Richard Nixon Character Analysis
NIXON, KING OF IRONY...OR IS IT RECALCITRANCE?
People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I m not a crook. I earned
everything I ve got.

HIST*1221*100
2017Dec2 Throughout the history of The United States of America, many presidents have come
and gone, some with many successes and some not so much, but no president was as quirky and
hot headed as the former President Richard Nixon. One Man Against the World: The Tragedy of
Richard Nixon tells the story of a very provoked man, considered by many across the world to be a
brilliant politician, in the process of destroying himself. In this novel, Americans can better
understand Nixon as the man that he was, as well as his policy in Vietnam, the beginnings of the
Watergate scandal, and the effects that his decisions have had on America until this day. All the lies
and secrets kept by President Nixon will forever reign on the inevitable influence that it has had on
politicians to come. Many people ask a simple question when it comes to Richard Nixon, Was he an
honorable and ethical man during his time in the White House? To get the answer to that question,
you would have to consider Nixon s actions and temperament. While he had many scandals, he had
a few accomplishments without having to skew anyone or anything around him to achieve. His
most famous involvements were in the Watergate and Vietnam. President Richard Nixon, along
with his National Security Advisor,

Safety Another primary responsibility of the loss prevention associate is to ensure the safety of
employee and the customers that visit the store (Carson Snowden, 2010). The associate must
ensure that certain safety equipment is present all around the store. These items include fire
extinguishers, first aid kits, unblocked fire exits, stacked merchandise, and safety signs (Carson
Snowden, 2010). This aspect of the loss prevention duties is usually required by the store and the
area fire marshal. In a situation, that a fire marshal enters the store and there are blocked exits and
expired fire extinguishers the store could be closed down. The loss prevention associate needs to
make sure that all the fire extinguishers are up to date and in working conditions along with
operating fire exits around the store. At the same time there has to be a sense of store safety against
theft at nighttime. The loss prevention associate must also conduct alarm test throughout the month
to ensure the alarm system is working properly (Carson Snowden, 2010).Additionally, the loss
prevention associate must also complete accident reports for employees and customers, which
occur inside the building. This process is done by a loss prevention member because they are
upheld with highest level on integrity (Carson Snowden, 2010). The loss prevention associate must

Management Styles
The management culture provides the developing direction of a company. It decides the
characteristic and company culture in an enterprise. However, the style can be influenced by certain
factors, such as, policy, history background, social system, international competition. In this essay,
three management styles and two company types will be indentified and discussed.
Management style belongs to management strategy; it can be composed of operation strategy,
company culture and managers. To be specific, different management styleshave distinct
characterizations, which can be divided many particular aspects. For instances, Asian styles of
management is originated from western styles; however, Asian styles and western styles have ...

This situation can be explained by Chinese mood. Wang (2010) indicated that the cultural
background, policy and economic conditions of the country have suffered Chinese managers to
confuse the existed management styles, which requires a new way to get accustomed to modern
market. Moreover, some internal and external factors should be considered between Chinese style
and western style.
Paternalism style is used widely in Chinese state owned company. Firstly, the influence of
management style in China is competition. Obviously, as a most potential international market,
more and more western companies enter the local market, like Wal Mart. The external retail
companies including Hong Kong companies have possessed almost retail market in China. In this
circumstance, small sized private company cannot compete with magnates; only the state owned
enterprise can rely on the policy to rival magnates in this area. The reason is that western large scale
companies have developed over many years; some of them have even existed for many centuries,
such as Mercedes Benz. It has long history, 110 years, in the automotive industry, and has a mature
management style and company culture. China also has own automotive industry named Shanghai
Automotive, which has been established 30 years, but the quantity of sales are better than
Mercedes Benz in China, because the company imported the advanced technology and brand, such
as Volkswagen; and it

Kohler is a name brand that many people turn to when looking for new faucets and other bathroom

not the only reason it is a popular choice. To find out more about what Kohler toilets have to offer,

The Case Of Brinegar V. United States
1.Probable cause is a set of facts surrounding a specific circumstances that leads a reasonable
person to believe an individual is committing, has committed or is about to commit a crime.
Probable cause is required in the instances of an arrest, search and seizure and the issuance of a
warrant. To ESTABILISH reasonable cause the officer can use any trustworthy information. For
example the office could use his/her experience, informant information, first hand observations or
knowledge, victim reports, anonymous tips, or hearsay.
In the case of Brinegar v. United States, the petitioner claimed that the arresting officer violated his
4th amendment rights and illegally search his car. In the search and siezure the officer found that
the petitioner was transporting intoxicating liquor into Oaklahoma, which is a direct violation of
law. The courts found that the arresting office had arrested the petitioner on the same violation
several months earlier and this was enough reasonable cause to conduct the search ans seizure.
Reasonable suspicion is different from probable cause as reasonable suspicion allows an officer to
temporarily detain a person if the officer suspects the person of committing a crime, previously
committed a crime, or is about to commit a crime. This will allow the officer the time to conduct an
investigation that may allow him/her to find the facts that are required to arrest per probable cause.
Therefore, reasonable suspicion is thought of to be a hunch

Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Hamilton s View Of...
The original political parties, Federalist and Democratic Republicans, in America differed in their
view of strong federal government vs strong state government. One leader that helped run the
Federalist was Alexander Hamilton and Hamilton believed in a strong federal government.
Hamilton s plan was to pay off all state debt, pay off all the bonds, and to form a national bank,
and taxes. Which leads to why Hamilton believed we should have a strong federal government. The
federal government would help keep order among the people and unite struggling states. Hamilton s
view of the federal government is it had implied powers are powers that are suggested but not
directly given to the government. Hamilton s used the idea of implied powers to help justify a
national bank. Hamilton argued that the Constitution gave Congress the power to issue money and
regulate trade, and a national bank would clearly help the government carry out these
responsibilities. Thus, Hamilton believed that creating a national bank is within the constitutional
powers of congress. Hamilton wanted a national bank not only because we were in debt from the
war against Great Britain, but also stimulate the economy, by having a more stable paper currency.
In contrast, the Democratic Republican... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plus, Jefferson feared tyranny and thought in terms of freedom. Many feared it would fall under the

but in a more limited sense than Hamilton s plan. They believed that implied powers are powers

Conservative Views Of The Republican Party Of 2016
I ve spent a lot of time recently reading conservative explanations of Why I support Donald
Trump. Interestingly they often don t articulate any policy issues, but rather attack the
alternatives. I read one particularly weak argument (bereft of any facts) that said If Bernie wins
we ll have a socialist president, and that is really scary! It is this subject that I d like to address:
the unreasonable, rampant fear of socialismin America today. The Republican party of 2016 is
hard to define, but one characteristic that stands out is their abject hatred (or fear of) socialism.
They lashed out at the Affordable Care Act and president Obama as being socialist and have
made the claim that it is greatest current threat to America. Really? Socialism. There are not
many words that are more feared and/or hated in America during the last 8 years. It s the
monster that hides under your bed when you re young. You re not quite sure what the monster
looks like, but you know it is something to be afraid of. You ve watched too many Friday the
13th movies. People can t explain the monster, but they know it s under there. You ve never
risked taking the time to look under your bed for it, and instead have relied on the rants and
whispers of other kids who ensure you the monsters are very real. Socialism. The word conjures
up views and ideas of an intrusive Big Brother. They will tell us where to work, what to wear,
what to buy and how to think. We ll wake up one day

As a result, there are many cases that are left unreported. With this, CPA s are in a unique position
to bridge the gap in reporting of fraud committed against elders, as they are a trusted source for
their clients. CPA s should look to take on a financial elder planning role when providing
services to the elder demographic. Although this role is atypical for a CPA, they are in a
position to do so as they have a high amount of knowledge about the client. One of the best
measures CPA s can provide is awareness to the subject. CPA s can begin by ensuring the elder is
well informed about common scams and risks associated with particular activities as the fraudsters

Essay about The Missile Defense System of the United States
The Missile Defense System of the United States
Abstract
When Ronald Reagan was in the Presidency, he and his staff came up with the idea for a missile
defense system that would defend the country in the event of a nuclear missile attack. This system
was named Star Wars and the basic principal behind it was that it would be a shield that covered all
fifty states. However, government officials soon realized that Reagan s defense system was
impossible to build, so the program was dropped, but the idea to defend the country against a
missile attack stuck around. Today, the U. S. Government is trying to build a new, more realistic
missile defense system. However, not all the problems have been worked out, and the U. S.
Government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another one of its missions is to develop and maintain the option to deploy a cost effective,
operationally effective, and Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty compliant system that could protect the
states against a country that may pose a threat. The most important part of this is definitely the
protection of all the states against a missile attack. In order to make a defense system that would
work, the National Missile Defense would need to have a system that meets the missile threat
when it s released, detect a launch of a missile, track it using radars and destroy the warhead above
the atmosphere of earth (National missile defense, 2000).
History
The new missile defense program started in 1993 after the Department of Defense decided to
conduct a review that would select the strategy, force structure, and modernization programs for
America s defense in the post Cold War era. When the U. S. S. R. broke apart, it was decided
that there was not much of a threat from China or the former Soviet Union. However, it was
uncertain how easy it would be for a third world country to come into possession of long range
missiles. In response to their uncertainty, the Defense Department built the National Missile
Defense in order to develop and keep the ability to launch a missile defense if a threat emerged
(National missile defense, 2000).
In 1994, Congress called for a great acceleration in the development of the missile defense system.
This call represented a sense

Zachary Taylor Research Paper
Based on President Zachary Taylor s time in office and the one or two things that he
accomplished, he should be rank with a 4. It s important to realize that within 16 months of
office he had great foreign relations with Great Britain, and he had a mindset to ban slavery in
the new western territories, though he was a slave owner. He didn t have really enough time
during his presidency to do much of anything due to his unsustained presidency. Former
president Zachary Taylor main goal during his presidency was the lead the army and recapture
any states that seceded the union. He had a great military background as the hero of the
Mexican American War, and he was a nationalist that did not hesitate to serve his country. Taylor
also had at first intended to be a nonpartisan president, but under pressure from his advisers he
adopted the spoils system, awarding offices to party loyalists. As a result, much of his time and
many of his problems concerned the demands of unemployed Whig politicians. Jacob Collamer

Pilgrimage to the Prophet Muhammad’s Grave Essay
The Prophet Muhammad died in 632 CE. He was believed to be the Seal of the Prophets,
meaning the last prophet; therefore his grave is a very sacred place (A Concise Introduction to
World religions, 210 215). Visiting the Prophet s grave is a controversial issue. Scholars have
different perspectives on traveling to his grave, each based on the Islamic Law, shari ah. Al
Nawawi and Bin Baz each have differing yet similar rulings on the proper way of Pilgrimaging to

6). The two scholars have several differences between their ideas on visiting the grave of the
Prophet. Bin Baz suggest that one should visit the grave before or after Hajj. He also forbids
women from travelling to the grave of the Prophet. Bin Baz justifies this by stating that
Muhammad has cursed women who go to graves (Fatawa of Shaykh Abdulaziz b. Baz Volume 16).
Al Nawawi recommends visiting it only as one is leaving Mecca, after Hajj. He also has a more
strict policy on visiting the graves. Al Nawawi suggests that the visitor must perform ghusl before
arriving in Medina, in which a ritual washing takes place. After they have completed this then they
must put on their cleanest clothes (The Explication of the Rites of Hajj Ch. 6). Bin Baz and al
Nawawi each have specific rituals that must take place once at the grave itself. Both scholars say
that one should enter with their right foot, as they should in any other Mosque. Both of them
suggest praying in the rawda, or garden, upon entering the mosque. After the prayer both scholars
inform the visitors to approach the Prophet s grave, then the scholars have different steps.

In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four

In 1980, Zimbabwe after being liberated, the government vigorously invested in all sectors of the
economy (health, education, mining, universal access to services but this in turn led to the
government budget deficits in the mid 1980s and forced the government to look for ways to
finance its excessive expenditure. Zimbabwe was then persuaded to implement ESAP. The
programme was to run from year 1991 to 1995.
ESAP was a package with instruments to be adhered to, and these were the components:
1.Reduction of government expenditure through privatization
2.Removing wage controls
3.Removing controls on exchange rates
4.Removing subsidies on basic goods
5.Removal of price control measures
The basis of these components was to let the market control the economy and reduce government

What Were The Causes Of The American Revolutions
A revolution, as defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary, is the violent attempt by many people
to end the rule of one government to start a new one. In 1640, the long parliament was found and
was followed by the short parliament which followed a 11 year absence. Two revolutions in 1642
1660 and 1688 1689, overturned two kings and confirmed the constitutional powers of an elected
parliament, laying the foundation for the idea that government must guarantee certain rights to the
people under the law. The first was the English revolution which was introduced by Marxist
historians, where parliament challenged King Charles I s authority. Although, Parliament interfered
in civil conflict against his forces, King Charles I was executed in 1649. The second was the
Glorious revolutionwhich supporters of the parliament announced because it was achieved with
little bloodshed. In this revolution, King James II of Englandwas removed from power by a group

The Circle Eggers
Circle by Dave Eggers
Introduction
The Circle is an American novel that was written by Dave Eggers and was published in the year
2013. It is a book of fiction and is the author s tenth publication (Eggers 12). The novel is about a
lady by the name Mae Holland who is employed by an internet company that is flourishing well
and has high rewards. However, with time and as she continues to work there systems and things
begin to fall apart and the success story begins to diminish (Eggers 19). The major theme of the
book is the ability to handle and manage the right to independence and self governance of
understanding and elucidation over a person s life in the future (Eggers 49).
Text to self The novel the circle is a depiction of the day to day life of an individual. From the
incidence of how Mae got a job to the rest of the scenes in the book show a person having a daily
routine of life (Eggers 112). However, it is important to note that the book is a string of ideas that
mainly concern the social edifice and deconstruction of privacy. Privacy can either be termed to be
personal or corporate but has effects to either of them. This therefore means that something that is
held to be private can be explained to be that which is disclosed. For instance the fact Mae kept
her health condition to be private had its own repercussions (Eggers 199). Therefore, as human
beings, we ought to live an open life and not everything can be termed to ... Show more content on

explained at large and also spells out the dangers of living online and the impossibility of measuring

Stevens Johnson Syndrome Case Study
It is important to differentiate between erythema multiform and Stevens johnson syndrome:
Erythema multiform: target lesion is the classic presentation, and the 3 skin manifestations are
dusky center, inner pale ring, and erythematous outer border. It usually affect age 10 40y/o.
Hypersensitivity reaction is most commonly triggered by infection so treat the underlying cause.
HSV is most common cause so treat with acyclovir. It is a self limiting condition. Stevens Johnson
Syndrome (SJS): is a life threatening reaction. Many manifestations are involved such as
detachment of the epidermis, acute blisters, erosion, severe purulent conjunctivitis, stomatitis and
purpura macules. The main etiology is medications. Usually started as a high fever and flu like
symptoms followed by mucocutaneous symptoms. SJS patients are managed like a burn patient....

deep into dermis. The lesions may appear 4 10 days after exposure to the infection. Sores are
contagious as long as there is fluid weeping from them. No longer contagious when they have
scabbed over or 24 48 hours after starting antibiotic treatment. Education is very important e.g.
frequent hand washing. Cellulitis: Diffuse inflammation of the soft or connective tissue due to
infection, in which a thin, watery exudate spreads through the cleavage planes of interstitial and
tissue spaces. The most common cause of cellulitis in children is Staphylococcus aureus or
Streptococcus pyogenes . The complications include abscess formation (e.g., peritonsillar abscess),

The Story of Bob Marley, Women and their Children Essay
The Story of Bob Marley, Women and their Children
Introduction
The music genre of reggae has become indelibly linked with artist Bob Marley. To this day,
nearly two decades after his death from cancer, Bob s legacy lives on in his popular songs of
oppression, racial strife and resistance. Yet, his heritage is also carried on by the people who he
touched. Like any rock star, famed musician or celebrity, women surrounded him wherever he went.
That Bob was not a one woman man was common knowledge, says Don Taylor, though Bob had
been married to Rita Anderson throughout his climb to the top rungs of the musical ladder (Taylor).
The purpose of this paper is to explore the details of Bob s marriage to Rita, his longstanding
relationship with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bob was said to be very strict with the trio, which consisted of Rita, her cousin Constantine Dream
Walker, and Marlene Precious Gifford, to the point where the group came to dislike him (White).
Much to Rita s dismay however, Bunny pointed out that Bob was in love with her. Soon after, Bob
started sending her love notes. Rita was confused by this display of emotion since Bob held a strict
air in public. She approached him with her confusion, and the result was a two hour long discussion
that brought the two closer together.
During one discussion, Bob explained his night visions of duppies, or ghosts, to Rita.
Because the girl vehemently disbelieved him, he invited her to stay with him in his bed to witness
the apparitions. Rita accepted the offer, and did indeed witness the specters Bob had so accurately
described, but a sexual relationship was not consummated at that time (White).
By then, Rita was still living with her stern aunt. But that didn t prevent Rita from offering her
lover a place to stay. Bob accepted, though he was forced to sneak in after her cousin went to
sleep and leave before anyone awoke. Furthermore, Bob had to share a bed with Rita and her
cousin, and be careful not to awake Sharon, whose crib remained close to the bed. Eventually,
Viola discovered the nocturnal happenings between the lovers. Thinking that Bob could act as
Sharon s father figure, Viola invited Bob to live with Rita in a shed behind the house.

The Interpretation Of Tempo, Dynamics And Expression...
The interpretation of Tempo, Dynamics and Expression through Instrumentation in three recordings
of Vittorio Monti s Czardas
Vittorio Monti s famous virtuosic piece Czardas has been arranged for many instruments over the
years. Being a percussionist and having played this piece I was interested in how this piece would
vary in terms of tempo, dynamics and expression due to instrumentation. I chose to compare three
recordings: one by violinist Frank Kim accompanied by piano as this represents the piece as it was
originally written for piano and violin. Frank Kim performs it with a lot of expression and extremes
of dynamic and tempo more typical of the romantic period; The Horseholm Percussion and

The Italian composer Vittorio Monti was born in 1868 in Naples. He attended the Conservatoire
of San Pietro a Majella where he studied composition and violin, as well as playing mandolin.
When he was in his thirty s he was asked to conduct in Paris for the Lamourex Orchestra, during
this period Monti composed a number of operas and ballets such as Noel de Pierrot. In 1904 he
wrote what is probably his most famous piece, Czardas, which he based on the Hungarian folk
dance called Csardas. Although originally composed for solo violin and piano there have been
many arrangements for numerous instruments over the years. Czardas or Hungarian Czardas is a
national dance of Hungary for couples; it is written in simple time and involves forceful
syncopated rhythms. The dance starts off with a slow section called the Lassu and is followed by
a fast section called the Friss.
Monti begins his piece at a slow, broad speed marked largo this represents the lassu from the
dance. In the violin (Monti, 2015) recording the notes are very legato and there is a lot of vibrato
to add extra expression, colour and phrasing to the music. In Cambridge Companion to the violin it
states that vibrato was used...as an expressive ornament (Stowell, 1992) and used mainly for long
notes at the end of a phrase. Spohr states that there are three types of vibrato: slow for sustained
passionate melodies; accelerating for

What is the effect of patient education on adolescents with cardiac disease transitioning to adult
care? Adolescents with heart disease have many health issues with a lifelong need for cardiology
follow ups. The transition that young adults go through when changing into adult care is not easy
or simple for the nurses and the patients as well as their families. Many adolescents don t know
about their own cardiac history whether it is their diagnoses, catheterization procedures, surgery or
their medications. Caring for adult patients can be difficult for pediatric nurses. As adult patients
age in the pediatric setting, the risk for complications increases exponentially which can complicate
their care. Even though these patients are adults and in the pediatric setting, nurses can be there to
provide them with the training that can help increase the patient s independence when they move
on to adult cardiac care (Anton, 2016, p.e1).

Trait Oriented Personality And Personality Traits
Trait Oriented Personality Trait oriented personality theorists suggest that personality is an internal
trait is born and breed within the individual. Gordon Allport a psychologist categorized the excess
of 40,000 words in the dictionary that describe personality traits in 1936. Allport separated these
personality traits into cardinal traits, central traits and secondary traits. These traits each affect the
individual in different ways throughout their life. Cardinal traits dominate throughout a lifetime
such as an individual is boisterous. Central traits Allport theorizes these traits develop overtime as
each individual develops their own moral compass, intelligent, honest and shy all would be
considered central traits according to Allport s theory. Allport s final category is called secondary
traits these traits pertain to limited situations and are predictable to similar situations however can
be out of character for an individual s day to day life, for instance, getting stuck in unpredicted
traffic that causes one to be very late and take an unexplained amount of time to dissipate. This
traffic situation may cause a usually calm individual to act irrational, this behavior is likely to occur
in other unpredictable situation such as long lines and large crowds. Sixteen Personality Factors
Building upon or perhaps I should say paring down Allport s theory Raymond Cattell reduced the
more than four thousand personality traits identified by Allport.

The Status of Women in the Work Force After the Fall of Communism in Eastern Europe
The fall of communism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union marked the end of an era
in which official ideology and state policy often masked the reality of citizens lives. This
contradiction was particularly acute for women, a group that the Soviet model of communism was
intended to emancipate (Basu, 1995; Bystydzienski, 1992; Corrin, 1992; Einhorn, 1993;
Millarand and Wolchik, 1994; Nelson and Chowdhury, 1994; Rueshchemeyer, 1994). Under the
guise of Marxist Leninist ideology, women were accorded an equal right to work and to
participate in the building of socialism. The Soviet model, which was imposed to a greater or
lesser extent on all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women consequently suffered from feelings of exhaustion, guilt, and inadequacy towards their
children, not to mention low levels of career satisfaction.
Western scholars and observers hailed the transition toward democracy as a liberating forcefor
women living under communist rule. These changes, however, have not automatically brought an
expansion of rights and opportunities for women. In fact alarming trends emerging throughout the
post communist region reveal that women stand to lose many of the rights to which they were
formerly accustomed. Women are not well represented in the new democratic political structures.
And, in demonstrating their opposition to Communist policies, new democratic leaders are passing
legislation which curtails reproductive rights and removes many of the social safety nets that
women and children have come to rely upon. At the same time, increasing unemployment has led
enterprises to shed labor and women have usually been the first to go (Commander and Coricelli,
1994; Corrin, 1992; Einhorn, 1993; Nelson and Chowdhury, 1994; Rueschemeyer, 1994; Scheppele,
1995; Slay, 1994).
The present research is concerned with this reevaluation of woman as worker in the post communist
countries. Are some countries better able to maintain female participation in the work force? Are
women leaving the work force voluntarily or are they being pushed? And, what are the
determinants of the relative participation of women in the work

Essay on Stress
Stress
(spring 1997)
At one time or another, most people experience stress. The term stress has been used to describe
a variety of negative feelings and reactions that accompany threatening or challenging situations.
However, not all stress reactions are negative. A certain amount of stress is actually necessary for
survival. For example, birth is one of the most stressful experiences of life. The high level of
hormones released during birth, which are also involved in the stress response, are believed to
prepare the newborn infant for adaptation to the challenges of life outside the womb. These
biological responses to stress make the newborn more alert promoting the bonding process and, by
extension, the child s physical survival. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hans Selye (1982) points out that few people define the concept of stress in the same way or even
bother to attempt a clear cut definition. According to Selye, an important aspect of stress is that a
wide variety of dissimilar situations are capable of producing the stress response such as fatigue,
effort, pain, fear, and even success. This has led to several definitions of stress, each of which
highlights different aspects of stress. One of the most comprehensive models of stress is the
Biopsychosocial Model of Stress (Bernard amp; Krupat, 1994). According to the Biopsychosocial
Model of Stress, stress involves three components: an external component, an internal component,
and the interaction between the external and internal components.
The external component of the Biopsychosocial Model of stress involves environmental events
that precede the recognition of stress and can elicit a stress response. A previously mentioned, the
stress reaction is elicited by a wide variety of psychosocial stimuli that are either physiologically or
emotionally threatening and disrupt the body s homeostasis (Cannon, 1932). We are usually aware
of stressors when we feel conflicted, frustrated, or pressured. Most of the common stressors fall
within four broad categories: personal, social/familial, work, and the environment. These stressful
events have been linked to a variety of psychological physical complaints. For example bereavement

Gladwell s Writing Style In Outliers By George Gladwell
Gladwell s overall writing style in Outliers managed to convey his message using formal yet
simple diction and mostly uncomplicated syntax. His writing was symbolic at times, but also
quite literal at others. The book was relatable, memorable, and easy to understand. He uses some
rhetorical devices, such as this polysyndeton: he s tall and gawky and sixteen years old
(Gladwell 42). He also used other literary devices, such as dialogue: it came out of the blue
(Gladwell 248). These devices added complexity and depth and also caught my attention. They
are key to writing a book that keeps the reader interested and helps them pay attention to and
remember key details. The impact of organizing the book into Part 1: Opportunity and Part 2:
Legacy was that it showed there was a clear division between the two parts of achieving success.
Having this distinction helps the reader to learn each concept and in the end, be able to
understand the overall theme. For opportunity, he describes how opportunities need to emerge in
order for success to be reached, such as how [t]heir world their culture and generation and family
history gave them the greatest of opportunities (Gladwell 158) in the case of many people.
Gladwell distinguishes the two parts of the book in part two, saying that so far, we have seen that
success arises out of the steady accumulation of advantages... [that] all make a significant
difference in how well you do in the world. The question for the second part

Identifying The Detection Of Human And Non Human Decisions
1 Abstract Present work targets the detection of humans in images and videos. Our focus is on
developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional
feature vectors that support high accuracy human/non human decisions. To test our feature sets we
adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify
each possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main
contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients
(HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over
dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at
fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust
to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image
illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern
parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station

Second Great Awakening (c.1795 1830) was experienced across the country due to the
advancement in the nation s economic growth. Preachers often spoke emotionally about their
message to increase the reaction in people. Preaches proclaimed that the power of eternal
salvation is in the hands of the person to decided to be saved and avoid eternal damnation. This
ideals were closest related/influenced by Arminianism which sinfulness is a choice rather than a
destiny in which it appealed to more people because of its optimistic outlook. The First Great
Awakening changed religious ideologyby promoting Calvinist ideals and individualism amongst
people; The Second Great Awakening promoted salvation and damnation at the expense of the
person true willingness to be saved, positive female roles in the church and the infusion of lower
classes with higher classes; both transforming the methods of worship to become more emotionally

Compare And Contrast Rear Window
In both the movie, Rear Window, and the short story, It had to be Murder, there are numerous
similarities and differences that are noticed. Overall it is a story of a man that is wheelchair
bound at home who passes time by people watching. When people watching, the man named Jeff
notices unusual things taking place in a neighbors apartment. The neighbor named Mr. Thorwald
has an ill wife at home that is bed bound. The narrator Jeff one day realises that the wife Ann, is
no longer in bed and that Mr. Thorwald was beginning to act unusual.A big similarity in the movie
and the story is that Jeff is convinced that Mr. Thorwald murdered his sick wife. In both the movie
and story jeff tries to convince himself, and his friend thats a detective... Show more content on

An example of this is when Mr.Thorwald breaks into the main character Jeff s apartment and
tries to attack him. In the short story Thorwald catches on eventually to who knows about his
crime, finds out where Jeff lives, quietly breaks into his home and tries to shoot Jeff. This was
very intense and suspense full because from Jeffs point of view we did not know who was
breaking into the house, and what they would do, He d be up in a minute. He must be on the
stairs now, although I couldn t hear him. Not even a creak. A creak would have been a reliec,
would have placed him. This was like being shut up in the dark with the silence of a gliding,
coiling cobra somewhere around you (Hitchcock, 1954). Because we did not know who the
invader was and what weapon they could of had, we did not know if the bust would protect him.
This tension was executed slightly different in the movie. In the movie, we see the man walk up
the stairs, we are not aware of a weapon but once thorwald breaks in and starts to yell at jeff we
see that there is not gun. Jeff in this situation chooses to protect himself by using his camera flash
to stun the man (Woolrich, n.d.). This approach seems as if it will not protect him just like the bust
in the movie and we go throughout the scene tense, hoping it will buy jeff time or protect him

Skim Board History
Riding on a skateboard that is longer and wider than the normal skateboard is commonly known
as long boarding. People have actively starting long boards as they offer greater durability,
stability and traction. In addition, the axles have a different geometric factor than the skateboard.
The popular length of a long board ranges from 32 to 60 inches. They are more suitable than
skateboards for cruising, as the larger wheels provide a smoother ride. These enable longboards to
have varied functions. Some of these are transportation, slaloming and free riding, riding downhill,
dancing and spinning. Globe longboards in UK is a relatively new phenomenon, though they have

Roger Whetmore Case
In early May, 4299, the four defendants and Roger Whetmore entered a limestone cavern. A
landslide occurred while the group was far from the cavern s entrance, trapping the spelunkers
inside. The only known entrance was the one blocked by the landslide. When the group failed to
return home to their families, the Secretary of the Speluncean Society was contacted, and a rescue
team was sent out immediately. The group of spelunkers had only brought very few supplies. New
landslides caused the rescue to be significantly delayed than originally planned. On the twentieth
day it was discovered the group had radios within the cave, and communication was achieved. The
men were eventually rescued thirty two days after the first landslide had occurred. After their
rescue, the defendants were charged with the murder of their fellow spelunker, Roger Whetmore. It
was discovered on the twenty third day the group had killed and devoured their fellow spelunker.
The verdict of the initial trial found the defendants guilty, and the four men were sentenced to be
hung. The jury members requested the sentence be reduced to six months in jail. While the
defendants are guilty of murdering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in the cave, it was discovered that Whetmore had been murdered and consumed on the twenty
third day. This leaves nine days to come up with a story approved by each group member. The last
contact between the trapped men and the rescue camp had been the group asking for legal advice
about the consequences of eating one of their own. This suggests that the men knew there would be

Measure For Measure, And A Short Account Of The Destruction
The works discussed thus far illustrate that one must possess a strong sense of determination and a
lasting endurance in order to achieve a sense of freedom and independence from others. With this
independence they are able to discover not only their identity, but also their role in society. The
works Heptameron, Measure for Measure, and, A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies not
only highlight this notion, but also demonstrate the advancements in which one achieves when one
goes against the grain. In which involves one finding their sense of identity. In the work

discovered. With this exposure they realize that in order to defend in what they believe to be is
just, they must take action. In addition these works demonstrate that freedom is not a given but
something for which one must strive. Silence is the greatest inhibitor of progression. Silence not
only inhibits one from freely expressing themselves, but it also prevents one in expressing
themselves freely. This silence was seen in the collection of stories named Heptameron. In this
collection of stories, one story in particular deals with this idea of silence. This story features a
Prior who tries to use his power to seduce a nun. The Prior, being tired of trying to express his
love for the nun, attempted to touch her breast. When she pushed the Priors hands from her
breast he responded, What business has a nun to know that she has breast? In response to this
she replied, and I am very certain that neither you nor anyone else shall ever touch them (35). The
tone in which Prior speaks suggest he is coming from a more of a dominant role. He being a male
figure only adds to him to feel entitled. Thus only displaying how significant the nuns actions were.
Not only does she physically push away the Prior, but she also retaliates by stating that he has no

Budgeting and Compliance Issues in Healthcare
Budgeting and Compliance Budgeting and compliance issues are very important to healthcare.
Budgeting ensures the quality of care given to patients, what technologies the hospital has
available, and how staff gets paid, determining raises and benefits. Waste of time and supplies are
damaging to the budget. Compliance issues are what determine the standards of care given to
patients. They also set standards for safety of both patients and staff. Non compliance can cause
fines for the facility and loss of accreditation, which in turn causes losses of reimbursements from
Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance. Safety issues can cause people to get hurt and, in turn, cause
lawsuits for individuals and the organization. The costof lawsuits and employee injuries can be very
damaging to a budget. Healthcare workers also stand the chance of consequences in
noncompliance issues. Fines, legal consequences, termination, and lose of professional licenses
can occur. Both operational and capital budgets are made up by the CFO, Chief Financial
Officer, and approved by the CEO, Chief Executive Officer, and the Board of Directors.
(Operational Review of the Health Care Corporation of St Johns, 2002) The operational budget is
based on projected costs, such as staff, supplies, administration, and technology costs, and projected
revenue from patient services and investments. They are usually made up for the organization s
fiscal year. The capital budget is a long term budget that is based on

Asian American Stereotypes
Throughout the semester we have learned that Asian Americans have gone through many hurdles
and roadblocks in order to establish an identity for themselves. Although these social stereotypes
have been established by other people, Asians didn t allow this to define who they were as people.
Either its projected by films, events or social media, we are able to see Asian Americans taking a
stand with one another. Through popular Asian AmericanCulture such as Beauty Pageants and films
like Saving Face, we are able to see Asian Americans asserting their power by embracing their social
identities. Through Beauty Pageants we are able to see Asian women truly embracing their

This is seen in beauty pageants as we see race and gender become key factors. Only women are
able to participate in beauty pageants and not men because they aren t permitted to participate.
Also we see that women have to meet a certain percentage of Asian heritage in order to
participate in the event as well. This seclusion discourages Asian males to break out of as well as
set guidelines on what they are able to do. Despite being secluded in events like beauty pageants,
men also have other interests that women don t usually participate in. One interest in particular is
in import cars. This male dominated hobby allows them to show off their masculinity and be
connected with others through the love of cars. Its very rare to see women participate in hobbies
like these because there are no women role models in this hobby. Women aren t acknowledged and
they are usually presumed as girls that look good around the cars. Both Asian men and Female both

The Beliefs Of AristotleMetaphysics And Epistemology
Aristotle Metaphysics and Epistemology
Aristotle claims that the principle of non contradiction [(PNC) the principle that the same attribute
cannot at the same time belong and not belong to the same subject and in the same respect
(Metaphysics, Aristotle, Part 3)] is the most certain of all principles. He further explains that this
is employed in all proofs, on any subject and therefore is the most basic, and the first principle as it
is not derived from anything more basic . Aristotle also claims, unlike Socrates, that the forms
exist on the same level as becoming. Therefore, you can logically assume Socrates metaphysics
is hierarchical in this regard. It is important to note that Aristotle does have a focal point with
regards to metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics goods. Not goods as in products, but goods as
in moral goods. The reason this idea trickles down into other areas of his philosophy is because
this is where he fundamentally disagrees with Socrates on the forms. He even goes as far as to
say This sort of inquiry is, to be sure unwelcome to us, because those who introduced the Forms
(Socrates) were friends of ours; still, it presumably seems better, indeed only right, to destroy even
what is close to us if that is the way to preserve the truth (Nicomachean Ethics, Part 6, The Platonic
Form of the Good). Aristotle also believes in 3 ideas of substance: changeable and perishable
(organisms), changeable and eternal (souls/heavenly bodies), and

The plan I would need in place would first to address her respiratory status and maintain a patent

coughing. I would ask the Cna to help with position changes every 2 hours or more if needed for
comfort for the patient. I would need to do a full assessment at this point if the patient is more
stable. By having the patient deep breath will also help her return to consciousness, (Ahmed,
Latif and Khan, 2013). I would want to keep her comfortable and in as little pain as possible. I
would also want to try to educate her as to when to push for pain medications from her PCA
pump. If there were any family I would want to try to get them involved with the education as
well. The use of an incentive spirometer should be included in the teaching too. I would keep
monitoring the incision site and watching for signs that the patient is in pain. While I was
working on patient education with this patient, I would ask the CAN to do vitals on the 2 postop
patients every 15 minutes for the first hour, reporting abnormal vital signs to myself or the other
R.N. I would also ask the other R.N. if she/ he would do the discharge for that patient, while I

Finding Truth In The Allegory Of The Cave By Plato
The Allegory of the cave is a story written by Plato an ancient philosopher who presented this work
in The Republic to describe the truth about reality. Plato believed that reality and the truth are both
hard to find. One must find knowledge of himself, discovering truth that is a process and to make
known self understanding. Platowrote this story as a discussion between two greek philosophers,
Socrates and Glaucon. Socrates asks Glaucon what would it be like if people lived in the dark
where all they could only see shadows from the fire behind them. One of Plato s first points found
in The Allegory of the Cave is that the pursuit of truthgrants man knowledge of himself. Man can
never force someone into recognizing light and or truth . Socrates says to Glaucon, And supposed
once more, that he is reluctantly dragged up a steep and rugged ascent, and held fast until he s
forced into the presence of the sun himself, is he not likely to be pained and irritated? (Plato 3).
Once someone is introduced the light for the first time it will be difficult to understand truth... Show

It takes both time and effort. Finding truth can be hard and could be hidden in the deepest
darkest of places. In this quote , Socrates says to Glaucon, He will require to grow accustomed to
the sight of the upper world. And first he will see shadows best, next the reflections of me and
other objects in the water, and then the objects themselves; then he will gaze upon the light of the
moon and the stars and the spangled heaven. And he will see the sky and stars by night better than
the sun or the light of the sun by day (Plato 3). It takes time to see truth, but once one does they will
be shocked at what comes with it. Obviously, maturing takes time and more important experience.
Plato already shared with readers that the truth journey must be a personal one. Therefore there is
no set way to gain knowledge, thus, man cannot

The Theme Of Confidence In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Confidence does not always come with intelligence. In To Build a Fire by Jack London, the
unnamed man decides to take on the challenge of traveling through Alaska in negative fifty degree
weather, despite being warned of the dangers. His over confidence has made him fear nothing, not
even nature s toughest challenges. Before this crucial experience he was a cocky and confidence
man, but in the end he learned to not always trust his own thoughts. The crucial moment the man
faces, is when he loses the feeling in his limbs, which leads to the self destruction of his
confidence. This happens because of his over confidence and his lack of experience with this type
of weather. Other readers may argue that the most crucial moment in this story is when the man
tries to make the final run to the town, but collapses during this attempt. They may argue this
because it is seen as the final example of the man s strength, but his outcome had already been

What Challenges Does South Asian Children Face
South Asian children face many challenges while living in Toronto/Canada. The children are
typically adjusted to the lifestyle of their homeland and find it difficult to re adjust to a new
territory. Settling alone in a new place takes a toll on the children as well as the parents. Leaving
everyone/everything in a search for a better life for their kids, parents struggle to thoroughly
manage taking care of their children to the fullest. Parents have one eye open for their extended
familyand one eye open for their kids. As a result, the children fail to have a companion alongside
them at all times and therefore, the children view life negatively. Not taught how to properly handle
a situation, south Asian children face racism, viewing the world with a bad eye, and dealing with
the loss of their friends/family back in their homeland.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is something that will not completely diminish anytime soon. In Toronto/Canada, racism towards
south Asians is strong. Many conspiracies have followed the 9/11 attack in the USA which

differently from the other student s eyes. Bullies pick on weak students and south Asian children
are presumed weak since they do not completely know their identity. Children who have lived in
North America their entire life have had friends and family that have supported them throughout
their young life. South Asians children have travelled down a much harsher path where they had to
leave their loved ones and re adjust to a new life. Affiliations and stereotypes commonly surround
south Asians. As a result, children are seen defending themselves and trying to fit in with the

Foreign Policies Due: October 4, 2012 Modern Syria first gained its independence in 1946,
following many years of violent strife. Before this, the state had been under a French Mandate
and had suffered under a conditional (or more aptly, false) independence, wherein the French
State held veto power over any potential laws introduced by the Syrian people (US Dept. of
State). In 1970, the Baath party came into political power in Syria in yet another bloody coup d

Foreign intervention in the Syrian Civil War will only result in a high price to be paid, mainly the
US loss of support on the international front as well as the financial expenses that the US would
incur if involved militarily. Such civil wars and intrastate conflicts between rebel groups and the
government can be resolved through diplomatic negotiations that can avoid these expenses
(Frieden). The US is not financially secure enough to engage in yet another bloody conflict in the
Middle East, particularly one as convoluted as the one in Syria. The usage of the word convoluted
is significant in that it remains uncertain who the non FSA and who the actual leaders of the
rebellion are. According to Frieden, it is difficult to gather information about who is a part of these
militant groups because they are covert and because terrorist groups have incentives to exaggerate.
Furthermore, should that question and the identities of the FSA be resolved, how would we
distinguish the innocent from the terrorists? Both important actors in these uprisings, the Syrian
government, and the Free Syrian Army and other rebel fighters, have participated in what may be
considered international war crimes that have resulted in a multitude of civilian deaths. The

Primary Care Access Essay
Primary Care Access
In today s health care environment many factors contribute to quality care. As a medical practice
manager it is important to provide the best medical service for patients in addition to excellent
levels of service. Appointment scheduling is a very important aspect of a smooth running medical
practice. Appointment cancellation, no shows, and long waiting time by patients have a negative
impact on the efficient running of the practice not only in lost revenue but the practices
professional reputation as well (Kruse 2010).

The 3NA system is also easy to measure and compare to other practices (Solomon 2003).
The average length of time that patients make a request for an appointment and the days between
the times of the appointment day is used for third available appointments which include new
patients, routine exams and return visits. By using the third next available rather than the next
available appointment provides a more accurate indication of appointment availability. According to
the Institute for Health Improvement (2011), An appointment may be open at the time of a request
because of a cancellation or other unexpected event. Using the third next available appointment
eliminates these chance occurrences from the measure of availability (para. 1).
The main goal of using and measuring patient appointment flow is to decrease number of days to
third next available appointment to zero days (Para. 2). Appointments for primary care will be the
same day and for specialty care the decreased number of days will be 2 days. According to
Solomon (2003) the process for scheduling the third available appointment includes the following:

Changing The Changing Of The Seasons
Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons

Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the
freezing snow of winter. Many people vary in which seasonthey relish the most, but I enjoy three

that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the
chilling breeze of fall, or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall,
and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like
white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with
family and friends. I look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow
and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to
protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the
roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a

This situation can be explained by Chinese mood. Wang (2010) indicated that the cultural background, policy and economic conditions of the country have suffered Chinese managers to confuse the existed management styles, which requires a new way to get accustomed to modern market. Moreover, some internal and external factors should be considered between Chinese style and western style. Paternalism style is used widely in Chinese state owned company. Firstly, the influence of management style in China is competition. Obviously, as a most potential international market, more and more western companies enter the local market, like Wal Mart. The external retail companies including Hong Kong companies have possessed almost retail market in China. In this circumstance, small sized private company cannot compete with magnates; only the state owned enterprise can rely on the policy to rival magnates in this area. The reason is that western large scale companies have developed over many years; some of them have even existed for many centuries, such as Mercedes Benz. It has long history, 110 years, in the automotive industry, and has a mature management style and company culture. China also has own automotive industry named Shanghai Automotive, which has been established 30 years, but the quantity of sales are better than Mercedes Benz in China, because the company imported the advanced technology and brand, such as Volkswagen; and it ... • 6. The Case Of Brinegar V. United States 1.Probable cause is a set of facts surrounding a specific circumstances that leads a reasonable person to believe an individual is committing, has committed or is about to commit a crime. Probable cause is required in the instances of an arrest, search and seizure and the issuance of a warrant. To ESTABILISH reasonable cause the officer can use any trustworthy information. For example the office could use his/her experience, informant information, first hand observations or knowledge, victim reports, anonymous tips, or hearsay. In the case of Brinegar v. United States, the petitioner claimed that the arresting officer violated his 4th amendment rights and illegally search his car. In the search and siezure the officer found that the petitioner was transporting intoxicating liquor into Oaklahoma, which is a direct violation of law. The courts found that the arresting office had arrested the petitioner on the same violation several months earlier and this was enough reasonable cause to conduct the search ans seizure. Reasonable suspicion is different from probable cause as reasonable suspicion allows an officer to temporarily detain a person if the officer suspects the person of committing a crime, previously committed a crime, or is about to commit a crime. This will allow the officer the time to conduct an investigation that may allow him/her to find the facts that are required to arrest per probable cause. Therefore, reasonable suspicion is thought of to be a hunch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast Jefferson And Hamilton s View Of... The original political parties, Federalist and Democratic Republicans, in America differed in their view of strong federal government vs strong state government. One leader that helped run the Federalist was Alexander Hamilton and Hamilton believed in a strong federal government. Hamilton s plan was to pay off all state debt, pay off all the bonds, and to form a national bank, and taxes. Which leads to why Hamilton believed we should have a strong federal government. The federal government would help keep order among the people and unite struggling states. Hamilton s view of the federal government is it had implied powers are powers that are suggested but not directly given to the government. Hamilton s used the idea of implied powers to help justify a national bank. Hamilton argued that the Constitution gave Congress the power to issue money and regulate trade, and a national bank would clearly help the government carry out these responsibilities. Thus, Hamilton believed that creating a national bank is within the constitutional powers of congress. Hamilton wanted a national bank not only because we were in debt from the war against Great Britain, but also stimulate the economy, by having a more stable paper currency. In contrast, the Democratic Republican... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That s why they wanted a strong state government to help advocate state s right and citizens rights. • 8. Conservative Views Of The Republican Party Of 2016 I ve spent a lot of time recently reading conservative explanations of Why I support Donald Trump. Interestingly they often don t articulate any policy issues, but rather attack the alternatives. I read one particularly weak argument (bereft of any facts) that said If Bernie wins we ll have a socialist president, and that is really scary! It is this subject that I d like to address: the unreasonable, rampant fear of socialismin America today. The Republican party of 2016 is hard to define, but one characteristic that stands out is their abject hatred (or fear of) socialism. They lashed out at the Affordable Care Act and president Obama as being socialist and have made the claim that it is greatest current threat to America. Really? Socialism. There are not many words that are more feared and/or hated in America during the last 8 years. It s the monster that hides under your bed when you re young. You re not quite sure what the monster looks like, but you know it is something to be afraid of. You ve watched too many Friday the 13th movies. People can t explain the monster, but they know it s under there. You ve never risked taking the time to look under your bed for it, and instead have relied on the rants and whispers of other kids who ensure you the monsters are very real. Socialism. The word conjures up views and ideas of an intrusive Big Brother. They will tell us where to work, what to wear, what to buy and how to think. We ll wake up one day ... With this, CPA s are in a unique position to bridge the gap in reporting of fraud committed against elders, as they are a trusted source for their clients. CPA s should look to take on a financial elder planning role when providing services to the elder demographic. Although this role is atypical for a CPA, they are in a position to do so as they have a high amount of knowledge about the client. One of the best measures CPA s can provide is awareness to the subject. CPA s can begin by ensuring the elder is well informed about common scams and risks associated with particular activities as the fraudsters consistently look to take advantage of a changing environment. However, despite implementing preventative measures, the fraudsters may still prevail with a growing complexity in their schemes. Therefore, it is beneficial for CPA s to recognize the signs of potential abuse to protect their client s interests. Red Flags At the root of many financial elder abuse cases are fraudsters who have built relationships with the elder and later took advantage of the elder s trust placed in them. • 10. Essay about The Missile Defense System of the United States The Missile Defense System of the United States Abstract When Ronald Reagan was in the Presidency, he and his staff came up with the idea for a missile defense system that would defend the country in the event of a nuclear missile attack. This system was named Star Wars and the basic principal behind it was that it would be a shield that covered all fifty states. However, government officials soon realized that Reagan s defense system was impossible to build, so the program was dropped, but the idea to defend the country against a missile attack stuck around. Today, the U. S. Government is trying to build a new, more realistic missile defense system. However, not all the problems have been worked out, and the U. S. Government ... Another one of its missions is to develop and maintain the option to deploy a cost effective, operationally effective, and Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty compliant system that could protect the states against a country that may pose a threat. The most important part of this is definitely the protection of all the states against a missile attack. In order to make a defense system that would work, the National Missile Defense would need to have a system that meets the missile threat when it s released, detect a launch of a missile, track it using radars and destroy the warhead above the atmosphere of earth (National missile defense, 2000). History The new missile defense program started in 1993 after the Department of Defense decided to conduct a review that would select the strategy, force structure, and modernization programs for America s defense in the post Cold War era. When the U. S. S. R. broke apart, it was decided that there was not much of a threat from China or the former Soviet Union. However, it was uncertain how easy it would be for a third world country to come into possession of long range missiles. In response to their uncertainty, the Defense Department built the National Missile Defense in order to develop and keep the ability to launch a missile defense if a threat emerged (National missile defense, 2000). In 1994, Congress called for a great acceleration in the development of the missile defense system. This call represented a sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s important to realize that within 16 months of office he had great foreign relations with Great Britain, and he had a mindset to ban slavery in the new western territories, though he was a slave owner. The Status of Women in the Work Force After the Fall of Communism in Eastern Europe The fall of communism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union marked the end of an era in which official ideology and state policy often masked the reality of citizens lives. This contradiction was particularly acute for women, a group that the Soviet model of communism was intended to emancipate (Basu, 1995; Bystydzienski, 1992; Corrin, 1992; Einhorn, 1993; Millarand and Wolchik, 1994; Nelson and Chowdhury, 1994; Rueshchemeyer, 1994). Women consequently suffered from feelings of exhaustion, guilt, and inadequacy towards their children, not to mention low levels of career satisfaction. Western scholars and observers hailed the transition toward democracy as a liberating forcefor women living under communist rule. These changes, however, have not automatically brought an expansion of rights and opportunities for women. In fact alarming trends emerging throughout the post communist region reveal that women stand to lose many of the rights to which they were formerly accustomed. Women are not well represented in the new democratic political structures. And, in demonstrating their opposition to Communist policies, new democratic leaders are passing legislation which curtails reproductive rights and removes many of the social safety nets that women and children have come to rely upon. At the same time, increasing unemployment has led enterprises to shed labor and women have usually been the first to go (Commander and Coricelli, 1994; Corrin, 1992; Einhorn, 1993; Nelson and Chowdhury, 1994; Rueschemeyer, 1994; Scheppele, 1995; Slay, 1994). • 34. Essay on Stress Stress (spring 1997) At one time or another, most people experience stress. The term stress has been used to describe a variety of negative feelings and reactions that accompany threatening or challenging situations. However, not all stress reactions are negative. A certain amount of stress is actually necessary for survival. For example, birth is one of the most stressful experiences of life. The high level of hormones released during birth, which are also involved in the stress response, are believed to prepare the newborn infant for adaptation to the challenges of life outside the womb. These biological responses to stress make the newborn more alert promoting the bonding process and, by extension, the child s physical survival. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hans Selye (1982) points out that few people define the concept of stress in the same way or even bother to attempt a clear cut definition. According to Selye, an important aspect of stress is that a wide variety of dissimilar situations are capable of producing the stress response such as fatigue, effort, pain, fear, and even success. This has led to several definitions of stress, each of which highlights different aspects of stress. One of the most comprehensive models of stress is the Biopsychosocial Model of Stress (Bernard amp; Krupat, 1994). According to the Biopsychosocial Model of Stress, stress involves three components: an external component, an internal component, and the interaction between the external and internal components. The external component of the Biopsychosocial Model of stress involves environmental events that precede the recognition of stress and can elicit a stress response. A previously mentioned, the stress reaction is elicited by a wide variety of psychosocial stimuli that are either physiologically or emotionally threatening and disrupt the body s homeostasis (Cannon, 1932). We are usually aware of stressors when we feel conflicted, frustrated, or pressured. Most of the common stressors fall within four broad categories: personal, social/familial, work, and the environment. These stressful events have been linked to a variety of psychological physical complaints. For example bereavement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Gladwell s Writing Style In Outliers By George Gladwell Gladwell s overall writing style in Outliers managed to convey his message using formal yet simple diction and mostly uncomplicated syntax. His writing was symbolic at times, but also quite literal at others. The book was relatable, memorable, and easy to understand. He uses some rhetorical devices, such as this polysyndeton: he s tall and gawky and sixteen years old (Gladwell 42). He also used other literary devices, such as dialogue: it came out of the blue (Gladwell 248). These devices added complexity and depth and also caught my attention. They are key to writing a book that keeps the reader interested and helps them pay attention to and remember key details. The impact of organizing the book into Part 1: Opportunity and Part 2: Legacy was that it showed there was a clear division between the two parts of achieving success. Having this distinction helps the reader to learn each concept and in the end, be able to understand the overall theme. For opportunity, he describes how opportunities need to emerge in order for success to be reached, such as how [t]heir world their culture and generation and family history gave them the greatest of opportunities (Gladwell 158) in the case of many people. Our focus is on developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional feature vectors that support high accuracy human/non human decisions. To test our feature sets we adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. In the short story Thorwald catches on eventually to who knows about his crime, finds out where Jeff lives, quietly breaks into his home and tries to shoot Jeff. This was very intense and suspense full because from Jeffs point of view we did not know who was breaking into the house, and what they would do, He d be up in a minute. He must be on the stairs now, although I couldn t hear him. Not even a creak. A creak would have been a reliec, would have placed him. In the movie, we see the man walk up the stairs, we are not aware of a weapon but once thorwald breaks in and starts to yell at jeff we see that there is not gun. The Beliefs Of AristotleMetaphysics And Epistemology Aristotle Metaphysics and Epistemology Aristotle claims that the principle of non contradiction [(PNC) the principle that the same attribute cannot at the same time belong and not belong to the same subject and in the same respect (Metaphysics, Aristotle, Part 3)] is the most certain of all principles. He further explains that this is employed in all proofs, on any subject and therefore is the most basic, and the first principle as it is not derived from anything more basic . Aristotle also claims, unlike Socrates, that the forms exist on the same level as becoming. Therefore, you can logically assume Socrates metaphysics is hierarchical in this regard. It is important to note that Aristotle does have a focal point with regards to metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics goods. Not goods as in products, but goods as in moral goods. The reason this idea trickles down into other areas of his philosophy is because this is where he fundamentally disagrees with Socrates on the forms. He even goes as far as to say This sort of inquiry is, to be sure unwelcome to us, because those who introduced the Forms (Socrates) were friends of ours; still, it presumably seems better, indeed only right, to destroy even what is close to us if that is the way to preserve the truth (Nicomachean Ethics, Part 6, The Platonic Form of the Good). Finding Truth In The Allegory Of The Cave By Plato The Allegory of the cave is a story written by Plato an ancient philosopher who presented this work in The Republic to describe the truth about reality. Plato believed that reality and the truth are both hard to find. One must find knowledge of himself, discovering truth that is a process and to make known self understanding. Platowrote this story as a discussion between two greek philosophers, Socrates and Glaucon. Socrates asks Glaucon what would it be like if people lived in the dark where all they could only see shadows from the fire behind them. One of Plato s first points found in The Allegory of the Cave is that the pursuit of truthgrants man knowledge of himself. Man can never force someone into recognizing light and or truth . Socrates says to Glaucon, And supposed once more, that he is reluctantly dragged up a steep and rugged ascent, and held fast until he s forced into the presence of the sun himself, is he not likely to be pained and irritated? Parents have one eye open for their extended familyand one eye open for their kids. As a result, the children fail to have a companion alongside them at all times and therefore, the children view life negatively. Not taught how to properly handle a situation, south Asian children face racism, viewing the world with a bad eye, and dealing with the loss of their friends/family back in their homeland.... Many conspiracies have followed the 9/11 attack in the USA which represented the south Asians for it. In a school environment, south Asian children are viewed differently from the other student s eyes. Bullies pick on weak students and south Asian children are presumed weak since they do not completely know their identity. South Asians children have travelled down a much harsher path where they had to leave their loved ones and re adjust to a new life. Affiliations and stereotypes commonly surround south Asians. • 50. Of Syria and Civil Wars Virinder Kaur POLS 202 01: International Relations Reaction Paper #1: Of Syrian Wars and US Foreign Policies Due: October 4, 2012 Modern Syria first gained its independence in 1946, following many years of violent strife. Before this, the state had been under a French Mandate and had suffered under a conditional (or more aptly, false) independence, wherein the French State held veto power over any potential laws introduced by the Syrian people (US Dept. of State). In 1970, the Baath party came into political power in Syria in yet another bloody coup d Г©tat, with Minister of Defense, Hafiz al Assad, taking up the mantle of President (US Dept. of State). He would remain in power up until his death in the year 2000. This would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Foreign intervention in the Syrian Civil War will only result in a high price to be paid, mainly the US loss of support on the international front as well as the financial expenses that the US would incur if involved militarily. Such civil wars and intrastate conflicts between rebel groups and the government can be resolved through diplomatic negotiations that can avoid these expenses (Frieden). The US is not financially secure enough to engage in yet another bloody conflict in the Middle East, particularly one as convoluted as the one in Syria. The usage of the word convoluted is significant in that it remains uncertain who the non FSA and who the actual leaders of the rebellion are. According to Frieden, it is difficult to gather information about who is a part of these militant groups because they are covert and because terrorist groups have incentives to exaggerate. Furthermore, should that question and the identities of the FSA be resolved, how would we distinguish the innocent from the terrorists? Both important actors in these uprisings, the Syrian government, and the Free Syrian Army and other rebel fighters, have participated in what may be considered international war crimes that have resulted in a multitude of civilian deaths. • 52. Primary Care Access Essay Primary Care Access In today s health care environment many factors contribute to quality care. As a medical practice manager it is important to provide the best medical service for patients in addition to excellent levels of service. Appointment scheduling is a very important aspect of a smooth running medical practice. Appointment cancellation, no shows, and long waiting time by patients have a negative impact on the efficient running of the practice not only in lost revenue but the practices professional reputation as well (Kruse 2010). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 3NA system is also easy to measure and compare to other practices (Solomon 2003). The average length of time that patients make a request for an appointment and the days between the times of the appointment day is used for third available appointments which include new patients, routine exams and return visits. By using the third next available rather than the next available appointment provides a more accurate indication of appointment availability. According to the Institute for Health Improvement (2011), An appointment may be open at the time of a request because of a cancellation or other unexpected event. Using the third next available appointment eliminates these chance occurrences from the measure of availability (para. 1). The main goal of using and measuring patient appointment flow is to decrease number of days to third next available appointment to zero days (Para. 2). Appointments for primary care will be the same day and for specialty care the decreased number of days will be 2 days. According to Solomon (2003) the process for scheduling the third available appointment includes the following: Analytical Tool Used One method that is use to analyze processes is the Shewhart cycle of plan do study act (PDSA). • 53. Changing The Changing Of The Seasons Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons make the environment bloom while other seasons put the environment to rest for a period of time. Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the freezing snow of winter. Many people vary in which seasonthey relish the most, but I enjoy three of the four seasons Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time during the summer, fall, and winter that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the chilling breeze of fall, or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall, and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with family and friends. I look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down the icy slopes of Main Street. I make my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise almost as if someone was using a jackhammer. They were finally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the setting of contraception and sexual healthcare, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) believe that policies supporting adolescent consent and protecting adolescent confidentiality are in the best interests of adolescents (AAP, 2014). The contraception pill is significant in reducing pregnancyrates, but can be contentious when it comes to ethical, moral and religious views. It can also cause distress with parents when they find out if parental consent is not required. This can be challenging for nurses who do not understand state and federal laws and how they apply to minors and the use of birth control. The study states that, Nearly half of US high school students report ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
