When I first started watching Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key (epic

Your Vice does do a better job at adapting the story a little more closely, with a few twists and
turns along the way, which I loved. Some of the plot points are a little out there and placed in there
just to confuse you and make you think one thing is happening when actually something else

Stare Decisis plays a large role in Judicial Restraint. Stare Decisis is sticking to an established
ruling that was handed down by past judges or jurors. A form of judicial restraint is called the
political question doctrine, and it is significant in understanding this interpretation of the law. The
political question doctrine is when a court acknowledges that the constitution is violated but does
not decide to act. There are plenty of examples of Judicial Restraint throughout our history but the

Walking that morning, something in Smith Bridgman s Co store window caught his eye, in the
display where a pair of red alligator skin shoes. These shoes intoxicated him and without a
second thought Ralph went in to buy them. The salesman said that they were one of a kind, sure
to be the only pair in Flint. Ralph paid cash for the shoes and as store policy directed, a sales recite
including Ralphs name and address was retained in the men s departments as a record of sale.
Ralph had gotten home and put the shoes on. They were a size to large and without question the

invest opportunistically in long and short positions across all asset classes.
This type of investment vehicle has existed for over half a century. The first hedge fund was
created by Alfred Winslow Jones in 1949.
His strategy, while simple, had never been used in the asset management world. His idea was to
buy stocks which seemed undervalued and short those which presented the worst outlook. This
strategy allowed him to protect himself against a fall in the equity markets. He later started using

We are mostly interested by the classic equity hedge funds, also known as long short funds, and
more specifically we would like to know how they differ from long only funds in terms of
performance and risk.
As we have mentioned above, this is the oldest hedge fund investment style but it comes in many
different forms: quantitative or fundamental, broadly diversified or highly concentrated, market
neutral or directional. Furthermore, some strategies use more leverage and focus on individual
market sectors or factors.
In their paper, Hedge Funds with style , Brown and Goetzmann (2001) have described the most
popular strategies used by hedge funds and furthermore they have tried explaining the impact of
the different styles on performance. They looked at the performance of each strategy, from 1989 to
2000, and learned that the choice of style impacts returns circa 20 percent of the time. This would
in turn have an effect on the risk return trade off, stressing how crucial the fund s style and
management are.
They have used statistical models (regressions and ANOVA tables) to analyze the variability
between the performances of seventeen fund strategies. The results revealed that eight of those
styles had high RВІ and adjusted RВІ, meaning that changes in the style explained most of
