The rise in popularity of social media channels over the past decade has fundamentally changed how we connect with one another, how we discover news, and how we consume and share information that matters.
Now, it's easier than ever before to maintain relationships, to watch your loved ones celebrate milestones, and to advocate and rally around the causes about which you care deeply.
So how has this monumental shift in communications affected our role as fundraisers and nonprofit leaders? How can we leverage the power and potential of social media to not only “connect”, but also to actively raise funds for our causes and to cultivate relationships with our donors?
In this presentation, Noah Barnett (Marketing at CauseVox) & Julia Campbell (Founder of JC Social Marketing) dive into these important questions and you will learn how you can effectively leverage social media for fundraising and new donor acquisition for your nonprofit. You will also hear about best practices in the sector and specific tips on measuring the ROI of social media for your nonprofit.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
*The ways in which social media has dramatically changed nonprofit fundraising
*How to determine which social media channels on which to focus
*The best types of content to share on social media for nonprofits
*Ways to get your social media communities to take action on behalf of your cause
*Metrics to measure the ROI of your social media efforts

They’re the ones that drag their friends to your event, share the latest news about your nonprofit/project, and create fundraising pages in your crowdfunding or online fundraising campaign.
True believers are crucial to the success of your crowdfunding or online fundraising campaign. They are the linchpins that pull everything together.
1. True believers are responsive
True believers respond to your emails, requests for volunteers, and social media posts. Their responsiveness is an indicator that they want to be engaged. In social media, they are the ones that share your content and stories.
2. True believers are giving
Your true believers give money (it doesn’t matter how much) but more importantly, their time. Their time demonstrates commitment in giving their most valuable asset.
3. True believers have sustained passion
Things that burn the brightest burn out the quickest. What you want to look for are people that have stuck with your nonprofit for an extended period of time. True believers will stay with you during challenging times. Beware of the irrationally exuberant types as they’ll be the first ones to jump ship when things get rough.

S - To pinpoint your specific fundraising goal, ask yourself:
What do I ultimately want to accomplish?
What needs to happen in order to reach the goal?
Who will benefit once the goal is met?
M – You’re able to know if you accomplish them. Things like “increase our brand awareness” or “expand our reach” are SOFT and hard to measure. You’ll not be able to determine if you’re successful if you can’t measure your goals.
A – What have we done in the past?
R - What will meeting this goal do to further your mission?
What are the direct results in lives changed, return on investment, etc.?
Are you reaching your target group with this goal?
How do the services the donations will provide connect with the services you’re currently offering?
T – Have time constraints! This constraint will help you ensure you build your campaign materials and goals around
