THE IDEA ITSELF
Women can easily build entrepreneurship by the proper use of roof top.
Bangladesh is a densely populated country and there has a lot of scope
to use roof top properly by cultivating seasonal fresh crops like fruits,
vegetables, potted plant (like ornamental plant), mushroom, traditional
& rare varieties, plant in our country, according to the choices of women
in a building. Besides cultivating food, they can also initiate an integrated
culture program like fish farming, poultry farming etc. Here all women in
a building are engaged to complete the whole works.
The total floor of the roof should be covered by the dense polythene
sheet for the protection of floor against water and soil. Then the total
space of the roof should be subdivided into required plots for integrated
production.
Harvested crop can be packaged by using a jute bag or modified papers.
The next step of marketing can be done through online or selling them by
opening a shop which can be placed under the building or other market.
Here garage can be used. A handsome benefit can be given to the
building owner and other benefit can be distributed among the women
based on activity.

EXECUTION PLAN
The total roof is subdivided into some bed. Each bed represents one type of crop like flower
bed, fruit bed, vegetable bed, etc. For producing much production in a small place, we may use
stair model and vertical model . In stair model, light loving plant is cultivated on the stair and a
shade loving plant is placed under it.
In starting business, 10,000 taka may invest for 10,000 sq foot roof area. First the whole roof is
covered by polythene sheet so that water cannot hamper to the roof, Then beds are formed by
using soil with mixing of organic fertilizers. In this bed, we may use the stair model for much
production.
Water tank and fish pond are placed at a center and poultry house is placed in a corner. We use
poultry residues as fertilizer. The solar panel can be set for light availability.

9. FUNDING STRATEGY
All the women of the building should contribute as it is a team
work. They can also arrange/get a 50 % share of investment
from government or non profitable GO's or NGO's. They should
make a plan & fix an amount each so that they can arrange the
primary investment .
They can also manage this investment by taking loans from
banks. Nowadays, many bank offers loans with small interest,
especially for women entrepreneurs. In single project, a
woman should start with small investment & after running the
project she needs to seek financial help from banks/family. By
first profit she has to increase her project & make sure about
project running.
Funding can also manage by sharing project with
nursery/vegetables farm which is done on roof top.
