TRAINING DESIGN
Training Design refers to a systematic approach
for developing training programmes.
It is a detailed sketch for what will be done, why
it is being done , and the best ways to reach the
training objectives.
• Identify the training needs or goals
• Flexible
• Prepare the trainees mentally.
• Top management’s support.
Principles of Training
• Training prog. must be based on the principles of
individual differences
• The objectives should be expressed in
performance terms as far as possible.
• For effective motivation of trainees, suitable
incentives must be provided
• Both the executive and supervisors as well as the
trainees must take active part in the training
activities, so that all concerned take genuine
interest in the training.

Understanding & Developing the
Objectives of Training
Training objectives defines what participants will be
expected to learn or do as a result of participating in
training program and are essential for the success.
Establishing objectives is one of the important steps in
any training program. The objectives clarify what is
expected by both HRD staff and participants. It
provides a basis for evaluating the program after it
has been completed. Moreover, it helps to determine
which methods are appropriate by focusing on the
areas of employee performance that need to change.
Developing objectives is an essential and
challenging aspect of effective training. The
following are some questions training
professionals should answer when writing
objectives:
• Is your main intent stated?
• Have you described all of the conditions
that will influence learner performance?
Therefore, Well written learning objectives
should be specific , measurable, attainable,
result-oriented & time- based (SMART)
