The Role Of Violence In Early 20th Century Literature
Violence seems so intrinsic to history individuals appear desensitized to the implications of subtle,
vicious, or aggressive physical violence. Can we challenge emotional reactions or do transcendent
principles guide human behavior to justify violence with reason? In early 20th century literature,
violent and hostile acts were fundamental to a protagonist s resolution; authors used this theme to
illustrate the prevalence of evil and question the effects on society when violence was tolerated. These
works profoundly impacted the overall societal view on the implication of violence as evil.
Contributed to raising consciousness as well as help change the perpetual discrimination at the time.

Madame Valmonde, My own Desiree come: Come home to Valmonde; back to your mother who loves
you. Come with your child (Chopin 424). Desiree confronts Armand one last time and hands him the
letter from her mother and asks him if she should leave, Yes go he answers (Chopin 424). Once over
Desiree asks, Do you want me to go? , Yes I want you to go Armand answers (Chopin 424). Fueled by
anger and hatred Armand disowns Desiree and his child. Armand s own internalized racism and the
perpetual discrimination at the time facilitated his ability to renounce his clam to marriage and
fatherhood. Desiree having a child of the ethnicity Armand helped keep violently and cruelly enslaved
would reveal detrimental to her murder suicide. Furthermore, what is more tragically revealing is the
later unveiling of Armand s true ethnicity from a letter written by his mother. Armand had hidden
away a remnant letter written from his mother to his father stating, night and day, I thank the good
God for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know that his mother who
adores him, belongs to the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery (Chopin 425). Armand is aware
of his ethnic background, still to avoid any accountability due to the perpetual societal discrimination

Battle Of Singapore Research Paper
The Battle of Singapore was also known as the Fall of Singapore. The fall of Singapore to the
Japanese Army occurred on the 15th of February 1942. It was probably Britain s worst defeat in World
War Two. It was fought in the Southeast Asian theatre of the Second World War. It started when the
Empire of Japan invaded the Allied stronghold of Singapore. The fighting in Singapore lasted from 8
15th of February 1942.
What happened?
What happened was that Japan capture from England and Britain surrendered their military. As a
result of this many soldiers were held under the POWs (prisoners of war). About 80,000 British,
Indian and Australian troops were prisoners of war. British Primer Minister Winston Churchill said the
fall of Singapore to Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The British military failures
The British military was also stretched because of the war in Europe. They were unable to build the
defences they wanted and often they were supplied with the wrong equipment and supplies. For
example the costal funs only issued ammo for shooting at ships when they were needed to explode
over troops. They also had fixed gun emplacements and defensive fortifications. The preparations for
the defence of Singapore was also inadequate and poorly planned. The British troops were also told
that the Japanese troops were poor fighters.
The commander of the Australian forces in Singapore later said:
The whole operation seems incredible: 550 miles in 55 days forced back by a small Japanese army of
only two divisions, riding stolen bicycles and without artillery support.
Sir Winston Churchill had stated before the final Japanese attack:
There must be no thought of sparing the troops or population; commanders and senior officers should
die with their troops. The honour of the British Empire and the British Army is at

Alaska Community Environmental Analysis
Alaska may be the largest state in the nation, but it is ranked last when it comes to food production.
The community has become more aware of this in recent years and have begun to initiate more of a
local food movement within the state. transition sentence With 570,640.95 square miles of land in
Alaska (U.S. Census, 2010), the land being used for agriculture is lacking. Considering all that land
there are 760 farms throughout the state and still the amount of land being used for agriculture remains

African Slaves In The Novel Saltwater Slavery By Smallwood
The Natchez District where a tribe of Indians were housed as slaves was the first Mississippi region
where plantations were established. There African slaves were introduced into the Natchez plantation
system in the early 1700s by the French colonists where the first major profitable crop that thrived
from African slave labor in Natchez was tobacco products. The slaves shipped here came with a
militant spirit after being harbored amongst the torturous vessels. Their aggression, at first took the
form of resistance on slave ships as many deckhands and captive slaves experienced the unforgiving
waters, this is again explained in the novel Saltwater Slavery written by Smallwood. One of the
earliest recorded incidents of a slave resistance was the Natchez Indian Revolt of 1729 against the
French colonists. The African arrival in Natchez did not quell this militancy. Instead it caused the
Natchez to increase their aggression. However, the French quickly recognized the preceding contact
and interaction between the slaves and the Natchez Indians and as a counter they, (the French)
eventually extended their cruelty to the Indians. The Natchez Indians became aware that the French
began to whip young Indian boys just as they did their African slaves, along with the French
commander at Fort Rosalie taking the Natchez land, encouraged the Natchez nobles to act in
retaliation. To reflect the cruelty of the French, Natchez Indians recruited several slaves, promising
them freedom, and in

Government Control Gun Control
The second part of reforming the Republican Party involves enacting stricter gun regulations to
decrease the amount of gun violence in the United States. The official policy from the Republican
platform believes that all law abiding citizens should have the right to own guns (2016 Republican
Party Platform). However, recent mass shootings in California and Texas has called into question on
whether the regulations that are in place are enough, or if there should be tougher background checks
and restrictions on guns. The Republican Party s current stance on these recent shootings has caused a
massive backlash from the media and the public, which is resulting in a rapid decrease in popularity.
The American public is dismayed when they turn on the news and see reports of another mass
shooting causing unnecessary deaths because of gun violence and Republican politicians are attacked
on the media for not taking the necessary action of stricter gun regulations. However, with this new
stance the Republicans will now support more detailed background checks and restrict the type of
guns that can be owned by regular citizens. This will be heavily supported by most liberal groups but
disapproved by the almost all conservative groups. Groups like the Solid Liberals, Faith and Family
Left, and the Next Generation Left believe that the government controlling gun ownership should be
implemented due to the increase of mass shootings. However, groups that are far right, the Young
Outsiders,

Richardson s trial was delayed for twenty seven months before finally beginning in Sept. 1974.
The trial was long and was delayed numerous times due to Kunstler s busy schedule with other
demanding trial cases. The delays were also part of Kunstler s defense strategy. There was an
abundance of evidence shown throughout the trial among which was the ballistics test. These test
showed that of the five shots that Skagen endured only two were from Richardson s gun. After a
yearlong trial the prosecutor and the defense gave their summations and the jury deliberated. The
deliberation took several days. In the end Richardson was convicted with three of the original seven
charges; manslaughter in the second degree, possessing a weapon as a felony, and criminal possessing
of stolen property in the third degree. The judge sentenced Richardson to a term no more than ten
years for the conviction of manslaughter in the second degree. No more than seven years for the
conviction of felony possession of a weapon. The criminal possession of stolen property was
unconditionally discharged and the sentences were to be served concurrently. Kunstler appealed this

Through out the course of history, America has seen great Presidents. These men all exhibited
characteristics which helped them to be successful in their endeavor to become the nations leader.
Among those characteristics are traits such as being a good spokesperson or leader and being fair
towards all which makes for a good President.
As President, one must make numerous speeches. Someone who has a phobia of making speeches in

John F. Kennedy may me most memorable for with eloquent speeches. He was a good spokesperson,
proving himself right off the bat with his inaugural address in 1961. These speeches instilled support
and confidence in the hearts of those who listened. One can see how these feelings might come about
in this quote by the President in 1963. quot; What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana
enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not a peace of the grave or the security of the
slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the
kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope to build a better life for their children not
merely peace for Americans, but peace for all men and women: not merely peace in our time, but
peace for all time. quot;
President Kennedy was a natural leader. This was noted by Admiral W.F. Halsey. Saying, quot; His
courage, endurance, and excellent leadership contributed to the saving of several lives and was in
keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. quot; Referring to an incident
that earned him a purple heart, in which the future President swam four miles while towing an injured
crewman, the Admiral said this in his part.
More proof of the Presidents leadership skills can be noted in his Aeronautical motives. As

Algebra Research Paper
Algebra is used everyday in everyone s life. People use algebra to find out how much of a product can
be bought while staying under a certain price. Algebra is used in daily life, including a large number of
careers and jobs. Three careers that require algebra are chemical engineering, mechanical engineering,
and civil engineering.
To start with, a career that uses algebra is chemical engineering. Algebra is used in chemical
engineering to identify how the speed a fluid can move through a pipe into a tank and how much of
that fluid can be stored in said tank. To do this, chemical engineers use algebraic equations to detect
the rate of which the fluid is moving. Algebraic equations are also used to see how much fluid goes

waiters/waitresses, and very accurate and appropriate timing of food arriving, this restaurant is perfect

entertained in many different ways. For example, on a friend or family member s birthday, a waiter or
waitress can become a clown! They will come and sing to the one whose birthday it is with their own
special version of the Happy Birthday Song! They clap and sing and make themselves look 100%
ridiculous, but they are more than happy to do it to brighten up a birthday. Again, one can t go wrong
with Red Robin s superior, comical service which must be experienced. Red Robin has to be a top
choice from a critic s perspective for the perfect setting, marvelous burgers, and respectful service

need to worry about children being picky and not finding what they enjoy. There are plenty of choices

The typical work day is often so hectic and unpredictable that we often insist that nothing could be
busier or worse. This is not really or honestly the case, when you seriously stop and think about it. If
there is anyone who truly fits the definition of being a true Busy Man, that person is without a doubt a
member of the military armed forces. This is someone who is called to respond to orders and
situations on a moment s notice, and this does not always leave room or time in the schedule for eating
at a leisurely pace. However, this does not mean that the soldier has to make do on only crackers and
water. Great care in research, planning, and preparation has been made in ensuring that the caloric and
nutritional needs of fighting men and women are properly met, not only in the case of members of the
US military, but in military forces around the world. Much has been said about the feeding of soldiers
in the past, with stories and legends about C rations and K rations, but what about the present day?

Internship Benefits For College Students
Introduction:
Having a college degree is no longer enough to ensure that you secure a job upon graduating
(Huhman, 2011). Therefore expanding your college experience through internship opportunities will
not only give you valuable work experience, you can make a significant impact using your skills and
abilities in causes you are passionate about. Increasingly, employers value candidates that have the
academic knowledge, leadership, and technical skills set that can be applied to solving complex
problems in science and industry to addressing world health, environmental, and conflict crises.
Internships offer many advantages to college students. First, it is the best resource to develop the skills
employers seek (Florida International University, 2017). According to the US Department of Labor,
the skills set employers most look for are critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, and
the ability to work in a team (Occupational Outlook Quaterly, 2016).
Second, internships enable students to apply classroom knowledge to real world problems,
strengthening skills, and acquiring experience that employers seek in a candidate (Florida
International University, 2017). When selecting candidates, employers look at three significant factors,
an applicant s field of study; a high GPA, leadership experience, and experience in their field (NACE,
2016, p. 3). Additionally, internships enable students to work in their chosen career path, giving them

Essay on Running Record Analysis
Every day teachers are required to make decisions before, during and after teaching. Some of these
decisions will seem small and insignificant and others will have far reaching consequences. All of the
assessment undertaken and subsequent decisions made can potentially enhance teaching and influence
student learning outcomes for the better (Brady amp; Kennedy, 2009). There are numerous things to
be assessed and various methods for assessing. One example of this is the assessment of reading. A

the time James reaches the fifth line of the text he seems to have worked out he can predict the
language of the text using his memory for the text and meaning information he ascertains from the
illustrations (Hill, 2012).
At line 16 James makes an error reading The little bear instead of The teddy bear . Given the repetitive
and predictable nature of the preceding text it may be concluded that James is using meaning cues
from the illustrations to work out the sentence will be about a bear coupled with what he already
knows about the text; that little was used in all previous sentences to describe each object. James has
worked out that this text uses both images and print to convey meaning (Holliday, 2008).
James appears to be using limited cross checking behaviours. Self correction behaviour is nil, at least
in this instance. Evidence shows he is using mostly meaning and visual cues and not drawing on
structural cues. As a result of not utilising all the sources of information afforded by the text his
understanding and comprehension of the text is quite limited and there is no evidence he has really
connected with the text. In recent years there has been much research on reading

Why Is Barnum Considered The Greatest Showman
Come one, come all to the greatest show on earth! Phineas Taylor Barnum is commonly known as the
greatest showman. However, his diabolical actions are frequently overlooked. From public humiliation
and dehumanization to inhumane treatment of animals to deceptive advertising, Barnum was certainly
not the picture of inclusion and amazement that historians paint him to be. Because of P. T. Barnum s
dehumanization of people, mistreatment of animals, and deceptive advertisement, he should not be
considered the greatest showman.
Many historians consider Barnum the greatest showman. In their opinion he brought things into the
public eye which would normally never have been seen jugglers, unusual people, opera singers, exotic
animals, and many other spectacles. He didn t invent the circus; he reinvented it and made it more

them all as interesting and different from the common man. The belief among historians is that
Barnum exhibited these eclectic collections of people in order to try unite a divided and racist country.
Not only do historians believe the Barnum used humans to improve his show, but the animals he used
also enhanced his extraordinary show. The feats he forced his animals to do were dangerous, yet

There are many fascinating sights to visit in Senegal that are often filled with meaning and

championship located in Ziguinchor. Another is the African Renaissance Monument, located just
ouside of Dakar atop one of the gorgeous twin hills known as Collines des Mamelles. Completed in

Erik Larson s The Devil
Erik Larson s The Devil in the White City is a historical novel that portrays true events that occurred
during the final years of the Gilded Age. Larson employs his vast research in order to write a
historically accurate book, while filling in the subjective details all in order to make for an interesting
read for the audience. Although the novel is based on historical facts, the actual goal for Larson is to
portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two main characters
around which the plots of this novel is built. The entire novel shifts back and forth between Daniel
Burnham, the protagonist, and H. H. Holmes, the antagonist. The book is outlined so that alternating
chapters follows distinct plot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are both dedicated to building a fair that will better the tarnished reputation the Chicago gives
off to the rest of the country. They seek the help of architects throughout the country, but the ones in
New York in particular are full of pride and do not want to be associated with Chicago. John Root
eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a
newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder
to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for
their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. While pride may seem to
produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story
of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder
factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply
known as the city where one would marvel at how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This
disappearance refers to murderers and psychopaths like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to
the countless victims that were murdered by him and never found. Another example of preventable
evil being ignored is that of Prendergast, who becomes progressively insane but the few people that
notice it do nothing about it and

Summary Of The Film High Art By Lisa Cholodenko
High Art is a Canadian American independent film, and has its genre that is drama and romance. The
film was directed and written by Lisa Cholodenko. It was released on June 12, 1998 in the United

of the film. Syd, acted by Radha Mitchell, is a career woman at the photography magazine called
Frame. She lives with her boyfriend, James. When she finds that there is a leak in her ceiling, she

In this respect, her storytelling skills with a slow tempo enhance the film to have a strong sense of
realism. Also, the other one is the set design, especially Lucy s place. The director perfectly describes
Lucy s apartment as a New Yorker s place. So, it makes the audience feel like people actually live
there. We can see the arrangement of furniture and pictures on the wall. With the concrete image of
space, the director separates the apartment into two places that are living room and bedroom. The
living room is opened to everyone who visits her house, but the bedroom is more private place. When
Lucy and her few friends go into the private place, they do drugs and show their reliance on drug use,
which might indicates the dark truths of their lives. To show the mood of the place and private, drug
addicted life, the director uses not only a minimized use of lights, but also dreamlike soundtracks. In
addition, the director chooses medium shots and different use of lights for the relationship between
Syd and Lucy, and thus the intended settings help show character s emotions such as tenderness of
love. For example, when they make love in Lucy s bedroom. The use of light is quite different from
the heroin scene. The director uses medium shots with a full amount of natural light from windows to
describe their love. Thus, I

Spain And South Korea s Food Culture
Introduction I have chosen the country Spain. I think Spain is very interesting country because it has a
long history and fervent people. Most people think about Spain as football WorldCup, a fighting bull
and Flamenco. However, Spain is very famous with its cuisine. Also known as Spain s food is very
intense and flavorful. In fact, in a previous block, I wrote an essay about compared with Spain and
South Korea s food culture. Food of Spain and Korea deal in common. Both countries have love of the
spicy foods, and rice is a main ingredient. So Korean food is often popular in Spain and also, South
Koreans are also very fond of Spanish food. Actually, I recently worked in a Spanish cuisine
restaurant in Takapuna. I feel like that Spanish food has so fast cooking method and it uses many
ingredients. My friend, who is a Spanish cuisine chef, told me that Spain has a lot of food such as
tapas.
Food is the history of the country. If we learn the foods of other countries, we could learn their history
and traditions. Also food is considered as a very important thing in life. Actually I am very excited
about this opportunity because I will try to get a job in a Spanish cuisine restaurant in the future. So it
is time to research better how to make Spanish food and how to develop the Spanish food recipe.
Spanish food has various types of food, and I think the people live in New Zealand will love Spanish
food because there are so many people from many countries around the world.

The Importance Of Education In Mike Rose s Why School
Beyond the Classroom Education means something different for everyone. According to Mike Rose, a
good education helps us make sense of the world and find our way in it (33). The truth to this is that
education affects us in every aspect of our lives. Rose emphasizes the value in the experience of
education beyond the value of education for the purpose of custom or intelligence; he explores the
purpose of going to school in terms of how he defines himself and his personal growth in the stages of
his academic career. In Rose s exploration of the purpose of school, he also reflects on his personal
experiences and how those experiences gave him tools that are applicable to his daily life. Mike Rose
s Why School?: Reclaiming Education for All of Us persuades his audience of the importance of
education beyond the classroom, emphasizing how those experiences become crucial to one s personal
growth and potential. Rose elaborates on the significance of education by reflecting on his own
perspective on and how that shaped his identity. His childhood gave him the opportunity to experience
the contrast between a positive learning environment and a negative one. This also shaped him to have
an evident positive outlook on education. He expresses, I ve experienced classrooms as both places of
flat disconnection and growth and inspiration, and this mix has proved invaluable as I myself have
gone on to teach (Rose 35). He further goes onto to discuss how this affected him when he was

Price transparency also affects companies such as Tesco and Amazon, because since they both sell a
wide range of products, it is easy for customers to identify which sells the cheapest. Both companies
are well recognised for selling cheap, high quality products, which means that they will both stand out
more than other companies in their category, because their results will come up first as they are the
cheapest. This benefits Amazon and Tesco because they will be receiving more orders, and it also
benefits the customers because it is an easy way to discover which companies provide the cheapest
prices.

The E Commerce Industry
Introduction With a steady increase of time, effort, and money being poured into digital marketing
over the past few years, one can only wonder what this means for the future of online exchange, or E
commerce. It is said that by 2016, the web will impact purchase decisions of sales totaling $2 trillion.
This is over half of all retail transactions (van Bommel et.al.). Digital strategy is no longer something
that can be overlooked, an extra tool for a company to take advantage of if they have the time, it is a
key marketing driver in our technologically dependent society. The E commerce industry as a whole
has only been possible since commercial internet use came about in 1991. Meaning, this is a young
industry which has seen rapid growth in such a short period of time. Because of this, there is a big
push to see how the purchase decision is impacted by the rise of E commerce. However, because this
is a young industry, there is much marketers still do not know about the online purchase decision
made by consumers. What does the future of e commerce look like? What do marketers need to know
in the creation and implementation of digital strategy? Where are the gaps in our current knowledge?
This is where my research begins.
Literature Review My research began with reading current postings, articles, and studies looking at all
different topics within the E commerce industry. After thorough analysis of these pieces of literature, I
was able to break my research down into three

This is a press release from Assemblymember Cristina Garcia that states that she has introduced a bill
in order to make feminine hygiene products exempt from sales tax. She writes that this is being done
in order to eliminate the tampon tax and bring more gender equity to California s tax code. According
to the release, women in California pay over $20 million annually in taxes on tampons and sanitary
napkins, paying on average seven dollars a month for forty years, and Garcia writes that this
especially affects women with less money and that taxing these items is a form of discrimination not
only against women, but also those who are not privileged. The report points out that Viagra is not

surrounding women s health. The company made its packaging more vibrant because it wanted to
switch the conversation surrounding menstruation from one of shame to one of openness and honesty.
Within the article, a vice president of the company is quoted as saying that while advertisers have been
perpetuating the cultural stigma (of menstruation) by emphasizing that the best menstrual period is
one that is ignored, today s Kotex will stand for truth, transparency and progressive vagina care. Kotex

What Is 3.1 Business Law Assignment
Business Law Assignment 3.1
Task 1 A fixture is defined as an asset that is fixed or installed to land or building so as to become a
fundamental part of that land or building. An item is deemed to be fixed to property or building if it is
permanently attached to the structure using bolts, screws, nails, or cement. Fixtures are intended to
serve a particular purpose. For example, shelves are fixtures intended to assist with proper
arrangements of items in a shop (Aalberts, 2015). In the case of Goodprice Pty Ltd, the new extractor
fans to be installed by the tenant in his restaurant would be considered as fixtures. The fans would be
fixed on the ceiling, possibly with the help of bolts and screws. Besides, they would have a purpose: to
prevent the ceiling from smoke damage. Their removal might also damage the ceiling, which is part of
the building (Beaty, Samuelson and Bredeson, 2013). At the end the 5 year tenancy period, the
restaurant tenant will have the right remove the extractor fans. The tenant holds removal rights since
he installed them at the request of the landlord. Moreover, the ... Show more content on

  • 2. The Role Of Violence In Early 20th Century Literature Violence seems so intrinsic to history individuals appear desensitized to the implications of subtle, vicious, or aggressive physical violence. Can we challenge emotional reactions or do transcendent principles guide human behavior to justify violence with reason? In early 20th century literature, violent and hostile acts were fundamental to a protagonist s resolution; authors used this theme to illustrate the prevalence of evil and question the effects on society when violence was tolerated. These works profoundly impacted the overall societal view on the implication of violence as evil. Contributed to raising consciousness as well as help change the perpetual discrimination at the time. On January 14, 1893, Vogue Magazine published an illuminating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once over Desiree asks, Do you want me to go? , Yes I want you to go Armand answers (Chopin 424). Fueled by anger and hatred Armand disowns Desiree and his child. Armand s own internalized racism and the perpetual discrimination at the time facilitated his ability to renounce his clam to marriage and fatherhood. Desiree having a child of the ethnicity Armand helped keep violently and cruelly enslaved would reveal detrimental to her murder suicide. Furthermore, what is more tragically revealing is the later unveiling of Armand s true ethnicity from a letter written by his mother. Armand had hidden away a remnant letter written from his mother to his father stating, night and day, I thank the good God for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know that his mother who adores him, belongs to the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery (Chopin 425). It was probably Britain s worst defeat in World War Two. It was fought in the Southeast Asian theatre of the Second World War. It started when the Empire of Japan invaded the Allied stronghold of Singapore. The fighting in Singapore lasted from 8 15th of February 1942. What happened? What happened was that Japan capture from England and Britain surrendered their military. As a result of this many soldiers were held under the POWs (prisoners of war). Here is a man whose death will lighten your heart. The British military failures The British military was also stretched because of the war in Europe. They were unable to build the defences they wanted and often they were supplied with the wrong equipment and supplies. For example the costal funs only issued ammo for shooting at ships when they were needed to explode over troops. They also had fixed gun emplacements and defensive fortifications. The preparations for the defence of Singapore was also inadequate and poorly planned. The British troops were also told that the Japanese troops were poor fighters. The commander of the Australian forces in Singapore later said: The whole operation seems incredible: 550 miles in 55 days forced back by a small Japanese army of only two divisions, riding stolen bicycles and without artillery support. Sir Winston Churchill had stated before the final Japanese attack: There must be no thought of sparing the troops or population; commanders and senior officers should die with their troops. • 6. African Slaves In The Novel Saltwater Slavery By Smallwood The Natchez District where a tribe of Indians were housed as slaves was the first Mississippi region where plantations were established. There African slaves were introduced into the Natchez plantation system in the early 1700s by the French colonists where the first major profitable crop that thrived from African slave labor in Natchez was tobacco products. The slaves shipped here came with a militant spirit after being harbored amongst the torturous vessels. Their aggression, at first took the form of resistance on slave ships as many deckhands and captive slaves experienced the unforgiving waters, this is again explained in the novel Saltwater Slavery written by Smallwood. One of the earliest recorded incidents of a slave resistance was the Natchez Indian Revolt of 1729 against the French colonists. The African arrival in Natchez did not quell this militancy. Instead it caused the Natchez to increase their aggression. However, the French quickly recognized the preceding contact and interaction between the slaves and the Natchez Indians and as a counter they, (the French) eventually extended their cruelty to the Indians. The Natchez Indians became aware that the French began to whip young Indian boys just as they did their African slaves, along with the French commander at Fort Rosalie taking the Natchez land, encouraged the Natchez nobles to act in retaliation. To reflect the cruelty of the French, Natchez Indians recruited several slaves, promising them freedom, and in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Government Control Gun Control The second part of reforming the Republican Party involves enacting stricter gun regulations to decrease the amount of gun violence in the United States. The official policy from the Republican platform believes that all law abiding citizens should have the right to own guns (2016 Republican Party Platform). However, recent mass shootings in California and Texas has called into question on whether the regulations that are in place are enough, or if there should be tougher background checks and restrictions on guns. The Republican Party s current stance on these recent shootings has caused a massive backlash from the media and the public, which is resulting in a rapid decrease in popularity. The American public is dismayed when they turn on the news and see reports of another mass shooting causing unnecessary deaths because of gun violence and Republican politicians are attacked on the media for not taking the necessary action of stricter gun regulations. However, with this new stance the Republicans will now support more detailed background checks and restrict the type of guns that can be owned by regular citizens. This will be heavily supported by most liberal groups but disapproved by the almost all conservative groups. Groups like the Solid Liberals, Faith and Family Left, and the Next Generation Left believe that the government controlling gun ownership should be implemented due to the increase of mass shootings. However, groups that are far right, the Young Outsiders, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore expanding your college experience through internship opportunities will not only give you valuable work experience, you can make a significant impact using your skills and abilities in causes you are passionate about. Internships offer many advantages to college students. First, it is the best resource to develop the skills employers seek (Florida International University, 2017). According to the US Department of Labor, the skills set employers most look for are critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a team (Occupational Outlook Quaterly, 2016). Second, internships enable students to apply classroom knowledge to real world problems, strengthening skills, and acquiring experience that employers seek in a candidate (Florida International University, 2017). When selecting candidates, employers look at three significant factors, an applicant s field of study; a high GPA, leadership experience, and experience in their field (NACE, 2016, p. 3). • 19. Essay on Running Record Analysis Every day teachers are required to make decisions before, during and after teaching. Some of these decisions will seem small and insignificant and others will have far reaching consequences. All of the assessment undertaken and subsequent decisions made can potentially enhance teaching and influence student learning outcomes for the better (Brady amp; Kennedy, 2009). There are numerous things to be assessed and various methods for assessing. One example of this is the assessment of reading. By the time James reaches the fifth line of the text he seems to have worked out he can predict the language of the text using his memory for the text and meaning information he ascertains from the illustrations (Hill, 2012). At line 16 James makes an error reading The little bear instead of The teddy bear . Given the repetitive and predictable nature of the preceding text it may be concluded that James is using meaning cues from the illustrations to work out the sentence will be about a bear coupled with what he already knows about the text; that little was used in all previous sentences to describe each object. James has worked out that this text uses both images and print to convey meaning (Holliday, 2008). James appears to be using limited cross checking behaviours. Self correction behaviour is nil, at least in this instance. Evidence shows he is using mostly meaning and visual cues and not drawing on structural cues. As a result of not utilising all the sources of information afforded by the text his understanding and comprehension of the text is quite limited and there is no evidence he has really connected with the text. However, his diabolical actions are frequently overlooked. From public humiliation and dehumanization to inhumane treatment of animals to deceptive advertising, Barnum was certainly not the picture of inclusion and amazement that historians paint him to be. Because of P. T. Barnum s dehumanization of people, mistreatment of animals, and deceptive advertisement, he should not be considered the greatest showman. Many historians consider Barnum the greatest showman. John Root eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and psychopaths like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims that were murdered by him and never found.
