Brian Solis recently published his new book X: Experiences When Business Meets Design. Jessica Glass was one of the book's first readers. She was so moved by the purpose, message and design of the book, she took the time to create an experiential thank you letter in return. In turn, Brian was so moved that he asked Jessica if he could share it with you. http://bit.ly/x-experience
In honor of X: An experiential thank you letter by Jessica Glass
1. an X review
an X-periential thank you
for Brian Solis
November 2015
2. the power of eXperience
First things first Brian, loved the book. After digesting it, you can definitely tell that “X”
is the culmination of countless threads of thought all woven into a comprehensive fabric
blanketing today’s ever evolving consumer landscape. Kudos!
The work you’ve been involved in with Google as of late, exploring “micro moments”,
has been especially interesting to take in. A fair chunk of my background has been in
telecom, and it’s been an incredibly revealing journey to see how connectivity and the
democratization of such sophisticated technologies has become ingrained in the every-
day, for everyone, everywhere - and in such a short span of time! We live in incredibly
exciting times.

Ever since I was little, I’ve been driven by this innate desire to curate experiential
moments. The kind that stick with you. That you recall, days, weeks, even years down
the road with a sense of instant connection. That fit perfectly into the bigger picture of
what this crazy scheme called life itself tuly is.
It’s been this drive that’s fuelled much of my career trajectory to date. And although
I haven’t quite found my niche yet, I’m continually learning to enjoy the moments that
make up the journey. It’s a treat to have this latest publication in my reference arsenal.
I think “X” is a prime example of the kind of bridge the marketplace needs for facilitatig
those connections beyond the scope of pure analytics.
So with that in mind, to convey my apreciation for the work you put into communicating
the concepts outlined in “X”, consider this a bit of a visual “thank you” - a quick mashup
of tidbits - ultimately, an expereince for sharing the eXperience.
Stay well & keep in touch.
Best,
Jessica

5. design anarchy is madness. choose it
only if you’re certain the other options will
corrode your soul
and give you a bleeding ulcer, only if you know
you are among the few chosen
designers who hold Prometheus’ holy fire in your
hands. you’ll suffer for years and live
like a stray dog but you’ll have
the joy of breaking all the rules,
of freely mixing art and politics, of
pouring your beliefs and convictions
into your work. eventually, if you’re really as
brilliant as you think, you’ll have a crack at
pushing the boundaries of global culture
with
bold new forms and fresh ways of being.
