Personal Cultural Heritage
Reflection and knowledge of one's cultural heritage allows for a counselor to embark on a path of
self–awareness This awareness can lead to understand the worldviews others that are similar and
different from you. Understanding one's worldview holds the potential of being an effective
culturally competent counselor. In this cultural autobiographic essay, there will be an exploration of
my cultural heritage and its impact on my own beliefs regarding counseling practices. There will
also be an exploration of a counseling strategy in order to address any barriers toward developing the
awareness, knowledge, and skills to be an effective culturally competent mental health counselor.

For example, the most salient aspects of my cultural heritage that have resulted in discrimination and
oppression include trauma associated with race. The trauma of racial discrimination would have
resulted in my grandparents' children receiving an inferior educational and the possible experience
of violence Tolnay (2003) discusses how many African American southerners who migrated to more
northern states received low levels of educational attainment than their northern–born counterparts.
This fact directly aligns with the reasons why my grandparents moved to California. My
grandmother perceived the impact of desegregation on her children's self–esteem as detrimental and
being integrated into White schools would not allow them to achieve higher levels of educational
attainment than her. Understanding this aspect of my family's cultural heritage has allowed me to
see that I have received overwhelming support to complete various educational degrees, and
experience related advantages, that my grandmother had hoped for. Alternatively, my family's
religion/spirituality has been beneficial to my family, and being of Christian faith has offered my
family a particular type of privilege. Practicing Christianity, as opposed to any other type of religion,
allowed my family the privilege of moving into a community that supported my

My Cultural Heritage
Cultural heritage is used to describe a way of living in a certain community. My cultural heritage
is a white American with a little touch of southern, Cajun. From living in the main state of the
community, Louisiana, I grew up learning the ways of life as a Cajun. Before writing this paper
I wasn't even sure if I had a cultural background being that I am just white. However, I've learned
that being southern or Cajun is a culture that I did not even recognize. My spiritual beliefs as a
southern and plenty of other southern people is a Roman Catholic or Christian. Some might
know the southern states as the Bible belt. Church is a really big part of my culture and following
the word of god. This is part of my culture that I am proud of but it also can cause some issues with
stereotypes. Overall, I am proud of my culture, but being a white American recently has caused
issues regarding race. White southern people have been stereotyped as races, or judgmental
towards anything or anyone that does not follow the bible. However, this is not true. Plenty of
white Americans from the south are not races or judgmental towards different communities of
people. The reason a lot of people of different cultures believe this is because of the history of
what happened in the southern states and dealing with other races. Also, how involved we are
with the churches and the religion we follow. This is one thing that I am not proud of about my
culture. I don't want to be viewed as these stereotypes just because of where and how I grew up. I
find this being an issue of not only my culture but of a lot of cultures, being stereotyped.
Personally, I have come in contact with plenty of individuals that don't agree with my religion or
don't follow my lifestyle and we have had good relationships without judgment. To work effectively
with people of different cultures, I believe that people should not assume before getting to know the
person. That all the stereotypes should be ignored because history or one person's skin tone or
actions does not define all the people that are part of that culture. I am not proud that being a white
American southerner that people part of the LGBT+ community is scared of my judgment. When

Cultural Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
What is cultural heritage? Cultural heritage is living a certain way developed by a passed
community from generation to generation. Maggie is the strongest of the two sisters because she
would have to face problems the other two sisters wouldn't understand. Dee was responsible for
the house fire because she watched it burned down and did nothing to stop it. Momma should do
more to protect Maggie when it comes to Dee's bullying because Maggie would always give in to
Dee but Dee would always insult her. In the short story "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker, the narrator
tends to understand the importance of the cultural heritage and the history of it, so that children and
families should appreciate it and continue to pass it down. Maggie is the strongest of the two
sisters because she mentally and physically has to deal with problems that the other two sisters
haven't faced before. Growing up as a child, she was severely burned in a house fire causing her
to stay inside. The narrator stated she "would stand hopelessly in the corners homely and
ashamed" (494). She is suffering from lack of confidence but doesn't really let that get in her way.
She is a humble and loving person, despite her appearance. As a result of staying inside Maggie has
turned her interest into learning about her heritage and respects it while her sister Dee has chosen
not to. She appreciates the everyday use of quilts because of their family tradition the quilts represent.

Dee was responsible for the fire because she watched the house burn down but did nothing to stop
it. She actually rejoiced in the burning of the house. Dee never liked the house, because she liked
nice things. She even watched the house burn down under the sweet gum tree until the last board
fell. The narrator even admits she was tempted to ask "Why don't you do a dance around the ashes"

Historical And Cultural Values Of Heritage
The second reason why the sense of nostalgia is not necessary in heritage industry is that economic
pressure in the museum can affect the authenticity of the past in the museum. With the development
of industrial heritage nowadays, heritage industry has been an essential aspect of the economic
foundation in some countries. An increasing number of precious historical places are repaired and
protected, which because not only the historical and cultural values of heritage are meaningful, but
also because visiting heritage can raise people's awareness to recognize the value of historical places
and preserve them. In order to attract more visitors, heritages are often promoted as tourist

The objectivity and authenticity of history about industrial heritage might be affected negatively.
In short, according to analyze the interpretation in National Coal Mining Museum for England in
Britain, it seems that a view of nostalgia is the theme of interpretation in the industrial heritage,
even in the whole society. The objects and buildings of coal industry has become industrial heritage
of coal in Britain. These are three main requirements for nostalgia. Firstly, the sense of nostalgia is
easier to appear in Western Countries because of their linear and secular sense of time. Secondly, the
glorious history such as in Industrial Revolution, Victorian Britain and the development of
deindustrialization cause the social and economic difference between the past and present, which
gives rise to a feeling of discontent and disappointment for the present generation. Last but not least,
the industrial heritage and the collections from the past are available. These three conditions can
bring about the sense of nostalgia in the museum. However, it cannot be deny is that nostalgia often
influences the authenticity and objectivity of history. First, in terms of individuals, the sense of
nostalgia might be partial recalled for the elders because they concentrate on the objects and
interpretation what they have experiences or they are interested in. For young generation, since the
history they remember is narrative by their parents,

The Cultural Heritage Of Syria
I intend to concentrate on the cultural heritage of Syria throughout the duration of this report,
however the the massive losses in life and property incurred over the course of the now five–year
long Civil War in Syria is a major factor in the discussion in regards to what remains, and what has
been destroyed, among Syria's tangible cultural heritage in the form of monuments, historical
architecture, and various other pieces of art1. The tangible heritage that remains in the region
effected by the Syrian Civil War is testament to thousands of years of culture, history and
civilization, which must be protected and efforts must be put forth in its preservation. However,
this heritage was built by the ancestors of those who have gone, and is a symbol of past peoples.
Those who remain however, are suffering from the onslaughts of both terrorist groups one one
hand, and are the victims of conflict between the Free Syrian Army and the forces of President
Bashar Al Asad2. It is a logistical and moral quagmire to divert and commit forces to either one or
the other, to protect them both from the destruction in the ongoing conflict. Should international and
local military focus and effort emphasize the protection of priceless artifacts that are irreplaceable
assets for the Syrian people and the world at large? Or should focus instead be diverted to protecting
internally displaced persons in the region, as well as those entrenched in areas with intense fighting?

Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture
Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English
Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage
Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of
cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge,
religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World Heritage
List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as local style
in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to 31,525,632 and
total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information Centre of Statistics
and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of the economy as the
well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of place identity in
heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some challenges in the
sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community engagement contributes
the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the place diversity of the
place which convinces the community to recognise their place identity. According to the World
Heritage Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with creativity as well as
innovation.

Cultural heritage in Ceylon (Sri Lanka)
The pearl of the Indian Ocean Sri Lanka, reflects a long history of its nations. From the archeological

analyzing cultural heritage definition in Sinhala language, the definition given in the legislations in
1940, and its relationship with Athens charter and 1954 UNESCO convention, I will demonstrate the
cultural heritage vision imbedded in the society through legal definition. Also, I will offer criticisms
and recommendations for an improved approach to the definition of cultural heritage in Sri Lanka in
broader context.
According to the...show more content...
Both movable and immovable property referred in 1940 Ceylon Antiquities convention, shows
similarities to categories in UNESCO convention, architecture, buildings, art, books, works of art,

the 1954 UNESCO convention uses the similar term as a "cultural property". However, 1940
Antiquities Ordinance shows unique significance through nominating trees as an ancient monuments.
4 What vision of cultural heritage is your country recommending to its citizens. The vision imbedded
on Sri Lankans (citizens in Ceylon) through this definition was that the British authority had the
autonomy about the antiquities or heritage in Sri Lanka and its materialistic perspective of Sri
Lanka heritage. One of the evidence for this vision is the Ordinance's hand over of the ownership to
the Britain by naming antiquities as an absolute property of the crown. Furthermore, by using the
term "property" to the antiquity, it apparently states the ownership and the connection with the
market value. Therefore, this definition promotes the materialistic value on heritage base on the
British authority needs. Further, by devaluing the belief system of natives by making the

My Culture, Identity, And Cultural Identity
When I think of the word "cultural identity", I think of myself, and what makes up who I am as a
person. My cultural identity influences everything about me, from the moment I wake up, to the
minute I rest my head on my pillow at night. My culture influences the way I eat, speak, worship,
and interact with people. However, I am not only affected by my own culture, but others' culture as
well. I am fortunate to have an extremely rich heritage, and I couldn't be prouder of my cultural
identity. The first, and arguably one of the most important characteristics of my cultural identity is
my ethnicity. I come from a traditional Indian household, where both my parents grew up in India.

beloved culture. Two of the most central ideas in Hinduism that are very important to my cultural
identity in terms of my outlook on life and other people are reincarnation and karma. I believe
that there is a cycle of death and rebirth, and depending on your deeds in your current life, you
will be rewarded or punished in your next life. Eventually, every Hindu's goal is to attain
"Moksha" and break the cycle of life and become one with God. My belief in karma and
reincarnation affects my everyday life because when I think about my situation or other peoples'
situation, I trace everything back to actions in our previous lives. My religion is the most important
part of my life, and the values that it has taught me have stuck with me through times of joy and
times of distress. My relationship with God is the most important one in my life, and it is the
biggest part of my cultural identity. Not only is my heritage a huge part of my cultural identity, but
so are my hobbies and habits. Although my parents and ancestors are Indian, I was born and raised
here in the United States. Therefore, some of my habits and interests can be described as

My Heritage Essay
It's crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are
today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who
they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based
upon their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way
you were raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are
viewed as are both influenced by your family's heritage.
I come from a four–person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they
are the people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has
influenced me to want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an
older sister who is 23. While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we
grew up, we started to drift apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3
years younger than my sister Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me
many personal life lessons. Watching her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and
helped me follow the right path. While going through school, I already knew what to expect when
it came to the class description and the teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple
years before me. Even though being the younger sister, my whole life is all I know, I couldn't imagine

The optimal health is equally important in every culture, but the reaction towards situation requiring

The Importance Of Cultural Heritage
In an era of globalization governed by financial targets and money return, cultural heritage being an
important humanity asset becomes victim of oppressive and destroying actions meant to institute
economic and social progress. Cultural destructiveness and ignorance are observed in Banksy's
graffiti of a worker jet blasting over prehistoric art from a city wall. As progress along with mass
and cyber media tend to gain territory and people's sympathy, we must be responsible to safeguard
the cultural legacy which is the basis of humanity. Marcus Garvey said, "A people without the
knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots." (Brainy Quote).
Being unique and irreplaceable, cultural heritage keeps us attached to our religion, customs and
ancestors and charges us to preserve it for the future generations. However, culture loss or
deculturation becomes a living threat caused by rapid modernization. Culture cannot fit itself in a
money–oriented and fast paced world where people have a tendency to become materialistic.
Globalization as a promoter of integration of societies and new opportunities is in fact a culture
killer which causes loss of identity. How can antique or medieval art protect itself or withstand the
contemporary art when our society insists to take the plunge into globalization? Murzacov 2 A vivid
example of modernization taking over the cultural heritage is the city of Manilla, Philippines

Heritage consistency is a concept developed by Estes and Zitzow (1980, p. 1) to describe "the

Americans a healthier population in comparison with other ethnic groups in America (Edelman &
Mandel, 2006). The writer chose to assess Hispanic Americans as the second ethnic group. This is a
rapidly growing community in America because of their increased immigration rate and population
growth. The major obstacle for this community is getting familiarized with an entirely new and
different language (Gracias 2001). The family which writer interviewed was from Puerto Rico and
had settled in the United States more than 40 years ago. The two major concerns of this community
are their family and religion while health promotion and prevention are not given much attention.

Cultural Heritage Essay

  • 1. Personal Cultural Heritage Reflection and knowledge of one's cultural heritage allows for a counselor to embark on a path of self–awareness This awareness can lead to understand the worldviews others that are similar and different from you. Understanding one's worldview holds the potential of being an effective culturally competent counselor. In this cultural autobiographic essay, there will be an exploration of my cultural heritage and its impact on my own beliefs regarding counseling practices. There will also be an exploration of a counseling strategy in order to address any barriers toward developing the awareness, knowledge, and skills to be an effective culturally competent mental health counselor. Personal Cultural Heritage Many African American individuals grow...show more content... For example, the most salient aspects of my cultural heritage that have resulted in discrimination and oppression include trauma associated with race. The trauma of racial discrimination would have resulted in my grandparents' children receiving an inferior educational and the possible experience of violence Tolnay (2003) discusses how many African American southerners who migrated to more northern states received low levels of educational attainment than their northern–born counterparts. This fact directly aligns with the reasons why my grandparents moved to California. My grandmother perceived the impact of desegregation on her children's self–esteem as detrimental and being integrated into White schools would not allow them to achieve higher levels of educational attainment than her. Understanding this aspect of my family's cultural heritage has allowed me to see that I have received overwhelming support to complete various educational degrees, and experience related advantages, that my grandmother had hoped for. Alternatively, my family's religion/spirituality has been beneficial to my family, and being of Christian faith has offered my family a particular type of privilege. Practicing Christianity, as opposed to any other type of religion, allowed my family the privilege of moving into a community that supported my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Cultural Heritage Cultural heritage is used to describe a way of living in a certain community. My cultural heritage is a white American with a little touch of southern, Cajun. From living in the main state of the community, Louisiana, I grew up learning the ways of life as a Cajun. Before writing this paper I wasn't even sure if I had a cultural background being that I am just white. However, I've learned that being southern or Cajun is a culture that I did not even recognize. My spiritual beliefs as a southern and plenty of other southern people is a Roman Catholic or Christian. Some might know the southern states as the Bible belt. Church is a really big part of my culture and following the word of god. This is part of my culture that I am proud of but it also can cause some issues with stereotypes. Overall, I am proud of my culture, but being a white American recently has caused issues regarding race. White southern people have been stereotyped as races, or judgmental towards anything or anyone that does not follow the bible. However, this is not true. Plenty of white Americans from the south are not races or judgmental towards different communities of people. The reason a lot of people of different cultures believe this is because of the history of what happened in the southern states and dealing with other races. Also, how involved we are with the churches and the religion we follow. This is one thing that I am not proud of about my culture. I don't want to be viewed as these stereotypes just because of where and how I grew up. I find this being an issue of not only my culture but of a lot of cultures, being stereotyped. Personally, I have come in contact with plenty of individuals that don't agree with my religion or don't follow my lifestyle and we have had good relationships without judgment. To work effectively with people of different cultures, I believe that people should not assume before getting to know the person. That all the stereotypes should be ignored because history or one person's skin tone or actions does not define all the people that are part of that culture. I am not proud that being a white American southerner that people part of the LGBT+ community is scared of my judgment. When caring for this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Cultural Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker What is cultural heritage? Cultural heritage is living a certain way developed by a passed community from generation to generation. Maggie is the strongest of the two sisters because she would have to face problems the other two sisters wouldn't understand. Dee was responsible for the house fire because she watched it burned down and did nothing to stop it. Momma should do more to protect Maggie when it comes to Dee's bullying because Maggie would always give in to Dee but Dee would always insult her. In the short story "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker, the narrator tends to understand the importance of the cultural heritage and the history of it, so that children and families should appreciate it and continue to pass it down. Maggie is the strongest of the two sisters because she mentally and physically has to deal with problems that the other two sisters haven't faced before. Growing up as a child, she was severely burned in a house fire causing her to stay inside. The narrator stated she "would stand hopelessly in the corners homely and ashamed" (494). She is suffering from lack of confidence but doesn't really let that get in her way. She is a humble and loving person, despite her appearance. As a result of staying inside Maggie has turned her interest into learning about her heritage and respects it while her sister Dee has chosen not to. She appreciates the everyday use of quilts because of their family tradition the quilts represent. ...show more content... Historical And Cultural Values Of Heritage The second reason why the sense of nostalgia is not necessary in heritage industry is that economic pressure in the museum can affect the authenticity of the past in the museum. With the development of industrial heritage nowadays, heritage industry has been an essential aspect of the economic foundation in some countries. An increasing number of precious historical places are repaired and protected, which because not only the historical and cultural values of heritage are meaningful, but also because visiting heritage can raise people's awareness to recognize the value of historical places and preserve them. In order to attract more visitors, heritages are often promoted as tourist attractions. Actually, at the same time, heritage...show more content... The objectivity and authenticity of history about industrial heritage might be affected negatively. In short, according to analyze the interpretation in National Coal Mining Museum for England in Britain, it seems that a view of nostalgia is the theme of interpretation in the industrial heritage, even in the whole society. The objects and buildings of coal industry has become industrial heritage of coal in Britain. These are three main requirements for nostalgia. Firstly, the sense of nostalgia is easier to appear in Western Countries because of their linear and secular sense of time. Secondly, the glorious history such as in Industrial Revolution, Victorian Britain and the development of deindustrialization cause the social and economic difference between the past and present, which gives rise to a feeling of discontent and disappointment for the present generation. Last but not least, the industrial heritage and the collections from the past are available. These three conditions can bring about the sense of nostalgia in the museum. However, it cannot be deny is that nostalgia often influences the authenticity and objectivity of history. First, in terms of individuals, the sense of nostalgia might be partial recalled for the elders because they concentrate on the objects and interpretation what they have experiences or they are interested in. • 6. The Cultural Heritage Of Syria I intend to concentrate on the cultural heritage of Syria throughout the duration of this report, however the the massive losses in life and property incurred over the course of the now five–year long Civil War in Syria is a major factor in the discussion in regards to what remains, and what has been destroyed, among Syria's tangible cultural heritage in the form of monuments, historical architecture, and various other pieces of art1. The tangible heritage that remains in the region effected by the Syrian Civil War is testament to thousands of years of culture, history and civilization, which must be protected and efforts must be put forth in its preservation. However, this heritage was built by the ancestors of those who have gone, and is a symbol of past peoples. Those who remain however, are suffering from the onslaughts of both terrorist groups one one hand, and are the victims of conflict between the Free Syrian Army and the forces of President Bashar Al Asad2. It is a logistical and moral quagmire to divert and commit forces to either one or the other, to protect them both from the destruction in the ongoing conflict. Should international and local military focus and effort emphasize the protection of priceless artifacts that are irreplaceable assets for the Syrian people and the world at large? Or should focus instead be diverted to protecting internally displaced persons in the region, as well as those entrenched in areas with intense fighting? • 7. Cultural Heritage And Cultural Culture Cultural heritage is a testimony to reflect the distinctiveness of a place made by human (English Heritage, 2009; United Nations of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Centre [WHC], 2008). According to Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (n.d.), Macau has a wealth of cultural heritage which illustrates the interchange between China and the West such as knowledge, religions, and social trends. Thus, Macau is listed as Historic Centre of Macau in the World Heritage List since there is a significant number of cultural heritage built in western style as well as local style in China. (Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, n.d.). In 2014, tourist arrival amounts to 31,525,632 and total spending of visitors is MOP 61.75 billion (Documentation and Information Centre of Statistics and Census Service, 2015). As a result, cultural tourism promotes the growth of the economy as the well as the living environment. Therefore, the essay examines the importance of place identity in heritage conservation and some benefits of cultural tourism. Then, it reflects some challenges in the sustainability of heritage management. Finally, it explains how community engagement contributes the viability of heritage conservation. Heritage conservation illustrates the place diversity of the place which convinces the community to recognise their place identity. According to the World Heritage Centre (2008), the preservation of heritage inspires people with creativity as well as innovation. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, 1940 Antiquities Ordinance shows unique significance through nominating trees as an ancient monuments. 4 What vision of cultural heritage is your country recommending to its citizens. The vision imbedded on Sri Lankans (citizens in Ceylon) through this definition was that the British authority had the autonomy about the antiquities or heritage in Sri Lanka and its materialistic perspective of Sri Lanka heritage. One of the evidence for this vision is the Ordinance's hand over of the ownership to the Britain by naming antiquities as an absolute property of the crown. Furthermore, by using the term "property" to the antiquity, it apparently states the ownership and the connection with the market value. Therefore, this definition promotes the materialistic value on heritage base on the British authority needs. My cultural identity influences everything about me, from the moment I wake up, to the minute I rest my head on my pillow at night. My culture influences the way I eat, speak, worship, and interact with people. However, I am not only affected by my own culture, but others' culture as well. I am fortunate to have an extremely rich heritage, and I couldn't be prouder of my cultural identity. Also, I have been going to the temple every Sunday for as long as I can remember, and I have been attending the BalaVihar program, which teaches young Hindus all about our beloved culture. Two of the most central ideas in Hinduism that are very important to my cultural identity in terms of my outlook on life and other people are reincarnation and karma. I believe that there is a cycle of death and rebirth, and depending on your deeds in your current life, you will be rewarded or punished in your next life. Eventually, every Hindu's goal is to attain "Moksha" and break the cycle of life and become one with God. My belief in karma and reincarnation affects my everyday life because when I think about my situation or other peoples' situation, I trace everything back to actions in our previous lives. My religion is the most important part of my life, and the values that it has taught me have stuck with me through times of joy and times of distress. My relationship with God is the most important one in my life, and it is the biggest part of my cultural identity. Not only is my heritage a huge part of my cultural identity, but so are my hobbies and habits. Although my parents and ancestors are Indian, I was born and raised here in the United States. • 10. My Heritage Essay It's crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based upon their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way you were raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are viewed as are both influenced by your family's heritage. I come from a four–person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they are the people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has influenced me to want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an older sister who is 23. While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we grew up, we started to drift apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3 years younger than my sister Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me many personal life lessons. Watching her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and helped me follow the right path. While going through school, I already knew what to expect when it came to the class description and the teacher just by having my sister go through it just a couple years before me. • 13. My Cultural Heritage My cultural heritage is very complex, on my mother's side we recently found out that we have aboriginal status in the form of Metis. As this heritage was not known until recently, I was never exposed to the cultural, language or religious aspects of the Metis. For the sake of this report I will be using my father's heritage background which is Ukrainian. • 14. Texas Cultural Heritage Being born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, I was exposed to many different cultures. A few of which were Hispanics and German. They both had different languages and customs. My mom would take us to a festival in San Antonio yearly that was called the "Texas Folklife Festival". There, our family would experience many different cultures with singing, dancing, food, art, and language. Our family enjoyed learning about the different places others came from and how they celebrated their heritage. Learning to appreciate where others came from and their back ground, gave me a better appreciation for differences. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The Importance Of Cultural Heritage In an era of globalization governed by financial targets and money return, cultural heritage being an important humanity asset becomes victim of oppressive and destroying actions meant to institute economic and social progress. Cultural destructiveness and ignorance are observed in Banksy's graffiti of a worker jet blasting over prehistoric art from a city wall. As progress along with mass and cyber media tend to gain territory and people's sympathy, we must be responsible to safeguard the cultural legacy which is the basis of humanity. Marcus Garvey said, "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots." (Brainy Quote). Being unique and irreplaceable, cultural heritage keeps us attached to our religion, customs and ancestors and charges us to preserve it for the future generations. However, culture loss or deculturation becomes a living threat caused by rapid modernization. Culture cannot fit itself in a money–oriented and fast paced world where people have a tendency to become materialistic. Globalization as a promoter of integration of societies and new opportunities is in fact a culture killer which causes loss of identity. How can antique or medieval art protect itself or withstand the contemporary art when our society insists to take the plunge into globalization? Murzacov 2 A vivid example of modernization taking over the cultural heritage is the city of Manilla, Philippines presented by the reporter, Erika Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. My Heritage Research Paper Our individualized culture and history depends on us to better understand where we come from. It is necessary for each generation to preserve and continue our customs and beliefs. Heritage can help to us to understand how humble we are. Every person has a different heritage. It all depends on our religion or of our ancestors. For me my heritage is very important because I know where I come from and also to pass all my traditions down to my sons, or the new members that came into my family. Culture is the one my parents have given me and so on because to them it was passed on by my grandparents and my great–grandparents.
