★HOT★ The “Bridge to IBM SmartCloud” Renewal Option
• Customers are exploring the cloud for e-mail as well as other workloads –
collaboration, social business, etc.
• For e-mail, IBM has historically offered “traditional” on-premises part numbers
with maintenance for client access licenses (CALs), as well as SaaS
subscription part numbers for customers moving to the cloud
• “Bridge to IBM SmartCloud” allows a customer to switch from on-premises
Notes CALs to SmartCloud Notes subscriptions at renewal time, keeping the
same entitlements whether they stay on-prem or move to IBM SmartCloud
• Domino server licensing remains as-is (customers transitioning to the cloud will
not need to renew Domino messaging servers in subsequent years)

A: There is no requirement that the customer has to
move any users to the IBM SmartCloud. This licensing
option simply allows customer to move some or all
users to the IBM SmartCloud for email if they so
desire, but is only available at the time of renewal.
A: The customer can continue to renew each year
with this option with no penalty for staying on-prem.
The SmartCloud Notes subscriptions will renew at the
same price as the previous year, and includes full
entitlement for the Notes CAL as well as additional
Domino servers for hybrid configuration (if needed).
A: No, support for the Notes client remains
unchanged.
