FREE Professional Ethics Course (optional-please select under Related Items below): Saturday, 9AM-Noon
Workshop Hours: Saturday, 1:00-5:00PM and Sunday, 9AM-6:00PM
This hot stone massage course takes you from the basic use of stones and hot stone application techniques to more advanced uses for pain relief and chronic pain reversal. You will learn the proper stones to use as well as the appropriate temperature for application.
This course offers more than basic hot stone work-we go into detail about the use of hot stones in a relaxation massage, as well as applications for chronic pain areas. Later in the course, you will learn the use of hot stones in other techniques like reflexology and meridian work. Also we will show how to work with stone (body) gloves to help loosen up tight areas. We do a cold stone demonstration/practice to show the effects of cold stone application on pain areas and injury sites. This course includes lecture, discussion, Q& A, demonstration, and supervised student practice. By the end of the weekend, you will be able to: give a full hot stone massage; incorporate stone work into your current practice; give hot stone specific work on chronic points; use cold stones; and use terry cloth stone gloves.
Necessary supplies for course: approved set of 50 stones and roaster (both are available for purchase prior to the workshop, or we can suggest sources), massage oil (not lotion/cream), four sets of twin-size sheets (including face cradle covers), a full-sized body towel, a pillow or bolster, and a heavier blanket for warmth. We provide all other equipment and supplies.
All participants must be licensed or certified therapists.

Hot Stone Massage CE Workshop
1. HOT STONE MASSAGE WORKSHOP
November 1-3, 2014
15-Hour NCBTMB Approved CE’s including FREE 3-Hour Professional Ethics Class
Hot stone massage is a beautiful addition to one’s
massage practice. It can be offered as a massage menu
item or integrated with a few stones into one’s Swedish or
Deep Tissue massage.
A hot stone massage uses heated smooth Basalt river
stones to massage the body. The hardness of the stones
allows one to address specific problem areas with deeper
pressure. And, the smoothness of the stones, which is
often mistaken by the client to be the therapists’ hands,
allows for gentle, long connecting strokes. The heat from
the stones and the warm oil relaxes muscles, increases
blood flow, and helps cleanse and detoxify muscles.
We go into detail about the use of hot stones in a
relaxation massage, as well as applications for chronic
pain areas. Later in the course, you will learn the use of
hot stones in other techniques like reflexology and meridian work. We do a cold stone demonstration/practice to show the
effects of cold stone application on pain areas and injury sites. This course includes lecture, discussion, Q& A,
demonstration, and supervised student practice. By the end of the weekend, you will be able to: give a full hot stone
massage; incorporate stone work into your current practice; give hot stone specific work on chronic points; and use cold
stones.
