Q. Have you ever watched a short
film?
The results from this
question show us that
short films are
generally quite
popular within our
target audience,
meaning that we are
hopeful to get quite a
few viewers of our
short film, depending
on how easily
accessible we make
our short film.
Q . Are you a short film enthusiast?
The results from this question
show us that nearly 50% of
people who answered our
questionnaire are short film
enthusiasts, showing us that our
target audience is a small
specific group of people.
Q. Have you ever made a film or
short film?
The results from this question
show us that not many of
the people who answered
this questionnaire are film
makers. However we know
that film makers would be a
target audience for our
short film because as film
makers ourselves we know
that in order to create a
short film you have to watch
other short films as research.
Q . Would you watch a psychological
short film whereby a young girl gets
kidnapped from a woods.
The results from this
question show us that
again nearly 50% of the
people asked, said that
short films are not for
them and so they would
not watch our short film
based around our
narrative ideas.
Q. What is your favourite type of
thriller?
Our short film is a
psychological thriller,
and the results from this
question show that this
sub genre is not very
popular within our
audience. Showing to us
that our target audience
is going to be niche and
fragmented.
Q . Narrative explained.
The results from this question show
us that an equal amount of
people would and wouldn't’t like
to watch our short film based on
the narrative. We have expected
this because our storyline incudes
a twist whereby the narrative
point of view changes, meaning
that for some viewers it may seem
complicated and hard to
understand.
Q . Do you think that you would
understand the change in narrative?
The results from this question
show us that not as many
people would understand the
storyline in comparison to
people who would
understand it. Again
displaying to us that our short
film is only aimed at a small,
niche group of people.
Q . Do you think you would enjoy this
short film?
These results show us that
our of the people who
would watch our short
film, nearly 50% of them
would enjoy it. This is
brilliant feedback which
we are very pleased with.
And we assume that the
members who answered
with ‘I don’t know’ are
the ones who did not
understand the narrative
Q . Comments on the storyline.

about our storyline, here
we see comments from 3
very different view points,
someone who understands
it, someone who doesn’t,
and someone who isn’t
sure. Showing to us that
there will be very mixed
viewings and
interpretations of our short
film.
Q . What would attract you to watch
this short film?
The answers to this question
show us that we need to
make sure we put our short
film in very accessible places
in order to make it easier for
our audiences to watch this,
this also might create more
viewers for us. Also the fact
that someone wants to watch
our short film due to curiosity is
the perfect reaction we were
looking for in regards to
wanting to watch our short
film and that could also link in
with a good poster as that
could create more curiosity

We asked this question to
determine how old we
can estimate our target
audience will be. And
from these results it is clear
to us that our target
audience will range from
the ages 10 to 39.

From the results of this
question show is that the
majority of our target
audience will be female.
Q. Are you a student of are you in full
time employment?
The results from this
question show that the
majority of our
audience will be
students, which is what
we expected.
Q. If you answered student in the last
question, please answer if you are a
film or media student?
And from the result from
this question we can tell
that our audience is
going to be very niche
and fragmented

Target Audience Research for Psychological Thriller Short Film

  • 2. Q. Have you ever watched a short film? The results from this question show us that short films are generally quite popular within our target audience, meaning that we are hopeful to get quite a few viewers of our short film, depending on how easily accessible we make our short film.
  • 3. Q . Are you a short film enthusiast? The results from this question show us that nearly 50% of people who answered our questionnaire are short film enthusiasts, showing us that our target audience is a small specific group of people.
  • 4. Q. Have you ever made a film or short film? The results from this question show us that not many of the people who answered this questionnaire are film makers. However we know that film makers would be a target audience for our short film because as film makers ourselves we know that in order to create a short film you have to watch other short films as research.
  • 5. Q . Would you watch a psychological short film whereby a young girl gets kidnapped from a woods. The results from this question show us that again nearly 50% of the people asked, said that short films are not for them and so they would not watch our short film based around our narrative ideas.
  • 6. Q. What is your favourite type of thriller? Our short film is a psychological thriller, and the results from this question show that this sub genre is not very popular within our audience. Showing to us that our target audience is going to be niche and fragmented.
  • 7. Q . Narrative explained. The results from this question show us that an equal amount of people would and wouldn't’t like to watch our short film based on the narrative. We have expected this because our storyline incudes a twist whereby the narrative point of view changes, meaning that for some viewers it may seem complicated and hard to understand.
  • 8. Q . Do you think that you would understand the change in narrative? The results from this question show us that not as many people would understand the storyline in comparison to people who would understand it. Again displaying to us that our short film is only aimed at a small, niche group of people.
  • 9. Q . Do you think you would enjoy this short film? These results show us that our of the people who would watch our short film, nearly 50% of them would enjoy it. This is brilliant feedback which we are very pleased with. And we assume that the members who answered with ‘I don’t know’ are the ones who did not understand the narrative
  • 10. Q . Comments on the storyline. Here are some comments about our storyline, here we see comments from 3 very different view points, someone who understands it, someone who doesn’t, and someone who isn’t sure. Showing to us that there will be very mixed viewings and interpretations of our short film.
  • 11. Q . What would attract you to watch this short film? The answers to this question show us that we need to make sure we put our short film in very accessible places in order to make it easier for our audiences to watch this, this also might create more viewers for us. Also the fact that someone wants to watch our short film due to curiosity is the perfect reaction we were looking for in regards to wanting to watch our short film and that could also link in with a good poster as that could create more curiosity
  • 12. Q. How old are you? We asked this question to determine how old we can estimate our target audience will be. And from these results it is clear to us that our target audience will range from the ages 10 to 39.
  • 13. Q. What is your gender? From the results of this question show is that the majority of our target audience will be female.
  • 14. Q. Are you a student of are you in full time employment? The results from this question show that the majority of our audience will be students, which is what we expected.
  • 15. Q. If you answered student in the last question, please answer if you are a film or media student? And from the result from this question we can tell that our audience is going to be very niche and fragmented
