says, though. Tam understands when she s wrong and does not mind when you tell her. From this, I can tell you she is a great friend. Even though serious, Tam takes time off from being a student and relaxes. She enjoys watching anime and a show called Black Butler , who she says she is a fan girl of. Her favorite show might begin with Black but her favorite color is yellow. Not only does she enjoy yellow and Black Butler , but she also likes to play Minecraft and the Sims. Her reason for playing these games is because she finds them fun, and she can express her creativity with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Analysis Of Taming Of The Shrew Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the indication of a woman being the possession of her husband, and having to do everything that he proposes her to do is presented. Katherine has to acquire appropriate manners toward a man in advance before her sister Bianca can wed. Bianca wishes to marry one of her suitors/bachelors, but she can t due to tradition because the older sister has to marry first. In 10 Things I Hate About You , a analogous argument, the notion of a girl requiring appropriate behavior is exemplified. There are many resemblances and dissimilarities in characters of both, for instance, Katherine and Kat, the two main focuses, both come from families with a decent quantity of prosperity, as seen from the housing in both aspects, as in the play, she lives in type of a Roman Villa, and in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they live in a quiet, large community. An additional likeness remains that Petruchio is compensated to get married to Katherine, however in the up to date version; Patrick is also compensated to go out with Katherine. In the end, Patrick and Petruchio have tamed Katherine because she is now willing to marry/date. The plots are very parallel. The straightforward plots of Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You both involve various men wanting to be with Bianca, but Bianca has a mean, older sister named Katherine who no one wants to be with. In both of the stories, the father of these two girls stresses that Bianca not get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Episodic Memory As teachers, we are here to educate our students in our areas, but how do we know when students actually understand and learn the information being taught? Marilee Sprenger (1998) said memory is the only way to verify learning . After researching the parts of the brain and learning how it processes information, her statement is true. Memoryis the process by which we retain the knowledge and skills for the future (Sousa, 2011). According to Sprenger (1998), there a five separate memory lanes: semantic, episodic, procedural, automatic, and emotional. Semantic memory deals with words and is the most difficult because you must process it repeatedly for long term effects. Episodic memory is location driven. The procedural memory is your how to memory. Automatic memory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Final memory is emotional memory, which connects back to the amygdala where all your emotions lay. Effective teaching uses strategies to help students recognize patterns and then make the required connections to process the new working memories so they can travel into the brain s long term storage areas (Willis, 2007). The first strategy I will do in my classroom is to provide down time in between learning episodes. I teach in block scheduling and I ve come to realize that students remember best what comes first, then when comes last, but tend to forget everything in the middle. If I break my block time into four sections, since high school students can handle about 20 minutes in working memory, I give students time to process the information being taught. The down time would be a brain break. During the brain breaks students could be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
