Strategy Analytics estimates that more than 9 billion devices were Internet connected at the end of 2013. The number is expected to reach nearly 12 billion by the end of this year, a 32 percent growth rate. More than 33 billion devices will rely on Internet connectivity by 2020, nearly three times the current total. - Smart Lighting—IntelliStreets by Illuminating Concepts is currently deployed in Lansing, MI, and Las Vegas, NV. Statistics show that well lit areas have less crime. IntelliStreets uses LED lighting technology to greatly reduce the energy and maintenance costs associated with traditional lighting systems. The lamppost can accommodate sensors to gather information on weather, air quality, noise, etc., to ensure safe environments. Digital signage can provide directions, alerts, and notifications. A unique feature of IntelliStreets is wayfinding. Wayfinding strobes the lights to indicate a directional pathway, such as the best way to leave a crowded area or an evacuation route. Smart Parking—Statistics show that approximately 20 to 30 percent of traffic is caused from people driving around looking for a parking spot. StreetLine enables multiple parking solutions. For the consumer, imagine knowing where all the open spaces are instead of having to try to find one. How much time could that save you?
