Technology And Social Disconnection From Everyday Life
Not a wired culture, but a virtual cultural that is wired shut: compulsively fixated on digital
technology as a source of salvation from the reality of a lonely culture and radical social disconnection
from everyday life (Doheny Farina, 1996). The mobile telephone has been the most rapidly
disseminated piece of technology in world history. The first commercially available mobile devices
were available in the 1980 s, and since then have expanded exponentially. In 1994, Finland was the
world leader in terms of mobile subscribers with ten percent of the population being hooked on a
mobile contract (Wirzenius, n.d.). Over the past twenty years, these numbers have increased beyond
one s imagination. As of January 2014, ninety percent of American adults own a cell phone and over
half of those own a smartphone (Pew Research Center s Internet American Life Project, 2014). These
numbers will only increase with time as in a survey conducted by Pew Internet (2014) ninety eight
percent of adults between the ages of eighteen to twenty nine own mobile devices with numbers
decreasing slightly as the population aged. As our culture begins to shift more into the digital
revolution age we find ourselves losing vital communication skills in person to person contact. The
sight of a local Starbucks at lunch time filled with business workers and teenagers glued to their
screens more so than enjoying lunch, an adolescent playing games on their smartphone or texting and
driving, are all

Black Mafia Family Structure
Since it is known that the mafia is a criminal organization, but is also, and above all, for many, a way
of understanding life, a kind of fundamentalism that cancels out the individuality of its members,
whose identity is no longer belong to the member in order to be part of the new identity of the society
in which the member will belong to. In fact, every member that was going to be part of that
organization had to understand the term of family and had to live as a family. As brothers, the Flenory
founded their organization of drug distribution in Detroit at the end of the 90s and gave it that name
especially because of their family relationship. 3 The main criminal acts and activities In 2003 the

The Importance Of Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium carbonate that is secreted by
corals. They are usually built by colonies of tiny animals that are in marine water containing some
nutrients (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals
consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian
that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and
agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a
thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the
ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex
and a varied ecosystem.
In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and
coastal protection. Globally their value has been estimated to be between $29 billion and $375 billion
per year (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). They have been of significance to the coastal line by
protecting the shorelines through absorptions of the waves. Coral reef has been estimated to be
consuming more than six million tons of fish every year. Of well managed they can yield more than
fifteen tonnes of seafood per square kilometre.
Although their significance coral reefs have been the endangered species. Reefs are at risk with the
encroachment of algae. When overfishing

Tornado Research
Introduction
Predicting tornado activity can be one of the most challenging aspects of Meteorology. Tornados can
form in less than 10 seconds, providing little to no warning of the potential devastating destruction
they leave behind. With advancements in technology being more aware of the formation of tornados
would appear to be a natural outcome. Research indicates, that the advancement in predicting tornados
is closely related to understanding better why early predictions are challenging.
Reasons for Predicting Tornados
Tornados create devastating destruction throughout their path and leave behind horrifying stories.
Higher rated tornados tend to lead to multiple casualties and staggering records of injuries. When a

March 25th 1948 brought about the first modern day tornado prediction in Oklahoma City. Major E. J.
Fawbush and Captain R.C. Miller of Tinker Air Force base predicted that a tornado would hit the area
(Gensini, 2016). This successful prediction that came from Fawbush and Miller s study of a recent
tornado on March 20, along with reviewing recent tornado research they predicted the March 25th
tornado. After public outcry for local predictions the U.S Weather Bureau removed the ban on tornado
warning in 1950 (Coleman, 2011). These evolving predictions have led to the warning systems and
processes used to predict tornadic weather to prevent loss of life and potential destruction through
tornado warnings. The evolution of predictions has had an impact on the decimation of the warnings
to the public. While initially warnings were announced through radio and television, in modern days
we have ma multitude of ways to get the prediction out in warning messages through news, radio, air
raid sirens and social

The Fight For Gay Rights Movement
Today, the fight for homosexual right is at the forefront of society, which yields a greater thrust
towards full equality to heterosexuals with every passing day. This campaign for equality is known as
the Modern Gay Rights Movement. The modern struggle for gay rights started as early as The Civil
Rights Movement in 1954, and still continues today (Britannica). The Civil Rights Movement, from
1954 1968, sparked oppressed people to fight for their rights. In this period, shockwaves from blacks
gaining equality rippled onto the movement for homosexual rights; gays saw new opportunities to
gain a public foothold. Additionally, they sought recognition as a viable movement especially after the
passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With an arrest warrant, a police officer arrived at Hardwick s house; as he was investigating the house,
he found Hardwick engaged in oral sex with another male. The officer arrested Hardwick on the
infringement of the Georgia statute that prohibited homosexual sodomy. The law stated: Anal or oral
intercourse between human beings, or any sexual relations between a human being and an animal, the
act of which may be punishable as a criminal offense (Self). The sodomy charges were dropped when
the state prosecutor declined to prosecute the case. However, Hardwick, along with the American
Civil Liberties Union, challenged the constitutionality of the law. The appealed the district court
decision to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and succeeded in having it
overturned, on the basis that the case interfered with the 4th Amendment: the right to privacy
(Stoddard). The nine justices ruling the Supreme Court decided the Court would uphold the law in a 5
4 vote. In their dissent, the justices disdained neither legal principles nor legal reasoning (Stoddard).
The Court rejected several arguments, and most importantly; the fundamental right to engage in
homosexual activity, even in the privacy of a home. This rejection by Justice White was on the basis
that illegal conduct is not always immunized whenever it occurs in the home (Oyez).
It is unconstitutional that one is being persecuted for expressing their sexual

Nt1310 Unit 6 Paper
In order to duplicate the 8 ¼ May 00 05 bond given the situation that it was not called, the synthetic
bond of 12 May 05 and May 05 STRIP should have the same coupon rate with the original bond.
Since STRIPs are zero coupon, we can get the weight of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond simply by
dividing 8.25 by 12. The result we get is 0.6875, which means we should buy 68.75% of 12 May 05 in
the synthetic bond.
Suppose the total amount of synthetic bond is $100, we buy $68.75 of 12 May 05, and this will
provide us a cash flow of $72.875 (0.12/2*68.75+68.75=72.875) at the last payment date. However,
the original bond provides $104.125 (0.0825/2*100+100=104.125) at the last payment date. The
difference between them is $104.125 72.875=$31.25 and this implies that we should buy 31.25% of
May 2005 STRIP. In this way, we can create the synthetic bond for 8.25 May 00 05 if not called by
buying 68.75% 12 May 05 and 31.25% May 05 STRIP. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After dividing 8.25 by 8.875, we find out that we should buy 92.96% of 8.875 May 00. And as a
result, 7.04% of May 00 STRIP should be bought.
Cost to buy at ask = 0.9296*104.5 + 0.0704*46.66= $100.43
Cost to buy at bid = 0.9296*104.38 + 0.0704*46.25= $100.27
For investors who own the 8.25 May 00 05 bond, the current bid price for 8.25 May 00 05 bond is
101.25. To compute the theoretical price we have to use bid prices: (129.71875*0.6875) +
(29.90625*0.3125) = $98.5273438. This shows that 8.25 May 00 05 bond is overpriced. The profit
earned is 101.123 98.5273 = $2.5977. The investors should sell this bond and replace it with any of
the undervalued synthetic bonds preferably the first synthetic bond

Sparta And Kallipolis An Analysis Of The Ideal Citizen

Writing Assignment 1: Sparta and Kallipolis an analysis of the ideal citizen
Over the course of history there have been several attempts at defining what it means to be the ideal
person, and by extension how to create an ideal society. In doing so, several characteristics are
generally defined, some of which are courage, moderation and self control. The concept of courage
has been fluid in its meaning but has been highly valued across ancient Greece. In this paper I will be
observing two societies and the ideals that they hold for generating better people, as well as what
values they would want to instil. One city is theoretical, and one real: Kallipolis, Socrates economic
city, the city that would essentially be the opposite of Athens if it were established, and Sparta.
Archidamus was a Spartan king who presided over a nation that prized military success and courage,
specifically andreas, or manly courage, above all else. In the beginning of Thucydides History of the
Peloponnesian war we find him trying to convince the Spartan war council not to wage war against
Athens. Spartans were concerned for their reputation as Corcyrans had been mocking them and their
apparent cowardice because of their inability to make quick decisions. King Archidamus argued that
succumbing to the idea that war would be a good idea, and that Spartan victory was undoubtable was
ignorant and would end up harming

Summary Of The End Of FIRPO In The World
The End of FIRPO in the World is a short story written by George Saunders in which a boy named
Cody is bullied by his peers. However, it gets to a point where he starts making elaborate plans in
order to get revenge on them. Born of Man and Woman is a short science fiction story in which we see
a child who is abused by the parents. The story is written in the form of a ry. Over time, however, the
child changes its behavior and decides to lash out against them. Both these stories share a common
theme; those who are abused will eventually become the ones who harm others. In The End of FIRPO
in the World, our main character, Cody, the main character is a kid who is being bullied by others.
Lester Finn, a person from Cody s school, comes up to him and asks him why his rear smelled like hot
cotton with additional crap cling ons (Saunders, 128). Cody has always been bullied like this and does
not know very well what it feels like to be loved by others. Throughout the story, Cody imagines
himself in situations where people like him. There are often announcers making his actions seem more
than they actually are. The announcers in the booth above the willow are heard in the story sometimes
when Cody is riding his bike. Cody may do this because he feels lonely, and needs a way of being
accepted by the imaginary crowd (Saunders, 132). It is hinted that Cody is mentally challenged. At the
beginning of the book, Cody is seen riding his bike past The dead guy ... the Chink ... [and

There are numerous motivational theories that have been discussed and tested. Different students
unknowingly, or sometimes knowingly, utilize different theories since no two students are alike. Many
teachers acknowledge that different students are motivated by different things, whether it be intrinsic
extrinsic, self efficacy or interest. Not only can gender and age differences affect motivation, but the
student s self efficacy and level of goal setting also affect the student s motivation. As a teacher, it has
been noted that certain students are motivated to do certain tasks while others are not. In order to
learn, students need to be motivated. One of the most difficult challenges of teaching is fighting the
battle of motivating the students, which then leads to supporting them and helping them motivate
themselves.
Textbook Summary
The textbook definition for motivation is the inner state that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior.
(Ormrod, 2015, p. 186) It goes on to state that humans usually tend to work with a purpose.
Motivation not only influences the activities that learners choose, but it also affects the degree to
which they engage in those activities (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186). While teachers do play a big part in
motivating students, motivation also has to come from within the students. In order for students to feel
motivated, they must have certain primary

Whole Milk Vs Dairy Milk
Dairy milk has long been a staple of The American home throughout the years, and rightfully so.
Versus it s alternative counterparts, standard whole cow s milk is a singular natural source for many of
the body s needed nutrients. These nutrients are needed for the developing body in young children, as
well offering several benefits and enhancing performance in many athletes. Dairy alternatives do not
achieve this same offering on their own and must be enriched.
Milk is a very important source of essential vitamins and minerals. According to The Southeast Dairy
Association, just one 8 ounce serving of whole milk contains 8 grams of protein. (southeastdairy.org)

Dr. Deborah Goldman, assistant professor in the University of Minnesota s Department of Pediatric
Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, states that whole milk is vital to brain development.
Whole milk supports neuron formation and other major brain growth and development.

calcium also supports muscle contraction, which is important for heart health. Riboflavin is vital for
body growth, red cell production, and metabolism. This combination of nutrients alone is essential for
healthy child growth.
Another value of milk is that of its natural benefits for athletes. Chocolate Milk offers much more that
simple water post exercise. Drinking plain water after exercise replaces water and that s it, states Kelly
L. Phillips in her Fitness Magazine article, Got Milk? Try Chocolate After Your Workout. Versus water
and most sports drinks, and even plain milk, chocolate milk more carbohydrates and protein, which is
crucial for replenishing tired muscles. Value like this would be most beneficial to endurance athletes

When reading today s reading of Timbuktu by Paul Auster, you cannot help but help to believe that the
main character Mr. Bones to be a dog. While there has been many other evidences that he could be
something else than a dog. I do believe that within this context that majority of the evidence leads us
to believe that Mr Bones is actually a dog. Once piece of evidence being that when Willy tells Mr
Bones about not going to the Chinese restaurant other wise he will be taken and eaten. When Mr
Bones tells us about how he knows exactly no how to avoid being captured. He states this, Mr Bones

during the late fifties (Krebs). Directed by Morton DaCosta, whose previous experiences consisted of
several other Broadway hits as of The Music Man and No Time for Sergeants, the claimed musical
film of Auntie Mame was in fact no musical due to its lack of any melodic scenes (Shepard). Relating

Appealing to an older audience, the movie often gives bolstering sections of humor that may draw
attention from children audience members, however, several puns can be lost on the audience if they

provide for entertaining and striking performances. Emotional and seemingly genuine personalities
produced by the actors embody the characters which causes connection with the audience. Yet another
fine feature of Auntie Mame is the movie s settings. Just as unique and colorful as Auntie Mame
herself, the settings accurately depict a wide array of places and provides subtle details which could
give the audience a longing to re watch the movie. Despite the comical aspects, excellent
performances, and distinct settings, the movie isn t flawless. Due to Auntie Mame s age, modern
audiences may dislike the hazy video quality that the movie possesses. Otherwise than the poor
picture qualities, the movie s graphic effects are also inferior to today s films. In scenes of dangerous

audiences experience. However, with numerous superb characteristics the movie has, audiences are

Prior Appropriation
The dust settled as the last vehicle departed the newly established ghost town. What was once a
bustling rural community in eastern Colorado, complete with a school and church, and businesses off
the main street, has become deserted due to a lack of water. This has become an all too familiar scene
in rural communities across Colorado as the increasing demand for water and the dwindling water
supply pits water users against one another. The state s free market style of appropriating water,
known as prior appropriation, allows for this highly competitive, and often detrimental situation to
persist. As climate change and population growth continue to strain the water supply in Colorado, it
will be necessary to adjust the strict prior appropriation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The environment, and recreational activities that are essential to the outdoors, have also been
negatively impacted by this system for allocating water rights. The issue of whether or not this system
is equitable towards environmental protection has been raised because environmental organizations
typically do not have the same funds as other entities, such as cities and towns, oil, gas, and energy
companies, and manufacturing. Furthermore, as Jones and Cech point out, environmental concerns
continue to be underrepresented in Colorado water law and policy (p. 712). This has created a
situation similar to agriculture, where environmental concerns become second thoughts to those of M
I, giving rise to environmental issues across the state. These environmental issues can have an effect

Ankle Joint Research Paper
The ankle joint is a rolling joint that gains most of its stability from osseous and ligamentous
structures. Congruence of distal articular surface of the tibia, fibula, and trochlear surface of the talus
aids in even distribution of weight bearing forces on the joint. Medial ligamentous structures,
interosseous membrane, tibiofibular, lateral collateral ligaments, and tendinous structures assume
static stabilization role of the ankle. (10,11,22).
Although the ankle joint has significantly smaller surface area than the hip or knee, it withstands five
times the body weight during stance in walking and up to 13 times the body weight during running
(10,11, 17 19). Despite the increased weight bearing force, the tibiotalar joint is more resistant to
development of primary osteoarthritis (OA). However, it is more susceptible to post traumatic arthritis
based on many variables including gender, cartilage thickness, mechanical and metabolic factors.
(10,11,19,20). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the knee, the articular cartilage of the ankle is uniform in thickness, measuring from 1 to
1.7mm, and displays much higher compressive stiffness than hip or knee cartilage (10,11,19,20).
Ankle cartilage may develop fissures attributable to wear; this conditions does not progress to OA as it
wound in the knee or hip (10,11,19, 20). Ankle cartilage also does not decrease in tensile strength with
age (10,11,19 21). Compared to the hip and knee, ankle chondrocytes have different biomechanical
and biologic factors to resist degradation, especially inflammatory markers. Ankle chondrocytes have
decreased sensitivity to Interleukin 1 (IL 1) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), in particular MMP
8 that is usually elevated in OA (10,11,19, 20, 22). As a result, the ankle joint is unlikely to succumb
to damage by inflammatory changes

Throughout The Course Of Society, Political Leaders And
Throughout the course of society, political leaders and individuals with authority have either led their
followers to great success, or towards misery and tyranny. In society, great leaders have been able to
not only change the landscape of the region they abide in, but ultimately change the viewpoints and
understandings of individuals across the globe for the better. On the other hand, leaders with ill
intentions have led their followers towards mischief and suppression of not only their physical being,
but also of their mental state. In William Shakespeare s world renowned play Julius Caesar,
Shakespeare illustrates the political, power struggle between the prodigious leader of Rome, Julius
Caesar, and Brutus and his conspirators. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the genderbending of the UH play, the vital theme of self exploration and equality of both
genders is discovered. From the outset of the play, the audience can see that Julius Caesar is a
powerful figurehead that has gained respect from the entirety of the Roman people. This is evident
when Julius denies the crown of Rome from his people three times during the Feast of Lupercal. The
Roman people admire Julius to such a great extent to where they offer him leadership and control not
once, or twice, but three times. By Becker portraying Julius Caesar as a female character in the
coronation scene it reveals many things about gender equality. First and foremost, it shows that men
and women can be equally as successful. Even though Julius Caesar was cast as a young and short
woman, the charisma and supremacy exuded by the actor exceeded that of any male actor. From how
she conversed with the other powerful male characters, Brutus, Antony and Cassius, to the way she
carried out her mannerisms and strong will upon others, it proved that she was no individual to
underestimate. In a way, both the male and female audience members felt empowered by spectating a
female actor play one of the strongest male roles in Theatre history with extreme confidence and
precision. Overall, the reversal of gender roles and the theme of gender empowerment helped me
understand one of the play s central messages of how the death of a respected leader

An Informative Essay On Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is a Christian holiday, which was brought by the French when they colonized a part of the
United States of America. The first time that Mardi Grass was celebrated in America, was on March 3,

February and March; it all depends when is going to be Easter. I chose Mardi Gras, because it was an
opportunity to search more about this carnival, particularly in New Orleans. This carnival is celebrated

History of Management Thought Revision
Part Two
The Scientific Management Era
The purpose of Part Two is to begin with the work of Frederick W. Taylor and trace developments in
management thought in Great Britain, Europe, Japan, and the U.S.A. up to about 1929. Taylor is the
focal point, but we will see his followers as well as developments in personnel management and the
behavioral sciences. Henri Fayol and Max Weber will be discussed, although their main influence
came later, and we will conclude with an overview of the influence of scientific management in its
environment.

6. First Class worker this was Taylor s idea that everyone was best or first class at some type of work.
There should be a match between a person s abilities and their job placement.
7. Functional Foreman Taylor had the idea that knowledge was authority. Supervisors could not know
everything about the planning and performance of the work; therefore functional specialists would
provide assistance to the workers. In retrospect, Taylor had recognized the need for staff advice and
assistance from people who had special abilities or knowledge.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Creaming
Creaming or skimming[edit]
In most skimming, goods are higher priced so that fewer sales are needed to break even. Selling a
product at a high price, sacrificing high sales to gain a high profit is therefore skimming the market.
Skimming is usually employed to reimburse the cost of investment of the original research into the
product: commonly used in electronic markets when a new range, such as DVD players, are firstly
dismarket at a high price. This strategy is often used to target early adopters of a product or service.
Early adopters generally have a relatively lower price sensitivity this can be attributed to: their need
for the product outweighing their need to economise; a greater understanding of the product s value;

First degree price discrimination
The business charges every consumer exactly how much they are willing to pay for the product.
2. Second degree price discrimination
The business uses volume discounts which allows buyers to purchase a higher inventory at a reduced
price. While this benefits the high inventory buyer, it obviously hurts the low inventory buyer who is
forced to pay a higher price. This buyer may then be less competitive in the downstream market.
3. Third degree price discrimination
This occurs when firms segment the market into high demand and low demand groups.[16]
Firm need to ensure they are aware of several factors of their business before proceeding with the
strategy of price discrimination. Firms must have control over the changes they make regarding the
price of their product by which they can gain profitability depending on the amount of sales made. The
price can be increased or decreased at any point depending on the fluctuation of the rate of buyers and
consumers. Price discrimination strategy is not feasible for all firms as there are many consequences
that the firms may face due to the action. For example: if a firm sells a product to their customer for a
cheaper price and that customer resells the product demanding a higher price from another buyer then
the chances of the firm failing to make a higher profit is predicted because they could have sold their
product at a higher rate than the re seller and made further

Ali Hale Writing Process Analysis
In this week s article, the author, Ali Hale wrote about the five steps of the writing process. These
steps includes prewriting, writing, revising, editing and publishing. Prewriting is the first step of the
writing process, this step allows the writer to form ideas and write them down. Once they get an idea
of what to write, they can either brainstorm or free write. Brainstorm means writing down any ideas
that comes to mind on a piece of paper with the main idea in the center. These ideas can be subtopics
or directions to the article. On the other hand, free write is when the writer starts writing their ideas

Re: Sherman Antitrust Act
Facts
John Davison Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil Company in 1870 and ran it until he retired

Vietnam War Youth Culture Essay
Youth culture in the United States seems to change with every new fad and style, but the shift in youth
culture during the Vietnam War was something else entirely. Young adults were faced with startling
new things like being drafted into the military and facing violence on the homefront. Young people in
the United States, and soldiers stationed in Vietnam, tried to use drugs as an escape from the reality of
war and death. While the soldiers were fighting overseas, many young people faced their own battles
at home by protesting and and rallying. While looking back into the 1960s and 1970s, it is important
that we recognize the struggles and triumphs of the Vietnam War era youth.
To fully understand the changes of youth culture due to the Vietnam War, it is important to analyze the
United State s involvement in the war to begin with. The Vietnam War was an ongoing, violent
conflict between the Northern Vietnam communists called the Viet Cong and the democratic Southern
Vietnam (Kington, 2012). In the early 1950s, The United States began aiding South Vietnam with
funds and military training against the Viet Cong, over time the United States got more involved in
Vietnam. At one point in 1968, there were about 537,000 United States servicemen in Vietnam and it

The Song Of Roland Poem Analysis
The Song of Roland by Dorothy L. Sayers is about a poetic battle between two religions and two
nations. King Charlemagne s army is at war with the Muslim kingdom in Spain called Saragossa ruled
by King Marsilla. King Charlemagne is determined to have the people of Saragossa submit to his laws
and rulings. King Charlemagne is the king of the Franks and a devoted Christian. His influence as a
Christian militant in the Western part of Mediterranean gave him a lot of power to expand the
Kingdom of the Franks. Not only was King Charles endured by the Pope, he was also considered a
successful conquered. He was the surrounded by his great warrior nobles who helped him in his
kingdom expansion. Roland was his dear nephew and a very skillful warrior who was accompanied by
his best friend Oliver.
As the poem continues, King Marsilla is afraid as to what could happen if King Charles takes over his
kingdom. In fear, King Marsilla promises King Charles to send great possession and gifts in exchange
for the Franks to leave Saragossa alone. King Charles and the rest of his associates accept his peace
offering. The tipping point in the poem is when Roland nominates his step father Ganelon to delivered
the message to King Marsilla. However, Ganelon full of envy and resentment against his step son uses
this opportunity to betray his step son and seek revenge. Genelon believed that Roland was eager to
choose him, so that he could die in the hands of the enemy. With the intension to directly

Female Power, Maternity and Genderbending in Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra
The 19th century essayist and literary critic William Hazlitt wrote of Cleopatra, She is voluptuous,
ostentatious, conscious, boastful of her charms, haughty, tyrannical, [and] fickle, which are great and
unpardonable faults (Hazlitt 2 3). Much of the criticism of Antony and Cleopatra has recycled this
judgement, depicting Cleopatra as a villainess uses her eroticism and sexuality to motivate Antony to
seek power. Cleopatra is memorable for her propensity for violence as well. While Antony and
Cleopatra was written after the death of a violent English queen, Elizabeth I, Shakespeare may have
been faced with a dramatic dilemma: how to make a woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The binary oppositions of masculine and feminine are thus personified by Caesar and Cleopatra, not
by Antony, whose men often regard him as the pawn of the deceptive queen and thus not a real man.
On the contrary, Robert Miola says, Caesar s sense of purpose and public responsibility directly
opposes Cleopatra s love of idleness and luxury (129), a conclusion supported by the fact that it is
Caesar who, after the deaths of Antony and Cleopatra, provides some closure to the political chaos
that has dominated the play.
Such an assertion that the danger of Cleopatra s sexuality lies in her Egyptian surroundings requires
further detail here. The Orient represented a strange, but terrifyingly fascinating world to the
Elizabethans. While it was decidedly inferior and politically weak, the Orient also held a dangerous
mystique. As Lucy Hughes Hallett attests, poets, playwrights, historians and artists have found the
idea of Cleopatra s foreignness, or otherness, a suitable method by which to explain away her
dangerous sexuality. In other words, the fact that Cleopatra effectively seduced and influenced two
powerful Roman men baffled Western thinkers who could only explain it by attributing it to her
foreignness or otherness. Not surprisingly, Shakespeare succumbs to a similar artistic temptation. In
the first ten lines of the play, the surrender of Roman dignity to Egyptian passion is made clear. Philo
regretfully tells Demetrius how

The kids separated into their friend groups which for the most part had moderate diversity with the

remained consistent between all of the lunches is that the cafeteria was always filled with students.

Body Dysmorphic Disorders In The Media

According to a study performed by Brown and Witherspoon, on average, a child or adolescent watches
up to 5 hours of television per day and spends an average of 6 to 7 hours viewing various media
combined (Morris and Katzman 1).Young people consume huge amounts of media per day, more than
most other groups. This statistic means that they are exposed to standards in the media a lot more,
allowing for the media to have a pretty heavy impact on them. Not only are adolescents more exposed
to the media, but they are also at a very impressionable time in their lives. A lot of young women and

Creative Expression in Hunduism Essay
Creative expression in Hinduism is often incorporated through rituals and daily tasks. Hindu women
have the opportunity to express themselves creatively through the daily creation of kolams, also
known as Rangoli. Kolams are intricate drawings that serve as a proclamation to the world of various
meanings, and also a unique form of communication, dependent on their design. These kolams can
express many meanings such as announcing that their home is welcome to others, announce special
events, worship deities, and celebrate festivals.

The presence or absence of the kolam on the front stoop is equivalent to announcing that a household
is open or closed to the world, a cultural category that sends off a capacious sense of hospitableness or
hospitality, specifically, the willingness and ability to feed stranger, (Pintchman, 88). This can be
interpreted as the idea that the family has a surplus of food and is willing to help people in the
community who need it. This means if there were someone wandering the streets: a community
member, visitor, or stranger, they would read this kolam as a very strong encouraging sign that they
might be able to receive a bowl of hot food or other hospitality from this family.
Another way that kolams can be used is to announce special events for a household, such as births,
deaths, or menstruation cycles. In some households, when a child is born, special elaborate designs
may be made for the kolam of that day, to announce the child s birth. Certain symbols and figures
would be used to indicate that it was the birth of a child. In other castes and parts of India, the birth of
a child may not be announced through the design of a special kolam. (Pintchman, 89) This is one of
the instances that vary if it is announced by kolam or not. If there is a death in the family, usually there
is an absence of a kolam. The same goes for if the woman of the house is menstruating. It can also be
a way of presenting that it is the first

Sociocultural Theory Of Piaget
As a nursing student, I am looking to start a career in pediatric nursing or work in the neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU), where I am working with premature babies. Working with children can be
challenging, not only do I need to care for their treatment as well as psychical well being, I also need
to care for their mental development. That is where developmental psychology comes into place, two

more about how children develop so that I can care for them accordingly.
Piaget s fundamental assumption is on how children can actively shape their own development, they
are mentally active since their birth. Piaget hypothesized four stages of development, they are
sensorimotor stage; preoperational stage; concrete stage and formal operational stage. An
understanding of this developmental theory can be beneficial to nurses in assessing which stage of
development the child has reached, to plan the correct level of stimulation. Since in the hospital
setting, the child s resources are limited. We need more stimulation for the child s development. In a
hospital, children are all placed in the same floor with similar surroundings disregard they are in
different developmental stages. For example, children in the preoperational stage need more verbal
stimulation since they are learning to express their experience through language mental imagery and

The Black Panther Party In The 1950 s
The time of the 1950s through 60s has globally been an era of civil rights and an era of an
organization that had gripped the nation. The beginning of the Black Panther Party was a
revolutionary organization for the black community to stand up for their rights and needs as a bond
between blacks. Police would beat down on african americans during this time of late 1950s through
the 60s. The organization had the goal of exposing the police force s abuse of authority through any
means necessary. The parent ideology of the Black Panther Party comes from the beliefs of Malcolm
X where he encouraged to complete freedom, justice and equality by any means necessary. His
promotion for equality emphasized the aspect of self defense out of the negative connotation of the
use of violence. In Malcolm s words, It doesn t mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time, I
am not against using violence in self defense. I don t call it violence when it s self defense, I call it

though she never formally formulated a theory, her scholarly writings and written opinions on
environmental manipulation for the promotion of health is well known to anyone studying nursing.
Nightingale combined spirituality with nursing to give her patients the best possible care possible.
Florence Nightingale began following her mother when she made rounds to the poor areas within their
communities (Heggae, 2013). She later professed receiving a call to serve others. As part of her
Environmental Model, she has thirteen essential points that must be addressed to promote wellness
amongst the sick (Butts Rich, 2011). These points are continually addressed in today s nursing practice
during initial assessment and ongoing assessment. Florence Nightingale points focuses on cleanliness,
food, shelter, observation, and documentation. According to Heggae (2013), Nightingale focused on
nurses being very observant and the ability to document accurately. Florence Nightingale was adamant
in nurses being willing to challenge social policies that will impede one s ability to heal (Heggae,
2013). Nightingale believed that nurses must have the ability to manipulate the physical and social

familiar with the idea of fallen women . Offred is in her room and filled with nostalgia for the
outmoded habit of falling in love; Falling in love, I said. Falling into it which is then mirrored; Falling

from the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden is very prominent. We are forced to consider the
idea of the fall from innocence, which is presented as a paradox in this dystopian world as the women
are not, by the terms of the bible, innocent. However it is also a reflection of the Gilead society
because biblically The Fall was Eve s betrayal of Adam and the women who have been deemed fallen

hugely passive and gives the impression of a very powerless action. For women in present day society
I believe it would be the ultimate torment to be catapulted back in societal thinking where woman

I. The World largest chemical company with strong sustainability program
According to business dictionary, environmental sustainability is the maintenance of the factors and
practices that contribute to the quality of environment on a long term basis. (Business Dictionary) Any
corporate has social responsibility to assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on the
environment and impact on social welfare indefinitely. (professor Stenzel s article) However chemical
companies sustainability efforts and involvement are critical. it was fascinating to see the biggest
chemical company in the world, BASF involves and cares on sustainability. it has a potential
sustainability program toward the environment and has potential to spread sustainability awareness
among its reliable partners. As the biggest chemical company in the world, my classmate Ian Beason
and I wanted to know how BASF pursue its sustainability effort and we interviewed James Peterson,
BASF Marketing Manager. James Peterson has been working with BASF for 17 years. BASF
measures its sustainability success by enhancing sustainability along the value chain, Quintuple

Essay on Tracking Metastasis and Tricking Cancer
Carcinoma is a cancer that begins to develop in epithelial cells. These cells include the lining or tissue
of an organ or in the skin (Australian Institute of Health Welfare Australasian Association of Cancer,
2012). There are two types of carcinoma cells, basal cells and squamous cells (American Cancer
Society, 2012). Basal cell carcinomas are the cells that develop in the basal cell layer of the epidermis
(American Cancer Society, 2012). Squamous cell carcinomas are cells that are more likely to develop
in the fatty tissue beneath the skin (American Cancer Society, 2012). The squamous cell carcinoma are
more likely to spread to the lymph nodes and surrounding tissues in the body (American Cancer
Society, 2015. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tumour markers are detectable cancer cells that are found in the spinal fluid, urine or blood (Craft,
Gordon Tiziani, 2011). They can include enzymes, hormones, antigens or genes (Craft, Gordon
Tiziani, 2011).Tumour markers are beneficial, in that they are able to identify high risk cancers in
individuals (Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). They also help by diagnosing different cancer types (Craft,
Gordon Tiziani, 2011).There are different markers that are able to identify different cancer types
(Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). For example, Prostrate specific antigen (PSA) identifies prostate cancer
cells and a fetoprotein (AFP) identifies Hepatic cancer cells (Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). There is a
disadvantage of using tumour markers, and that is that some non cancerous tissues produce markers
(Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). Therefore, to determine whether a patient has cancer, additional tests
are necessary (Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). Sentinel nodes are lymph nodes that receive the bodies
waste first (Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). It is believed that the cancer cells are metastasised to these
nodes before spreading to other nodes of the body (Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). To identify these
nodes, dye or a radioactive tracer is used to locate the node and determine an accurate stage of cancer
(Craft, Gordon Tiziani, 2011). Thrombocytopenia is a

Examples Of Odysseus Return Home
Odysseus Returns Home is an excerpt of The Odyssey. Written by Homer centuries ago it still
enchants its readers. Odysseus return home from Troy, after twenty years, was, without a doubt, a big
challenge, as well as, a surprise. The return of the hero is part of his destiny, in addition to, part of his
path to obtain glory and recognition.
According to Dictionary.com, destiny is something that is predetermined, usually inevitable or
irresistible course of events. For a hero, their destiny is mostly determined by the gods. What
Odysseus tells Telemachus when he finds out his father is back is an example of how even the heroes
recognize their fate, Quiet, his father, the old soldier, warned him. Get a grip on yourself. No more

When we do a good job or win something, who doesn t like to be praised? It is the same way for
heroes. Their return is a synonym of glory. For example, when Odysseus was undercover he tells
Penelope how his welcome was and how he was treated, So I took Odysseus back to my house, gave
him a hero s welcome, treated him in style stores in our palace made for princely entertainment. (The
Return of Odysseus, pg. 27) A hero has to prove his heroicness, retell the stories of his andreia, if not,
it never happened and he becomes one more of the rest. For instance, Odysseus to stand out, says that
people said he was a man like a god. (The Return of Odysseus, pg. 30) His return not only is
beneficial for him, but also for his community. Now, they obtain a hero, which becomes a symbol of
strength and power. Odysseus return, like many others, needed a perfect timing, enough time to leave
people in suspense. As he tells Penelope, Odysseus would have been here beside you long ago, but he
thought it would be better, shrewder course to recoup his fortunes roving through the world. (The
Return of Odysseus, pg. 30) He returned because he had a story to tell, if he wouldn t have gone back
he wouldn t have been able to exalt his own achievements, nor let others exalt

Time To Rebuild; The Department of Defense Must be...
The Department of Defense takes up the majority of the US budget; it not only pulls in over a trillion
dollars of taxpayer money yearly, but it also is unable to accurately account for the exact whereabouts
of those funds year after year. The DoD does, of course, offer its own budget, however, due to the
byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible to verify if the money is
even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget, two sections stand out as
bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork barrel spending: Procurement, and
Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the budget be reasonably downsized, and the
others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the
taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far, the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple
reforms in regards to the process by which government contracts are granted, coupled with the
elimination of several pork barrel programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In
regards to contracts, all deals should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that
might seem like an obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs
go over budget. A Poignant example of this is the F 35 fighter jet, which has cost taxpayers 100 billion
more than expected, and is 7 years behind on production. Further more, if regulations

  • 2. Technology And Social Disconnection From Everyday Life Not a wired culture, but a virtual cultural that is wired shut: compulsively fixated on digital technology as a source of salvation from the reality of a lonely culture and radical social disconnection from everyday life (Doheny Farina, 1996). The mobile telephone has been the most rapidly disseminated piece of technology in world history. The first commercially available mobile devices were available in the 1980 s, and since then have expanded exponentially. In 1994, Finland was the world leader in terms of mobile subscribers with ten percent of the population being hooked on a mobile contract (Wirzenius, n.d.). Over the past twenty years, these numbers have increased beyond one s imagination. As of January 2014, ninety percent of American adults own a cell phone and over half of those own a smartphone (Pew Research Center s Internet American Life Project, 2014). These numbers will only increase with time as in a survey conducted by Pew Internet (2014) ninety eight percent of adults between the ages of eighteen to twenty nine own mobile devices with numbers decreasing slightly as the population aged. As our culture begins to shift more into the digital revolution age we find ourselves losing vital communication skills in person to person contact. The sight of a local Starbucks at lunch time filled with business workers and teenagers glued to their screens more so than enjoying lunch, an adolescent playing games on their smartphone or texting and driving, are all ... Black Mafia Family Structure Since it is known that the mafia is a criminal organization, but is also, and above all, for many, a way of understanding life, a kind of fundamentalism that cancels out the individuality of its members, whose identity is no longer belong to the member in order to be part of the new identity of the society in which the member will belong to. In fact, every member that was going to be part of that organization had to understand the term of family and had to live as a family. • 5. The Importance Of Coral Reefs Coral reefs are underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium carbonate that is secreted by corals. They are usually built by colonies of tiny animals that are in marine water containing some nutrients (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex and a varied ecosystem. In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and coastal protection. Globally their value has been estimated to be between $29 billion and $375 billion per year (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). They have been of significance to the coastal line by protecting the shorelines through absorptions of the waves. The nine justices ruling the Supreme Court decided the Court would uphold the law in a 5 4 vote. In their dissent, the justices disdained neither legal principles nor legal reasoning (Stoddard). The Court rejected several arguments, and most importantly; the fundamental right to engage in homosexual activity, even in the privacy of a home. • 9. Nt1310 Unit 6 Paper In order to duplicate the 8 ¼ May 00 05 bond given the situation that it was not called, the synthetic bond of 12 May 05 and May 05 STRIP should have the same coupon rate with the original bond. Since STRIPs are zero coupon, we can get the weight of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond simply by dividing 8.25 by 12. The result we get is 0.6875, which means we should buy 68.75% of 12 May 05 in the synthetic bond. Suppose the total amount of synthetic bond is $100, we buy $68.75 of 12 May 05, and this will provide us a cash flow of $72.875 (0.12/2*68.75+68.75=72.875) at the last payment date. However, the original bond provides $104.125 (0.0825/2*100+100=104.125) at the last payment date. The difference between them is $104.125 72.875=$31.25 and this implies that we should buy 31.25% of May 2005 STRIP. Sparta And Kallipolis An Analysis Of The Ideal Citizen Name: Safia Abdale Student number: 1001343539 Due: 4/11/2015 Word count: 1291 Writing Assignment 1: Sparta and Kallipolis an analysis of the ideal citizen Over the course of history there have been several attempts at defining what it means to be the ideal person, and by extension how to create an ideal society. In doing so, several characteristics are generally defined, some of which are courage, moderation and self control. The concept of courage has been fluid in its meaning but has been highly valued across ancient Greece. In this paper I will be observing two societies and the ideals that they hold for generating better people, as well as what values they would want to instil. One city is theoretical, and one real: Kallipolis, Socrates economic city, the city that would essentially be the opposite of Athens if it were established, and Sparta. Archidamus was a Spartan king who presided over a nation that prized military success and courage, specifically andreas, or manly courage, above all else. In the beginning of Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian war we find him trying to convince the Spartan war council not to wage war against Athens. Spartans were concerned for their reputation as Corcyrans had been mocking them and their apparent cowardice because of their inability to make quick decisions. King Archidamus argued that succumbing to the idea that war would be a good idea, and that Spartan victory was undoubtable was ignorant and would end up harming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it gets to a point where he starts making elaborate plans in order to get revenge on them. Born of Man and Woman is a short science fiction story in which we see a child who is abused by the parents. The story is written in the form of a ry. Over time, however, the child changes its behavior and decides to lash out against them. Both these stories share a common theme; those who are abused will eventually become the ones who harm others. In The End of FIRPO in the World, our main character, Cody, the main character is a kid who is being bullied by others. Lester Finn, a person from Cody s school, comes up to him and asks him why his rear smelled like hot cotton with additional crap cling ons (Saunders, 128). Cody has always been bullied like this and does not know very well what it feels like to be loved by others. Throughout the story, Cody imagines himself in situations where people like him. There are often announcers making his actions seem more than they actually are. The announcers in the booth above the willow are heard in the story sometimes when Cody is riding his bike. Cody may do this because he feels lonely, and needs a way of being accepted by the imaginary crowd (Saunders, 132). It is hinted that Cody is mentally challenged. • 12. Research On Educational Psychology Assignment Barbara Jones EDU 614 Dr. C 2 February 2015 Research in Educational Psychology Assignment Topic There are numerous motivational theories that have been discussed and tested. Different students unknowingly, or sometimes knowingly, utilize different theories since no two students are alike. Many teachers acknowledge that different students are motivated by different things, whether it be intrinsic extrinsic, self efficacy or interest. Not only can gender and age differences affect motivation, but the student s self efficacy and level of goal setting also affect the student s motivation. As a teacher, it has been noted that certain students are motivated to do certain tasks while others are not. In order to learn, students need to be motivated. One of the most difficult challenges of teaching is fighting the battle of motivating the students, which then leads to supporting them and helping them motivate themselves. Textbook Summary The textbook definition for motivation is the inner state that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior. (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186) It goes on to state that humans usually tend to work with a purpose. Motivation not only influences the activities that learners choose, but it also affects the degree to which they engage in those activities (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186). While teachers do play a big part in motivating students, motivation also has to come from within the students. In order for students to feel motivated, they must have certain primary ... What was once a bustling rural community in eastern Colorado, complete with a school and church, and businesses off the main street, has become deserted due to a lack of water. Congruence of distal articular surface of the tibia, fibula, and trochlear surface of the talus aids in even distribution of weight bearing forces on the joint. Medial ligamentous structures, interosseous membrane, tibiofibular, lateral collateral ligaments, and tendinous structures assume static stabilization role of the ankle. (10,11,22). Although the ankle joint has significantly smaller surface area than the hip or knee, it withstands five times the body weight during stance in walking and up to 13 times the body weight during running (10,11, 17 19). Despite the increased weight bearing force, the tibiotalar joint is more resistant to development of primary osteoarthritis (OA). From the outset of the play, the audience can see that Julius Caesar is a powerful figurehead that has gained respect from the entirety of the Roman people. This is evident when Julius denies the crown of Rome from his people three times during the Feast of Lupercal. The Roman people admire Julius to such a great extent to where they offer him leadership and control not once, or twice, but three times. By Becker portraying Julius Caesar as a female character in the coronation scene it reveals many things about gender equality. First and foremost, it shows that men and women can be equally as successful. Even though Julius Caesar was cast as a young and short woman, the charisma and supremacy exuded by the actor exceeded that of any male actor. From how she conversed with the other powerful male characters, Brutus, Antony and Cassius, to the way she carried out her mannerisms and strong will upon others, it proved that she was no individual to underestimate. Third degree price discrimination This occurs when firms segment the market into high demand and low demand groups.[16] Firm need to ensure they are aware of several factors of their business before proceeding with the strategy of price discrimination. Firms must have control over the changes they make regarding the price of their product by which they can gain profitability depending on the amount of sales made. The price can be increased or decreased at any point depending on the fluctuation of the rate of buyers and consumers. Price discrimination strategy is not feasible for all firms as there are many consequences that the firms may face due to the action. Vietnam War Youth Culture Essay Youth culture in the United States seems to change with every new fad and style, but the shift in youth culture during the Vietnam War was something else entirely. Young adults were faced with startling new things like being drafted into the military and facing violence on the homefront. Young people in the United States, and soldiers stationed in Vietnam, tried to use drugs as an escape from the reality of war and death. While the soldiers were fighting overseas, many young people faced their own battles at home by protesting and and rallying. While looking back into the 1960s and 1970s, it is important that we recognize the struggles and triumphs of the Vietnam War era youth. To fully understand the changes of youth culture due to the Vietnam War, it is important to analyze the United State s involvement in the war to begin with. The Vietnam War was an ongoing, violent conflict between the Northern Vietnam communists called the Viet Cong and the democratic Southern Vietnam (Kington, 2012). In the early 1950s, The United States began aiding South Vietnam with funds and military training against the Viet Cong, over time the United States got more involved in Vietnam. Female Power, Maternity and Genderbending in Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra The 19th century essayist and literary critic William Hazlitt wrote of Cleopatra, She is voluptuous, ostentatious, conscious, boastful of her charms, haughty, tyrannical, [and] fickle, which are great and unpardonable faults (Hazlitt 2 3). Much of the criticism of Antony and Cleopatra has recycled this judgement, depicting Cleopatra as a villainess uses her eroticism and sexuality to motivate Antony to seek power. Cleopatra is memorable for her propensity for violence as well. The binary oppositions of masculine and feminine are thus personified by Caesar and Cleopatra, not by Antony, whose men often regard him as the pawn of the deceptive queen and thus not a real man. On the contrary, Robert Miola says, Caesar s sense of purpose and public responsibility directly opposes Cleopatra s love of idleness and luxury (129), a conclusion supported by the fact that it is Caesar who, after the deaths of Antony and Cleopatra, provides some closure to the political chaos that has dominated the play. Such an assertion that the danger of Cleopatra s sexuality lies in her Egyptian surroundings requires further detail here. The Orient represented a strange, but terrifyingly fascinating world to the Elizabethans. While it was decidedly inferior and politically weak, the Orient also held a dangerous mystique. As Lucy Hughes Hallett attests, poets, playwrights, historians and artists have found the idea of Cleopatra s foreignness, or otherness, a suitable method by which to explain away her dangerous sexuality. In other words, the fact that Cleopatra effectively seduced and influenced two powerful Roman men baffled Western thinkers who could only explain it by attributing it to her foreignness or otherness. Not surprisingly, Shakespeare succumbs to a similar artistic temptation. In the first ten lines of the play, the surrender of Roman dignity to Egyptian passion is made clear. This can be interpreted as the idea that the family has a surplus of food and is willing to help people in the community who need it. This means if there were someone wandering the streets: a community member, visitor, or stranger, they would read this kolam as a very strong encouraging sign that they might be able to receive a bowl of hot food or other hospitality from this family. • 44. Time To Rebuild; The Department of Defense Must be... The Department of Defense takes up the majority of the US budget; it not only pulls in over a trillion dollars of taxpayer money yearly, but it also is unable to accurately account for the exact whereabouts of those funds year after year. The DoD does, of course, offer its own budget, however, due to the byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible to verify if the money is even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget, two sections stand out as bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork barrel spending: Procurement, and Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the budget be reasonably downsized, and the others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far, the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple reforms in regards to the process by which government contracts are granted, coupled with the elimination of several pork barrel programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In regards to contracts, all deals should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that might seem like an obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs go over budget.
