understanding and working with energy
Sunlight is our main source and provider of light, heat and energy. Not only does
sunlight sustain all life on Earth, but also it sustains the Earth itself.

It provides plants with the energy for photosynthesis, which in turn sustains the
lives of all animals and humans.

Sunlight consists of energies in the form of the electromagnetic waves and part
of this electromagnetic energy includes cosmic rays, gamma rays, x-rays, visible
light rays, infrared rays, micro waves and short and long waves (radio waves). We
utilize many of these energies in our daily lives; however, we seem not to put
much emphasis on the visible light rays. We refer to them as the visible light rays
because of all the energies mentioned above we can see visually see light rays.
By holding a prism towards the sun, we can break down the visible spectrum of
light rays into seven different beams of color.

Light consists of the seven color energies: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo
and violet. We can see these seven colors in a rainbow, drop of rain or dew and
even in a snowflake.
Each color of the visible light rays has a different wavelength and
vibrational frequency, which affects us differently.

Red has the longest wavelength and the slowest vibrational
frequency, which we innately recognize as warm and stimulating.

violet has the shortest wavelength and the fastest frequency that
we recognize as a cool and calming energy.

We receive light and color information through our eyes, which
then stimulates the retina and its cells, rods and cones. These
impulses, which travel through the optic nerve to the visual cortex
of the brain via the pituitary, trigger other glands and their hormone
secretion to various parts of the body.

Many body functions are stimulated or retarded by light and the
different colors of light and thus affect our chakra system.
Since light and its colors physically affect glands
and hormones, they will also have a marked
influence on our moods and feelings.

Science has proven that certain colors can calm
the mind while others stimulate mental activity.

We need light energy for nourishing our brain, our
emotions and our physical body as well as our light
bodies and especially our chakras.

Light can also enter through our skin and our
breath. As well, we can receive additional color
energy through a balance of various colored
foods, herbs, vitamins, aromatherapy, sound, mine
rals, clothing, decor and color bathing
In reality little is known and understood about the human psyche
and its intricate systems.

medical science has proven that toxins and other impurities, which
include negative thoughts, chemical enhancements in our food
and other poor environmental factors, influence our body.

Constant forms of “pollution” can cause chakra imbalances to
manifest, which may eventually affect us on a physical level.

Since traditional health care systems at this time are unable to
naturally or totally alleviate symptoms or cure our problems, this
means it is up to each individual to improve their health conditions.
We also have to consider that we may be our own best doctor. So
understanding the chakra system is more about how you can help
improve your own state of health and all levels of your being.
The benefit of learning about your own
chakra system is for you to understand on a
whole (whole = body, mind and spirit in
harmony) that when all parts of you (all of
your seven chakra centers) are
communicating equally and working in
alliance with each other, you will have little
or no energy disorders. For example, if the
mental part of you is powerful and so are
the physical, emotional and spiritual parts
of you equally as strong, it is then that you
feel at your optimum level.
Nowadays, we live in a fast world and
often forget about our “whole.”

We put too much emphasis on
independence and very little on
interdependence.

Our chakras are interdependent on each
other for harmony and balance.
Your mind alone cannot nurture your whole
being, nor can a proper food diet solve all
your problems.

It is important to understand that “all of
you” has to be understood in order to keep
“your house” in order.
Root chakra healing is important to our
daily physical lives, interactions with the
earths energy and our sense of personal
worth; the ability to manifest security and
stability for our basic survival needs is
affected by the state of our root chakra.
The root chakra represents
physical
energy, vitality, being
connected to the
earth, material
possessions, success in
business and
manifestations.
It is associated with the
color of red and is located
at the base of the spine or
tailbone. It is the energy
that grounds us, connects
us to the earth and
empowers our self worth, it
is also associated with our
sexual energies.
Generic Name: Root or Base Chakra
Eastern Name: Muladahara

Location: At the base of the spine

Color: Red

Musical Note: C

Smoky Quartz, Garnet, Alexandrite, Ruby, Agate,
Crystals and Gemstones:
Bloodstone, Onyx, Tiger's Eye, Rose Quartz

It is linked to survival instincts, a good self-image, and
Attributes:
our ability to ground ourselves in the physical world.

Manifests as paranoia, insecurity, a feeling of being out
Blockage Symptoms: of touch with gravity, fertility issues, and low libido in
                          either sex.

Too Open: Dishonesty, bullying, hyperactivity, defensiveness

Body: Physical

Glandular Connection: Gonads (testes in men, ovaries in women)
When the root chakra is blocked we often become spacey, frustrated
with our work, and feel physical pain in our feet, knees, legs, hips and
lower back.

Sexual drive is often extremely low or non existent as well and lack of
self confidence is also commonly associated to a blocked or unhealthy
root chakra.

The first step to root chakra healing is by understanding if your root
chakra is working at its full potential.
If you are feeling pain the lower
extremities of your body this is usually a
sign of root chakra blockage as it
signifies you are not accessing the
earths energy.

It can also manifest in health issues
surrounding; anemia, cancer, heart
disease, gynecological problems and
drug addictions.
 Concentrating on any one thing or performing mundane tasks such as balancing
your checkbook are difficult and are often put off until the last possible moment.

 Feeling of spaciness or being easily distracted is a sign of not being connected to
    the earths energy.

 Constant worry and stress over your financial situation or sense of security with
home and work is a symptom of root chakra blockage.

 A feeling of helplessness, unworthiness, lack of self confidence or unhappiness
with your physical body are also signs and extreme blockage of your root chakra
    can lead to depression.

 It’s also linked to the sex drive, so if a woman has an blocked up Root Chakra, for
instance, she might not find sex pleasurable or a man whose Root Chakra is
blocked could be impotent. But if their chakras are grounded and free, they will
have a good, satisfying sex life. This is just one aspect of the characteristics of the
    Root Chakra.
 Exercise, enjoy your physical body; walk, run, dance, do
yoga, play sports, stretch. By utilizing our bodies in a physical
way we are allowing the energy to flow through and into us
through our root chakra. This does not mean over exerting or
exhausting yourself but partaking in any physical activity
helps, it is a way of showing gratitude for our bodies.

 To ground yourself visualize the color red; a juicy red
apple, a bright red lollipop or cherries. Red is the root chakra
color, focusing on the associated color focuses energy into
it. Root chakra healing can occur by imagining the chakra
at the base of your spine as a bright red glowing ball of light.
Another way to ground yourself is to pamper your feet, get a
pedicure, soak them in salts or women can even paint their
    toenails red.
For overcoming feelings of stress, worry or helplessness, meditation
and affirmations are wonderful to clear the mind and gain a
positive outlook. Here are a few affirmations you can use:

 I am surrounded with love, support and light through all of my
choices in life and give to the world my love, support and light.

 I am grateful for my body, how it supports me and carries me
through everyday, and all the freedoms it allows me.

 I am grateful for my family, friends, work and health.

 The root chakra is an important part of our overall health both
physically and mentally. By using these wonderful tools root chakra
    healing can occur.
 The root chakra is located at the base of the spine or tailbone and is represented by the color
red. Visualize a glowing ball of red light in that area of your body.

 Earth is the element of the root chakra, for feeling grounded walk barefoot in the summer or
wear red socks in the winter.

 Use your body physically; exercise, dance, hike, what ever it is you enjoy doing with your
    body do it.

 During meditation chant “ohm” on the musical note of C, as this note resonates with the root
    chakra.

 Using your sense of smell is a wonderful way to bring back balance to your root chakra.
Scents to use are patchouli, lavender, hyacinth, cinnamon, sandalwood, musk and cedar
wood; burn candles, take a bubble bath, use essential oils or burn incense.

 Wear or hold gems that energize the root chakra; ruby, garnet, red jasper, bloodstone, smoky
quartz or black tourmaline work wonders.

 Eating foods that feed the root chakra is another way to bring balance back to it. It is no
    wonder that root vegetables are among some of the best to include in your diet;
carrots, potatoes, radishes, beets, and garlic to name a few. Protein rich foods are also great
to include such as eggs, tofu, and peanut butter. When adding spices to your foods use
    cayenne, paprika and pepper.
This meditation uses the earths natural
frequency of 7.83hz combined with other
grounding tones. Producing an experience
of wholeness and oneness with the earth
and all living things around you.
The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra out of the seven and can be
found right below the belly button in the lower area of your stomach.

This particular chakra is in charge of a person’s sexual organs, lower
portion of the spine, large intestines and the bladder.

It also affects how your emotions are working, how well you can use your
brain for things like making decision, your skills, how well you control
yourself, whether or not you get addicted to something, as well as your
ability to handle sexual relationships and how creative you may be.
The sacral chakra helps you to learn how to make your own reality and
can be affected by emotions like love, fear and hate.

If you concentrate on good choices instead of evil ones, you will have
positive outcomes, but if not, then fear and irrational things could
happen.

This chakra also works to help us balance out lives and teaches us to
understand that there is more to life’s relationships than just accepting
or rejecting something or someone.

This Chakra is in charge of a person’s sense of self, where your self-
esteem and will power come from.

It is sometimes shown as meaning fire, and has aspects of powers that
let a person “burn” out the pessimistic aspects of the past and achieve
the power to rule and direct your life effectively.

It can also help a person learn to meditate and cleanse their spirit from
negative thoughts that sometimes cause us to take actions that we
later regret.

This chakra is a fire element and so it is related to feelings of being thirsty
or hungry, or being tired.

Here we encounter the realm of Love and Compassion, where we
become conscious of others and leave behind the ego self.

The Heart Chakra is at the centre of the Chakra system, representing a
bridge between the three upper Chakras and the three lower Chakras.
It needs to be open to allow the energy of the Earth to balance with the
energy of the Cosmos.

When the Heart Chakra has been balanced, we can truly and
comfortably interact with the outside world; we learn to balance 'taking
in' and 'letting go', 'giving' and 'receiving', 'loving' and 'being
loved', harmonizing the internal aspect of ourselves with the external
world around us.

Without balance, it is more difficult to achieve healthy and fulfilling
lasting relationships.
The Heart Chakra represents our social identity and is concerned with self-
acceptance as its basic level.

A balanced Heart Chakra allows us to find the balance in Love. The more
it is open and the more we are compassionate for oneself and others.

Here we encounter the realm of Creativity and Inspiration.

The Throat Chakra shows us that everything is sound and vibration, and
that communication with oneself and others is essential in order to
unite, to become one.
We express ourselves and our personal truth, we identify ourselves and
who we are (the right to speak).

We communicate with the outside world from a place of security in the
lower Chakras, where we have built a healthy foundation, emotional
understanding and sense of connection, healthy ego, social confidence
and compassion for others.
Expressing our personal truth in communication is liberating; it can be
done via dancing, singing, talking, painting etc....

When there is restriction in communication, there will be a separation
between body and mind.

As we mature, responsibility for meeting our own needs rest with
ourselves, this manifests in not blaming others when things go
wrong, knowing that we are making our world through each and every
action.

With a healthy Throat Chakra, we have the courage to be different and no
longer need to deny the truth.

The Crown Chakra represents our universal identity and is concerned with
self-awareness as its basic level.

It is the symbol of expanded consciousness, the centre of our creative will,
related to our whole health on every level of being. It is where we connect
consciously with our true self, finding our life purpose, finding why our spirit
came to Earth embodied as 'us'.

When the Crown Chakra is balanced and open, we are fully present and
literally 'Spirit on Earth', with every cell of our being we are in full harmony
with the entire cosmos, where nothing and everything are one, and where
self-knowledge and inner knowing are integral part of our daily life's
experience.

We can open to the mystery of heaven and will naturally seek knowledge
and higher understanding, beyond ourselves.
The Crown Chakra is the entry point and initial transformation of the
Cosmic energy. It has the highest vibration of the seven major Chakras
and represents the highest human perfection, our true Essence.
The Crown Chakra is associated with our universal consciousness, our
oneness with all things and our spirituality.
Spirituality can represent our journey towards self-discovery more
than being associated with a particular religion; it is more a sense of
contentment and purpose.
If this Chakra is not open properly or blocked, we may feel
disconnected and separated. The Crown Chakra remains folded
around the pineal gland like an unopened flower, which is why this
Chakra is also called 'The Thousand Petal Lotus'.

Like the Brow Chakra, it is associated with our intuition. When the Brow
Chakra and Crown Chakra are activated as a single unit, they constitute
a functional element known to ancients as 'The Third Eye'.

As we realize the magnificent scope of the cosmos, we have the
opportunity to transcend our smaller, more limited world and identify with
the entire universe.

Chakra presentation

  • 2.
  • 3. Sunlight is our main source and provider of light, heat and energy. Not only does sunlight sustain all life on Earth, but also it sustains the Earth itself. It provides plants with the energy for photosynthesis, which in turn sustains the lives of all animals and humans. Sunlight consists of energies in the form of the electromagnetic waves and part of this electromagnetic energy includes cosmic rays, gamma rays, x-rays, visible light rays, infrared rays, micro waves and short and long waves (radio waves). We utilize many of these energies in our daily lives; however, we seem not to put much emphasis on the visible light rays. We refer to them as the visible light rays because of all the energies mentioned above we can see visually see light rays. By holding a prism towards the sun, we can break down the visible spectrum of light rays into seven different beams of color. Light consists of the seven color energies: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. We can see these seven colors in a rainbow, drop of rain or dew and even in a snowflake.
  • 4. Each color of the visible light rays has a different wavelength and vibrational frequency, which affects us differently. Red has the longest wavelength and the slowest vibrational frequency, which we innately recognize as warm and stimulating. violet has the shortest wavelength and the fastest frequency that we recognize as a cool and calming energy. We receive light and color information through our eyes, which then stimulates the retina and its cells, rods and cones. These impulses, which travel through the optic nerve to the visual cortex of the brain via the pituitary, trigger other glands and their hormone secretion to various parts of the body. Many body functions are stimulated or retarded by light and the different colors of light and thus affect our chakra system.
  • 5. Since light and its colors physically affect glands and hormones, they will also have a marked influence on our moods and feelings. Science has proven that certain colors can calm the mind while others stimulate mental activity. We need light energy for nourishing our brain, our emotions and our physical body as well as our light bodies and especially our chakras. Light can also enter through our skin and our breath. As well, we can receive additional color energy through a balance of various colored foods, herbs, vitamins, aromatherapy, sound, mine rals, clothing, decor and color bathing
  • 6. In reality little is known and understood about the human psyche and its intricate systems. medical science has proven that toxins and other impurities, which include negative thoughts, chemical enhancements in our food and other poor environmental factors, influence our body. Constant forms of “pollution” can cause chakra imbalances to manifest, which may eventually affect us on a physical level. Since traditional health care systems at this time are unable to naturally or totally alleviate symptoms or cure our problems, this means it is up to each individual to improve their health conditions. We also have to consider that we may be our own best doctor. So understanding the chakra system is more about how you can help improve your own state of health and all levels of your being.
  • 7. The benefit of learning about your own chakra system is for you to understand on a whole (whole = body, mind and spirit in harmony) that when all parts of you (all of your seven chakra centers) are communicating equally and working in alliance with each other, you will have little or no energy disorders. For example, if the mental part of you is powerful and so are the physical, emotional and spiritual parts of you equally as strong, it is then that you feel at your optimum level.
  • 8. Nowadays, we live in a fast world and often forget about our “whole.” We put too much emphasis on independence and very little on interdependence. Our chakras are interdependent on each other for harmony and balance.
  • 9. Your mind alone cannot nurture your whole being, nor can a proper food diet solve all your problems. It is important to understand that “all of you” has to be understood in order to keep “your house” in order.
  • 10.
  • 11.
  • 12. Root chakra healing is important to our daily physical lives, interactions with the earths energy and our sense of personal worth; the ability to manifest security and stability for our basic survival needs is affected by the state of our root chakra.
  • 13. The root chakra represents physical energy, vitality, being connected to the earth, material possessions, success in business and manifestations. It is associated with the color of red and is located at the base of the spine or tailbone. It is the energy that grounds us, connects us to the earth and empowers our self worth, it is also associated with our sexual energies.
  • 14. Generic Name: Root or Base Chakra Eastern Name: Muladahara Location: At the base of the spine Color: Red Musical Note: C Smoky Quartz, Garnet, Alexandrite, Ruby, Agate, Crystals and Gemstones: Bloodstone, Onyx, Tiger's Eye, Rose Quartz It is linked to survival instincts, a good self-image, and Attributes: our ability to ground ourselves in the physical world. Manifests as paranoia, insecurity, a feeling of being out Blockage Symptoms: of touch with gravity, fertility issues, and low libido in either sex. Too Open: Dishonesty, bullying, hyperactivity, defensiveness Body: Physical Glandular Connection: Gonads (testes in men, ovaries in women)
  • 15. When the root chakra is blocked we often become spacey, frustrated with our work, and feel physical pain in our feet, knees, legs, hips and lower back. Sexual drive is often extremely low or non existent as well and lack of self confidence is also commonly associated to a blocked or unhealthy root chakra. The first step to root chakra healing is by understanding if your root chakra is working at its full potential.
  • 16. If you are feeling pain the lower extremities of your body this is usually a sign of root chakra blockage as it signifies you are not accessing the earths energy. It can also manifest in health issues surrounding; anemia, cancer, heart disease, gynecological problems and drug addictions.
  • 17. Concentrating on any one thing or performing mundane tasks such as balancing your checkbook are difficult and are often put off until the last possible moment.  Feeling of spaciness or being easily distracted is a sign of not being connected to the earths energy.  Constant worry and stress over your financial situation or sense of security with home and work is a symptom of root chakra blockage.  A feeling of helplessness, unworthiness, lack of self confidence or unhappiness with your physical body are also signs and extreme blockage of your root chakra can lead to depression.  It’s also linked to the sex drive, so if a woman has an blocked up Root Chakra, for instance, she might not find sex pleasurable or a man whose Root Chakra is blocked could be impotent. But if their chakras are grounded and free, they will have a good, satisfying sex life. This is just one aspect of the characteristics of the Root Chakra.
  • 18. Exercise, enjoy your physical body; walk, run, dance, do yoga, play sports, stretch. By utilizing our bodies in a physical way we are allowing the energy to flow through and into us through our root chakra. This does not mean over exerting or exhausting yourself but partaking in any physical activity helps, it is a way of showing gratitude for our bodies.  To ground yourself visualize the color red; a juicy red apple, a bright red lollipop or cherries. Red is the root chakra color, focusing on the associated color focuses energy into it. Root chakra healing can occur by imagining the chakra at the base of your spine as a bright red glowing ball of light. Another way to ground yourself is to pamper your feet, get a pedicure, soak them in salts or women can even paint their toenails red.
  • 19. For overcoming feelings of stress, worry or helplessness, meditation and affirmations are wonderful to clear the mind and gain a positive outlook. Here are a few affirmations you can use:  I am surrounded with love, support and light through all of my choices in life and give to the world my love, support and light.  I am grateful for my body, how it supports me and carries me through everyday, and all the freedoms it allows me.  I am grateful for my family, friends, work and health.  The root chakra is an important part of our overall health both physically and mentally. When the Crown Chakra is balanced and open, we are fully present and literally 'Spirit on Earth', with every cell of our being we are in full harmony with the entire cosmos, where nothing and everything are one, and where self-knowledge and inner knowing are integral part of our daily life's experience. We can open to the mystery of heaven and will naturally seek knowledge and higher understanding, beyond ourselves.

It has the highest vibration of the seven major Chakras and represents the highest human perfection, our true Essence. Spirituality can represent our journey towards self-discovery more than being associated with a particular religion; it is more a sense of contentment and purpose. If this Chakra is not open properly or blocked, we may feel disconnected and separated. The Crown Chakra remains folded around the pineal gland like an unopened flower, which is why this Chakra is also called 'The Thousand Petal Lotus'. Like the Brow Chakra, it is associated with our intuition. When the Brow Chakra and Crown Chakra are activated as a single unit, they constitute a functional element known to ancients as 'The Third Eye'. As we realize the magnificent scope of the cosmos, we have the opportunity to transcend our smaller, more limited world and identify with the entire universe.
